Nicole: You are definitely gonna want to hear this, Taylor. And I know it will sound surprising, considering some of the things that I've said lately, but nothing's true forever, right, EJ?
Taylor: Um... I-I-I don't know what you-- what you mean.
Nicole: Well, EJ and I-- we had one of those heart-to-hearts, you know, that married couples have sometimes, and we decided that-- that things have been slipping, and what we need to do is--is find some nice, hot, sexy romance in our relationship. And what better way to do it than go on the honeymoon that we never had? And we're gonna be leaving right away. Isn't that wonderful?
Taylor: Um, yeah, that's-- um, it's really great. It's--it's good for-- it's good for both of you. You know what? I got a lot of things that I need to do, so I'm gonna-- I'm just gonna head out-- no, it's okay. Please, just don't. Just don't!
Nicole: Taylor? Taylor, honey, are--are you okay?
Taylor: Yeah. No, I'm fine. I'm fine. I just, um--I've got a lot of stuff to do at titan and work. I-I-I got to go.
Nicole: No, no, no, no, no. Don't. Come on, you can't leave. Y-you're my sister. I want you to stay and celebrate with EJ and me. Look, how about a little toast? And then I'll tell you all about our plans for our long honeymoon.
Taylor: Okay, listen, Nicole, I can't, okay? I got to--
Nicole: I am not taking "no" for an answer. You're staying.
Rafe: There's a place. I know it's important to me.
Sister Rose: You remembered something?
Rafe: In a dream... this key. It's gonna take me where I need to go.
Rafe #2: So Sami's at the safe house, but where the hell's that? Oh, good. The brats will know. Then I can get that damn bank card. Well, hey. Good thing you guys showed up.
Will: What is it?
Rafe #2: [Sighs] It's life and death, man. Your mom and I need help, and if we don't get it, we're gonna lose everything.
EJ: Nicole, I really don't think that we need to bore Taylor with the details of our little trip...
Nicole: Oh, I don't think bored is how Taylor feels--
EJ: Especially as there are none, because we have barely discussed it.
Nicole: You know what? You're right. But Taylor reads all those travel magazines. I mean, you know where all the hot spots are for lovers, right?
Taylor: You know, I can-- I-I cannot help you. Excuse me. I'm sorry.
Nicole: No. Why? Wait.
EJ: Was that really necessary?
Nicole: Hmm? What? She's--she's my sister. Why wouldn't I want to include her in planning our romantic honeymoon?
EJ: You know, I was going to be very generous with you. I was going to treat you with a certain amount of respect... not anymore.
Nicole: What are you gonna do, EJ? You gonna huff, puff, and blow my house down? [Inhales sharply] Mm, no. You're gonna do exactly as I say. You are gonna stay married to me for the rest of your life.
Taylor: Oh, my God. This can't be happening. You don't think it's possible for EJ to love anyone?
Nicole: No, I don't.
EJ: Taylor, I've never felt this way before about anybody. I really--I didn't know that I could. And despite the fact that this is incredibly painful, I've never felt more at peace. I know that this is something that I want for the rest of my life.
Taylor: EJ, I'm scared.
EJ: I know. Listen, you promised that you would have faith in me, so just let me take care of everything, okay?
Taylor: What happened?
EJ: So you really want to remain in a loveless, contentious marriage... when I would give you anything you want, hmm? Full access to the children, more money than you could spend in a lifetime. Why?
Nicole: I'm not ready to give you up yet. And if I change my mind, I'll let you know.
EJ: Nicole, you should probably just pause for a second...
EJ: And think about your other rather dismal attempts at blackmail.
Nicole: Dismal attempts? EJ, DNA is fail-proof, honey. You should get used to that, okay?
EJ: Yes, but, sweetheart, you're a conniving bitch. Why would anybody believe you?
Nicole: [Chuckles] Is this where you're gonna stomp your feet and yell real loud? 'Cause that will be fun. Okay, so since you don't want me to call Sami and tell her what you did to Rafe, how about we call... her daddy, the commander, hmm? No? Ooh, I think her uncle should know--the commissioner. That'd be great. You ready? Now, what is that number? It is--
Rafe #2: Well, I tried everything. You know, I tried to make up for all the mistakes with your mom, Will, but now there has been a total misunderstanding, and I need your help.
Gabi: Okay, well, what does that mean, Rafe?
Rafe #2: Well, what do you think it means? I blew it. But I can fix this. I just--I just need to talk to her, and I can make this work.
Will: Well, do you know where she is?
Rafe #2: Yeah, I'm, like, almost 1,000% sure she's at the safe house--the place we first met.
Rafe #2: Yeah, really. But, uh, thing is, since the accident, I can't remember stuff like addresses and whatnot. So, uh, you know, she told you about the place, right?
Will: Yeah, of course.
Rafe #2: So you know where it is... exactly?
Sami: Everything was right here. It was perfect. Well... I guess it didn't start out perfectly. You know, if you really don't want to work with me that badly, you could just quit altogether, go into another profession entirely, you know. You could sell insurance.
Rafe: Okay. I just want to do this job and get it over with and move on.
Sami: So I guess you're stuck with me.
Rafe: No, Princess... you're stuck with me.
Sami: Oh! Get off!
Rafe: Don't even think about it.
Sami: [Sighs] [Chuckles] [Sighs] He was always able to save me from myself. Why couldn't I do the same for him?
Taylor: EJ was so sure the whole divorce was gonna be a win-win. Why the sudden reversal?
EJ: You know, you really are quite unbearable when you think that you're in control.
Nicole: I don't think, EJ. I know.
EJ: So what in the world happened to you, anyway? Let me ask, hmm?
Nicole: [Clears throat]
EJ: You'd just been sitting on this? How did you know that I was going to ask you for a divorce?
Nicole: Woman's intuition.
EJ: Is that right?
EJ: Let me tell you something. You may think that you are in the driver's seat right now, but, uh... that will change. See, you already played your, uh... your wild card. So why don't we just stop for a second, before we get ahead of ourselves, and consider what exactly a marriage between you and I would really look like?
Nicole: A very... committed and monogamous one. You and me, baby-- we are growing old together!
Rafe: It wasn't just a dream. W-when I looked at the--the medal, the one from the convent of the holy cross in Salem.
Sister Rose: Yes.
Rafe: Well, when I looked at it, I had, um, all kinds of memories... or--or at least images that came into my head.
Sister Rose: What did you see?
Rafe: I saw an apartment. But I know that it was near the convent, because every time I saw the apartment, I heard these church bells.
Sister Rose: Yeah, but how do know it was that church?
Rafe: I don't. I just... it's a feeling. I need your help.
Sister Rose: I'll do whatever I can for you.
Rafe: Will you take me to the convent of the holy cross in Salem? I mean, I feel like this key-- it's the answer. If I can get there, then I can-- maybe I can figure out who I am or if someone's looking for me.
Will: Uh, no, I'm sorry. I don't know the safe house address.
Rafe #2: What?
Will: Yeah, uh, my mom talked to me about it, but she never told me where it was exactly.
Rafe #2: Well, that's great. It's just not helping me, Will, at all.
Will: Yeah, I get that. Um, you know what you could do, though? Uh, how about you call my grandfather? Because he might know. And, uh, give him a little call--
Rafe #2: No, you know what? I think I'm too upset right now. And I need to go outside for some fresh air. So why don't you call Roman? Thanks. For crying out loud, like I need to talk to that old wind bag. Can't understand what the hell he's saying anyway. I'll tell you what I need. I need to get that address, I need to get that bank card, I need to get the hell out of this town.
Nicole: Oh, come on, don't get me wrong, EJ. When I say "monogamous," I don't mean that you'll be in my bed, 'cause I know that you have a tendency to find alternative pleasures. You are not gonna humiliate me, okay? Not taking it with a smile anymore. That's gonna be your job.
EJ: [Laughing] You're not good enough to pull this off.
Nicole: No? Really?
Nicole: You don't think so? Well, you'd better think about that, long and hard... unless you--you think you might have a choice in the situation. Want to tell me about that?
Nicole: I'm waiting. I mean, if you have a way out of not doing what I say, then please speak up. Tell me about it. No? EJ DiMera is speechless? Ha!
EJ: Fine. For right now, I will concede to your unfair and pathetic demands.
Nicole: Oh, you bet your ass you will... because we, EJ, are going to be inseparable. Hmm. That was nice. Thank you. I'm gonna go get Sydney. She's in the kitchen with Mary. And then I'm gonna bring her out here, and we are gonna spend some quality time together before bedtime. How's that sound? If you'll excuse me for a minute...
EJ: [Sighs] Taylor. [Sighs]
[Knock at door]
EJ: Taylor? May I come in?
Taylor: Yeah. You want to tell me what the hell's going on?
Rafe #2: Will ever get that address?
Gabi: He's talking to his grandfather.
Rafe #2: Okay, good.
Gabi: Hey, are you--are you okay?
Rafe #2: Am I okay? Yeah, I'm fine. I just, uh--I need to get that address so that I can make up with my wife.
Gabi: Look, do you want to talk about it?
Rafe #2: No. No.
Gabi: Okay. So what is it this time, Rafe?
Rafe #2: Yeah, I think I said I don't want to talk about it.
Gabi: Well, I think that you should.
Rafe #2: I think I don't want to, okay? Did you not understand me?
Gabi: Would you stop being such a jerk? I mean, I'm your sister, and I care about what's happening! And if I ask you a question, you answer me--that's our deal!
Rafe #2: That's the deal? Let me tell you what the deal is. You stay the hell out of my business, okay? You got it? That's the deal.
Sami: [Sighs] [Crying] This whole stupid family is gonna destroy my child's future.
Rafe: Uh... that's why you didn't tell anybody.
Sami: I was going to. I mean, I was actually gonna do it right that day--the day that I saw the mayor shot and--and-- and the hit man, and--and now he can I.D. me. And now I'm stuck in this place with this guy who hates me.
Rafe: I never said that I hated you.
Sami: [Normal voice] He took it all in stride. And he loved me anyway. I want him back. God, I want Rafe back. How could he change so much?
[Church bells tolling]
Rafe: Those are the same bells. I know they are.
Sister Rose: Okay, I believe you, but just let me do the talking here.
Rafe: Okay. Okay.
Sister Rose: Behave.
Rafe: Sister. Do you know who I am?
Sister Rose: Sister Barbara, yes?
Sister Barbara: Yes.
Sister Rose: I called you earlier from the car.
Sister Barbara: Sister Rose, yes, of course.
Sister Rose: I explained to you how this man came to our convent, but that's all I know about him, and it's all he knows about himself.
Rafe: Except I know that I've been here before--to this very convent or--or near here. Do I look familiar to you?
Sister Barbara: I'm sorry. No, you don't.
Nicole: It's okay, Mary. Just let her finish her ice cream. Till death do us part. You son of a bitch.
EJ: Look, Taylor... I-I-I cannot apologize enough for what happened.
Taylor: I don't want an apology. I want to know what happened. Is it true what Nicole said? Are you going on a honeymoon? You're not in love with her, are you?
Taylor: Answer me, EJ. EJ, a few hours ago, you told me that you've never felt like this about anyone before.
EJ: I haven't, about anybody... Taylor.
Taylor: You told me you were gonna ask Nicole for a divorce tonight. EJ, are you staying with Nicole?
EJ: Yes, I-I am.
Taylor: This is crazy. This is crazy, EJ. You--you did this to me. You did this to me. You came after me. You broke me down. You did everything that you could to make me love you. And as much as I knew that it was wrong and we would be hurting my sister and disrupting your kids' already disrupted lives... and we could possibly be making a huge mistake that we could never repair, you told me... to trust you. You asked me to let you handle it, and you told me that you would be asking Nicole for a divorce so you could be with me. And that it would be best for everyone. And now this? Now this? Now nothing? God, you son of a bitch! Why? Why? No.
Nicole: Hey, Lexie.
Lexie: Are you okay?
Nicole: [Scoffs] Yeah. Better than I've been in a long time.
Lexie: Nicole, um... you don't have to pretend with me, okay?
Nicole: Pretend? What do you mean?
Lexie: I know this is a hard time for you.
Nicole: Yeah, you mean losing my mother so suddenly.
Lexie: Well, yeah, of course, but, um, I also meant... well, my brother and you-- I know things are...
Nicole: Things are great with EJ. I mean, I was just sitting here thinking about our honeymoon.
Lexie: Wait. What? Why would you go on a honeymoon? I thought you two were...
Nicole: What--splitsville? Now, Lexie, why on earth would you think that?
Sister Barbara: I'm new here, and the other nuns who have been here longer are on retreat.
Rafe: Retreat from a convent?
Sister Rose: I know this is frustrating.
Rafe: Oh, my... how--how about this? How about this key? Does that look familiar to you?
Sister Barbara: As a matter of fact, yes.
Sami: I did it.
Rafe: [Slurring] Fantastic.
Sami: Yeah. Man, you didn't scream or anything.
Rafe: [Chuckles] This definitely helps.
Sami: Look, I'm really sorry, but you're gonna have the ugliest scar ever.
Sami: Just hold still a second.
Rafe: Ah, scar, schmar. You know what? You know, I'm gonna consider this scar--it's gonna be a souvenir of the incredible time that we spent together.
Sami: Rafe... I th--I think your fever broke. I think we won.
Rafe: Thank you. Thanks.
Sami: I was able to save him then. And now I can't. I can't, because the man I love is gone. What is that?
Taylor: No, what happened since this afternoon, EJ? What?
EJ: Everything. It's over. I'm sorry.
Lexie: Does my brother know about this honeymoon?
Nicole: Of course he knows. I just told him.
Nicole: Look, I don't know why you're acting so stunned, Lexie. But whatever you think you know, you don't know. I got to go. EJ and I have a special night planned--family night.
EJ: Look, you know who my family is. You know about my past! I'm not a good person, Taylor, all right? And I've done some things, okay? Things that I can't undo! And that is why I can't be with you! As much as I-I want you to be with me, to be a part of my family, to be with my children, I just--you have to understand. It just isn't gonna work!
Taylor: Okay, stop it, EJ. Just stop speaking in code. Stop it. What--what are these things that you have done that are gonna keep us apart? Huh, what? W-what is it? Why does it matter now? It didn't matter to you three hours ago. EJ... talk to me. After everything that I have done... how I opened my heart to you and everything that I put on the line to love you... EJ, at the very least, you owe me an explanation.
EJ: You're right. I do.
Gabi: Rafe, what is going on with you?
Rafe #2: Nothing's going on with me. But I'll tell you, every time I turn around, you're always up in my face. You're up in my business. This isn't kid stuff, okay? Just stay out of my way!
Will: Hey! Rafe! What the hell are you doing?
Rafe #2: Nothing. Nothing. Nothing happened. I'm just--this whole thing gets me so upset. I'm sorry. Did you get the address?
Will: Yeah. He had to go through some old files to get it, but... okay. You're welcome. [Softly] Jerk. Are you okay? I'm sorry. Did you see the way he just grabbed that piece of paper away from me?
Gabi: Why'd you even get it for him?
Will: I don't know. I... I guess I'm just stupid enough to want him to make up with my mom because she's so miserable without him. But... [Chuckles] What's the point, though, really? Because it's not him she's miserable without, you know? It's the old Rafe, the one who was nice, you know, smart, cool, not a--
Gabi: Not a sick creep like he is now? Will, I hate him. I never want to see him again.
Woman: Shh. I know. I know, sweetie, you're hungry.
Woman: Okay, okay, we're home now. Mommy's going to make you a bottle, okay? Shh.
[Door opens, closes]
Taylor: [Softly] What?
EJ: I owe you a great deal. But I-I-I can't tell you--
Taylor: Mm-mm, mm-mm.
EJ: No, I can't--I can't tell you... anything. I am so sorry that it's come to this--
Taylor: You're a coward. You're a coward.
EJ: No, please.
Taylor: Don't touch me.
EJ: Look, I never meant to hurt you.
Taylor: Well, you did. You did, and you played me. Oh, my God.
EJ: No, Taylor, I did not! I didn't!
Taylor: You reeled me in. You did everything you could. You made me believe that you were gonna turn yourself inside out to be with me! And now that the moment of truth with Nicole is staring you in the face, you can't do it.
EJ: I am so sorry, Taylor, but--
Taylor: You're sorry? You're sorry? You think I want to hear that you're sorry? You misled me, EJ, from-- from the first moment you said, "I feel something, don't you feel it, too?" God, it was all a game to you. I buried my mother, EJ. She fell down the stairs in your home, your family home. And she died because of it. And then I let you comfort me. And I believed you when you said that you would fix things with my sister... so we could be together. God, you are a liar, EJ. Oh, my God, and I am a fool.
EJ: Taylor, I know you don't believe this right now, but everything I ever told you was true. It still is.
Taylor: No. No, don't. It's too late.
EJ: Taylor... please.
Taylor: Leave me alone.
Nicole: EJ... honey... you going somewhere?
Rafe: Anything you can tell me about that key would help so much.
Sister Barbara: Some of our parishioners live in a converted factory building around the corner on elm. It's the only apartment building in the area.
Rafe: Oh, my God, I owe you. Thank you. Sorry. I owe you so much.
Sister Rose: Wait...
Rafe: Thank you.
Sister Rose: I'm not gonna let you go alone.
Rafe: No, no, no, you have to let me go, because the people who are after me, they may find me, and it could be dangerous. So thank you. Thank you.
Rafe: What, did he just kick?
Sami: Yeah, that was a strong one.
Rafe: Yeah, well, he's doing karate in there or something. Never felt anything like that before. Um, yeah, doctor, the baby is definitely still moving. He just kicked.
Sami: We were so happy. We took care of each other right from the start. But I can't help him now. And he sure as hell doesn't want to help me. And nothing... nothing is safe... anymore. Nothing is ever gonna be the-- [Crying] [Sobbing]
Nicole: Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm. You seem agitated.
EJ: I wonder if that could be because you are in my presence. What do you think?
Nicole: Kind of sucks not getting what you want, doesn't it? I'm not letting you use your kids as pawns again to get what you want. Is that, uh... is that what's upsetting you? Hmm? Not letting you pull me from Johnny and Sydney's life like some unwanted weed in your garden. Is that what's making you grumpy?
EJ: You need to start listening to reason, sweetheart.
Nicole: Reason? Oh, what, your stupid little bargain--letting me visit the kids and lining my pockets with your family's dirty money so that I stay quiet?
EJ: My family's money would have taken care of you for the rest of your life.
Nicole: You are a liar.
Nicole: You're a liar. You lie. You lie to anyone...
EJ: I am a liar. Oh, I am a liar.
Nicole: And everyone, as long as it suits you. You're lying to me right now, just like you lied to Sami.
EJ: Well, you'd know.
Nicole: Maybe I would. You told her you wanted to make peace for the sake of the kids. Meanwhile, you're doing something disgusting, God knows what, to Rafe to ruin their marriage and to turn the kids against him. I am never gonna let you do that to me. And you know what, EJ? You may want to strangle me right now. But if anything happens to me-- anything--tonight, tomorrow night, or even next year, I will take the proof that I have of what you did to Rafe, and I will take it to the police and then to Sami. You lost, EJ. And your consolation prize... is me.
Sydney: No, I want daddy!
Mary: Sorry to interrupt. Sydney was wondering if you could read her a bedtime story.
EJ: Hey, my sweet little girl. Of course I will read you a story. Which one?
Sydney: This one.
EJ: This one? Come here. Oh, we got you. Okay, what do we have here? [Sighs] Here we go. Ah. Can we see the bird? [Sighs] Can you see the squirrel? Where's the squirrel? There it is. "Beautiful dreamer... [Continues indistinctly] Starlight and dew drops are waiting for thee."
Nicole: Hey, you're home now, Sydney, huh? And everything is as it should be.
Sister Barbara: Ah, you're back already. Did you find what you're looking for?
Sami: [Crying] [Clears throat]
Sami: What the hell are you doing here? Get out!
Rafe: Who are you?
On the next “Days of Our Lives" --
Nicole: You're the reason she left. She knew that you couldn't stand her.
Taylor: I just need to get out of Salem.
Sami: You know who I am, damn it!
