Jennifer: Oh, my God.

Abigail: It's looks great, Mom. It looks very professional.

Jennifer: Professional? This--it's neon green. That's not professional. I'm gonna have to wear close-toed shoes. This is hideous and ugly. It's horrible.

Abigail: It's not that bad.

Jennifer: It's bad.

Abigail: Okay, it is--maybe it's a little bright.

Jennifer: Oh, here. I don't even want to look at it anymore.

[Both laughing]

Jennifer: I'm gonna take it off.

Abigail: This is so fun. We haven't done this in a long time, just hang out, us.

Jennifer: I know. You're right. We haven't, huh? Not since you know who came back to town.

Abigail: Yeah, you know who. Lord Voldemort.

Jennifer: Oh, don't say that. That's not funny. But I shouldn't have said what I said. But finish my toes. I have two toes not done.

Abigail: I'm sorry. You were complaining. I didn't know.

Jennifer: I hate the color. You're gonna have to take it off and change it and give me a new color.

[Both laughing]

Jennifer: Oh, that's awful.

Abigail: [Laughing] Mom!

Sami: God, the whole thing is so surreal. Today just seems like a terrible nightmare.

Rafe: Yeah, I know. It was awful. It really was. It was-- but hey, we got Johnny back. That's all that matters, right?

Sami: Thank you.

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: Thank you for bringing him back. I mean, you have to know I-- I thought he was gone. I thought I was never going to see him again.

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: After what I did to you, I don't deserve--

Rafe: Would you--would you stop? You didn't do anything to me. We had a little fight. It was okay. It's over now.

Sami: I love you. I love you so much.

Rafe: I love you, too. I love you more than anything, and nothing is ever going to change that, all right?

EJ: [Gasping] I really thought I'd lost him. But hey. He didn't have a bruise. I mean, he--he didn't even have a scratch.

Nicole: Thank god.

EJ: Yeah. [Laughs softly]

Nicole: EJ... thank you for letting me go with you. I am so happy. I am so relieved.

EJ: Of course.

Nicole: [Exhales heavily] Are you okay? I mean, I-I know you have all these horrific scenarios that have gone through your head the past few hours, but EJ, none of them were true. Nothing happened. Johnny is fine.

EJ: It just doesn't really feel real, you know.

Nicole: You love your son so much.

EJ: Oh, Nicole, I lost myself when I thought I lost him.

Nicole: That's the real you, EJ. That's why... I love you.

EJ: What?

Nicole: Thinking we'd lost Johnny made me face the truth. I love you. I've been fighting these feelings for so long. When we were together, when we were apart. And I can't breathe without thinking of you.

EJ: [Stammers]

Nicole: EJ, what? Did something happen? Have you changed your mind about us?

EJ: No. I'm sorry. Nicole, you just had me sign divorce papers.

Nicole: I know. I know, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I made you sign those. It's just that I was so afraid of getting hurt again. But I know that won't happen now. I know that. I... I love you.

Carrie: Ooh. Austin. I'm working.

Austin: Well, I thought maybe you might need a little break.

Carrie: John's sentencing hearing is tomorrow. I'm preparing my leniency argument. Please, go, go, go.

Austin: I mean, you haven't eaten in hours. I thought maybe we could grab a little something to eat. Clear our heads. It's been quite a long day, Carrie. You need to relax.

Carrie: I am sorry. I wish--I would love to. But I need to read this. Why--why don't you go without me? I'm not even hungry, anyway.

Austin: Okay.

Carrie: Go.

Austin: [Sighs] I'll get out of your hair.

Nicole: EJ... what's going on?

EJ: I'm--I'm sorry. I just can't stop thinking about Johnny.

Nicole: Yeah, yeah, of course. But EJ, I-I just couldn't-- I just couldn't pretend anymore that I still wanted a divorce. All I wanted to do was be there for Johnny and you. But EJ, is it too late?

EJ: Oh. No, no. I'm sorry, Nicole. Listen, I-I-I still need you.

Nicole: [Moans softly]

EJ: I'm sorry, I'm-- Nicole, I just can't stop thinking about my son.

Nicole: Of course. Of course.

EJ: You know, I need to go and see him.

Nicole: Yes. You should, okay? And please give him--give him a hug for me.

EJ: You're not going to come with me?

Nicole: I would love to I-if you're sure you want me there again.

EJ: Yeah, I want you there again. Come on. [Gasping] [Groaning]

Rafe: God, you okay?

Sami: I just fell asleep for a second.

Rafe: Just had a little nightmare. Here, come here.

Sami: [Sighs] Oh, god, I'm so awful.

Rafe: Yeah, well, it's over now. Johnny's home safe and sound. You wanna go in the bedroom, maybe, lie down there? Get some better rest?

Sami: Yeah. I do. I just-- I just want you to hold me for a little bit, okay?

Rafe: Yeah, of course. Honey... god, you're shaking. Oh, today has been awful. Awful from thinking the worst.

Sami: You know what? I have to tell you something. I just...

Rafe: What is it?

Sami: I just don't think you're gonna forgive me, and--

Rafe: Would you stop? Stop it, stop it, stop it. Hey. There's nothing to forgive. You've done nothing wrong. Nothing. Now come here. 22 thunder slide right

Abigail: Done.

Jennifer: Honey... it's a mess.

Abigail: Mom!

Jennifer: I'm good at cleaning up messes, right?

Abigail: I think it looks great.

[Banging at door]

Jennifer: Will you get that? Thank you. No, it looks good. I love it. Thank you.

Jack: Hi.

Abigail: Uh, come in.

Jack: Thanks. Hello.

Jennifer: What are you doing here?

Jack: I, uh, I want to say something to you. Um, and after I'm finished, you can-- you can kick me out if you'd like.

Jennifer: Fine.

Abigail: I just realized I'm starving, so I'm gonna-- I'm just gonna go. Okay. Bye.

[Door clicks open]

[Door creaks shut]

Jack: Uh--[Clears throat] "Jennifer, as you know, the last time we spoke, I behaved like a real jerk. And I want you to know I will do anything to make it up to you. My first thought was to win you back with something fantastically romantic and over the top, like a helicopter ride over the mountains or a spontaneous trip to Hawaii. But then I realized two things: One, I have no money. And two, romantic, over-the-top gestures, while they may be my specialty, are not your thing. I owe you more than that."

Jennifer: Well... a spontaneous trip to Hawaii might have worked, Jack.

Jack: Well, be that as it may, I-- what I really feel like I owe you is complete honesty.

Will: Sorry, he was a little too wound up to go to sleep.

Sami: Awww.

Will: Wasn't sleepy.

Sami: I see you. Look at you, bouncy. Bouncy, bouncy. You're gonna just snuggle.

[Knock at door]

Sami: I don't wanna let you go.

Rafe: Who's there?

EJ: It's EJ.

Rafe: Huh.

[Door clicks open]

Rafe: You're back.

EJ: Yeah. We're back. Uh, good, he's still awake.

Will: Well, it's past his bedtime, so don't get him riled up.

EJ: I mean, I knew he'd be tired, but I also knew he'd be awake.

Sami: What do you want?

EJ: I just wanted to see my son, Samantha. Daddy needs another hug. Come here. Ohhh! Mm. God. [Laughs] Oh, Johnny.

Johnny: Daddy, I can't breathe.

EJ: No? [Chuckles] Sorry. Love you.

Johnny: I love you, too, daddy.

Nicole: Uh--[Clears throat] Do you mind if-- if I-- hey, buddy. Come here. Ooh, big hugs. Oh, do you know everybody loves you so much? Know that? [Laughs]

EJ: Rafe, I, uh, I just wanted to thank you for finding my son.

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, I think we're all just glad he's okay.

Johnny: [Yawns]

Will: Well, Johnny's tired, and I will take him to bed now.

Sami: I think I should do it. Let me, come on.

Will: No, mom, I got it.

Rafe: Wait, one last hug. Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa. There you go. All right, all right. Go to bed, go to bed. Hey, remember, don't let the bed bugs bite. So. Anyone want a drink?

EJ: Well, we should probably get going, actually. I think we could all do with some rest.

Nicole: Thank you. Thank you for letting us see Johnny again.

Sami: Well, I know how much Johnny loves his dad.

Nicole: Okay. Oh. Shoot. Uh, I forgot. I-I brought this for Johnny. I thought he might like it.

Rafe: Well, why don't you give it to him? I'm sure he's still awake.

Nicole: Really? You okay with that?

Rafe: Yeah, sure. Come on. Besides, I'll go with you. Like to see that smile one last time myself.

Nicole: [Laughs awkwardly] [Clears throat]

Sami: All right, we have to talk.

EJ: We should talk later.

Sami: What are we gonna do?

EJ: This is not the right time.

Sami: Well, we have to figure out what we're gonna do, because we screwed up, and we have to fix it.

EJ: Well, I don't exactly--

[Footsteps approach]

EJ: That was fast.

Rafe: Yeah.

Nicole: Yeah, well, you know, he was out before his head hit the pillow, so.

Rafe: Poor little guy.

EJ: Well, we, uh, we should probably get going.

Nicole: Okay. Thanks.

Rafe: Ugh. Well, that EJ DiMera may be a lowlife criminal, but I gotta hand it to him. He does love his son.

Abigail: Oh, my god.

Austin: Oh, wow, I'm sorry.

Abigail: I'm so sorry. I am such a klutz. I am sorry.

Austin: Abigail?

Abigail: Hi, Austin.

Austin: Abigail, is that you?

Abigail: I saw you here at the town square dedication, and I never got to say hi. I didn't know you were still here.

Austin: Yeah, yeah, we had a change of plans. How are you?

Abigail: [Laughing] Good. That's crazy.

Austin: Yeah. You know what? Last time I talked to Chelsea, she told me the two of you went to London and tore it up a little bit. Is that true?

Abigail: Well, yeah, we had some good times, I guess. But, um, I'm back now. I moved back a couple months after my mom did. And I'm actually going to Salem U.

Austin: Little Abigail's going to Salem U. You've gotta be kidding me. Wow.

Abigail: Yeah, what about you?

Austin: Well, you know how it is. Come home for a little friendly visit, and all hell breaks loose.

Abigail: [Laughs] Yeah, tell me about it.

Jack: Look, here's the truth. I panicked. That night at the cabin, you opened up to me. I-I panicked. I didn't know how to deal with the situation. So I avoided it by pretending I was asleep.

Jennifer: Yep, that about sums it up, Jack.

Jack: I-- I-I was a coward. My first instinct has--has always been to run. I know that.

Jennifer: But you have a new evasion tactic--playing possum.

Jack: And I've been an idiot. I have. But... I-- here's the facts, is I-- as wrong as I am for you, I love you. I always have.

Jennifer: Jack. This isn't about--

Jack: Look. I will do anything. I will do everything... to win you back, to be the man that you deserve. You want honesty? Here it is. Honestly, I will do whatever it takes... to be that man. I will do it. You ask it, I'll do it.

Will: Did you guys hear?

Rafe: Hmm?

Will: John's gonna be sentenced tomorrow. It's all over the news.

Rafe: Oh, god, that's right. Oh. You know what? I'm gonna call Carrie and see if she needs anything.

Will: It's terrible, isn't it?

Sami: What? What's terrible?

Will: What's happening to John.

Sami: Yeah. Yeah, it is.

Will: That's it? That's all you want to say?

Sami: Um... no, I mean, obviously, I just-- I'm sorry, I'm just out of it. I'm so tired, I--

Will: Tired. Yeah, mom, we're all tired.

Sami: Are you okay? Have I done something to upset you?

Will: Actually... you know what? There is something I-I've been dying to ask you about. Where the hell were you when Johnny was missing? Wow.

Abigail: So where's Carrie?

Austin: Um, she's at home. She's, uh, working. She's got a huge case tomorrow. And what about you?

Abigail: What about me?

Austin: Well, are you meeting somebody? I mean, it's a little late for a beautiful young lady to be on her own, isn't it?

Abigail: Well, thank you for your concern, but I just needed to get out of the house, get some fresh air.

Austin: Yeah. Yeah, me too. Well, listen. Um, all this yelling across the tables is ruining my perfectly good cheeseburger. Would you care to join me?

Abigail: Well, I would hate to ruin your meal. So yes. Thank you.

Austin: Sure. It's cold, isn't it?

Abigail: Yeah, well, serves me right for drinking this cafe-frappe-latte-whatever-it-is in the middle of winter.

Austin: Put this on.

Abigail: A hat.

Austin: Yeah, you know what they say. We lose 25% of our heat through the head.

Abigail: Oh. They say that about babies, Austin.

Austin: They do?

Abigail: Mm-hmm. Are you calling me a baby? Is that--is that what you're doing?

Austin: I would never do that, young Abby.

Abigail: Really? Hmm.

Austin: No.

Abigail: Oh, young Abby. That's very clever of you. Thank you.

Austin: You feel better?

Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, much.

Austin: Good.

Jennifer: Thank you for your honesty, Jack, really. It just feels like more of the same, though.

Jack: I know. I know it does, but it-- it's different now. Things are different now. I'm different now.

Jennifer: Yeah, so you keep saying.

Jack: But--

Jennifer: But the more I see, I just see the same old Jack.

Jack: I've changed. As soon as I came back and saw you and Abigail, I realized that everything had changed.

Jennifer: What are you talking about?

Jack: I had to let go of everything when I was over there in Afghanistan.

Jennifer: I know that. I know that.

Jack: I-I could see it in your eyes. I could see that you could sense a change in me. That I'm not the same, that you've had to hold me at a distance, you held me back. I sensed that.

Jennifer: You know what? Jack, no. I know that you have been through something very traumatic, and I can't even imagine how horrifying it was for you, but when I look at you, when I look in your eyes, I see the man that I fell in love with. And I see the man who broke my heart.

Jack: No.

Jennifer: Yes.

Jack: That man disappeared a long time ago. In a cave in Afghanistan. Jennifer... I-I don't even know who I am anymore. I am so lost. [Exhales sharply]

Jennifer: Yeah. And I don't know what to say.

Jack: I don't either. I don't either, except to say that you're right. I need help.

Nicole: We'd better release a statement to the press.

EJ: Hey.

Nicole: Hmm?

EJ: We're going to bed. Come on.

Nicole: No, no, no, no. We were, we were. Look, I realize that you've had an exhausting day, and as your wife, I should be by your side. But as your publicist, I insist that I take care of a few things, okay? I promise I will make it worth your while.

EJ: Really?

Nicole mm-hmm. [Giggles]

EJ: [Sighs] You really are fantastic. You know that?

Nicole: Mm-hmm. Yes.

EJ: Uh-huh.

Nicole: I am just doing my job. Okay.

EJ: Come on.

Nicole: No, listen. I still can't believe John confessed. Right? I mean, but who can blame him?

EJ: Right.

Nicole: Must be overwhelmed with guilt, stealing billions of dollars from hard-working Americans. I mean, I know that I am no saint, but really? Lying and betrayal? Just makes me sick.

Sami: No, I'm sorry, okay? I'm really sorry that I wasn't there. You have no idea how sorry.

Will: Really? Okay, you realize that sorry does not make it right. You disappeared when your family needed you and when your son needed you.

Sami: I made a mistake. I made a terrible mistake.

Will: Oh, god. Do you not care about anybody but yourself?

Sami: Look. I can't take it back. If I could, I would, believe me. I will never forgive myself for not being here.

Will: That makes two of us. You're supposed to be a mother, and you cannot just take off whenever you want.

Sami: Look, I'm wrong, okay? I'm wrong. But there's nothing else I can say.

Will: We were worried sick about you! We couldn't relax after finding Johnny because we had to look for you.

Sami: I know. I know.

Will: You know? Okay, you know! Then--then if you know so much, please tell me... what were you thinking?

Austin: Wow, so you're dating a DiMera, huh?

Abigail: Look, I know what you're thinking, but he's--he's not like his family. He's, uh--he's not. He's different.

Austin: Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, that's what they all say.

Abigail: Really, Austin? I don't want to get this from you, too.

Austin: Abigail, I'm just teasing you. I'm sure Chad is a great guy. He would have to be to get you.

Abigail: Thanks. He is a great guy. He's also got this, uh, this whole tall, dark, and handsome, mysterious, little bit of a bad boy thing happening. It's, uh, it's very attractive.

Austin: Well. I'm happy for you. It's sounds like you got it all figured out.

Jennifer: I know that coming here tonight and you opening up like this--I know it wasn't easy for you, Jack.

Jack: Oh, no, it's been terrifying, actually. But, uh, it has to be done. Kind of... to help myself and to help us, I have to face up to my demons, as they say.

Jennifer: I know, Jack. Don't we all?

Jack: And, well, I want to thank you for any and all the help that you've been giving me.

Jennifer: You don't have to thank me. You don't.

Jack: But I do. After everything that we've been through together and everything I've done to you, you-- I don't even deserve the time you're spending with me right now. So I-I appreciate it, and, uh, I think I--I think I should go now.

Jennifer: Jack, just wait. Would you just please wait? Look, now that we've got everything out in the open, I have something that I want to say. You were right. Everything you said tonight, you were right. You are a coward. You--you have always run from everything that is the least bit challenging or the--or the littlest bit scary. I knew that about you from the first day that I met you. But what I didn't know-- or maybe it's really so horrible, I don't want to know-- is what you went through and how it destroyed you.

Jack: I never wanted you to know or see... uh, what happened over there... in Afghanistan. I-I wanted to be strong.

Jennifer: Jack, it's-- you're not listening to me. It's not about me. It's not about us. It's about you. If you want to get better and be healthier, you have to do this for yourself. You can't do this for anyone else.

Sami: I wasn't thinking.

Will: No, mom, you weren't thinking, because if you were, you would've been here.

Sami: I don't know how to make you understand. Okay? I don't. Because I-I wasn't in my right frame of mind. I-I thought that my son was dead.

Will: Was dead? Yeah. We all thought your son was dead. But you were the only person who up and disappeared.

Sami: I thought I'd lost him. And I-I was just reacting. I don't--

Will: You know what? Make all the excuses that you want, mom. But it will not take back what you said. And it won't take back what you did.

Sami: I know.

Will: So where were you? Hmm? What was, uh-- what was so important that you just had to get up and leave your family?

Sami: It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Because it's never gonna happen again. Johnny is safe. It's over.

Will: No! It's not over, mom. You can't just blink, and poof, it all goes away. Life doesn't work like that.

Sami: I know. I know that. I just think that we should all get some sleep. You know, we can talk about this in the morning.

Will: How can you sleep? How can you sleep after what you did to Rafe?

Sami: Look, I-I just-- I don't know, okay? I just know that--that there's gotta be a way to make this right. You know, we can--we can talk about this later.

Will: You know what? You abandoned your family when we needed you the most. What kind of mother does that to her kids?

Rafe: Hey. What's going on here?

Austin: Okay, that's it. You win. Your most embarrassing moment completely trumps mine.

Abigail: Right?

Austin: Yes.

Abigail: Oh, god. Well, at least my humiliation could bring one person some joy.

[Cell phone rings]

Austin: Oh, it's Carrie. Oh, good, it looks like she's gonna make it.

Abigail: Awesome.

Austin: I'll just tell her to meet us right here.

Abigail: Yeah, actually, I'm gonna--I'm gonna head home, so.

Austin: Are you sure?

Abigail: Yeah.

Austin: No, I--Carrie would love to see you, Abigail.

Abigail: Um, well, I have an early class in the morning, so I should probably just, uh, get out of here anyway.

Austin: Okay.

Abigail: Yeah.

Austin: Well, it was great catching up.

Abigail: Yeah, you too. It was really good to see you.

Austin: And please tell your mom and dad I said hello.

Abigail: I will, yeah. Tell Carrie I said hi, too.

Austin: I will.

Abigail: So, okay. Bye.

Nicole: I know what you're thinking. "You're one to talk." I've made a career of lying.

EJ: Nicole, you have no idea what I'm thinking.

Nicole: Now, don't you try to deny it. I know you way too well.

EJ: Mm-hmm.

Nicole: Mm-hmm. Every look on your face. Every brooding silence. And yes, I may be guilty of deceit and manipulation and maybe a little stealing--

EJ: What? You? No, I don't believe this.

Nicole: Okay, but everything-- everything I do is because I believe it matters, it's important. At least to me. But what John did, I just don't--I don't get it.

EJ: Nicole, who knows why people do what they do, you know? Maybe he had a good reason. There's two sides to every story.

Nicole: EJ DiMera, are you defending John?

EJ: No, I'm not defending him. I'm just saying that whether he's guilty or he's innocent is not really relevant to me.

Nicole: Well, he is. He's guilty. He confessed. Which is really difficult to imagine.

EJ: Men do strange things when under... great duress.

Nicole: Well, I guess it's true what they say-- you never truly know someone until you discover what they're doing when no one's looking.

EJ: Oh.

Will: I'm sorry. I-I guess the stress of the past couple days has gotten to me. I didn't mean what I said.

Rafe: Hey, don't worry about it. We're all feeling the strain.

Will: Yeah, I better get to bed. Thanks for finding my brother.

Rafe: Oh, hey. Couldn't have done it without you. Night, will.

Will: Night.

Rafe: Hey. No, no, no, come on. He just needs some time to cool down. Everything's gonna be back to normal in the morning. You'll see.

Sami: I hope so.

Rafe: Yeah. I've got an idea. How 'bout I draw you a nice, hot bath? Sound good? Yes?

Sami: That's a great idea.

Rafe: Yeah.

Sami: You are so thoughtful. Amazingly.

Rafe: I just like doing things for you.

Sami: I don't deserve you.

Rafe: Would you stop? Would you stop with that? If anything, I don't deserve you.

Sami: Oh, that--

Rafe: You are the best. Did you know that? Okay. All right. Wow.

Sami: Thank you.

Rafe: Yeah. Thank you.

Sami: [Laughs]

Rafe: All right, how about I start that bath? Drink your tea.

Carrie: Whew. I'm finally finished, and I'm completely drained.

Austin: I'll bet.

Carrie: So. What are we having?

Austin: Well, I had the Horton square cheeseburger, which never disappoints.

Carrie: Oh, honey, I'm so sorry. I know you hate to eat by yourself.

Austin: That's okay. My girl's here now. That's all that matters.

Jennifer: Oh, hey.

Jack: Hey, Abigail.

Abigail: Hey.

Jennifer: Did you and Melanie have a good time?

Abigail: Oh, actually, I didn't catch up with Melanie, so I just, um, I just grabbed a cappuccino by myself.

Jack: All alone? At this hour? A beautiful girl like you?

Abigail: Dad, I was fine.

Jack: There were no boys bothering you?

Abigail: No, actually. I was, um, by myself. Not a one.

Jack: Good, good. Let's keep it that way. Well, I'll say my good nights, then. Love you. Good night.

Abigail: Thanks.

Jack: [Sighs]

Abigail: S-- so how was your talk with dad?

Jennifer: Uh, your dad is a complicated man.

Abigail: Hmm. That he is.

Jennifer: I'll tell you one thing. No matter how hard I try to fight it, your dad always gets my heart racing.

Sami: [Whispers] I'm sorry. [Gasping and moaning] Damn it. [Sniffling]

[Glass shatters]

Sami: [Sobbing]

Nicole: Which is why I don't regret any of it.

EJ: You don't?

Nicole: No. We've already seen the worst in each other. There's nothing left to hide.

EJ: Nicole, I'm--I'm truly sorry for hurting you.

Nicole: I know.

EJ: I will never be able to forgive myself for the way in which I treated you. You know, I'll... spend all the time you'll give me making it up to you.

Nicole: Okay, look, how about this? How about from now on, we start with a clean slate? Nothing from our past haunting us, holding us back. We'll just start fresh.

EJ: You just want to forgive all of our sins and move on?

Nicole: Yes. Yes. We've learned from our mistakes, EJ. We owe it to ourselves to start this relationship without all that baggage.

EJ: It's not that easy.

Nicole: Yes, it is.

EJ: It's not.

Nicole: Yes, it is. You just have to let go. No more lies. No more secrets. Just honesty and a new beginning. What do you say?

Rafe: Sami, what's going-- what's going on, honey? I heard a noise. What-- oh, my god. Sami, you're bleeding. Okay, I'm gonna get you a bandage. We're gonna fix you right up, okay?

Sami: I can't. I can't do this. I c--I can't keep doing this.

Rafe: Honey, honey, it's okay. It's okay. Everything's gonna be okay. Okay?

Sami: [Sobbing]

Maggie: Now that we know we're related, you and Melanie should be tested for it.

Hope: You're trying to make it sound like she led a double life, and she didn't.

Jennifer: Are you kidding me?

Jack: Oh, Jennifer.

Jennifer: You're gonna do this to me and Abigail again?
