Nathan: Charging 350. All right, 350.

Carly: Clear! Charge 400.

Nathan: Uh...

Carly: Charge!

Nathan: Doctor, doctor, it's been 14 minutes.

[Flatline continues]

Carly: Right. Calling it, uh... time of death, 5:32. [Clears throat]

Bo: Hey.

Carly: Hey.

Bo: I'm here to question a bystander who was shot in a drive-by. He's just a kid, name of Aaron Bennett. Do you know which room he's in? I have to talk to him.

Carly: Um... your bystander's dead. We worked as hard as we could, but we--the wound, it was--

Bo: I'm sorry.

Jennifer: Oh, boy. I don't think we're ever gonna get through all these boxes in the attic. Gram has so many scrapbooks. I think she's a scrapbook pack rat.

Hope: [Gasps] That's not true. No, she wasn't. She just kept things that she knew we'd love to see someday. Oh, my gosh.

Jennifer: I know. Bless her heart.

Hope: And yours.

Jennifer: What? Mine?

Hope: Yes, for insisting that Bo and I go through the photo albums. It really helped. We reminisced a lot. It brought us closer together.

Ciara: [Whispering] Did you hear that, Theo? Maybe we don't have to run away after all.

Lexie: Okay, Faye, if you go to the elevators, there's a orderly there waiting to take you down for your test.

Faye: Okay.

Nicole: Okay. Mom, I'll see you in a bit.

Faye: Thanks, Lexie.

Lexie: Mm-hmm. So how are things at the mansion? Is everything okay with your mom and Taylor?

Nicole: Mom's... fine. Taylor, not so much.

Lexie: Why not?

Nicole: Because of what's going on between her and EJ.

Lexie: You know?

EJ: Look... I realized something after I left. Oh, dear... we've both been fighting so hard to stop feeling the way that we feel about one another, and it's not working. And I cannot live the rest of my life in denial, Taylor, and I don't think that you can either.

Taylor: EJ... what are you saying?

EJ: I don't know what I'm saying. Just come here. Let me sh--let me show you, okay?

Hope: Looking through all these photo albums, I have to say... it really brought home what a strong history Bo and I have together and the love we shared. And, yes, we've definitely had our serious problems... obviously tragedies. But the love, it never died.

Jennifer: No. It didn't. And if that helped you in some small way, then I'm really glad. It kind of makes up for the mess I made for Carly and Daniel.

Hope: What do you mean? What are you talking about?

Jennifer: Well, I--you know, I just tried to fix them up and, you know, help them realize that maybe they would be good together. And then they found out, and they looked at me like I was out of my mind.

Hope: Well, maybe it was just too soon.

Jennifer: It was. It--it was definitely too soon. And I feel bad about it now. I should have just minded my own business--that would have been better.

Hope: I love you.

Jennifer: I love you. Oh, hi, kids.

Hope: Hey. Oh, listen, I better get the kids over to meet Abe and Lexie.

Jennifer: Oh, okay, great.

Hope: You ready to roll?

Theo: Roll!

Hope: Rock and roll.

Ciara: Let's go.

Jennifer: I'll get your coats.

Hope: And I'll grab the backpacks.

Ciara: As long as Mommy and Daddy are happy, we don't have to run away.

Theo: Don't have to run away.

Carly: I'm sorry. I-I really am. I'm just--he was so young.

Bo: I know you did everything you could.

Carly: Mm.

Bo: Did he say anything? Um, like, did he know who did it to him? See who did it?

Carly: He said, um... um, he was scared... "please help me. I don't want to die."

Bo: If you need me, I'll be right over here. I need to start filling out these reports.

Nicole: Sure, I know. I mean, everyone knows what's going on between EJ and Taylor. They can't stand each other.

Lexie: Right.

Nicole: What? Are you talking about something else?

Taylor: Mmm.

EJ: You can't deny you want me. I can see it. I can feel it. Say it.

Taylor: Yes. Oh... mmm. Ladies, you are all covergirls.

Bo: Okay, I need you to sign right here as the doctor of record.

Carly: Mm-hmm. Okay.

Mrs. Bennett: Excuse me. They told me that my son was being treated on this floor... that he'd been shot.

Carly: Mrs. Bennett, I'm Dr. Manning. I was the one treating your son.

Mrs. Bennett: Is he all right?

Carly: Ma'am, I'm terribly sorry. Your son suffered cardiac arrest, and we weren't able to revive him.

Mrs. Bennett: [Crying] Oh, no, no. Where is he? I need to see him. I need to see my son.

Carly: He's in the room right over there, but maybe it would be best if you--

Mrs. Bennett: [Crying] No!

Bo: You gonna be okay?

Carly: I'm not worried about me.

Hope: I may have to page your mommy, Theo, so you both need to wait here a minute, okay?

Theo: Okay.

Ciara: Mommy?

Hope: Yes, honey?

Ciara: Can I buy the "hold me" doll when we get to Salem Place?

Hope: Uh, Ciara... honey, as we discussed, that's a very expensive doll. And besides, don't you remember? You said you were gonna buy it by saving up your allowance.

Ciara: Daddy!

Bo: Hey, there, little one.

Hope: Hey.

Bo: Oh! Thank you, that's a great hug. Theo. How you doing? Hey.

Hope: Hey. I didn't expect to see you here. What's up?

Bo: Yeah, well, we had a little incident... a drive-by--lost a witness. I just need to finish up this paperwork. And I could really use a break. You guys headed over to Salem Place?

Hope: They are, yes. As soon as I can find Abe and Lexie.

Ciara: Daddy, can I buy the "hold me" doll today?

Hope: Ciara--

Ciara: Please, please, please?

Hope: Honey, what did we just talk about?

Bo: I don't see... hold on a second, baby. Um, yeah. I don't see why not. Here, why don't you give that to Theo's mommy or daddy. And that'll help you to get it, okay?

Ciara: Thank you, Daddy. I love you.

Hope: Uh--

Bo: [Chuckling] I love you too.

Hope: Can we talk for a sec?

Bo: Uh, why don't you go on right over there. We'll be right with you, okay?

Hope: Bo.

Bo: Yeah.

Hope: Uh... Ciara's supposed to buy that doll. That's the deal we made, remember? We talked about it at dinner last night?

Bo: [Sighs] Yeah, yeah. I'm ju--I spaced. Uh, I'm a little distracted here.

Hope: Look, it's okay. I know what it's like to be Daddy's little girl. And I completely understand why you want to give her everything that she wants, especially after what she's been through. Problem is, is that, uh... I start looking like the bad guy, you know, if I'm the only one saying no to her.

Bo: Right, it's not fair if I'm the one who's indulging her. Okay, so from now on, if she wants something special, she has to save her pennies.

Hope: You're not upset with me, are you?

Bo: Why would I be?

Hope: Because here I am complaining about you giving her money to buy a doll. Is it petty?

Bo: Petty? We're talking about raising our child. There's nothing more important than that.

Hope: Nothing. You're a good dad. Thank you for being open.

Bo: Hope, we grew apart... after we lost Zack and after Ciara was kidnapped, because we didn't confront our feelings and our differences. And we're not gonna let that happen again. We can't.

Ciara: Mommy and Daddy are sad again. And it's all because of me.

Theo: Because of you.

Ciara: Now I'll have to run away. If I don't, they can't be happy.

Lexie: I was asking a question, that's all.

Nicole: Right. It's just that when I said Taylor and EJ couldn't stand each other, you looked at me like I was gonna say something else.

Lexie: No, no. I mean, I-I... I mean, I know that Taylor's very uncomfortable around EJ and that he had issues over her moving into the mansion.

Nicole: They talked to you about it?

Lexie: They mentioned it.

Nicole: Well, what'd they say--I mean, specifically?

Lexie: Um, just that they were having some problems. You know what, Nicole? I-I really don't feel comfortable speaking for them, okay?

Nicole: Right. Okay. I just didn't think that they would be telling other people-- you know, not that they have anything to hide, of course, because Taylor thinks you're great.

Lexie: Mm.

Nicole: Other than that, uh, she doesn't want to be associated with anything DiMera. And the fact that, uh, I'm married to one, that doesn't make her very happy.

Lexie: I'm sure.

Nicole: EJ--what can I say, right? I mean, ever since Taylor took a job with Brady, he's been nonstop about how this whole thing's gonna be a disaster.

Lexie: Really?

Nicole: Mm-hmm.

Lexie: Why is that?

Nicole: Well, isn't it obvious? He hates Brady. And he's offended that Taylor would be working for him.

Lexie: I see. [Clears throat] Well, let's hope that they can, um... work things out.

Nicole: Let's. You know what? But I am totally optimistic. I just--I want them both to be happy so that we can all... live in peace... whatever it takes.

EJ: Let's go inside.

Bo: Okay, that should be everything.

Maxine: Well, if not, just call me. I can email it to your office.

Bo: Okay. Thanks, Maxine.

Maxine: Sure.

Bo: All done here. Abe and Lexie have the kids. So how about you and I have some "us" time?

Hope: Hmm, "us" time.

Bo: Mm-hmm.

Hope: Sounds great. Well, I won't be needing that.

Carly: Maxine, uh, Mr. Collins in 327 needs an injection--250 milligrams of, uh, triazine, please.

Nathan: Whoa, don't you mean "250 micrograms"?

Carly: That's what I said.

Nathan: Sorry, I must have heard you wrong.

Carly: Didn't I say "micrograms," Maxine?

Maxine: Actually, I heard "milligrams" myself. But no problem. I'll just take it right off the chart. You can write down exactly what you want.

Carly: Yeah. Thank you. I-I don't usually make mistakes like that. I shouldn't.

Nathan: You okay?

Carly: No. Actually, I'm not okay.

Abe: Hey, now, you guys just sit right here, okay? And I'll get the drinks. Hot chocolate for both of you, right?

Theo: Hot chocolate!

Ciara: Yes, please.

Abe: Okay, coming right up. I'm gonna get one for Mom too. She should be here any minute.

Ciara: [Whispering] No, Theo. Keep on your jacket. Now's our chance to run away.

Nicole: Mom, the doctor said the EKG was really good.

Faye: I know. Seems like the pills might be working.

Nicole: Okay, well, let's just hope that all the tests come back good.

Faye: God willing. Sweetie... there's, um... something I have been meaning to tell you.

Nicole: Uh-oh.

Faye: [Laughing] No. Honey... I am so proud of you.

Nicole: Me? [Chuckles] What for?

Faye: Honey, the way you've turned your life around-- it's just... it's just a great relief to me to see you finally happy.

Nicole: I am. I am, Mom. I'm--I'm--I'm happier than I've ever been. And I think it's because this time I-I married EJ with my eyes wide open.

Faye: Oh. I thought you told me that you didn't marry him for love.

Nicole: No... well, he didn't, anyway.

Faye: Ah, so you've fallen in love with him again. Is that what you're saying?

Nicole: Yes... it is, and... you know, what's weird I-is that... well, he doesn't know. He doesn't know that I love him as much as I do. And--and I think because we both have low expectations of this relationship, I think that's why it's actually gonna work this time, you know?

Faye: 'Cause you've taken the pressure off?

Nicole: Exactly. We're--we're calmer. We're more mature. We're direct with each other. We're totally honest. And there's no secrets... finally.

EJ: Oh, my God. I'm used to having control over my emotions... not this time.

Taylor: I know. It's the same for me... exactly the same.

Nathan: Look, losing that kid really hurt--I get it.

Carly: Well, of course it did. That's no excuse for me almost ordering the wrong dosage for my patient.

Nathan: Well, hey, you miss-poke. I mean, you would have written it correctly.

Carly: Would I?

Nathan: Carly... you got to stop punishing yourself over this. Nothing could have saved that kid. Do you realize the bullet damaged his heart?

Carly: I just keep going over and over what we did.

Nathan: Hey. All right, listen, hey. You think maybe you've been pulling a few too many doubles? You can't cover for everyone who wants a day off.

Carly: I like to stay busy.

Nathan: Maybe too busy. Don't you think maybe you should take a break?

Carly: Okay, yeah. I've got a break coming up in 15, okay?

Nathan: I mean a few days, Carly.

Carly: I... I'll think about it. What about you? How much longer do we have you for?

Nathan: Actually, it's my last day.

Carly: They threw your going-away party yesterday. I'm sorry. Nathan, I should have been there.

Nathan: You were working.

Carly: You are gonna be a great doctor. You're going to the best hospital in the country to work and advance your career. And, boy, are you gonna be missed around here.

Nathan: Yeah... not by everyone.

Carly: I'm sorry things didn't work out with you and Melanie.

Nathan: That's an understatement. When you're hoping to spend the rest of your life with someone just to find out that they want nothing to do with you...

Carly: Look, it's painful. It's hard to accept. I mean, you love someone more every day, and you make plans and dreams. And then it's just gone. It's all gone.

Bo: Just--just so we're clear here...

Hope: Uh-huh.

Bo: No more feeling petty. We're in this together, raising our daughter. Right?

Hope: We're in this together.

Bo: Yes.

Hope: Thank you...

Bo: Hmm.

Hope: For understanding.

Bo: Just so you understand that every once in a while, I will want to spoil our little princess.

Hope: Once in a while?

Bo: When it's mutually agreed, you know, that we can do that.

Hope: Mm-hmm. Right, tell me something, Daddy. Uh, what are you gonna do when our little girl becomes a teenager and, uh, brings home some biker guy with long hair and an attitude? What are you gonna do?

Bo: Kick his butt.

Hope: [Laughs] I knew you were gonna say that.

Bo: Ah, it's irrelevant anyway.

Hope: Oh, really? It is?

Bo: Yeah.

Hope: And, um, how is that?

Bo: Because our little girl isn't gonna want to date a hell-raiser like me.

Hope: Hmm.

Bo: And if she does, um, I'll just say... "no way in hell. You can't date him. Go to your room." And that'll be the end of it.

Hope: Oh, boy, are you looking through rose-colored glasses.

Bo: [Stammering] It doesn't really matter 'cause she's not gonna want to date... you know, till she's, like, 45 or something.

Hope: 60.

Bo: Yeah, even better.

Hope: Whatever.

Bo: You know... let's just enjoy our little family, okay? You, me, and our beautiful little daughter and the love that we share.

Hope: I love you.

Ciara: First we'll go outside. Then we'll go by the river. Then we'll keep walking until we're very far away, okay?

Theo: I can't leave Daddy.

Ciara: Oh. It's okay, Theo. You don't have to leave your daddy.

EJ: Oh, my God. Oh, just to be able to hold you, to feel you, I've never felt anything like this in my life.

Taylor: I know. I haven't either, EJ. And now...

EJ: Now we don't have to hide it. We can be together the way that we're meant to be. [Laughing]

Taylor: Mmm.

EJ: Hey. What's wrong? Hey.

Taylor: EJ, we can't do this.

Ciara: You stay with your family. Your mommy and daddy are happy. They'd be sad if you go with me.

Abe: All right, guys, we have, uh, hot chocolate, hot chocolate. Well, look here.

Lexie: Hi.

Abe: Hot chocolate for Mom. And coffee for me.

Lexie: Thank you.

Theo: I love you, Daddy. Love you, Mommy, love you.

Abe: Oh, my goodness.

Lexie: Honey, I-I love you too.

Abe: Yes, you bet we do. Hey, now, make sure that's not too hot before you take a sip.

Lexie: Yeah.

Abe: You saw that?

Lexie: Yeah.

Abe: Believe me, I love hearing my son say, "I love you, Daddy." But do you have any idea where that came from?

Lexie: No.

Jennifer: Hey, thanks for coming over.

Carly: No, I needed a break, believe me.

Jennifer: Good, good, 'cause I didn't want to bother you at the hospital and talk about personal stuff there.

Carly: Like what?

Jennifer: Um, I just-- I owe you an apology-- you and Daniel both, actually.

Carly: No, listen to me. You apologized for that. Thanks.

Jennifer: I know. But I really want you to understand. Sit down, sit down. I just--I-I didn't get it. I thought that you had gotten past everything with Bo, and I needed to realize that you were still hurting, and I didn't, and I am sorry.

Carly: Jennifer, don't make me out to be a martyr, okay? I mean... if I'm not over what happened with Bo, then I have to get used to it at least, right? I mean, he's with hope. And you--you must be pleased with that.

Jennifer: I am, Carly. I-I'm--I'm happy for them. But you're--you're my best friend. I-it's okay to have empathy for you, don't you think?

Carly: Yeah. Of course.

Jennifer: I mean, I just want to be there for you. I wanted to be there for you when you went through this whole mess with Lawrence.

Carly: No, Jennifer, you didn't.

Jennifer: Yes, yes, I did. And when you came back to Salem and Vivian tried to kill you or when you almost lost Melanie, I wanted to be here.

Carly: Well, when that was happening, I had Bo. That's over. It's time to move on.

Jennifer: Can you do that?

Carly: Give me a little credit. They didn't give me superpowers for no reason, okay? I'm tougher than they come.

Maxine: All right, Ms. Walker, you are good to go. This is your renewal for the statin medication. The pharmacy's been contacted about the drug for your arrhythmia, and they'll have it ready when you leave the building.

Faye: Thank you so much, Maxine.

Maxine: You're very welcome. And, uh, good luck.

Faye: Mm.

Maxine: I'll see you next month.

Faye: You got it.

Nicole: Mom, all your tests showed improvement. Isn't that great?

Faye: I know. And I'm feeling so much better. It's amazing.

Nicole: Now we just have to talk about where you'll be staying.

Faye: Honey, I told you. The guesthouse is very nice.

Nicole: Mm-hmm, yeah. But it's, uh--it's off all by itself, okay? Look, you're gonna be getting more and more restless the stronger you get. And I think you should live in the house with the rest of us.

Faye: Honey, the house is gonna be really crowded. We've discussed this. I am fine.

Nicole: Mom, there's, like, ten rooms on the second floor alone. And they've just remodeled the southeast wing. Come on, you're gonna love it.

Faye: Honey, I'm really--

Nicole: No arguing, no arguing. Nope, nope. Mom... my life right now, it's... it's everything I ever wanted. I want my whole family under one roof. It'll be perfect. Please--will you please just do this for me?

Faye: [Growls softly] Okay, Nikki, if it's really important to you...

Nicole: It is.

Faye: And if it really makes you happy.

Nicole: It does.

Faye: [Chuckling]

Nicole: More than you know. Come on.

Faye: All right. Okay.

EJ: What do you mean you can't do this?

Taylor: EJ...

EJ: Come on.

Taylor: My sister's so happy with her life now... finally. She has you and Sydney and Johnny and everything she's ever wanted. I just--I can't wreck that for her.

EJ: And I don't--I don't want you to.

Taylor: That's what would happen if you left her to be with me. Don't you understand that, EJ?

EJ: Taylor... that's not the plan. You have to see them a lot. Ok! Ready?

Carly: Really, I'll be fine.

Jennifer: I wish I could believe that. It's not like Bo and Hope live in Chicago. You have to see them a lot.

Nathan: [Sighs] Hey.

Jennifer: Hey, hi.

Nathan: Hello. Home.

Jennifer: Yeah?

Nathan: From my final shift at Salem University.

Carly: Wow. Hey.

Nathan: Carly, I see you took that break.

Carly: Yeah, you know what? And I'm late getting back, so--

Jennifer: What? Wait a minute. You cannot work all the time. What are you doing for dinner?

Carly: Uh, nothing. You want to go grab a sandwich at the cafeteria with me?

Jennifer: No, I don't. I'm gonna take you to Chez Rouge--6:00, and you're gonna call the hospital and tell them that you're not gonna be in for the rest of the evening.

Carly: All right, great. Sounds good. Listen, all the best to you, okay? It's been an honor.

Nathan: Thank you. You take care.

Carly: Thank you.

Nathan: All right.

Jennifer: 6:00. Yes.

Nathan: Is she gonna be all right?

Jennifer: I don't know. Right now it looks like she's got a long way to go.

Lexie: We'll be right back.

Abe: All right, guys. Yeah, there you go.

Ciara: I'll just run away after school tomorrow... before Mommy comes to pick me up.

Theo: Run away tomorrow?

Ciara: That's okay. You stay with your mommy and daddy.

Theo: Run away tomorrow.

Hope: Yeah. So I was thinking that maybe we'd use some of the techniques the therapist suggested-- making a list of choices, pros, cons... maybe even a little role-playing to help Ciara understand our point of view. What do you think?

Bo: I got a better idea. [Chuckling]

Hope: And what did that have to do with Ciara? You took my breath away.

Bo: Well, she'll see that her mommy and daddy love each other and that we're a team... and we make all our decisions together. What do you say?

Hope: We're a team... definitely.

Bo: Nice.

Hope: I love this time of day.

Bo: Yes. Um... [Chuckles] I was talking about the kiss.

Hope: So was I.

Bo: Oh, okay. Good.

Hope: Very nice. Very nice.

Bo: Mm-hmm. And, uh, I don't want to rush things, but... I would really like to be able to take this to the next level, you know, when--when you're ready.

Hope: Thank you.

Bo: Mm.

Hope: I-I-I don't think that I'm ready for that yet.

Bo: Okay, that's okay.

Hope: But you know what I am starting to think?

Bo: No, what?

Hope: That our best days are ahead of us.

Bo: I'm pretty sure they are.

EJ: O-o-okay, but that's just it. See, I told you, honey-- I found a way for us to be together where Nicole doesn't get hurt.

Taylor: EJ, that's impossible. Nikki would be devastated the minute she heard.

EJ: She won't. I mean, that's it. Nicole doesn't have to know.

Taylor: So what are you saying, that you think we should just have an affair?

Jennifer: Oh, I hate this.

Nathan: Mm.

Jennifer: You know, it's not just me. We're all gonna miss you so much.

Nathan: Oh, come on, Baltimore's not the end of the earth.

Jennifer: That's right. It's not. And we're gonna have visitors checking up on you regularly, whether you like it or not.

Nathan: Yeah, I'm sure.

Jennifer: And you know what? Aunt Maggie--she's already penciled in a weekend in may to come see you.

Nathan: Oh, great. Crab cakes for everyone.

Jennifer: Oh, I have something for you--hold on.

Nathan: Okay.

Jennifer: I want you to take this with you, but... I know I say this all the time. You remind me so much of grandpa.

Nathan: Yeah. You know, Great Gran gave me his medical bag for a reason.

Jennifer: That's right-- 'cause you're gonna be the next tom Horton. I know. I'm sorry. I shouldn't say that so much.

Nathan: No.

Jennifer: It puts a lot of pressure on you.

Nathan: It used to be. It used to be. But honestly, it's really cool. I hope so. You know, I'm sure gonna do my best to make sure it happens.

Jennifer: Then you'll succeed--you will. Johns Hopkins is so lucky to be getting you.

Nathan: [Softly] Thank you.

[Cell phone rings]

Jennifer: Oh, shoot. I'm sorry.

Nathan: No.

Jennifer: Oh, it's Abigail. I have to take it.

Nathan: Oh, get it, get it.

Jennifer: She's been in a spin all day about something. Hello? Hey, honey, how's it going? Hey.

Nathan: Well, Dr. Horton, it's time for this Dr. Horton to say good-bye.

Carly: What is that, Maxine?

Maxine: Uh, before he left, Dr. Horton ordered a mild tranquilizer for Mrs. Harper. She's been having trouble with anxiety.

Carly: Oh. You know what? She's sleeping. No, no, no, no. Take her down to X-ray and then give it to her when you get back, okay? I'll take that.

Maxine: Okay.

Carly: Thank you. Okay. Go, please, go. I didn't realize then that I married such a total monster!

Lawrence: And I married such a total bitch.

Carly: Stop it!

Lawrence: Ugh!

Carly: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Bo: No. No, don't be.

Carly: No, it's just all those horrible, panicky feelings that I had right before I killed Lawrence--they're coming back, and it's just the same.

Bo: No, no. Listen to me--it's not the same. You had to protect your daughter on your own. And you had no one there to help you. Now it's different. You have me.

Carly: [Crying] [Crying]

Nicole: All right, Mom, so don't worry about the stairs, okay? 'Cause you can always use the service elevator. Oh, or we could get you one of those chairs that attaches to the stairwell, you know?

Faye: Honey, would you stop it? I told you, I don't like being treated like an invalid. You know that. I can manage.

Nicole: Of course, you can. And you will. And, look, being with family is gonna speed up your recovery. God only knows, I mean, having my family around has been the best thing in the world. It literally has changed my whole outlook. So, come on, let's go surprise Taylor.

Faye: Okay, Nikki.

Nicole: Yeah, good, good. Come on, let's go.

Taylor: EJ, I need to know. Are you asking me to have an affair?

EJ: Look, I'm not asking you... to do anything. You and I both know what has to happen now.

On the next "Days of Our Lives" --

Jennifer: I think really great things are gonna happen for us here.

Stefano: Knock it off, Vivian, or your next piece of cake will be your last.

Sami: Don't you ever touch me again.
