[This is missing the last 10-15 minutes.]

Sonny: Hey, Will. It's Sonny again. I've been all over town looking for you. Can you please just give me a call back when you get this? I'm really worried about you. If you need to talk, you know I'm here.

[Cell phone ringing]

Nicole: [Gasps] Oh, my God. What are you doing here?

Daniel: What kind of greeting is that?

Nicole: I'm sorry, Daniel. I... I didn't know you were back.

Daniel: Yeah, I just got back in town today. In fact, I flew in-- you all right?

Nicole: It's been a rough night. To be honest, it's been one of the worst nights of my life.

Carrie: Rafe... what's going on? You just seem really upset. What happened?

Rafe: You got enough problems of your own. You don't need to hear about mine.

Carrie: Well, I can help you.

Rafe: [Scoffs] Yeah.... I doubt that. [Sighs]

Carrie: Hey, whatever it is, I'm still your friend. Not to mention, you're my brother-in-law.

Rafe: Yeah, well... not for long... not the last part anyway.

Carrie: What does that mean?

Rafe: Oh, it just means that my marriage has been a damn lie. Sami cheated on me with EJ.

Sami: How could you do it? How could you tell Rafe that I had sex with EJ? God, I can't believe--

Marlena: I don't... know what you're talking about.

Sami: You don't? Really? You know that Rafe came to me and he confronted me tonight. He knows that I betrayed him. He said that he is never going to forgive me.

Marlena: Oh, honey, I'm so sorry.

Sami: Don't "oh, honey" me. You did this. You told him everything. You ruined my marriage.

Rafe: So, after Sami admitted what she'd done... I went to pay a visit to our new mayor himself.

Carrie: I don't like the sound of that.

Rafe: I would've killed him. But there were too many witnesses, so...

Carrie: What happened?

Rafe: Well... suffice to say, the only good thing that happened was Nicole was there. EJ had just proposed to her. So... when she heard what he had done, well, obviously everything hit the fan.

Carrie: Sounds like there was plenty to go around.

Rafe: Yep.

Carrie: [Sighs] I have to admit, I still can't believe that my sister would cheat.

Rafe: That's the part that surprises you?

Carrie: No, no one knows better than I do what Sami is capable of, but after what she witnessed with John and Marlena, she always swore that, that was the last thing that she would do.

Rafe: Yeah, well... I guess that was just another one of her lies.

Carrie: No, I-I don't think it was. I-I-I mean, Rafe, don't you see? She must have been out of her mind with grief. Otherwise, there's no way that she would have let that happen.

Rafe: Are you trying to justify what she's done? 'Cause...

Carrie: No! No, no, I'm just--I'm trying to understand, and I think, to a point, I do. I mean, I know how much she loves you... and how much she despises EJ.

Rafe: Oh, yeah, she despises EJ enough to have sex with him. It doesn't matter. You know, whatever, however-- just-- it was all a lie. It's all our marriage has been. It's just... been one big lie.

Marlena: Honey, I'm so sorry that happened tonight. But I promise you, I did not say a word to Rafe. I wouldn't do that.

Sami: Will, did you tell him?

Will: No.

Sami: How the hell did he find out?

Marlena: We don't know how he found out, but, Sami... maybe it's for the best.

Sami: Are you really going to say "I told you so" right now?

Marlena: No, I was going to say it could be for the best, so now you and Rafe can begin to heal.

Sami: [Scoffs] Obviously you weren't listening. He is so hurt. He is so angry. He has made it clear that he is not going to forgive me, which is what I knew would happen. And no matter how hard you push me, I knew I shouldn't tell him. You just couldn't take it. You thought what you wanted was for the best. You have to stop trying to help me. You don't know me. You don't know my situation. All you're doing is hurting everybody.

Daniel: Do you want to... talk about tonight?

Nicole: No. I can deal with it on my own. I always have.

Daniel: I know you do, and I know you can, but it doesn't mean you have to.

Nicole: [Sighs] Come on, Daniel, it's not like we're friends. I'm sure you have better things to do than listen to me whine about my pathetic life.

Daniel: Hey, I just spent the last three weeks contemplating my pathetic life. I think I could use a change of pace. It'd be welcome.

Nicole: Thank you. But I think I'm going to get going. Welcome back.

Daniel: Okay.

Nicole: And I'm sure I'll see you around.

Daniel: Yeah, well, you can bet on that. It's one of the comforts and the curses of small-town living, right?

Nicole: Yeah. [Groans]

Daniel: What is it? Nico--Nicole? Nic?

Rafe: You know, I always knew that Sami had a way of twisting the truth in her own mind. I just never thought she would do something like this to me... lie to me like this.

Carrie: What is it?

Rafe: Maybe it was my fault. Maybe I wasn't there for her like she needed me to be.

Carrie: Oh, that is crazy. Do not blame yourself.

Rafe: Yeah, well, I wasn't. Instead of trying to figure out what she needed, what was missing, I... decided to spend my time here, open this business with you.

Carrie: No, Rafe. This is not your fault. Do you hear me? None of this is your fault.

Will: Excuse me, Mom? Grandma just told you that she didn't tell Rafe, so she didn't tell Rafe, okay? She's not the liar in this family. That's you.

Sami: All right... you don't know everything, Will. You don't know what she is really capable of, how many times she has destroyed my life.

Marlena: Oh, that's not true, and you know it.

Sami: You told Rafe. Didn't you? You destroyed my marriage. That is the worst thing you could do to me.

Will: What are you talking about? Seriously, what are you talking about? Grandma didn't make you have sex with EJ. I think you did that on your own. Seriously, stop blaming everyone else for your mistakes.

Marlena: Will, please try to stay calm.

Will: I'm trying, but it's hard around her. I can't even stand being around you anymore. I'm going to go.

Marlena: Honey, please... we were in the middle of an important conversation. I'd like us to be able to finish that.

Sami: I'm sorry I interrupted your important, private conversation. I would advise you, though, Will, you keep confiding in her, you never know what she's capable of, and keep in mind that she did just destroy our family.

Marlena: Sami... if you can't take responsibility for your own actions, then for once in your life, please stop talking. Will... let's finish that conversation.

Will: Um, I can't. I'm sorry--not with her around. I mean, if you haven't noticed, she makes everything about herself, and I can't handle that right now.

[Door opens, closes]

Daniel: Nicole. Hey, Nic.

Nicole: Mm.

Daniel: Nicole, hey.

Nicole: Where am I?

Daniel: Brought you to the hospital. You fainted.

Nicole: [Sighs] I was trying to make a dramatic exit.

Daniel: Mission accomplished.

Nicole: [Laughs]

Daniel: I'm having some tests run. Um, did you eat anything at all earlier?

Nicole: Yeah, actually, I was having a very romantic dinner, right know, I just have had an emotionally exhausting evening, and that's probably why I fainted. You know what, I'm fine, actually.

Daniel: Whoa, no, no, wait, wait, wait a second, wait a--no, no, you're going to stay right here in bed and you're going to rest until those test results come back. Just chill, chill out. I got this, I got this. In fact, why don't I--I'll call EJ and have him come sit with you, okay?

Nicole: No, no, no. I don't want him to know where I am, okay? He's the last person I want here.

Daniel: So you're saying you don't want me to call EJ. Don't you think I should, I don't know, call somebody to come be here with you?

Nicole: No. If there's one thing I've learned have to take care of yourself, because, if you rely on other people, they will just let you down.

Rafe: You're probably the last person I should be talking to about my marriage problems.

Carrie: You're probably right.

Rafe: Yeah. But I don't know who else to turn to. You understand. I know I'm not completely innocent when it comes to the problems that Sami and I were going through.

Carrie: Rafe, I hope you know I'm so sorry that I helped cause some of these problems with you and Sami.

Rafe: No, no, no, no. Listen, you did not. You did not, okay? No. Would you stop, okay? You know, all that, that was after the fact. Besides, Sami did a hell of a lot worse. I mean, she--she more than kissed EJ, you know? The whole distance between us, it was because of her lies.

Carrie: I know.

Rafe: And when she found out that I kissed you, she kicked me out of my house? My house? I mean--and she knew what she had done. How does she do that? How does she treat me that way?

Carrie: She must have felt incredibly guilty.

Rafe: [Scoffs] You are unbelievable.

Carrie: What? What do you mean?

Rafe: After everything she's done to you, the way she's treated you, you still give her the benefit of the doubt? Amazing.

Carrie: Okay, I--you know what? We've got to get out of here right now.

Rafe: Why?

Carrie: Because--well, just-- you are going to thank me later. Let's go.

Rafe: No, what are you--

Carrie: Come on, get your coat and your phone. Come on. Here, phone. Coat. Let's go. You will thank me, believe me.

Rafe: I will?

Carrie: Yep.

Marlena: I'm worried about Will. He's in a lot of pain right now.

Sami: You think I don't know that? You think I don't remember what it felt like to walk in on you and John on that conference room table?

Marlena: That's not what I was talking about, but, yes, he is in pain over what he saw you doing. But right now, he's got much bigger things on his mind.

Sami: Like what?

Marlena: Sami, it's not my place to tell you that.

Sami: That didn't stop you from blabbing to Rafe.

Marlena: Now stop it! Just stop that. Can you see that your son is going through hell? Can you just stop being so self-absorbed for a moment and maybe be there for your son? Be there for him for once.

Sonny: Will. Hey. You get my messages? Where you been?

Will: my Grandma's.

Sonny: Were you able to... talk about what happened tonight?

Will: Well, I told her that I...kissed a guy.

Sonny: Okay.'d she take it?

Will: She wasn't surprised. She said that she had been suspecting what I have been going through for a while now.

Sonny: That's good, you know. So she was cool with it.

Will: Yeah.

Sonny: What else did she say?

Will: Um, unfortunately, we didn't get to finish our conversation.

Sonny: It's hard to talk about?

Will: No, my mom showed up and she started raving like a lunatic.

Sonny: About you?

Will: No, uh...[Laughs] She, uh...she accused Grandma of telling Rafe that she had sex with EJ. And then she thought it was me, and then she went back to Grandma. [Laughs] And I decided, at that point, it was time for me to take my leave.

Sonny: Wait, she--so does this mean that...Rafe knows...

Will: Uh, everything? Yeah. Yeah, it's finally happened, Sonny. I have no family anymore.

Nicole: What are you doing?

Daniel: I really don't have any place to go tonight, so... um, I'm going to keep you company.

Nicole: [Scoffs] Why, um...why are you being so nice to me?

Daniel: What?

Nicole: I was under the impression that you only tolerated me because I was Chloe's friend.

Daniel: No, no, I never had a problem with you, Nic. It was the company that you kept.

Nicole: Ah. EJ.

Daniel: Yeah.

Nicole: Oh, God, you'd think I would have learned my lesson by now.

Daniel: Was he the reason you're all upset? Okay, I know you said you didn't want to talk about this earlier, but here's what I'm thinking. I'm thinking maybe it could help--maybe--if you just, you know, just get it off your chest, vent.

Nicole: Vent?

Daniel: Vent, let it go.

Nicole: Okay, maybe you're right. It's the same old stupid story. EJ made me fall in love with him, and then he broke my heart in the worst--and I mean worst-- possible way.

Rafe: You haven't touched your soup.

Carrie: I was here earlier with my Uncle Bo.

Rafe: Why didn't you say so?

Carrie: Because my grandma's clam chowder is the best, and I think you need it. Usually comes with a side of advice as well.

Rafe: Mm, I could definitely use that.

Carrie: I think I know what she might say.

Rafe: Really? Well, lay it on me. I'm all ears.

Carrie: She would say that marriages are tough and sometimes people make mistakes.

Rafe: Yeah.

Carrie: I don't know if you know this, but a long time ago, my Grandma Caroline had an affair with Victor Kiriakis when she was married to my Grandpa Shawn.

Rafe: Yeah, that's why Bo's Victor's son.

Carrie: Mm-hm. And Sami may not have told you this part, but my Grandma kept it from my Grandpa for a very long time. In fact, until Bo was completely grown up.

Rafe: Well, that must have been great for everyone.

Carrie: Especially my Grandpa Shawn. I was just a little kid when it happened, but I will never forget how hurt and angry he was.

Rafe: I'll bet.

Carrie: But in the end...

Rafe: Mm? Oh. They worked things out?

Carrie: Oh, they didn't just work things out. He not only said that he forgave her, he really and truly did, and they had many more happy years together because of it.

Rafe: Right. And that's what you think I should do with Sami?

Carrie: I'm saying that marriage is a commitment and it's one of the most important things you do in your life. And sometimes it feels like it would be easy to just walk away, but if you stick with it and tough it out, it's worth it in the end.

Rafe: You really believe that?

Carrie: Yeah, I do.

Sonny: Wait, hey, how did Rafe find out?

Will: I don't know. Obviously, mom and EJ didn't tell him. Grandma wouldn't tell him. I know I didn't tell him.

Sonny: Well, I hope you don't think I said anything. I swear, I didn't say a word to anybody.

Will: No, no, I know. I trust you.

Sonny: Look, I'm really sorry. I know you're trying to keep your family together, especially your brother and sisters. But think about it this way. You don't have to carry that burden around, that secret, anymore.

Will: True, yeah.

Sonny: You know, and then with you coming out to your grandma and everything else--

Will: Wait, wait. I didn't say that I came out.

Sonny: Well, yeah, but you told her you kissed a guy. I'm assuming she, you know, just connected the dots.

Will: Sonny, just 'cause I kissed a guy doesn't automatically mean that I'm gay.

Sami: I have tried to get him to open up to me and he won't. And it is not just because he hates me for what I have done. It's because of you. Because he knows he has you. You, he can rely on, and he doesn't need me.

Marlena: When John and I were in Switzerland, Will came to see us. He was living with Austin and Carrie because he wasn't getting along with you.

Sami: Yeah, yeah, that's ancient history.

Marlena: Is it? He doesn't rely on you, Sami, because he doesn't think that he can.

Sami: He told you that?

Marlena: No, he didn't. He didn't have to. For years, Will has been the parent in this relationship. He's had to look out for you. He does it because he loves you so much. But maybe now, you can start looking out for Will. Maybe now, you can be the parent that he deserves.

Nicole: I knew...I knew getting involved with EJ again was a mistake. After everything he did to me in the past--

Daniel: Exactly, then why'd you do it?

Nicole: I don't know. I don't know, okay, I guess because I thought...things would be different. Because I was stronger, because I knew what I was getting myself into. I thought all I was getting into was a job, I guess--

Daniel: Well, then, what happened, what happened? Just--then what?

Nicole: He broke down my defenses.

Daniel: Yours?

Nicole: Yes, and I fell in love with him. And I swear, he felt the same way about me.

Daniel: Well, then, what went wrong?

Nicole: [Sighs] He cheated on me...again. With Sami, of all people.

Daniel: I would not have seen that one coming.

Nicole: And, of course, he lied about it...for months.

Daniel: I'm--I'm sorry.

Nicole: Don't be, don't. I deserved it.

Daniel: What do you mean, you deserved it?

Nicole: I deserved it for letting him back into my life. What is it they say, "fool me once"?

Daniel: No, stop being so hard on yourself.

Nicole: No, I need to be harder on myself, Daniel, because I--look, fairy tales like this, they don't happen for people like me.

Daniel: You don't know that.

Nicole: I do know that. Believe me, I know. I know, but I'm fine with it. And EJ--he made me believe... that I-I could have that kind of love, that kind of happiness. And when I actually started to think that I could have everything, he snatched it out from under me. I hate him, Daniel. I hate EJ for what he did to me. I hate myself for letting it--

Daniel: No, no, don't--

Nicole: For letting him in and letting him do this to me!

Daniel: You don't have to.

Nicole: Why am I so stupid?

Daniel: Stop, you are not.

Nicole: How could I let him do it to me?

Daniel: You're not stupid. Shh, hey, hey, hey.

Nicole: I'm so sick of it. I'm so--I hate him so much. [Sobbing]

Daniel: Shh, shh, shh, shh.

Sami: All right. I'm a terrible mother. I hear that. I want to know what's going on with my son. Just spell it out for me. Damn it, Mom, this is Will we're talking about!

Marlena: You must understand. You must know that Will speaks to me in confidence.

Sami: What does that mean? That you're just telling me now to lord it over me that you know something I don't?

Marlena: Of course not. Nothing would make me happier than to see you and Will reconcile, for both your sakes.

Sami: Then tell me what you know.

Marlena: Sami, you're his mother. You've known him since the day he was born. Are you saying that you haven't seen signs of what's going on with Will? Not at all?

Sami: He's mad at me for what I did, and he's been acting out because of it, but...but no, he's a great kid. He's a good student. He works hard. He's a wonderful big brother. Is there something wrong with him? Is he going to be okay?

Marlena: Yes, I think he will.

Sami: But you don't--but you don't know. You're not sure.

Marlena: I can tell you what I do know for sure. He needs his mother now. Your support is so important to him, and how he comes through this will depend in large part on you.

Sonny: Will, I'm sorry, man, okay? You know I don't mean to push you. I just thought you had things figured out for yourself.

Will: No, not really, I don't. I'm not...

Sonny: You're not what?

Will: I've been fighting these feelings for so long... and I-I thought--or, like, I hoped that, um...that, in time, they would go away. And now I'm afraid that they're not ever going to go away. I'm scared. I have no idea what to do.

Sonny: It's gonna be okay. It's gonna be okay.
