Rafe 2: [Voice echoing] Time for you to have a little accident.
Brady: Charles, you heard me right the first time. Listen, listen, listen! If Salem University Hospital needs more money to get the business contracts for the new children's wing, give it to 'em. I want you to give 'em whatever they need. Yes. Exactly. Provided the wing is named after my mother. Yeah. I gotta go. Keep me posted. What's that look for?
Victor: I have a look?
Brady: Yeah, it's a very, uh...disapproving one.
Victor: I just find it interesting what you've chosen to do with the money you've stolen from me.
Brady: I didn't steal anything.
Victor: Let me tell you something, Brady. You might want to take this to heart, since it's an area in which I have quite a bit of experience. Forced altruism is not going to give you a clear conscience after you've done something underhanded.
Melanie: Did you say what I think you just said?
Dario: Yup. And I meant it. If you're trying to impress me by throwing your money around, don't bother.
Melanie: Impress you? I'm trying to find the person that killed your sister.
Dario: And I'm supposed to, what, thank you? Tell you how generous you are?
Melanie: Gosh, no. I mean, actually, you can bite me.
Taylor: You think my mother heard us talking at the house before she fell?
EJ: I think it's possible.
Taylor: Oh, my God.
EJ: Look, Taylor, we both knew that she was starting to suspect something was going on between the two of us. And this is one explanation.
EJ: The accident.
Taylor: Oh, my God.
Nicole: I just don't understand why Mom hid these.
Rafe 2: You're a tough old bird, I'll give you that. There's not much you can do about an air bubble now, is there?
[Cell phone rings]
Dario: Guess I should be grateful that wasn't a cup of hot coffee.
Melanie: Do you have any idea how big of a jackass you are?
Dario: No, but I'm sure you're gonna fill me in.
Melanie: It's not a good time having something poured on your head, is it? You--right... you missed a spot. Right...
Dario: You know, maybe I was wrong about you.
Melanie: You think?
Dario: I'm sorry for saying that you put up the reward to get props from me.
Melanie: Thank you.
Dario: No, I know you did it because that means you feel bad.
Melanie: Okay, I put up the reward money for one reason-- to find the person that took Arianna away from us. And you using her death to make me feel bad is not only wrong, it's disgusting.
Taylor: So this is totally and utterly my fault.
EJ: No, Taylor, it's not.
Taylor: It is! If I'd told Nicole the truth sooner-- if you and I hadn't been sneaking around, pining after each other every single second--
EJ: Stop it, all right? You're gonna make yourself crazy. You've don't nothing wrong!
Taylor: Yeah, except sneak around behind my sister's back, freak out my mother, ruin your marriage, my life, your life...
EJ: Loving you is not gonna ruin me.
Sami: Wow, they put together a 50-piece puzzle? That's amazing, Grandma. No, no, I'm glad you called. I'm glad you're having fun. Thanks again. All right. Bye. Rafe? What are you doing?
Brady: Another sign of how little you know me, Granddad.
Victor: Is that so?
Brady: I'm donating the Titan Foundation Funds in my mother's name to honor her memory... not to ease my own conscience.
Victor: I'm surprised you still have one.
Brady: Are you through? Are you--
Victor: You know, your mother's good name notwithstanding, if she were here to weigh in, she would not be proud of what you've done to our family.
Brady: I want to know what you want from me. Really. I mean, one minute you're telling me I'm weak. The next minute you think I'm a thief and a son of a bitch. Make up your mind!
Victor: Unfortunately, I already have. But then, you're my grandson, and I love you. So I'm-- I'm able to open my mind, and even my heart.
Brady: And what would have to change for you to do that?
Victor: You'd have to make Titan a family business again.
Brady: Do you think this was easy for me?
Victor: I would have no way of knowing that.
Brady: Well, it wasn't. By the way, when my mother was here, she apparently questioned how you ran Titan just as much as I have.
Victor: But your mother never betrayed me.
Brady: You really think guilt-tripping me is gonna make me fold at this point?
Victor: I'm hoping that reason will overrule whatever hubris is driving you.
Brady: My conscience is clear. Can you say the same thing?
Maggie: Melanie, hi!
Melanie: Hi, Maggie.
Maggie: Oh, I wanted to congratulate you. Oh, on that offering the reward money.
Melanie: Oh, so you don't think it was a shallow... thing to do, with, like, an ulterior motive because I was just trying to impress somebody?
Maggie: I'm sorry?
Melanie: Never mind. Um, this is Dario... Rafe's obnoxious little brother.
Maggie: Oh. Hello.
Dario: Are you ever gonna let this go? No?
Melanie: I don't know. Maybe if you leave, so I'm not constantly reminded of how mad I am at you.
Dario: Fine. Very nice to meet you.
Maggie: You as well.
Maggie: Are you all right, honey?
Nicole: Mary, I was wondering if you found my mom's cell phone on the staircases, or maybe on the floor here, and set it on the foyer table?
Mary: I didn't, ma'am.
Nicole: Are you sure?
Mary: I am. Maybe it was one of the EMTs.
Nicole: I didn't see anyone. Well, this place was a madhouse, so who knows. Okay, thank you.
Mary: I hope your mother's better very soon.
Nicole: Thank you, Mary.
Rafe 2: Hey, babe.
Sami: What are you doing here?
Rafe 2: I was, uh... [Monitor beeping rapidly] Whoa.
Sami: Oh, my God. What's wrong with her?
Rafe 2: Beats me.
Sami: She needs help.
Lexie: What are you doing in here?
Sami: We were just talking, Lexie, but obviously something's wrong.
Lexie: Wait outside, please.
Sami: Oh, of course. Of course. Rafe!
Rafe 2: Yeah, I'm coming.
[Monitor beeping rapidly]
Sami: What happened to her? Do you think she's gonna be all right?
Rafe 2: I don't know, babe. Doesn't look good.
[ Negotiator #1 ] Is that him?
[ Negotiator #2 ] Yea.
Maggie: Here you go.
Melanie: Thank you.
Maggie: I have a question.
Maggie: That guy, um, Dario?
Melanie: Yeah. What about him?
Maggie: What's going on between you two?
Maggie: Okay, honey. Just relax.
Melanie: You think I like him.
Maggie: I think you can't stand him.
Melanie: Okay, good. Thank you.
Maggie: But there's that thing, though-- that little thin line thing, you know, sweetie.
Melanie: No, no, no, no. There's no thin line. He's annoying, he's untrustworthy, he's creepy. Can we-- let's talk about any-- world hunger. Let's talk about world hunger.
Maggie: Okay. [Clears throat] How about something closer to home?
Melanie: Okay, but there's nothing going on between me and him.
Melanie: Okay. I was thinking about Brady.
Melanie: Well, there's nothing going on with me and Brady either!
Maggie: I know that.
Melanie: But you just said...
Maggie: Look, would you please relax, honey? I just said I was thinking about Brady.
Melanie: Okay, I just--
Maggie: Okay. Victor is hurt... about what he's done with Titan.
Melanie: I know.
Maggie: And I don't understand it at all. I mean, it's not as if Brady and Victor have had some kind of feud.
Melanie: Not that I know of.
Maggie: So this takeover just sort of came out of the blue, is that it? Hmm. See, the strangest thing is that Brady and Victor love each other very much. But they can't seem to get around this mess to show each other that.
Melanie: Yeah, sounds about right.
Maggie: So I was gonna ask you for your help.
Maggie: Mm-hmm. I don't know, maybe you could just play peacemaker between the two of them. I tried to do it, but I failed miserably.
Melanie: What makes you think I can do what you failed?
Maggie: Well, because Brady, he cares about you so much.
Melanie: As, like, a friend.
Maggie: Um, yeah, yeah. But he will listen to you, honey. [Cell phone ringing] Oh...excuse me. [Chuckles] Okay. Hello, Victor. We were just talking about you.
Victor: I need to see you at the house, Maggie, right away.
Maggie: Is everything all right?
Melanie: What was that?
Maggie: That was so strange.
Melanie: You didn't even say "bye."
Maggie: Well, he didn't give me a chance. He just hung up on me.
Melanie: How rude.
Maggie: Okay, you know what, I gotta go. And I want you to think about what I said.
Maggie: Okay. And I gotta go.
Melanie: Okay. Brady, it's Melanie. Are you busy? Okay, good. Can you meet me at the cheating heart right now?
EJ: I know... I promised I'd keep my distance. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to keep that promise.
[Cell phone ringing]
Taylor: It's Nicole.
EJ: Take it.
Taylor: Hi, Nicole. Everything's the same with Mom.
Nicole: Okay, um, I'm heading over to the hospital in a few minutes. We need to talk.
Nicole: I found Mom's pills-- the ones she was supposed to take--stashed away.
Taylor: I don't get it.
Nicole: What's not to get, Taylor? She didn't take them. But there's something else. I found Mom's cell phone just sitting on the foyer table. How did it get there when she fell down the staircase?
Taylor: What are you getting at?
Nicole: Isn't it obvious? Taylor, something's off.
Taylor: Yeah. Yeah, it is. Definitely.
Nicole: Okay, I'm just checking in. I'll see you in a little bit.
Taylor: Okay, see you soon.
Nicole: Are you sure everything's okay there?
Taylor: [Sighs] Yeah. Yeah, everything's the same, like I said.
Nicole: You're not keeping anything from me, are you?
Taylor: What? About Mom?
Nicole: Yes, about-- Taylor, you sound funny.
Taylor: I'm just upset, Nicole.
Nicole: No, I know. Me too.
Taylor: Okay, um...bye. God.
Taylor: She knows something's wrong, EJ. She can hear it in my voice.
EJ: She has no idea what's going on, Taylor.
Taylor: Yet. And if she finds out, God knows what it would do to her.
Sami: Lexie's been in there a long time.
Rafe 2: Yeah.
Sami: Did you notice anything about her when you were in there with her? Like why this is happening to Faye?
Rafe 2: What am I, a doctor?
Sami: No. But you certainly had an opinion about her health before. You said she was on death's doorstep when you hadn't even seen her.
Rafe 2: I never used that expression.
Sami: You were certainly being grim about it.
Rafe 2: All right, look, you were in there with me. You saw those alarms and stuff was going off. I was just bracing for the worst.
Sami: Bracing for-- why do you even care?
Rafe 2: I already explained that.
Sami: Not very well.
Rafe 2: Oh, jeez.
Sami: You know, I'd also like to know why you're not at work. Isn't that where you said you had to go? Why are you in Faye's hospital room?
Rafe 2: I had to get a statement from a witness nearby. So I figured that I would stop in and see Faye...for you.
Sami: For me?
Rafe 2: What'd I just say?
Sami: Okay. Why?
Rafe 2: Why what, Sami?
Sami: Why would you go visit a woman I have absolutely no connection with for me? And why would you be standing over her like you're her long lost I don't know what? Why were you hovering on her?
Rafe 2: Are you serious right now? I was about to say something to her--something comforting.
Sami: Like what? Like, "I'm sorry, Faye, but I have this weird obsession about whether you live or die"? All I know is that you would never have done this before, okay? You would never have intruded on someone else's privacy like this before.
Rafe 2: All right, so what's your frickin' point?
Sami: My point is I don't understand you anymore!
Rafe 2: [Chuckles] That's great. Okay. So now I do something nice, and then you jump all over me. Is that the deal?
Sami: The deal is I would like to know what you were doing in Faye Walker's hospital room.
Rafe 2: I told you.
Sami: No, you didn't. Taylor, hey, did you hear what happened?
Taylor: Heard what? No.
Sami: Oh. Oh, I thought that's why you came-- um, I guess some alarms went off in your mom's room. Lexie's with her now, though.
Taylor: Lexie, is she all right?
Rafe: Or is she dead?
Maggie: Victor, I got here just as fast as I could.
Victor: Oh, excellent!
Maggie: You're smiling.
Victor: Why shouldn't I be?
Maggie: You were upset on the phone.
Victor: I was?
Maggie: Victor, I asked you if everything was all right, and you said no and hung up on me.
Victor: No... I was just frustrated with my grandson.
Maggie: Victor Kiriakis, what is going on here?
Victor: Oh, Maggie, I've-- I've just had it. I mean, I've had it with Titan, I've had it with my family, I've had it with worrying about everything every day, all day. My plane is fueled for a transatlantic flight, and I'm leaving.
Maggie: What? Where to?
Maggie: Isn't this a little extreme?
Victor: Why, you got something against Paris?
Maggie: I have something against you leaving town alone because you're frustrated with your life here.
Victor: Who said anything about going alone?
Maggie: What? You just did.
Victor: I said my plane was fueled for Paris. Actually, I was hoping you'd go with me.
Dario: Hi. Do you remember me?
Stephanie: Yeah. What's up?
Dario: Well, are you meeting someone here?
Stephanie: No such luck.
Dario: How 'bout some company?
Stephanie: Sure. But full disclosure...
Stephanie: I am in rebound mode, so I have a very small tolerance for suffering fools.
Dario: So you think I'm a fool.
Stephanie: I don't really know you. All I know is that you were excited to hear me dish about Melanie the other day.
Dario: Yeah, I was wondering about that.
Stephanie: That's what you wanted to talk to me about?
Dario: No. Actually, I thought that we could get better acquainted, you and me.
Stephanie: And why would you want that?
Dario: Well, we are practically family.
Stephanie: What are you talking about?
Dario: My last name, it's Hernandez.
Stephanie: Hernandez. Are you related to Rafe?
Dario: He's my brother.
Stephanie: Wow, I didn't know that. He's married to my cousin.
Dario: Sami. Yeah, I know.
Stephanie: So did you ask around about me too?
Dario: Salem is a pretty small town.
Stephanie: Not that small.
Dario: So the other day when you said that you couldn't stand Melanie, that she was trouble, was it because you were pissed off at her, or is she really as bad as you said?
Sami: I cannot believe you just said that. He's sorry. He did not mean that the way it sounded.
Rafe 2: There's no need to apologize for me. I am sorry, but look at the woman. I mean, obviously her time is nearly up.
Sami: Just stop it, okay?
EJ: You know what, Rafe, just shut up, all right?
Lexie: EJ, EJ!
EJ: Lexie, how's Faye?
Lexie: Actually, she's better, she's better. I mean, we're not sure why the alarm went off, but we've been weaning her off the ventilator, and she's breathing well on her own. Yeah, your mother's definitely improving.
Taylor: Can I see her?
Lexie: Yeah, in a few minutes. But she's still sedated, so she won't be able to talk to you for a couple of hours, okay?
Taylor: All right.
Sami: Well, I'm really happy for you. And, of course, for Nicole. Please send her my best.
Taylor: Yeah, it's good news.
Lexie: Yeah. Would you come with me? I want to introduce you to the respiratory therapist who's working with your mom, okay?
Sami: You know what, I could call Brandon for you while you're doing that, if you want. Just let him know that his mom's okay.
Taylor: Sure. Thank you. I'd appreciate that, Sami.
Lexie: Excuse me. Excuse us.
Sami: Do you mind just waiting here while I talk to Brandon real quick?
EJ: Quick question for you.
Rafe 2: Quick answer.
EJ: Why is the fact that Taylor's mother is going to be okay so disturbing to you?
Maggie: You want me to go away with you?
Victor: Very much.
Maggie: To Paris?
Victor: Have you ever been?
Maggie: Believe it or not, no. Anyway--no. No.
Victor: It's everything you ever heard, and more. I mean, the food, the architecture, the people...
Maggie: I--I can't, Victor.
Victor: Why? Why not?
Maggie: I'm not like you. I just can't fly off to Paris and never look back. I'm sorry.
Melanie: How's your grandfather?
Brady: You've gotta be kidding me, right?
Melanie: No, no, no, I just-- do you guys think that you can work through things, or is it more complicated than that?
Brady: Did my grandfather call you?
Brady: Did Maggie call you?
Melanie: Nnnnn-- she's worried about you.
Brady: I don't believe this.
Melanie: So am I, Brady.
Brady: Look, don't be. Because I'm doing what I have to do. I'm fine. Doing just fine.
Melanie: Yeah? Well, that doesn't mean it's not maybe still taking a toll on you.
Brady: Look, I'm fine. Listen, Melanie, I'm dealing with what's put on the table in front of me right now, and I'm dealing with it just fine. Okay? I don't want any lectures from you, okay?
Melanie: I didn't call you to lecture. I don't even know how to lecture.
Brady: But you think what's going on with Titan is hurting me, right?
Melanie: No. I think what's going on with your grandfather is what's hurting you. I think you're the best thing to happen to Titan in a long time.
Melanie: Yeah. You sound surprised.
Brady: I am surprised because... I second-guess myself constantly.
Melanie: Why? You don't think you're up to it?
Stephanie: When it comes to Melanie, she's not exactly black and white.
Dario: So you know this whole other side of her?
Stephanie: I used to think that Melanie and I were friends at one time. And it turns out she's way more trouble than she's worth.
Dario: Why's that?
Stephanie: You know what, I don't even know why I'm talking about this. I said I didn't want to talk about it.
Daniel: But just wait. Just tell me what--
Stephanie: No. If you want to know more about Melanie, ask her yourself.
Rafe 2: Why would I be disturbed about your mother-in-law's health? Couldn't care less.
EJ: Is that right? That's not really how you're presenting.
Rafe 2: Presenting?
Rafe 2: Who talks like that?
EJ: You look shifty. Samantha picked up on that.
Rafe 2: Um, yeah. Okay. Last time I checked, you and your pops hired me to break up Sami and Rafe. You might want to take another look, because I'm about a heartbeat away from delivering.
Sami: What? Were you talking to Rafe about Johnny?
Rafe 2: Are you kidding me? You told EJ about that?
Sami: No, actually, I didn't have to say a word because my son told his father about you teaching him to fight.
Rafe 2: Oh, yeah, sure. Teaching a kid how to defend himself is bad, but growing up with the sopranos as role models isn't. Whatever. And now I gotta go. I work for a living. And obviously this has been a total waste of my time.
Sami: Please, don't say it.
EJ: I wasn't going to say anything.
Sami: Whatever you may think, I can handle my husband. And I certainly don't need your interference in how I raise my children.
EJ: Look, if I were going to say anything, Samantha, it would be that I've had a change of heart.
EJ: I've been too critical of you and Rafe. I realize you've had a very rough time since the accident, and frankly, I admire you for standing by your husband. So my recent grousing notwithstanding, I... I just want you to know that I know that you worry about your children, and I think that you are a devoted mother and a caring mother. And I trust that you will do what is right to make sure that our children aren't affected by Rafe's recent erratic behavior. Won't you?
Rafe 2: Oh, boy... this is not good. No, this is not good at all. I gotta finish that old bat off before she wakes up. Otherwise, Stefano and EJ are gonna finish me off. Oh, God.
Maggie: I'm not unhappy with my life here. Not like you are, Victor. I mean, I can't just pick up and move to Paris.
Victor: Who said anything about moving to Paris?
Maggie: You did, didn't you? I mean, I think.
Victor: No, Maggie. I wasn't asking you to run away with me. I was just asking you to dinner.
Maggie: In France?
Victor: Mais oui, mon cheri.
Maggie: You don't have to dazzle me to woo me, Victor. Besides, I'm quite adept in the art of French cooking myself.
Maggie: Coq au vin, bourguignon, moules-frites.
Victor: Oh, I'm very impressed.
Maggie: I tell you what. How 'bout I cook for you... in the comfort of your own very well-appointed kitchen? And I promise you it will not leave such a large carbon footprint as a whirlwind trip to Paris.
Victor: Who's being dazzling now, hmm?
Rafe 2: Okay, I gotta do this now.
Rafe 2: What? I mean, what now?
Sami: Don't talk to me like that.
Rafe 2: Listen, I told you I gotta get to work. I don't have time for this.
Sami: You're gonna make time. We have to deal with this right now. Let's go. Come on.
Brady: I don't think I like where this is heading.
Melanie: You don't think-- you don't know if what's best for Titan is best for your family.
Brady: Look, I had a really hard time making the decision to do what I did, all right? My grandfather's not an easy person to take on.
Melanie: I know.
Brady: Yes, I wanted his approval a little more than I was willing to admit.
Melanie: Okay, so you thought taking the company out from underneath him was a way to get that?
Brady: I actually thought that, yeah, once he was done being pissed off at me, he would actually take a second look at me and say, "wow, that's pretty--"
Melanie: "He reminds me of me." And he'll respect you more for that?
Melanie: You're not like him at all. At all. It's like you're trying to wear clothes that don't fit.
Brady: I just think you need to grow up in a family like mine in order to understand why it matters so much. Besides, Mel, I can't take it back.
Melanie: Sure you can.
Brady: I don't want to talk about this anymore.
Melanie: Okay, Brady. I just don't like seeing you like this.
Brady: Like what?
Melanie: Sad. I don't know. Lonely.
Brady: Are you gonna throw me a lifeline or something? I mean...
Melanie: Look, your fights, Brady, are my fights. What? Why aren't you talking?
Brady: No one's ever said anything like that to me before.
Melanie: Maybe you just need more friends like me.
Brady: Or maybe just more of you.
Melanie: I'm always around. You know that. You can call me whenever you need me.
Brady: No, no, I'm not talking-- I'm talking about something different. I'm just talking about more of you.
Melanie: Different how?
Brady: I didn't mean different time-wise. I meant-- I just meant different... as in more of you.
Taylor: Hey, EJ. Hey, we need-- Nicole.
Nicole: Hey, hey. Is Mom okay?
Taylor: Uh, yeah, she's better, actually. They took out the breathing tube.
Nicole: Oh, that's great news. EJ, thank you for staying with Taylor.
EJ: Oh, no, of course.
Taylor: Nicole, we have to talk to you about something.
Lexie: Oh, good, you're both here. Your mother's stable, but she'll still be sedated for a couple more hours. If you want, you can sit with her one at a time.
Taylor: I'll go first. Yeah. Thanks.
Nicole: EJ... is something going on with Taylor?
Rafe 2: You want to tell me why I had to follow you all the way out here in my car so that we could talk? I told you, I have to get to work.
Sami: You didn't have to work. You were trying to get away from me.
Rafe 2: Okay, fine. What is it? What do you want?
Sami: You don't know why we're here?
Rafe 2: Why?
Sami: This doesn't mean anything to you?
Rafe 2: Um...well, it's-- it's where we got married, right?
Rafe 2: Right.
Sami: Right, we were married here. And I just thought we could come here and breathe... and maybe you wouldn't seem like such a stranger anymore.
Rafe 2: You're right. You're right. You know, I can feel it now. It's, uh... so many things are coming back to me. We had the chains. The chains, you know, right, that held us together.
Sami: Right. You remember that?
Rafe 2: Yeah. Chains of love, they can't be broken.
Sami: Right. Yeah, exactly. Come on, this is better, right? This is better, being here. It's helping you remember all the love we shared.
Rafe 2: Yeah, it's much better. All right, can I go now, please? Hmm?
Dario: What the hell's wrong with me? She's exactly who I thought she was.
Melanie: Um, yeah, I'll always have your back, okay? Just like you'll always have mine.
Brady: Good. But listen, listen, no more lectures. Do not try to reform me. Do not try broker peace with my family. You understand me?
Melanie: Yeah. I got a--I should really--
Melanie: That I have to do... back where I'm supposed to be.
Brady: All right, I'll see you.
Melanie: Yeah, okay. Thanks.
EJ: Sweetheart, Taylor is all over the map right now. Emotionally, I mean.
Nicole: I get it. I am too. I just wish I knew what actually happened to my mom-- how she fell down the stairs, and what she was trying to say to me before she did.
Taylor: I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt you or Nicole. But I love him, Mom. I love EJ, and I don't know how to make it stop. [Monitor beeping] This is the last thing I could have seen happening. Please forgive me. Please come back to all of us. Nicole and I, we need you so much. Mom.
Sami: I can't live like this!
Rafe 2: Come on, babe! I'm here, aren't I? I told you, I've got things to do--I've got to work. I mean, seriously, I remembered the place. What more do you want?
Sami: I want my husband back!
Rafe 2: I'm right here!
Sami: You remember who you are, you remember what happened, but you don't remember how you felt. How we felt. That is devastating. You can't see that?
Rafe 2: Would you just relax? Okay? Just relax. This stuff, it can wait.
Sami: No. No, it can't Rafe. It is not gonna wait one more minute!
Rafe 2: I can't-- I can't do this.
On the next “Days of our Lives" --
Sami: No, you are not going anywhere.
Rafe 2: You know what-- you do not want to touch me like that or you're gonna be sorry.
Sami: Are you threatening me?
Taylor: I'm leaving town, EJ. I'm getting out of your life for good.
