Chloe: What are you watching?
Daniel: So I'll... I'll see you at the hospital tomorrow.
Jennifer: Yeah, yeah. I'll see you tomorrow.
Daniel: Uh, thank you. Bye.
Jennifer: Yeah. Wow.
Jennifer: What did I do wrong? He couldn't get out of here fast enough.
Sami: Okay, stay asleep this time. [Sighs] Unbelievable. I mean, the creature packed up every single thing Rafe owns. He's trying to sneak out of town with every-- what the hell? That's not Rafe's. Great. So this must have been one of his women. He was, like, stealing her jewelry? [Scoffs, sighs]
Rafe 2: [Sighs] [Sniffs] Looks like you may be worth something after all. When I get out of here, it's payback time. I'm gonna do Rafe like I did that old lady... [Chuckles] Assuming the DiMeras don't get to him first.
Rafe: Oh, what's going on? They let you go already?
Rafe: The police? They let you go?
Dario: What the hell are you talking about?
Taylor: I had to see you.
EJ: I, uh...
Taylor: EJ... what's going on? What--what-- what do you have under your coat?
Dario: Why do you think that the police are always gonna want me?
Rafe: Listen up. Now, I got a call about you from someone on the force. He said that-- you weren't arrested tonight, were you?
Dario: Do--do I look-- hell, no! You always expect the worst, don't you?
Rafe: Those bastards.
Dario: Now who are you talking about?
Rafe: Okay, listen, I need you to stay out of sight all night long. This is important, okay? I will let you know when it's clear.
Dario: W-why, Rafe? What's going on?
Rafe: Okay, that's what I'm gonna find out.
EJ: It's, uh... it's just, um... something that I-- it's not important. What are you doing back in Salem?
Taylor: Actually, um... I never left. I took a hotel room near the airport.
EJ: Why did you tell everybody that you'd gone?
Taylor: You know, there's so much that I need to explain.
EJ: Yes, absolutely. But not here. Come with me, please.
Taylor: No, no, no. No. You come with me.
Don't stop what you do
[Knock at door]
Jennifer: He came back. Uh, it's open! Come on in!
Maggie: No, no, no. I'm at Jennifer's right now. Uh, yeah. No, I just want to make sure that the workmen are all standing by to start tomorrow. Okay, thanks. Bye-bye.
Maggie: Hi. So, apparently, the fire wasn't all that bad. Little scary, though. Anyway, um, as I drove by earlier on my way to chez rouge, I saw Daniel's car in the driveway. But as I was heading back home, I noticed that it was gone.
Jennifer: Yeah. That's because the date is over.
Maggie: So soon? Well, what happened? Did he have an emergency?
Jennifer: Uh, yeah, you could say that. His emergency was getting away from me.
Melanie: Wow. I thought you would be home a lot later. What happened to your date?
Daniel: Well, I got called to the hospital, and-- nothing, really. I don't know.
Melanie: You just called it a night?
Daniel: Uh...[Chuckles] Well, I could have went back to Jennifer's, I guess, yeah. But, uh, I really didn't want to just bother her like that. I just... I mean, tonight-- I don't know-- was a little strange for me, but, uh...
Melanie: Why, 'cause of the divorce?
Daniel: Well, you know, just that and some other things, really. Uh, but, anyway, you know, I just realized that she's gonna, uh, need some time, and we're gonna take things slowly, really, just, you know, for her sake, really.
Dario: Better not be in there, Melanie. [Exhales deeply]
Adrienne: Oh! There you are.
Dario: Yeah, uh, I forgot to sign out when I left.
Adrienne: Oh, yeah, jimmy said that when your shift was over here, you were out of here like a shot, that it had something to do with Melanie. What's going there?
Rafe: How's it going?
Sami: Better now.
Rafe: Oh. Mm. You okay?
Sami: Yeah, I'm good. Where have you been?
Rafe: Almost getting caught.
EJ: [Sighs] Look, uh... I'm sorry. I'm--I'm just having... a little bit of a tough time... understanding that you were here all along. I thought I was never going to see you again. No explanation, no good-bye?
Taylor: I know. I know. I didn't want to go. I just--I... I just told everyone that I'd left, and I shut off my phone. I had to make sure that everyone thought that I was gone, especially Nicole.
EJ: That I understand! That I get! But...
Taylor: EJ, I had to see you. I just--I had to see you.
Taylor: Why? Why? Because nothing has changed for me, the way that I feel. I can't get you out of my head. I can't get you out of my heart. I have never, ever felt this kind of connection with someone before, and I cannot explain it. I love you. And the terrible things that Nicole has on you... it does not change the way I feel. She can't take what we feel away from each other. You are changing. You're changing. And I love the man that you were becoming. And I want to be with you.
Gus: You haven't been yourself for quite some time. You've changed.
Vivian: You're right, Gus. I'm not myself. The wonderfully loving Vivian Alamain of yesteryear seems to have vanished like a dream and... [Chuckles] I don't know if she's ever coming back.
Chloe: Come on, I want to see it. Is it something off of Facebook?
Quinn: Uh, no, no. It's a, uh... it's a personal video. It's private.
Chloe: Oh, private. Well, I definitely want to see it now.
Quinn: Well, you'll see it later--not tonight.
Chloe: Thank you.
Quinn: Tonight is about us having a terrific evening.
Chloe: Sounds good to me.
Quinn: Mm-hmm. From the few, uh, things that you've said, I know you've been through some tough times lately. But guess what. Tonight... I'm gonna wine you, dine you, and make you smile that beautiful smile. How does that sound?
Chloe: Sounds amazing. Sounds like you're just the guy I need.
Dario: I don't know what jimmy's talking about.
Adrienne: Well, so your forgetting to sign out had nothing to do with Melanie?
Justin: Honey, maybe, uh, Dario would prefer to keep his private life private.
Adrienne: [Scoffs] It's just a question.
Dario: Well, I'm telling you, Melanie wouldn't make me leave here or anyplace. I don't care about her one way or the other.
Adrienne: Well, Dario, you saved the girl's life.
Dario: Yeah, but that was about my sister... Arianna. Um, look, I-I'll see you later, okay, boss?
Adrienne: Okay. [Chuckles] I think the boy doth protest too much. [Chuckles]
Melanie: So I was thinking after I finish filling out this application, we could... hi, dad? You... we thinking about Jennifer right now?
Daniel: What? No, no, I'm just enjoying a little down time, that's all. It's--that's it.
Melanie: Yeah. Uh, look, I'm sorry you got called to the hospital, but did you guys have a good time at least?
Daniel: Yeah, no, we did. You know, I really like Jennifer. I do, but she's just-- she's real, right? She's funny. She's got a good sense of humor.
Daniel: But I got to tell you, something was just-- tonight it was off, and-- you know what I mean?
Daniel: Off, yeah. I mean, I was--I was-- I don't know--I was not comfortable, and I'm sure she wasn't and just, I'm-- I don't know. She's probably glad that I had to leave.
Jennifer: I don't know. Aunt Maggie, I don't know why I pushed so hard. I mean, why did I have to glam it up like that?
Maggie: Oh, you stop it, Jennifer. You were beautiful.
Jennifer: No, I-I was completely desperate. I mean, he probably looked at me and went, "whoa, this woman is so needy, forget it."
Maggie: Just because you weren't in--in sweatpants and a t-shirt?
Jennifer: Well, he didn't stick around, did he? You know what? I-I should be so mad at him. I-I should never want to see him ever again, because when he left, he didn't even say, "hey, Jennifer, you know, I'll call you," or, "I'll be back," or, "I can't wait to see you again." How wrong is that?
Maggie: Hmm. Jennifer, I-I wasn't there.
Jennifer: I know, but I just told you what happened, Aunt Maggie.
Maggie: Yeah, I know, but that's your version. I just have a feeling that you may be overreacting.
Jennifer: No, I am not overreacting. Daniel made it very clear that I am not his type of woman. But you know what? That's his prerogative, and that is totally fine. But I am not gonna wallow in self-pity for one more minute. If he doesn't want to see me anymore, that's fine. That's the way the cookie crumbles. And you know what? I'm fine now.
Jennifer: I got it off my chest, and I feel good now. And I'm fine.
Jennifer: And I hope that creep never calls me again.
Rafe: It was a detective that I know who made the phony call. I'll tell you something-- it has DiMeras written all over it. Now they wanted to get me down to that pier, trap me, corner me.
Sami: You think they were gonna--
Rafe: Kill me? Maybe they were gonna try. It also crossed my mind that maybe they were gonna do something to you while they had me trapped down there.
Sami: Well, you can't worry about that. I mean, you have to focus on the fact that you can't get caught. I mean, I can't believe this, that you have to pretend to be the creature, and... and I haven't been able to stop thinking about what happened, what he did.
Rafe: Yeah. Well, it's about time I paid him another visit. Maybe this time, he'll be more inclined to talk.
Sami: Really? After everything that happened last time, I don't know that he's gonna say much more.
Rafe: Well, maybe I can offer him some sort of incentive, like a one-way ticket out of town.
Sami: You're gonna let him go?
Rafe: No, I'm not gonna let him go. Hell, no. He's going to prison just like the DiMeras. I can lie with the best of 'em.
Sami: Sounds like fun. Let's go. There's no "let's" in this.
[Knock at door]
Sami: This is something I'm doing alone. You expecting someone?
Sami: Um... uh, no. Rafe! What do you mean? We have to--
Gabi: Look, Rafe, I've been thinking about this a very long time, and I think that we need to talk before things get worse, okay? We're a family, and we're totally in this together.
Rafe: Okay, can I just say that now is not really a good time? Can this wait?
Gabi: No! No, this cannot wait at all!
Sami: Look, Gabi, I'm sorry, but we can't do this right now.
Taylor: What? What?
EJ: Stop, stop, stop.
Taylor: What? What? What is--what is wrong? What's wrong?
EJ: I want this so much!
Taylor: Okay, so?
EJ: I don't deserve you.
Taylor: Okay, that is not true.
EJ: It is. I wish it weren't... but it is. I have made you... so many promises. "I'm gonna be a better man. I'm gonna leave my old life behind me." And I really--I really thought they were true. I went down to that pier tonight... to do something... terrible... evil. I haven't changed. I haven't changed a bit.
Quinn: So--so there we were, sliding down the hill with nothing to stop us, the headmaster waiting for us at the bottom, and my roommate yells out, "hey, Quinn, really cool ride, mate."
Chloe: Oh, my god. Did you get punished?
Quinn: Are you kidding? They wanted to expel us both. I had to do some fast talking to the committee on sins and abuses, let me tell you.
Chloe: Amazing. Did your parents travel a lot or something?
Chloe: Well, all these stories you're telling me are at boarding school. Couldn't you live at home and go to a local school sometimes?
Quinn: I have bored you with enough stories about me. Let's get back to what makes Chloe lane tick.
Chloe: Oh, I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry. I guess maybe I'm just a little sensitive lately about stories about parents and children being separated.
Quinn: Why's that?
Chloe: [Sighs] Well, I might as well tell you. It's hardly a secret anyway. I lost custody of my baby son.
Quinn: Really? Uh... that's terrible. I-I had no idea.
Chloe: Yeah, well, I did some really stupid things. Um, but now everything I do is just to make sure that I can get him back and that I can help raise him and be a part of his life.
Quinn: Hey. Well, good for you, Chloe. If there's anything I can do to help, you will let me know, won't you?
Maggie: Okay, that's it-- not another bite ever for the rest of my life.
Jennifer: No. Aunt Maggie, we're not even finished. I have root beer in the fridge. Let's have a root beer float.
Maggie: No, honey, honey, you go for it. Um, I got to get out of here before I pop.
Jennifer: Okay, but you're gonna feel bad, 'cause I'm gonna eat my way into oblivion without you.
Maggie: Okay. Well, you have fun. And get a good night's sleep, will you, please? Don't worry about what didn't work out tonight. Everything will be fine in the morning.
Jennifer: Well, you know what? That's debatable. And it's also a moot point, because this whole dating game, it's over for me, every part of it.
Jennifer: Yep. I'm not dating Daniel or anyone else for that matter, starting right now, because I obviously put so much thought into having a relationship, and I always end up disappointed. So that's it--I'm done. Even if Daniel asks me on a date again, which is not gonna happen, he can forget it. I'm cutting my losses. I'm cutting my losses. It is not worth getting hurt.
Daniel: So w-what is this? You're not listing any specialty here?
Melanie: Well, no, I figure I'll study them all, and then, you know, when the time comes, I'll pick which one I like the most.
Daniel: That's my girl right there. And just think, you're gonna have a hospital I.D. That says "nurse practitioner." Be kind of like, you know...
Melanie: What's wrong?
Daniel: I, uh... I don't have my hospital I.D. I got way too many cards here. I'm so sorry, dude. Uh, you know what, man? Here, let me just pay you with some cash, okay?
Melanie: You lose it?
Daniel: Uh, no. No, I left it at Jennifer's. [Groans] I've got to go in for an early surgery.
Melanie: It's okay. It's not really that late. You could go back over.
Daniel: Oh, no, no, no, no. She's gonna think, uh...
Melanie: What, that you left it there on purpose?
Daniel: Yeah, of course. It's the oldest trick in the book--come on.
Melanie: Dad, all right. Okay, then, uh--then be cool. Call her and, uh, ask if she can come over early tomorrow to the hospital.
Daniel: No, can't do that. I'm talking, like, 6:00 A.M.
Melanie: Yeah, okay, here's the deal, dad. You have two options. You can, um, have her bring it early... or you can go over there right now.
Rafe 2: I got to make this happen. [Grunting]
Gabi: No, no. I will not tone it down, okay? I come over to you to talk to you, get things out in the open, to make peace, and you're just too busy? Who do you think you are? I mean, you're acting all weird like you don't give a damn about this family, and I'm supposed to take it? No, it's not gonna happen. And, you, you're just as bad as he is! You know what? Will deserves a better mom, if you're--if you're gonna be--
Sami: Gabi. Oh, my god.
Rafe: Whoa. Gabi? Gabi, you okay?
Taylor: What were you gonna do?
EJ: It--it doesn't matter, all right? The only thing that matters is that it was wrong, and I was absolutely ready to do it.
EJ: Because my life was in ruins! You left me! And then something came up, and... [Sighs]
Taylor: What? And what?
EJ: It involves... a certain person, and, uh... and it doesn't really matter what I say... because the only thing that matters are my actions. Yeah. I thought... I'd changed, but I was wrong. I was deceiving myself. I was deceiving you. I haven't changed. I haven't changed one bit. Just know that my love for you was real.
Jennifer: That is it. I have had it. No more dates, no more dressing up, no more expectations, no more high hopes. Aah! Oh, gosh! Ohh! Jennifer, what is wrong with you? Ohh!
[Broken glass clinking]
Melanie: Hey. Sorry, the elevator's loud. I figured you were coming off of it?
Melanie: Um, look, do you want to talk with me for a second?
Dario: Hey, if Brady and you have to lecture me about the evils of gambling--
Melanie: No, no, Brady's not in here. It's just me. Can we talk?
Melanie: I just want to straighten some stuff out with you.
Vivian: Oh, Gus, I told you I didn't want anything. Why do you keep pestering me?
Gus: Because you're not yourself. Please, at least talk to me.
Vivian: Don't you think history is unforgiving?
Gus: It is?
Vivian: Don't you just hate it when the past rears its ugly head and you have to answer for past actions and possible missteps?
Gus: Is this about what you've done to Carly manning?
Vivian: That stupid little fruit fly? God, no.
Gus: Is it about getting revenge on the people who locked you in the sarcophagus?
Vivian: Gus, I was the victim there. Why would I care what kind of suffering those little worms went through? No, it's something I suffered. It's a very deep wound, and it hasn't healed.
Gus: And now what?
Vivian: Well, I'm just going to face it... alone.
Chloe: Well, tonight was really terrific. I loved it, all of it, so thank you.
Quinn: I'm glad I got to see that smile. Are you sure you don't want me to call a cab?
Chloe: No, I'm fine. It's really a beautiful night. I think I should walk.
Quinn: All right. It was great seeing you.
Chloe: Yeah, outside of a bed. Who knew?
Quinn: I told you I'd be a perfect gentleman.
Chloe: Yes, you did, and you were, so thank you again.
Sami: Gabi? Can you hear us?
Rafe: Hey, sis, you okay?
Gabi: I don't feel so good.
Sami: Oh, god. Maybe she should breathe into a paper bag or something.
Rafe: No, I'm gonna get her to a hospital.
Sami: Okay, okay. Oh, my god.
EJ: Look, I'm probably never gonna see you again, all right? The last thing that I want is you thinking that I'm going off to do this terrible thing. You did change me. I will always try to hold on to that... the good... that came from loving you.
Taylor: I am not letting you leave.
EJ: Did you not listen to what I just told you?
Taylor: Yeah, I listened. You told me what you were thinking, and you didn't do it, and you've promised that you won't. That means that everything you talked about, all that change-- it is real. And it's real enough for me.
EJ: Is it, Taylor? Is it?
Taylor: Yes. Stay with me. Stay--stay with me.
Dario: So... what's this about?
Melanie: I just want to talk.
Melanie: Okay, look, if you hadn't have been so pushy about Arianna's killer, he'd still probably be free, not to mention the fact that you saved my life, so, obviously, I owe you.
Melanie: Uh, my dad said something to me that kind of got me thinking. He said if there are people in your life that you care about, even just as friends, you should show them respect.
Dario: So you're gonna treat me with respect?
Melanie: I'm trying. Um, but you and I kind of run hot and cold.
Dario: I don't know what that means.
Melanie: Yeah, you do. So what do you-- what do you want from me? Are we friends? Or do you want to be something more?
Jennifer: Here you go. Here's A...
Daniel: All right.
Jennifer: Here's a bag to put that in.
Daniel: Okay, we're almost there. I've got most of it here.
Jennifer: Um, can I... can I just ask you something real quick?
Jennifer: I was just wondering why you came back.
Daniel: Oh, because I, uh, forgot my hospital I.D., And I got my credit cards on the table in the foyer there.
Jennifer: Oh. I, um... I have those for you.
Jennifer: Let me just, um, get them, and... then we can just say good night. Why are you looking at me like that? I know. I know. I'm a total mess. It's--it's so typical for me. Um, but, you know, I was dressed up earlier, and I thought I looked really good, and you didn't... anyway, I'm sorry. You know what? It's root beer. It's just root beer.
Daniel: You are incredibly charming...
Daniel: And unbelievably irresistible, and if--if-- which is why if I am alone with you for one more minute, it's-- uh, no, this is not gonna be a good idea. [Whistles] Yeah. I'm gonna go. [Clears throat]
Maxine: Your sister's fine. They're gonna keep her for a couple more hours, though, to be safe, get her to drink some fluids, and then she'll be good to go.
Rafe: She's sleeping now, right?
Maxine: She is.
Rafe: Okay, great. Just call will and Dario and let 'em know. Oh, my god, my cell phone is dead.
Maxine: I'll call 'em for you. Here, give me the numbers.
Rafe: Maxine, you are the best. Thank you.
Maxine: In a real hurry tonight, huh?
Rafe: Yeah, well... anyway, I have somewhere to be.
Adrienne: Honey, you saw the look on Chloe's face. Her world was complete to be able to hold her baby again.
Justin: Yeah. Philip was good about allowing the visit.
Adrienne: Because you pushed it.
Justin: Because you pushed me.
Adrienne: Well, when it comes to a mother and her son...
Justin: You really miss the boys, don't you?
Adrienne: I got a text from sonny today. He's thinking about coming to town for a visit.
Justin: Yeah, don't hold your breath. He's made that promise before.
Adrienne: Well, yeah, but the semester's over. I just really hope he can make it.
Justin: Then I do, too.
Adrienne: Listen, you... I am happier than I ever have been since we got back together. But I won't be complete...
Justin: Until you have the whole family here.
Adrienne: [Chuckles] Mm-hmm. Oh, honey. Mm.
[Cell phone rings]
Chloe: Hello. Yeah, of course. Yes, from social services. Hi, how are you? You think the visit with parker went well? That's great. I think so, too. And I'm hoping there'll be some more soon? You do? Oh, that is so great to hear. Thank you. Yes, thank you so much. I really appreciate you calling me and telling me this. Okay, bye. Yes, yes, yes! This is great. This is only the beginning. Nothing's gonna stop me from getting parker back.
Vivian: And sure enough, it happens.
Quinn: Good evening, Vivian.
Vivian: I was wondering when we were going to cross paths.
Dario: Well, Mel, with friends like you, who needs enemies?
Melanie: Wait, just... this is just a question. Are we friends, or do you want to be something more?
Dario: What do you think?
Daniel: Look, I got to--
Jennifer: Daniel, no, you don't have to go. You really don't.
Daniel: No, actually, I do.
Jennifer: No, you don't.
Daniel: God, you're sticky like flypaper.
Daniel: No, I really do have to go.
Daniel: Okay, listen, I-I respect you. I do. I really do. And I respect that it's difficult for you. I mean, you being single and just trying to make a new life for yourself. But, see, it's different for me, because I actually screwed somebody's life up, and I don't want to do that anymore. I hurt--I just hurt people, and I don't want to hurt you 'cause I respect you.
Jennifer: I know. You said that already.
Daniel: Did I? I said that?
Jennifer: Yes, you said that. And you know what? It's--it's really nice. It is, but I was just wondering.
Jennifer: Could you just... could you just take all that respect and just put it on the back burner for a little bit, and will you just stay with me, please?
Taylor: I've never been so happy.
EJ: I love you. I never want to be without you.
Taylor: You won't be... not anymore.
Caroline: Oh, you.
Rafe: Where's Sami?
Sami: Hey, piece of garbage, I--
Rafe 2: Hey, babe.
Rafe 2: Mom, can I help? Of course you can.
Vivian: Quinn, this place is not big enough for both of us.
Rafe: Where the hell did she go?
Rafe 2: Say good night.
