Hope: I'm sorry, Mr. Simpson. I am the executor of my grandmother's estate. How can I not possibly have access to the safe deposit box that was kept here in your bank?

Simpson: As I've tried to explain, the box didn't belong solely to your grandmother.

Bo: Yes, we understand that there is a co-signee. But Hope is here on behalf of Mrs. Horton.

Simpson: Look, when your grandmother was alive, an agreement was made, that both parties had to be present in order for this box to be opened.

Hope: But Mr. Simpson, surely you can make an exception in this case. Can't you? I'm simply trying to carry out my grandmother's wishes.

Simpson: That's what I'm trying to explain to you.

Hope: What?

Simpson: These are your grandmother's wishes.

Hope: What do you mean?

Simpson: Look, I'm not enforcing the bank's rules here. I'm enforcing hers. In fact, both parties insisted on having this measure met.

Bo: Okay, fine. Get on the phone, call this other person. Have them come down here. Now.

Jennifer: No, Abe, don't worry, I will handle this personally. Believe me, the fact that EJ stole your new jobs program is appalling. And then went on television and made it sound like it was his own idea? No, I will take care of it, I promise you. I'll get back to you.

Nicole: Hey, you were right about investing with Quinn, but we need to talk--ow, hey!

Jennifer: We need to talk.

Nicole: Okay. Give it back.

Jennifer: First, you're going to tell me how you pulled it off, you little thief.

Sami: What's going on here?

EJ: Samantha, this is a wonderfully unexpected surprise.

Sami: Oh, save it. Gimme. What are these?

Will: Uh, keys.

Sami: I know they're keys, will. I'm asking...what these are keys to, what are they for?

EJ: Uh, you might have noticed, uh, Samantha, there's a rather new, bright, shiny sports car in the driveway. It's William's. He needs it.

Sami: What does he need a shiny sports car for?

EJ: Uh, for his new job, of course.

Sami: Job? What is he talking about?

EJ: Oh, you didn't mention? He's working for me, darling. Yes.

Sami: Will's doing what?

EJ: He's working for me, my dear. He's the newest member of my campaign team.

Sami: You're kidding. Tell me you're kidding. You're not working for EJ.

EJ: Samantha, I don't know why you find this so troubling. He's perfectly capable of being employed, and unlike you, he's actually very industrious.

Sami: Oh, shut up, EJ.

EJ: Why are you so upset? Samantha, I have an opening in my campaign, and I found somebody perfect to fill it.

Sami: Right, and, and that perfect person to work for you is Will?

EJ: Look, uh, he's young, he's capable, he's smart, and, um, he certainly has incredible tenacity.

Sami: All right, I don't need to talk to you about my son, okay? He needs a reality check if he thinks that I'm going to let him get involved with you or your ridiculous campaign for mayor.

EJ: He's a little old to be given a time-out, Samantha.

Sami: You don't tell me how to parent my kid.

Will: Did you say... you're not going to let me?

Sami: Will, you cannot be serious about this, right? I mean, I'm not the only one who sees how wrong this is.

Will: What's so wrong about it?

Sami: If you need me to tell you that there are consequences to getting involved with the DiMeras, then that's--

Will: You'd be the expert on that, wouldn't you?

Sami: All right, we're not having this conversation here, okay? Let's get out of here. We can talk about this--

Will: No, no, no. No, and don't touch me again.

Nicole: All right. If you don't give me my phone, and I mean, like, right now, you are going to find yourself getting reception in a seriously bad place. I don't know what is going on with you this time, but you do not want to mess with me.

Jennifer: Mm. Do you think I'm scared of you? I mean, do you think I am the least bit intimidated by you?

Nicole: Yes.

Jennifer: [Laughs]

Nicole: Wa-wait, why did you call me a thief?

Jennifer: Oh, don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about, because your fingerprints are all over this. Yours, and EJ's.

Nicole: Don't pretend? What are you talking about? You ripped my phone out of my hand, and started ranting around like a crazy person.

Jennifer: [Sighs] You see, you knew Abe's plan for new jobs in Salem was the centerpiece of his campaign.

Nicole: Since when?

Jennifer: And somehow, you stole his research and his implementation plan.

Nicole: I'm sorry, what?

Jennifer: And, if that wasn't low enough, you managed to get EJ on television, and make it look like this whole thing was his idea.

Nicole: EJ was on TV?

Jennifer: Would you stop acting like you don't know what I'm talking about, because so help me God, you will regret it.

Nicole: Okay, you go ahead and threaten me one more time and you see what happens.

Jennifer: But you know what? You're so smart, because you tweaked a few details so you would have plausible deniability. That was really good, Nicole.

Nicole: Oh, will you stop? We didn't steal anything from Abe, okay? And it is no secret that people need new jobs in this town. And that plan that EJ laid out is 100% his.

Jennifer: That is a lie.

Nicole: Really?

Jennifer: Yes.

Nicole: Abe has been in office for three years, and we're just now seeing a new job plan? If those proposals are similar in any way, maybe we should be investigating you.

Jennifer: Oh, really, for what, Nicole?

Nicole: Maybe you stole from us.

Bo: You're not picking up the phone, Mr. Simpson.

Simpson: Because it's not the bank's place to get in the middle of this.

Hope: Please. We need you to contact the other person for us.

Simpson: I can't do that.

Hope: But how are we supposed to--[Sighs] If you don't, how are we supposed to get them down here so we can open up the box?

Simpson: I don't know what to tell you.

Bo: [Laughs] At least he's not pretending to be sorry about this.

Hope: Brady, wait. What if the other co-signee was my grandfather?

Simpson: It's not. You're not dealing with another estate. The other owner is still very much alive. That's really all I'm at liberty to say.

Hope: Wait. We're police officers.

Simpson: Do you have a warrant?

Hope: No, but my husband--

Simpson: Well, there's no crime here. There's nothing you can do. Now, if you'll excuse me.

Hope: Nothing we can do?

Bo: Hope.

Hope: Nothing we can do? That's it?

Bo: Fancy Face, stop. I'm sorry, I--I thought we'd get some answers today. What are you thinking?

Hope: I'm thinking about what Mr. Simpson just told us. Ever since we started this investigation, everyone we've spoken to has said they're not at liberty to tell us anything. Every single time. That's not just a pattern, it's an M.O.

Bo: Yes, you're right. But it's not Mrs. H's M.O.

Hope: No, it's not. She wants us to find out the truth, I'm sure of it. That's exactly what we're going to do.

Daniel: So, I don't know, what made you want to buy me a beer, hmm?

Jack: Well, whatever you were reading didn't look like a whole lot of fun, I thought maybe you could use it.

Daniel: Oh, I can use it, yeah. Thank you.

Jack: So, what are you reading?

Daniel: A little research, different drugs to treat my condition, just--you know.

Jack: Wh-what's it called? It's, uh, an intention tremor, right?

Daniel: Uh, yup, yup, yup. Um, you know what? Hey, why don't we, uh--why don't we talk about something else? What do you say?

Jack: Look, if you'd rather be alone and work on this by--

Daniel: No, no, no, no, no. You got me a beer, you got me a beer, the least I could do is just drink it with you, right? So.

Jack: Right, so. [Sighs] What do you want to talk about?

Daniel: Not me. [Laughs] Not me. How about we talk about you?

Jack: Mm, me?

Daniel: Yeah, you, why not? Why not?

Jack: Uh, well, really, I'm not really very interesting.

Daniel: Ah, that's a bunch of bull, huh? I'm not the only one dealing with a life-altering medical condition.

Jack: PTSD.

Daniel: Hmm.

Jack: What can I say? It's--it's just a lot of F-U-N.

Daniel: Yeah, yeah. Well is there, you know, any more episodes?

Jack: No, not--not lately. I'm in--I've got a handle on it. You see, I figure, um, you want to fix anything, you've got to be able to recognize that something needs to be fixed, right?

Daniel: Mm. Yeah, yeah, well, that's what-- that's what they, uh-- that's what they say. So, you, uh, you talking to anybody?

Jack: Marlena. She suggests that I get involved with a support group.

Daniel: Yeah, right, there you go. See, now, that's impressive. That's a big step, guy in therapy. That's--that's--uh, that's big.

Jack: Yeah, I've got to get there first.

Daniel: Yeah, well, listen. You know, Jack, you've got a family. And it's important for you to know that what you're living with is manageable. And that you can have a life, the life that you want.

Jack: There's a fix out there for you too, you know? You just-- just got to be able to track it down.

Jennifer: That's your defense? "We had it first"? [Laughs]

Nicole: Is that so hard for you to believe?

Jennifer: Well, it is a little hard to believe, because two seconds ago you told me you had no idea what I was talking about.

Nicole: I don't have to explain myself to you.

Jennifer: Because you can't.

Nicole: Whatever. You know what, you're the one running around here screaming that we stole from Abe's campaign. Now, look, you know, I know you remember this. Watergate was like 40 years ago. Okay, no one's doing that stuff anymore.

Jennifer: That's funny. You--you are really unbelievable.

Nicole: You don't think we're capable of coming up with our own initiatives?

Jennifer: No, I don't. Because you don't want what's best for Salem. Your goal is to make sure that my candidate doesn't have a plan. Because you know we can't pitch the same platform as you.

Nicole: Wow. This really is a problem for you, isn't it?

Jennifer: Oh, please, Nicole. You know what, the only thing that you and EJ have proven is that you're not worthy, really.

Nicole: Jennifer, you know you're taking this very personally. And maybe it's because you feel bad, you know, that you let Abe get caught with his pants down. You made a mistake, a very big mistake, and you have no one to blame but yourself.

Jennifer: Oh, no, I didn't make any mistakes, Nicole.

Nicole: I'm sorry. Your track record proves that you're not very good at making decisive choices.

Jennifer: What are you talking about?

Nicole: Everybody knows you couldn't choose between Jack and Daniel, and you lost them both. Just like you lost this election to EJ.

Sami: You want to stay here?

Will: You cannot tell me who I can and who I can't work for.

Sami: Will, this isn't some job at the mall.

Will: Oh, I know.

Sami: Are you forgetting everything that EJ has done to us? Our whole family?

Will: No, Mom. No, I haven't forgotten one thing.

Sami: Then how can you want to be involved with him?

Will: You know, I could ask you the same thing.

Sami: [Gasps] My relationship with EJ was a mistake, a million mistakes. And I don't need to tell you why, you already know.

Will: Yeah, well, um, you know what, this is not personal. It's a job.

Sami: But it is personal. Will, think about what EJ did to Rafe. Never mind everybody else. Rafe almost lost his life because of EJ. How do you think Rafe is going to feel when he finds out that you wanted to work for EJ?

Will: How do you think Rafe is going to feel?

EJ: You know, I think that, uh, Rafe would be very pleased that William's been able to put the past behind him. You know?

Sami: Stop talking. EJ, just stop it.

EJ: Samantha, I think that he would be able to see that there is something valuable that can be learned from that. Maybe there's a lesson that we can all take away from it.

Sami: The only lessons we're learning from you, EJ, is how to be a criminal. And I want more for my son's future than that.

EJ: Samantha, William is going to be exposed to a full-blown political campaign. This is an incredible opportunity for him to develop and hone skills that will last him a lifetime. Do you have any idea how many people would kill for the kind of opportunity that I'm just giving him?

Sami: It's not an opportunity, it's a trap.

EJ: [Silently] A "trap."

Sami: And--and you don't see that, and that's what scares me the most. Will, you are smarter than this. I know you are.

Will: You know, I've made my decision, and, uh, when I explain why, I'm sure you'll understand.

Hope: I just can't figure out what Gran was thinking when she set this whole thing in motion.

Bo: Oh, man, if we knew that, we could put the pieces of this puzzle together.

Hope: I know one thing, though.

Bo: What?

Hope: If she didn't want anyone to know about the safety deposit box, she would've gotten rid of this. Not left instructions to have it placed inside the plaque in the Horton Square.

Bo: I don't know, um-- maybe she didn't want anybody to find it. When she left those instructions, Horton Square didn't even exist.

Hope: But we did find it. Us. I have to believe it's more than just a coincidence.

Bo: Okay. Mrs. H took out that safe deposit box in her maiden name, so obviously she wanted to keep it hidden from someone.

Hope: But not that mysterious person who already knew about it.

Bo: All right.

Hope: I just can't imagine anyone outside the family that Gran would want to confide in like that.

Bo: Yeah, well, there had to be a reason. Just got to find it.

Hope: What was so important that it--it had to be kept in that secret safe deposit box, and could not be opened unless certain people were present?

Bo: Huh, we have no idea who that certain person is.

Roman: Hey, hey.

Hope: Hey, hey, Roman.

Bo: Hey, man.

Roman: I thought that was you two I saw through the window. I was about to call you, see if you could meet me down at the station.

Bo: Oh, yeah, what's up?

Roman: Well, I, uh, just read your report about the bust you made.

Hope: Oh, the, uh-- the pharmacy robberies.

Bo: Is there a problem with it?

Roman: No, no, as a matter of fact, excellent work.

Hope: You, uh, were going to call us in to say thanks?

Roman: No, I was going to call you in to say it was a very good start. But if we want results that will make a difference long-term, we need to get to the root of this.

Hope: We know that feeling.

Jack: Maybe this is none of my business.

Daniel: Hey, hey, no. My business is everybody's business these days.

Jack: Well, I'm just wondering, um, what are you going to do now? I mean work-wise. You've been a surgeon for so long.

Daniel: Yeah, well, now I'm not. Probably won't be again, really.

Jack: But you've got to have some alternatives.

Daniel: Yeah, you know, I'm just considering a few ideas. Yeah.

Jack: Yeah. You don't really strike me as the, uh, self-pitying type anyway.

Daniel: Hey, you know what? Look, I caught a bad break, right? What am I going to do? Well, you know, so have you.

Jack: Some people would say that's debatable.

Daniel: Well, we're two grown men. We'll, uh--we'll figure it out.

Jack: Yeah, how do we do that?

Daniel: I don't know, man. We just, it out. And find a way to-- and find a way to move on.

Jack: To moving on.

Daniel: Mm. There you go, moving on. Mm-hmm. I don't know, I guess I think maybe I need, um--need a little bit of time off, away. Maybe hit the road, change of scenery could do me good.

Jack: You're thinking of leaving Salem.

Daniel: Well, you know, like I said, I'm just, uh, considering.

Jennifer: Are you implying that I'm letting my personal life interfere with my job, Nicole?

Nicole: No, I'm not implying anything, I'm just stating the facts. Your life is messed up, and you're ruining Abe's campaign. That's not on me or EJ. That's on you.

Jennifer: And what about you, Nicole?

Nicole: What about me, Jennifer?

Jennifer: You're trying to sell a man who crushed you... like he's some kind of hero.

Nicole: EJ is what this town needs right now.

Jennifer: You know, he's not just a crooked politician or even a crook. He's a murderer. I know what he did to your family, I know what he did to his own family.

Nicole: You don't know EJ.

Jennifer: I know enough to know that you would be a complete masochist to take him back.

Nicole: Oh, he loves me, and things are different now, and our relationship has absolutely nothing to do with our campaign, except for the fact that both are in top form.

Jennifer: You know what, Nicole? Men like EJ don't change.

Nicole: Well, at least I have a man to go home to. You managed to chase two off--

Jennifer: I didn't chase anyone away.

Nicole: Oh, really, you didn't chase anyone away? Oh, okay, they just walked off voluntarily? Is that more accurate? I'm not surprised that they left. I mean, I see how you are in your professional life, very bland and boring. I can only imagine what you're like behind closed doors.

Jennifer: Oh, yeah, you see, I get now what EJ sees in you, because you are as amoral and gutless as he is.

Nicole: And you are a bitch.

Jennifer: Oh, what a large vocabulary you have, Nicole.

Nicole: Do you like it? Bitch?

Jennifer: You want to push me again?

Jack: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Daniel: Hey, hold on, enough!

Nicole: Let go of me!

Jack: That is enough.

Jennifer: I'm not afraid of her!

Nicole: I'm tired of you!

Jack: Whoa, whoa, back off!

Will: Look, I've, um-- I've worked for EJ before. I was an intern at DiMera Enterprises.

Sami: Right. We all know how that turned out. And I have the same concerns now as I did then.

Will: Except that I know now what I'm getting myself into.

Sami: No, you don't.

Will: EJ is Johnny and Sydney's father. And I have always said that because of that, he'

Sami: That doesn't change who he is. Or the kinds of things that he does.

Will: Oh, you think he's going to be a bad influence on me? You know, people used to say the same thing about you, and, uh, I turned out--

Sami: Wonderfully. Okay, you turned out wonderfully, and we are not talking about me here.

Will: Yes, we are. You're the one who has a problem with me taking a really good job just because it's with EJ.

Sami: Yes. Yes, I do have a problem with that. Not just because it's with EJ. The biggest problem I have is that you don't think it's a problem.

Will: I guess I just see this as like, uh, an opportunity.

Sami: To what? Drive a fancy sports car?

Will: You think I can be bought?

Sami: No.

Will: You know what? You work for Grandma Kate, okay? And you hate her, and she's a DiMera.

Sami: Yeah, but she's--

Will: So what's the difference? What's the difference?

Sami: She's not EJ. That's the difference.

Will: Oh, yeah. [Laughs] She's not EJ. Um, you know what? You had two kids with EJ, so I think I can just fetch his coffee and find a way to live with myself. Can you?

Daniel: Nicole, take it down at notch, take it down a notch!

Jack: [Screaming]

Nicole: You know what? Someone needs to teach her a lesson!

Jack: Someone's going to teach somebody a lesson. Let's go, let's go. Jennifer, this way, this way.

Daniel: That's enough. That's enough. Are you done? Are you done?

Nicole: Let go of me.

Jack: Fighting with Nicole Walker in public? What do you think you're doing? This is not like you.

Jennifer: She has a way of bringing out the worst in people, let me tell you.

Jack: You are Abe's campaign manager.

Jennifer: I know that.

Jack: Well, is this the image that you want to project?

Jennifer: No, but--but she thinks that I'm afraid to fight her, and I am not. I am not going to back down. I will never--

Jack: Don't back down. Never back down, but let Abe and EJ do the fighting in-- in the election.

Jennifer: It has nothing to do with the election. She made this personal.

Roman: Pretty soon, every detective on the force will be required to carry one of these.

Bo: No way. Wow, this beats a pocket protector.

Roman: Yeah, the tablets will update in real time with the Salem PD servers and our most-wanted database.

Hope: Is this part of the big push you say was coming down the path?

Roman: It is considered phase one. We need to use every tool available to catch these guys, and technology may be our best asset.

Hope: Well, considering this is the most common form of communication these days, I think it's pretty cool.

Roman: So what do you think?

Bo: This is one hell of a comprehensive list. We have Monroney, J.D. Smith, all these guys I'd like to see behind bars. But you know what, I talked to Abe about the department doing something like this.

Roman: Yeah, every perp on that list will have their own page. And that includes photos, aliases, rap sheets.

Bo: Yeah, all these guys have eluded arrest because they know how we work. They're always one step ahead of us.

Hope: Yeah, which is exactly why we can never collect enough evidence to build a solid case against them.

Roman: Well, that is about to change.

Bo: [Laughs] I hope so.

Roman: I know so, little brother... because I am putting you and Hope in charge of the task force that's going to bring down each and every one of these punks.

Bo: What?

Hope: Are you serious?

Roman: You are my two best detectives. Hey, plain and simple. What can I say?

Bo: Nice. Give me a bump. Yeah. Look at this. This is great.

Sami: EJ, I need talk to my son. Can you please just give us a minute?

EJ: Oh, absolutely. Of course.

Sami: Hmm.

EJ: Oh, if you need anything, William, just ask the staff. They'll get it for you. Okay?

Will: You know, I'm not going to say anything different now that EJ's left the room.

Sami: Good.

Will: Okay.

Sami: Will, I-- I want you to know that I hear you. Okay, I understand. I hear you saying that you want to take this job, that you understand what it means, and you know what you want to get out of it.

Will: Good.

Sami: And--and I'm glad to hear you thinking about your future.

Will: Mm-hmm.

Sami: You know, I-I think it's great that you know what you want, that you know who you want to be. And you sound very sure of yourself.

Will: Is that not a good thing?

Sami: No, it is. It is. I just, um-- I just wondered if maybe you are also trying to prove something.

Will: What? To you?

Sami: No. To Gabi.

Will: To Gabi? Why would you bring her up?

Sami: Because I'm trying to understand what's going on here.

Will: Nothing.

Sami: Come on.

Will: Nothing is going on.

Sami: Will, come on. You have been angry ever since you broke up with her.

Will: Oh, my God. Oh, God. It's because it's a breakup. Those aren't supposed to be fun.

Sami: You haven't been acting yourself. Even you would have to admit that. Maybe-- maybe you miss her more than you thought you would.

Will: So you think, what? That--that, uh, I've convinced myself to take this job so I can--so I can try and win her back?

Sami: I don't know. Are you?

Will: Mom. You are so wrong.

Sami: Am I?

Will: [Laughs] Yeah, yeah. Working for EJ, nothing to do with Gabi.

Sami: Okay. Then you better tell me why. Right now.

Will: Because it's something I want to do. And I would appreciate you stop trying to change my mind about this, because it's not going to happen.

Jennifer: Seriously, I can't even believe that I let Nicole get to me like that.

Jack: I can't believe it, either. To tell you the truth, I'm a little bit surprised. It's not like you.

Jennifer: She's just like EJ. She doesn't play fair. She doesn't know how.

Daniel: Talk to me. What?

Nicole: No, just--

Daniel: Okay, all right. What--what now? What am I--are you done? I'm going to have to put you in restraints again?

Nicole: Again? What are you talking about? You know what, maybe you should be more worried about whether or not she's restrained.

Daniel: Oh, that's right. You don't need any restraints. You need a cage.

Nicole: Wow. You know, I didn't start this. Little Miss Muffet did.

Daniel: Oh, really? I find that hard to believe.

Nicole: Hard to believe? Yeah, that's a shocker.

Daniel: Look, if Jennifer came at you like that, I'm sure you gave her some reason to do it. What is it? Huh?

Nicole: Are you for real right now?

Daniel: What do you mean, for real? What?

Nicole: Are you really defending her after the number she pulled on you?

Daniel: Okay, whoa, slow down there, legs, because you don't know anything about my relationship with Jennifer. Nothing.

Nicole: Well, I thought you got smart and actually walked away. I guess my sources were wrong.

Daniel: Well, I guess they were wrong, because I still love Jennifer.

Nicole: Oh, just like you love all your patients?

Daniel: You know, you were my patient. I don't love you.

Nicole: You didn't have to fix me.

Daniel: Okay, you know what? It's about the situation. I walked away from the situation.

Nicole: The situation? Are you serious?

Daniel: Yes, I'm serious.

Nicole: Really, you don't-- you don't see it, do you?

Daniel: See what?

Nicole: Jennifer was playing you, both you and Jack from the very beginning.

Daniel: Wrong. That is so wrong. Why am I talking to you? I don't even know why I'm talking to you.

Nicole: Wait, wait, wait, wait. How am I wrong? You don't think Jennifer enjoyed watching two men fight over her?

Daniel: Oh, my God. What? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I think that's just a little bit of an exaggeration, don't you think there, little politician? Yeah, you know, why is this any of your business anyway? Did I miss something? I don't know.

Nicole: Why don't you take my advice for once?

Daniel: Your advice?

Nicole: Yeah.

Daniel: Really?

Nicole: Yeah, if you'd shut up for a second, maybe you'd hear me, okay? This situation doesn't just happen. It takes planning and scheming.

Daniel: Ah, scheming because that is your business.

Nicole: Yeah.

Daniel: All right. Now, for the record here, Nik, it was my idea.

Nicole: Well, for a brilliant surgeon, you sure are an idiot. [Clears throat] You know what?

Daniel: Hmm?

Nicole: I was actually going to give you some credit for finally seeing the light.

Roman: You are a great detective. You do know that, right?

Hope: I don't feel like much of one at the moment.

Roman: Where is that coming from?

Hope: This.

Roman: A key?

Hope: Yeah. Belongs to a safe deposit box my grandmother had.

Roman: What's in it?

Hope: [Laughs] Good question. I wish I knew. The bank won't allow access.

Roman: Why not?

Bo: Because the box didn't belong to just Mrs. H, and according to the contract they have with the bank, both people have to be present before they can open the damn thing.

Roman: Well, who is the other person?

Bo: [Sighs] Your guess is as good as ours.

Hope: That's what's so frustrating. Every time we get close to figuring out what Gran was doing, we somehow end up with even more questions. [Scoffs] And nobody we speak to is willing or apparently able to tell us what we want to know.

Bo: Yeah, it's been like pulling teeth ever since we found those bank statements.

Roman: Yeah, I remember. You told me about those.

Hope: We still don't even know why Gran had that account to begin with.

Roman: But on the plus side, you were able to figure out Alice knew that Daniel Jonas was Maggie's son. That was a pretty big deal.

Hope: Yeah, it was. And we were really happy to do that for them. For both of them, but right now, it is really very hard to feel that we have not hit a dead end.

Roman: Come on. You're not thinking about giving up, are you? I mean, if there's anything you inherited from your grandmother, it's the willingness to get in there, dig down, and see it to the end.

Bo: You know, I think we might find Mrs. H's recipes in there. The doughnut recipe.

Hope: Very funny. Okay, you got a smile out of me.

Roman: Well, I'll tell you what. If you guys really want to find out whose name is on that safe deposit box, my money is on you to find that.

Jack: [Sighs]

Jennifer: You know, it's-- it's not enough that EJ and Nicole stole Abe's new jobs program, and then proceed to take credit for it, it's the fact that Nicole won't own up to it.

Jack: You thought she would?

Jennifer: Jack, how can she deny it when she so obviously did it?

Jack: It's the way politics is played. Trust me. Look, I learned from the best, or the worst, depending on how you look at it. And I was one myself, you know.

Jennifer: Jack.

Jack: Truly-- listen to me. Lie, deny, otherwise obfuscate. If you can't convince them, confuse them. And you'll laugh all the way into office if you're lucky enough to get there.

Jennifer: Yeah, well, I hate it.

Jack: I know you do. You made me hate it too. You know, Daniel's not the only one who thought this job would had been perfect for you.

Jennifer: Wait--wait. You've lost me.

Jack: You're a decent person, Jennifer. You're better than most. You make most people want to be better. Look, you want to change the way the game is played, I say bully for you.

Jennifer: Well, Nicole thinks I'm a total pushover.

Jack: Does Nicole know you better than I do? No. You're not a pushover by any stretch of the imagination.

Jennifer: Thank you for saying that, Jack.

Jack: Hey, you were ready to throw down in public with the opposition. It's not exactly pushover behavior.

Jennifer: Yeah, not exactly very smart behavior, either, but thank you for showing up when you did. You and Daniel.

Jack: Well.

Jennifer: Wait. You both showed up at the same time.

Jack: Yeah, lucky for Nicole.

Jennifer: How did that happen?

Jack: Well, um... we met at the pub, and I bought him a beer.

Jennifer: Oh, I mean, a couple days ago, you couldn't stand to be in the same room together.

Jack: Things change.

Jennifer: Yeah, apparently.

Jack: Well, it's like this-- the guy just found out that he can't be a surgeon anymore. His whole life's turned upside down by something he can't control. I know what that feels like. Kind of like you don't know if you're coming or going. I can totally understand why he'd be thinking about leaving town.

Jennifer: What?

Sami: All right, will, I won't try to change your mind.

Will: Oh, good.

Sami: But I do think that there are some things that you haven't thought through carefully about this decision.

Will: Oh, really? Like what?

Sami: Well, if you choose to associate with the DiMeras, what are people going to think? They're going to think that you have the same values as the DiMeras.

Will: Values? Really, Mom, you're going to talk to me about values? You?

Sami: Will... I realize that you are old enough to make your own decisions, but I am your mother. [Laughs] I have made a lot of mistakes in my life.

Will: Mm-hmm.

Sami: And I don't want to see you making a mistake that you are going to regret for the rest of your life.

Will: I'm not.

Sami: I know you can't see it now. I know that. But you have to trust me. I know what EJ is capable of. He can do anything, he can convince anyone of anything to get what he wants.

Will: Oh, so you think he's using me?

Sami: I don't know what EJ's endgame is here. I do know that he doesn't have your heart, and he doesn't have your conscience. And the things that I have seen EJ do to people--

Will: I-I know what he's capable of doing.

Sami: You know what I'm talking about. I know you do. Please, please just think about this.

Will: EJ? Uh, I think we're done here. Um, my mom's leaving.

Hope: Thank you for believing in me. It's just what I need right now.

Roman: I have no doubt you'll get to the bottom of this.

Hope: You're right. I will. I will get to the bottom. It's just a matter of when. I don't know. I don't know. I just feel like we're--we're missing something that's so obvious.

Bo: And I know what that something is. It's the same thing that's missing from this most-wanted list. And you're right. It is obvious.

Hope: What are we missing?

Bo: It's the list.

Roman: What's wrong with it?

Bo: Well, tell me who's not on it?

Hope: Wh--let me see. Stefano.

Bo: Bingo. Public enemy number one. And he's not on Salem's most-wanted list?

Roman: And that is because he has never been convicted of a single crime. And now he's got the public believing he is a legitimate businessman, thanks to DiMera Enterprises.

Bo: Yeah. Well, we know that's not true. And even though we wish he wasn't involved with Mrs. H, he really was.

Hope: You're right. We know that Gran helped him when EJ was a baby and got sick.

Bo: She basically saved EJ's life. And Stefano wanted to repay the favor by giving her this I.O.U. that she could use at any time in the future.

Hope: Which is exactly how we were able to use him... to prove the embezzlement case against John was false.

Roman: Yeah. That's amazing.

Bo: So I'm thinking the answer is staring us in the face. Is it really that much of a reach to think that Stefano DiMera is the other name on this safe deposit box?

Daniel: Hey, you don't have to worry about Nicole. She took off, so--

Jennifer: Great. Thank you.

Jack: Well, I say good riddance.

Daniel: Yeah, you're not the only one.

Jack: Well, uh, now that all the excitement's died down, I'll be going. School's tomorrow. I've gotta get a few things for class. If I'm not prepared, how can I expect the students to be prepared? You okay?

Jennifer: Hmm? Yeah, I'm fine. Thank you for what you did today.

Jack: Anytime.

Daniel: You sure you're all right? You seem, you know, just a little off.

Jennifer: Yeah, I'm not all right. I am a little off.

Daniel: What's up?

Jennifer: Jack just told me that you were thinking about leaving town. That's not true, right?

EJ: Is there, uh... anything else, Samantha?

Sami: Just so we're clear... I'm not giving up on you. Not ever. Tell Kate her papers are in the foyer.

EJ: [Sighs] Everything okay?

Will: You know before, when you told me there'd be things I would come to appreciate about this arrangement? You were right.
