Maggie: "Butt out"? Is that what you just said to me?
Maggie: And why should I?
Victor: Just how does this concern you?
Maggie: You and Brady saying terrible things to each other, and I should just be okay with that?
Victor: And how is that your business?
Maggie: Because it's just the way I am.
Victor: Oh? You always stick your nose in where it doesn't belong?
Maggie: When it's someone I love!
Victor: Someone...you love? What are you saying, Maggie?
Philip: Is there really any point to a decaf cappuccino?
Chloe: Well, maybe I'll sleep better. And so will Parker. Hey, I just wanted to thank you. I know it hasn't been easy for you to let me live at your house with Parker. I know your father hates the idea...and me.
Philip: That's too bad. Somebody had to give you a break.
Chloe: Well, just knowing that Parker and I aren't alone in this world has made a huge difference in how I feel already.
Philip: Well, I'm glad.
Chloe: I don't want you to worry about me, okay. I promise, I won't do anything stupid. You and Melanie, you have so many problems. You just need to focus on that.
Chloe: Seriously. Your wife just lost your baby. You need to take care of her.
Adrienne: I feel like I'm on a date.
Justin: Yeah. All of a sudden it's like... everything old seems... brand-new.
Hope: Which one of you ordered the full house on whiskey?
Adrienne: You're working here?
Hope: I stopped by to see Caroline. She looked completely exhausted, so I told her to go upstairs and take a rest...and I'd take over. It's on the house.
Justin: Wait, what's a full house and...scotch?
Adrienne: No. Oh, gosh, honey, whiskey. It's restaurant jargon. It means a grilled cheese on rye with bacon and tomato. Of course, that's his. I'm the grilled chicken Caesar salad.
Hope: Here you go. Enjoy. I'll leave you two alone.
Adrienne: No, you don't have to. We were just...you know...
Hope: Making out. And I, for one, could not be happier about it.
Rafe 2: So I just talked to the doctor. He says I'm cleared to come back to work, buddy. Yeah. [Chuckles] Me too, man. Be cool. Yeah. Okay, Bo, see you soon.
Sami: Excited to go back to work? You've gotta be sick of hanging out around here.
Rafe 2: Yeah, it's time.
Sami: I'm gonna... finish getting ready.
Rafe 2: Yeah. [Making gun-firing sounds] What a trip... being on the right side of the law, for once.
Nicole: Our mom showed up today...out of the blue. She's sick.
EJ: Really? I'm sorry. Well, it's nothing serious, is it?
Nicole: It's her heart. And Taylor and I don't want her living on her own anymore.
EJ: No. I mean, I completely understand.
Nicole: So...would it be okay if she moved into the guest house?
EJ: Of course. Abso-- do you think she'll be all right there? You just said you didn't want her living on her own.
Nicole: Well, she won't be. Taylor will look after her. She's moving in too.
EJ: Taylor's moving in here?
EJ: No, absolutely not.
Stefano: [Humming] How are you today?
Rafe: You gotta tell me who I am, and why you have me locked up in here.
Rafe: What are you talking about, "again"?
Stefano: I explained it to you over and over. Don't you remember?
Rafe: What, exactly, did you do to me?
Stefano: You know, I would not worry about that if I were you. If I were you, I would be more interested in what I'm going to do to you now.
Rafe 2: Yes.
Sami: Um, it's so funny-- I remember John, when I was a kid. He would always lock his service weapon in the...drawer of his bedside table.
Rafe 2: Yeah, I'm gonna keep it in the closet. The top shelf, you know. Should be safe there.
Sami: Yeah. Or, you know, we could do that gun safe, like we talked about, you know, before your accident.
Rafe 2: All right. Whatever you want.
Sami: Great. Great. 'Cause, you know, obviously, Johnny idolizes you, and he's always playing FBI man. And I'd hate it to get his hands on the real thing.
Rafe 2: Yep. Wouldn't want you taking another crack at EJ either, would we?
Nicole: Absolutely not? That's--that's how you talk to my sister?
Taylor: Hey, Nicole, it's okay.
Nicole: No, it's not okay.
EJ: Nicole...we just got married. Look, I'm really sorry that your mother is sick. And she's welcome to move in here. But that doesn't mean I want the entire family to follow her.
Nicole: You afraid the Walker Clan will be an embarrassment? Hey, Taylor Mae, you wanna go out back and see the cement pond?
EJ: That's not what I'm saying.
Nicole: EJ, my mother has a heart condition. And she needs someone with her full-time. And she wants that person to be her daughter.
EJ: I'm sorry, I still don't think this is a good idea.
Taylor: I don't want this any more than you do, EJ. Ask Nicole.
Nicole: This is a huge house, in case you haven't noticed. It's not like anyone will be underfoot. What is the problem?
Maggie: You know how much I care about your family.
Victor: My family?
Maggie: Yes. I'm Brady's sponsor. And this war between you two... it's not good for him. And I'm worried about Philip too...and Chloe. In spite of the fact that they broke Melanie's heart!
Victor: You didn't say, "someone I worry about." You didn't say, "someone I care about." You said, "someone that I love."
Maggie: Why are you parsing every sentence now? I thought you told me to butt out.
Victor: You're evading my question.
Maggie: I don't remember what it was.
Victor: You said you couldn't help butting your nose in when there was someone that you loved. And I asked you what did you mean by that? I'll make it simpler for you. Who is it that you love?
Maggie: I told you. Brady, Philip, and little Parker, of course.
Victor: But the person that you were yelling at was me.
Chloe: Did I say the wrong thing?
Philip: No. No. It's just...
Philip: Melanie told me that you asked her to be a part of Parker's life. She says you're afraid I'll bail.
Chloe: I shouldn't have said that.
Philip: It's okay. But I want you to know, I will not do that ever. Okay? And Melanie, she loves parker. She really does. It's me she has a problem with.
Chloe: I thought you two were working things out.
Philip: We were. We were, because of the baby. But now there is no baby. And Melanie said that-- it's kind of hard for me to talk about.
Chloe: Philip, I'm so sorry.
Sami: You're making a joke about me shooting EJ?
Rafe 2: Well, you're going on and on about how you hate guns.
Sami: I didn't say that I-- I just don't think it's funny.
Rafe 2: Well, it was funny. So why don't you just calm down, okay?
Sami: I'm not gonna calm down about you making a joke about me shooting EJ, and then almost losing my kids.
Rafe 2: Mmm.
Sami: You remember that part?
Rafe 2: Yeah, yeah. Totally.
Sami: 'Cause EJ made me tell Johnny that I don't love him. I almost lost Johnny and Sydney for good. You and will almost had to go to jail. Your sister died on EJ's side? Come on!
Rafe 2: Okay, really? I mean...it was a little joke, okay? Maybe in bad taste. Let's not fight, all right? Sorry, all right? Let's make up.
Sami: No. I don't want to. I just want to go.
Rafe 2: Where you going?
Sami: Out. God, what's wrong with him? What's wrong with me?
Nicole: EJ, please, this would mean a lot to me.
Taylor: Don't beg on my account, Nicole, please.
Nicole: I'm not begging, Taylor. EJ, you're always talking about family. Well, this is my family!
Taylor: I'll come and visit mom. I will come every day, Nicole. She will be okay with that.
Nicole: No, she won't. You heard her. She wants us all together. And you can make that happen. All you have to do is say yes.
Rafe: What else can you take from me?
Stefano: Was that a rhetorical question, or do you truly want to know? I mean... [Chuckles] Think it over... because you might not be happy to hear it.
Rafe: I want to know.
Stefano: Fine. Come in, gentlemen. All right, he's all yours. All right, I have a little information for you, since you are so curious. You have been a thorn in my side ever since I met you. But now...oh... those days...are no more.
Chloe: So there's no hope for you and Melanie?
Philip: She sounded pretty sure of herself earlier. I keep telling myself it's because she just got out of the hospital.
Chloe: Well, maybe she'll feel differently when she has a little time.
Philip: I hope so.
Chloe: Did she go back to-- I almost said "our place."
Philip: Yeah. Yeah, she's at Daniel's.
Chloe: That's good. He'll take good care of her.
Philip: I know.
Chloe: You know, I'm glad that he has Melanie to think about and worry about. Maybe he won't spend so much time thinking about how much he hates me.
Philip: Well, we've all been through hell, that's for sure.
Chloe: Well, you and I came out of it with this angel. You look so peaceful. Like he doesn't have a care in the world.
Philip: The two of us... we have to make sure he stays like that... no matter what's happening for us.
Chloe: We will. He's the only thing you and I did right.
Maggie: Listen, buster, I don't have frank discussions about my feelings with people who tell me to "butt out."
Victor: Well, then, I'll make it easier for you. Just think of it as a sliding scale. All you have to say is a number. Zero is for gross disdain, and ten is...well... ten is what it is. Where do I rate?
Maggie: You are absolutely insane!
Victor: You, Maggie Horton, are a ten.
Hope: So do the boys know?
Adrienne: About us?
Hope: Yea-- is there something else?
Justin: No, we haven't told them anything yet.
Hope: Are you kidding me? You're sitting, making out in the middle of the Brady Pub. Word's gonna get around.
Justin: Well, we've been trying to get 'em all together, but we just can't seem to make that happen.
Hope: You've gotta make it happen. Something as important as this, you've gotta make it happen.
Justin: Well, we haven't told them why we wanted to see them.
Hope: When they see the two of you looking at each other, they're gonna figure it out. What are you waiting for, anyway?
Hope: I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked. I'm out of line. Sorry.
Adrienne: It's all right, Hope. It's okay, really.
Sami: Hi. Hi. Oh, my gosh! It's so nice to see you.
Hope: Honey, it's so good to see you. Oh, Sami, honey... you got married. Congratulations.
Sami: Oh, I'm just so happy to have you back. Hi.
Hope: Hi. It's good to be back.
Sami: Um, you know what, I don't want to bother you. I'm sure you're in the middle of something, but is grandma around?
Hope: Actually, I sent her upstairs to lie down. She's exhausted. She was short-staffed for lunch. The Rotarians came in.
Sami: Oh, well... okay, well, if you just don't mind letting her know that I came by... and if you're still here, just have her call me, okay?
Hope: Of course. Sami, honey, it's so good to see you. Congratulations again.
Sami: Thank you.
Hope: Sami, wait a second, honey... is something wrong?
Sami: When isn't there something wrong?
Hope: Can I help?
Sami: No, no. You have enough on your plate.
Hope: My plate is clean. Please, I'd feel a lot better if you'd let me be your aunt hope again. Come on, sit down. Come on, tell me, what's going on?
Sami: Okay, well, I guess... either I'm going crazy or Rafe is.
Hope: What do you mean?
Sami: I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I don't have the same feelings for him anymore.
[Cell phone ringing]
Rafe 2: Listen, I just want to let you know I'm supposed to report back to Salem P.D. Today.
Stefano: Good. Just don't screw it up.
Rafe 2: Yeah, it's gonna be different, pretending to be a cop. Hey, maybe I should practice by walking around with a stick up my ass.
Stefano: Look good, at first, okay? And do everything by the book. And then, little by little, our dear Rafael's life will start to fall apart. His marriage. His reputation as a stepfather, and as a cop.
Rafe 2: Yeah, well, I think I'm on schedule with that one.
Stefano: All right, but don't rush it, all right? Because if you move too quickly, it will arouse suspicion.
Rafe 2: Don't worry. I know what I'm doing.
Nicole: EJ, please.
EJ: Can we discuss this privately?
Taylor: Yes. I will go.
Nicole: No, you'll stay here. Harold is giving my mother a tour of the guest house, so when she comes back, do I have to tell her that you've decreed that Taylor can't live here?
EJ: Fine. Okay. If it means that much to you, she's welcome to stay.
Nicole: Thank you. You won't regret this, I promise.
EJ: I hope not.
Maggie: We just had our first argument.
Victor: We argue all the time.
Maggie: No. I tell you what's wrong with you, and you laugh at me--that's not an argument. Today I told you what to do about Brady, and you told me to mind my own business. That's an argument! Makes me realize how much I care about your family. Yes, and you.
Victor: Well...hallelujah. [Laughs]
Maggie: But nothing is really any different, Victor. I saw your face when you were looking at Brady. It was the face of the man I used to hate. The guy that I have to keep at arm's length.
Victor: Why can't I get angry? Brady went behind my back and stole my company!
Maggie: Everyone needs to have the rug pulled out from under them now and then, especially you. Still think I'm a ten?
Victor: I always respected people who aren't afraid of me.
Maggie: Unless they're related to you... or married to you.
Victor: Well, why don't you try it. You may find out that you're wrong.
Maggie: No, thanks.
Victor: What are you afraid of?
Maggie: That you'll break my heart. Or that I'll break yours. I'm not about to let that happen.
Sami: I guess my biggest mistake was in thinking that Rafe was perfect.
Hope: Your knight in shining armor.
Sami: Exactly. I mean, I can't even begin to list the calamities that have happened to me since I met Rafe. And he's been there for me every single time. And when EJ was playing me, and I refused to see it, Rafe never gave up on me. I would be married to EJ right now if it' weren't for Rafe.
Hope: Well, sounds like a great guy.
Sami: He is. He is, and now my life is finally, you know, better, and he's...
Hope: What? Human?
Sami: It's just that I never thought in a million years Rafe would ever do anything to hurt me. And yet, he does something... on a daily basis. I mean, tiny little stupid things, but--
Hope: But it still hurts. When did you start feeling like this?
Sami: He was in a car accident...that was totally my fault. I mean, you know how I get, and EJ made me mad, so I just took off in the car. And Rafe thought I was dangerous, so he came after me. And he got in a car accident. Luckily, he only had a concussion. But then, all this started to happen, and so I made him go back for an MRI. But he's fine.
Hope: Fine physically. You know, maybe, uh-- maybe he's having some sort of emotional reaction.
Sami: I just miss him. I just miss Rafe, you know? And I just wonder if he's ever gonna go back to being that guy again.
Hope: Have you talked to your mom about this?
Sami: No. I know what she's gonna say, Aunt Hope. She's gonna say I have to give him time, just like Aunt Kayla did. And then she'll consider suggesting therapy.
Hope: Mm-hmm. That sounds like really good advice.
Sami: I don't think this Rafe is the kind of guy who'll want to go through therapy.
Hope: All right, well, how about-- well, you know what, if there is something that's bothering him, something that he's completely unaware of, then... all right, there is one other thing you could try.
Hope: What about hypnosis?
Nicole: So I will talk to mom and see when it's best for her to move in, and then I'll keep in touch with you.
Nicole: Oh, um... EJ, it's time for me to bring Johnny and Sydney over to Sami's. Okay? I won't be long.
EJ: Okay. Mm. I'll be here when you get back.
Nicole: Okay. Bye. Later.
EJ: Well... this is an absolutely abominable idea, isn't it?
Taylor: You got that right.
Victor: So you're afraid you'll break my heart, huh? At least you acknowledge that I have a heart.
Maggie: I never said you didn't have a heart. Your ability to ignore what's in it is what gives me a problem. I have to go.
Victor: Where are you going? You just got here.
Maggie: I came by to see how Chloe was doing. Henderson said she went out with the baby. So if you will excuse me...
Victor: No. My heart is telling me something right now, and I hear it loud and clear. You want to know what it is?
Maggie: All right, Victor, what is it?
Victor: It's this.
Adrienne: I want you to know I don't have any expectations.
Justin: See, that's the thing about me-- I'm a planner. You may have noticed that about me over the years.
Adrienne: Oh, yeah, well...
Justin: I like things to be clear-cut, you know? Mapped out.
Adrienne: Yes, I've seen your sock drawer.
Justin: And I had this all mapped out too.
Adrienne: No kidding.
Justin: But the thing is... nothing's working out the way I planned it.
Sami: Hypnotism? You think that Rafe is repressing something?
Hope: I don't know. Maybe. Could be.
Sami: I always think I'm the one who needs all the patience and understanding. Rafe's certainly hung in there with me longer than anyone.
Hope: It sounds like he's going through an awfully rough time right now. And it's your turn to be his rock.
Sami: I'm not sure I'm grown up enough for that.
Hope: Sami... honey, life tests us all the time. The important thing is not to let it drive you apart.
Rafe 2: Hey!
Rafe 2: Good to see you. What's up, man? How you doing?
Nicole: On your way out?
Rafe 2: No, I've got time.
Rafe 2: So, Johnny, just in case you're interested, I set up that new space invaders game in your room.
Johnny: You did?
Rafe 2: Yeah. Come on, would I lie to you? It's in there. Go check it out.
Johnny: It is?
Rafe 2: It is. Why don't you take your sister with you.
Nicole: All right.
Rafe 2: So what's up?
Johnny: Come on, Syd.
Nicole: Are you sure Sydney's old enough to play video games?
Rafe 2: Oh, no, he's gonna crush her, but it'll keep 'em busy for a while.
Nicole: Why are you all dressed up?
Rafe 2: Oh, this? Yeah, I'm going back to the force today, so... but I don't have to go for a while so I can hang out, watch the kids and, uh... you want a drink?
Taylor: Look, I tried to talk Nicole and my mom out of having me move in here, but Nicole kept asking me what the big deal is, and I didn't know what to say.
Taylor: I was counting on you to get me out of this, and you totally caved.
EJ: I didn't cave. I just didn't see that your moving in would be a problem.
Taylor: You think?
EJ: I do think, actually. I had a conversation with my sister earlier, in which she informed me that you were over me.
Taylor: Over you?
EJ: Over me.
Taylor: Oh, please. What's to get over? Except a stupid physical attraction that I can totally control.
Taylor: You listen to me. No man is as important to me as my sister. I am not gonna hurt her. Never again.
EJ: That's good to know.
Taylor: You don't believe me? I could sleep in the same bed with you, and nothing would happen.
EJ: Really? You want to put that to the test?
Stefano: You always did prefer doing things the hard way. Mm-hmm. When will he ever learn?
Adrienne: Is something wrong?
Justin: I just had this scene in my head. And then I started thinking, I don't even know what you're going to say.
Adrienne: To them? I--I--
Justin: No. No, not to them. To me. So...maybe I should just find out. Adrienne, will you marry me... for a third time?
Sami: So this thing with Rafe and me, it's not that weird, huh?
Hope: No. No, not at all. Of course, I will say it's not fun to feel like the person you love is a complete stranger.
Hope: I know about that. So does your Uncle Bo. Ahem.
Sami: How are things between the two of you?
Hope: We've come a long way. We're both trying. Just not there yet.
Sami: I'm sorry.
Hope: But you know what I will say? It's getting better every day.
Sami: That's great news.
Sami: That's the thing. For me, it's the opposite. Every day it just gets a little bit worse.
Nicole: You want me to have a drink with you?
Rafe 2: Sure.
Rafe 2: Well, I thought maybe you'd want to spend some time with the kids. Unless, of course, you've gotta run back to Herman Munster and his daddy.
Nicole: You trying to set me up?
Rafe 2: Why would you say that?
Nicole: Because in all the time that I've known you, the only time you'd offer me a drink is when I had something you wanted.
Rafe 2: Oh, yeah? Well...how 'bout a truce? Sami's happy some of the time. EJ's happy. How 'bout you and I, we bury the hatchet, huh, babe? Hmm? Come on.
Nicole: Well, maybe if I stay here a little while, you know, it'll give EJ and my sister some time to work things out.
Rafe 2: Work things out? What's up? You guys just got married. Trouble in paradise already?
Nicole: No, no. EJ and Taylor didn't exactly hit it off. It's no big deal.
Rafe 2: Uh-huh. Well, I'm having a beer. You want one?
Nicole: I thought you said you have to work.
Rafe 2: I do. You're right. So no beer. But that doesn't mean that you can't have one. You've probably got that DiMera chauffer out there with the car idling, whatnot. Don't have to worry about driving.
Rafe 2: Yeah. God, look at you. Living the good life.
Rafe 2: Live it up.
Nicole: I am.
Rafe 2: All right, do it.
Nicole: What are we drinking to?
Rafe 2: Hmm...truce. One big, happy family.
Taylor: Okay, talking about you and me in bed... that was a bad call.
EJ: Well, it certainly was a little bit provocative, to say the least.
Taylor: What I was trying to say is that I just found out that my mom has a bad heart, and it could kill her. That kind of puts all of this into perspective.
EJ: Well, that is the reason why I dropped my objection to you staying here.
Taylor: Oh. Well, I mean, you already told me that you hate the way you feel when you're around me.
EJ: Well, I know how to control myself. You do too, so everything's gonna be fine.
EJ: Right. Right.
Maggie: What are you doing?
Victor: You said you were on your way out.
Victor: And don't come by here checking on Chloe unless you're prepared to have a serious conversation.
Maggie: Oh! Hello.
Maggie: I just came by to see how you are.
Philip: I'll let you two talk.
Maggie: Thank you, Philip.
Chloe: Philip has just been so great.
Chloe: I was just saying that Philip has been so wonderful. Are you okay?
Maggie: Uh... I don't know how to answer that.
Philip: Hey, dad. Ran into Maggie outside. She came by to see Chloe, I guess. Dad? Something wrong?
Adrienne: I already have an engagement ring.
Justin: No, you don't. You threw it at me. I couldn't find it.
Adrienne: Right, yes.
Justin: Besides, I wanted to start fresh. If you picked up this ring, you'd look and see that I had it engraved. It says, "a new beginning."
Adrienne: You had it engraved? Means you can't take it back.
Adrienne: Lucky for you that, uh... I want to be your wife again more than anything in the world.
Justin: Okay. Give me your hand. There you go.
Hope: Okay, so what are you gonna do?
Sami: People in this town have called me a lot of things, but "quitter" isn't one of them.
Hope: Absolutely. You are not a quitter.
Sami: [Chuckles] Hope, I love Rafe. I'm married to Rafe. I'm gonna do whatever it takes to make this work.
Stefano: Keep me updated on his condition.
Man: Will do. What the hell? Oh, man! This wasn't supposed to happen.
Rafe 2: So let me tell you this. I roll down my window, and this cop, you know, he's pulled me over. He comes up to me and says, "hey, you know that you were doing 80 in a 55?" I said, "no, but if you hum it for me, I could probably fake it."
Nicole: You did not. That's hysterical.
Rafe 2: I did. I did it. Then I showed him the old badge.
Nicole: Ah, yes. I see that.
Rafe 2: You want to touch it?
Nicole: Oh, that's, um--
Rafe 2: It's heavy.
Nicole: Hmm, I bet it is.
Rafe 2: Yeah.
Nicole: Yeah. Put that back on your belt. Wait a minute. So you're going back to work as a cop on the same day as you got your first speeding ticket?
Rafe 2: Looks like.
Rafe 2: Oh, man. What?
Nicole: Um, I'm actually sitting here enjoying myself... with you. Who are you, and what have you done with Rafe?
Rafe 2: [Chuckles] Yeah.
Taylor: You know, my living here might be a good idea.
EJ: Really? How so?
Taylor: Well, seeing you all the time. It could end all of my romantic notions.
Taylor: Yes. For all I know, you spend your off hours sitting around in a tee shirt, smoking cigars, and watching wrestling.
EJ: Hmm. I don't know, maybe you are onto something. I don't suppose you're addicted to gossip magazines, are you? Do you end all your sentences with a preposition? Because then you'd bore me entirely. In fact, if I can be completely honest, you're beginning to bore me already.
On the next “Days of our Lives" --
Vivian: I can handle Kate Roberts DiMera.
Kate: Come on, what the hell is going on in that apartment?
