Nicole: How many times have you hit that snooze button?
EJ: Not enough.
Nicole: What time is it?
Nicole: Why don't I believe you?
Nicole: [Gasps] Oh, my goodness, it's late. Look, I have to get up. I have work to do before the debate.
EJ: Nicole, I got to bed at 3:00 this morning after that conference call with China. You were still working.
Nicole: We can sleep after the election. Don't you have meetings today? You have meetings.
Nicole: Yes, you do.
EJ: Oh, yeah, I've got to meet William Horton. He can wait.
Nicole: Hey, hey, hey. Whoa, wai--ho. About... our young Will Horton.
Nicole: So, uh... are you ready to tell me the real story why you hired him?
Will: "Meet me at Town Square for the next assignment."
Marlena: Hey, handsome.
Marlena: Nice to see you here.
Will: Hi, Grandma, how you doing?
Marlena: What did you call me?
Will: I mean Doc.
Marlena: Oh, thanks, that's much better. Well, you waiting for somebody? You got time for coffee?
Will: Uh... yeah, maybe--I got a few minutes.
Marlena: I'm not interrupting, am I?
Will: Uh, no, no, no, no. Um, yeah, let's do it. I've got time. Let's go.
Rafe: Hey, hey.
Carrie: Hey, hey.
Rafe: Came prepared for the sweltering heat today.
Carrie: Me, too. Ah, but I did one better. I got a blender so that we could make ice drinks later.
Rafe: You are on fire.
Rafe: You notice something, though?
Carrie: Hey... it's not broiling in here. It's not--it's not even warm.
Rafe: The landlord finally fixed the furnace. Wow.
Carrie: Oh, well, I guess we won't be needing these after all. Bummer.
Rafe: Where are you going with that? No, no, no. I'm a master margarita maker, for the record.
Carrie: Oh, my goodness. What is this, a work place or a happy hour hangout?
Rafe: Well, I guess that depends on how many jobs we don't get today, huh?
Sami: [Clears throat] Sorry, am I interrupting?
Lexie: This makes me sick. After all the hard work you put into that jobs program, Abe. You know, I mean, how the hell did EJ get his hands on your plans? And then the gall to claim that he came up with it himself?
Abe: Well, after all the chances you've given him... EJ never changes.
Lexie: Yeah, but, when we were at the mansion on Christmas day, he promised things would be different. You know what? That's it. That is it. I have been fooled into forgiving EJ so many times, but never again. Never again. This is absolutely the end of the road for my brother and me.
Abe: Well, I hate to say it, but I'm glad. When I find out how he managed to steal that confidential file from my computer... justice will be served.
Hope: Hey, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry we're late.
Lexie: Oh, no, no, it's okay.
Bo: Hey, Mayor. We were talking to Roman about, uh, the PD’s new initiative to arrest and prosecute Salem's most wanted criminals.
Abe: Which is why I wanted to talk to you. You know... my office is 100% behind this program. A mayor's top priority is always the safety of his citizens.
Lexie: Yeah and there's another reason to round up those criminals as soon as possible. Abe needs a win before my brother hijacks this election away from him.
EJ: I can find much more enjoyable ways to start the day than talking about Will Horton.
Nicole: Okay, then tell me why you hired him, and we will move on to those more enjoyable ways.
Nicole: No, uh-uh. Excuse me, sir, but I have not gotten an answer.
Nicole: It--hey, I know what you're doing. And it is not going to wo-- [Laughs]
Nicole: Hey, why don't you want to tell me?
EJ: You still talking?
Marlena: Ooh... you didn't answer me. Are you--are you meeting somebody here?
Will: Uh, I just got--I got a full day.
Marlena: You've had a full few days.
Marlena: I'm still waiting for your response.
Marlena: Our word game. Hello in there.
Marlena: You've got a 62-point word sitting on your queue. Will you please put me out of my misery?
Will: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I-I got, you know, I've got a lot going on.
Marlena: You still thinking about leaving Salem?
Will: Uh...no. I'm--I'm going to stay.
Marlena: I'm so glad to hear that. So now you can find some time to talk to your mom.
Will: I'm not... you know, I'm not sure how to bring up the subject. "Hey, Mom. Just happened to walk in on you and EJ sleeping together." Actually, you know what, that's not accurate. There wasn't a whole lot of sleeping going on.
Rafe: Of course you're not interrupting. Would you get in here?
Sami: Well, I'm glad to see you two having so much fun. I didn't realize law and order work could be so amusing.
Carrie: Oh, it's because of the crazy day we had yesterday. We had to laugh or we'd cry.
Rafe: Yeah, if we hadn't sweat out all our potential tears. [Chuckles]
Sami: I'm not following.
Rafe: Oh, sorry. Yesterday the--the thermostat was broken in here so it was like, 90 degrees all day.
Sami: Why didn't you work from home?
Carrie: We were waiting for a client.
Rafe: Yeah. So today, we're prepared to relieve our suffering.
Carrie: [Giggles] Yeah, check out our dueling fans.
Sami: Not to mention the blender for margaritas.
Rafe: Right. Oh, it turns out that the landlord fixed the thermostat, so, joke's on us. [Laughs]
Rafe: Yeah. You got to admit, it's a little funny.
Sami: Oh, I guess you had to be there.
Abe: So somehow, EJ was able to gain access to my laptop and locate and copy the file outlining my job plan.
Bo: Had your laptop been stolen?
Abe: Never let it out of my sight.
Hope: Any evidence of hacking?
Abe: No, my people couldn't find anything.
Lexie: It shakes me to my core to think this, but, um, EJ's tactics might work.
EJ: Okay, trouble, now for your second pleasure of the day.
EJ: I'm going to have Mary make you something wonderful to eat. What would you like? Hmm?
Nicole: I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I think we've spent enough time in bed. I need to get a jump on the day. Where did you say you were meeting Will today?
Nicole: No? You don't--no clue?
EJ: [Laughs] Stop, okay. [Laughs] Okay, Horton Town Square.
Nicole: Yeah? And why?
Nicole: Why, you ask? Because I thought maybe I can join you.
Nicole: Unless you give me one good reason why I shouldn't.
Rafe: What brings you by this morning?
Sami: You, of course. I actually, uh, brought you your favorite muffins.
Rafe: Oh, my. Wow.
Sami: You know, just--
Rafe: Thank you. I'm so glad you did because you left so early I didn't even get a chance to see you this morning.
Sami: I know, I know. We've both been so crazy busy with our schedules.
Carrie: I'm going to get to work on this case. Give you two some privacy.
Rafe: Okay. So, what's up?
Sami: Well, um, you know, I know you've been concerned about me taking the job... with Kate and wondering if it's a mistake, and I just wanted you to know it's going really well.
Sami: In fact, I scheduled a photo shoot and, uh, did some test shots using local talent to see if it would work and guess who turned out to be a superstar.
Rafe: Um... who?
Sami: Your sister.
Sami: Yeah. She was a natural.
Sami: Yeah. I mean, she killed it. She was beautiful. And they're blowing up the shots now, and I can't wait to look at them but, actually, the best part about it was how Kate was really listening to my advice.
Rafe: Well, I'm glad to hear that. I mean, no question, her ideas are great. It's just that Kate would be more appreciative than Madison.
Sami: I know, it's surprising, right?
Sami: Well, between my new job and your new job, the only downside is we don't have time to spend together. I kind of want to set up a date night with you so I can actually see you.
Rafe: Well, I'm down with that.
Sami: Oh, my God. What is that?
Rafe: [Laughs] Oh, God.
EJ: No, I think it would be amazing if you came along. I have to talk to William about something quickly. Then you and I can get a late breakfast.
Nicole: [Sighs] You know, it's just weird. You know, one day you decide to hire Will Horton and then the next, out of the blue, you're announcing Abe's top secret jobs plan as your own. You're not really asking me to believe that it was just a coincidence, are you?
Marlena: Will, I understand your anger. And it's justifiable. But the only person it's hurting is you.
Will: You know, you're not the first person to give me that advice.
Marlena: Because it's good advice. You have to get past this anger, sweetheart. The only way to do it is to confront your mother. Let her--let her explain. Let her apologize to you.
Will: Nothing she could say could make me forgive her.
Marlena: She's your mother. And she's my daughter.
Marlena: A daughter who has blamed you for everything that's gone wrong in her life. She has never given you a chance, so why should I give her one?
EJ: William Horton is a very smart kid, and he needed a job. That's it.
Nicole: That's fine. I don't have a problem with you helping Will.
EJ: Good. You know, he is Johnny and Sydney's brother?
Nicole: Yeah, okay, but there's more to it than just that. And I deserve to know wha-- EJ, this is more than just personal. It's job stuff, too. I mean, have you forgotten that a crazed Jennifer Horton attacked me yesterday over this? I had no idea what she was talking about. I felt like an idiot.
EJ: You're not an idiot, Nicole. You'll never be an idiot. Look, if it comes down to violence between you and Jennifer, my money's on you.
Carrie: Guess we'll be needing those fans after all.
Rafe: Yep. But look on the bright side. We got our very own sauna.
Carrie: [Laughs] We should charge admission and give the spa some competition.
Rafe: Yeah, which would actually be bringing in more money than the real jobs we have now.
Carrie: Well, thank God we're married to people who are gainfully employed, right?
Rafe: Hello. [Chuckling]
Abe: Sweetheart, I'm as frustrated by EJ's tricks as you are.
Abe: But I don't have much time to convince the voters to reelect me, so we have to kick this campaign into overdrive.
Lexie: Wha--I thought we were already there, I--
Abe: Well... [Laughs] I've got a few tricks up my sleeve. EJ may have, uh, co-opted my jobs plan, but there's no way he can lower the crime rate in Salem.
Hope: Yeah, uh, especially considering his specialty is raising it.
Abe: Hmm, yeah. Look, you both know as long as I've been mayor I've been wanting to launch this anti-crime program, but my hands have been tied by budget constraints. We've had to cut back on man-hours and personnel on the force. And we need to have bodies on the street to wage this fight.
Bo: So what's changed? We're still under a budget crunch.
Abe: What's changed is I've been able to move money from one line item on the budget toward crime reduction.
Bo: Well, that's great.
Abe: So I'm authorizing you and hope to hire whoever you need to clean up Salem. Do it now. And do it fast.
Nicole: The point isn't whether or not Jennifer can get the best of me in a catfight. This is about you not sharing critical information with me. I didn't even know that you went on TV about this jobs plan.
EJ: Nicole, you were at the spa, taking a very well-deserved day off.
Nicole: At your insistence. Yeah. Now I know why you booked a spa day for me with Quinn. You wanted me out of the way while everything went down. God, you know, I should be so furious with you.
EJ: But you're not furious with me, are you? Instead, you had a lot of fun kicking ass. [Laughs] You know your problem, Nicole? Hey. You think too much, all right? Now listen, I told you there would be times during this campaign where it would be in your best interest not to know what's going on. This is one of those times.
EJ: I'm going to take a shower.
Nicole: Hi, uh, I need some personal files on EJ. Yes, of course he authorized it. We were just talking about it.
Will: Grandma, why should I give my mom a chance? She's never given anyone else a chance, especially you.
Marlena: That's not so, sweetie.
Will: How can you say that? Ever since you came back, she's been treating you like crap. And she's tried to turn everyone against you. Grandma, I don't even know how--
Marlena: How I can love her so? I do. I love her with my whole heart. I love her humor. I love her intelligence. I love her spirit. And mostly, I love her because she is my daughter. And she feels exactly the same way about you.
Sami: You guys are lucky. Uh, when I was working at Mad World, um, we, uh-- we didn't even have an office. I mean, we were working out of the Titan conference room, and it was brutal. I mean, everyone knew everyone's business. If I got a call about Johnny forgetting his lunch, everybody knew in the company and-- [Sighs] and if they needed the space we would have to have meetings at the Brady Pub over clam chowder. I should get back to work.
Rafe: Well, thank you for stopping by. You know... seeing you is always the highlight of my day, honey.
Sami: [Laughs] I have plans, Rafe, for the highlight of your night.
Rafe: Well, I like the sound of that.
Sami: Good luck with the heat.
Carrie: Bye. [Shrieks] Oh, my good--oh! [Shrieks]
Rafe: What are you doing? [Laughs]
Carrie: Turn it off. Turn it off. Oh, my God.
Rafe: Don't do that.
Carrie: Well, oh, oh--
Abe: Thank you both for getting this program up and running on such short notice.
Bo: Not a problem. I know exactly who to call to get the ball rolling.
Abe: Well, I think the criminals of Salem are going to be quaking in their boots when they find out the two of you are in charge of this task force.
Hope: Let's hope.
Lexie: Hopefully, my brother among them.
Hope: Lex, I'm so sorry. I know this must be hard. Hoping and praying EJ and Stefano will change some day.
Lexie: Why do I even care? You know, really?
Hope: Because, you know, I'm going to tell you why. Because you're a good person and because they're your family.
Lexie: Sometimes I wish I was more like my brother and my father. You know, maybe then, I could predict their dirty tricks, and I could somehow stop them instead of just being blindsided by them over and over again. You know?
Abe: [Laughs] I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that EJ's latest dirty trick is his last. All right, I'll check in with you two later, huh?
Bo: Okay, sounds good.
Hope: Don't worry.
Bo: We'll do our best.
Abe: All right.
Bo: Take care.
Hope: Take care.
Hope: Drive safely.
Marlena: Well, I'm as much to blame for not healing this relationship as your mother was. We just let our anger and hurt fester too long. That's why you have to talk to her now.
Will: I don't think I can do that.
Marlena: Oh, I think you can. It might be uncomfortable, but it's important. It'll make things so much easier later on. Promise.
EJ: William. Will, I thought we, uh, I thought we were meeting at the, uh, entrance. That doesn't matter. You ready to get to work?
Marlena: What's going on here?
Will: Sorry, I, um, I was waiting at the entrance, but then I-I ran into my grandmother.
EJ: It's not a problem. You know how I feel about family.
EJ: Marlena, it's lovely to see you on such a glorious day.
Marlena: I'm hoping there's a misunderstanding here.
EJ: William works for me. I mean, he--he's my new campaign intern. I can tell you he's a very valuable member of the team.
Rafe: So what's going on? You sounded so official over the phone.
Bo: Well, this is an official meeting.
Bo: Hope and I are heading up a new task force to arrest and prosecute local criminals who've evaded the law for far too long.
Hope: And Abe's made it his top priority and given us full authorization to hire whomever we need to get the job done.
Carrie: What's all this have to do with Rafe and me?
Bo: We'd like to hire the two of you. Rafe, because, you know, we need someone to go grab sandwiches and make coffee.
Bo: And Carrie--
Rafe: Thank you.
Bo: You're welcome. We need your legal expertise on this project.
Hope: Oh, unless, of course, you're just completely overloaded with all your own cases.
Marlena: If you'd like to work on a campaign, I can talk to Abe for you.
Will: Um, he didn't have any openings.
EJ: I was very happy to help him out.
Marlena: I was speaking to Will, if you don't mind.
EJ: I was merely explaining.
Marlena: You can merely be quiet.
EJ: Sweetheart. Why don't you take a seat?
Nicole: Oh. Okay.
Marlena: I'm sorry. We're having a private conversation. You weren't invited to join us.
EJ: [Clears throat] Can I have a look at the menu? I'm famished. What's good here, do you know?
Marlena: Will, you and me. Alone.
EJ: You go ahead. Don't worry. It's going to take me a while to pick out something to eat. We can talk when you're finished.
Marlena: I guess he got his manners from his father.
Will: Um, I'll be right back.
Nicole: Grandma's not happy.
EJ: Well, that's her problem. Now, what's good for breakfast?
Bo: What's up with the silly grins?
Rafe: Well, it just so happens we recently settled A... hairy case and as a result we--we do actually have some room to open up our workload.
Hope: So does this mean you'll take on the assignment?
Hope: Oh, cool.
Carrie: Oh, wait a second. I just want to make sure you understand I'm a defense attorney, and I'm one of those people that sometimes gets the bad guys cleared.
Bo: Which makes your perspective, your experience perfect for this because those are the guys who've been evading prosecution. You know, guys like Alfredo Moroni. Experts at manipulating the legal system.
Hope: And Carrie, you can help us anticipate their strategies so we can outmaneuver them. It's perfect.
Bo: Who better to show us the ropes than someone who's spent her career on the wrong side-- at the other side of the defense table?
Carrie: All right. I'm--I'm in.
Hope: Welcome aboard.
Rafe: You made the right decision.
Bo: Yes, you did.
Hope: A toast.
Hope: We'll do a little...
Bo: That's enough toasting. Now let's get to work.
Will: Working for EJ's just a job. Seriously. And it's--and it's actually, you know, it's--it's cool. It has--has perks.
Marlena: What kind of perks, Will?
Will: Um...concert tickets and um--
Marlena: Mmm. My darling, you are working for a DiMera.
Will: I know. And I've done it before. I worked for Stefano a-a-a while back and nothing bad happened.
Marlena: Why don't I call Abe and see if he can get you a job on his campaign?
Will: You don't have to do that. Seriously. Seriously, I'm fine. And um, I don't--I don't want to be rude, but, I got to work so, uh, I can't talk right now. But... we'll talk later, okay?
EJ: William, do you remember that printer on the outskirts of town?
Will: The one you sent me to the other day?
EJ: That's the one. Would you do me a favor? Could you run over there? They have some campaign posters ready for me. Just, um, take them along to the campaign headquarters.
Will: Okay, on my way.
EJ: Oh, William? Thank you.
EJ: He's a good lad.
Lexie: Hi. [Exasperated laugh]
Abe: Young people. Always in a hurry.
Abe: Ah...well. You do have a pair of brass ones, EJ.
Lexie: [Clears throat]
Abe: Committing atrocities one day and casually enjoying a meal in the square the next.
EJ: I'm just having breakfast and, uh, hobnobbing with the locals. Something I plan on doing quite a lot of when I'm elected mayor. And I have no idea what, um, atrocities you're talking about.
Abe: Well, how about hacking? Theft. Plagiarism.
Lexie: Well, compared to blackmail, assault, and murder, that probably seems like nothing to you. Right, EJ?
Abe: But it's not nothing. I know you stole my jobs plan agenda.
EJ: Instead of spinning these, uh, wild conspiracy theories, why don't you spend some time preparing for the debates, hmm? Or preparing a jobs plan? After all your ineffective years in office, it's probably the least you can do.
Abe: You're not going to get away with this EJ. Not only will you lose the election... but you're going to be living proof, uh, like that old saying. "Crime doesn't pay." Not while I'm in charge.
Bo: See any familiar faces from your days on the force?
Rafe: Oh, yeah, I do. I'd like to see a lot of them in jail.
Hope: I'm so relieved you weren't too busy to give us a hand. Hey, how's business?
Rafe: Oh, it's good. [Clears throat] I mean, we don't have a lot of high-profile cases yet.
Carrie: In fact, our biggest challenges so far have been a broken thermostat and a missing cat.
Bo: Oh, we--we remember those days.
Hope: Oh, yeah. Actually, you know what? We can, uh, we can, uh, top that. Once we had a missing goldfish.
Bo: Uh, yeah. And a cat was involved in that case. Let's just say it did not end well.
Hope: No, it didn't. Start-ups take time.
Bo: You know what? We'll help you get--get the word out.
Carrie: Oh, that would be great. We'd appreciate that.
Hope: So, um, Rafe, Sami's okay with the two of you going into business, huh?
Rafe: Yeah, she's been better than okay. She's been...great.
Hope: Great. I'm so happy to hear that.
Rafe: So are we.
Carrie: Well, I--I have to admit, it's been pretty nerve-racking. I mean, from when Sami and I were getting along, by which I mean not wanting to strangle each other, but that was when I was living on the other side of the world and now that I'm back in Salem, working with her husband...
Hope: Things are a little tense.
Bo: I'm going to get some coffee.
Rafe: Well, you know, Carrie I have to say that--
Hope: I'm going to grab some too. Excuse me. Do you want anything?
Rafe: You know, while you were in Switzerland, all I heard about was Sami's smart, successful big sister.
Carrie: Uh-huh. And I'm sure you heard a lot of not so good things too.
Carrie: I don't believe you.
Rafe: Well, I wouldn't lie to you.
Carrie: Okay, I believe you then, but I'm sure it's different now that I'm back in town, right?
Rafe: No. Sami's in a happier place now, and... I think she wants those things to stay in the past.
Carrie: Good. Because nobody wants that more than me.
Lexie: Every time I think you can't sink any lower, you find yet a deeper cesspool to swim in.
EJ: Alexandra, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Lexie: Don't, EJ! Don't. I'm putting you both on notice. I'm calling the debate moderator. I'm letting her know that there's a very good chance that your campaign would most likely try and steal the debate questions in advance.
Nicole: I feel sorry for you, Lexie. Yeah, you must feel really insecure about Abe's reelection chances to go to such lengths.
EJ: She's obviously seen the latest polls.
Lexie: You got that bump as a result of Abe's plan, not yours.
Nicole: EJ knows what the people want, and the people want EJ.
Abe: [Laughs] Well, they won't once they know the truth. Smoke and mirrors can't last forever.
EJ: Well, they don't need to last forever, Abe. Just needs to last until the election.
Lexie: [Exasperated sigh]
Marlena: Oh, Sami. May I talk to you?
Sami: Hey, Mom. Uh, actually, I'm really busy right now. I'm working so I got to--
Marlena: You're working for Kate.
Sami: Yes. I am. You got a problem with that? I mean, you've been after me to get a job since I was 16 years old, and now I have one. A career. But that's not enough for you, is it? I'm still doing something wrong.
Marlena: Those are your words, not mine. Is it going well with Kate?
Marlena: Good. I'm glad to hear that. Actually, what I'd like to talk about is Will.
Sami: What about Will?
Marlena: I am concerned about him. His employment choices are as mysterious to me as yours. You know that he's working for EJ?
Sami: I just found out.
Marlena: You don't seem very concerned. Sami... have your feelings for EJ changed?
Sami: Of course not. I despise EJ. And I did try to talk will out of taking the job, but I don't know if you've noticed or not, but he's not really listening to me right now.
Marlena: So, you're going to leave it at that?
Sami: [Angry sigh]
Marlena: I just--I wish you would make one more try at it.
Sami: Where is this coming from?
Marlena: Will is deeply troubled right now. I'm sure you've noticed. He needs his mother more than anything.
Sami: That's priceless coming from you.
Marlena: What does that mean?
Sami: Where were you when I needed you? Some mornings, getting the family together for breakfast
Lexie: You know, EJ... on a few rare occasions I actually thought I glimpsed a real human being inside of you, but I-I guess it was just my imagination. [Sighs] You don't have a soul. You are literally, an expensive, empty suit.
EJ: I'm sorry, Alexandra. I have no idea why you're out of sorts on this one, okay? It's politics, all right? Abraham and I both know you can't take this too personally. The other day, Abraham and I were standing right there. We were having a chuckle, you know? [Laughs] Lexie.
Rafe: The key was actually embedded in the memorial plaque in the square?
Bo: Mm-hmm. Mrs. H had left instructions for it to be placed there.
Carrie: What's the key for?
Hope: A safe deposit box at a local bank.
Carrie: Ooh. What's in the box?
Bo: That we don't know just yet.
Hope: Apparently, Gran shared the box with someone else, and it requires two keys to open it.
Rafe: Where's the other key?
Bo: The bank won't let us know that.
Carrie: Oh, that's standard bank policy.
Rafe: You have any idea who it is?
Bo: Unfortunately, we do.
Hope: We think that Gran, um... went to so much trouble to keep it from us because it might be the same person she had other secret dealings with. Stefano.
Abe: That's the last chuckle we'll have together. Let's go, Lexie.
Nicole: Are you all right?
EJ: I'm fine. Great. No texts from Will. How long does it take to pick up some bloody posters?
Nicole: Well, the, uh, look on Marlena's face when she found out will was working for you is priceless.
Nicole: I wish I could see the look on Sami's face-- I'm assuming she knows.
EJ: Nicole, I know what you're doing, all right? I'm not answering any questions about William, so just drop it. Okay?
Marlena: Sami. Let's not make this about us, all right? Let's make it about Will. About his need for his mother.
Sami: Well, that's an easy way to avoid answering the question, but you don't have an answer, do you?
Marlena: Not one that would satisfy you after all these years.
Sami: Right. People call me selfish, and I know exactly where I got it from. John always comes first for you. He always has. His happiness--your happiness were always more important to you than your own daughter.
Marlena: That's not so. I've tried to make it right with you. You won't let me. Sometimes I think that you resist healing our relationship because you really enjoy turning the knife too much.
Sami: You are such a hypocrite. You want everyone to see you as this wonderful mother, but you don't actually want to do the work, do you? I mean, all those times you weren't there for me. And you have never answered for it. How about when I married Rafe? When my daughter grace died? John was sick so that was more important.
Marlena: Oh, Sami, please.
Sami: And then you were even in Salem, and Johnny is missing. He could be dead, and where are you? Not with us. Couldn't be there for us because of John.
Sami: Nothing to say about that, huh?
Marlena: I think there's been enough conversation already.
Sami: I couldn't agree with you more. Let's not talk about it ever again, shall we? And one more thing. Don't you dare tell me how to be a good mother. Why don't you spend some time wondering why you weren't one? Tony, pick it up. You know I'm just not feeling the wood cutting thing today.
Bo: We're going to head down to the station and get to work.
Hope: Thank you so much again for joining the team. Exciting.
Rafe: Yes. Well, this task force is definitely going to make a difference.
Carrie: I guess it's time I see firsthand how the other side of the justice system works.
Rafe: Good times ahead.
Bo: Yeah, good times.
Hope: Good times.
Bo: We'll see you.
Hope: See you later, take care.
Hope: Bye, stay warm.
Rafe: Yeah. Wow. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm hungry. Buy you lunch, now that we have some money coming in.
Rafe: All right. You don't sound so happy. You still conflicted about doing this?
Carrie: I can't afford to be. We need the work, and I know how much you want to do it. [Sighs] And, I just feel like my heart's in defense work and... I don't know. It seems like a conflict of interest.
Rafe: Okay, so we won't do it. Problem solved.
Carrie: No. I know you really want to do it, and it's--it's important work.
Rafe: No, we're a team. If you're not in, I'm not in. That's it. End of story.
Carrie: Well, if you put it that way... I can't abandon you, now can I?
Rafe: No. So you'll sell out your principles?
Carrie: [Laughs] I choose to think of it as gaining another perspective. It'll be good to grow and stretch, right?
Rafe: Yeah, of cour--yes, it will, it will. We're a team. Nothing's going to stop us. Sami. What are you doing here? Huh? Twice in one day. How'd I get so lucky?
Nicole: I will stop pestering you about Will Horton for the moment... if you're straight with me about Lexie.
EJ: Okay. What would you like to know about Lexie?
Nicole: I know you love your sister. So that tongue lashing had a sting. But I think Lexie's outrage really stems from the realization that her husband could lose this election.
EJ: Her husband will lose this election.
Nicole: So you don't care about what she says, then? Because I feel like she meant it. She may never speak to you again.
EJ: I'm not going to lose any sleep about that, okay? She'll come around. She always does.
Abe: Hey, Lexie, Lexie. I-I wish you wouldn't let EJ upset you so much.
Lexie: [Sighs] Abe, honey, I love you. And I believe in you with all my heart. But, being a DiMera, look, I know what my brother is capable of doing to win, okay? And it scares me.
Abe: Sweetheart, sweetheart. I don't want you to be scared. Look. EJ won't win. He can't win. The citizens of Salem deserve better. And I'm going to make sure we get it.
Marlena: Hey, handsome. Got a minute?
Will: Um...I guess so. I'm done with work, but no lectures please.
Marlena: I promise. You are an adult. You may do what you like and work where you please.
Will: Thank you for saying that, Grandma.
Will: Doctor Evans.
Marlena: Thank you for saying that, yes. The thing is that... I couldn't live with myself if I didn't share with you some hard-learned knowledge.
Will: What is it?
Marlena: There is something I know... in a way that nobody else that walks the earth could know. That nothing good ever comes from associating with a DiMera.
Nicole: There's something I need you to do for me.
Marlena: Stay the hell away from Will.
Nicole: We're not friends here, we're family. And no distance can change that. Wow. Look at that timing. Hi. Uh, thanks for meeting me.
Will: Oh, yeah. Um, you said you needed my help?
Nicole: Yes, yeah. But, I mean, first, as EJ's campaign publicist, I want to officially welcome you to the team.
Will: I appreciate that.
Will: I'm--I'm excited to get started.
Nicole: Get started?
Nicole: Are you kidding? I've heard you've been a tremendous help to the team.
Will: I just do what I'm told.
Nicole: [Laughs] Yeah. Well, as you know, we are a wonderful campaign group. Each and every one of us is fully dedicated to winning this election. We will do whatever it takes. I trust you feel the same.
Will: I want what's best for Salem.
Nicole: Yeah, don't we all? So, uh, let's get down to it, shall we? First, I'd like to start with a few very important things.
