Maggie: Oh. [Chuckles] Hello.
Melanie: Oh, you guys, you're worse than a bunch of teenagers.
Victor: I think she just called us old.
Maggie: [Laughs] Ooh... how's the turkey? The one in the oven, I mean.
Melanie: Ah, yes, it's a little less plump, and I may or may not have tried a lot of the stuffing.
Melanie: My dad doesn't know what he's missing.
Maggie: I just wish he was joining us tonight.
Victor: Yeah, so do we all. But who can blame him? After breaking up with Jennifer, I guess a night with the Hortons is probably the last thing he needs.
Melanie: Yeah. I know.
Maggie: Come here.
Melanie: It's Christmas eve alone. Hope he doesn't spend the whole time thinking about Jennifer.
Jack: What a perfect Christmas eve. Stars in the sky, my girls by my side... only thing we're missing is J.J.
Jennifer: I know. I wish he could be here right now.
Abigail: Me too. I guess skiing in the alps is pretty cool, but if you ask me, this is much better.
Hope: One, two, three... whoo!
Bo: All right, you guys stay where we can see you, and have some fun.
Hope: Don't eat too much candy.
Abe: [Laughs] Hey, uh, is there any progress on John's case?
Bo: Yeah, Rafe and Carrie are looking into a lead right now, and we think they're gonna have some pretty good news for us for Christmas.
Lexie: All right.
Hope: So, uh, Abe, I've heard some wonderful things about a speech you're gonna make tonight.
Abe: [Chuckles] Well, really, you know, I'm just kind of hoping that maybe we--
Lexie: What? Wha--
Bo: Ugh. Trouble has arrived.
Lexie: Oh, hell, no. There's no way I'm allowing EJ to ruin Abe's speech, not tonight.
John: Merry Christmas... from Brady and me.
Marlena: Oh, thank you. May I?
John: Oh, you bet. That's it--rip into it.
Marlena: Go, go, go, go. Ooh. Oh, John. What beautiful, beautiful charms.
John: No, not just charms. Those are good-luck charms for your second chance at life.
[Knock at door]
Will: Hi. Merry Christmas eve.
Marlena: Oh, honey. Oh, honey.
Marlena: Oh... what are you doing here? Aren't you meant to be at Sami's "renewing her vows" event?
Will: Yeah, I'm going. But I came to get you, 'cause you're coming with me.
Marlena: Oh, honey. No, um... I mean, I'd like to, but, uh, the thing is I, um... I wasn't invited. And I--and I don't, uh... I don't want to go when, uh, it feels like just kind of crashing the party.
Will: You won't-- look, okay, I'm inviting you. Officially, you're invited, and I want you to be there, okay? I don't care what my mom thinks.
Sami: Oh, thank god you're here. I have so many things to do before the ceremony. I can't find my shoe, and Johnny won't put his pants on.
Austin: Don't--listen, don't worry. I'm--I'm here to work my magic. I'm gonna help you.
Sami: [Sighs] Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Austin: Okay, okay, listen, just take a breath. Sami, tonight is supposed to be a very happy time for you. You're getting remarried.
Sami: I am happy! I'm very happy. I'm perfectly... happy, you know. It's just that I want it all to be perfect, and Rafe's running late.
Austin: No, I know. I talked to Carrie, but they may have a break in John's case. But listen, they're gonna be done soon, okay?
Sami: Yeah. Except for that John's involved, which means he's gonna ruin everything, just like he always does.
Carrie: As you can see, your honor, it would've been impossible for John black to make the transactions in which he's been implicated by the prosecution. At the time, the internet in his area was on government shutdown.
Rafe: Which means the documents supplied by the FBI were, in fact, falsified.
Carrie: It was my decision, your honor, to keep our meeting private. John black and his wife have been through enough. I didn't want to get their hopes up until I knew the outcome.
Judge Goldberg: How thoughtful of you. So, counselor, what would you suggest we do, hmm?
Carrie: I think the evidence speaks for itself, your honor. My client's guilty plea must be overturned and all charges dropped. John black deserves to be set free tonight.
Lexie: Oh, no, you don't. No, no, no. If you think I'm gonna let you upstage another one of Abe's speeches, it ain't gonna happen.
EJ: Alexandra, it's Christmas. We're just here to celebrate like everybody else. I'm taking the night off, okay? And actually, you know, father, uh, and I were wondering if maybe, um, you and Abe and Theo would like to come around to the house later to celebrate.
Lexie: [Laughs] You've got to be kidding me.
EJ: Well, I mean, maybe just--maybe Theo could come and get his presents, at least. It's Christmas, you know. It's about family.
Theo: Hey, daddy!
Abe: Hey. [Chuckles]
Bo: You having fun?
Lexie: If you really cared about us being a family, you wouldn't have entered this race in the first place.
Marlena: I am so touched that you want to include me in tonight. Honey, it's Sami's special time. I don't want to ruin that for her.
Will: You're not ruining it for her. Okay, and think about Johnny and Allie and Sydney. They want you there. And I want you there. Come on. Please? It's Christmas eve. You should be hanging out with your family, not by yourself on the couch, crying over an old photo album.
Marlena: I wasn't crying.
Will: Mm-hmm. Okay, look... you don't want to go, then I'm not gonna go, and we can both chillax and, uh, cry over photo albums together.
Marlena: Oh, you are so stubborn! Honest to goodness, you are just as stubborn--you're just like your mother.
Will: No, I'm not. I'm nothing like her.
Judge Goldberg: Assuming this information you've brought to light is accurate, I'm still struggling with one thing. Why on earth would your client, a supposed innocent man, plead guilty?
Carrie: He knew the public was out for his blood, so he did what he had to do to satisfy them... to protect his family.
Judge Goldberg: Is the FBI willing to withdraw the charges?
Man: This is an extremely unusual situation.
Judge Goldberg: It certainly is.
Man: Well, if the court agrees, I would like to consult with my colleagues first.
Judge Goldberg: Fine. But do it fast. Some of us have families we'd like to get home to. You two are free to go. I'll let you know as soon as there's a decision.
Abe: And now, without further ado, I would like to introduce tonight's very special guest.
Abe: He's traveled all the way from the north pole...
Abe: Ladies and gentlemen Santa Claus!
[Cheers and applause]
Santa: Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! Hey... merry Christmas, everybody! I'm going to tell you a story.
Julie: Santa's going to tell you a story.
Santa: [German accent] Ja. Ja, this is gut now.
Julie: Ja. Santa came from Germany.
Santa: Thank you... [Laughter] From the far north.
Julie: The far north.
Santa: Ja. Now, ladies and gentlemen and boys and girls, our story starts with a star... a bright star that shone in the night sky over a town called Bethlehem.
Santa: Und now the story.
Will: Thank you for coming.
Marlena: When you said you would drag me out, I didn't figure I really had a choice.
Will: That's correct. You did not have a choice.
Marlena: You cutie.
Marlena: So... will we see Gabi here tonight?
Will: Uh, no, she, um... she's spending the holidays with her mom.
Marlena: Oh. And, um, how are you doing?
Will: I'm great. I mean, I'm--I'm over it.
Marlena: Good. Did you forget that I'm a psychiatrist? So let's do that again. How are you, will?
Melanie: So where's Chad tonight?
Abigail: Oh, he and sonny are working at the soup kitchen.
Melanie: Oh, how cool. I didn't know Chad was into charity work.
Abigail: Yeah, well, I think it has something to do with him not wanting to end up like his father--you know, the Grinch.
Melanie: I am familiar.
Melanie: I think they're done with the candy. Um, so what did you end up getting him?
Melanie: Chad, your boyfriend--the guy we were just talking about.
Abigail: Right. Yes. Um, actually, I decided to go with the video game that you suggested, 'cause apparently it is all the rave right now in boy world. You were right.
Melanie: You're welcome. [Both laugh] I'm sure he'll love it.
Will: Uh, okay... yeah, you're right, um... I just thought that--that Gabi and I could make it work, you know?
Marlena: Yes, I do know.
Will: But, um... [Sighs] I guess, uh... I really--I love the idea of us more than I-I-I loved her.
Marlena: That shows a lot of insight. I'm proud of you.
Will: Thank you. Um... I've just had a lot of time to think lately. You know, I've been... [Sighs] I've had--I've been having these feelings for a while now. And I can't... I can't get rid of them. And I've been trying, but I c-- I can't...
Marlena: What kind of feelings, will?
Will: Actually, you know what? Now is not a-a great time. Um, can we go find the rest of the family?
Marlena: Of course we can.
Marlena: Oh, my beautiful babies! Look at you! Are you all ready for the wedding? [Laughs]
Sami: What's she doing here?
Will: Uh, she is my plus-one.
Sami: You should've asked me.
Will: Oh. Uh, I guess it just slipped my mind.
Austin: Ooh, I got an idea. Kids, why don't we go get some hot cocoa, huh? Come on, sweetie. Come on.
Sami: I didn't want to have to say this. This is a really special night for Rafe and me, and I didn't want anything or anyone to ruin it. I didn't ask you to come because I don't want you here. And I would like for you to leave. On my phone, I got internet! Hotspot five dollars.
Will: Okay, let me ask you a question, mom. What the hell is wrong with you? She is your mother.
Sami: And I'm your mother, and you don't speak to me that way.
Marlena: Sami, I know you're upset with me, but please don't take it out on will.
Sami: [Sighs] Yes. Yes, I am upset with you. I can't even look at you right now.
Marlena: All right. Well, good luck with your event tonight. You look... you look stunning. Well, I'll see you later.
Will: Mom, wait. Grandma, wait. You said you wanted to do this on Christmas eve in front of god and in front of your family. I'm not sure who you're talking about. Okay... if you leave, I leave. Come on.
Sami: Wait. I didn't realize how important this was to will. But obviously it means a lot to him. So it's okay with me if you stay. Please don't make me regret this.
Marlena: I never would.
Abigail: Hey, Allie.
Allie: Uncle Austin, did you know she's my cousin?
Austin: Really? Well, that makes you very lucky, because you know what? She's also a very good friend of mine.
Abigail: Where's Carrie?
Austin: She's working.
Abigail: On Christmas eve?
Austin: Yeah, just be glad you're not doing pre-law.
Sami: Oh, hey, there you are. Um, thank you so much for helping me. I'm sorry Rafe's--
Austin: Look, Sami, I told you, anything on your special day. Don't worry about it.
Sami: Well, you've been awesome, you know-- cupcakes notwithstanding. Um, can you continue to watch Allie for just one more minute while I take Sydney and Johnny to see their dad?
Austin: Go. Whatever you need.
Sami: Thank you. Thank you, Abigail.
Sami: Come on, kids.
Austin: Um, can I offer you a cup of hot cocoa too?
Abigail: I would love one.
Austin: You got it.
Rafe: If this judge doesn't hurry up, I'm not going to have a wife to renew my vows with.
Carrie: Well, why don't you go ahead? I can handle this on my own.
Rafe: No. I'm not going anywhere. I still got time. I want to be here to hear the news.
Carrie: Can you believe that we're in this position because of Stefano's help?
Rafe: Well, let's not give Stefano too much credit, since he's the one who probably framed John to begin with.
Carrie: Yes, if John knew that--well, if he knew about Stefano's involvement, he would've pulled the plug before a decision was even made.
Rafe: Yeah, well, that's why John never needs to know, okay? Let's just keep this between us.
Rafe: All right?
Carrie: Uh, you're an absolute mess. Do you want some help?
Rafe: Yeah, please, can you--
Carrie: Let's see.
Carrie: Nope, you're almost there.
[Cell phone rings]
Carrie: Oh, goodness. Carrie reed. Yes, your honor. What? I don't believe it.
Johnny: So, daddy, are you coming to mommy's wedding?
EJ: Uh, no, your mother's wedding is just for family.
Johnny: But you are family.
EJ: Uh, listen, um, we have some presents for you. Maybe you'd like to open those, if that's okay with you.
Sami: Yeah. Just don't go far.
Nicole: We won't.
Will: You know, um... you really should, and let EJ save the wedding. After all, you two get along so well together lately.
Sami: Don't be ridiculous, will. What are you talking about?
Will: Oh, am I being ridiculous? Um, last time I checked, I wasn't the one renewing her vows after only one year... although, wait. For you, that--maybe that's a record. [Laughs] Actually, yeah, I think it is, 'cause this is your fifth marriage...
Will: And don't get me wrong, because Rafe is one of my faves, but, you know, sooner or later... he will figure out who you are. I did.
Sami: Will you just talk to me? Will you please tell me where this is coming from?
Will: You want to know? Oh, yeah, you do? Okay. [Chuckles] Fine. You know what? I will tell you. And I'll tell everybody here. I'll do it right now.
Hope: What are you doing?
Bo: Happy birthday, fancy face.
Hope: Bo... you didn't have to do that-- this.
Bo: [Laughs] Yeah, I kind of did. Open it up. Come on, come on, come on, come on. I searched all over for this.
Hope: My god, you-- did you wrap this? 'Cause you did a beautiful job.
Bo: Well, no, but at the shop...
Hope: I didn't think so. [Laughs] It's too good. Oh... is this--
Bo: Yes, it is. It's the book of poetry I gave you on your 18th birthday. I mean, that old one is kind of tattered and torn, so I figured you'd need a new one.
Hope: It's a first edition.
Hope: I love it. I love it. Thank you. What are you doing?
Bo: There's more.
Bo: There's more.
Hope: I'm not going to have any gifts to open on Christmas.
Bo: Well, this isn't a Christmas gift or a birthday gift. It's a... happy anniversary. [Chuckles]
Hope: [Gasps] Oh, Bo.
Bo: Well, do you want me to put it on you, see how pretty it is?
Bo: Okay, okay. Turn around.
Hope: It's beautiful. Oh, my gosh.
Bo: I thought so. Thank you so very much for being my wife. I love you, fancy face.
Hope: I love you, Beauregard, more than you'll ever know.
Nicole: Well, sir, that was very un-Grinchy of you not to overshadow Abe and his little Santa-helpers moment.
EJ: Well, 'tis the season, isn't it?
EJ: I thought I'd let him have one last glimmer of hope before we win that civil suit, 'cause when we do, his chances of being mayor are going to be squished. [Both chuckle] Why shouldn't I be generous, hmm? I have the respect of the people of Salem. I have my two wonderful children, who I love. I have you. Life could not get better.
Will: Let me put it this way. What bothers me is that you think that you can do whatever you want whenever you want, and you don't care about the people it affects. Well, I'm not going to let you do that anymore, mom. I'm not going to let you hurt more innocent people.
Sami: Will, I don't know what you're talking about. I just--
Will: You know exactly what I'm talking about. You know exactly what I'm talking about. What you did when j--
Rafe: Hey. Are you two fighting again? Huh?
Will: Well, no. I'm just talking about how she doesn't deserve you.
Rafe: All right, listen, will, I love your mother. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me.
Will: [Chuckles] Okay.
Will: You know, but--
Rafe: No, no, no, just... it's the holidays. It's Christmas, okay? We're family. Come on, can we love each other here?
Rafe: Come on. Will... wh--
Sami: I'm really glad you're here. I didn't think you were going to make it.
Rafe: Whoa, hold on, hold on. I would not miss this for the world. Look at you. Oh...
Sami: What happened at work?
Rafe: Oh, yeah. That reminds me. I got something I need to talk to you about. This isn't bad luck or anything?
John: Hey, sweetheart. How about a kiss?
Marlena: Oh! John, what are you do-- [Gasps] John! What're you doing here?
John: Well, I was kind of hoping to get a kiss from my--
Marlena: Oh, oh, oh! Oh... oh, my gosh! I just want to touch you and look at you and hold you.
John: Mm. [Chuckles]
Marlena: How'd this happen? Tell me how it happened.
John: Well, because of the evidence that Carrie and Rafe found, the judge overthrew my guilty plea and dropped all the charges against me, so it is over.
Marlena: Oh! It's a real Christmas miracle.
John: And I've got you to thank for that. I don't know how--I don't even know where to begin to start to repay you for saving my life.
Carrie: You already have... and then some.
John: Yeah, well, I'll work on something. In the meantime, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Nicole: I don't understand. How is John here?
EJ: I don't know. But trust me, I'm going to find out.
Bo: Wha--isn't it a beautiful thing... to see an innocent man reunited with his wife?
Hope: EJ, what is it? You look a little pale.
Bo: I'm thinking he might be a little upset, 'cause he was counting on winning that civil suit against John, and now that John's a free man, that ain't never gonna happen.
Bo: So all the scheming that you did to become mayor--it has been foiled.
Nicole: Wow. Really? If I were you two, I'd wipe that smug little grins off your faces, because you know what? EJ is going to be mayor. You can count on it. And then you will have to report to him. And you won't be laughing anymore. [Laughs sarcastically]
[Bo and hope laugh]
Bo: Merry Christmas.
Hope: And happy new year. [Humming]
Lexie: Aw. I am so happy for the two of you. Marlena?
Lexie: I need to talk to you. Come over here.
John: We'll get a room later.
Abe: [Laughing] Partner, it is so good to see you out from behind those bars.
John: Likewise. Listen, Abraham, I want to thank you for sticking by me. I know I gave you the hard time, but...
John: Listen, for the record, I really am sorry if my situation has damaged your campaign in any way, shape, or form.
Abe: Man, you're my friend! That's far more important than any campaign.
EJ: John... I think congratulations are in order.
John: Well, I'm sorry if I spoiled your plans to ruin my life.
EJ: Oh, you haven't spoiled my plans, John. I'm going to fight this through to the bitter end.
Austin: You know, I have to tell you something. Come here. [Sighs] You're amazing. You know that?
Carrie: [Laughs] I was just doing my job, Austin.
Austin: No, no, no, you weren't just doing your job. You went above and beyond what anyone else would've done, Carrie.
Carrie: Well, I had help. And it was well worth it. I mean, seeing John and Marlena together... I would do it all over again.
Lexie: Um, honey?
Abe: Yeah, what is it? What's going on?
Lexie: Um... okay, is it okay if I run something by you?
Abe: [Chuckles] Sure.
Lexie: Okay, um... after you perform Sami and Rafe's ceremony... is it okay if we stop by my father's? Okay, before you say anything, okay, just--just hear me out, all right? I know I said that I was done with my family. And, I mean, after everything that EJ and my father has put us through, I shouldn't give them the time of day. But I was thinking about Theo, and...
Abe: All right, all right. You don't have to explain. It's--it's Christmas.
Lexie: Thank you. Thank you. You are the most wonderful husband in the whole wide world. You know that?
Abe: And you're the most wonderful wife.
Lexie: Oh, I love you.
Bo: Congratulations again, man. Merry Christmas.
John: Thank you. You know, the fact is, I wouldn't be here right now if you hadn't have looked into those internet outages. However you came up with that idea was just sheer brilliance!
Hope: [Laughs] Yeah. Stroke of amazing luck.
Bo: Yeah, the important thing is you're here, and this whole ordeal is over.
John: Ah, not quite. It's not going to be over till I find the bastards behind this. And then I'm going to repay every single penny to the rightful owner.
Bo: Yeah, that's a good plan.
Rafe: Hey, guys.
Sami: [Clears throat] Hi.
Hope: Uh, let's go check on the kids.
Hope: Because we need to check on them, and you are looking stunning tonight.
John: Merry Christmas, you two.
Rafe: John, Marlena.
Marlena: Rafe, merry Christmas.
Rafe: Merry Christmas. We would like to ask you a favor.
John: After everything you've done for me-- come on, fire away.
Rafe: Okay. We would both like to invite you to our vow-renewal ceremony this evening.
Sami: Yes. We would like for you both to be there. John, I want you to know I'm really happy that Rafe helped prove that you're innocent.
John: You married a hell of a man.
John: Got beautiful children. You done good, kiddo. And you know what? If someone would've told me a week ago I'd be standing here right now with my family, I'd say, "you're out of your mind." So, yes... we would love nothing better than to attend your ceremony.
Hope: How does she do it?
Bo: Who do what?
Hope: Gran. How does she save the day every time? If it wasn't for her help, John would be spending Christmas in a jail cell.
Bo: [Inhales deeply] Yep. She's one amazing woman.
Hope: I miss her so much.
Bo: Yeah. We all do. But if you think about it, she's here with us... always.
Julie: Champagne, my darlings?
Bo: Oh, yes, thank you.
Julie: And one for you, sweetie pie.
Hope: Thank you, Julie.
Jack: Abigail, you're just in such a hurry to find your seat.
Jack: Okay, I guess we're claiming the couch...
[All chattering indistinctly]
Jack: 'Cause we're so polite.
Doug: Uh, excuse me, everyone.
Julie: Yes? Yes, sweetheart?
Doug: I am inspired to make a Christmas toast.
Doug: To all my wonderful family and friends... may your holiday season be filled with laughter and love and happiness and friendship and hugs and kisses. Here's to all of us... and to Alice and tom... for bringing us all together... and always reminding us what-- what family and love are truly about. Cheers.
Julie: Oh, darling.
Abe: Friends and family, we are gathered here to celebrate this recommitment of marriage between Rafael Hernandez and Samantha Brady-Hernandez.
Rafe: Sami... from the first time that I saw you... and held you at gunpoint...
Rafe: I knew you were the one for me. A year ago when we exchanged our vows for the first time... I promised to love you and cherish you for the rest of my life. I meant what I said. A lot's happened in that year... a lot.
Rafe: And we're better and stronger for it. And I'm better because I have you. You're my heart. You're my everything. And I promise to spend the rest of my life making you happy, because you make my life worth living. I love you, Samantha Brady-Hernandez.
Sami: Rafe Hernandez... you are truly my better half.
Sami: I don't make a lot of smart decisions, but the best decision I've ever made in my entire life is marrying you. You make me a better wife... a better mother. You make me a better person. And I'm going to be that person. I'm gonna be that person forever. And I'm going to be loyal and devoted and honest, and I'm going to honor you and respect you. I promise to spend the rest of my life... loving you. I'm the luckiest woman in the entire world to be married to you. And I love you so much.
Abe: Sami and Rafe asked to be married here in the square to honor tom and Alice Horton... an inspiration to us all. I ask that you remember to continue to cherish and respect each other as individuals. As tom and Alice always taught us... live each day and love... in good times and in bad. Now... it is my great pleasure to reintroduce to you Mr. And Mrs. Rafael Hernandez. Now you may seal this bargain with a kiss. [Laughs]
[Cheers and applause]
[O little town of Bethlehem plays]
Marlena: I've got everything that my heart can bear right now.
Rafe: Well, are you worried about something? It's about EJ, isn't it?
Bo: I don't believe this.
