Fay: [Muffled cries] No! No!
Rafe 2: You know-- you know, don't you? You know I'm not the real Hernandez dude.
Fay: [Muffled screams] Help me! Help me! No! No! No! No! No! No! [Crying out]
Rafe 2: Okay... it's almost over.
Fay: No! No...
Rafe 2: Guess what?
Rafe 2: Time for you to have a little accident.
Rafe 2: Look at you.
Rafe: See what you made me do?
Jennifer: Hey, that was quick--come on in.
Daniel: Yeah, yeah. Broke a few laws. You said it was important.
Jennifer: It is. It's about Carly.
Daniel: Yeah, I had a feeling.
Jennifer: There's something wrong with her. I'm sure of it now.
Carly: [Crying] God, that's not me. That's not-- it can't happen again. It can't. Okay...
Rafe 2: Since the accident, name one thing that you even like about me, let alone love. Can't do it, can you?
Sami: I don't know if I can.
Johnny: Mommy, where's Rafe?
Sami: Hey, sweetheart! Whoa--whoa! It's nice to see you. Sorry, Rafe's not here right now.
Johnny: But he said he was gonna give me more fighting lessons.
Sami: Well, you know what? I need to talk to you about that, because we agreed no more fighting lessons, right? Fighting does not solve your problems.
Johnny: But he promised. Rafe promised to make me a better fighter.
EJ: Did he, now?
Taylor: What was that?
Rafe 2: Looks like it may be worth something after all.
Sami: Okay, okay, okay. It's okay. Go see your dad.
EJ: Come here.
EJ: Listen, you... what's all this talk about Rafe teaching you how to fight?
Sami: Not like it sounds.
Johnny: I'm gonna beat him up, Daddy.
EJ: Who's that?
Johnny: Reid. He's a mean kid in my class.
Sami: Uh, you know what-- uh, it's time for us to get going. Johnny--
Johnny: But Mommy...
Sami: No. I want you to go get your sister ready to go, okay?
EJ: Go upstairs. What's going on?
Sami: Nothing. It's not a big deal.
EJ: It's not a big deal? Rafe is encouraging my son to beat up one of his schoolmates. That's not a big deal? I'm supposed to be cool with it, am I? You cool with it? Hmm? Look, I know your husband fancies himself as some ex-FBI whatever... but that does not mean he has the right to teach our son how to attack another child, Samantha.
Sami: It wasn't like that, okay? He was giving him boxing lessons. It was supposed to be fun.
EJ: Fun? How exactly is it fun to hurt another child? Were you even there for this conversation, where your husband promised to turn my son into Sugar Ray Leonard?
Sami: It wasn't like that at all, okay? Look, Johnny needs to learn how to defend himself against bullies.
EJ: Defend himself? Samantha, you don't learn how to defend yourself by attacking another child. And you did not answer my question. Were you there for this conversation?
Sami: No, I wasn't.
EJ: Samantha, would you look at me, please? Samantha... you're concerned about this, clearly. Would you please tell me that you know what is going on in your house with your husband.
Taylor: Come on, come on, hurry up.
Nicole: I am hurrying I can't open the door without my keys. Where are your keys?
Taylor: I don't have them.
Nicole: Oh, here, I got it. Okay, you open the door.
Nicole: Why are you having such a hard time--
Taylor: Oh, my God, Mom! Mom. Mom...
Nicole: Oh, my God...Mom!
Taylor: All right, check her pulse. I'm gonna call 911.
Nicole: I don't even know how to... you know when the times are tough, the tough get gorgeous.
Jennifer: Here, sit down.
Daniel: So you can't reach her?
Jennifer: No. I tried voice mail, texts, everything. I even went over to the hospital and left her a note earlier, and not a word.
Daniel: Not a word. See, that's not like her.
Jennifer: I know. And even though she forgot about our dinner date last night-- to be unreachable for the whole day?
Daniel: Yeah. What if she's needed at the hospital?
Jennifer: Yeah, exactly. Or what if Melanie needed her?
Daniel: Yeah, and more importantly, why isn't she answering your phone calls or returning the messages?
Jennifer: I don't know. I mean, I know when you were with her last night, she said that she had a bad day, that she was having nightmares about Lawrence, right?
Daniel: No, she did. She told me that she's having a hard time sleeping lately, and-- I mean, when she first started talking about it, she seemed a little upset, then agitated. But then, some--
Jennifer: Yeah, I know. But you said when you left that she was calm. That's what you said last night.
Jennifer: What's wrong? What are you thinking?
Daniel: I'm thinking maybe too calm.
Carly: Damn it! Ooh!
Adrienne: Carly, are you okay?
Justin: Did you burn yourself?
Carly: No, I'm--I'm fine. Don't worry about me.
Woman: Let me get this for you.
Carly: Oh, I'm sorry. I just made a big old mess.
Woman: Don't worry. Would you like a refill?
Carly: No, I don't think so. Well, it's good to see you two looking so happy.
Justin: [Chuckles] Thanks. Would you like to join us?
Carly: No, you look like you were enjoying some private time.
Adrienne: Private time? We're in Java Cafe. Come on, have a seat.
Carly: I have to get back to work--I'm late as it is. But it was good to see you, and I hope to see you again soon, okay?
Sami: How dare you. I know what is going on in my home with my own husband.
EJ: I hope so, Samantha, because you have a wonderful ability to live your life in complete denial.
Sami: Denial? You're the one married to Nicole after everything that bitch did to us.
EJ: No, no, I'm sorry, you do not speak that way about my wife. She's been very good to me, and more importantly, she's been very good to your children.
Sami: Okay. Rafe is good to me, and he has been very good to our children. So I will not allow you to be disrespectful to him either.
EJ: I wasn't being disrespectful about Rafe, all right? Look, Samantha, I'm not trying to hurt you. I'm not trying to install any false sense of doubt in you about your marriage. But Johnny is my son, and if the man you're living with is in some way a corrupting influence on him, then I have a right to be concerned, do I not?
Sami: I think you're blowing this way out of proportion.
EJ: Am I? Okay...are you with them every time they're together, Johnny and Rafe?
Sami: No. No! Of course not. Why would I be?
EJ: Because, Samantha, you and I both know-- just...look... you and I both know Rafe sustained some kind of head injury in that accident. Okay? My concern is that the reason he's encouraging Johnny to be belligerent and aggressive is that he's just not quite himself.
Sami: EJ, there is no way I would allow my husband, or anyone else, for that matter, to corrupt my son.
EJ: Look, Samantha... look, when Rafe told me that he was having more tests to find out whatever was wrong with him, you were standing right beside me. Okay? Right beside me. And it doesn't really matter what these new test results may be, it's common knowledge-- he's had major lapses in his memory. He's had a notable shift in his personality.
Sami: He's been diagnosed. We know what's wrong with him.
Sami: Yeah. Yeah, and it's, in fact, not that serious.
EJ: Really? That's good. Do they know what it is?
Sami: Yep. He, um, he has hypoglycemia.
EJ: Hypo-- okay, what is hypoglycemia?
Sami: It means low blood sugar. Sort of the opposite of diabetes, kind of. Anyway, it explains all the symptoms. The headaches, the dizziness, the mood swings.
EJ: Is there a cure?
Sami: Essentially, Dr. Manning said he just needs to eat right, and that's a big part of it. And he has to be really diligent about it, so I'm really helping him with that. But I can see a difference already. He's already getting better.
EJ: Oh, I see. Um...well, um... good. This new diet that he's started, um, did he start this before or after he was encouraging Johnny to attack other children?
Sami: Stop it, okay? I've had enough of this conversation. Rafe is gonna be fine, I'm fine, the kids are fine. Yes, he definitely had some problems, but Rafe is getting better, just like I said, and I can handle things. I can handle things with him and the kids. So thank you for your concern, but that is the end of this discussion.
EJ: No, I'm sorry, Samantha, that's not the end of this discussion. You see, if Rafe is a corrosive influence on my son...
Sami: I told you, it's not like that!
EJ: If Rafe is a corrosive influence on my son, then I'm not gonna stand back. I'm not gonna be placated by you telling me that he's happy and safe, that everything's fine. I will get involved!
Nicole: Taylor...her slipper.
Taylor: Oh, God.
Nicole: Oh, my God, she fell all the way from up there.
Taylor: Yes, we need an ambulance right away. The DiMera Estate. Yes, please hurry! [Whispers] Oh, God. Do you feel a pulse?
Nicole: Yeah, yeah. I--I think so.
Taylor: You think so?
Nicole: Well, I'm not a doctor, Taylor! Mom? Mommy, can you hear me? Mom, wake up. Mom! Wake up, Mom!
Taylor: Oh, my God, she's so pale.
Nicole: I shouldn't have left her alone, Taylor. I mean, she woke up all sedated, and she tried to walk down the stairs and...
Taylor: Don't worry, it's gonna be all right. She's gonna be all right?
Nicole: What if she isn't? What if she isn't, Taylor? What have I done? How much medication did she take?
Taylor: I don't know, but I asked Delia to leave her pills in my room so I could check it out online, you know, to see what she's taking, what the dosages is.
Nicole: Well, we need to know. We need to know--I'm gonna go get her pills. I'll go get the pills. I'm gonna get her pills.
Daniel: Now, this isn't the first time she's isolated herself. All those years she was being abused by Lawrence, and then she never reached out to anyone.
Jennifer: Right. But right now, she just retreated so suddenly. And I know that everything with Bo--I know it's been really, really painful. But last week, she was... not fine, but she was communicating. She wanted to go to dinner. She was willing to open up.
Daniel: You know, I'll tell you what. Why don't I just call her.
Jennifer: Okay. That would be great. Oh, but you're not gonna get reception in here. You have to go in the kitchen. Remember, out there, left.
Daniel: To the left.
Daniel: Yes. Thank you.
Jennifer: Thank you. You know what, you have driven me crazy for the last time. I'm gonna finally fix you.
Daniel: Well, she didn't answer, of course, so I just left a message. What are you doing?
Jennifer: I'm just fixing this picture, because it's so crooked, and it's driving me nuts. It's been driving me nuts for--
Carly: Just breathe, breathe. You'll be fine. You'll be fine.
Maxine: Dr. Manning.
Maxine: Would you mind doing me a favor?
Maxine: I need to go down to the E.R. for a while. One of the nurses went home sick. But it's time for Mrs. Lymon's anti-anxiety meds. Would you mind taking them to her? She's in 505.
Carly: Abso--yes. Of course.
Maxine: Thanks. You are a lifesaver.
Sami: What is that supposed to mean, "get involved"? What new stunt are you about to pull?
EJ: Look, Samantha, we have a very good custody arrangement. It's worked out very well for everybody.
Sami: I'm glad you approve.
EJ: But it's tenuous at times. Now, Johnny's been through a lot, so I'm that last person who wants to disrupt the harmony of that arrangement.
Sami: Then get to the point.
EJ: My point is, if Rafe continues to behave inappropriately with the children--either Johnny or Sydney--then you don't give me any choice but to revisit that arrangement.
Sami: I think you're making a big deal out of nothing. It was one small incident.
EJ: No, it was a very serious incident.
Sami: Not to me.
EJ: Really? Because your face says otherwise.
Sami: I think you're just trying to stir things up. You're trying to scare me.
EJ: Samantha, if the situation with Rafe deteriorates any further, then it becomes a question of your judgment, doesn't it? The length to which you're willing to go to keep your children safe and in your care.
Taylor: Nicole, come back! She's not breathing! Oh, my God, Nicole! [Crying]
Taylor: Not yet. Ohh.
Nicole: Mom! Come on, Mom. Come on.
Taylor: Come on. Oh, God! Oh, thank God! She's alive.
Nicole: Thank God, Mom.
Taylor: Hey, Mom.
Taylor: Oh, my God.
Nicole: Oh, Mom.
Adrienne: Ah, thanks, sweetie. You know, um... I've never really seen Carly like that before. So wound up, and the way she ran out of here kind of...
Justin: Yeah, I think she's going through a tough time.
Adrienne: Oh, yeah.
Justin: What are you thinking?
Adrienne: I know I shouldn't judge, but sometimes I wonder why Bo got involved with her in the first place.
Justin: What do you mean?
Adrienne: What, he didn't know he wasn't still in love with Hope? Everyone else did. Look, I know, I know--he was hurt and he was angry, but he obviously hadn't given up on his marriage.
Justin: Well, I'm sure he didn't know that at the time. I also think he was in denial. He thought Hope had given up on them.
Adrienne: Even so, I think it was terribly unfair of him to lead Carly to believe that what they had could last. Now, after what happened with Lawrence for Bo to just abandon her like that...
Justin: Adrienne, Carly is a resourceful person. She's a fighter. She's gonna get through this. She's gonna be all right.
Carly: I can't do this. I can't do this. Okay, stop. Stop. [Breathing hard] Kendall...
Kendall: Yes, doctor?
Carly: Do me a favor--take these pills down to Mrs. Lymon in 505.
Kendall: No problem.
Carly: Thank you. [Sighs]
Jennifer: Thank you.
Daniel: Sure. Yeah.
Jennifer: That is one unsteady stool.
Daniel: Yeah, oh, yeah. Well, I'm just glad you're okay.
Jennifer: I hope I didn't make you pull a muscle catching me.
Daniel: Ah, I'll probably be in traction for a week, but, you know, I'll live with it. Add it to your bill, you know.
Jennifer: Well, since we--we can't, um, seem to figure out what Carly is, and you need to go back to work-- you do, right?
Daniel: I do. I do, definitely. In fact, you know, I'm gonna, um, I'm gonna go now.
Jennifer: Wait, Daniel, wait.
Mary: Dr. DiMera, thank God you're home.
EJ: Mary, what on earth is going on? I'd just gotten here when an ambulance came.
Mary: They took Ms. Walker to the hospital...I was about to clean the blood.
EJ: An ambulance? Did something happen to Taylor?
Mary: No, sir, it's-- it's Fay...the mother.
Carly: Set up an I.C. room. Get Ms. Walker tested and prepped for surgery--go. Ladies, ladies, come with me. Come with me. Can you tell me what happened?
Taylor: She--she was sedated. We thought she would stay in bed.
Nicole: She left her room and she fell down the stairs and no one was there to stop her.
Carly: Okay, okay, she's in good hands. We're gonna do everything we can.
[Door opens and closes]
Nicole: I'm so stupid! I should have double checked. I should have made sure Delia stayed with her while we were out.
Taylor: Nicole, stop. You can't blame yourself, okay?
Nicole: No? Then who the hell can I blame, Taylor?
Rafe 2: [Gulping loudly] [Panting] Time for you to have a little accident.
Fay: Aah! [Sighs] [Whispering] She's gotta be dead. There's way anyone could survive a fall like that, is there? Oh, man.
Rafe 2: What the hell's wrong with you?
Sami: Me? You look terrible. Oh, my God.
Rafe 2: Seriously... don't you ever do that. Don't sneak up on me again. You'll pay too.
Daniel: What? What is it?
Jennifer: Uh... I-I'm really sorry if I made you feel really uncomfortable just now.
Daniel: What? Uncomfortable?
Jennifer: Yeah, I mean, the whole, you know, the stool and-- I feel like an idiot. And then I lost my balance and... you know, it's almost like... as if I timed it so that you would catch me, and--
Daniel: Yeah, you know, I suspected as much. Yeah.
Jennifer: Well, I'm grateful that you did. Catch me, I mean.
Daniel: Yes. Well, use a ladder next time.
Daniel: Okay, well, I'm gonna go...now.
Jennifer: To work, right?
Daniel: To work, I gotta go to work, and when I see Carly, I'll talk to her.
Jennifer: Yes, let me know how that goes.
Daniel: I will, yeah, 'cause, you know, we're, um, team Carly. Right?
Jennifer: That's us.
Daniel: That's us. Team Carly, right. All right.
Jennifer: Bye. Whew. Oh. Okay.
Taylor: Hey...you call Brandon?
Nicole: Yeah, he was ready to get on a plane, and I--I just-- I told him to wait.
EJ: Oh, my goodness, what happened?
Nicole: We don't--we don't know, we don't know. I am so glad you're here.
Carly: Your mother's stabilized.
Taylor: Thank God.
EJ: Can somebody please fill me in as to what's going on?
Nicole: Uh, Mom was... supposed to be sleeping. She was sedated, but obviously the dosage wasn't strong enough.
Taylor: Can we see her?
Carly: Uh, yes. One at a time, please. Whoever...
Taylor: Um...you go first.
EJ: Look, um... I mean, I know that I promised to stay away, but...can I-- can I comfort you? I mean, we're family. Right?
[Heart monitor beeping]
Carly: She's gonna need surgery.
Carly: We have to wait for the swelling in her brain to go down; and her heart condition, it poses a problem.
Stefano: Only we will ever know that the real Rafael Hernandez is locked up, a shell of a man...with no memory of who or what he was.
EJ: Never to see the light of day again.
Fay: Honey, listen...I need you to listen to me. [Gasps]
Nicole: Mom? Mom, are you still there? Mom?
Rafe 2: What the hell do you think you're doing?
Nicole: She's waking up.
Sami: I didn't sneak up on you; I was playing with the kids in the other room. I heard you come in, and I decided to come out and say hello. You look terrible. Are you all right?
Rafe 2: I'm sorry. Listen, uh... I'm just a little rattled. There was some bad news at the office, so...
Sami: I'm sorry to hear that.
Rafe 2: Right. I, uh, wasn't sure we were even talking after what you did to me last night.
Sami: After what I... well, I'm glad you brought it up, 'cause I think we should talk about it.
Rafe 2: You didn't even tell me where the kids were, either. I was looking all over for them.
Sami: I don't remember you asking me where they were.
Rafe 2: I'd like to go see them now, if that's okay with you.
Taylor: Sami, it's Taylor. I'm calling from the hospital. Listen, my mom fell down the stairs. She was seriously injured. I thought you should know, because the kids will have to stay with you, obviously.
Sami: Oh, my God, I'm, um, so sorry.
Taylor: Nicole and I found her. She's still unconscious.
Sami: Well, if there's anything I can do, you'll let know, okay?
Taylor: Thank you. I'll call you soon as I know more.
Taylor: All right, take care, Sami.
Rafe 2: Who was that?
Sami: Um...Fay Walker, Nicole's mom, she took a terrible fall down some stairs. She's in the hospital.
Rafe 2: She's not dead?
Sami: No. Didn't I just say she's in the hospital?
Rafe 2: Yeah, but--
Sami: Why would you ask me if she's dead? Why would you even say it like that?
Justin: So now that we've solved everyone else's problems, what do you say we talk about us for a change?
Adrienne: Well, we have no problems.
Justin: That's true. We are now compatible. In love. Hopeful. Looking forward to the future.
Adrienne: God, everyone must hate us.
Justin: Yeah, it is kind of obnoxious how happy we are.
Adrienne: Yeah, kind of. [Laughs] Maybe we should just keep it to ourselves for now.
Justin: Which brings me to an idea I have.
Adrienne: Oh, yeah?
Justin: Well, since our boys are so busy and far away and unavailable to attend a wedding at this time, and since, as you pointed out, everyone seems to hate us for being so happy...
Justin: How about... we elope?
Adrienne: You mean...
Justin: To Vegas.
Justin: There's a 9 P.M. flight out of Chicago.
Adrienne: You mean tonight?
Adrienne: 9 P.M. tonight?
Justin: Unless you have other plans.
Adrienne: No, no, I don't really have...other plans.
Justin: Then what do you say? Will you marry me, Adrienne? Tonight?
Carly: She's not conscious yet.
Nicole: But she will be, right? I mean...she just moaned. That must mean something.
Carly: Nicole, I wish I could reassure you, but there's a chance...that your mother could lapse into a coma. The next few hours will tell. I'm sorry.
Daniel: How's she doing?
Carly: She's stable for now.
Daniel: Okay. Nicole, I'm-- I'm really sorry. All right, some of the preliminary tests are almost ready down at the lab.
Carly: Okay, let's go have a look. We'll meet you and your sister outside in just a minute, okay?
Nicole: [Whispering] Mommy. [Crying] I don't know if you can hear me, but...it's Nicole. It's me. You can't leave us, okay? You're gonna come back to us, and you are gonna be stronger than ever. You have to.
EJ: Any change?
EJ: Your sister's been on the phone. She's upset.
Nicole: I know I should be with her, but I don't want to leave my mom.
EJ: It's okay. I'll stay with her.
Nicole: Thank you.
EJ: You're okay. Okay.
Rafe 2: I only asked because, um, that woman, she's got a bad heart, right? I just figured a fall like that could, uh...you know, do her in.
Sami: Well, it didn't do her in; she's in the hospital and she's alive.
Rafe 2: Yeah. So what exactly happened?
Sami: I don't know, um, Taylor told me that, I guess, her mom fell down the stairs. Both Taylor and Nicole found her. Can't imagine how that must have felt, seeing your mom like that, helpless.
Rafe 2: Mm, hey... accidents happen.
Nicole: She, uh, made this moaning sound, and we thought she was gonna wake up. But...nothing. And Dr. Manning said that...
Taylor: What? Tell me.
Nicole: She said there's a chance that Mom could go into a coma.
Taylor: [Whispers] Oh, God.
Nicole: And if that happens, Taylor...
Carly: Uh, we got some preliminary results back.
Daniel: And it seems, from what we've learned...
Carly: You said your mother fell down the stairs.
Nicole: Yes. I was on the phone with her, and then...suddenly we were cut off. She was sedated and sounded angry and agitated, and I guess she got out of bed and went in the hall and--and that's when she had fallen down the stairs, looking for help.
Carly: No. That's not what happened. Not at all.
Adrienne: What's the weather like in Vegas now? Should I pack a sweater or a bathing suit?
Justin: Probably both. Just to be safe. Oh, and you probably wanna pack some sort of bridal outfit.
Adrienne: I love you, Justin Kiriakis.
Adrienne: And, yes, I will marry you, tonight, in Vegas.
Justin: Good. Because I already bought the plane tickets.
Adrienne: You didn't.
Adrienne: [Laughing] You are so bad.
Justin: No...just in love.
Justin: Mmm. Come on. We gotta get packed.
Daniel: What are you doing?
Jennifer: I'm just fixing this picture 'cause it's so crooked, and it's driving me nuts, it's been driving me--
Jennifer: Sorry. [Whispers] No. It's fine. Just leave it alone.
Taylor: Not sedated?
Carly: No, not at all.
Nicole: But I don't get it. She was taking pills--
Daniel: Well, there's no sign of any medication in her system.
Carly: Which means your mother was fully conscious and alert when she went down those stairs.
Rafe 2: No. No, with that woman's bad heart, there's no way she survives a fall like that--there's no way.
Sami: And you know this how? You just got your M.D.?
Rafe 2: Ugh. You know, my heart bleeds for the girls. Nicole, Taylor. Ohh. But, hey, it's death, right? It's part of the cycle. It happens.
Sami: Are you kidding me now? What is the matter with you?
Rafe 2: With me?
Sami: Fay is not dead, Rafe. Why do you sound like you want her to be?
EJ: Fay. Fay. Thank God. It's me, it's EJ. Fay... and to you.
Stefano: You're doing an extraordinary job of convincing Samantha and the children you're really Rafe.
Rafe 2: Ah, well, I better be good at doin' him. I'm gonna be him for the rest of my life.
EJ: And no one will be any the wiser.
On the next “Days of our Lives" --
Chloe: You want to take Parker away from me, don't you?
Nicole: I'm gonna find out why she fell down those stairs.
Carly: You're worried about Melanie?
Daniel: About you.
