Austin: I want to tell you something. I'm gonna ask you something, and you feel free to say no... or you can feel free to tell me that I'm absolutely crazy.
Austin: How would you feel about moving back to Zurich?
Austin: Yes. Yes, Zurich. Do you remember...where we used to be happy? A place where we never argued. I mean, Carrie, we've fought more since we've been in Salem than we have in our entire relationship. You realize that, right?
Carrie: You're right.
Carrie: Yeah. Maybe we should do it.
Carrie: Yeah. I don't want to jump into anything, but it could be really good for us.
Austin: Carrie, I think so too. I really do. And I really love you.
Austin: It's okay. Everything is okay. It's just us now.
Melanie: Hi, Abigail. Oh, my gosh, you're crying. What's wrong? Hey...what's wrong?
Will: Do yourself a favor-- stop trying to figure my Mom out. Because she's just being her usual crazy self.
Rafe: She's not crazy, Will. You keep saying stuff like "Too much has gone on" or "She can't deal with it."
Will: Well, there's always something that she can't deal with.
Rafe: But what? But what? I know that I shouldn't have kissed Carrie, but that's all that I did. And she keeps hinting that something else is going on. And I think you know what it is.
Roman: [Sighs] Wow. All right, tell me something. Is this a vacation request or a practical joke?
Bo: I just need some time off, man.
Roman: To go to Alamania so Hope can get a divorce.
Bo: It's no joke. And, no, she doesn't want to get a divorce from me. It's from John.
Roman: John? Will you please tell me there's an explanation here that makes at least a little sense?
Bo: [Chuckles] Wouldn't make any sense to the man on the street, but for you, a one-word-explanation. Stefano.
Ian: There's someone here for you, my darling.
Brady: Darling? Darling? Um, who are you?
Ian: Oh, forgive me, I've forgotten my manners. I'm Ian... Madison's husband.
Brady: Husband? Madis--
Ian: Honey, aren't you going to introduce me to your friend?
Brady: You're kidding me, right? Who is this guy?
Ian: This guy? Well, I mean a lot more to her than that phrase implies. Who are you?
Brady: What, are you serious about this husband thing? What is this?
Ian: Well, that's not something I would joke about. Why don't you join us for a drink? We can all get cozy, a little better acquainted.
Madison: It's late.
Brady: What the hell's going on here, hmm? Is this guy for real? Are you married?
Melanie: All right, I don't understand. I just saw you, and everything was great. What happened?
Abigail: I saw-- I saw him...
Melanie: Okay, all right, look, whatever it is, it's not that bad.
Abigail: It is that bad!
Melanie: Okay, all right. Just breathe. Just take a deep breath. Good. Okay, good. Now, tell me what happened.
Abigail: I saw him with her.
Melanie: Him who? Him--your him? The mystery guy him? Who was he with? I'll kill her!
Abigail: His wife!
Melanie: He's married?
Abigail: They were kissing. They were kissing at the town square, right in front of everyone. He can't go back to her. He can't, because... he and I, we're so right together. We're so right together, and it was finally gonna happen for us.
Austin: Do you, um...
Carrie: Want to go back to our place? Yeah, I do. Let's go.
Will: Why do you think I know?
Rafe: Why? Because I saw you, Will. I saw the way you were looking at your mother at the loft, okay?
Will: That's because I was upset, Rafe. And I didn't think, and I still don't think, by the way, that she has any right to kick you out of your loft.
Rafe: And? That's all?
Rafe: I'm having a hard time here. Okay, I'm not asking you to betray your mother, but if something did happen, I have the right to know.
Ian: You can't be surprised to hear that Madison's married. A wonderful catch like she is? I get the impression you know my wife rather well. Well, I'm new here in town, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but I haven't met all the players yet. Do you work for Madison? Are you a colleague, perhaps?
Brady: Do I work for her?
Ian: Why don't we start at the beginning? Let's start all over again. I'm Ian McAllister. I'm Madison's loving husband. You are?
Will: Okay, when you left the room to get your charger, Mom did try to explain to me what was going on between you two.
Rafe: What'd she say?
Will: She blamed the whole thing on Aunt Carrie. She said that Carrie has always tried to steal the men in her life. And it happened with Austin, it happened with my dad. To be honest, though, my mom was always the one trying to steal the man away from--
Rafe: Will. Will...
Will: Okay. Anyway, she said it's happened again with you. And--and that's what she meant by "everything that's going on." She just sees this as it's not an isolated incident for her.
Rafe: Well, she'd be right.
Will: Yeah, she would be.
Rafe: She told me not to take that job with Carrie. I should have listened.
Will: No, you should-- don't go there. You're the best thing that has happened to her, and I know that, and my Mom knows that.
Rafe: She's the best thing that's ever happened to me. So are you kids, though. I'm sorry I dragged you into this. I know you've got your own life to deal with, your own stuff.
Will: No, no, you don't have to apologize. I mean, I'm involved, you know. Like it or not.
Rafe: I'm gonna fix this. I am. Somehow, I will-- I'll make this up to her, and I'll get our relationship back to where it's supposed to be.
Melanie: Okay, let's-- we'll go back to your house and we'll talk about it. I mean, this is maybe just a misunderstanding.
Abigail: No, it was definitely not a misunderstanding! God, how could he do this to me, Melanie? He knows how I feel about him, and he-- he and I, we-- I don't know, I thought he was as committed as I was.
Abigail: Oh, God.
Melanie: Um...you don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but did you-- did you guys sleep together?
Abigail: Austin. Austin, wake up. Yeah. Yeah, we did.
Melanie: Oh, my gosh. Okay.
Bo: So Mrs. H and Stefano put a sealed envelope in that safe deposit box.
Roman: All right, wait, let me get this straight, okay? Alice Horton was blackmailing Stefano DiMera.
Bo: And vice versa.
Roman: What the hell did she have on him?
Bo: That we will never know. That was Stefano's condition on opening the box is that we hand him the envelope sight unseen.
Roman: And you let him get away with that?
Bo: Well, we had no choice. Hope wanted to see what Stefano had on the family. It was driving her crazy.
Roman: Yeah. And now?
Bo: And now the truth might be more difficult to handle than the secret.
Roman: Yeah, I guess so.
Bo: Yeah, but I for one am glad it's out in the open, and we can take care of this mess.
Roman: All right, you know what, I'll... I'm gonna tell you something here.
Roman: I am still not understanding how this happened.
Bo: Yeah. Who does understand? Somehow, Stefano had control over John and Hope. Whatever. And they exchanged vows while they were in Alamania.
Roman: Damn. John and Marlena know?
Bo: Yeah, now they do.
Roman: What do you do now?
Bo: Well, you go to Alamania and fix this thing. And you understand why we want to do that right away.
Roman: I'm sure Stefano is enjoying every minute of this.
Bo: Yeah. And I would kill to know what Alice had on him.
Roman: [Chuckles] Oh, you and me both.
[Knock on door]
Officer: Commissioner Brady, look who we just got.
Bo: That's the button man for Alfredo Maroney.
Roman: Who is one of the top names on our "Most Wanted" list.
Roman: I'll tell you what, why don't you see what you can find out from the perp. I'll go get the details outside from Officer Kasaris.
Bo: Kasaris, bring him in. Thanks, man. Wow. Having one of those days, huh? Well, why don't you fill me in, tell me what happened. I obviously have not read the arrest report, so you can set the record straight. Give me a reason not to throw the book at you.
Man: No way, man, I know my rights.
Bo: Yeah, you do, don't you? You've been our guest before. You know what, you know what, instead of going to prison this time, why don't you play it smart? Okay, I'll give you some time to think about that, all right? Be right back. What's his story?
Roman: The guy was shaking down a store owner on Fifth Street, offering protection for a price. The store owner is willing to testify.
Bo: That's good. Yeah, he's been arrested twice, so thanks to "three strikes," he'll be going in for good this time. Could explain why he's so nervous.
Roman: Nervous enough to roll over on his boss?
Bo: If we play our cards right, we may have a shot at Maroney.
Roman: That name would be a big get for Abe's crime program right before the election tomorrow. Suspect's all yours. Go get him. With any luck, we'll have Maroney behind bars tonight.
Bo: Yeah. Here.
Brady: What is it? Does this guy have something on you? Why aren't you saying anything?
Madison: Brady, please, let's just--
Ian: Oh, Brady. Oh, so we have a name. Well, that's a start. Now, about the drink...
Brady: Listen, forget this guy. Just look at me and tell me... what's going on here?
Bo: This is a good day for the citizens of Salem, as you will no longer be walking the streets. Your days as a free man, over.
Man: We'll see.
Bo: Yeah, we will, 'cause we have a victim who is willing to testify. So your "three strikes" conviction's...a done deal. Don't worry, I'll make sure you get that corner cell with the view of the barbed wire. Because you will be a long-term resident of the State Pen. That is, of course, unless one of the other prisoners decides to cut your stay short. That kind of thing happens far too often, and... usually it's kinda messy. But as you know, there's another option. You can make a deal. You tell us something we already know. You're not out there working on your own. You're following orders. Maroney's orders. You tell us that he's up to his neck in this protection racket, and I can guarantee you the D.A. will cut a deal.
Man: Then I'll be a dead man for sure.
Bo: Aw, come on, you've heard of the witness protection program. Thing is, you're gonna have to make up your mind quick because this window of opportunity... gonna close very quickly. So don't burn up too many brain cells. I'll be right back.
Roman: Good work.
Bo: Yeah, I think we're close.
Roman: All right, I guess it's time to bring Rafe and Carrie in on this.
Bo: Hmm, I though you heard. Our partnership with them has been dissolved.
Roman: Why? What happened?
Bo: I really don't know. But whatever happened, they're not working together.
Will: Look, I hope that you do not blame yourself for this whole thing.
Rafe: How can I not? I stood up and I made a vow to your mother. A promise, Will. A promise that should count for something. It has meaning. Or it's supposed to, anyway.
Will: You-- you weren't unfaithful. Look, a kiss is a kiss, okay? Look, if you're gonna be married to my Mom, you can't sweat the small stuff, okay?
Will: She has no right to make you do that.
Rafe: Will, you don't understand. I get it. I know that your mother has made mistakes. We all have. But I don't consider this small stuff. Okay? I didn't just let her down, I let you kids down and... these vows, they're supposed to mean something. They did mean something. Okay?
Will: Okay, stop! Seriously, stop it.
Austin: Well, here we are. Hotel room, sweet hotel room.
Carrie: [Sighs] I'm sorry, Austin.
Austin: Okay, Carrie, honestly, you really have to stop saying that. It took two of us-- two of us to get us to where we are right now. And right now we're just-- we're here. We're here, we're alone... which is exactly where we should be. And we're feeling exactly what we should be feeling. You and I are gonna fix this. We can fix this if we just love each other enough.
Carrie: Of course we can.
Abigail: How could this be? How could something that I was so sure of just be gone?
Melanie: Okay, um... did you know he was married when you guys started...
Abigail: Yes, I did. But--but their marriage was in trouble. She--she didn't understand him, and she totally took him for granted. And then, when she really hurt him, that's when the two of us came together.
Melanie: Right. Okay.
Abigail: I wanted to help him. And he was so grateful. He appreciates me more than anyone ever has, Mel. And that's why we connected, because I knew what he needed and I gave it to him. Stop looking at me like that.
Melanie: Oh, sorry, sorry.
Abigail: Even though I had all those feelings for him, I kept my distance because I knew that he was married.
Melanie: Okay. Good. That was a good call.
Abigail: But then I saw him last night, and when he found out what she had done, it was over. It was over. And... I just don't--I don't understand how he could be with Carrie now.
Melanie: What? Carrie? Austin and Carrie? Abigail, are you talking about Austin?
Madison: Brady, I didn't-- it wasn't supposed to happen like this.
Brady: Are you saying you really do know this guy? That when he says you are married, it's--it's--
Ian: You know, I'm getting a bit concerned here. You're starting to sound as though you have a connection to my wife.
Brady: Well, I didn't know about you. And you clearly had no idea about me.
Roman: Yeah, yeah. No, I get what you're saying. Yeah, sure. I'll be in touch.
Bo: Our suspect is about to roll on Maroney. We're gonna finally get that bastard.
Roman: Bad news.
Roman: Not gonna happen.
Bo: Oh, come on, I got him right where I want him. What are you talking about?
Roman: That was the D.A. on the phone. Somebody got to our vic. He's not willing to go on record with anything anymore.
Roman: Pretty good bet. Yeah. Which means our friend down in lockup gets cut loose.
Bo: Come on, man, give me one more shot at him. If he breaks, then we'll have the evidence against Maroney--
Roman: He won't. He won't, Bo. Not now. It's too late. We lost this one, okay, at least for now.
Bo: Come on, we can't give up now. I'll do whatever it takes to get that punk to talk.
Roman: Come on, you sound like you want to break his head open.
Bo: If that's what it takes, I'll do it.
Roman: You calm down, little brother, all right? Now, I know you're frustrated about this whole John and Hope thing, and you want to take it out on a suspect. But he's not Stefano! Now, come on, you know I'm right.
Bo: Son of a--
[Knocks on table]
Bo: Yeah, yeah, you're right. There's more to the situation. There's a hell of a lot more to it. There always is when Stefano's involved.
Roman: Hey, and nobody knows that better than I do. But this anger at Stefano is not gonna help us get Maroney.
Bo: Son of a bitch!
Melanie: Okay, Austin, um... Abigail, look--
Abigail: Look, it's not something that just started. It's been building for a long time for both of us.
Melanie: Okay, but Austin and Carrie are...
Abigail: What? So happy? So in love? Yeah, I used to think that too, Melanie, but Carrie hasn't been around. She works all the time. She was working to try and clear John, then she was starting this new business with Rafe, and she never had any time for Austin and it really hurt him.
Melanie: Babe, they're married.
Abigail: Oh, God, never in a million years did I think that this would be me. It didn't start like this, you know. I used to think of him as just a friend. A mentor, a really nice guy.
Melanie: Well, he's a really hot nice guy.
Abigail: Yeah, maybe, but... I don't know, the more time we spent together, the more it just started to build, and we had this connection. And we both felt it. We both knew that it was there. And then we finally... made love, and... it was everything that I knew it would be. So after that... to go back to her after that, I just-- I don't understand how he could hurt me like this.
Rafe: I'm sorry. I keep saying I don't want to drag you into this mess, and that's exactly what I keep doing, isn't it?
Will: It's okay. I know you're upset and that I'm upset.
Rafe: No, I just want to make things right with your mom, that's all.
Will: You know, I don't think I can say anything else that's gonna help. So sorry, and I gotta go because I gotta get a permit for the "get out the vote" rally for EJ for the election tomorrow.
Rafe: Yeah, listen. You know, about that, Will, just-- you know, you're-- you're working with EJ, and you're accepting all these gifts from him... I'm just worried about you. That's all.
Will: Don't be, because-- I mean, I know what I'm doing. Having that apartment is a gift from God right now. I can't stay at the loft.
Rafe: [Chuckles] Yeah. Well, listen, I gotta head down to the station anyway, so I'll give you a lift.
Will: Oh, no, no. That's okay.
Rafe: No, no, no, no, listen, it's the least I can do. I've been talking your ear off. Come on.
Ian: You're right, young man. I do not know you. But my instincts are beginning to tell me a great deal. I go away. It's unavoidable. But when it's finally done, and I'm able to return to you, this is what greets me.
Ian: Is it true? Is this man your lover? Have you betrayed me?
Will: Didn't you say the permit office was this way?
Roman: Hey, Will, Rafe.
Will: Hey, Grandpa.
Rafe: I'm gonna talk to Bo for a second. Give me a minute.
Roman: Will, I'm glad you're here.
Rafe: Bo, I've got some news.
Bo: Good news, I hope.
Rafe: [Chuckles] Yeah. About the job that Carrie and I were gonna help the department with.
Bo: Oh, yeah, I talked to her about that.
Rafe: You did?
Bo: Yeah, she was doing some personal work for me, and she told me you guys weren't working together anymore. But she didn't give me any details. Care to enlighten me?
Roman: Yeah, thanks. I'll be in touch. Sorry about that.
Will: No, no. So what do you want to talk to me about?
Roman: Well, some paperwork crossed my desk from your friend Sonny.
Will: Paperwork? What kind of paperwork?
Roman: He's applying for a business permit.
Will: Oh, he's going for it with the coffeehouse idea?
Roman: Yeah, yeah. Good for him.
Will: Yeah, so, um... why do you want to talk to me about that?
Roman: I just want you to tell Sonny if he has any trouble, he can come to me.
Will: Okay. What kind of trouble?
Roman: Well, Salem is a pretty tolerant town. We've got a lot of smart people that live here, but we also have our share of jerks and troublemakers.
Will: What does that have to do with Sonny?
Roman: Sonny's a great kid, but he's out, and he's not shy about it. And now that he's opening a business, well, there might be some people not as accepting as we'd like.
Will: He's just opening a coffeehouse, though. I mean, I don't think anyone's gonna have a problem with that. I don't think he has anything to worry about.
Roman: I hope not, Will. I hope not. But when a business opens, if people think-- and the people we're talking about are the jerks and the troublemakers-- if they think that business is gonna cater to a certain clientele that they don't approve of, even if that's not the case, trouble can follow. And not just for them. For the families too. So you tell Sonny if anything like that does happen, do not hesitate to come to me.
Will: Okay. You know it is 2012, so...
Roman: Oh, I do know, Will. I do know that, and I'm sorry. And believe me, I hate it every bit as much as you do, but unfortunately, that is reality. Even in 2012.
Austin: You could have just let me pass out on the couch, but you didn't. Why?
Abigail: Why what?
Austin: Why, why, why-- why didn't you leave me?
Abigail: You needed me.
Austin: I do need you.
Melanie: Okay, found it. Bringing out the big guns now.
Melanie: Yeah. Oh, hey, use--um...here. Um, I'm really glad that we worked everything out.
Abigail: Me too.
Melanie: I feel like friends again. Especially now. I'm really glad we worked everything out.
Melanie: Because you shouldn't be alone right now. You're not gonna be alone.
Melanie: I'm gonna make sure of that, okay? Come here. God, I'm so sorry.
Carrie: I think it's too soon.
Austin: I don't want to force it either, but damn it, Carrie, I just want you back.
Carrie: I know. I want that too so much. I--I think we have a lot to put behind us. And, I mean, we're here now because of what we've both done, and I think we need to realize what we almost lost before we can move forward. Does that make sense?
Abigail: Austin, you did not take advantage of me, trust me.
Abigail: No, listen. Last night was really special to me. You have nothing to feel sorry about--nothing at all.
Austin: Yeah. Yeah, it makes sense.
Melanie: You want any more ice cream?
Bo: So fill me in. You and Carrie are getting this business off the ground. Little bumpy at the beginning, but...come on. You guys got potential, you work well together. What the hell happened?
Rafe: It's complicated.
Bo: Those are the exact words that Carrie used. She seemed rather tore up about whatever the hell happened.
Rafe: [Scoffs] Yeah, that's between Carrie and me.
Bo: What, you don't think I deserve to know what the hell happened? I mean, it was my idea to give you the job here at the department, help you guys out. And, really, I was counting on your help.
Rafe: All right.
Bo: So what the hell happened?
Rafe: Okay, it's just not a good idea for Carrie and I to be together right now. Okay?
Bo: What the heck are you talking about?
Rafe: All right, we kissed, okay, Bo? We made out, and it was a huge mistake. We feel terrible about it. And Sami and Austin walked in on us, and now it's a huge mess. All right?
Roman: What the hell?
Brady: All right, look, I don't know who you are, I don't know what you're doing here... but I'm tired of you doing all the talking. This is between me and her, so please, butt out. You're the only one that can fix this, okay? 'Cause I really don't want to believe what's going on right now. Because we know each other, right? I know you, you know me. Hell, I proposed to you today. Remember that?
Ian: Well, congratulations. But that is unfortunate.
Brady: Madison... I need to know right now. Is this man your husband?
Madison: Brady... I need to explain.
Roman: Please tell me I didn't just hear you say you kissed your wife's sister.
Rafe: I'm sorry. I don't like this, but it's--
Roman: You don't like this, right? You don't like this? Why in the hell am I not re-arranging your face right now? And what did Sami do to deserve this? Come on, she and Carrie have had troubles for a long time. A lot of bad blood between 'em. They were now working it out. And now this?
Rafe: I know. I know! Okay, I messed up, and I'm sorry.
Roman: Did you think?
Rafe: All right, listen, I'm gonna do everything that I can to make this right. I'm gonna fix this.
Roman: Well, you damn well better.
Carrie: Should we go out and eat something?
Austin: Uh-uh. I just want to be here with you. Holding you. [Sighs] Just the two of us. Nobody else.
Melanie: Hey. Can I do anything for you, or can I get you anything?
Abigail: Austin. All I want is Austin. He doesn't want me.
Brady: It's true? It's true?
Madison: Brady, I need you to let me explain.
Brady: No, get away. Don't, don't. Stay--stay away from me.
Madison: No, you've gotta hear me out. Please?
Brady: You stay away from me.
Madison: Brady. Brady, come on!
Ian: You are not going anywhere.
