Maggie: So I'll be happy as long as I don't discover the truth about what?
Victor: I was just telling Henderson that I don't deserve a wife as wonderful as you.
Maggie: Is that so?
Victor: You, as the kids say, are out of my league.
Maggie: Nice try. Why don't you give it another shot? And this time I want the truth.
EJ: How did you like your afternoon in Paris?
Lexie: [Sighs contentedly] It was just like being there--
Lexie: The sights, the sounds, the food-- oh, my goodness, so good.
EJ: I know. And no jet lag.
Lexie: Yeah, right.
EJ: Where is Abe?
Lexie: Um, he went to pay the vendors, and Cameron took Theo home.
EJ: So how do we like the new brother?
Lexie: Oh, are we jealous?
EJ: I don't know. No.
EJ: Can I tell you something?
EJ: When I was watching you earlier, you were dancing with Abraham, this may sound like a strange thing to say, but I can't remember the last time that I saw you looking so, um...
Lexie: So what?
EJ: So carefree.
Lexie: Huh. You know what? Because that's exactly how I felt... thanks to you, my sweet, sweet, sweet, precious little brother.
EJ: "Sweet"? Really? This Parisian air is getting to you.
Lexie: No. No, really. Thank you.
EJ: I didn't do all of it. What's that look for? Hmm?
Lexie: I wish Father could have been here.
EJ: Yeah. You couldn't reach him?
Lexie: Mm-mm. I tried several times, but, you know, with all that's going on, I guess he has other things on his mind.
[Knock at door]
Austin: Just a sec. Hey.
Austin: What are you doing here?
Billie: I'm checking in on you.
Austin: Well... do you have any information? Do you know when Carrie and the others are gonna be through with playing hide-and-go seek with Stefano?
Billie: I don't know. But I would imagine soon. I mean, it's not like they're gonna share that kind of information with me.
Austin: Well, why wouldn't they share that information with you? You're connected. You're ex-I.S.A. I mean, they told you when everyone was alive.
Billie: Well, that was because Bo is Chelsea's father.
Austin: Do you have any idea how over this I am? Over it. I want my wife back. I mean, I have to pretend that my wife died in an explosion. Do you realize how crazy that could make somebody? I'm going nuts.
Billie: I know. What's this? What, are you gonna go on a trip?
Austin: No, hopefully just across town.
Billie: Houses? You're looking at houses?
Austin: See this hotel room? I'm done with it. It's bad luck. Carrie and I are never gonna get our lives back on track unless we get a place of our own.
Billie: Huh. I remember the last time you were looking at houses, and I remember that you said that Carrie wasn't real keen on a nursery or a playhouse in the backyard.
Austin: Okay, but that was then.
Billie: What do you mean?
Austin: No, our relationship now is in a different place.
Billie: I take it the visit to the safe house went well.
Austin: Yeah, it did. I mean, Billie, we almost lost everything. And now that we're gonna start over... I can't think of a better time to start a family.
Carrie: You think I'm pregnant?
Marlena: I don't know. I don't know. I'm just putting the idea out there.
Carrie: No, I probably just ate something that disagreed with me.
Marlena: Nobody else in the house has been sick.
Carrie: I know. That doesn't mean anything.
Marlena: Carrie, only you can answer this. I mean, is it possible? Could you be pregnant?
Roman: All right, Stefano, make yourself comfortable. We're gonna be a while.
Rafe: That's the understatement of the year.
Roman: Got a lot of paperwork to do. We're gonna be thorough. Don't want you skating on a technicality.
Bo: Not when we have enough to put you away for the rest of your life.
Hope: Don't worry. You're not gonna wake up from this bad dream.
Billie: I actually would have thought that you and Carrie would have had a house full of kids by now. I remember she used to want to have six.
Austin: [Laughs] Six kids? Yeah, I'd be happy to start with just one.
Billie: I do remember that twins run in her family.
Austin: Yeah, they do, don't they?
Austin: You know what? That'd be fine by me. Carrie and I have had baby names picked out since before we got married. We've always wanted kids. Just--things always got in the way.
Billie: Like what?
Austin: Like, uh... like school, like careers, like deciding to live abroad. That's just how it's been. We've never settled down.
Billie: But you're ready to do that now?
Austin: Well, maybe not exactly, but... I'll tell you what this week has taught me. You wait around for the right time or you think that there's always gonna be a time, that's when you run out of it. And there's no way I'm letting that happen to us.
Billie: I know, but even starting a family, you don't want to rush into that.
Austin: Rush? What are you-- do you know how long I've known Carrie?
Austin: Yeah, I wouldn't--
Austin: I wouldn't exactly call this rushing. After everything that we've been through, I just know in her heart... I know it, Billie. She feels exactly the same way.
Carrie: Well, anything is possible, but I'm not. I would know if I were pregnant.
Marlena: Okay, you just said that you were one, maybe two months late.
Carrie: But that's normal for me. I mean, my cycle's off sometimes, especially when I'm under a lot of stress.
Marlena: Well, speaking from experience, I know that being in love with somebody who's not your husband can be very stressful.
Carrie: [Sighs] Marlena... Rafe and I, we never...
Marlena: Yeah. I know. Carrie, listen to me. You told me that Austin wanted to start a family. And I know that you were wanting to give that marriage a second chance.
Carrie: I did. I-I tried. I really, really tried.
Marlena: I know. I know you did. But we will be out of here at some point soon. And you'll want to be with Rafe, and I know that having a child, even having a pregnancy, could make things very complicated.
Carrie: I know what a baby would mean, Marlena.
Marlena: Good. I'm on your side.
[Cell phone rings]
Carrie: It's Rafe. Rafe.
Rafe: Carrie. It's over. Did you hear what I said? Stefano's reign of terror is over. Listen, I'm down at the station. You and Marlena should get down here.
Carrie: What if someone sees us?
Rafe: All right, well, just be careful. But get down here. We have some celebrating to do.
Carrie: We sure do. I can't wait to see you. That's it. They got him.
Marlena: Oh. [Laughs] Oh, good.
Roman: All right, there we go, Stefano. There you go.
Rafe: They're on their way.
Shane: A sight for sore eyes, isn't it?
Hope: A beautiful one.
Stefano: I am so happy that I could give you something to celebrate about, especially after your fantastic return from your graves.
Bo: Come on, Stefano. You don't have to put on a brave face for us.
Hope: Deep down, we know you're panicking.
Stefano: Am I, now?
Bo: Yeah. You backed yourself into a pretty tight corner. Don't see you getting out of this one.
Shane: No, you're facing federal charges, my friend. Trafficking in illegal arms-- that's a violation of the patriot act.
Hope: He knows.
Stefano: Well, anything you say--
Hope: That's why he did it. Isn't it? To prove you could get away with it? Because the great Stefano DiMera's untouchable?
Stefano: Oh, you know me so well.
Hope: You know, you remind me of that little boy in the myth who flew too close to the sun. Your wings have melted. You can't fly anymore, Phoenix, only fall.
Victor: You're not going to grill me on my birthday?
Maggie: Only if you give me reason to.
Victor: Well, at least take it easy on an old man who's imbibed a bit too much champagne. I was just joking around with Henderson.
Maggie: Were you?
Victor: Yes. And you took what you heard entirely out of context.
Maggie: Don't make me sound like I was eavesdropping on you, Victor. Henderson? Would you mind?
Henderson: Of course, ma'am.
Victor: You're upset with me.
Maggie: Oh, and I suppose you're gonna tell me I have no reason to be.
Victor: No. Maggie, I don't want to fight with you. I want tonight to be as special as you planned it.
Maggie: Okay, you stop it right there. I heard enough before I walked in to know that you weren't joking. I've walked in on you and Henderson having similar conversations before. So, whatever you're saying, it doesn't make any sense.
Victor: Would it do any good to tell you that you're just making too much of this whole thing?
Maggie: Oh, am I making too much of you lying to me? Huh. Well, no, silly me.
Victor: Maggie... please. Don't ruin tonight after all the trouble you went to.
Maggie: Oh, and of course it's gonna be all my fault, isn't it?
Victor: Damn it, that's not what I meant.
Maggie: Look, you are keeping something from me, Victor. Now, I don't know whether you can't tell me or you don't want to tell me, and that is your prerogative. But you know what? It is my fault... for believing that you would want to be honest with me no matter what. Happy Birthday.
EJ: Well, look, maybe it's better that he wasn't here tonight. You know how he can be, and after everything that's happened...
Lexie: EJ, he's still our father.
EJ: Yeah. Alexandra, you know how much you mean to him.
Lexie: Yeah, how much we both mean to him.
[Cell phone rings]
EJ: Sorry. Work.
Lexie: Oh, okay.
EJ: Hello? Really? Bye.
Stefano: I'm very impressed with your knowledge of the classics. The boy who went too close to the sun was called Icarus.
Roman: All right, Stefano, give me the ring.
Stefano: All right, and, um, I think you would be more satisfied with the fable that is called Sisyphus, you see. That was when the gentleman had to push up a big boulder up a hill, but what happened was that the boulder kept coming down and going over him.
Shane: Except this time, we managed to push the boulder all the way up the hill, didn't we?
Stefano: Anything you say, Agent.
Shane: You know, I've watched you strutting around this town for years, acting as though you were entitled to do anything you wanted. Well, right now you have a rude awakening coming.
Hope: You lost control, Stefano. You lost control of everything-- your empire, your ego, even us, your pawn and Principessa. We'll never be your victims again. You kept me from my family, my husband when he needed me most. I think it only fitting I return the favor tenfold. You will never see your family again.
John: It's a tough break, pal. You know, I'm really sorry that there isn't a punishment fit for your crimes. I guess you'll have to make do with a 8-by-5-foot cell.
Stefano: Are you all finished? Because this is becoming very tedious.
Marlena: Afraid not, 'cause I haven't had my say yet.
Stefano: Well, well, well. The Queen of the night very much alive.
Marlena: You must be devastated.
Stefano: No, no, no. I'm actually very happy to see you.
Marlena: Something we don't share. I am happy beyond words you will never hurt my family or friends again.
Stefano: I'm very sorry if you have been hurting for anything, whether I had anything to do with it or not.
Marlena: Oh, my gosh! You still won't admit it, will you? You tried to kill all of us.
Marlena: I tried to find a way to say good-bye to the man I love most in this world. Can you even conceive of how painful that was for me? You can't, can you? Because there's something very wrong with you... inside you. You're broken. You're dark. You're evil. I don't hate you. I find you pitiful.
Shane: All right, there you go. That's all of it.
Roman: All right.
Rafe: Want to get out of here?
Rafe: Why not? This is almost done.
Carrie: Let's do it.
Rafe: All right.
Roman: Okay, all done. Stefano, you are entitled to one phone call, so there you go.
Stefano: No, thank you.
Roman: So, for the record, you are declining?
Stefano: You see, the phone call is redundant. When everybody finds out that I have been arrested, that's gonna travel faster than anything your mind could come up with.
Roman: Oh, Stefano. Well, in that case, we better get you to your cell before I make a wrong turn somewhere.
Carrie: I don't believe that we are out of that safe house.
Rafe: What did I tell you? Did I promise you we were gonna make it out? I did, didn't I? Didn't I?
Carrie: Yeah, you did.
Rafe: So... we're out. And time to get our lives back. Yes?
Carrie: Mm-hmm. You know, when we were at the safe house, before the bomb went off, you...
Rafe: I what?
Carrie: You told me that you love me.
Carrie: And I said it quietly back, but I just--I want to make sure that you know it, because I'm tired of hiding my feelings. I just want to let 'em out.
Rafe: No, I know. I know.
Carrie: I love you, Rafe. I love you.
Rafe: I love you too. I do. What?
Carrie: No, I can't, I can't. I-I... I need to talk to Austin first.
Rafe: Right. Okay.
Austin: Okay. This is the one. I really like this one. It's a great house. It's got a big backyard.
Austin: Okay? So I've narrowed it down. This one is not quite as big, but it's in a great school district. What do you think?
Billie: I don't know. They both seem fine.
Austin: They both seem fine? You're telling me that you don't have an opinion? Is this your way of telling me that, uh, you think I'm wasting my time?
Billie: No, I didn't say that.
Austin: Sis, be honest with me. I mean, Sami told me that she thinks that Carrie still has feelings for Rafe, and... I mean, I just tell myself that of course Sami's gonna think that.
Billie: And you don't anymore?
Austin: No. I mean, you should have seen her face when I went and visited her at the safe house, Billie. She was so excited to see me. I-I just think that we're close, you know. We're close to being back the way we were before.
Billie: Well, then... I would choose the house in the better school district, because I want me some smart nieces and nephews.
[Cell phone rings]
Austin: [Gasps] It's Carrie. It's Carrie. Carrie?
Austin: Where are you? How do you have access to your phone?
Carrie: It's over. Um, Stefano's been arrested.
Austin: They caught Stefano. Everyone's been released. Sweetheart, where are you? Are you at the station right now?
Carrie: No. The Town Square. Look, we--we need to--
Austin: Baby, don't say another word. I'm on my way.
Roman: Ring if you need anything.
Maggie: Thank you. I don't know why you followed me here. I really don't.
Victor: I'd like a chance to explain myself if you'll allow it.
Maggie: Oh, now you want to talk?
Victor: And apologize. May I? You were right. I did lie to you before. And for that, I'm sorry. I should have respected you enough in the moment to be honest with you. But mostly I want to apologize, because what I'm about to tell you is going to hurt you.
Maggie: What do you mean? How can the truth hurt me?
Victor: I want to talk to you about Lillian.
Maggie: Lillian Jonas? Daniel's mother? What about her?
Victor: The facility that she used where she had your eggs implanted--
Maggie: Okay. Let's be very clear. I know the Jonases were good friends of yours, but let's not make Lillian out to be an innocent bystander. She stole my eggs... plain and simple.
Victor: Not exactly.
Maggie: What do you mean "not exactly"?
Victor: She had help.
Maggie: [Chuckles] For heaven's sakes, who would possibly help--who would possibly help her do something like that?
Victor: Me. I helped her.
Stefano: Alexandra... what are you doing here?
Lexie: You forget about me. Are you all right?
Stefano: I'm--I'm fine.
Lexie: What do you mean you're fine? You--you've been arrested.
Stefano: You know that crazy Roman and his friends there. They don't know what the hell they are doing.
Lexie: What--whom are you talking about?
Stefano: John, Marlena, Bo, Hope, they are very much alive.
Stefano: Yes, their whole death thing was a hoax, don't you see? The whole thing was so that they could trap me.
EJ: Why don't you tell her what you're charged with, Father?
Stefano: [Sighs] Trafficking... illegal arms.
Lexie: Were you?
Stefano: What difference does it make? They're only gonna believe what they want to believe. They certainly are never gonna believe anything I have to say. The thing that bothers me so much here, sweetheart, is that I'm in here when you need me.
Lexie: I know. EJ, isn't there something you can do?
Lexie: Yeah, you. You're the mayor. Get him out of here.
Rafe: Hey. You all right?
Carrie: No. No, I'm not okay. I have to tell my husband that our marriage is over. I don't know how I'm supposed to do that.
Rafe: Yeah. Maybe you should sit down.
Rafe: You're looking a little pale.
Carrie: That's just from being indoors the last few days.
Rafe: Oh, is it really?
Rafe: Okay. We don't have to tell him right now, you know.
Carrie: I have to. I can't let him go on thinking that we have this future together when we don't. But at the same time, I don't want to hurt him.
Rafe: Listen, like I said, if you want me to say something to him, I will.
Carrie: No. God, no.
Carrie: I appreciate the offer, but it has to come from me. It's the least he deserves.
Rafe: Okay. All right.
Carrie: A part of me is always going to love Austin.
Rafe: I know.
Carrie: But it's not like it was before, where he's the only man in my heart, because he's not. You're there now. And I love that you are.
Rafe: Oh, I love that I am too. I do.
Austin: Carrie. Carrie. I've got you back. I've got you back, and I am never gonna let you go. Sweetheart. Go ahead.
Lexie: EJ, I need your help.
EJ: No, I'm sorry--I can't.
Lexie: What do you mean you can't? You're the mayor.
EJ: I'm not going up against the I.S.A.
Lexie: Oh, oh, so suddenly you're intimidated by the I.S.A.?
EJ: I'm not intimidated. I'm being practical.
Lexie: No, no, you're making excuses. Why? Are you afraid of how this will affect you politically?
EJ: Lexie, this has nothing to do with my political agenda.
Lexie: Okay, you're upset with Father. I get that, okay? I am--I am too. He couldn't have picked a worse possible time to be reckless.
EJ: He could not have picked a worse possible time to be caught.
Lexie: So you think he's guilty?
EJ: [Slaps leg]
Lexie: Maybe he is. Okay, maybe this is exactly what he deserves. But what about me, EJ? Look, I'm sorry. I am so sorry to play this card, but I don't have much time left, okay? Every minute counts. I want Father to be with me.
Lexie: Please, please, don't--don't deny me the chance to say good-bye to our Father.
Stefano: Sweetheart, stop pressuring him, all right? Because... even if he could help, I would, uh... I would refuse it.
Austin: Let me look at you. Let me look at you.
Carrie: You already saw me--
Austin: I can't stop looking at you.
Carrie: You saw me today.
Austin: No, no, no, just-- what, for five minutes, Carrie. You don't know what it was like thinking that I lost you, that I would never see you again, that I would never hold you in my arms again. And not knowing when you would get out of that... out of the damn safe house.
Carrie: I'm out now.
Austin: And it's over. I mean, Stefano is in jail? I can bring you home with me? This is it? It's over?
Carrie: It's over.
Austin: You have no idea how happy I am to hear that. Let's get you out of here, huh? I just want to be alone with you. And, Rafe... I want to thank you for getting her home safely.
Rafe: No problem.
Austin: She never should have been there in the first place, but I've got her back now, and that's all that matters to me. And I've got it from here. Come on. I got a big surprise for you, sweetheart.
Carrie: What are those?
Austin: That's the surprise I told you about.
Carrie: I don't understand. What... Austin...
Austin: It's time for us to settle down.
Carrie: Settle down?
Austin: Yes. To settle down. I don't want to live in hotel rooms anymore. I want us to have something more permanent... a real home... a real home with a real yard and a real fence and plenty of room to grow.
Maggie: You helped Lillian?
Victor: You have to remember that Daniel's parents were my best friends. They wanted desperately to have a child.
Maggie: So did I.
Victor: I knew I could help them, so I did.
Maggie: How? What did you do?
Victor: It just so happens that, through a holding company, I owned the medical lab where your eggs were stored.
Maggie: Your name wasn't on any of the paperwork that we had.
Victor: I know.
Maggie: So you just gave Lillian access to whatever she wanted, and you never considered the consequences of what you were doing?
Victor: As far as I was concerned, I was just helping my friends.
Maggie: What about what you did to me?
Victor: Maggie, I... I didn't know they were your eggs. Even if I had, it wouldn't have made any difference. I--the name Maggie Horton meant nothing to me. I didn't know you at that time.
Maggie: So that made it okay?
Victor: The eggs were just a means to an end.
Maggie: Not to me. The day that I found out that Daniel might be my son... you knew the truth, and you said nothing. Why?
Victor: For years, my business was just that-- my business. I wasn't accountable to anyone. I did what I thought was best, and that was that.
Maggie: [Laughs tearfully] Because you're Victor Kiriakis.
Victor: Then I fell... hopelessly and foolishly in love with you. We lived an entirely different kind of life. To be suddenly expected to... be on such a high level of honesty... I wasn't used to that.
Maggie: Are you kidding? That is your rationale-- that you're just used to lying to people?
Victor: That, and I didn't see any point in bringing up something that happened so many years ago. You'd completely forgotten about those eggs. You had no intention of using them.
Maggie: Really? I never forgot about 'em, not for one moment.
Victor: A couple who couldn't have a child... conceived. You had a son who would have never even been born. How could knowing about that have changed anything? You have a wonderful son now who loves you.
Maggie: And a husband who prefers to keep me in the dark.
Victor: That's not true. I love you.
Maggie: And yet you struggle mightily to... to be honest with me.
Victor: I'm trying. Why else would I be here?
Maggie: I don't know. I thought we had the kind of marriage where we were committed to being honest with each other. But I was wrong. And you, because of all your talk about having changed... ah, Victor, you haven't... not at all.
John: Ah, I love the smell of Victory.
Hope: Have a cookie.
Shane: All right, so we're off to headquarters.
John: Mess something up?
Shane: No, the chief just wants to go over some specific points for the news conference later.
Hope: Billie, you won't be coming forward as an Agent, will you?
Bo: Good. You should stay under the radar, especially where Junior's concerned.
Shane: Oh, and chief wants to see you later.
John: I'm ready when he is.
Shane: All right.
Marlena: Does that mean we may go?
Hope: Thanks for your help, Billie.
John: In a minute. I want to track down Roman and thank him for all his hard work.
Roman: You don't have to thank me. I'm just glad things turned out as well as they did.
John: Me too.
Roman: Stefano has his first official visitors. Lexie and the good mayor are with him as we speak.
Hope: Oh, God, poor Lexie-- having to deal with this on top of everything else.
Marlena: Well, may we go?
John: I think my wife wants to get out of here.
Hope: She's not the only one.
Roman: Well, I do need to debrief you sometime, but I think that can wait. You all pulled off the impossible. Time to celebrate.
Bo: Why don't the two of you take off? John and I will get the ball rolling, and we'll catch up with you later?
Hope: Now, that I like. I like that plan.
Bo: Keep your phone on, so I can track you down.
Hope: I will, I will, I will.
John: Keep yours on too.
Hope: Couple of cookies for the road.
Roman: Good night.
John: Way to tell Stefano off.
Marlena: Don't keep me waiting.
John: [Laughing] Good job, gentlemen.
Newman: I'm looking for Commissioner Brady.
Roman: Yeah, what can I do for you?
Newman: I need something from you.
Roman: And what would that be?
Newman: Your prisoner-- Stefano DiMera.
Victor: I know you're angry with me, and you have every right to be.
Maggie: Do I?
Victor: Can't we just go home? You can yell at me all you want, as long as you promise that tomorrow we'll have a fresh start.
Maggie: I beg your pardon? Don't give me conditions.
Victor: I'm not. I just don't want this to get any bigger than it needs to be.
Maggie: You don't get to decide that. I think you've already decided enough for me.
Victor: Can't we just go home?
Maggie: No. We can't.
Victor: Why not?
Maggie: [Scoffs] Because I've decided... I don't want to go home with you tonight.
Victor: Fine. I have apologized to you repeatedly, and you have yet to acknowledge it.
Maggie: Maybe I'm not ready to accept your apology.
Victor: Then maybe you need to think about something.
Maggie: What's that?
Victor: Is all this anger really directed at something that happened over three decades ago... or are you just using it as an excuse to lash out at me?
Hope: I hope John and Bo finish up at the station soon. There's a lot of people we need to see and let 'em know we're not dead.
Marlena: Keeping so many people we cared about in the dark--that was the worst part of all of this.
Carrie: Room to grow?
Austin: Room to grow. Yes. Would you look at that house?
Carrie: I did. It's--it's beautiful. It's just--it's too big for us.
Austin: No, it's not too big. That's the idea. We have to fill it up. It's time for us to start a family, Carrie. I mean, we have always found reasons just to put it off, but I say forget it, you know. Let's just--let's just do it. Let's just dive in. Jump.
Carrie: Austin--Austin, I can't.
Austin: You can't what?
Carrie: We need to talk about something.
Roman: What do you want with DiMera? You his lawyer?
Newman: Hardly. Agent Newman, CIA.
Officer: Sir, I was told to bring him up.
Roman: By who? It sure as hell wasn't me.
Newman: I gave the order.
John: What do you want him for?
Newman: I want him released immediately. Uncuff him.
Roman: No! No!
Lexie: Is he still being charged?
Roman: What the hell is going on here? Talk to me. What the hell is going on here?
