Bo: There you are.

Hope: Here I am. How was your nap?

Bo: It was good.

Hope: Yeah?

Bo: I had this interesting, kind of great dream that I opened my eyes and saw your beautiful face. Life is good.

Hope: Tell me about your dream.

Bo: Well, I was at the DiMera mansion with the old man--

Hope: This dream better have a dramatic twist, because so far it sounds really awful.

Bo: Patience, please. I mean, we're talking, and... he said that he is turning in his bad guy badge, he's gonna leave us alone to have our happy, loving lives.

Marlena: Wow. That sounds like a wonderful dream.

John: Yeah, it's too bad that real life isn't quite so rosy.

Hope: Any news from Agent Spencer?

John: Actually, yeah. Yeah, he just gave me an update on the coin. Won't be too much longer, and we're gonna understand why it's so important to DiMera.

Stefano: The clock is ticking, damn it. And if you do not get what I want from John and Hope, the time is gonna run out on you.

Santo: [Coughs] I've searched years, Stefano. And now it appears that my time is done. I need you to continue what I cannot. I need you to find the Anastasia egg... and uncover what's inside. The future of our family... depends on it, my son.

Kate: Stefano? Are you all right?

Stefano: I certainly will be as soon as you get out of my house.

Kate: I'm going to go, but before I do, there's something I have to tell you. And I want you to sit down.

Abe: Lexie, you know... I know the prognosis... but I am telling you, nobody is giving up.

Lexie: Honey--

Abe: Sweetheart... I may not be a doctor, and I may not understand this disease, but I know you, and I know this... I know in my heart... it is not your time. It can't be.

Lexie: Sweetheart, I know you're scared.

Abe: I'm terrified.

Lexie: I know. I am too. But we have each other. And we have our friends. And our family, who love us. They deserve to know.

Abe: Lexie...

Lexie: Abe... my condition is what it is. Nothing's gonna change that. It's time to start telling people what's going on. It's time.

Lucas: A proposition. What do you mean, exactly?

Sami: [Chuckles] I made a proposition. As in an offer.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, I know. I graduated from the sixth grade. I know the definition of the word. What I don't know is what you mean.

Sami: Well, Lucas, what do you think I mean?

EJ: Leave Salem? Nicole, you can't be serious.

Nicole: Yes, let's leave tonight.

EJ: But this is our home.

Nicole: It doesn't have to be. This place, EJ, this city has been nothing but bad for us. Our home is what's torn us apart.

EJ: Okay. But it's also the place that brought us together. You can't just walk away from your life.

Nicole: Yes, we can. EJ, please, let's just go somewhere where no one--where no one knows us, where we can start fresh.

EJ: It's not that simple.

Nicole: It is that simple. Look, you say you love me, that I'm the only one for you.

EJ: Which you are.

Nicole: Then this is how you can have me, EJ. It's your decision.

EJ: Nicole, please, just stop. Would you listen to what you're saying? Okay, you're talking about us having a future, which means you think that we can have one. We don't need to leave. It doesn't matter where we live.

Nicole: Stop trying to make your case, EJ. Okay, I'm not a jury or a judge you could sway. I'm your wife, and if you want to keep it that way, you'll listen to me.

EJ: I'm listening to you. I just don't know if it's possible for me to just leave.

Nicole: Why not?

EJ: Because of my children. Because of my family. Because of my job. Look, can we please just compromise?

Nicole: How is this a compromise when you're not willing to give anything up, EJ? I'm asking for one thing, one little thing.

EJ: Little thing? Nikki, it's huge.

Nicole: Oh, okay, I get it, Mr. I'll do anything. You're afraid to leave a town where you're respected and feared, that's it. Isn't it? You're so damn selfish that you don't want to give up your power.

EJ: That's not it, Nikki.

Nicole: No, that's not it? Then it must be that other thing. That person who has you wrapped around her finger.

EJ: Her. Her who? Hmm? Come on. Her who?

Nicole: I can't believe you. I can't believe you're gonna actually make me say it. Fine. Samantha.

EJ: There we go.

Nicole: There we go.

EJ: Samantha.

Lucas: I have an idea. Why don't you just tell me what you want?

Sami: I'll give you a hint. If you and I do it right, both of us could end up very, very satisfied.

Lucas: Oh. Oh, now I get it. You want me to join you for a little Pilates, is that it?

Sami: Pilates? Stop it. I'm talking serious. I think we should work together.

Lucas: Work together? That's it? You're offering me a job right now?

Sami: Yes. Don't you want to? Wouldn't that be awesome? You and me like old times, working together. We could crush Mad World. We could bring 'em to their knees.

Lucas: I knew you were up to something, I could tell. That look in your eye was all for naught, wasn't it? Let me get this straight. You want me to go into competition with my own mother?

Stefano: I don't want to hear another word, all right? Get the hell out of here.

Kate: It's important. It's about Lexie.

Stefano: You know something, you shouldn't even mention her name after what you've done.

Kate: Stefano. Stop! She's sick. She's dying, Stefano.

Stefano: What did you just say?

Kate: Your daughter is sick, and she needs you.

Stefano: I can't believe it. I can't believe you would say anything just to get my attention.

Kate: I know you don't want to believe it because it's coming from me, and I wish I didn't have to tell you, but it's true.

Stefano: It's a lie!

Stefano: [Cell phone ringing] Yes, hello?

Lexie: Father, it's me. Do you have a minute? There's something I need to tell you.

Lexie: I was wondering if you could come down to the hospital so we can talk in person.

Stefano: No, no, sweetheart, look, I don't want to come down there and bother you while you're working.

Lexie: I'm not working. Please. It's important.

Stefano: I'll be right there. I've got to go.

Kate: I'm going with you.

Stefano: No.

Kate: Stefano, please, I know you're angry at me, but I love her too.

Stefano: Please, God, don't let this be true.

John: According to Spencer, the code on our half of the coin was so heavily encrypted, the I.S.A. had to enlist the help of two other agencies.

Hope: Were they able to crack it?

John: Well, partially, given the information provided 'em.

Bo: What'd it say?

John: This. It gave us a name. Yvette.

Bo: Yvette? Doesn't ring any bells.

Marlena: Whoever she is, she is clearly connected to Stefano. We just have to find out how.

Hope: And fast.

John: Mm-hmm. Before DiMera decides to make good on those threats.

Lucas: You know, you really have lost your mind if you think I'm dumb enough to go up against my own mother or work for Stefano.

Sami: You wouldn't be working for Stefano. You'd be working for me.

Lucas: It's his company. I doubt he's gonna give you any power anyway.

Sami: He's got a million companies to run. He put me in charge of Countess W for a very good reason.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, to tick off my mom. That was the reason.

Sami: Well, probably, but he also knows that I can do it. Come on. Lucas, you know you want to. You and me running Countess W, ramming it down Mad World's throat.

Lucas: Doesn't my mother hate you enough? Trying to start World War III. Is that what you're trying to do?

Sami: Don't worry about me. You just go with your gut. Say yes.

Lucas: My gut's telling me to get the hell out of here right now. That's what my gut's telling me.

Sami: Oh, I know a good bluff when I hear one. I know you want this.

Lucas: Oh, yeah?

Sami: Yeah.

Lucas: I got to go.

Sami: You can't leave without giving me an answer.

Lucas: [Clears throat] I'll be in touch.

EJ: You honestly think that I want to stay in town to be with Samantha Brady?

Nicole: Yes. She obviously has some sort of pull over you, EJ. I mean, it doesn't matter how happy we are, she always finds a way to reel back you in.

EJ: Sweetheart, I love you. I want to be with you.

Nicole: That's exactly what you said to me right before you slept with her.

EJ: I don't know what to say.

Nicole: Obviously, there's nothing to say. You've made your decision. You have chosen Sami over me yet again.

EJ: I haven't chosen Samantha over you.

Nicole: Mm.

EJ: I'm well aware of the mistakes that I've made, but I'm putting those in the past, because I want to start afresh with you and our baby.

Nicole: How many times do I have to tell you? This is not your baby!

[Cell phone rings]

EJ: Excuse me, I have to take this. Hey. That's fine. I'll be right there. I'm sorry. I have to go.

Nicole: Yeah. I get that.

EJ: You know I wouldn't go if it weren't important.

Nicole: I guess we're done here.

Bo: You know, it's strange that something so small could hold so much infor--okay, we've got half the coin, so obviously only half of the code.

Hope: So we need the numbers and the letters on the other half of the coin.

Bo: Exactly.

Hope: Okay, so we need to find the other half of the coin, and we've got to do it before Stefano does.

Stefano: I don't understand--

Kate: Did you check her office?

Stefano: Of course I checked her office.

Kate: Well, then maybe she's with a doctor.

Stefano: Look, I can't stand here. I'm gonna go look for her, okay?

Kate: Oh, my God.

Lucas: There you are.

Kate: What are you--what are you doing at the hospital?

Lucas: Your assistant told me you were here. Is everything okay?

Kate: God, no. Lucas, it's not. Lexie is... terribly sick.

Lucas: She's sick?

Kate: Yeah.

Lucas: What do you mean? How sick? She's gonna be better, right? She's gonna be okay?

Kate: No.

Lucas: Poor Lexie.

Kate: I know, sweetie. I'm sorry to tell you. She--as soon as I found out, I went to the mansion to tell Stefano and--

Lucas: He must be freaking out right now.

Kate: To say the least. Plus, he's still furious at me, so I'm the last person he wanted to see, though.

Lucas: Well, I still think you did the right thing, Mom. Despite everything that's happened.

Kate: Thanks, baby. I know you didn't come here to talk about Stefano, though. What's up?

Nicole: Oh! Perfect. Just perfect. Well... you have got to be kidding me. [Scoffs]

Sami: [Clears throat] Hear congratulations are in order.

Nicole: They are.

Sami: Congratulations... bitch.

Lucas: Mom, there's something that came up--

Stefano: This is ridiculous.

Kate: Well, did you find Lexie?

Stefano: Does it look like I found her? I mean, you know this hospital is filled with absolute nitwits. Do you understand what I'm saying? Not one person could help me.

Kate: Listen to me, I think that you should sit down.

Stefano: What do you mean, sit down? I want my daughter.

Marlena: He's back.

Hope: Must be back to harass us about the coin.

Bo: Yeah, well, I got something to say to him.

Hope: No, you have nothing to say to him.

Bo: Would you let go of me?

Hope: Brady, no. Stop. You're still weak. Stay where you are.

John: I'll take care of it.

Hope: Stay there, please.

John: I thought I told you we don't have what you're looking for, so back off. Do you hear me? We're done with your games, pal.

Kate: What is wrong with you? Can't you see he's in pain?

John: What hurts this man?

Lexie: Father.

Stefano: [Gasps] Oh, sweetheart.

Lexie: I'm here.

Marlena: What is going on here?

Kate: His daughter is dying. That's what's going on here, so just leave him the hell alone.

John: We need to find Abraham.

Hope: You go ahead. I'm gonna stay here with Bo.

Stefano: All right, now... tell me everything.

Lexie: I have a brain tumor. It's inoperable. There's nothing anyone can do.

Stefano: No, no, no, come on. I mean, I'll talk to the doctor.

Lexie: No, no, she's only gonna tell you the same thing.

Stefano: Well, fine, then I'll just find a better doctor.

Lexie: No. No, Father... no doctor is going to give us the answers we want.

Stefano: Sweetheart--

Lexie: No. We have to face the facts, okay?

Stefano: No, no, I'm not facing any facts. We're not gonna give up. You understand? And you are not going to give up.

Kate: Lexie, look, I don't know what to say, but I just want to say that I'm so sorry.

Lexie: Thank you.

Kate: Is there anything I can do?

Stefano: Yes. Leave.

Lucas: Come on, Mom. Let's go.

Kate: That's okay. I'm sorry.

Lexie: Thank you, Kate. Thank you.

Lucas: She was just trying to help. I'm sorry.

Lexie: Why'd you just talk to her like that?

Stefano: Look, I can't stand her, okay? I mean, you're the thing that I care about, all right? I'm gonna call--I will call the doctors at an organization that I know, and we will--

Lexie: Okay, no, no, no, no. Put your phone away. Okay? Listen, this isn't something that one of your magical phone calls can fix, okay?

Stefano: Alexandra--

Lexie: All right, stop, stop, stop. I know you want to fight. Okay, trust me, I did too. But the reality is...

Stefano: It's all right.

Lexie: Sometimes fights aren't meant to be won. Okay?

Stefano: Mm-hmm.

Lexie: So accept this, okay? Okay?

[Door opens]

Abe: Oh, um... I take it you've heard.

Marlena: We're so sorry.

Abe: Thank you.

John: Yeah, we just got word. So what are they saying?

Abe: It's--it's a tumor. There's no cure. There's no miracle drug. There's-- there's no hope.

Marlena: Abe, look at me. There's always hope. And no matter how dire things seem, you never give up hope.

John: Anything we can do?

Abe: Uh, I don't know. I mean, I don't even know what I can do. She's my life, John. She's my entire world.

John: I know. I know.

Abe: You know... she's a doctor. Supposed to save lives.

Marlena: I know. She needs you right now. And she needs you strong.

Abe: Yeah. I know. I-I... I don't know how I'll go on without her.

Sami: You know what, Nicole, I'm not gonna let you spoil my good mood. But just, you know, a girl tip, the whole jealousy thing is not flattering.

Nicole: You think I'm jealous of you? [Laughs]

Sami: Yes, actually. There's lots to be jealous of. I have a great new job, and I have a great place to live, and I have four incredibly beautiful children. You have no job, no place to live, and no money to support your soon-to-be baby.

Nicole: You think you've earned everything you have? Everything you have fell in your lap, and I mean that quite literally.

Sami: All right, I'm done talking to you. I actually have a job to go to. So I'm gonna go do it. Excuse me.

Nicole: You don't deserve it. You know that? Leaving you was the best thing Rafe ever did because he deserves a loving wife and children of his own someday.

Sami: Someday? What does that mean, Nicole? Whose bun is that in your oven?

Nicole: Of course this is Rafe's bun in my oven.

Sami: Really? Nicole, why are you squirming?

Nicole: I'm not squirming. Your presence makes my skin crawl.

Sami: If it really is Rafe's, then why would you say something like that? Why would you say Rafe deserves to have children someday?

Nicole: What's wrong with you? My baby isn't even born yet. You know my medical history. Are you really that insensitive? Ho-ho, wait. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go sell my stock in Countess Wilhelmina. That's if it isn't already trading below a penny.

Lucas: I just don't think you should let him talk to you that way, that's all.

Kate: Okay, so what do you want me to do? Do you want me to tell off Stefano DiMera? He already hates me. I don't have a death wish, Lucas.

Lucas: I just don't understand how you could still have feelings for the guy, that's all.

Kate: I love him.

Lucas: Even though he ripped your company out from under you?

Kate: Trust me. I'm furious with him about that. But I betrayed him. I broke his heart. Now he wants to break mine.

Lucas: Well, you're taking this surprisingly well.

Kate: Because I understand how he thinks. I probably--I'd probably do the same thing. Stefano and I are alike in that way.

Lucas: Oh, you mean impulsive, unforgiving, and dangerously aggressive? That way?

Kate: Yes. Yes, in that way. And that's why I'm going to insist that you stay clear of Sami.

Lucas: Don't do that, all right? Don't start that again.

Kate: No, no, no, darling, you listen to me. That bitch took what was mine, and she's going to pay, so, unless you're willing to be a casualty of that war, you will keep your distance.

Stefano: Elvis. Your sister has--

EJ: No. I heard. You sure?

Lexie: Yeah. The tests are conclusive. There's nothing anyone can do. Well, I'm gonna go find Abe. He's probably in my office.

EJ: Yeah, no, we'll go with you.

Lexie: Okay.

Dr. Yu: Dr. Carver.

Lexie: Ah, Dr. Yu. Yes, I'd like you to meet my father and brother, Stefano and EJ DiMera.

Dr. Yu: Pleased to meet you both.

Stefano: How you doing? Elvis, would you please take your sister to her office? I want to spend a moment or two with the good doctor.

Lexie: Father, I'm sure Dr. Yu is very busy.

Dr. Yu: It's all right, Lexie. I'd be happy to speak with him.

Lexie: Okay.

Stefano: Yeah, all right, sweetheart.

Dr. Yu: Mr. DiMera, how can I help you?

Stefano: Well, I mean, you can tell me what you are going to do to help my daughter.

Dr. Yu: The best thing we can do right now is palliative care. Making her comfortable.

Stefano: No, no. The best thing that you could do is keep my daughter alive. Now, if for some reason you don't feel that you can do that, I will take things into my own hands.

Sami: Are you all right?

Lucas: I just got back from the hospital.

Sami: What's wrong?

Lucas: Lexie. She's sick.

Sami: Yeah, yeah, EJ and I had talked about it.

Lucas: Sami, she has a brain tumor. She's dying.

Sami: Oh, my God. God, that's awful.

Lucas: Yeah, it is. Just taking all that in has really got me thinking how unpredictable life is. And, I mean it, if anything ever happened to you or our kids, I'd be lost.

Sami: Lucas, Lucas. We can't worry about the kids like that. You know what, they're healthy. They're healthy, and they're happy. And, you know what, you shouldn't worry about me either. What? I'm fine. You shouldn't worry.

Lucas: Yeah, you're fine now, but my mom's got a price on your head. She'll do anything to ruin you. You know that.

Sami: That's not gonna happen.

Lucas: You're right it's not gonna happen. 'Cause I won't let it.

Lexie: Oh, Abe's not here. He must be looking for me. I better go find him.

EJ: Alexandra, could we talk for a minute?

Lexie: Yeah.

EJ: So how much time do we have?

Lexie: Not enough. Not enough.

EJ: It's okay. You don't have to be strong. You can cry. That's what I'm here for.

Hope: Will you hold me a little tighter? Oh, my God, Bo. I know what they're saying is true, but... I can't believe it. I don't want to believe it. How could this be happening to Lexie?

Bo: I don't know.

Hope: It's just so unfair. She's so young. She-- and what about Abe and Theo? That sweet little guy. He's gonna grow up without his mommy.

Stefano: So do we understand each other, Dr. Yu?

Dr. Yu: Mr. DiMera, I know who you are, and I am well aware of your reputation. But no amount of threats, ultimatums, or money can cure your daughter.

Stefano: But something has to be done.

Dr. Yu: I know you love your daughter very much. And if I were you, I would spend my time at her side, rather than wasting it searching for someone to blame.

Stefano: You're right. You're right. I apologize.

Dr. Yu: No need.

Stefano: But I just--I don't understand. I mean, what is--is this something that's genetic?

Dr. Yu: There could be any possible reason. But most commonly tumors such as Lexie's develop as a result of an exposure to a specific gas.

Stefano: A gas?

Dr. Yu: Yes. In high quantities, the gas can be quite toxic, even fatal.

Stefano: How in the world can she come in contact with something like this?

Dr. Yu: Anywhere from a factory to a power plant. In its most natural form, the gas can be found underground.

Stefano: Underground?

Dr. Yu: Yes, particularly in the old mines and tunnels found in this part of the country.

Stefano: Oh. [Mutters] [Speaking Italian]

Sami: What does that mean?

Lucas: It means I've got your back.

Sami: You have my back, as in...

Lucas: You offered me a job, right? So I'm taking it if the offer still stands.

Sami: Really? Hmm. Well, I don't know. I mean, what happened to the whole you don't want to go up against your mother thing?

Lucas: I was concerned. But my mother left me no choice, so...

Sami: Lucas, you're gonna be so glad you did this. It's gonna be the best decision of your life.

Lucas: Yeah, well, just don't make me regret it, okay?

Sami: [Chuckles]

Bo: How's Abe?

John: Devastated.

Hope: Of course he is. Have they told Theo yet?

John: Mm, no, not yet.

Hope: How do you even begin to explain something like this to your child? It's just so heartbreaking.

Bo: You know, I got to go home.

Hope: Wait, wait, Brady.

Bo: What?

Hope: We have to wait for the doctors to sign--

Bo: No, I'm not gonna wait. I want to see my daughter.

Marlena: And you'll see her. But if you try to rush your recovery, you'll end up right back in that bed.

Bo: I just got to hold her. That's all. I just want to hold Ciara.

Hope: I know.

John: Tell me something, Doc. Why is it that it always takes some bad news like this to remind us just how fragile life is? And how we just can't take the people that we love in our lives for granted?

Marlena: I love you too.

John: Not as much as I love you, girl.

Nicole: Yes, I will be your wife, fully and completely.

EJ: We're gonna get it right this time.

Nicole: I love you.

EJ: I love you.

Nicole: [Groans] Oh, God. Ah!

Lexie: Thank you for being here for me. I need some more tissue. Oh, God.

EJ: I'm your brother.

Lexie: Oh.

EJ: Of course, I'm gonna be here for you. [Clears throat]

Lexie: [Laughs]

EJ: So... you wanna tell me what I can do? I must be able to do something.

Lexie: Nope. There's nothing.

EJ: There's something. There's some way I can take the burden away from you. Can I call people? Can I call Chad?

Lexie: No. No, I-I think this is something I should tell him in person.

EJ: You're amazing. You know that?

Lexie: No. I-I know--I don't know about that, EJ.

EJ: Okay. I do.

Lexie: Okay.

EJ: You don't deserve this.

Lexie: Nobody does. But...what can I say, EJ? I mean, these things happen. Sometimes for no reason at all.

Dr. Yu: Mr. DiMera, are you all right?

Stefano: I'm fine. No, I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm fine. I wonder, Doctor, if you wouldn't mind telling me again what it is that my daughter has, because I think I misunderstood you.

Dr. Yu: I said that it's possible for Lexie's tumor to have developed from a result of an exposure to--

Stefano: Toxic gas, like, underground in a tunnel or something like that?

Dr. Yu: Exactly. But then again it's hard to be certain.

Stefano: I see.

Stefano: [Exhales] My God. It can't be my fault.

Abe: What did you say?
