[Reporters questioning]

All: Mr. Black, Mr. Black?

[General commotion]

Hold up, back up!

All: Mr. Black!

Sami: Oh, my God, Mom! Mom, what's going on? They've arrested John? Have you all lost your minds?

Carrie: You knew. You knew John was about to be arrested, and you didn't bother to tell me?

Austin: It's--it's not like I've known for a long time.

Carrie: And you kept it to yourself?

Austin: Okay, yeah.

Carrie: Had I known that this was about to happen, I could have prepped. I--I could have made sure the arrest happened someplace private. I could have kept him from being humiliated in front of everyone who loves him. Tonight, of all nights.

Austin: What do you think? You think that I'm happy about this? If it makes you feel any better, I feel like crap.

Carrie: Good.

Austin: Carrie, this is confidential information. Of all people, you should know that.

Carrie: And you should know that John is like a father to me. I cannot believe that you let this happen this way.

EJ: Father... John Black is being arrested. This husband and his miscreant. This is glorious. I tell you, I couldn't have planned this better myself.

Kate: Stefano said he had urgent business to take care of.

EJ: Really? More urgent than watching John get arrested? You know, I should be recording this.

Kate: Don't you think you're being just a tad bit cruel?

EJ: Kate, this is a party. I think...

Maggie: This has to be a mistake. John would never--

Victor: [Indistinct] John's the most honest man I know.

Maggie: Oh, Marlena must be-- I have to go to her. Oh. Oh, Victor, your beautiful proposal, and I didn't even give you an answer.

Victor: Don't worry about it. It's a standing offer. Go to your friends.

Maggie: Thank you. I'll call you when I have new news.

Sami: Hold on a second, whatever you think John has done, you're wrong, okay? This is crazy!

Rafe: I can't talk to you about this--I can't talk to you about this right here, okay?

John: It's all right, Rafe's just doing his job.

Sami: But wait a second, what are the charges? What is this about?

This one here, let's go.

All right, let's go! Come on!

[General commotion]

Sami: Wait, wait, Mom! Mom, Mom? Don't freak out, okay? It's gonna be okay. We'll go to the police station. We are gonna get this fixed. Don't worry.

Marlena: I'll take care of this. You stay close.

Sami: Okay.

Marlena: Thank you.

[Overlapping chatter]

Daniel: I--I don't know-- know what to say. Uh... I'm sorry.

Jennifer: It's all right.

Daniel: No.

Jennifer: It's okay, you don't have to be sorry.

Daniel: No, I just--I'm-- I'm sorry that this happened to you.

Jennifer: I am--I am so used to this. [Laughs]

Daniel: Yeah?

Jennifer: Yeah. This is what happens when you have an insensitive, irresponsible, completely irritating ex-husband. The fact that he just showed up the way he did tonight, and expected us all to welcome him with open arms...

Daniel: Yeah.

Jennifer: I'm sorry. I--I--I'm not gonna talk about Jack tonight, 'cause that's what he wants--that would just be playing right into his hands, and I am not gonna say his name for the rest of the night. I promise you.

Daniel: Whoa, guess I'm stuck on you.

Jennifer: [Laughs]

Daniel: I'm not goin' anywhere.

Jennifer: [Laughs]

Daniel: Guess I better get that. [Laughs]

[Urgent knocking]

[Door opens]

Daniel: I don't think this is the time.

Jack: I don't--you don't think? To hell with what you think! Get rid of this clown!

Jennifer: What are you talking about? Don't call him names, and don't come in here giving me orders.

Jack: You and I have to talk, and you know it.

Sami: Oh, hey, Abe, what is going on?

Abe: It all happened so fast.

Sami: What do you mean?

Carrie: John's gonna be charged with embezzling from his financial companies' pension and investment funds.

Sami: What? Why would he steal from--from his own employees?

Carrie: I know, I know, it has to be a mistake, it-- I'm gonna go down to the police station and see if there's anything that I can do.

Sami: Okay.

Abe: Yeah, I'm gonna get over there, too.

Sami: No, no, wait, hold on. What do you know about this?

Abe: Uh, John just asked to talk to me and your dad, and that's as far as he got, and then Rafe and this other agent came up and put him under arrest, that's it. Let's go.

Lexie: Yeah.

Sami: Rafe knew? [Sighs]

Daniel: I'm sorry. I tried to stop him.

Jennifer: Oh, it's okay, Daniel, he is so slippery, and if anybody knows that, I do.

Jack: Jennifer, come on. This is important.

Jennifer: Oh, I'm sure it's very important to you, Jack, but I am busy tonight, as you can see, so please leave.

Jack: Look. I know how much I hurt you. I understand that.

Jennifer: I don't think you do.

Jack: If I ever meant anything to you, please, listen to me now.

Sami: Yeah, Grandma, no, of course, John didn't do it. I'm gonna go down to the station, I'm gonna check in with Mom, we're gonna get this sorted out. Thank you for watching the kids. Yeah, of course, I will. Bye. No, I don't have time to go a few rounds with you, okay?

EJ: Okay, Samantha, look.

Sami: I'm not in the mood.

EJ: I just want to say that I'm really sorry for what happened. That's it.

Sami: [Laughing] Oh, right.

EJ: Oh, come on, watching your stepfather get arrested by your husband? Shocking.

Sami: Oh, stop it. Stop it, okay, you're enjoying every minute of it, and I don't have time. EJ DiMera for mayor? Is this some kind of joke?

EJ: You missed my announcement, obviously. No, I formally declared my intention to be the next mayor of Salem.

Sami: You really think the people of this town are gonna vote for an unscrupulous, corrupt criminal like you, instead of an upstanding citizen like Abe Carver?

EJ: I think I have an excellent chance of winning.

Sami: Dream on. Why would you do something like that? You're just torturing your brother-in-law. Lexie must be furious.

EJ: Lexie is going to understand in time. Trust me.

Sami: You don't understand family.

EJ: Family, Samantha, is why I'm doing this, and I would have thought that you of all people would understand that.

Victor: Why aren't you down at the station house, giving your father some moral support?

Brady: I'm sure he has enough of that already. I'd only get in the way.

Victor: Really?

Brady: Yeah, besides, knowing my dad, he wouldn't want me to make a federal case out of it.

Victor: Bull! What the hell's going on here? Why are you avoiding him?

Kate: So other than that, how was the theater, Mrs. Lincoln?

Austin: [Laughs] Great, just what I was hoping for--my mother to make light of a really lousy thing that just happened to me. [Sighs]

Kate: Did you think I'd change while you were gone?

Austin: No, Mother. You're the one great constant in my life.

Kate: You were very, very impressive tonight. You know, when I hear "forensic accountant," I don't think of dashing, and authoritative, and in charge.

Austin: Well, that's not how Carrie saw it. She sees me as a conniving interloper. It doesn't help that I totally see her point.

Kate: Time heals all, okay, and personally I always felt Carrie had a tendency to overreact.

Austin: [Laughs] This coming from a woman who tries to off her daughter-in-law on a regular basis?

Kate: Mmm? So you haven't changed either. Still nasty little barbs when I try to comfort you. Sweetie, this tiff with Carrie is gonna blow over.

Austin: I am the forensic accountant on the case. It's my job to review the books. This thing goes to trial... I could have to testify against him.

Lexie: So, you, how are you holding up?

Marlena: It's not me that I'm worried about; it's John. Lexie, he's only been out of that chair about a week. He's not fully recovered, not even close to it.

Abe: I'll go make sure he's taken care of.

Marlena: Thank you, Abe.

Maggie: I'm sure that this is some kind of terrible mistake. He's gonna be out of here in a matter of minutes.

Lexie: Mm-hmm.

Marlena: Well, of course it's a mistake, Maggie, but the problem is the charges are-- they're serious, and I'm-- I'm so worried about John, the stress, what's--what it's doing to him physically.

Lexie: Would you like me to take a look at him?

Marlena: I would.

Lexie: Okay.

Marlena: Oh, Lexie, thank you so much. You know, seeing John stand in front of all the people here who he loved so much...made me so glad to be home. Now, I'm just not sure.

Roman: All right, John, have a seat.

John: Sorry for the commotion.

Roman: Ah.

John: And for ruining your party.

Hope: You're not the one who ruined it, John.

Bo: Once this is all cleared up, I'm sure Detective Brady here is gonna have some choice words with her fellow law enforcement professionals.

Hope: Mmm.

John: It's like I told Sami, those guys were just doin' their jobs.

Hope: Job? Yeah, well, their timing left something to be desired.

Bo: Did you know there was a problem brewing?

John: Marlena and I knew that there was an investigation. The authorities were looking into Basic Black's finances, but we just thought--well, we hoped that we could clear this up before it got this far. I thought that I would be protected by the mere fact that I hadn't done anything wrong.

Roman: So okay, the timing was off, the party ended a little early, but there's nothin' to worry about. I mean, they can't have much of a case, right?

John: [Sighs]

EJ: You know, Samantha, my motives should be clear to you, of all people.

Sami: I'm gonna hate myself for asking this. I do already. Why? Just tell me why you are doing this.

EJ: I'm doing this for the children. Look, I was a party to tarnishing the DiMera name, and now I'm taking responsibility for that, and I'm being a party to restoring it.

Sami: You have your work cut out for you.

EJ: I'm taking a leaf out of your book, actually.

Sami: Excuse me?

EJ: I know how hard you worked to redeem yourself. I would like to think that I'd have your support. I'm just trying to do exactly the same thing.

Brady: I'm not avoiding my dad.

Victor: So you two have been in touch?

Brady: Oh, yeah.

Victor: And? Come on, Brady, I'm gonna find out anyway.

Brady: All right. He's been on my case, all right?

Victor: Taking over Titan, starting a war with the DiMeras, that didn't make daddy proud?

Brady: He doesn't like the way I've been running things, which I find pretty damn ironic, considering what happened tonight.

Victor: So you're just gonna turn your back on him.

Brady: Absolutely not, I'm-- I actually have somebody monitoring the situation right now, and I'm gonna keep my distance until I know exactly what the situation is. But you know what? How's Maggie doing? I mean, did she say yes? What's going on with that?

Victor: She didn't have time to give me an answer. She wanted to be with Marlena.

Brady: Well, I'm sorry about that. That was one hell of a proposal, though. I mean, the timing was a little off.

Victor: It's fine, or it will be, as soon as I get the answer I'm waiting for.

Sami: Mom, I am so sorry. You have no idea. I'm sorry, I'm sorry that Rafe is the one who arrested him. I'm sorry that Rafe is down there booking him right now--

Marlena: Sami, Sami! This wasn't Rafe's fault.

Sami: He could have at least warned us. I mean, I can't believe that he didn't tell me. How could he not tell me? [Sighs]

Rafe: Sorry about this, John.

John: Yeah, well, I was just telling Marlena that I thought I should spend some time with my stepdaughter's new husband.

Rafe: [Laughs] Listen, I had no idea this was coming. The FBI, they contacted me out of the blue, and asked if I'd help make the arrest.

John: Well, you used to be one of theirs, right?

Rafe: Yeah.

John: Don't worry about it. I was a cop myself once. I understand.

Rafe: Listen to me. I know you're one of the good guys. I'm gonna do whatever it takes to, uh, to help you out on this.

Roman: Tim, come on, we made the arrest for you. Now I want to see the evidence.

Tim: It's a federal beef. I can't show you guys anything.

Abe: You know, everyone in this room has known John Black for years.

Hope: This is ridiculous. John would never steal anyone's life savings.

Tim: They wouldn't have insisted on acting tonight if they weren't sure he's guilty.

Bo: 100% sure.

Tim: They have him dead to rights.

Hope: [Sighs]

Jennifer: For my children's sake, I will listen to what you have to say.

Jack: You can go now.

Daniel: No. Do you want me to go?

Jennifer: I can handle him.

Daniel: [Whispers] Okay.

Jack: [Sighs]

Daniel: I won't be far.

Jennifer: Okay.

Jack: [Sighs]

Jennifer: You better talk fast, because the longer I look at your face, the more I want to strangle you.

Jack: Well, this won't work if you're angry.

Jennifer: Oh, oh, I moved beyond anger a long time ago, Jack. Do you have any idea how sick it makes me that I had to keep explaining to our children that you walked out on me, and not them? Do you have any idea how hard it's been to take the high road about you for their sake? Do you have any idea how much I wanted to tell them that their father was in the middle of some selfish mid-life crisis, and that's why he's disappeared for a year, out of our life completely? And this stupid blog that you would write entries in-- do you think about that? Does it bother you? Do you care?

Jack: Of course, I care!

Jennifer: Then where the hell have you been all this time?

Jack: That's what I'm trying to tell you. I was held hostage. My recipe for French toast?

Victor: Well, I guess it's just as well you're not tied up with your father's problems. I've arranged a very important meeting for the two of us.

Brady: The new project?

Victor: Right.

Brady: Well, I've read the report that you sent me, and I think you're right. Looks like a win-win for Titan.

Victor: Well, I'm glad we're on the same page. Now all we have to do is meet with the CEO and seal the deal.

Kate: Hello.

EJ: Hey. [Grunts] It feels so good to get this thing off. Is Father back?

Kate: Uh, no, he's not back yet.

EJ: [Sighs] Really? Celebrate my announcement with him.

Kate: I know, I know, I know. I have been checking online. You throwing the hat into the ring is national news. It's amazing. There are pictures of you and Patti Stanger all over the blogosphere.

EJ: Really?

Kate: Yeah.

EJ: Okay, [Laughs] I had no idea you were into all these...

Kate: [Laughing] What?

EJ: Trashy websites.

Kate: No, no, I'm not. Well, maybe just Look, take a look.

EJ: Mm-hmm.

Kate: Wait a minute.

EJ: Hmm.

Kate: Wait a minute. What?

EJ: What?

Kate: No, there is no way. No, that can't be her, there's no way she would be in town.

EJ: Who? [Laughing] Who are you talking about?

Kate: No, no. No, it can't be. There is no way that she would come into Salem and be-- and be at this party.

Sami: Seriously, Carrie, what makes me the most angry about the entire thing is the-- oh. Rafe.

Rafe: What is it that makes you really angry?

Sami: [Laughs] On advice of counsel, I am not speaking to you.

Carrie: Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, don't drag me into this. I have my own problems with Austin. Good luck, you two.

Rafe: Well, it seems to me what makes you really angry is the fact that you didn't know that this was gonna go down.

Carrie: Actually, that's not what I was going to say, but yes, that infuriates me, too. I don't understand why it had to be you. You're his son-in-law. That makes it personal. The fact that you arrested him in public, in front of everybody is humiliating and makes it look like you think he's a flight risk, and the fact that you were the one that did the arrest, it just--it just couldn't make him look worse.

Rafe: I didn't turn down the assignment because I thought it would be important if he was arrested by someone that he knew, someone who could potentially protect him.

Sami: And you couldn't find a way to give me a heads-up?

Rafe: [Laughs] Oh, yeah, right, about that--I tried. In fact, I called your cell phone like a million times. I looked all over for you. Where the heck were you?

Hope: What I don't get is why John was targeted to be investigated in the first place. I mean, John. It's John, of all people.

Bo: Hey, doc.

Daniel: Hey.

Hope: Oh, I called Daniel. Uh, thank you so much for coming down.

Daniel: No, no problem. Uh, so where's the patient?

Hope: Oh, my gosh! Daniel, I'm so sorry, I-- I forgot to call you. Lexie took care of him after you did. I'm sorry.

Daniel: Oh, that's--uh, so John's okay.

Hope: Well, physically. You know what, I feel terrible. You came down here for nothing. I interrupted your evening with Jen. I am so sorry.

Daniel: Uh, no, no worries at all, no worries at all. I mean, it was already interrupted.

Hope: What do you mean?

Daniel: Well, Jack--Jack's back.

Bo: What?

Hope: What?

Daniel: Yeah, he crashed the party, I mean literally just--

[Imitates explosion]

Hope: How? How--how did we miss that?

Bo: Good question.

Daniel: Well, actually they're at her house right now, and he's trying to explain why he left, and why he broke her heart, and just--

Hope: [Sighs]

Bo: Yeah, sounds like Jack hasn't changed. He shows up where he's not wanted and has an explanation for his bad behavior.

Hope: Well, there is no way, absolutely no way he could explain how he treated his family.

Jennifer: Wait, you were being held hostage?

Jack: [Sighs]

Jennifer: Did the dog eat your homework, Jack? Is the check in the mail? Have you forgotten that I know you lie your way out of things all the time, Jack? I haven't forgotten that.

Jack: I understand it could be hard to believe me.

Jennifer: I would have to be an idiot to believe what you just told me.

Jack: Then don't believe me. Just--just listen to me.

Jennifer: All right, okay, you have two minutes. Two minutes, Jack.

Jack: Okay. Do you remember the story that I was working on before you left? It was an investigative report on the opium drug trade in Afghanistan.

Jennifer: Yes, you hit a dead end on it.

Jack: I lied.

Jennifer: Right, exactly, Jack, you lied.

Jack: I hit the jackpot! I met a guy over there, a contact who could get me on the inside, but I had to go undercover and I had to protect you and the kids. So I made up the story about going on the walkabout, and surprises, surprises, you believed me. I mean, you know I hate the outdoors. I mean, bears live outdoors.

Jennifer: One minute, Jack.

Jack: All right, when I got to Afghanistan, I guess I asked the wrong person the wrong question. I realized I was in way over my head. I started thinking about, "how can I get out of there?" That's when they grabbed me. They held me hostage for months and months. I couldn't get out of there. I thought-- it wasn't till last week that they rescued me, and I hopped on a plane, and I came straight back to you.

Jennifer: You know what, there is one--there is one word for all of this. Unbelievable. Unbelievable, Jack!

Jack: If I was gonna lie, I would have come up with a much better story than that. You know me, Jennifer. You know when I'm lying... and I'm not lying now. Not about this. That can of Pledge under your sink

Sami: [Sighs] You know what, you're right. Us fighting about this isn't gonna do anybody any good and, um, I know you're telling the truth. I know you did try to reach me, and I didn't realize that I didn't have my phone on.

Rafe: Hmm.

Sami: So it's fine, okay? I accept your apology, and I should probably go talk to my mom.

Rafe: Sami? Sami. Hey. You didn't answer me. Where were ya?

Sami: Um... [Clears throat] I had a follow-up interview.

Rafe: Hmm. For the job we talked about?

Sami: Just sorta came out of the blue.

Rafe: [Sighs] So you left the party and went? Without saying anything to me.

Sami: The H.R. department made it seem like it was really urgent.

Rafe: You know that I felt strongly about this.

Sami: I didn't have time for you to do a background check.

Rafe: Oh, okay, so you're angry at me for holding out on you, but when you do it, it's okay.

Sami: I wasn't holding out on you, okay? I just--

Rafe: Lied. Lied.

Sami: I'm sorry.

Rafe: Well.

Sami: I'm sorry. Would it matter to you if I told you that it went really well?

Rafe: [Laughs] Well, I'd be happier for you if this company or corporation told you the name. Did they?

Sami: No. No, they haven't, okay, because... well, I don't know, but they can't. But they're a big, established, successful corporation--I know that.

Rafe: Uh-huh. They tell you what position you're entertaining?

Sami: Why do I feel like I'm being interviewed again, only that one was a lot more friendly. Is there just no possibility of you being happy for me?

Rafe: Honey, they don't want you to know the name of the corporation, okay? They're hiding something from you. Do you not get that? Listen to me--do not do anything, do not accept the job until I find out more about this corporation. Do you understand?

Sami: Is that an order? Are you giving me an order?

Tim: Rafe, see you a minute?

Sami: [Sighs]

EJ: What are you talking about?

Kate: [Sighs]

EJ: Who's in Salem?

Kate: Madison James.

EJ: Who?

Kate: Madison James, as in Mad World Cosmetics, personal care, the biggest--one of the biggest companies in the world. [Sighs]

EJ: Okay, so?

Kate: So the little sneak is probably here trying to suss out the competition.

EJ: Oh, you mean you.

Kate: Yes--

EJ: Mmm.

Kate: Yes, of course I mean me. She probably found out what I have in store for Countess Wilhelmina, and she's gonna try a little sabotage.

EJ: Sabotage, Kate? Really? You don't think you're being a little bit paranoid?

Kate: EJ, really? This is the business world. There's money involved. No, I don't think she's in Salem for the waters. I think she's here on a search and destroy mission, and my company is the target.

Victor: Maggie.

Maggie: Everyone's been trying to call you. You do know your father was arrested tonight, don't you?

Brady: Uh, yeah, yeah, I do.

Maggie: Well, aren't you going to go see him? He needs you.

Brady: Well, the cops aren't gonna let me see him tonight. But Maggie, I'm gonna do everything I can to help him, obviously, but I have to, uh-- I have to make some calls, so excuse me.

Maggie: What is with him?

Victor: Oh, he's Brady, so everything is complicated. I, on the other hand, am not complicated.

Maggie: Mmm.

Victor: At least not when it comes to you. So as long as you're here, it seems to me that I asked you a question.

Marlena: I mean...utterly amazing.

Sami: Mom, how is he?

Marlena: John... is John. He said it's no big deal, and he wants me to go back to the house.

Sami: Okay, so he needs a lawyer.

Marlena: I've already spoken with the head of his legal team.

Sami: He already has a legal team for this?

Marlena: He's had one in place for a while.

Carrie: And they're already demanding to see the evidence against him, and they're trying to get him arraigned as quickly as possible.

Sami: My sister, the lawyer.

Carrie: [Sighs] Still learning, but I do know the law is on John's side. I don't know what the FBI and the sec think they have, but the burden of proof is on them. John is innocent. He is not going to prison.

Jack: Do you have any idea what I've been through? No plumbing, no running water, no comforts of home. You see the beard?

Jennifer: Yeah, about that beard, Jack--

Jack: You like?

Jennifer: I hate it. I cannot have a serious conversation with you until you shave that stupid thing off your face.

Jack: I'll shave it off, it'll be gone, just please, say that you believe me.

Jennifer: I say... say that I believe you're being sincere, Jack, there's still-- there's so many holes in your whole story.

Jack: Like what?

Jennifer: Like what, like your captors, they let you send messages to Adrienne and me? And when you were being held captive, you were blogging? I mean, did you have free Wi-Fi? Did the captors give you free Wi-Fi, Jack?

Jack: No, no, no. My contact over there, he kept up the blog. I didn't write any of those entries. He even went so far as to send messages to you and Adrienne. He was very creative.

Jennifer: Why? Why would you keep me in the dark? That's what I don't understand.

Jack: I had to. I didn't think there was anything that you could do for me that wouldn't blow my cover, and I didn't want you to worry.

Jennifer: You would rather me believe that you are some irresponsible jerk? I could've gone to the State Department, Jack. I wouldn't have blown your cover. I could have helped you.

Jack: I cop to being an idiot. I never should've risked everything for a story. But I--I never stopped wanting to get back to you, you gotta believe that. Call the U.S. Embassy. They'll confirm what I said.

Jennifer: No, I'm not calling anyone... 'cause I believe you.

EJ: [Chuckles]

Kate: [Sighs] Wow, this photo is kind of blurry. Maybe it's not her.

EJ: Not who?

Kate: [Sighing] Madison. [Scoffs]

EJ: Uh, what? You're not still talking about her, are you?

Kate: You-- all right, no, maybe you are right, maybe I am-- maybe I'm overreacting. [Sighs]

EJ: [Laughs]

Kate: I mean, you know, she could be in Salem, right? But she certainly wouldn't be at a party thrown by the Hortons. [Sighs] Yeah. I've been working too hard. [Sighs]

Maggie: Tonight, Victor, you were very patient and understanding, and I appreciate it.

Victor: Patient and understanding? That sounds like the opening salvo to letting him down easy.

Maggie: Really? I thought it was thanking you for being patient and understanding. I mean, you made this very beautiful, very romantic proposal, and before I had a chance to answer, all hell broke loose. You gave me a lot to think about.

Victor: And?

Maggie: Could I ask you a favor?

Victor: As long as it doesn't take too long.

Maggie: Could we rewind just that--that question in question. Can we have a take two, without the interruption?

Victor: I think that can be arranged. Maggie Simmons Horton, will you make me the happiest man in the world? Will you marry me?

Maggie: Yes. Yes, Victor, yes! [Squeals] [Laughter and kissing] Yes. Yes, yes, yes.

Tim: I want to know how you are you doin'?  Keep me posted. Thanks.

Rafe: Will do. So what do you think of all that? From what I know about John, there's no way he's guilty.

Austin: Look, I don't know John's side of it...

Rafe: Mm-hmm.

Austin: But going over all this right now... he looks like he's guilty as hell. Hello. Honey?

Daniel: No, no, no, I do, I get it, I get it, I get that, uh, she needs to talk to him. I just wish that she would have, you know, called me by now, that's all.

Hope: Yeah, well, uh, Jack talks...a lot.

Daniel: Hmm, okay.

Hope: It could be a while. They were married for a long time, two kids--there's a lot to talk about.

Daniel: Yeah, well, just for the record, I decided not to tell Jennifer what a tool I think he is.

Hope: Hmm, probably a good idea.

Daniel: That's what I think. I mean, I just want whatever they gotta work out get worked out fast so she doesn't have to be hurt anymore, and she and I can move on with our lives.

Jack: It killed me that I, uh, I couldn't contact you... or Abigail, or J.J. I thought about you... and I thought about them every single hour, every day that I was gone. Thinking about you is what kept me going, and I made a vow, that if I ever got outta there, I was gonna make things-- everything different. I was gonna come back here and make things right between us. I was never gonna leave you again. This last year just slammed home to me how important you and me and--and the kids, our family was to me. My family... is everything to me. I know I have hurt you.

Jennifer: Jack.

Jack: I know I've hurt you. And I know I've let you down. But you know I've always loved you. Always. You know that?

Jennifer: Yes. I have always known that.

Jack: Now that you know what really happened, can you ever forgive me?

Austin: Carrie... will you talk to me, please? Listen, sweetheart, we need to work this out.

Carrie: Now is not a good time. One, I'm still furious with you, and two, I need to focus on what John needs. I need to talk to his legal team, so if you'll excuse me.

Sami: [Sighs]

Rafe: Hi.

Sami: My mom is a wreck. I--I'm really upset that this is happening.

Rafe: Okay.

Sami: And I'm still really mad at you.

Rafe: Hey, I'm mad at you, too. [Both laugh] Oy.

Sami: [Laughs]

Rafe: Seems to be a constant in our relationship, doesn't it?

Sami: From the very beginning.

Rafe: Yeah.

John: You do know, don't you, that I had a little different ending planned for tonight?

Marlena: I know. [Laughs]

John: Olives, champagne... et cetera. Well, at least I was hoping.

Marlena: We will have all that soon enough. First we have to get you out of here.

John: They say they have evidence, proof that I did this.

Marlena: Then it's all a mistake, because you're innocent.

John: [Sighs] Thanks for believing in me.

Marlena: I always have. Why would I stop now? John, we will get through this the way we always have gotten through everything. We will get through this together.

Marlena: Who did this to you?

John: Some of my fellow guests didn't like my looks.

Hope: We'll do everything we can to keep him safe.

Marlena: Like you did last night? There have been death threats. People are very upset.
