Provided By SuzanneDaniel: Only on my hands. The tests have already ruled out myasthenia gravis. Yeah. No, yeah, I'll send you the films tomorrow. That'd be great. All right, appreciate you taking a look. Thanks.
Kate: Sounds serious.
Daniel: Oh, what, you're eavesdropping on me now?
Kate: Please, you're on your cell in a public place. The hostess inside probably knows there's something wrong with you.
Daniel: There's nothing wrong.
Daniel: Get lost.
Kate: And desert you in your hour of need? Never.
Gabi: Hey, your paperwork is all done. That means we are finally coworkers.
Melanie: Oh, all right. Well, I only work part-time, though.
Gabi: Oh, well, that doesn't matter. I mean, our hours will overlap sometimes. Plus, that's not even the biggest perk.
Melanie: What is?
Gabi: Hello? All the hot guys that work out here every day.
Melanie: Oh. Hi. [Laughs] Like a lot of the hot guys will be getting Botox injections from me.
Gabi: True. But the sign-in sheet, where all the martial arts classes is gonna be, that's gonna be eye-candy central.
Melanie: I'm gonna spend a lot of time there. Um, so are you over will, then?
Gabi: Um... I mean, I do miss him. I do. It was just--our relationship wasn't working, and someone had to say something about it.
Melanie: Sure. So you don't regret anything?
Gabi: It sucks, but it was just time to cut our losses.
Melanie: Yeah. No, sometimes that's all you can do.
Abigail: I know that I've been really distracted lately, and I know that you've noticed. But I just need you to know that it's not--it's not you.
Abigail: It's--it's me. It's totally all me.
Chad: Abigail, what are you-- what are you trying to say?
Abigail: I don't know. I'm just--I'm really confused.
Chad: About us?
Abigail: About everything, really. I just--I feel like I've been taking stuff out on you lately, and... I don't want to do that. I'm sorry, because you are an amazing boyfriend, and I don't want to mess this up. I don't want to mess us up.
Chad: Well, what's going to mess us up?
Austin: Oh, hey, Abigail.
Will: What, uh--what's taking you so long? I was starting to get worried.
Marlena: What's taking me so long to what?
Will: Uh, our game. It's been your turn since last night. I know. I did drop a triple word score on you, but you're not giving up, right?
Marlena: No chance, smarty-pants. I'll get to it. I'll get to it, uh... later.
Will: What's wrong?
John: Hey, you bastard.
Stefano: John... how good to see you too.
John: Save it.
Stefano: [Chuckles] I thought you'd be in a happier mood.
John: Why is that?
Stefano: Why? Your sentence has been overturned. You're not going to spend the rest of your miserable life in prison.
John: Well, I hope you're not waiting for me to thank you.
Stefano: Well, yes, I am-- uh... I'm a little confused here, I mean, uh, as to what you are doing here with me, instead of being home in the bosom of your loved one.
John: Oh, shut up.
Stefano: You know, someone should talk to you about your priorities.
John: Well, it won't be you, old man, because I will never owe you a damn thing.
Marlena: Sweetie, there's nothing wrong.
Will: Mm-hmm. Are you sure? Because I'm not a doctor, but... uh, my grandmother is.
Marlena: [Laughs] Oh, it--it's just a lot-- you know, it's the holidays. John's home.
Will: So you're--you're good distracted?
Marlena: Yeah, very good.
Will: You know, I was watching you and John. And you two--you could not take your eyes off each other all night. I guess that's why they call it true love.
Marlena: Say, have you given any more thought to my off
Will: About, uh, moving in with you?
Will: Um... uh, I don't know. I mean, I know I don't want to live with my mom, definitely, and I-I would love to live with you and John... really. But, um...
Marlena: But what?
Will: But Rafe counts on my help with the kids, you know, and I can't--I just can't bail on him.
Marlena: Oh, I get it.
Will: You get what?
Marlena: You're deflecting.
Will: No, I'm not deflecting.
Marlena: Yes, you are. Yes, you are. You are.
Will: Mm-mm. No.
Marlena: Because what you're struggling with has nothing to do with where you live. Am I right?
Daniel: Well, I will tell you this. I wouldn't confide my grocery list to you. So what makes you think I'm going to tell you something remotely personal?
Kate: Because you seem rather concerned about whatever it is. Oh, come on, I'm not going to bite. I'm just offering you a friendly ear.
Daniel: You know, why am I talking to you? I'm not sure.
Kate: You know, if I hadn't heard you on the phone, I'd think you just have a ridiculous hangover or really way too much coffee.
Daniel: Yeah, well, nobody cares what you think.
Kate: Yeah, well, maybe you should.
Daniel: Really? Why should I?
Kate: Because if you don't tell me what the real story is, then you're going to leave me wondering what's wrong.
Austin: I just came by to drop off some papers for your mom.
Abigail: Oh. I-- I'll make sure she gets them as soon as she gets home.
Austin: Great. Great. Thanks.
Chad: Austin. Hey, buddy, how's it going?
Austin: Hey, Chad. Good, good. You?
Chad: Sure can't complain. Uh, hey, are we still going to the square later?
Austin: Actually, I'm going there right now if you guys need a ride. I got some time to kill before my next meeting.
Chad: Great. I'll grab our coats, and we'll roll. All right?
Chad: All right.
Stefano: Who said you owed me anything?
John: You know exactly what I'm talking about.
Stefano: No, I--no, I'm afraid not. I...
John: Bo, hope, Rafe... you gave them the necessary information for them to figure out how to get these charges against me dropped.
Stefano: Ah, and this is the way you show your gratitude, huh? Huh? You'd rather be back in prison, is that it?
John: Accepting help from you is just trading one jail cell for another.
Stefano: You know, I think that's something only you think.
John: You come near me or my family again... and I will kill you with my bare hands.
Stefano: [Groans] You are either a big fool, John black... or you're the most selfish man alive.
Kate: I mean, if your abilities are impaired, you're a liability to the hospital, right?
Daniel: Tell me what you really think, Kate. Good-bye.
Kate: Oh, come on, Daniel. I just want to know what's going on with you.
Daniel: Really? Out of what, some perverse curiosity?
Kate: No. It's hard to believe, I know, but my concern is genuine. Despite what I feel about you personally, I do think that you're a good doctor--an amazing doctor. You saved my life. You saved my son's life, and for that, I'm grateful.
Daniel: Okay. I'll bite.
Kate: Who else are you going to pour your--your story out to, huh? Is that going to be Maggie "I can't believe my last name is" Kiriakis? Is that going to be your wise and so wonderful daughter/nurse/ Botox specialist?
Daniel: You're winning me over by the minute here.
Kate: Because those two women, you see, they're never going to tell you the truth, because they don't want to hurt your feelings.
Daniel: Ah, something you never really worried about, hurting my feelings.
Kate: No, no, of course not.
Daniel: No, not you.
Kate: If you want to talk to someone who's not going to sugarcoat the truth, then I'm your woman, because the fact of the matter is... sometimes the truth hurts.
Will: Um, you know, they say that moving is one of the most stressful things that somebody could go through.
Marlena: Yeah, I've heard that. I hate it when you do this.
Will: You're the one who said maybe I should.
Marlena: No, no, no, I'm talking about the part where you change the subject if it gets uncomfortable for you.
Will: Oh, I know. I'm sorry. I'm not trying to upset you.
Marlena: You're not upsetting me. You said to me that you're having some confusion about your feelings.
Will: [Stammers] Isn't that normal, though-- you know, for a guy my age to be confused about stuff like that? It's really not a big deal.
Marlena: You know, I'm wondering if--if, um, you might feel more comfortable opening up to somebody else who isn't your grandmother.
Will: No. Are you kidding? You're the only person in my life that I can talk to... not that there's anything to talk about.
Marlena: Well, we both know that ain't so, Joe. You listen to me. Me will not hurt you. And nothing will ever push me away from you. But when you keep these feelings all bottled up inside, they do hurt somebody. They hurt you.
John: You think I'm a fool?
Stefano: Can you think of a better word, the way you're acting?
John: I was in the position I was in because of you. You tore innocent people's lives apart. You stole their life savings. You put their futures on the line, all to get at me.
Stefano: Yes. I am the reason that you are here. Are you crazy?
Gabi: Hey, I heard you guys were at the spa today? Sorry I missed you.
Sonny: Yeah, she could have given you an extra towel.
Gabi: Shut up.
Austin: Why are you so quiet all of a sudden?
Abigail: I'm not.
Gabi: Hey, is that break free, break up?
Sonny: Yeah, what is that?
Gabi: Oh, it's a book about ending relationships.
Abigail: Why are you reading that?
Will: [Sighs] I'm sorry. I just, um... I don't know what to say.
Marlena: Well, just put any words at all to it, whatever comes into your mind.
Will: [Sighs] I-I-I can't, though.
Marlena: Okay. Remember the last time we talked about this?
Will: Sort of.
Marlena: You said, because you and your gal had broken up, it might be a time to kind of examine your options.
Will: I didn't say that. You said that.
Marlena: I said it?
Marlena: Oh, well... I think you agreed, though, didn't you?
Will: Yes, but isn't that what you do when you break up with somebody?
Marlena: Sure. And apparently Gabi had also said that she broke up with you because there was something lacking...
Marlena: Some kind of intimacy that was lacking.
Will: Okay, can you stop, please? Please stop trying to figure me out. I'm not your patient. I'm your grandson, and I'm fine.
Kate: So you carry the genetic markers for...
Both: Myasthenia gravis.
Daniel: That's right.
Kate: But that's not what it is?
Daniel: It could be a number of other possibilities, but none of them seem to fit. I just got my test results back today. That showed nothing.
Kate: What are you going to do now?
Daniel: I'll schedule myself some cat scans, get a few more tests done, sit around and wait--that's what I do.
Kate: Being a doctor is the world to you. You lose your ability to operate, you lose your identity. You have to be terrified.
Daniel: Wow. Wow, you really don't sugarcoat it, do you?
Kate: In my opinion, I just think you're jumping the gun. You're assuming the worst.
Daniel: I'm not jumping the gun--I'm not assuming the worst.
Kate: You told me yourself, you told me yourself, the symptoms just happened out of the blue.
Daniel: Okay, you know, the odds of this being nothing are pretty slim, just for the record.
Kate: Wow, you know, doctors are all alike. You really are. I mean, you're cautious with your patients, but when it comes to you, you just, like, leap, leap to the worst-possible-case scenario. Why don't you just take your ego out of it? Take it out of it and assume that it's not complicated, that it's not incurable.
Daniel: It's funny.
Daniel: I thought you'd be smiling by now.
Daniel: Well, this is what you've been waiting for, isn't it, to see me suffer for falling for Chloe?
Kate: Falling for Chloe was punishment enough.
Daniel: Yeah, well, here it is, right now. It's happening, and you didn't even have to lift a finger.
Kate: Do you really think I enjoy seeing you in pain?
Daniel: It is the DiMera way.
John: So you admit that you set me up.
John: And you think that's funny?
Stefano: [Laughing] Is that what you thought I meant when I said that you were right? Oh, John.
John: Easy, old man--you don't want to yank me around.
Stefano: All I was doing was trying to admit the fact that I was with the others in getting your name back.
John: And why would you willingly be a part of that?
Stefano: Simple... a long-held debt with Alice Horton. She saved Elvis' life when he was a baby, and I wanted to keep a promise.
Stefano: No, no, no, look, believe me, I would never have paid her back for her good deed by saving your wretched rear end, okay? No, no, but, alas, I am a man of my word, so I wanted to keep my promise.
John: What do you think--I'm supposed to be grateful? I never wanted your help!
Stefano: I gave you your life back! Yeah, expecting any kind of... gratitude from you... is a joke, of course. [Chuckles] Because the only thing that you want from me is for me to take my last breath.
John: Well, at least you got that right.
Stefano: So... the only way for you to thank me for saving your life... is for you to take mine. Do it. Pull the trigger.
John: So you want me to kill you?
Stefano: Isn't that what you want? Hmm? I'm giving you the chance of a lifetime. Take it... my well-trained killing machine.
John: You are insane.
Stefano: Why? Because I'm not afraid to die? [Laughs] Think about it, John. What a wonderful way to ring in the new year.
John: And a lot of people would celebrate.
Stefano: Yes, but there are a few who would not want to see me go. I know that she would never admit it, but my lovely queen of the night would miss me.
John: Do not talk about my wife.
Stefano: What are you, worried about the consequences? You need me, John. You know that you cannot survive without me.
John: Whatever you tried to turn me into... I'm better than that, Stefano. Otherwise I would've killed you in a heartbeat.
Stefano: No, John. No, no, no, no. [Sighs] The reason that you cannot pull that trigger is pride. Oh, I know that you would not accept my help to get you out of jail, but what really, really pains you is that someone did... and they did not tell you. Even though she helped save your life, as far as Marlena is concerned, she will always be a traitor to you. Now... I am not the object of your fury, am I? No. That happens to be your wife.
Will: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you.
Marlena: It's okay. It's what happens when you bottle things up inside. They bubble over, and they come out in ways that are hurtful... destructive.
Will: Like what I did at aunt Maggie's.
Marlena: And being short with your mother.
Will: I don't want to talk about her.
Marlena: I know. But I think you get the idea, don't you?
Will: I'm ju--I can't--I'm-- I can't think about this right now.
Marlena: I think... you can't think about anything else.
Will: Oh, I just want to-- I want to be able to feel like I can breathe again, you know?
Marlena: I do know.
Will: Okay. Gabi was right when she broke up with me... because things weren't, um, the way they were supposed to be with us, you know. A-and I knew that. But I kept making excuses for it. And she thought that I didn't care about her, but I did, and I do... a lot... just--just--just not the way that she--she needed me to... you know? And, um, I tried, I wanted-- I wanted to be that--the boyfriend that she wanted, you know? But I--but I--but it felt so and, um... and she knew that, and she called me on it... at Maggie's house, and, uh... she probably--she probably knew how I really felt better than I did.
Marlena: What do you mean by that?
Kate: I said I'm not going to coddle you, but I'm not going to take pleasure in your situation.
Daniel: Yeah, for now.
Kate: [Sighs] I'm not the monster that you think I am. I was in love with you once.
Daniel: What are you doing?
Kate: I just don't want to see you get ahead of yourself without a proper diagnosis.
Daniel: What are you doing?
Kate: I owe you. I owe you. When I was ill and scared and alone... you were there for me, and you were kind, and you were supportive.
Daniel: Do not do this now.
Kate: No, I... have to. I haven't been shown that kind of compassion very often in my life. And I want you to know... I want you to know that I'll never forget it. I take an omega for my heart.
Austin: Come on, it's not what you think, guys.
Chad: Yeah, yeah, sure it
Gabi: Let him talk.
Austin: A psych professor at the university wrote it. We were all given copies at our last staff meeting.
Abigail: So you're not reading it?
Austin: I, uh... you know, I looked through it.
Gabi: Does it have any tips about how to handle a breakup?
Austin: Uh, the parts I've read were about when to break up, how to avoid the most stress and heartbreak.
Gabi: Too late.
Austin: The author says a lot of couples stay together for the sake of the other person, which is sheer insanity, 'cause it makes it harder on everyone. Look, this is common sense. If you're not with your soul mate and you know it, the best thing you can do is, uh... is end it.
Gabi: I guess I did the right thing, then, huh? Um, I'm sorry. I know that will's your nephew. I never meant to hurt him.
Austin: Oh, I know you didn't, Gabi. Look, will is my nephew, and I love him dearly, but that doesn't mean that he's the right guy for you. Your guy is still out there, waiting for you to find him.
Sonny: Uh, speaking of waiting, I have to get out of here. I'm meeting a friend at the pub.
Gabi: A friend friend or somebody special?
Sonny: Uh, a friend friend.
Gabi: Friend friend?
Sonny: Yeah, I'll let you get--yeah, I'm gonna get going.
Sonny: I will.
[Cell phone ringing]
Austin: Oh, that's Carrie. I got to take that. I'll be right back.
Gabi: Oh, now that Carrie's talking to Austin, I think it's a good time to call Rafe.
Will: Look... [Crying] I... I can't. I'm sorry.
Marlena: It's okay. It's okay. You will talk whenever you're ready. And when you do, I will be right here to listen.
Marlena: And whatever you tell me, please remember... I will always love you. And I will never, ever judge you.
Will: I love you too. [Sobbing] I love you so much. And I'm sorry. I got to--I got to go.
Marlena: [Sobs] I love you, too, so much.
Stefano: [Sighs] Like it Marlena and I share an unbreakable bond... one that you will never understand.
John: And you are a deluded fool.
Stefano: Am I? [Laughs] No, no, no, no. [Chuckling] Oh, John. [Clears throat] Tell me something--why is it that she accepted my help so easily, huh? And why is it that she didn't tell you, hmm? Because the truth of the matter is, every time that there was a very difficult moment in her life, Marlena always turned to the one man that she knew would be there for her. That man...s not you.
John: Perhaps you're right. It is your time. Since I've lost weight I have so much more energy than I used to,
Sonny: What are you--what are you doing here?
Will: Um, I just didn't feel like going home.
Sonny: Why don't you go to the town square? Everyone's there. You can meet up with them.
Will: No. I'll pass.
Sonny: Would you like me to sit somewhere else-- leave you alone here? I'm just waiting on a friend.
Will: No, sit wherever you want. I don't--it doesn't matter to me.
Sonny: All right. Um, it's probably better that you didn't go anyway.
Sonny: Well, 'cause Gabi was there. I don't know...
Will: Yeah. Okay.
Sonny: How you doing with that, with the breakup?
Will: With the breakup? Uh, I'm fine.
Sonny: You know, I had a couple bad breakups myself. And this is gonna sound really stupid, but give it time. Everything will become easier.
Will: So you're saying I'm not gonna feel like an idiot forever. That's--that's good to know.
Sonny: Come on, why do you feel like an idiot? Why?
Will: Because, um-- because I lost my girlfriend. I didn't see it coming. And I feel like an idiot also, because I couldn't feel what I was supposed to feel.
Sonny: Yeah, but what are you supposed to feel, man?
Will: Just--it's just things weren't right, and I just kept hoping that, you know, everything would work out how it was supposed to.
Sonny: What do you think wasn't right about it? What was supposed to happen?
Tyler: Sonny, hey, man. Sorry. Traffic was gnarly.
Sonny: Traffic. This guy--are you sure you weren't on Tyler time? You are always late. He is always late every single time. D like to point out that that is pretty much my only flaw. Right.
Tyler: Whatever. Buy me a beer.
Sonny: And he's always broke.
Tyler: Two flaws.
Kate: You start slipping over to the dark side and need someone to pull you back, you know where to find me.
Daniel: I'm not afraid of the dark.
Kate: That makes two of us. Melanie.
Melanie: Kate. What was that about?
Daniel: I have no idea.
Daniel: Yeah, I don't know. I guess I'm gonna have to add hallucinations to my list of symptoms.
Melanie: Oh, ha, that's not funny even a little bit. Have you--speaking of, have you heard anything about the results?
Melanie: The test results?
Daniel: No. Yes, I have. Everything's come back, you know, inconclusive, everything at all. There you go. Have a seat.
Daniel: Probably not even gonna know anything till, you know, new year's.
Melanie: That sucks. I'm sorry.
Daniel: Yeah, it totally sucks. What's going on with you?
Daniel: Whoa. Flag on the play.
Melanie: Flag on--flag on the what?
Daniel: Flag on the play. Yeah, because every time you want something from me, you're just relentless. You keep pursuing, pursuing, pursuing. So flag on the play. Back up ten yards. I want to know what's going on.
Melanie: Is this, like, a football thing?
Daniel: No, I want answers.
Melanie: All right, fine. Um, there's somebody that I care about, you know, probably more than I should.
Daniel: And that's a problem how?
Melanie: Because nothing's ever gonna come from it... ever. [Chuckles]
Stefano: Go on. Do what you've dreamed about for years.
John: No. I know all your tricks. I've seen them how many times? You plant doubts in people's minds, then you manipulate them. And you would stop at nothing to tear Marlena and me apart, and a bullet to your brain would do just that. So this... is done.
[Chess pieces clatter]
John: You failed, Stefano. And now I don't owe you a damn thing.
Daniel: You know, I can see it--I can see it. You're upset.
Melanie: I'm not upset.
Daniel: Yes, you are. Look at you. You're upset.
Melanie: I'm not upset. Dad, I'm sad. I'm sad. I'm just sad.
Daniel: Well, then--well, why is there no chance of you working things out with this guy?
Melanie: I don't know. There's just not.
Daniel: Well, why do you got to be so sure?
Daniel: Because why?
Melanie: He's dating my best friend.
Daniel: We're talking about Chad, right?
Melanie: Yeah. Mm-hmm. And it doesn't matter. He just thinks of me as a friend.
Daniel: No, boys and girls can't be friends.
Melanie: Yeah, I'm starting to realize that. [Chuckles] Uh... I'm trying to not think about him. It's just really hard. Why does love have to be so hard?
Daniel: Well, if I knew, I'd tell you.
Abigail: So what are you up to for the rest of the day?
Gabi: I'm probably just gonna go home and download that book.
Austin: No, Gabi, here, take mine.
Gabi: Are you sure?
Austin: Yeah, yeah, I can always get another one from the professor who wrote it.
Gabi: Thank you.
Austin: And maybe ask for some free advice.
Abigail: On what?
Austin: Now that I'm part of the faculty, I'm gonna be asked to publish something myself. And I've got to get to a departmental meeting, so I'll see you guys later.
Gabi: See you.
Chad: Yeah, man. Thanks for the ride.
Austin: You got it.
Abigail: Yeah, thanks. That was really sweet of you.
Austin: Anytime, Abby.
[Cell phone ringing]
Abigail: Hey, you know, if you're not gonna read that right away, do you mind if I borrow it?
Gabi: Uh, yeah. Well, why, though? I mean, aren't you with Chad? I thought you guys were perfect.
Sonny: I can't believe you're busting on my haircut right now.
Tyler: You look like O'Hara.
Sonny: Dude. That's cold. O'Hara is our business professor. He's got this disgusting comb-over, which mine looks nothing like, by the way.
Tyler: Looks like mousse roadkill.
Sonny: Now my hair is roadkill.
Tyler: I'm kidding.
Sonny: See what I have to put up with.
Tyler: Come on, really, just please do something with it before tomorrow night. We're going public.
Sonny: True. Maybe I'll put it up a little bit.
Tyler: That's cute.
Will: Where are you guys going public?
Sonny: Oh, we're going to this party. You should come with us. It's gonna be fun. It'll get you out of the house, right? It'll get your mind off Gabi.
Will: I'm okay.
Sonny: Come on. Come on.
Will: I have plans already. Thanks. It sounds like fun.
Tyler: Come on. It's gonna be the bomb.
Sonny: Did you--did you say the party was gonna be the bomb?
Tyler: What? Too 2011?
Sonny: Too 1995?
John: I'm sorry. You're so right, doc. I would have done the same thing for you in a heartbeat.
Stefano: [Chuckling] [Laughing wickedly]
EJ: Here's to me not being stupid enough to let you go again.
Rafe: I've got a feeling this is gonna be the best year yet.
Will: You're gonna have to swear to me that you will not tell anyone.
