Bo: Thanks for meeting me here, Kim, Louise. Uh, sorry I'm late. I got hung up at the station.

Louise: Well, we don't mind, right, Kim?

Hope: Bo.

Bo: Oh, hey, here they are.

Ciara: Why are you here?

Hope: Daddy and I asked Kim and Mrs. Marston to meet us, sweetheart.

Bo: We want to talk about what you told me earlier today.

Kim: I didn't dare Ciara to do anything! She's a big, fat liar.

Carly: Thank you. Weren't you here when I came in this morning?

Vivian: Oh, well, you see, I've developed a fondness for chai latte.

Carly: Be careful with that. It has caffeine in it. You might, uh, have unpleasant dreams.

Vivian: Oh, physician, heal thyself. That's a double espresso you've got there.

Carly: I'm on duty tonight.

Vivian: Well, we don't want the surgeon's hands to get too shaky.

Carly: I'm out of here.

Vivian: Oh, please, don't let me stop you.

Carly: Count on it.

Vivian: Good. Hello, darling. It's Auntie Viv. Yes, I know it's the middle of the night, but I just wanted to wish my wonderful grandnephew a Happy Birthday.

Carly: Nicholas? That witch has been talking to my son.

Nicole: Mom. Mom, I-I know you're trying to tell me something.

Fay: [Whimpering]

Nicole: Can you just say it again and--and try... try to speak a little more clearly.

Fay: E-e-- EJ...

Nicole: EJ--okay. Okay, what about EJ?

Fay: [Gasping] Se--se--se-- secret.

Nicole: EJ... secret? Mom, what do you--what do you mean? I don't--I don't know what you're trying to tell me.

Fay: [Whimpering]

Rafe 2: [Sighs, sniffs] [Laughing] "Dr. Overman... Pediatrics." Oh... mama would be so proud... finally... especially if she could see this handsome new grill the DiMeras paid for. Sorry, Fay. Can't have you messing things up for me... not now... not when I'm so close to payday. Dr. Overman... he's gonna have to stop you. Don't you worry. You won't feel a thing.

[Door beeps]

Orderly: What are you reading?

Rafe: Ah, it's just a... book the last guy left behind.

Orderly: I wouldn't bother. Didn't do him much good.

Rafe: Right.

Orderly: So you finally ate something.

Rafe: Yeah, I figured it was the sensible thing to do... now that I can keep my food down again.

Orderly: Yeah. Wouldn't want you wasting away to nothing.

[Door beeps]

[Door closes]

Rafe: Oh, I'm not wasting away, pal... not by a long shot.

Abe: So what's on your mind?

Taylor: [Sighs] Well... it's just some stuff doesn't add up.

Abe: Like Fay being left alone.

Taylor: The whole purpose of her moving into EJ's house was so there'd be someone with her all the time. And--and the notes that said she was sedated--well, apparently that wasn't the case.

Abe: What are you talking about?

Taylor: Nicole found the pills Mom was supposed to have taken that night.

Abe: Well, Fay has a mind of her own. Maybe she felt like she didn't need it.

Taylor: Nicole also found her phone downstairs.

Abe: Okay.

Taylor: So Mom must have called us from upstairs right before she fell. So what was her phone doing downstairs on a table?

Abe: Taylor... I think I know where you're going with this. And I want you to stop right now.

Fay: [Sobbing]

Nicole: Mom, can you tell me what the secret is?

Fay: The door--the door-- [Muttering]

Nicole: What?

Fay: Open...

Nicole: You--the door to your room?

Fay: [Muttering]

Nicole: Mom, this... someone... someone left your door open, Mom? Is that why you were walking around?

Fay: No! No...

Nicole: Okay, Mom, Mom. You're getting upset. It's not good for you. Mom, please! Look, I'm calling the nurse.

Fay: No, no! No nurse! No nurse! No! No. No nurse.

Nicole: Okay, okay, okay.

Rafe 2: See, Fay... Dr. Overman... he deals with life and death every day. He knows that some patients' deaths-- they can't be avoided... no matter what he does. Sorry to say, Fay... but you're one of those patients, honey. See, it's either you or me. [Chuckles] Sure as hell ain't gonna be me.

Maxine: Who are you? And what are you doing in here?

Bo: Ciara, why don't you tell all of us what you told me before?

Ciara: Me and Theo got in trouble for climbing the fence. But we did it because Kim dared us to.

Kim: I did not!

Ciara: You did too!

Kim: I'm nice to you! All the other kids make fun of you 'cause your mom went to jail!

Louise: Kim!

Hope: Well, um, I guess our idea isn't going to work.

Bo: Right. Um, sorry. Thanks for coming in this evening.

Louise: I'm sorry.

Bo: That's okay.

Louise: I really am.

Hope: It's okay.

Louise: Let's go.

Bo: Somewhere out there, a little five-, six-year-old boy playing with his toy dinosaurs, happy as can be, completely unaware that somewhere in his future Kim is waiting for him.

Hope: Sweetie... I didn't know the kids were still giving you a hard time about me.

Ciara: It's not as bad as before.

Hope: Sweetie, I'm so--I'm-- I'm so sorry.

Ciara: I don't care what they say.

Hope: You know what? I care. I do. It has to hurt.

Ciara: I just want you and Daddy to be happy. I don't want you to leave again.

Bo: Whoa. Nobody is going anywhere... except maybe you... over to Grandpa Doug's and Grandma Julie's tonight.

Ciara: I could still go?

Bo: Yeah, sure you can go.

Hope: Yeah, of course you can--in fact, you know what? Grandma Julie's gonna be here pretty soon. Hey, um... why don't you grab a piece of paper and some crayons, and you can make Grandma Julie a picture? Draw that tie you made for me this morning. It was great.

Ciara: Okay.

Hope: Okay. She knows I asked her to go do that so we could talk about this.

Bo: What's to talk about? Kim is a bratty little girl.

Hope: Every time she wants to push Ciara's buttons, she knows exactly what to do. I did that. I-I made that possible.

Bo: Oh, hey, hey, let's not go there.

Hope: [Sighs]

Bo: Ciara is tough. You heard her. She can handle those other kids, as long as she knows she got a happy family when she comes home.

Hope: Is that what she has?

Bo: Yeah. It's gettin' better all the time... right?

Hope: Yeah. Right.

Vivian: Oh, you like the Maserati? Well, you know, I was worried about the color. [Laughing] Oh, Nicholas, stop thanking me. Just enjoy it. You know what? Why don't you take a drive to-- oh, I don't know-- Saint-Tropez or Nice. You don't have to stay in Monte Carlo the whole time. Well, because there are all those predatory females there looking for a good catch like you.

Carly: Monte Carlo-- that's where he is.

Vivian: Yes, darling, I know. I know your father would be very proud of you. And it is difficult having a birthday without Lawrence. I know, you miss him as much as I do. That's why I'm so blessed to have you in my life. Oh... I love you too. [Laughs] Yes. Now, go back to bed... alone. [Laughs] Au revoir, darling. Oh. I thought you'd left.

Carly: I am so stupid.

Vivian: Well, I never thought of you that way.

Carly: It's no wonder I can't get Nicky to call me. You've been working him this whole time.

Vivian: He's my flesh and blood. He needs a mother figure now that he doesn't want anything to do with you.

Abe: Nicole's trying to make this your fault, isn't she?

Taylor: No, she's not.

Abe: Tell me the truth.

Taylor: She doesn't have to make me feel guilty, Abe. I already do. Someone should have been with Mom.

Abe: Honey... accidents happen. Those hallways at the DiMera house are dark. Theo fell down those damn stairs. Don't take this on yourself.

Taylor: I just don't know why this happened.

Abe: Well, the only one that does is Fay. And soon, she'll be able to explain the whole thing.

Maxine: I heard you talking to someone.

Rafe 2: Uh...[Chuckles] Yeah, that--that was me. I was working on my Travis Bickle.

Maxine: Your what?

Rafe 2: [Chuckles] You talkin' to me? Huh? You talkin' to me?

Maxine: Why don't you just tell me what you're doing in here?

Rafe 2: Uh... well, I was getting some supplies.

Maxine: Since when do they send residents to get supplies, doctor...Overman.

Rafe 2: Well... cutbacks--shorthanded.

Maxine: And what's with the mask?

Rafe 2: [Clears throat] I got a cold. I don't want those poor kids in the pediatric ward getting sicker than they already are.

Maxine: Okay. So what supplies are you after?

Rafe 2: What's it to you?

Maxine: You're gonna need keys if you want to get in the drug cabinet.

Rafe 2: Well, I'll tell you what I need. I need the frickin' nurses in this hospital to stop sayin' stuff like, "that ain't my job," when I tell them that I'm short on supplies. Maybe you can work on that for me.

Maxine: Maybe somebody needs to get over themselves.

Fay: [Whimpering]

Nicole: Mom, Mom, listen to me--listen! Listen, I know that you want to tell me something, okay? But the thing is, is that you're not so hot talking right now, okay? And I know--I know that is frustrating. But, listen, you're gonna get stronger, and it's gonna get easier, and then you can tell me everything that you want to say, Mom. I promise, okay? I promise.

[Monitor beeping rapidly]

Fay: [Gasping] I can't--can't...

Nicole: Mom! Mom!

Fay: Can't breathe.

Nicole: Mom! Mom!

Lexie: What happened?

Nicole: I don't know. She just said she can't breathe.

Lexie: Get a post ops reading.

Nicole: Mom...

Lexie: It's okay. It's okay. Nicole, wait outside! Wait outside! Wait outside, please! It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Calm down.

Nicole: Mom...

Lexie: Calm down.

Fay: [Gasping]

Taylor: Oh, God, something's wrong with Mom. What happened?

Nicole: Mom--Mom was trying to tell me something, and she couldn't get the words out of her mouth. And then she got panicky, and her heart monitor started going crazy.

Taylor: Is she having a heart attack?

Nicole: I don't know.

Taylor: Oh, my God.

Abe: No, no, no. Don't borrow trouble. Lexie's in there with her.

Taylor: But why did she get so scared? What is she afraid of?

Nicole: I don't know.

Taylor: Oh, God.

Carly: You're gonna poison my son the same as you poisoned his father.

Vivian: I did no such thing.

Carly: Spoiling him with sports cars and trips to the South of France, telling him that women only want him because of his money, painting Lawrence out to be some kind of martyred saint--what do you call that?

Vivian: The truth.

Carly: He knew what Lawrence was!

Vivian: He knew what you told him. Then you murdered his father, and he knew it was a pack of lies. He knows who the monster is.

Carly: No, you've forgotten-- you've forgotten how close Nicky and I were. I mean, he may hate me right now, but he knows how much I love him. And he's gonna see through you, and I'll be waiting there with open arms. I'm gonna get him back.

Vivian: You just keep telling yourself that.

[Line ringing]

Nicholas: Yeah?

Carly: Hey! Oh, you pi-- you picked up the phone. I-I thought when you saw my number--

Nicholas: What do you want?

Carly: Just--honey, I just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday. Didn't you get my messages?

Nicholas: It's 4:00 in the morning here, Mom.

Carly: Nicky, please don't hang up, please? There's so many things I need to say to you. Please listen.

Taylor: Lexie's been in there a long time.

Nicole: I thought EJ was out here with you. Where'd he go?

Taylor: He--he said he had a work problem to take care of.

Nicole: Taylor... the thing that Mom was trying to tell me... it was about EJ.

Taylor: What about him?

Nicole: Something about a secret. I don't--I don't know what she meant.

Taylor: Oh, she's kind of confused right now. I don't know--maybe she didn't mean anything.

Nicole: Yeah, well, she was desperate to tell me. God, I wish I knew what was going on in there. Oh.

Taylor: Here she is.

Nicole: Lexie... how's Mom?

Lexie: She's stable.

Nicole: Thank God. I was so scared.

Taylor: Yeah, we thought she was having a heart attack.

Lexie: No, no, she was just very agitated. The weird thing is, she didn't want to be sedated.

Nicole: Well, what did you do?

Lexie: Well, I managed to talk her into it. She's better now.

Taylor: Why wouldn't she want anything to calm her down?

Nicole: See, that--that-- that doesn't make any sense. I'm gonna get to the bottom of this.

Lexie: No, wait.

Nicole: Why?

Lexie: If you go in there and start badgering your mother, you're just going to get her more upset.

Nicole: She's already upset, Lexie, and I'm not gonna badger her!

Lexie: Okay, Nicole, she was just closing her eyes when I left, okay? Just let her get a good night's sleep.

Taylor: Nicole, she's right. Mom needs her rest.

Nicole: You want me to leave her in there alone all night? Forget it.

Rafe: [Breathing heavily] Ah, that's 20 more than I could do yesterday. [Sniffs] [Sighs] That's still not gonna be enough if I want to get out of here... figure out who I am.

Carly: Look, I know we haven't talked much.

Nicholas: You've got more time now, I guess, since Bo Brady dumped you.

Carly: That wasn't it. I just thought if I gave you time and space, you--you could understand what happened.

Nicholas: How am I supposed to understand that you murdered my father in cold blood?

Carly: Is that what Vivian's drilling into you?

Nicholas: Don't start on her.

Carly: Nicholas... you grew up seeing me with bruises and broken bones.

Nicholas: Then you should have left him, not murdered him.

Carly: He would have tracked me down. He would have--he would have made sure I lost you forever.

Nicholas: Well, that kind of happened anyway.

Carly: Can't we just talk about this? Can't--can't we just please, um, try to start over?

Nicholas: I don't know how. Suppose we did get together. What would I say? "Please pass the salt. Oh, and what was it like to watch my father die?"

Carly: You don't know how bad it was, okay? I need you to understand that I had no choice.

Nicholas: I don't have to do anything. I'm gonna hang up now, Mom. And don't call back. You're as dead to me as my father is.

Carly: Nicky, please don't hang up. Please don't hang up. I love you.

Rafe 2: Come on, doc... get 'em out of there.

Nicole: Mom really wanted to tell me something. And I think she would rest better once she told me whatever it is.

Lexie: Your mother's just been traumatized. Let her get a good night's sleep, okay? Whatever she has to say to you will come easier tomorrow.

Nicole: I'm gonna go call EJ.

Taylor: [Crying]

Lexie: Do you have any idea what your mother was so anxious to tell Nicole?

Taylor: Nicole said that, um... that Mom managed to say that EJ has come kind of a secret.

Lexie: My brother always has plenty of secrets. This could having nothing to do with you.

Taylor: She knew something was up with EJ, Lexie. She asked me if he was cheating on Nicole. If that's what she wants to tell Nicole, then...

Lexie: Ah, Nicole will have a fit. And that would be terrible for Fay right now. You have to get Nicole out of here.

Abe: How's Fay?

Lexie: She's stable. I'm trying to convince Taylor and Nicole to go home.

Nicole: EJ didn't pick up.

Abe: Look, why don't you go home and wait for him there?

Nicole: You too?

Lexie: Listen, I just got a message from admitting. They need your mother's insurance information. Do you have it?

Taylor: Uh, yeah. Yeah, I do.

Lexie: Okay, good. I'll show you where to go.

Taylor: Okay, uh, Nicole, should I meet you downstairs?

Nicole: Fine. But you better take care of her.

Lexie: I will.

Taylor: Okay. Bye.

Abe: You know, Fay's going to be okay.

Nicole: You promise?

Lexie: My wife's a very good doctor.

Nicole: It's just... I promised her that I would be the one to take care of her. And, yeah, I know you think I'm too selfish to take care of a houseplant. I know. But the thing is... I love my mom. And... I think we really made peace, finally.

Abe: That would mean the world to Fay.

Nicole: It means the world to me, Abe! [Sobbing] I just can't lose her now. I can't lose her. [Sobbing loudly]

Hope: Hey.

Bo: Hey.

Hope: I can't get used to seeing you in glasses.

Bo: Yeah, my... arm got a little too short.

Hope: I think they're sexy.

Bo: [Chuckling] Really?

Hope: I do. Well, um... sleep well in the new bed that I ordered.

Bo: Do you really want to continue sleeping in the guest room?

Hope: No. Yeah, I was just thinking... that...

Bo: What?

Hope: We can't just put our family back together because it's what Ciara wants. We have to want it.

Bo: I want you.

Hope: The new bed's comfortable.

Bo: [Chuckles softly]

Hope: I was afraid that we'd never be this close again.

Bo: And here we are.

Hope: Yeah.

Bo: Unless you think it's too soon.

Hope: Too soon?

Bo: Yeah, I mean... do you want to talk or something?

Hope: Do you want to talk?

Bo: No, just trying to be sensitive. That's all.

Hope: I think we've talked enough.

Bo: Me too.

Woman: Sometimes I wonder how I ever got along without you you're the best part of it all life is only as good as you make me feel I need you to hold me for a while I can't live without your love I'd be so lonely without you I'd be nothing without you baby I can't live without your love after all we've been through you know I'll always love you I want to spend my life with my best friend no, I can't live without your love ooh hoo ooh I need you I can't live without your love

Vivian: [Sighs] Hmm. Oh! There you are.

Gus: Sorry I'm late, Madame.

Vivian: Oh, not a problem.

Gus: You're in good spirits.

Vivian: Yes, I am.

Gus: Did someone die?

Vivian: No, it's better than that--Carly's life has become a complete hell.

Gus: How do you know?

Vivian: Well, she's spent so much time sleeping with Bo and trying to impress her illegitimate daughter, she's forgotten all about Nicholas.

Gus: That's foolhardy.

Vivian: Yes, now she wants him back. He doesn't want anything to do with her.

Gus: Can she change his mind?

Vivian: After she murdered his father--I don't think so. She thinks I've poisoned him against her, but the fact is I didn't have to do anything. Oh, God, it makes a person believe in karma.

Gus: Karma doesn't take the place of good planning.

Vivian: You know something. That's why you wanted to see me, isn't it?

Gus: Perhaps.

Vivian: Is it about Kate? Oh, come on, Gus, tell me! I'm on a roll!

Gus: This could be another fruitful night for you Madame.

Vivian: Oh

Carly: Hey, Katie.

Katie: Dr. Manning, hi.

Carly: Kind of quiet around here tonight, isn't it?

Katie: It will be, once Ms. Walker's daughter goes home and lets her poor mother sleep. Oh, no, uh...

Carly: What's wrong?

Katie: Dr. Carver asked me to set Mrs. Walker up for a bunch of tests tomorrow morning. I forgot all about it. Keep an eye on that, will you?

Carly: Yeah, sure.

Abe: You know, I'm glad you and Fay made peace. But that doesn't mean you have to guard her door like a mama lion.

Nicole: You think I'm over the top?

Abe: I think you and Taylor feel bad because you weren't there when Fay took the fall.

Nicole: You know, last night... my mom told me that... she wished she had taken better care of me when my dad was doing... what he was doing. And I told her I forgave her. And when I... think that she could have died without knowing that I love her...

Abe: She knows that. And she didn't die. She's gonna be okay.

Nicole: Yeah. You'd say anything to get me to go home.

Abe: No, no, no. That's not true. That's not true. I have a vested interest in you... and Fay and Taylor... in getting closer. I want that for Brandon.

Nicole: How's that going?

Abe: We talk once a week. And as long as we stay focused on the present and not the past... we'll be all right.

Nicole: That must be hard.

Abe: I do what I have to do. There's no way I could let my son hate me. Hey, look, Nicole... you've forgiven Fay. And she knows it. And now the two of you are going to have time to say all of those things you want to say to each other. Taylor's waiting for us. Come on. Let's go.

Nicole: Okay.

Carly: Keep it together, Carly. Just keep it together.

Katie: Is everything okay, doctor?

Carly: Yeah, fine. It will be, now that Mrs. Walker's daughter has gone home.

Carly: [Sighs] This isn't me. I don't do this. If I could just get some sleep, I'd be fine. I'd be able to handle everything. [Sighs] Okay. I just have to fight this. I have to.

Nicole: I need a drink. Do you want one?

Taylor: Uh, no, I'm okay. Thanks. Were you seeing Mom at the bottom of those stairs?

Nicole: Yeah. You?

Taylor: Yeah.

Nicole: Think we should call the hospital?

Taylor: Well, we just left a few minutes ago.

Nicole: Right. I'm really glad you're here.

Taylor: Yeah, me too. Um, I'm glad you're glad. I know you weren't at first.

Nicole: I mean, if I had to go through this by myself, I... look, when Mom comes home and, um... and you find your own place... I hope things are still like this, you know? Close.

Taylor: Yeah. Me too.

Nicole: Ohh.

Taylor: Mmm. There's nothing I want more than that, Nikki.

Nicole: Taylor, there's something else I need to say. I owe you an apology.

Taylor: For what?

Nicole: For the way I treated you most of your life... acting like I had all the hard knocks, and you had it easy, blaming you for things that were not your fault, even when Mom and Brandon tried to get it through my thick head that I was wrong.

Taylor: Hey, it's all over now, okay? And God knows I'm not perfect.

Nicole: But what gets me the most is what I did to my own life, because I-I actually could have had a sister-- I mean, someone I trust like nobody else.

[Monitor beeping]

Rafe 2: So, doll... it's just you and me now-- no doctors... no daughters. Time to say good night.

Bo: I can't wait to pick up Ciara in the morning.

Hope: Yeah. Think she'll see the difference? I'll be glowing.

[Both laugh]

Bo: Well, I... I think she'll know without us telling her that... I don't know-- this is like a new beginning.

Hope: Yeah. I believe it.

Bo: Yeah. Me too.

Ciara: We have to be quiet, Tommy Bear. We don't want to wake up grandma or grandpa. I like maps. Don't you, Tommy Bear? That blue thing right there-- that's a lake. Me, Mommy, and Daddy used to have fun at that lake. But we don't have fun anymore, 'cause I'm always getting in trouble. It'll be better when I go away.

Nicholas: I'm gonna hang up now, Mom. And don't call back. You're as dead to me as my father is.

Carly: Come on, Melanie, just pick up. I just want to hear your voice, baby--come on. Hey, honey, it's me. It's Mom. Um, nothing important, I just-- I wanted to just say hi. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Tomorrow. [Sighs]

Nicole: Boy, this was quite a day.

Taylor: I know.

Nicole: But no matter what happens, Taylor, we'll get through this together.

Taylor: Right. Yeah.

Nicole: Do you think we'll sleep tonight?

Taylor: No.

[Both chuckle]

Nicole: What if we go to the hospital and took a peek at Mom and then just stayed outside her room? Lexie would be okay with that, right?

Taylor: You don't want to wait for EJ?

Nicole: He'll know where to find me. It's just that Mom was so upset before.

Taylor: Yeah.

Nicole: I want to make sure she's sleeping peacefully now.

Rafe: Sort of sad that if you know your enemies, you know yourself. You can win 100 battles without a single loss. I'm not gonna find out who they are till I know who I am. And the only thing that I have to go on is this.

[Monitor beeping]

Rafe 2: I'm sorry you have to die, Fay. But the truth is... you're in the way.

On the next “Days of our Lives" --

Carly: I have to do something soon.

Rafe 2: Look at it this way. The Cubs are never gonna disappoint you again.

Stefano: You have made a very serious mistake.
