Madison: I have incredible news to share with all of you in our satellite offices. Thanks to the phenomenal success of our new men's line, we are expecting a revenue increase of 10% by the end of the first quarter of next year. So that is quite a way to ring in 2012. Just want to say thank you to all of you for your very, very hard work. I look forward to working with each and every one of you in the new year as we continue to make Mad World Cosmetics a force to be reckoned with in the cosmetics world.
Madison: So what'd you think?
Brady: What did I think? Um... I think the numbers on the men's line are beyond anything I anticipated.
Madison: Well, thank you.
Brady: I'd swear you had a crystal ball stashed away in here somewhere.
Madison: [Chuckles] I guess you made a good decision when you decided to buy my company.
Brady: Yeah, it's the best decision I've ever made.
Sami: Hey, you coming home?
Rafe: Sorry, no. Actually... mm... Carrie and I are working on something for John. I'm at the pub right now picking up some food to take back to your mom's.
Sami: You're paying, aren't you?
Rafe: Yeah, I just--I just want to do something nice for your family.
Sami: You know, I was just paying the bills online, and, Rafe, we have, like, $62 in our account. You know, Allie needs a new pair of shoes, and Johnny just ripped a hole in his jeans, and we are gonna have to pay for all those Christmas gifts next month.
Rafe: Yeah, don't worry. Things are gonna turn around soon.
Sami: Yeah, and, in the meantime, if any kid loses a tooth, we're gonna have to shove it back in there because the tooth fairy tapped out.
Rafe: [Chuckles] Yeah, well, since you're concerned, maybe we should cancel our vow renewal ceremony.
Sami: Well, Rafe, it's-- that's really important to me, and, I mean, we're not having a reception or anything. It's not like it's going to cost us anything.
Rafe: Well, good. 'Cause I don't want to cancel it either. I just--I don't want you to be worried. Now I promise you, I'm gonna step up my job search right after the holidays.
Sami: Well, you would certainly have more time to look for a job if you weren't working for free on this case.
Rafe: Sami, I'm trying to help your family.
[Knock at door]
Sami: Uh, I'm sorry. I have to go. There's someone at the door.
Rafe: Just hold on a second.
Sami: Rafe, look, I'm sorry. I know you're trying to help my family. I'm just stressed out 'cause of the holidays and the bills.
Rafe: Like I said, don't worry about it. Everything's gonna be fine.
[Knock at door]
Sami: I'll try to keep the faith. I love you.
Rafe: I love you too.
Sami: I should have known you'd have an obnoxious knock. What do you want?
Kate: Santa's come for you early this year, Sami. I'm here to change your life.
Marlena: I found you some more files, you lucky girl, you.
Carrie: Lucky me. No, it's helpful, thank you. Oh, boy. I cannot believe John wants to liquidate everything he owns, including Basic Black, to pay back all this pension money.
Marlena: That's my husband. Compassionate, noble, and generous to a fault.
Carrie: Especially since he didn't do anything wrong. He's innocent.
Marlena: I know. Makes me sick to think of him sitting in jail when Stefano should be there rotting away. He's the one responsible for all this.
Carrie: I wish we would hear from Bo and Hope. I thought--I thought we would have heard something by now.
Marlena: I can't imagine Stefano's gonna honor his I.O.U. To Alice. He's never been a man of integrity, has he?
Carrie: But Stefano owes this debt because Mrs. Horton helped save EJ's life. And you have always told me that family is everything to the DiMeras.
[Knock at door]
Marlena: Maybe that's Bo and Hope.
Carrie: Please let it be good news.
Marlena: Come in.
Marlena: Come in. Uh... how did it go with Stefano?
Bo: [Clears throat]
Marlena: Oh. He's refused to help, hasn't he?
Hope: Yes. And no.
Brady: You know, you really are the total package when it comes to business. You are. I mean, you're good at negotiating, you're good at numbers, but you're--you're creative as well. I don't run into too many executives that excel in both areas like this.
Madison: Are you crushing on me? Is that why you're filling my head with all of this? What, because we're sleeping together?
Brady: Excuse me, no. No. And I'd like to believe what's happening between us is a little more than just us sleeping together.
Madison: Okay. Dating. Are we dating? You know... you're just so full of labels, aren't you?
Brady: Labels? No. I'm a respectable guy, you know.
Madison: Yes, I do. I know.
Brady: I'm dead serious, though, about what I'm saying. I mean, considering where you came from, Madison, and what you've done all on your own is-- it's really amazing. It's beyond amazing what you've accomplished.
Madison: You know, someone once told me to dream big. He said if I didn't take extraordinary risks, I'd lead an ordinary life. And I'd say that's the key to my success.
Brady: Those are very, very wise words.
Madison: He was a wise man.
Brady: Who is he?
Brady: The guy. I mean, obviously he had a big impact on you. Who is he?
Sami: Santa? Really? You're more like the witch of Halloweens past.
Kate: Okay, I didn't come here to fight with you. I came here to change your life.
Sami: You say things like that, but what you mean is you're gonna put someone on death row for a murder they didn't commit.
Kate: You really know how to hold onto a grudge, don't you?
Sami: Kate, grudge is actually a step up. When I was married to Lucas, it was more like a serious death wish.
Kate: Yeah, well, you see, I thought we were getting along a little better since you let me help you take care of the kids. In fact, where are they? Because I want to see them after we talk.
Sami: They're actually with my grandmother right now, so maybe you should just get to the point. Why are you here?
Kate: Fine. I'm here to talk about Countess Wilhelmina.
Sami: What's there to talk about? I work for Mad World, the direct competition.
Kate: For now.
Sami: What do you mean by that?
Kate: I don't think I have to spell it out, do I?
Sami: Yes. Yes, you do. What did you mean by that?
Kate: Well, I think I made it perfectly clear before... but I'm offering you a job, Sami. I want you to come and work for me at Countess Wilhelmina.
Marlena: Okay, just tell me. What happened?
Bo: There was a lot of talking around the issues.
Hope: Basically, he stonewalled us.
Carrie: What did he say?
Bo: At first, he brought up, predictably, Hope's past with John.
Marlena: Yes, he always likes rubbing salt in an old wound, doesn't he?
Bo: Yeah, doesn't he. But then he said he couldn't help John, that the trouble he's in is beyond what the great and all-powerful Stefano DiMera could do to help.
Marlena: Well, he set him up, he could certainly get him off, couldn't he? Although Stefano never takes responsibility for his actions.
Carrie: Hope, if Stefano refused to help, why did you make it sound like things weren't quite so settled?
Hope: Because, as we were leaving, he said one more thing.
Hope: He looked me right in the eye and he said he's not sure he can access the information we want, that it requires...
Bo: Something more.
Hope: Something more. Exactly. And something that he doesn't have. Then he said that, "I don't-- oh, it's not the kind of thing you could turn on and off like a faucet."
Marlena: "Like a faucet." What does that mean?
Hope: I have absolutely no idea. But I--but I do thin, in Stefano's own twisted little way, he was actually trying to honor his promise to Gran.
Hope: I think he was giving me a clue to help John.
Madison: Oh, he was just this old colleague of mine that--he used to like to tell stories and give advice when he had one too many at happy hour. But not important, so tell me about you. I mean, what do you think is the secret to your success?
Brady: [Scoffs] I was born a Kiriakis, okay? Whoo. That was hard work.
Madison: No, come on, Brady. Your grandfather Victor would never put you in charge of this company if he didn't think you could handle it, so... the question is, did you always dream of taking over the family business?
Brady: No. No, not really. All of this kind of fell into my lap in a way, but, when I was a kid, I had other plans.
Madison: Like what?
Brady: I'm not gonna tell you, 'cause you're gonna laugh.
Madison: Oh, come on.
Brady: You'll laugh.
Madison: Seriously, you need to spill it. You're the one who started this. Brady, my little sister used to say she wanted to be a dancing teddy bear when she grew up. You're not gonna do better than that.
Brady: Dancing... okay, it's not that interesting. I wanted to be an astronaut. My grandfather got me a telescope when I was little, and I became obsessed with planets and stars.
Madison: That's so not what I would expect from you.
Brady: What, you didn't take me for the brainy type?
Madison: I didn't take you for the geeky type.
Brady: Thanks a lot for that. I appreciate that.
Madison: So did you want to fight aliens and make the universe safe for earthlings?
Brady: No, I-I wanted to find my mom.
Sami: You know, when you said that, I thought that's what you meant, and then I realized I must have misunderstood. Why would you want me to work for you? You hate me. And I hate you.
Kate: Okay, then, have a seat. Smart businesspeople do not let personal malice affect their decisions. And I am as smart as they come. And, despite our differences, you are a talented and savvy businesswoman.
Sami: You said that with a straight face. You're getting better, Kate. You should keep up that practice.
Kate: I can see this isn't going to be easy. But, trust me, despite you making it very difficult for me, I am sincere. I want you to be part of my team as an executive.
Sami: You lost me at the "trust me." Look, I can see what you're doing, Kate. You want me to burn my bridges with Madison so that, the second I set foot at Countess w, you're gonna fire my ass.
Kate: Why would I do that?
Sami: So that I end up without a job.
Kate: Sami, do you really think I'm that evil?
Sami: That's a rhetorical question, right? I mean, you don't really expect me to answer that.
Kate: Okay. Why don't we just put your personal feelings aside for a moment and look at this objectively? Can we do that?
Sami: [Clears throat]
Kate: Do you really think I'd want my grandchildren, my husband's grandchildren to be out on the street?
Sami: No, of course not. This is part of your plan to help EJ and Lucas get custody of my children.
Kate: Nobody wants to take your children away from you. I just want the best people working for me. I want my company to be even more successful than it already is. I want to be top in the field. [Sighs] And, as hard as this is to believe for me too, I think you are the person to help me do that.
Rafe: Cryptic clue that no one can figure out. Thank you, Stefano.
Marlena: I'm not even sure Stefano tried to honor his commitment to Alice.
Bo: No, no, no, like we've said, he's got his own unique code of honor, and, yeah, he didn't want to help us, but he feels obligated to Mrs. H, because she saved little EJ's life.
Rafe: Yeah, maybe he could have made it a little more clear.
Hope: Come on. Seriously? We're talking about Stefano DiMera here. Nothing involving Stefano is ever easy. What, he enjoys playing his games too much. We all know that.
Bo: Yeah, well, we'll play this game right along with him. I don't care how difficult it is, we'll figure this damn thing out.
Marlena: Yes, we will. When that happens, John's going to be a free man.
Brady: You see, when I was a kid, everyone used to talk about how my mother went--went up to heaven. You know, she was looking down on all of us. My dad even showed me a star that he had named for her.
Marlena: I'm sorry that you never got to know your mom.
Brady: Yeah, me too.
Marlena: Do you remember anything about her?
Brady: I-I--you know, I used to think I did. I could see her face. I could see her smile. But, as I got older, I realized that I was--I was three months old when she died. So there's no way that I could have remembered.
Brady: So I used to stare up in the sky, and I used to talk to her. I just wanted to see her. So I thought if I was an astronaut, I could get in my spaceship and I could fly up to space and I would find her. You know. And, when I found her, I would say, "mom, hey. I want you home. I need you. Come back." I thought maybe it might work, you know. But I can't believe I'm in my office talking to you about this right now.
Madison: I'm so glad that you did.
Brady: No. [Chuckles]
Madison: [Sighs] Now I feel really bad for calling you a geek.
Brady: [Chuckles] It's okay.
Kate: No one knows you better than me. I have seen close-hand what a hard worker you are, how determined you are. You will fight tooth and nail to accomplish your goals, won't you, Sami?
Sami: Yes. I will, but usually my goals are exactly the opposite of yours.
Kate: To our mutual regret, right? That's why I want you working for me, not for the competition. Even if you are you.
Sami: Man, you are obsessed with Mad World, aren't you? You really think Madison's gonna bury you.
Kate: I could care less. I could care less about Madison because I'm going to bury that woman and her second-rate company, with or without you.
Sami: Sorry, Kate. It's gonna have to be without me. There is just no way that I'm going to give up a steady job to work with someone I can't stand and don't trust.
Kate: I know you can't pay your bills. What if I sweeten the deal? Rafe's not working, right? How about I double that salary you're making?
Sami: Are you serious?
Kate: I'm dead serious.
Sami: Okay, Kate, Kate, what is going on here?
Marlena: Oh, come on. Stefano's a powerful man. He can access anything that he wants to.
Rafe: Yeah, that's for sure. In my experience, there's nothing the man can't get without the three Bs.
Carrie: The three Bs?
Rafe: Buying, bribing, blackmailing.
Carrie: Oh, of course.
Marlena: Let's say that Stefano's telling the truth. What could he mean when he said that he can't access the information that we need?
Bo: Hold on, hold on. I got a feeling we're looking at this wrong. Maybe what he's talking about isn't something that he can't access himself.
Hope: I see where you're going. Maybe it's John.
Hope: Who didn't have access to something.
Carrie: Oh, my God. I think I know.
Brady: That's it. Best Christmas present my grandfather ever gave me.
Madison: It's not exactly what I was expecting.
Brady: I know. It's big, but my grandfather wasn't going to get some rinky-dink toy for me. He--he wanted me to see as far as I could into the sky, and, oh, God, we spent hours talking about stars and looking through this thing.
Madison: Do you know all the constellations and stuff?
Brady: I know a few. I'm a little rusty.
Madison: Would you show 'em to me?
Brady: Are you sure? That's kind of nerdy. I mean, really.
Madison: Okay, I have a confession to make.
Brady: Oh, can't wait to hear this.
Madison: When I was in high school, I was the girl who always went for the guy with the pocket protector.
Brady: [Laughs] [Nerdy] Well, in that case, let's look in the microscope. [Normal] Okay. Oh, okay. All right. Look through there. Careful. See that cluster that looks like a 'y'?
Madison: Huh. Yeah. Yeah, I see it.
Brady: Okay, that's Perseus.
Brady: He was a celebrated hero who fell in love with the beautiful Andromeda and rescued her from a sea monster.
Brady: They fell in love, they got married, and, when they died, they were placed up in the heavens together for all eternity.
Madison: I like that story.
Brady: It's a good story. Maybe I should start slaying sea dragons and stuff like that.
Madison: Mm. Why don't you show me something else?
Brady: What do you want to see? [Laughs] All right, hold on. All right. Oh, that's good. Okay. Take a look. Go ahead. See the really bright star up in the left-hand corner of the lens?
Brady: It's the brightest star?
Madison: Mm-hmm. I see it.
Brady: That's--that's part of Andromeda. And that's the star that I thought was my mother. That's the star that my grandfather told me that's where my mother was. And every night since then, I would come down here and I would talk to her.
Madison: I'm really touched that you're sharing this with me, Brady.
Brady: I'll admit, I don't usually tell people these kinds of things, right, but... it's easy with you.
Brady: I don't know. I don't know if it's because you shared with me what you did, but I don't want to hide anything from you. I have nothing to hide from you.
Kate: Look, I'm being honest with you. I don't have an agenda.
Sami: Kate, you always have an agenda. EJ's behind this, isn't he?
Kate: Why would you say that?
Sami: Because EJ gave you funding for Countess W. And this is just another attempt of his to get me under his thumb.
Kate: No, I mean, he doesn't even know about this. This was my idea.
Sami: Why would I believe anything that you say? Kate, every time EJ gets near me he ruins my life.
Kate: Now, Sami, I just thought because of that horrible ordeal that you went through with Johnny that the two of you had put things behind you.
Sami: Why would you think that? Did he say something to you?
Kate: No, s--no. No, I simply thought that you made things better between the two of you so you could search for your son, Sami, but... [Sighs] Why are you freaking out like this?
Carrie: I think Stefano is saying in order to prove John is innocent, we need to show that there was something John didn't have access to in order to commit the crime.
Rafe: Like what?
Carrie: Like, uh... well, the most obvious thing would be the company money or bank accounts. If he didn't, he couldn't have made the transfers.
Bo: But we've already looked into all that. All the fraudulent transactions were traced back to John's smart phone or his personal computer.
Rafe: Okay, now, what is it? All right, Stefano--he said, "they require something more, something I don't have," right?
Rafe: What about John? Was there ever a time he didn't have access to passwords? I know he was recovering from being paralyzed. Was there a time he was out of the loop in terms of running things?
Marlena: Well, the password changed every day because of security. And I'm sure that if John had had a day when he didn't have the password, he would've let us know that already.
Hope: It's definitely worth looking into, but you know what, I really still feel that we are missing--we're--we're missing the big clue.
Carrie: "It's not the kind of thing you can turn on or off like a faucet."
Hope: Faucet. Faucet, what... what does that mean? Faucet... a faucet, faucet...
Rafe: Just write down everything that comes to mind.
Bo: Water, on/off, drip... you're such a drip.
Marlena: Ooh, well, I think we'd better load in plenty of caffeine. It's going to be a long night.
Carrie: No kidding. [Sighs]
Marlena: I know I've said this before, but I'm so grateful for your help.
Carrie: It's the least I could do after everything you and John have done for me.
Marlena: Oh, come on, now.
Carrie: [Scoffs] You did all the hard work, Marlena. You raised me. I mean, if it weren't for you, who knows what would've happened to me with my mom gallivanting around Europe, too busy to be tied down by a daughter?
Marlena: Honey, you know that Anna loves you.
Carrie: [Sighs] I do. But you've always been a mother to me. Even though my mom and I are closer now, when I'm in trouble or I need advice, it's you that I call. You're the first voice I want to hear.
Marlena: I've always felt like you're my daughter. And I am so proud of the woman that you have become.
Carrie: That was easy. I couldn't have asked for a better role model.
Marlena: You're sweet to say that.
Carrie: I mean it.
Marlena: I know you do. I know, I j-- gosh, I wish Sami felt the same way.
Carrie: I know things have been strained with you two since you and John came back. You know deep down Sami really loves you.
Marlena: I suppose. Just seems like every time the worst is behind us, something happens, something blows up in our faces. I...
Carrie: You two will get there one day.
Marlena: I really hope so. And I'm so glad the two of you are back together. That time when you were at odds, fighting over the same man, that was so rough. I'm glad those days are behind us.
Carrie: Me too.
Marlena: Mm. Oh, silverware.
Madison: Thank you.
Brady: You're welcome.
Madison: So, since you've shared something really personal with me, would you mind if I did the same?
Brady: Please do.
Madison: Um, when I was younger, I had my own, little astronomy thing going on. I mean, it wasn't really astronomy, it was more like astrology.
Brady: Are you kid--you're kidding me right now.
Madison: No. It wasn't scientific and technical like you, but... I used to wish on the first star in the sky. You know that saying, "star light, star bright..."
Both: "First star I see tonight."
Brady: Of course. What was your wish?
Madison: That my father would come back. I was so angry with him for leaving, but I still wished that, you know, he would come back and our family would be back the way it was. When my mom was happy, and I could just be a kid.
Brady: Yeah, I'm sorry.
Madison: No, it's--
Madison: I'm an--I'm-- I'm a grownup, and I know that if he didn't want to be there, it was better that he wasn't. But back then, my mom had to work so hard just so that we could eat, and sometimes we couldn't.
Brady: And you probably had to take care of everything, right? Your siblings when your mom got sick. You'd have to take care of her too, right?
Brady: She was very lucky to have you.
Madison: [Laughs] I don't know about that.
Brady: Your wish never came true, did it?
Brady: God, we were two sad kids, Madison, huh?
Madison: [Laughs] I guess so.
Brady: I am sorry that life was hard on you.
Madison: Don't be, 'cause it made me who I am.
Brady: Sure did. Who you are is pretty damn wonderful.
Sami: Are you kidding me? Of course I'm freaking out. Because it's EJ, because I tense up every time I hear his name. I just never know what he's gonna do to me to hurt me or the kids.
Kate: Hey. Calm down, okay? You come to work for me at Countess Wilhelmina, I promise you you will have no contact with EJ.
Sami: Okay. But why would you want me to?
Kate: Sami, I have no agenda here. I think you're a great executive, and I want to take advantage of that.
Sami: Okay. Then let's say for the sake of argument that I believe that. What's in it for me?
Kate: Besides the double salary?
Sami: Well, I work at Mad World for more than just money. I actually really like what I do.
Kate: Oh, really? Really? You like working for Madison? Hmm... Madison, who has absolutely no respect for you. Madison, who treats you like-- let's see, how can I put this delicately? Treats you like crap. Who's carrying on with Brady? Who knows how messy this is gonna get for you?
Sami: We have worked together twice before, and both times it turned to crap, so why should this be any different?
Kate: Maybe because you're not blackmailing me into hiring you.
Sami: [Laughs] Sorry I asked.
Kate: You know, Sami, I'd like to believe that the two of us have changed since then, that we both have a mutual, begrudging respect for each other.
Sami: Do we?
Kate: Well, I mean, you let me help you out the other day. I took care of the kids, and you smoothed things over with Madison. Right?
Sami: Yes. And the children did come back in one piece, even if I was peeling them off the ceiling from a sugar rush.
Kate: I love my grandchildren with all my heart. I struggle too. Raising Billy, and Austin, and Lucas, and man... [Sighs] I know how difficult it can be for the kids. And I want to see my grandchildren happy and well-fed. And I also want to have a really good excuse to see them as often as I possibly can. So what do you say? Will you take the job?
Brady: Did you ever blame yourself for your father leaving?
Madison: Sure. All the time. I thought, you know, I must've done something to disappoint him.
Brady: Did you ever talk to your mom or your siblings about that?
Madison: No. I always kept my sad, little questions to myself. You know. Why didn't he love me? Why did he choose that other woman over my family and me?
Brady: I still wonder the same thing about my dad. He had another family before he met my mom, and he went back to them. And I was like, what... you chose them over me. I mean, it's not the same situation as yours, but dammit, I mean, it felt--
Madison: It hurts.
Brady: Yeah, it hurts really badly.
Madison: Do you know what I think? I think considering the really sadly dysfunctional upbringings we both had, it's kind of like a Christmas miracle that we turned out to be sane, rational, wonderful people.
Brady: [Chuckles] Here's to being a sane, rational, and wonderful person, right along with you. [Smooches]
Sami: Kate... I have been burned by you too many times. I'm just not willing to take the risk.
Kate: You need to put your feelings about me to the side. And to recognize that this is an amazing opportunity, not just for you and your career, but for your family and your marriage.
Sami: My marriage?
Kate: Money problems are the leading cause of divorce. It's about the checkbook, Sami, not just about what goes on in the bedroom.
Sami: I guess that's helped you in your marriage to Stefano, hasn't it? Look, my marriage to Rafe is solid. It is. In fact, we're renewing our vows on Christmas eve.
Kate: Okay. I'm not saying that your marriage isn't strong, I'm just saying a lack of funds can strain the relationship. But think about your kids. You have four mouths to feed now. I mean, that bump in salary is gonna go a long way. Sami, you need to take this job. Don't let your stubbornness get in the way of your future and your family.
Hope: No, I--I'm--I'm really starting to wonder here if Stefano's playing with us.
Rafe: Yeah, I got my doubts about Stefano's willingness to help John. Debt or no debt.
Hope: He probably purposely gave us a hint so vague we'll never get it. Well, of course, then he could tell himself he tried to exonerate John and fulfilled his debt to Gran.
Bo: No, no, we cannot give up. We're one piece of this puzzle from solving the whole thing. Once we get that one piece, everything will fall into place. I know it.
Hope: What could it be?
Bo: [Groans] What else would John need besides a password to access these pension funds? You know, and make these illegal transactions? Something that, if he didn't have, it would be impossible for him to get into the funds.
Rafe: And, like a faucet, something you could turn on or off.
Hope: All right. Let's--let's walk through the process, okay? Go online to the Basic Black website and see if we've missed anything, okay, guys?
Rafe: That's it!
Rafe: That's it. That's the one thing that he would need to make all those transactions. The internet.
Madison: [Idly humming]
Brady: Um, I have an idea. Why don't we go upstairs? [Smooches] Come on.
Brady: It's right up there.
Madison: No, I have another idea.
Brady: Better than going upstairs? I can't wait to hear it. What?
Madison: I... gimme your hands.
Brady: Where are we going?
Madison: I want to--I want to go--I want to go for a walk with you, outside, under the stars. Just--just you and me. I really kind of need you to, I don't know, impress me with your sexy knowledge of the universe.
Brady: I can't believe you just said that. So all you want is the moon and the stars, is that all you need, Madison?
Madison: No. And you by my side.
Brady: Let's take a walk, then. [Chuckles] Come on. Whoa. I'm gonna--I'm gonna get our coats. Gotta get our coats. God, you're in the mood to walk, aren't you?
Kate: You know, being indecisive really doesn't become you. Do you want to take this job or not?
Sami: Kate, I am not gonna make a decision this important so quickly. Okay? I'm just not. Especially given our twisted history. I'll think about it. All right, now you have to go, 'cause I have holiday shopping I have to do, and I have to pick up the kids.
Madison: Fine. I'll go. But you will give this offer serious thought.
Sami: Yes. I will seriously think about it. But that's all I'm promising.
Madison: And I expect that you will not share our little conversation with anyone?
Sami: I have no reason to.
Madison: Sami, this is a fabulous offer. Don't let it pass by. Let me give you a little holiday advice.
Sami: Okay, what's that?
Madison: Take the cookies when they're passed. They may not come back later.
Rafe: And what if the internet was down in John's area when he was supposedly making all these transactions?
Bo: He couldn't tap into the funds if he couldn't open the pipeline.
Hope: And Stefano'd make it his business to know that.
Bo: So we gotta contact his internet provider, compare the transaction times and dates with the times that the internet was out.
Carrie: Okay, if the internet servers were down, couldn't John have used a cell carrier to make those transactions?
Rafe: You're right. We're gonna have to check and see if the cell phone towers were down too.
Marlena: Isn't this a bit far-fetched? I mean, are you thinking that the cell towers and the internet servers were down the same time?
Rafe: It does require a certain perfect storm, you're right, but I think that that's exactly what Stefano was getting at.
Carrie: What if John didn't have access to the internet the day those transactions were made? That would be a huge break in the case.
Marlena: Whoa. That would be incredible.
Carrie: It would mean all of John's records were falsified, and all the FBI records would be thrown out of court.
Rafe: Well, you combine that with the doctored photo, the clinic witness--I mean, now we could finally prove that he was deliberately being set up.
Marlena: This could be it. We could finally prove John's innocence. [Sighs]
On the next "Days of Our Lives" --
Maggie: Daniel, you wouldn't take yourself out of surgical rotation unless something is wrong.
Chad: Don't you think we ought to talk about what happened?
Hope: Who are you calling?
Rafe: My buddy at Interpol. Could be John's best chance.
