[Knock at door]
Lexie: Jennifer, hi, honey.
Jennifer: Abe, how are you?
Lexie: Well, we just came by to see how you're doing.
Jennifer: Um... I-I'm good. You know, it's so hard to believe my little girl was taken hostage. That's--
Jennifer: It's something that you read about, not live through firsthand.
Abe: Is Abigail doing okay?
Jennifer: She's good. She's still asleep right now.
Abe: I'm just glad no one was hurt.
Lexie: Mm-hmm, yeah, yeah. Um, did you see the morning news?
Jennifer: Oh, yes, Lexie. Besides voters feeling ripped off by John Black, they're now afraid that organized crime is coming into Salem.
Abe: Roman's got the force on high alert.
Jennifer: All right, well, even so, I do think it's a great campaign strategy to address the whole organized crime issue.
Abe: I agree.
Jennifer: I also think that it's a really good time to expose EJ's background to the voters.
Abe: No. No way. I meant it when I said I would not play dirty to win reelection.
Lexie: Abe's right. We're above that. Even if Nicole and my brother aren't.
Nicole: Hi. [Laughs]
EJ: I've been watching you sleep for the longest time.
Nicole: You have?
EJ: Mm-hmm. I've been wondering what dreams you're having behind that beautiful face of yours. Whether or not I was in them.
Nicole: Well, if I was having sweet dreams, you were definitely in them, front and center. Hm.
EJ: I love you. That's why I woke you. To tell you that I love you.
Nicole: I love you, too.
Sami: Oh, hey, Madison. Let the record show that I was on time this morning, despite the fact that we were back late last night from our trip and that my son was involved in busting an Internet gambling ring.
Madison: Listen, let the record show this one time, I really would've been okay with you being late. How's Will? Is he okay?
Sami: Oh, yeah, he's great. He's exhausted but very glad that no one ended up getting hurt. I have your report that you wanted.
Madison: Thank you. But this is... Brady's research on retail showrooms. Is he not in today?
Sami: Yeah. Yeah, he's working in his office.
Sami: Um, listen, I have to get to the meeting with Anthony Morrison. Anything else you need before I go?
Madison: Uh, wha--no. I'm--I'm fine. Yeah, just-- I am really counting on you to seal the deal with Morrison. It's very important that you not--
Sami: Screw this up. I won't. I promise.
Brady: Yeah. She is?
Brady: Never mind. Well, since you barged in without an appointment, I'll take you, but next time, please schedule one.
Madison: This is how it's gonna be?
Brady: Ahem. No offense, Madison, but Mad World Cosmetics is a small part of Titan. If you want face time with the CEO, you need to do what the other execs do.
Madison: This isn't a deli counter. I'm not gonna take a number and stand in line. Why did you give Sami this file to give to me?
Brady: Sami Brady is your junior executive, and you work closely with her.
Madison: You know what I mean.
Brady: You know, everything that I needed to say to you is actually in this file. So kindly shut the door on your way out.
Kate: Sami. Wait, I just, uh-- I just read about what happened last night. How's Will? Is he okay?
Sami: Oh, um, he's exhausted, but he's okay. He was sleeping when I left.
Kate: Stefano and I had absolutely no idea what was going on. What happened?
Sami: Right, I guess they didn't want to tell anyone, Rafe said, because of the, um, hostages.
Kate: If Stefano had known that Chad was in danger, he--
Sami: He would've done something stupid. Just like Victor did. Rafe said Victor's man almost ruined everything.
Kate: You keep on mentioning Rafe. You weren't there when all of this played out?
Sami: No. No, I wasn't there. I was actually on a last-minute trip. Madison.
Kate: Ah. So how did that go, anyway?
Sami: It's going great. Things with Madison are great since I told her off at your suggestion. So I guess that means I owe you a thank-you.
Kate: Well, I would say that I was glad to help, but that would imply a certain level of caring, so--
Sami: Which, of course, yeah, we wouldn't want. Anyway, I would love to stay here and trade barbs with you like vultures picking over road kill, but I don't have time. I have a meeting to get to. See ya later.
Kate: Meeting with Anthony Morrison? 'Cause, you know, he's a really tough nut to crack.
Sami: How did you know that?
Kate: Oh, come on, Sami. I know about everything that's going on. Especially when it comes to the competition.
[Cell phone rings]
Kate: Oh, my phone.
Kate: Chris, what is it? What do you mean, your bronzer turns you orange? Uh-- honey, I don't care if you look like a pumpkin. I need you to come in to the office now.
Sami: Betsy. Hey, everybody. What are you doing here?
Betsy: My mom was rushed to the hospital.
Sami: Oh, my gosh, is she okay?
Betsy: I don't know. I was bringing the kids to Titan 'cause I didn't know what else to do. I'm glad I ran into you.
Sami: No, what about Rafe? I can't watch them. Did you call Rafe?
Betsy: Yeah, it went straight to voicemail.
Sami: Oh, he's at the police station giving a statement.
Betsy: I have to go.
Sami: [Stammers] Hey. Wow, okay. We have to come up with a new plan, everybody. I can't just have you all playing in the streets, right, while I have my meeting. If I mess this up, Madison's gonna kill me.
Abe: Jennifer... if we play the DiMera card, Nicole is just gonna make a fuss that I'm married to Stefano's daughter, and our son is Stefano's grandson, and I don't want my family dragged into this.
Jennifer: No, Abe, you-- you say dragged, and I say spotlighted. Look at Lexie. She is an incredible wife. She's a great mother. She's a very respected doctor.
Abe: Your point?
Jennifer: My point is that there are DiMeras like Lexie and Chad who make a wonderful, positive contribution to this community. Okay? And then there's EJ. and I think that he should be exposed as the crook that he is in designer clothes, Abe.
Abe: Look, Jennifer, I know where you're coming from. And I appreciate your willingness to go the distance for me. But the answer is still no.
Lexie: Jennifer, listen. Listen. I-I know--I know what you're feeling. I was feeling the same way. You're feeling frustrated. Okay? But... I know firsthand that there is nothing my family isn't willing to do to win this election, okay? But in the end, my husband will win because of who he is, the fact that he would never, ever compromise his values. Listen, we took the high road coming in here. We're gonna stay on it straight through Election Day.
Jennifer: All right, okay. We'll stay on a positive note, and there is a lot of positive.
Lexie: Yes. Yes. Abe is giving his speech at the Children's Charity luncheon today.
Jennifer: Yes, that's good.
Jennifer: I mean, that will generate a lot of press.
Lexie: Mm-hmm, and honey, when you announce your brilliant fundraising project for the Children's Recreation Center, the voters are gonna be saying, "EJ who?"
EJ: Agh! [Laughs] Oh.
Nicole: Oh, yeah.
EJ: All right. My vote--
EJ: We stay in bed all day.
Nicole: Yummy. As tempting as that sounds-- and believe me, that does sound tempting-- you are the guest speaker at the Children's Charity luncheon.
EJ: I'm not. That is not on my schedule today.
Nicole: Oops. I must've forgotten to put it in your calendar.
EJ: You know, it's been a very long time since you've made a mistake.
Nicole: Okay. I didn't make a mistake.
EJ: Mm. Mm-hmm.
Nicole: I was just waiting to tell you until I had all my ducks in a nice, neat little row.
EJ: Okay, you're up to something.
EJ: Yes. Come on.
EJ: Tell me.
Nicole: Well, you know that the Children's Charity is Abe Carver's pet project. Right? So I'm sure he will be delighted to learn that the companies that, you know, I approached that work with DiMera Enterprises, they just decided to donate gobs of money to help--
EJ: They just decided.
Nicole: Build the new Children's Rec Center.
EJ: You mean you strong-armed the companies to donate money--
Nicole: Did not. No. I just reminded them that the charity ran out of money during Abe's anti-business tenure.
EJ: Oh, he's gonna love that.
Nicole: Yeah, exactly. And, uh, I told them that if you become mayor, you will remember who helped fund the rec center, not to mention the afterschool program for kids.
EJ: Absolutely. Can't forget the kids, can we?
Nicole: Nope, can't forget the kids.
EJ: Why don't you and I take a shower... and I'll give you a proper standing ovation?
Nicole: [Chuckles] Wow. You go ahead. I have a loose end to tie up.
Nicole: Mm-hmm. [Laughs]
EJ: It's your loss. You know, to say that Abe will be surprised I think is somewhat of an understatement.
Nicole: Oh, EJ, you have no idea.
Jennifer: You know what? No, you're right. You're right. There is no way that EJ can top your announcement today.
Abe: Today the tide turns in our favor.
Abe: You know, uh, give me a few minutes to go over my speech, huh?
Lexie: Oh, Jennifer.
Lexie: [Quietly] Listen. Um, I understand why you want Abe to be more aggressive against EJ, okay? My little brother has no morals, no scruples, no-- [Groans] No decency. I know, I know. But there is nothing you or I or even EJ can do to make Abe run a negative campaign.
Jennifer: I understand that. I just don't want Abe to be naive, that's all.
Lexie: No, he's not being naive, believe me, okay? He's just being true to who he is. It's one of the reasons I love him. It's also the reason I believe that people will vote for him.
Abe: [Chuckling] Oh, this is a great speech. You know, you took everything I wanted to say, and you just made it better.
Lexie: Oh, my goodness, Abe has rehearsed that speech so many times. I even think that I could give it at this point.
Jennifer: Good. All right, well, let's go. We should really get going.
[Cell phone rings]
Jennifer: Oh, well, excuse me for one second.
Jennifer: Hello? Yes. Uh, okay, where? Yeah, we'll be there. Thank you. This is so strange. That was the assistant for the charity event. I guess there's some plumbing problem at the inn, so the entire luncheon was just moved to the new hotel at Horton square.
Abe: Oh. That sounds perfect.
Sami: Hey! Hey, Grandma, don't worry about it. Have fun at the quilting bee. It'll be great. I'll find someone else. I'll get them-- oh! I gotcha.
Sami: Okay. You know what? I don't know what I'm gonna do. Hey, here. Sit on Santa's chair. Or I'm gonna tell him you weren't listening to me. Okay. [Groans]
Johnny: [Laughs breathlessly]
Sami: Oh, what am I gonna do? Come here, sweetie. Everybody come here. [Sighs]
Kate: So, uh, what happened here? The babysitter dropped the kids off and then ran?
Sami: Well, she had to. Hey, let's check out the tree for a second, everybody. Come on.
Sami: Um, you know what? Her mom ended up in the hospital. So I'm here figuring out how to make sure that Madison doesn't kill me and my kids end up orphans.
Kate: Oh. Well, every cloud has a silver lining.
Sami: Ha, ha, ha. You know, I wouldn't have put it past you to have done something to Betsy's mother to make her end up in the hospital so that this would all happen, and I would lose my job.
Kate: Wow, I wish I were that devious. Okay, I am that devious. But I can't take credit for this. Have you forgotten already? If it weren't for me, you would've been fired.
Sami: Oh, well, the jury's still out on that one, 'cause if I screw up this meeting, then I am--
Kate: Well, then your fledgling career is over.
Sami: Right. So I have to find out how to resolve this mess with Morrison, which is exactly what I'm about to do. I'm gonna call my mother. Oh, she's dealing with John. My sister is, too, so that's--
Kate: Okay, Sami, stop, stop. Stop, okay? Maybe I can help.
Brady: Oh, hey, you're still here.
Madison: Why are you ignoring me?
Brady: I'm not ignoring you, Madison--I'm working.
Madison: You don't want to talk to me.
Brady: If that was my plan, it's obviously not working.
Madison: I don't blame you for being upset.
Brady: I'm not upset. Upset would imply that I care, okay? You told me that we were just going to be working together, and that's all it's gonna be. That's fine.
Madison: You're hurt because of what happened--what didn't happen between us, okay? I get it. Brady, I'm sorry. I hate myself for what I did.
Brady: Don't hate yourself. There's no reason to, okay? Just don't give it or us another thought, okay? Look, you were right. We shouldn't have tried to mix business with pleasure. It was a mistake.
Madison: What if I really, really, really want to?
Brady: I'm gonna need a neck brace from all the whiplash you've given to me. Okay, tell you what. Why don't you tell me how much you want me, how much you want to be with me? Because I know within five seconds, you are gonna change your mind. That's what you do.
Madison: There's a reason why I keep changing my mind when it comes to you.
Brady: Please hold all my calls. I'm listening. I would like you to tell me why you're making it so damn hard to care about you.
Abe: Jennifer. Are you sure you heard the assistant correctly?
Lexie: We were just at the hotel. Apparently, they aren't hosting a luncheon.
Jennifer: I called my media contacts. They didn't know about the change, either, so I have a call in to the charity's director. We're gonna get this all figured out so you don't miss your chance to speak.
EJ: You're no doubt wondering, "what does a rich guy know about helping poor kids? Has he ever seen poor children? Does he know where they come from? Does he know what they look like? Is he just here... to get a few votes?" I-I'm sorry. Would you mind? Please. If you could all just put the cameras down. Thank you. Uh, I'm sorry. Could you put those down? In fact, uh, gentlemen, would you mind leaving with the video-- thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Ahem. Look.
EJ: I'm not here... as a politician, as a candidate. I'm here as a concerned citizen. And I get it. Times have been really tough. It's been a struggle, right? To raise the money that you need for this rec center and for the afterschool facilities. Well, I'm here to tell you that that struggle is over. Myself and my staff have contacted some of the companies that we're associated with, and we have raised enough money to pay for the rec center and the afterschool facilities. Your children are going to have everything that they need for a really long time.
EJ: Thank you.
EJ: Please, no.
[Cheers and applause]
EJ: You're very kind.
[Loud cheers and applause]
Sami: So let me get this straight. You? You are offering to help me?
Kate: Why not?
Sami: Well, what's in it for you?
Kate: Excuse me. Those are my grandchildren, Sami.
Sami: You wouldn't know it.
Kate: Oh, thank you. That's so sweet of you. You know, I owe this youthful appearance to Countess Wilhelmina.
Sami: I didn't mean that. I meant that you haven't been exactly a part of their lives lately.
Kate: Well, and whose fault is that? Maybe if you and EJ could share a civil moment, that would be possible.
Kate: You know, and--and every time that I want to see Allie, you refuse because you're having a fight with Lucas or something.
Sami: It isn't about Lucas, and it's not about EJ. It's about Stefano.
Kate: Oh, God, not this again, please.
Sami: Hey, fine. You chose to marry him. You "love him", or whatever you wanna call it. I'm just telling you I hate the man for what he has done to me and my family. And that is why I say no when you want to watch the kids. There. I don't want them around him.
Kate: Well, why didn't you just say that in the first place? I mean, I don't have to see the kids only at the mansion. I could see them anywhere. I mean, I could've seen them here. I could've been here helping you.
Sami: Why are the hairs on the back of my neck standing up?
Kate: Why? Because you've always been a little paranoid. That's why. So do you want my help or not?
Sami: I'm thinking.
Kate: Thinking? What are you thinking about? Either I take care of the kids for you, or you're going to miss your meeting with Anthony Morrison. Now, what's it gonna be?
Madison: I don't mean to make things hard for us. Especially not for you.
Brady: Then why do you?
Madison: I'm just not used to letting people in, you know? To opening up. It's not easy for me.
Brady: Why did you do that the other night? Why did you shut me out? We were--we were about to make love, Madison, and you-- and you made me leave.
Madison: If I knew why I did that, I would tell you.
Brady: Is that seriously your answer?
Madison: Can I just--I just want to say I'm sorry. Can I just say I'm sorry?
Brady: No, no, no. I want the truth. I want to know what the problem is. And do we try to get past it or not?
Jennifer: Abe, no one-- no one at campaign headquarters knew that the luncheon was moved, either. I am so sorry.
Abe: It's not your fault.
Lexie: Oh, my God. Get this. "Mayoral candidate and philanthropist EJ DiMera gave a rousing speech today at the Children's Charity luncheon."
Jennifer: Wait a minute. How--how did he--
Lexie: "DiMera announced that he received funding from local businesses to underwrite the cost of the new Children's Recreation Center and afterschool program."
Abe: Damn it.
Jennifer: I knew it. As soon as I heard this luncheon was moved, I knew EJ and Nicole had something to do with this.
Lexie: Yeah, well, what do we do now? I mean, the charity must think we stood them up.
Abe: And EJ's waiting in the wings just ready to steal the spotlight. Oh.
[Cell phone rings]
Abe: Well, you know, I'll call the director and explain what happened.
Jennifer: Oh, you don't have to. He got to us first. Hello? Uh, yes. Uh, Mr.--Mr. Chairman, Abe was just about to call you. You see, we were told that the luncheon was moved. We had-- no, I-I am so sorry. It was not a misunderstanding. We were set up. If--if--
Nicole: Oh, they loved you. And a standing ovation. I am so happy for you.
EJ: Well, I was just lucky that Abe couldn't make it, and you managed to get me the job in his place.
Jennifer: It wasn't your good luck Abe wasn't able to speak. It was you playing dirty again.
EJ: Do me a favor, Jennifer. If you screw up your job, don't blame it on someone else.
Abe: She didn't screw up. And your fingerprints are all over it.
Nicole: I don't know what you're talking about.
Jennifer: You would do anything to get EJ elected again, even exploit innocent children. You are as evil as he is.
Sami: All right. Mary Poppins has not texted me back, so you can watch the kids while I have my meeting.
Kate: Ah, no one accepts an offer more graciously than you, Sami.
Sami: Hmm. Hey, guess what? Guess what? So here are the plans. Grandma Kate is going to watch you while I go to my meeting. Sound good?
Allie: Grandma Kate can buy us hot cocoa.
Johnny: And candy!
Sami: No, no, no. No candy. No, too much sugar, right? Right?
Kate: Mary Poppins had a spoonful to help the medicine go down.
Sami: Okay. Listen here. They are not having candy or soda or cocoa. And please don't buy them more presents. They have enough.
Kate: Can we have a bowl of gruel and a stick to play with?
Sami: I'm just telling you what you need to know, Kate.
Kate: You know, Sami, I raised children all by myself, and they turned out beautifully until you corrupted them.
Sami: Nice little subtle jab, thank you. All right, have fun. Big hugs. Come here. Oh, yeah. Have a great time with Grandma Kate. I love you. I'll be back in a little bit.
Kate: Yay! Okay, here we go. Oh, oh. Ah, yes, yes. Sit on my lap. This is so exciting. I'll tell you what, now. All three of you, can you make me a promise? Okay. I am going to buy you some hot chocolate and candy if you promise not to tell your mom. What do you say?
Madison: I want us to...
Brady: To what?
Madison: [Sighs] I want us to not be like this. I want us to get past this. But I-I don't know how.
Brady: [Sighs] You could start by not pulling back every time we get close.
Madison: I... tried so hard to figure out why I do that. Why I push people away when they get close to me.
Madison: I don't know. I can tell you this much. I have spent so much time... building a name for my company, for Mad World Cosmetics, that when it comes to personal relationships, I've just never had a problem ending them. They were never serious.
Brady: For who? For you or for the guys you dumped?
Madison: For me. I don't feel that way about you.
Brady: Madison. Do you want me or not?
Madison: What do you think?
Jennifer: To use needy children to win votes--it doesn't get any lower than that. That is shameless and disgusting.
EJ: Yes, helping needy children is shameless and disgusting.
Lexie: EJ, how could you just take Abe's place like that? You know he's been involved in the children's charities for years.
EJ: Alexandra, come on. It's not like he's the only person who's allowed to speak to these people, all right? It's absurd. And anyway, he didn't turn up.
Jennifer: Oh, right, and you just happened to be there.
EJ: Yes, I did.
Jennifer: [Laughing] Oh, I-- are you really that desperate to win? You are a pathetic human being.
Brady: [Grunts] I'm sorry. All of this, whatever you're going through, is much harder than I realized for you.
Madison: I care about you. And despite how good I am at driving you away, I don't want to. I really don't.
Brady: We all have baggage, you know. God knows I have. I've got tons of it. It's not the same as yours, but-- thank you for being honest with me the other night, and thank you for being honest with me now.
Madison: I'm trying. I really am.
Brady: I can see that. And it means a lot to me that you're going through this for me.
Madison: Thank you for saying that.
Brady: I sure wish we could've talked this out the other night. It would've saved me a hell of a lot of cold water.
Madison: Yeah, well, I don't-- even if we had talked about it the other night, I doubt that I was in a position or, you know, a place to really admit that I have a problem.
Madison: So the outcome would probably have been the same.
Brady: So all that cold water didn't go to waste after all, then. I'm glad that we're talking.
EJ: Would you do me a favor and remind me? The first thing I need to do when I become mayor is to have the water checked for very high levels of paranoia, okay? Jennifer. Nicole did not set this up, okay? Your man canceled. I stepped in.
Abe: You know, uh, I'm just happy the kids got what they needed. But I have been planning for the entire community to donate. Rich and poor alike, kids giving from their piggy banks, so that everyone in town could feel as if they were part of something worthwhile.
EJ: Hmm. That's really touching, Abe. I think the only thing that's missing is the unicorn ride through Lollipop Land. Look. My plan at least gives the children something before they collect Social Security.
Lexie: All right, EJ. That's enough. You've made your point.
Abe: All right, let's go.
Lexie: Just when I thought... I couldn't get any more disappointed in you.
Abe: Come on.
Jennifer: You know, I asked you not to play dirty, and you just ignored me.
Nicole: That was you? I thought that was a little gnat buzzing around my ear.
[Cell phone rings]
EJ: Sorry. Would you excuse me?
Jennifer: I'm just telling you, Nicole--
Jennifer: Play fair, okay?
Nicole: Or what? You're gonna get your little blonde self down in the mud with me? Politics is dirty business. Doesn't matter who's in the game. You should know that more than anyone. It's just sad that Abe won't learn that until he loses on Election Day. So sad.
Sami: [Laughs] I should've known.
Kate: What? That Sydney is a gifted artist? Because you should have known. How did your meeting go?
Sami: Don't change the subject, Kate. I said no candy, no cocoa, no toys.
Kate: What? I don't remember you saying that.
Sami: You promised.
Kate: [Sighs] Okay. Here you go, sweetie. Actually, I didn't. You see, grandparents are really sly that way, okay? And besides, what difference does it make? A few snacks and trinkets? It's not gonna cause any long-term damage. That is a parent's job. Ah, only kidding. You must've done something right, because all three of them are angels.
Sami: Thank you. I mean, I am trying.
Kate: It shows.
Sami: Hey, did you have so much fun with Grandma?
Allie: Grandma had our picture taken with Santa.
Sami: Let me see. [Gasps] Oh, my gosh. That's awesome. That picture with Santa is so cute.
Sydney: I love Santa.
Allie: And Grandma.
Johnny: She's the best.
Sami: Are you kidding me? Did you give them money, too? Well, you guys are very lucky that Grandma had time to play with you while I went to my meeting. I really appreciate it.
Kate: Oh, thanks. I enjoyed every single moment of it, and the next time you need a babysitter, put me on the short list.
Sami: I will.
Kate: So. How did that meeting go, anyway?
Sami: Uh, actually, I was a little bit late, so that part was sort of tense. Uh, but then I won him over. So Morrison is on board at Mad World. And, uh, that's thanks to your help.
Kate: Glad I could help. Who said that?
Johnny: When can Grandma Kate play with us again?
Sami: I don't know. We'll have to see.
Kate: I would be more than happy to come back and babysit anytime. Sami, I know how you feel about Stefano, but he loves his grandchildren, too. And he'd love to see them. Including Allie.
Sami: Kate, spoiling them rotten with candy is one thing. Taking them to see Stefano is not gonna happen.
Kate: Had to ask.
Madison: You know, after you left the other night--
Brady: After--after what?
Madison: After I made you leave--
Madison: I wanted to come running after you and tell you that I was sorry and beg you to stay with me.
Brady: Why didn't you do that?
Madison: Because I was afraid.
Brady: Of what?
Madison: Of what you-- [Sighs] Of w-w-what you would think of me. I don't know.
Brady: Mm. That you're a tease?
Madison: That I'm crazy. Oh. You already do.
Nicole: EJ, what's wrong? You've been in a mood ever since you gave your speech.
EJ: I was just thinking about what Lexie said.
Nicole: Well, it seems she's been saying the same thing ever since you decided to run against Abe.
EJ: Nicole, they are angry. And frankly, I think they have every right to be angry. You set Jennifer up so that Abe would miss that luncheon and make him look bad.
Nicole: They have no proof of that.
EJ: It doesn't matter that they don't have proof. I know that you did this.
Nicole: Yes. I did, EJ. Because I want you to win. Are you telling me I went too far?
Jennifer: If we don't change our tactics soon, EJ is gonna win this election.
Lexie: [Sighs] As I said, there is a line Abe won't cross.
Jennifer: Abe, look at me. Look at me. Do you-- do you want to be mayor or not? 'Cause Salem is my home. I love this town. I do not want EJ to be my mayor. I do not want my daughter's future in his hands. And I love your principles. I-I share them with you. But what I'm asking you to do pales in comparison to the sacrifices you're gonna have to make if EJ gets elected.
Abe: Then I won't be any better than he is.
Jennifer: No, Abe! I am not asking you to dive into the muck and come up slinging mud. I'm not asking you to do that. I'm asking you to fight. Or--or just accept defeat. It's your choice.
Kate: Well, I guess I knew that you wouldn't want the kids to see Stefano, but as his wife, I felt I had to ask.
Sami: And you are definitely a loyal wife. I admire that.
[Cell phone ringing]
Sami: Oh, Rafe just texted me that he can help out with the kids. Awesome. So I'm gonna take them home and then go to work. Hey, everyone, guess what! We're gonna go back home, and Rafe is going to play with you guys. Say goodbye to Grandma.
Sami: Go give her hugs.
Kate: Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes. Bye-bye. I had so much fun. I love you guys.
Sami: I don't know if it's the holidays or the start of the end of the world, but I really appreciate you helping me today.
Kate: I'm always available to help you, Sami. Within reason.
Sami: That's more like it. Good luck cleaning up. On your mark. Get set. Go! Go! No, me first, me first!
Brady: I don't think you're crazy. I actually think you're very brave.
Madison: I don't feel brave. I just feel scared.
Brady: That's normal. You are normal.
Madison: No woman in her right mind would think it was normal that I threw you out of bed. Why does everything have to be so complicated?
Brady: Because we're human beings. And we have feelings and emotions, and they're always messy and screwed up. I have an idea. I think we should be just honest with each other from here on out. You tell me your feelings, I'll tell you mine, and when problems come up... we'll work them out together. What do you say?
Madison: I'd like that.
Brady: Me, too.
Nicole: Seriously, EJ? Are you angry that I sabotaged Abe's chance to speak at the luncheon?
EJ: It's a lot more than that, Nicole.
EJ: You no doubt strong-armed these companies that do business with my family into underwriting a project that is going to cost them millions.
Nicole: I love you, EJ. And I want you elected mayor. And I will do anything and everything to make that happen. Please don't be angry with me.
EJ: Angry with you? How could I be angry with the sexiest, savviest campaign manager that any man could want to have?
Lexie: I hate to think what EJ would do to this town as mayor.
Jennifer: Right. Which is why we need to make sure he doesn't get elected. I know that we can beat him at his own game.
Lexie: Well, I mean, Jennifer, I already told you, there's no way Abe's going to fight dirty.
[Cell phone rings]
Lexie: Oh, excuse me. I need to call the hospital.
Abe: Do what you have to do.
Jennifer: Even if it means getting dirty, Abe?
Abe: I will do whatever it takes to win this election.
Jennifer: Okay. I'm in.
Abe: Everything okay?
Lexie: Yeah. Listen, honey, I-- I just want to say that I am so proud of you and the way that you--you stick to your principles, no matter what. Honey, the right man is going to win this election. I-I just know it. I love you so much. Oh, love you so much. [Giggles]
