Ian: Kate.

Kate: Ian. What--what are you doing here?

Ian: I was taking a break.

Kate: Your assistant told me that you had meetings lined up wall-to-wall today.

Ian: Obviously, that's the good thing about being the boss. You get to duck a meeting any time you feel like it. [Chuckles] Are you looking for me?

Kate: God, yeah, actually I was, and now I--now I forget why.

Ian: Hmm. Do you want me to refresh your memory?

Madison: Oh, hey. How you doing?

Brady: I'm good. What are you reading?

Madison: Well, I was just-- quarterly reports and stuff. They're, you know, endless.

Brady: I know, I know. Listen, I wanted to grab you for an early dinner. We could talk some business, whatever you want to do.

Madison: I'm sorry, but I already am late for a budget meeting as we speak.

Brady: This late in the day? What are you--

Madison: I know, I'm sorry.

Brady: Really? Yeah, you already--you already said sorry.

Madison: So, I'll catch up with you later, okay?

Brady: Well, it's got to be an important meeting if--

[Door closes]

Madison: [Sighs] That son of a bitch.

Brady: Madis--

Lexie: [Sighs]

[Knocking on door]

Lexie: [Sighs] [Sniffles] Come in.

Chad: Hi. I, uh, I got your message.

Lexie: Uh, thanks. Thanks for coming. Coming, uh, right over. Come--come in.

Chad: Yeah you said there was something you wanted to talk to me about.

Lexie: Yeah, yeah. Have a seat. [Sighs] I-- I know you've been keeping your distance from the family.

Chad: Ah, yes. I knew that's why you wanted me to come in here--to talk about father.

Lexie: Father's going to need you, Chad.

Chad: He has a son he wants. He doesn't need me.

Rafe: You know what? There are two cops and two ISA agents here. If anyone can figure out how to disarm this thing, we can. Right?

Carrie: That bomb is hardwired into the security system. We can't get out, and no one can get in without setting it off.

Hope: Carrie, I promise you, we'll get everyone out of here safely.

Rafe: Yeah. Trust me. Trust us.

[Car doors closing]

Carrie: Oh, my God! Dad! Dad!

Rafe: Carrie. Carrie, Carrie, Carrie, no, no!

Carrie: Oh, my God! We have to stop him! We have to warn him!

Rafe: Listen to me.

Carrie: What?

Rafe: Don't do that, okay? The windows are part of the security system.

John: Damn it, Carrie! Listen to him.

Rafe: Stop--

Carrie: Fine, but how do we stop him from opening the door?

[Doorknob clicks]

Roman: What the hell?

[Doorknob clicks]

Roman: [Pounds door]

Bo: Roman! Stop trying to open the damn door!

Roman: I can't hear what you're saying! What's going on in there?

Rafe: It's a trap, Roman!

Bo: Roman!

Rafe: Stop!

John: Can you hear us?

Roman: Let me in! What's going on?

Bo: Roman!

Rafe: Stop.

Bo: You can't open this door!

Marlena: He will never give up.

Bo: Roman, there's a bomb! We can't open the door!

Marlena: We got to warn him.

Carrie: How? He can't hear us, and none of our phones work.

Hope: Wait, wait. I got it! I know what to do.

Chad: Oh, you guys in this together? Is that what's going on here?

Lexie: No, no, um... what are you doing here?

EJ: Just needed to see you.

Chad: Okay, and what's going on here?

Lexie: Um... come on in. Close the door. [Exhales] [Sighs] Okay, um... I didn't ask you here to talk about father. What I mainly want to talk to you about is me.

Roman: Lock must be jammed. They can't get out. "Do not enter door or windows. Explosives wired to the alarm system." My God.

Rafe: He's got the note. He's not pushing on the door.

Carrie: Well, thank God.

Bo: That's some good thinking.

Hope: Thank you. Sometimes it's handy to have a woman around.

Bo: [Groans] I'll drink to that.

Hope: Me, too.

Carrie: If we ever get out of here...alive.

Roman: "All cell phones out, signal may be jammed. Device is armed. Someone has to talk to us through disarming it. Please hurry. Six worried people are inside. Don't involve ISA Agent Harmon. He had to be on this." [Crumples paper] Damn. Son of a bitch.

Carrie: What's dad gonna do?

Rafe: He's probably trying to figure that out.

Hope: Brady, look.

Bo: "Don't worry. The cavalry is here."

John: [Snaps fingers]

Marlena: [Chuckles]

Ian: You know, now that we're working together, I think it'd be a good idea if we abused company privileges on a very regular basis.

Kate: Really? How?

Ian: Well, we could take the corporate jet to Tahiti for a couple of weeks.

Kate: [Laughs]

Ian: We could hole up in the company apartment in Manhattan and take in every show on Broadway. Oh, better yet, Titan is underwriting an exhibit at the Picasso museum of Saint-Tropez.

Kate: Ah. Well, you see, since you gave me half of Madison's job this morning, you also promised her that I was hardworking and capable and do we really want to make a liar out of you?

Ian: I don't know. I really do appreciate that, but I can't have you working all the time.

Madison: Really hate to break up all the fun, but I need to talk to Ian. Alone.

Kate: If this is about Mad World, I will be in on the conversation.

Madison: Yeah, I'm not trying to keep you out of the loop, Kate. I actually just need to talk to my future ex-husband.

Ian: I'll track you down when we're done.

Kate: Fine.

Ian: What can I do for you?

Madison: Well, you could start with being honest with me for once.

Ian: I thought I was being perfectly open with you.

Madison: All that talk about divorcing me so I could be with Brady? Prove to me that it wasn't just a bunch of crap.

Bo: He's got it hooked up on the flue.

Hope: Yeah, it's coming down now.

Bo: Wait, watch, watch.

Hope: Oh, there we go.

Carrie: Does--does the security system have a motion detector on the roof?

Rafe: Well, if it did, we wouldn't be standing here talking about it now, would we?

Hope: Roman, can you hear me? Over. Roman?

Carrie: Oh, God. It's not working?

Roman: All right. All right, I just got down off the roof. Let me know if you hear me.

John: Loud and clear, Roman. Good to hear your voice, over.

Roman: Okay, anybody hurt in there?

John: Just a lot of frayed nerves, over.

Roman: How the hell did this happen? Are you sure that Harmon was involved in this?

John: Well, he's the only one outside of Spencer who knew we were here. Either Stefano planted him at the ISA or turned him. But listen, we'll discuss that when we're out, over.

Roman: All right, you got it. You got it. What kind of device are we dealing with here?

John: Walk him through it.

Bo: Hey, big brother.

Roman: What the hell is a nice guy like you doing in a place like that?

Bo: Just lucky, I guess. We have, um, an electronic firing system that's tied to the security system. So it's detonated if you go through the doors, windows, and walls.

Roman: Okay, have you tried cutting the circuit breaker that controls the security system?

Bo: [Scoffs] We talked about that, but we don't really know what would happen and don't want to find out the hard way.

Roman: All right, all right. So you can't get out, I can't get in.

Bo: You got that right. But the timer's not running, so we think if we do nothing, we'll be okay.

Carrie: Can I talk to him?

Bo: Yeah. Push the button.

Carrie: Hi, Dad.

Roman: Honey, I thought you left.

Carrie: I didn't.

Roman: Well, how are you doing?

Carrie: Do you remember when Billy Jeffries made me go in my toy chest, and he sat on top of it, and he wouldn't move?

Roman: Yeah. You had nightmares for weeks.

Carrie: That's kind of what I feel like right now.

Roman: Now just try and stay calm. Know that I am all over this. And I already have gotten a lucky break.

Carrie: What do you mean? What happened?

Roman: Okay, another minute of explaining is another minute I can't get you out of there, okay? Just know that I love you very much, and I will not let you down. Over and out.

Carrie: I love you too, Dad. Tell me he didn't just say that to keep us from panicking.

Marlena: I don't think so. I've never known your father to make a promise to you or anyone that he did not intend to keep.

Brady: Not even going to say hello?

Kate: I said hello to you yesterday. Doesn't that count?

Brady: You're having a bad day, aren't you?

Kate: [Scoffs] You know what kind of day I'm having. You were there when Ian forced Madison to share top billing with me.

Brady: Well, he made you share it too. You don't like to share, do you?

Kate: You know, Madison is so far down on the list of things I have to worry about. I can certainly take care of her.

Brady: Yeah, she speaks so highly of you, too.

Kate: She's probably talking to Ian right now, but it's not gonna work.

Brady: What are you talking about?

Kate: Oh, I was just with Ian, and Madison showed up. She wanted me to get lost. What's the matter? You didn't know about that?

Brady: No. Hey, she works for Ian. She's gonna have to talk to him, right?

Kate: Oh, yeah. But I got the distinct feeling what she really wanted was to be alone with him. Does that threaten you?

Brady: Not at all. How about you?

Kate: Me? No, why?

Brady: Well, this is not difficult to figure out. I mean, Stefano kicked you out and then moments later, Ian gives you a nice, fancy job. And now you're all in a huff 'cause he's talking to Madison. You're the reason he's giving Madison the divorce, aren't you?

Ian: Impressive.

Madison: These papers have been sitting on your lawyer's desk for hours. He's not returning Justin's phone calls.

Ian: We only started the ball rolling this morning.

Madison: We haven't done anything, Ian. You have been too busy worrying about keeping Kate happy to do anything.

Ian: Ah, so that's what this is about.

Madison: Oh, please. You know what? Don't look so smug. You think I don't know what you're up to?

Ian: Well, you're such a clever girl. Why don't you tell me?

Madison: Last night, you offered me a divorce. This morning, you made me share my company and my job with Kate. That's fine. You think you're gonna distract me from getting this divorce? You're dreaming.

Ian: Do you think you'll ever trust me?

Madison: Well, Ian, I know for a fact I can't trust you. You can use the company against me all you want. I'm still pushing through and getting this divorce.

Lexie: And the tumor's inoperable.

Chad: What does that mean?

Lexie: It means I'm terminal.

Chad: But you look fine. You look just the same.

Lexie: Yeah, well, it doesn't change the fact that I'm dying soon.

Chad: Oh, my God.

Lexie: There's nothing I can do. Um, there's nothing anyone can do.

Chad: You're just going to let her talk like this? For God's sake, she is our sister. You and Stefano have all the money in the world, and you can't just let her give up.

EJ: Look, Chad. Father and I have done everything we can. We've contacted every first-class doctor in the country.

Chad: And?

Lexie: And they all say the same thing. The tumor is inoperable. The disease is too advanced.

Chad: No! No, no. I don't buy it, and I won't buy it. You don't get sick and just give up. You don't go off into the woods and lie down and wait to die. If you want something bad enough, you make it happen.

EJ: Hey. She knows that.

Lexie: Chad, there comes a time when acceptance is the only choice we have, okay? I'm not going to spend the rest of my time chasing after something that can never happen. This is the time for me. For the people I love.

Chad: [Hyperventilating] I just gotta--

Lexie: It's okay. Honey, it's okay though. I'm okay, all right? I'm okay, I'm okay. I'm okay.

Chad: [Sobbing]

Lexie: I'm okay.

Chad: [Crying]

Lexie: It's okay. It's okay.

Rafe: Carrie, Carrie. Come on, you're gonna wear a tread in the floor.

Carrie: That's what Geronimo did.

Rafe: What?

Carrie: When they put him in prison, he walked the same path in his cell every day, over and over again. And there was a mark on the floor when he died.

Rafe: Oh.

Carrie: You don't have to worry about this floor though. I won't have time to do that.

Marlena: What you can do is come and sit and talk to me.

Carrie: No, I don't want to do that.

Marlena: You can do that just fine. I want some catching up. I want some news from you.

Carrie: Oh, not much going on.

Marlena: All right. Work?

Carrie: Justin, uh, put out some feelers at a law firm here.

Marlena: Good. Tell me some more about that.

[Radio static]

Roman: Okay, I'm back.

Hope: We could use some good news here.

Roman: Well, you're in luck. Isa agent Shane Donovan would like to say hello.

Shane: Yeah, I hear you've gotten yourselves into a spot of bother. Let's see if we can get you out of here, shall we?

[Radio static crackles]

Rafe: Is this the same Shane I shared a jail cell with in South America?

Shane: If your name is Rafe Hernandez.

Bo: Hey, man. You picked a perfect time to pay a visit.

John: Donovan, it's Black. Can you talk us through disarming this thing?

Shane: Well, if I can't, the ISA has wasted a lot of time and money on training me.

Marlena: [Chuckling]

Roman: All right, everybody. Listen up. The expert's here, we're gonna try to disarm this thing.

Shane: All right, John. I want you to tell me, do you have the cover off the device yet?

John: Yeah, we've done that much. Over.

Roman: All right, any word on Harmon? All right, well, try to track him down. We think he's behind this.

Shane: All right, John, listen. I want you and Bo to describe to me exactly what you're looking at, all right? Every--every lead, every wire, every--the color of every wire, every contact. No detail is too small, do you understand?

John: Oh, trust me, Donovan. We're very motivated to get it right. Hope, why don't you use your camera, take some picture of the wiring?

Hope: All right.

John: All right, gentlemen. Let's shut this sucker down.

Lexie: Oh.

Chad: You okay?

Lexie: Thanks.

[Clears throat]

Chad: So what's gonna happen with you?

Lexie: Well, um... luckily, Theo has the best father in the whole wide world. Um...but to a child on the autism spectrum, I--even the smallest change can seem enormous. So this is-- [Sobbing] Um, Theo's really--he's going to need his family, okay? All of you.

Chad: Of course, anything you need.

Lexie: Okay. Um, it would help if you could-- I mean if he could start spending more time with you and EJ before I'm obviously affected by the disease.

EJ: Of course.

Lexie: And I hope you look after father. He's not young anymore, EJ. He's not used to things he can't control. [Sighs] I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's too bad he's left Kate. He's really gonna need his sons. Both of you.

Chad: Yeah. Um... I can't say no to that.

Lexie: Good. Good, I was counting on that.

Chad: How are you still together right now? I wouldn't even be able to tie my shoes.

Lexie: Ahh. [Sniffles] Well, um, something like this happens, and it makes you realize what's important and what isn't. You're a part of this family, Chad. We need you. Theo needs you.

Chad: So what am I supposed to do?

Lexie: Well, um... you know what it's like to lose your mother way too soon. When the time comes, you'll know what to do.

Chad: [Sniffles] Well, you haven't said much, EJ.

EJ: Look, Alexandra's right. Been running away from this family for a long time. For good reason, but, uh... it's time you came home.

Kate: Ian and I go way back, not that it's any of your business.

Brady: I know. I know you go way back, and now that Ian has made you Madison's partner because you're sleeping with him, and I'm in love with Madison, it makes it my business too.

Kate: Hmm. Well, you and Madison can walk off into the sunset together now.

Brady: Yeah, but the problem is when I think of Ian, the phrase, "man who keeps his word," doesn't exactly pop into my head.

Kate: Oh, I see. That must be so deeply disturbing for you since you are such a steadfast and straightforward man, right?

Brady: Kate, hold on, hold on. Let me just ask you one thing. Does it bother you that Ian is dragging his feet about this divorce at all?

Kate: Why should it?

Brady: Because I mean, think of Madison, she's smart, she's sexy, she goes for what she wants, and she doesn't stop until she gets it. I mean, these are qualities that guys like Ian really like.

Kate: Brady, how do you think I got through my life?

Brady: You're a lot like her. You and Madison. Except she has a heart. But when Ian says that he loves you and that he's completely over Madison, I have my doubts. So should you.

Ian: Don't worry, you will get your divorce.

Madison: Well, your lawyer doesn't seem to know that.

Ian: He is in a trial right now. I've already spoken to him. I told him to expedite proceedings.

Madison: Well, Justin says we can't do anything until you and I work out a property settlement.

Ian: And we will.

Madison: When?

Ian: You don't seem to understand. I want this divorce just as much as you do. I've met someone else.

Madison: Oh, Ian. When would you possibly have had time?

Ian: It's someone I knew from before. We just picked up where we left off.

Madison: Wait a minute. [Scoffs] I walked in on you and Kate. You're kidding me.

Ian: Are you really that thick or are you in denial? Besides, you know how I look when I'm in love.

Madison: Oh, Ian, it's just so romantic. I mean, back when I was hanging on your every word and bringing you your slippers, you were having an affair with her. And now, wow, you two lovers: Are getting a second chance. It's--I'm just--I'm all choked up.

Ian: Love makes the world go round.

Madison: Hmm.

Ian: There's absolutely nothing standing between you and Brady. Absolutely nothing.

Chad: [Sighs] So...when do I get to start hanging out Theo?

Lexie: He goes to therapy twice a week after school, O.T. and speech. Abe and I usually take him, but maybe you could come along and eventually, you could take him when I'm, you know, not able.

Chad: No problem. Listen, Lexie, there's--there's something I want you to know.

Lexie: Yeah?

Chad: Okay. You are the one person in this family who made me want to be a part of it. I always wanted a sister. I mean, there's still so much I don't even know about you.

Lexie: Oh, we're not out of time yet.

Chad: Ah, look at me. I'm a mess. Um... I've been a mess for a long time. It's okay. And I know I've been gone for a long time. But it's time I come home. I mean, that is if there's still a place for me.

EJ: Yeah. You know what? I think you'll find your timing is perfect.

Chad: [Sniffles]

Hope: They got to have my phone by now.

Bo: Hey, Shane. Roman should be back with you.

Shane: Did you check it out?

Roman: It's useless as a phone, but it's just fine as a camera.

Shane: Oh, lucky for us, Hope is quite a good photographer. At least we know what we're dealing with now. Bo.

Bo: Right here.

Shane: Did you find any wire cutters?

Bo: No, I've got a kitchen knife.

Shane: Well, let's just hope it's sharp. I don't want you sawing on the wires with the blade.

Bo: Yeah, well, that's the best I could do.

Shane: All right, well, just going to have to do with that. All right, tell me when you're ready to start.

Bo: Okay, is Roman there?

Roman: Yeah.

Bo: Hey, man, um, we've been talking. Would this be a good time to tell our families what's going on?

Roman: We'll do that after we get this behind us, okay?

Rafe: I think we should roll up all the rugs, stack all the furniture in that far corner. Make kind of a blast wall.

Carrie: A what?

Rafe: No, just as a precaution. We're not gonna need it, okay? We're not, I just-- I also think, although it may sound sexist, that all the women should get behind it.

Marlena: And let the menfolk take all the risks?

Bo: We got families to think about here. At least half of us should be safe.

Hope: No, I'm not hiding behind furniture while you and John and Rafe are out here.

Carrie: Neither am I, no.

John: Women.

Rafe: All right then. I guess we're all in this together.

Bo: Okay, Shane. We're ready to go.

Shane: All right, lads. Here comes the fun part.

Rafe: It's showtime.

Marlena: [Mouths] Come here.

Madison: Oh.

Brady: Hi, sweetie. How did it go with Ian?

Madison: So you know.

Brady: Yeah, I know. I ran into Kate.

Madison: Sorry. I'm sorry. I lied to you. I didn't want you to get upset.

Brady: You don't have to run everything by me. That's fine. Upset about what?

Madison: I couldn't get Ian's lawyers on the phone. I was afraid he was playing games with me again.

Brady: And you didn't take me with you because what?

Madison: No offense, but I don't think you getting in Ian's face is really gonna help anything.

Brady: [Exhales]

Madison: [Chuckles]

Brady: Good point. Okay, what happened?

Madison: Ian said that his lawyers are not avoiding Justin's calls, that he wants a divorce as much as I do.

Brady: You believe him?

Madison: He assured me that he's moving on.

Brady: [Sighs] With Kate, hmm?

Madison: She told you the same thing?

Brady: I kind of figured it out. She didn't deny it. They're a lovely couple, I think. Maddy.

Madison: What?

Brady: You're okay with that, right?

Madison: Are you kidding me? I'm thrilled if this is for real. If--if it's real, then it means you and I finally have a future.

Ian: Yes, just get me the materials we discussed as soon as you can get them to me, please. Yeah, Madison finally believes that I'm giving her a divorce. [Laughs] She wants to be with Brady Black of all people. Yes, well, get me what I asked for. Pretty soon, she'll want nothing whatsoever to do with him. Oh. You came back. Lucky me.

Kate: Are you finished with Madison?

Ian: Someone's in a mood.

Kate: Long conversation with Brady Black will do that to a person.

Hope: Okay, Bo's isolated the blue one. Should he go ahead and cut it?

Shane: Yeah, but don't disturb the white or red wires. He has to clip them in the correct order. That's--that's crucial.

Hope: Got it.

[Wire snaps]

Hope: Oh!

Marlena: Oh!

[All sighing]

John: All right. We're down to two. So...this is it.

Bo: Okay, Shane. Which one now? The red or white?

Shane: Hold on. Cut the red wire next. And, Bo, this is the big one.

Marlena: Okay. Let's get this over with and go home.

Bo: Okay, Shane. Here goes. [Exhales deeply]

[All sighing]

Hope: It's done.

Shane: Ladies and gentlemen, I think congratulations are in order.

Roman: [Laughs]

Bo: Whoo!

Rafe: Yeah!

Marlena: Oh! Ohh. [Exhales]

Carrie: [Chuckles]

EJ: And Alexandra's proven it's possible to be a loving member of this family and still disapprove of it 98% of the time.

Lexie: [Laughs] Yup.

EJ: Yeah. Just use her as your role model. You'll survive being a DiMera.

Chad: Oh, yeah? And what's the old man's gonna say?

Lexie: [Exhales]

EJ: A word to the wise, buddy. I wouldn't call him "the old man."

Lexie: Yeah, don't do that. [Laughs]

EJ: He certainly has his, uh, quirks, but his love for his children and his grandchildren is unequivocal. You have DiMera blood running through your veins. That's all he needs to know.

Chad: Well, then I'll talk to him. Tell him I'm over myself. 'Cause when something like this happens, I guess you see what really matters. And for better or for worse, this family is--is my family.

Lexie: That is exactly what I was hoping you would say. [Laughs] [Smooches]

EJ: Yeah, me too.

Madison: So you put it together about Ian and Kate around the same time that I did?

Brady: Well, I was wondering to myself, "what would make Stefano kick Kate out?" And then Ian made his big announcement about Kate moving to Mad World. There you go.

Madison: Well, I just thought that was his way of messing with me, but no, it turns out Kate is still the love of his life.

Brady: Did he say that?

Madison: He did, yes, to my face.

Brady: Well, Kate is very, very, very uneasy about this whole thing. That I could tell.

Madison: Can we not talk about Ian and Kate just--just for a while?

Brady: Sure, I don't care if we never talk about Ian and Kate. What do you want to talk about?

Madison: I am in the mood to celebrate. [Laughs]

Brady: Well, why would I stand in the way of a woman who's on a mission?

Madison: Well, that's more like it.

Brady: I like not talking.

Ian: What did Brady say to upset you?

Kate: He was just being a jerk, that's all.

Ian: Hmm, such language from a lady.

Kate: Well, I am having kind of a bad day today, if you haven't noticed.

Ian: I am sorry. Don't let Brady get under your skin. I'm sure he's always been, as you would put it, "a jerk."

Kate: You're right about that.

Ian: Let me guess. He doesn't believe that I'm going to give Madison her freedom, and now you doubt me also?

Kate: No, I'm-- that's not it.

Ian: Kate. The one thing I've always loved most about you is that you speak your mind. Are you concerned that I have strong feelings for Madison?

Kate: I don't want to play games anymore. I've had way too much of that.

Ian: This is no game. I love you. I want you. The best thing to happen to me was you walking back into my life. I want to spend the rest of that life making you happy.

Kate: "Happy." Oh, what a concept.

Bo: Ah, by the way, you didn't see my hand shaking, did you?

Hope: It doesn't matter. You did it, we're safe. Oh, thank God, we're safe.

Rafe: Hey.

Marlena: I have never been so glad to hear nothing in my life. [Laughing]

Bo: Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Roman: Damn! Damn, am I glad my sister picked you. Damn it. I don't know what the hell we'd have done without you.

Shane: Roman, the pleasure is all mine.

Roman: [Laughs]

Carrie: Yes. Does that mean we could just walk out of here?

[Bomb beeping]

Bo: Guys?

Hope: Let's go, let's get out of here.

[Bomb beeping]

Marlena: Oh!

Hope: Oh, my God.

Bo: The bomb wasn't disarmed. The timer was activated.

Hope: Oh, my God.

[Beeping continues]
