Nicole: Right, two ice cream sundaes and one spoon. [Slams phone down] God! Is something wrong with me?
Daniel: You're pregnant.
[Knock at door]
Nicole: That was fast. Oh, God, go away! Go away!
EJ: Please, Nicole, I'm so sorry. Please?
Marlena: Hi, sweetie, it's me. Um, look, I'm getting a little worried. I'd like you to just call. Call me, okay? Thanks. Bye.
[Cell phone ringing]
Marlena: Oh, you want a rematch, huh? [Chuckles] All righty, you're on. "Knock...
[Knock at door]
Marlena: Knock." That can't be worth much. Oh, it's you! Hi.
Marlena: Oh! Oh! Oh! "Knock."
Will: Who were you expecting?
Marlena: Nobody. I'm just not always very comfortable unless John's home.
Will: Okay. So... aren't you gonna ask what's in the bag?
Marlena: Nah. Yes. Supper?
Will: No, but depending on your answer, we could order in.
Marlena: Okay. The answer to what?
Will: Well, since you're all by your lonesome and John isn't here, I thought maybe we could ditch the e-game... and duel the old-fashioned way-- me, you, old school.
Marlena: No... you, me--yes, you are so on.
Marlena: Should I call for Chinese?
Jack: You're telling me that this is our son's report card?
Jennifer: Why are you laughing? Those are all "A"s and "B"S.
Jack: I know.
Jennifer: And look at this letter from the dean. That's amazing.
Jennifer: Who would have thought that JJ would love boarding school the way he does?
Jack: Yeah, who would've thought it? He better love it, with tuition at those prices.
Jennifer: I miss him, Jack. I miss him so much. But he's happy, and that's important.
Jack: Yeah, he certainly seems happy. I was just thinking about the first time that Alice laid eyes on him. What was it your grandmother said? She called him--
Jennifer: Oh, she called him a keeper.
Jack: A keeper! "He's a keep--he's a keeper." And he is.
Jennifer: Yes, he is a keeper.
Jack: She was right. She was always right.
Jennifer: Yeah, which is-- I'm so glad you reminded me. I'm supposed to meet Aunt Maggie here today. Do you know that today would have been my grandma and grandpa's 72nd wedding anniversary?
Jack: Wow! 72nd. Hey, you mind if I stick around?
Jennifer: Oh, no. No, of course not.
Jack: I'll bet you that, uh, Maggie's really, really glad that her, um-- well, that Daniel's back in town.
Jennifer: Uh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, I'm sure she is. And Melanie probably, too.
Jack: I was gonna ask you how you felt about Daniel being back, but judging from your expression, I think I already know.
Roman: What's going on, Kayla? What's going on? What's happening?
Kayla: I lost his pulse again!
Roman: Hey, hey I saw the EMT outside--what happened?
Kayla: They were in a fight. I don't have a pulse!
Daniel: Here, move over. I got this. I can take over. I can take over.
Roman: Bo. Bo!
Kayla: Can you hear me, Bo? Bo, can you hear me?
Hope: Have you seen this man?
Stefano: [Sighs] Good evening, Hope. Hey, and look who's not so far behind--the ever-doting husband. So I gather you two have been looking for me.
Daniel: Let me see. Let me check this.
Kayla: Oh, listen, we need a CBC, Chem 7, and a propyl chest film.
Daniel: And as soon as he's stable, we'll take him downstairs for a head C.T.
Nurse: Got it.
Kayla: Why don't we go outside and let him do his work?
Roman: Okay. Kayla... is he going to be okay?
Kayla: Um, we pumped him full of fluids on the way over here and got his B.P. up. I think he's doing as well as we could possibly expect right now.
Roman: I thought we were gonna lose him.
Kayla: You need to get yourself checked out too.
Roman: I'm fine, okay? I'm not leaving here till Bo wakes up. He is gonna wake up, right?
Nicole: Leave me alone, EJ, please--
EJ: Five minutes--that's all I'm asking for. Just give me five minutes, please. All I want to do is apologize for my actions.
Nicole: By "actions," do you mean sleeping with Sami?
EJ: I made a colossal mistake, okay? One I'm going to regret for the rest of my life. We have to get past this, Nicole. We can't--would you please come home with me?
Nicole: Never. Do you really not get what you did?
EJ: Yeah, I committed an indiscretion with a woman who means absolutely bloody nothing to me. Nothing! All right? And I'm bloody well not going to lose you over this!
Jennifer: I-I-I'm--I'm fine with Daniel being home. He's back on staff at the hospital. I mean, he's not doing surgery.
Jennifer: Uh, what?
Jack: You're holding something back. I only say that because whenever you hold something back, you do something with your mouth-- this thing.
Jennifer: No, I don't.
Jack: Jennifer, Jennifer, it's cute, but it's a dead giveaway every time.
Jennifer: I don't know what you're talking about, Jack. I don't do anything with my mouth.
Jack: Jennifer. Jennifer! It's me. You're talking to me, remember? If there's anything that bothers you about Daniel, you can go ahead and tell me. Go ahead.
Roman: Kayla, you're not answering my question.
Kayla: I can't promise you that Bo's gonna be all right. But I can tell you that he is in the best possible hands.
Roman: I do know that. Daniel brought him back last time we almost lost him.
Kayla: Listen, you have got to take care of yourself too.
Roman: Look, I got our brother into this mess. I feel responsible. I mean, my God, if you hadn't been there when I dragged him into the pub...
Kayla: Are you kidding me? You're the one that saved his life. If you would have waited where you were for the paramedics, we would have lost him. Do you know how I can get a hold of Hope?
Roman: I tried to reach her. I couldn't get a call through to Alamainia. How am I gonna break this to her when I do?
John: You lousy son of a--
Hope: John, don't. An I.S.A. agent winds up dead right after you roll into town. Now, why is that?
Stefano: Ah, so that's who you were waiting for when I saw you the last time.
John: Don't even try to side step me. If you didn't kill him yourself, it was done on your orders.
Stefano: Look, don't you think we ought to try to find some private place where, if we're going to discuss this--
John: Yeah, right. Like we're going anywhere with you.
Stefano: [Chuckles] Actually... [Chuckling] I insist.
Johnny: Where did Mommy and Grandma Caroline go?
Rafe: Well, when I found out that you guys were gonna be staying the night here, I asked 'em--I said, "Hey, is it okay if I tuck you guys in?"
Allie: Why don't you tuck us in at home anymore?
Johnny: Because, Allie, Mommy made him mad. Right?
Will: Do you recognize this one? It's the very same board that you taught me how to spell with when I was younger. Actually, you did a lot of things that my mom probably should have done.
Marlena: Your mom was incredibly busy.
Will: Oh, I know. And she sucks at spelling anyway.
Marlena: [Coughs, laughs] Don't do that when I'm--
Will: [Laughing] Sorry.
Marlena: You know what? We never finished the conversation we were having when your mother walked in.
Will: Check, please.
Marlena: Oh, that's really funny.
Marlena: You are so cute, you goofball. You did the hardest part. You told me that you were drawn to somebody else.
Will: Yeah, I... kissed him.
Will: "And"? Isn't that enough? [Sighs]
Kayla: How's he doing?
Daniel: Well, we transfused two units of "O" negative. Chest X-rays are clear, and crit is--it's holding steady.
Roman: What does that mean?
Kayla: It--we're just trying to avoid surgery on his internal injuries.
Roman: And his head--what about that?
Daniel: Well, there's some trauma, some swelling. But we just need to be patient and wait for it to subside. But I can promise you this-- we will do whatever it takes to make sure Bo survives.
Kayla: He's stable, Roman. Now, that's a hell of a lot better than he was an hour ago, right?
Kayla: Okay, listen, I'm gonna go and tell Mom that he's hanging in there, all right?
Roman: All right, good, good. Okay.
Kayla: And listen to me, you go get yourself checked out. Stop making me beg, okay?
Roman: I will do that. I will do that.
Kayla: Thank you. All right.
Roman: All right, uh... can I go see him now?
Daniel: Yeah, yeah, no, absolutely. Just don't stay too long. He needs his rest.
Daniel: I'll come back and check on him shortly. All right.
Roman: [Sighs] Okay. Damn it, you win. You scared the hell out of your big brother, okay? So wake up now. Hope doesn't know yet. So, uh... will you do me a big favor and please give me some good news to tell her, okay, when she does find out? And one more thing... I am so sorry. I walked us right into that ambush. But I promise you this... we will find the bastards who did this, and they will pay.
Stefano: I think that we should have this conversation out of the public eye.
Hope: You are completely out of your mind. Leave here to walk into one of your traps?
Stefano: Do you think I am setting a trap for you and John?
John: Same kind of trap you set for Agent Walsh. Odds are we're next on your list.
Hope: If you're gonna kill us, Stefano, you'll have to do it right here.
Marlena: Well, I can understand that you wouldn't want to have the conversation with your grandmother.
Will: That is not it. You know, it's just that it's hard for me to put it into words.
Marlena: Well, I think you like that young man. And I think there was something appealing about him for you.
Will: Well... his name was Neil, and he was nice. I mean, he was easy to talk to, but I didn't plan on doing what I did. It just kind of happened.
Marlena: That once? Did you see him again?
Marlena: It's okay if you had, you know. Look, I'm just guessing here. Tell me if I'm way off base. But I think you're feeling guilty, like you did something wrong.
Will: I did do something wrong. And I can't change it. I mean, it's over. But I can make sure that it never happens again.
Marlena: Oh, well, that's one way to play it, yeah.
Will: Meaning that...
Marlena: I think you're letting your head make a decision for your heart.
Will: You know, no offense, but for a very smart therapist, you're starting to sound a lot like my fortune cookie.
Marlena: [Laughs] All right, fine! What I mean to say is, don't overanalyze what is already a natural impulse-- something that happened in the moment.
Will: But I was drunk.
Marlena: Yeah, I know. And that kiss meant something to you. So the sooner you can figure out what that is, the sooner you'll be able to get comfortable with yourself.
Will: But what if I can't? You know, what then?
EJ: Nicole, please. You can't just let one mistake-- it doesn't matter how ghastly it was--cost us our entire future.
Nicole: It wasn't a mistake. You don't accidentally go to bed with someone.
EJ: You know how it happened. We were overcome by grief, Nicole. The television is on, and they're telling me that my son's body has been identified.
Nicole: So you-- you do what any person would do under the circumstances-- you made love!
EJ: We didn't make love, all right? We had sex. Nicole, I loathe that woman just as much as she loathes me. You have to know that.
Nicole: Oh, so that makes everything better. Okay.
EJ: I need you... to understand exactly what... happened between the two of us so that you can begin to forgive me.
Nicole: Do you know how many times I have done that? I forgave you when you dumped me for my sister, and you promised me that you would never cheat on me again. And, God help me, I believed you!
Nicole: But my hat's off to you, EJ, because you managed to drive that knife even deeper. You slept with the one woman that I despise most in this world.
EJ: Can you please just give me a chance to make it up to you?
Nicole: Why, so you can patch my heart back together just to tear it apart again? No, thank you--I will pass this time, EJ.
EJ: Please, Nicole, just-- I promise you, I will never hurt you again. Let me prove that to you.
Nicole: No, EJ... not this time. Pretty embarrassing, you know. I'm no smarter than the voters who pulled the lever for you on Election Day. You promised them, and me, our heart's desire knowing full well that you couldn't deliver. But you know what? Lucky for me, I'm not stuck with you for the next four years. I get to pretend you never existed. Well, time's up. Get out!
EJ: I'm not going anywhere.
Nicole: Fine. I'll leave.
Jack: Let me guess. Daniel heard that you and I were not together, and he made a major play to get you back.
Jennifer: No, no, Jack, not at all.
Jack: No? All right. Then what is it?
Jennifer: He, uh-- he said that he was afraid if he saw me that it would bring up old feelings.
Jennifer: And it didn't. So that's it. He is totally and completely over me.
Jack: Uh... just a minute.
Stefano: I have no intention of killing you... [Chuckles] At least not yet.
Hope: Very reassuring.
Stefano: Oh, and for the record, okay... I have no idea who killed your agent.
John: Walsh. You knew his name. You knew who he was, what he was investigating, and where he'd be. And then you took him out.
Stefano: Well, you can believe whatever you want.
Hope: You really expect us to believe your turning up the day he died was just a coincidence?
John: You know, I'm a simple man, so why don't you explain it to me. If you're not guilty of Walsh's death, then why are you holding us at gunpoint?
Stefano: Oh, why, for my own protection, of course.
John: I see.
Stefano: Get back.
John: Or what... you'll shoot? You know I'd snap your neck before you pulled the trigger.
John: Yes. You programmed some amazing talents in my brain. And I remember every second I spent as your pawn. You... trained me to be a highly efficient killing machine, so... if you don't tell me what I want to know right now... I just may have to resort back to those old ways.
Roman: How's Ma? No, Kayla, that was the right call. Ma shouldn't see Bo like this. Did you get a hold of Victor? Okay, good, good. Keep trying to get a hold of Hope, okay? All right, thank you. Yeah. All right, sis, I'll be in touch. I love you. Bye.
Daniel: Uh, give me propofol, 100 mgs.
Nurse: Yes, Doctor.
Roman: What's going on?
Daniel: There's some indication of some increased pressure on your brother's brain. We just don't want him to have a seizure--that's all, okay? It's nothing to worry about. Just be calm, we'll get--
Nurse: Dr. Jonas, his E.E.G. is at 23.
Daniel: Okay, okay. Mannitol, now! Now! Let's go!
Rafe: Well, sometimes mommies and daddies don't always get along... just like sometimes you guys don't always get along, right? So we took a little time-out.
Sydney: What happened?
Rafe: Oh, well, you know, we just didn't get along, and that's why I'm not staying with you guys right now.
Allie: Is that why my daddy came back?
Rafe: No, sweetheart. Lucas came back because he loves you, and he misses you guys so much. That's why. Just like I love and miss you guys. And even when I'm not there, I still love you and miss you. And I won't be gone long or be far away.
Johnny: Scout's honor?
Rafe: Scout's honor.
Jack: [Sighs] Your grandmother always liked her roses.
Jennifer: Jack, they're beautiful. I can't believe you remembered.
Jack: Of course, I remembered.
Jennifer: They're perfect. Thank you.
Jack: You're welcome.
Jennifer: And thank you for caring enough to ask about Daniel.
Jack: I saw that it hurt you.
Jennifer: It's okay. It's my own fault.
Jack: Well, I don't like seeing him hurt you, but... maybe--maybe it's none of my business... but it's his loss.
Nurse: Intracranial pressure is back down to 19.
Roman: All right, that's good, right?
Daniel: We're keeping the edema under control.
Roman: What's wrong? Something wrong?
Daniel: His pupils, uh, aren't reacting to the light.
Roman: What does that mean?
Daniel: I'm afraid to tell you that, uh... Bo has slipped into a coma.
Roman: Come on, no. No, that can't be. There's got to be a way to--
Daniel: That's not necessarily bad news, Roman. It's his body telling us that it needs to cope with the injuries the he suffered in the attack, okay? Bo just needs to rest. So stay optimistic. There's something good about positive energy, so you just keep that, all right? All right, I'll be right back.
Roman: Okay, thanks. You listen to me, okay? You get better for Ciara and Hope. Come on, little brother, they need you.
Stefano: Why is it that every time something bad happens that you always assume that I am responsible?
Hope: Because you always are.
Stefano: Uh-uh, not all the time. Are you forgetting that I am the one that got him off that embezzlement charge, hmm?
John: Oh, yes. And if you remember, I paid you a little visit because I knew you would exact a price for that. So is this it? Is that why you followed us here? Come on, why don't we just cut to the chase and get to the end game?
Stefano: Ah, see, you based everything again on the false conclusions.
Hope: Then why'd you follow us here? Why are you here at the same time we are? You knew we were coming to end this bogus marriage that you made.
Stefano: If you want to call your marriage bogus, fine, okay? If you feel more comfortable. But... [Chuckles] If my memory serves right, hmm, you two were very much in love with each other. [Chuckles] I realize I did a little manipulation on my own, but when it comes to your own feelings, they were very much yours. See, you two... fell in love on your own.
Will: You know, I always figured that I'd get married and... like to have kids and be normal. [Chuckles]
Marlena: You are normal. You are perfectly, beautifully, deliciously normal. All you've got to do is figure out who it is that you are and fall in love with that person.
Will: Wow, that sounds so easy.
Marlena: Yeah, I know. [Laughs] Of course, it's not. But if anybody can do it, my darling boy, that would be you.
[Cell phone ringing]
Marlena: Oh, wait, wait. Sorry, that might be John. Hello?
Roman: Yeah, it's me, Roman.
Marlena: Oh, hi, Roman. Have you heard from John? I've been trying to reach him.
Roman: This is about Bo. He was attacked. He's in a coma.
Maggie: Hi. It's nice to see you, Jack.
Jack: You too.
Maggie: Does that mean that the two or you are...?
Jennifer: Uh, we are--
Jack: Friends. Friends.
Jennifer: We're friends.
Jack: And parents of two great kids.
Jack: I hope you don't mind my tagging along.
Maggie: No, not at all. You know what Alice would say.
Both: The more, the merrier.
Jack: Yeah, yeah.
Maggie: Can you believe that they would have been married... 72 years ago today? Yeah, if it wasn't for Tom and Alice, I might not have stuck it out with Mickey. They always had a way of making everything right. They're still here.
Roman: What did the tests show?
Daniel: Well, we won't get most of the results back until tomorrow. But I really think you need to go home and get some rest. Your brother wasn't the only one who was attacked.
Marlena: Roman, you were hurt too?
Rafe: No, no, no, I'm fine. I just got banged up a little bit--nothing major.
Daniel: Excuse me.
Will: What happened?
Roman: Well, we tried to surprise some bad guys. They beat us to it. I've been trying to reach Hope all evening.
Marlena: She doesn't know about this?
Roman: Not yet, no. But Kayla's still trying to get through.
Marlena: Roman, I haven't been able to reach John either.
John: You know none of this is gonna work, Stefano. We see through your denials and your cover-ups, and even this pathetic attempt to drive a wedge between me and Marlena and Bo and Hope.
Stefano: [Sighs] Don't believe me, then.
Hope: You wanted us here without Bo and Marlena for a reason.
John: And now you're gonna tell us what it is.
Nicole: [Gasps] EJ...what, are you stalking me now? You better walk away right now, or I will start screaming at the top of my lungs.
EJ: Don't. Can we please just go somewhere and talk about this in private? Can you at least hear what I have to say?
Nicole: I don't need to do anything for you. Get that through your head. I am never gonna give you another chance to hurt me again.
EJ: Nicole, please.
Nicole: Let go of me! Don't touch me.
Rafe: Hey... you heard her. Get your hands off of her. You okay?
EJ: Get lost, Hernandez. This is between me and Nicole.
Rafe: The lady asked you to leave. You should leave.
EJ: I'm warning you-- mind your own business.
Rafe: Or what?
EJ: You'll find out exactly what happens when you interfere in a private conversation between the mayor and his wife.
Rafe: [Chuckles] Okay, Mr. Mayor... is that a threat? Because considering what you've done to me, it would seem kind of ass-backwards.
EJ: I really don't think that you want to be going there, Rafe.
Rafe: Going--going where? You mean talking about the fact that you slept with my wife? That you ruined my marriage and my family? There? Is that what you mean? Huh?
EJ: Keep your voice down.
Rafe: Oh, oh, okay. Right. I'll keep it down, because you don't want your constituents to hear about the real you, at least not until you're officially in office. Is that right?
EJ: Don't you and your partner have some ambulances that you can just run around and chase? Hmm?
Rafe: I should rearrange your face again.
EJ: Threatening me?
Rafe: I am.
EJ: Okay. I'm not quaking in my boots, in case you hadn't noticed.
Rafe: Yeah, maybe not now, maybe not tonight, maybe not this week or this month. But trust me, the day will come when you are... 'cause I've lost everything. You've taken everything that mattered from me, and I'm not gonna rest until you feel the same way. Although from the looks of things, maybe you already are. Now, either you can leave the lady alone, or I'm gonna call my buddy at The Spectator and give him a scoop for the morning edition.
EJ: This isn't over. I'm not giving up on you.
Rafe: Yeah. [Clears throat]
Stefano: [Chuckles] I knew it. I couldn't try to get something past you two. No, sir. [Chuckles] I needed to get you thousands of miles away from Salem just so that I could go through with my plan of blowing up the middle of Horton Square.
John: You know, I wouldn't even put that past you.
Hope: You completely isolated us, forcing us to come here alone.
Stefano: You know, you didn't have to come at all if you--
Hope: Yeah, but you knew that we would, didn't you?
John: Mm-hmm. The second we landed, we were asked--no, correction-- we were ordered to surrender our passports.
Hope: We can't even get a phone call through to the United States. Everything that's happened since we've gotten here, it all reeks of you--all of it.
Marlena: John, it's important. I need you to call me the minute you get the message. Thank you. Bye. What if something's happened to them?
Roman: Doc, look I'm sure it's just lousy phone service. It's a long way away.
Marlena: Hope would be here in a second if she knew what was happening. Oh, uh... outside, please.
Roman: [Sighs] You know that if you really needed some time off, all you had to do was ask. I'd have given it to you. You rest, okay, Bo? And you get better, you hear me? You get better. Now, I know you haven't listened to me one time in your entire life... but now would be a really, really great time to start. All right? So please... please get better. All right, buddy? I need you to get better.
Marlena: How is he? Doctor to doctor.
Daniel: I really can't be sure.
Marlena: I wish Hope were here. If he could feel her presence, her love... I know that would make a difference.
Daniel: Well, there's nothing like needing to be with someone you love, huh? And they're nowhere to be found.
Nicole: Yes. Yes, I'm fine. Thank you for showing up when you did.
Rafe: Yeah. God, I wanted to wring his neck.
Nicole: I know how you feel.
Rafe: You need a lift home or something?
Nicole: My home is a hotel room close by, but thank you anyway.
Rafe: Okay. Well, you have my cell phone number if you need anything, right?
Nicole: I do. Yeah, you gave it to me a while ago for emergencies for the kids.
Rafe: Yeah. Ecch! That's what I hate about this the most-- how it affects them.
Nicole: They're so innocent.
Rafe: Yeah. We just try and protect them from our mistakes.
Nicole: [Chuckles] Yeah, you're right. When you see Johnny and Sydney, will you, um--will you tell them I love them?
Nicole: Um... I'm gonna go. I have some melting ice cream waiting for me.
Rafe: Excuse me?
Nicole: Nothing. Thank you.
Daniel: Well, I need to go on my rounds. I'll be back to check on Bo later. Okay?
Marlena: Mm-hmm. Thanks.
Roman: What were you and Daniel talking about that, uh, you couldn't say in front of me? He keeps saying he's optimistic, but, uh... that isn't true, is it, Doc?
Marlena: I don't know, Roman. I'm sorry.
Roman: He could still die.
Marlena: I'm afraid it's not looking terribly good.
Stefano: [Groans] You know, I've come far too far to have to go over and over the same old speech again, all right? I mean, for goodness sake, if Marlena blows her nose in Salem, I'm at fault here? [Chuckles] I may be powerful, but I am not omnipotent.
[Cell phone ringing]
Hope: Oh...I have a signal. Oh, my God, 16 messages. Oh, God.
John: What is it?
Hope: Bo's in the hospital. He's been beaten. He was attacked. I better call the hospital right away. Damn it! There's no signal, John. I'm completely powerless here.
John: We're going home.
