Stefano: [Laughs] So you showed Rafael the picture of Samantha kissing our man.
EJ: Well, I had to refute his rather arrogant assertion that because of their great love, Samantha would be able to see through any impostor regardless of how striking the resemblance.
Stefano: Uh-huh. Did he acknowledge that he was wrong?
EJ: No, of course, he didn't. He's pretty rattled, though.
Stefano: I thought that you were determined to get married in the church.
EJ: Mmm, yeah, Father Matt didn't seem to think it was such a good idea. He kept ranting about some, um, recent debacle at a christening.
Stefano: Oh. Poor priest, did not want a sham wedding on his conscience.
EJ: A sham wedding? You know Nicole and I are getting married legally, right?
Stefano: Yes, but you are marrying a woman that you do not love, all right? And especially at this time, it's dangerous.
EJ: Dangerous? Father, it's not like she's going to go downstairs and discover that we have Rafe ensconced in the basement.
Stefano: That's not the danger I was thinking about.
Chloe: Hey, Nicole, come in.
Nicole: You look...beat.
Chloe: Oh, yeah, well, I'm a little sleep-deprived. Parker has been up most of the night.
Nicole: Mmm. Hey, Parker. Well, then I guess this isn't a good time to tell you my good news!
Chloe: Good news?
Nicole: Yeah. I'm getting married. The wedding's back on.
Chloe: Is that good news?
Nicole: Yes, it is for me. And it wouldn't be the same if my BFF wasn't standing next to me as my maid of honor. So, what do you say?
Lexie: Thank you.
Taylor: Didn't expect to see you two here.
Abe: [Laughing] Hey.
Abe: We're waiting on Theo.
Lexie: Yeah, he's, um, in occupational therapy this morning.
Abe: What are you doing here, Taylor?
Taylor: Um, looking for a job, actually. They advertised for someone to clerk in the gift shop.
Abe: Well, that doesn't sound like the most interesting job in the world.
Taylor: I know, but I can't keep mooching off of you guys, or Nicole, if I want to stay here in Salem. And I do.
Daniel: You're doing well. You're a good healer.
Jennifer: A compliment from you? I'm stunned.
Daniel: Don't push your luck.
Carly: Good morning. How is she?
Daniel: Well, she's doing well for someone who went through what she went through. And then she tried to break out of here last night.
Jennifer: Uh, he exaggerates.
Jennifer: How is, uh, Hope? I'm just going crazy thinking about her. Are they planning on putting her back in prison?
Carly: Nobody knows, but we will soon. It's going to be decided today.
Bo: Justin called me at the crack of dawn, told me your hearing's this morning.
Bo: You look great. How you doin'?
Hope: Scared. Not of going back to prison. That I can handle.
Bo: Then what?
Hope: I'm scared of having to say good-bye to Ciara again. And... a--
Hope: It's just that, uh... when you and I were, uh, hiding out together, I felt that, um... that we were, you know, working together in a way that, um...
Bo: We hadn't in a long time.
Hope: Like we were a team. Anyway, uh, so these, uh... these calls that, um, you've been making, have you been getting anywhere?
Bo: Not yet, but, uh, I'm not giving up. Justin's talking to the D.A. right now.
Hope: The D.A.? You do remember that the D.A. was one of my victims.
Bo: How'd it go, man?
Justin: So the D.A.'s office has refused to deal. I'm sorry. The hearing's still on.
Bo: You know what? There's one thing I haven't tried yet, so you hang tight.
Stefano: I cannot understand why you are going ahead with this wedding. We have finally commandeered Samantha's life. Why do you want to complicate your own by marrying a woman that you don't even love?
EJ: I keep telling you, Father, I'm doing this for the children.
Stefano: Because Nicole happens to be good with Giovanni and Sydney? For goodness gracious sake, you can hire a nanny, all right? Any competent nanny could do the same thing, and you don't have to make sure that she signs a pre-nup.
EJ: It's not just about having a babysitter in my life, Father. I would like a woman in my life, too.
Stefano: Ahh. Now I know what's going on here.
Chloe: Do you really want a maid of honor who looks beat and has bags under her eyes?
Nicole: Just go heavy on the concealer. It'll be fine.
Chloe: Okay, fine. I'd be honored.
Chloe: [Laughs] You know, I'm actually really happy that something's going right for one of us. You know what, he is gonna be hungry soon.
Nicole: He's so cute.
Chloe: Okay, Parker, my man, it is time to eat.
Nicole: Chloe are you-- you gonna heat that bottle?
Chloe: Oh, yeah. God, I keep forgetting to do that.
Nicole: Are you okay?
Chloe: Why does everybody keep asking me that?
Stefano: All right, marrying Nicole is your way to convince Samantha that the past is the past. Am I right?
EJ: I'm not sure that I really understand your reasoning.
Stefano: All right, if you marry Nicole, all right? It's your way to have Samantha conclude that if you can forgive Nicole for what she did, right? Then you are telling Samantha the truth about forgiving her for what she did. Huh? And you can play her, and she'll never know it.
EJ: Well, if that happens, it will be a bonus. But I am marrying Nicole because she makes me laugh and because she loves the children and because I want her in my life.
Stefano: Oh, my God. It's worse than I thought. Elvis...[Groans] Are you falling in love with this woman?
Chloe: See? He's fine. I know what I'm doing.
Nicole: I never said you didn't. And I--I know it wouldn't kill him to have a cold bottle, but it could give him a stomachache and make it hard--
Chloe: Okay, Nicole, I would have remembered.
Nicole: I'm sorry.
Chloe: Okay, well, tell me about you and your wedding. Are you happy?
Nicole: I am. I am. It's not the wedding of my dreams. It's more of an arrangement for Johnny and Sydney, but I love those kids.
Chloe: What about EJ?
Nicole: Well, I'm not kidding myself. Wasn't long ago that we were at each other's throats, but I did love him once, and you remember that. But ever since Johnny got sick, it's changed him.
Chloe: Are you sure?
Nicole: Well, he's still Stefano's son. But I've always had a soft spot for a bad boy. You're not saying much.
Chloe: Well, what is there to say? If this is what you want, then I'm happy for you.
Nicole: It is what I want. And, actually, nothing's gonna get in the way this time.
Abe: Does Nicole know you've decided to stay in Salem?
Taylor: Uh, no, but she will soon. And, uh, trouble is, I don't think she's gonna love the idea.
Lexie: I still don't get that.
Taylor: But she's not gonna talk me out of staying.
Taylor: Yeah. Nicki didn't have any family here when she married EJ the last time.
Abe: Well, the way that marriage ended, it must have been a bad omen.
Taylor: No, I know, right? So this time, there's gonna be someone sitting on the bride's side of the aisle, whether the bride likes it or not.
Lexie: Wow. Are you sure you two are sisters?
Taylor: Are you sure you're a DiMera?
Lexie: Uh! Touché!
Taylor: No, look, I haven't met EJ yet, but from what I've heard of his family, you must feel a little out of place at reunions.
Carly: Um, I'm not privy to a whole lot of information about Hope. Bo and I split up.
Daniel: I'm sorry.
Carly: Me, too.
Daniel: Are you okay?
Carly: Been better. Fact is, Bo was there for me when I needed him, and I'm a much stronger person than I was when I came back to Salem. And hope needs him now. You know, the hearing's today. They're gonna decide whether she serves the rest of her sentence.
Jennifer: Yeah, did Bo tell you all of that?
Carly: I was subpoenaed to testify.
Daniel: By which side?
Carly: Hope's. I can't be at the hearing. I have surgery scheduled, but I'm gonna give a deposition. It's gonna go into the record.
Jennifer: So ridiculous. She shouldn't even be in prison.
Carly: And I will do everything I can to make sure she doesn't go back.
Jennifer: Thank you.
Daniel: That's pretty decent of you, all things considered.
Carly: When you love someone, you want them to be happy, right? And I realize that for Bo, true happiness is being with Hope.
Victor: And if it's not legal, then who controls the company, me, Brady, or Vivian? Thank you. You look familiar. Do I know you?
Bo: Didn't come here to play games.
Victor: No? What did you come here for?
Bo: I'd like you to help me get Hope out of the mess she's in, and I don't give a damn how you do that.
Chloe: Well, hopefully, he'll sleep for a while.
Nicole: So tell me what's going on, and be honest.
Chloe: Well, life is... it's just a bit rough right now. I take it one day at a time. But, you know, I don't want to talk about me. I'm really sick of that topic. I'd rather feel happy for you.
Nicole: You know, Chloe, I, uh... I was miserable for so long. And now I feel like something's been lifted. You know, spending time with EJ and taking care of Sydney, and it's starting to feel like it used to. Like when we loved each other.
EJ: Oh, come on, Father! I'm not falling in love with Nicole!
Stefano: All right, then what is this marriage, all right? It's not about love, it's not about the plan. What is it?
EJ: It's about the future.
Stefano: The future? Will you please stop talking in riddles, all right? Elvis, you're making me dizzy!
EJ: Look, I may not love Nicole, okay? But that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy being with her. And when the children are with me, I want them to have a mother figure, not a nanny.
Stefano: You know, when I think of a mother figure, uh-uh, it is not Nicole.
EJ: See, Father, that's the reason why I like her. She's not patronizing to the children. She doesn't talk down to them. She listens to them. She takes them seriously, and they really like that.
Stefano: Well, you, uh... you present a very good argument, yes. Hmm. I mean, after all, you have this arrangement with Samantha, and Rafael's not around to stick his nose into anything. You have your children at home with you, and you have a beautiful woman standing by your side. You know, an outsider might think that you have it all. But... I'm not an outsider. And I'm wondering if what you have is enough.
Victor: Just what are you asking me to do?
Bo: Hope has a hearing this morning that decides whether she goes back to prison or not. The judge is the honorable Edward J. Callahan.
Victor: Maximum Ed, huh?
Bo: Maximum sentence Ed, yes.
Victor: You know, I gave him that nickname.
Bo: I'm not getting anywhere with the D.A.'s Office, State Attorney General's Office. I've called my congressman, the state representative. No one, for some reason, wants to be involved with this particular case. So I'd like you to call your old pal, Governor Ford, and have him tell Callahan to back the hell off.
Victor: You're asking me to do something outside the law. I'm shocked, I tell you. Shocked.
Bo: Will you do it?
Victor: You know, I don't know what's happening to this family. Your mother is hacking into computer records. Brady is pulling hostile takeovers.
Victor: And now you arrive here with your little hat in your hand asking me to buy a judge. But then it's different for you, isn't it? Because your motives are pure.
Bo: You're really going to lecture me on morality?
Victor: Are you really ditching everything that you stand for?
Bo: You gonna help me or not?
Victor: In a word, no.
Hope: I know Bo wants to help me, but it sounds as if there's not really much he can do.
Justin: Don't underestimate Bo... or his love for you.
Hope: I don't know if Bo still loves me. Justin, all the time that we were together on the run, he never once said those words. Or ever alluded to the fact that he may, you know, still have feelings for me.
Justin: Did you say anything to him?
Hope: No. Why would I?
Justin: Then you still love him.
Hope: I've never stopped.
[Knock at door]
Justin: Come in.
Cop: You've got a visitor.
Hope: Who is it?
Carly: It's me. Um, I was hoping that we could talk for a few minutes?
Hope: Sure, yeah.
Justin: Excuse me. I'll leave you two alone.
Carly: I, uh--I just gave a deposition for the defense, because I can't be at your hearing, but, um, I wanted you to know that I told them everything I can think of to help your case.
Hope: Thank you. I guess I would have understood if you did just the opposite.
Carly: Why, because of Bo? I'd like to think I'm a better person that that.
Hope: I don't know if he'll ever be able to forgive me for what I've done to him.
Carly: You know what I think? That he already has.
Victor: Look, I don't want Hope to go back to jail any more than you do, and I'm heartened by the fact that you're willing to sell your soul for her.
Bo: Why aren't you picking up the phone?
Victor: Because Hope has this nasty habit of wanting to play fair. It's the Horton genes. And the reason she loves you so much--the main reason-- is because you feel the same stupid, misguided way. And if she thought you sacrificed that for her sake, she wouldn't be able to live with herself.
Bo: Thanks for the insight.
Victor: But what I will do, I will call Governor Ford on Hope's behalf and respectfully ask for a pardon. I won't ask him to lean on Callahan or do anything else that Hope might find remotely shady.
Bo: Thank you. But if this doesn't work, Hope goes back behind bars, and Ciara gets to grow up without her mother. For all the moments that make every day special.
Hope: Hi. Uh...
Bo: I, uh... just came from talking to Victor.
Hope: So that was the one thing you hadn't tried yet--Victor.
Bo: Yeah. Asked him to call the governor.
Hope: Bo, I appreciate what you're trying to do. I don't want to go free because Victor fixed it with the governor. And I don't like you going outside of the system. It's not good for you.
Bo: Not like it's the first time. [Cell phone ringing] Here we go. It's Victor. Hey.
Taylor: Hey, buddy! Oh. [Gasps] What have you got there?
Abe: Well, this is his project for O.T.
Taylor: Oh, it's beautiful.
Lexie: Isn't it? I'm pushing for matching earrings.
Taylor: [Laughs] Hey, come here. Let me see that. Let's go over here. You want to sit down? Here, sit right here. Did you figure out that design all by yourself? Yeah? Can you show me how to string those beads? You know, I think you could sell these on the internet.
Abe: You know, she's like the Pied Piper with him.
Lexie: Yeah, I mean, he's only known her a couple of days.
Abe: Our son seems to be a good judge of character.
Stefano: I don't care how you spin it, but I think you are settling for Nicole.
EJ: If I didn't have children, I might agree. But, Father, I do have children, okay? And I want a happy life with my children. If I learned anything from taking them away from Samantha, it's that it doesn't matter how much I love them, or how much I spoil them. They're not happy if they have a father in their life without a mother. Now, there's only two women in this world who can fill that void. One of them is Samantha, the other is Nicole.
Stefano: Mmm. Whom you despised, all right? Till she came and bartered with Samantha for her taped confession.
EJ: She's headstrong, okay? She's undisciplined. I know that.
Stefano: Yeah. Right. And she's untrustworthy, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
EJ: Father, I said that I want a happy life, huh? Not a boring one. Love, huh? Love gets you shot in the head.
Stefano: Ever the cynic.
EJ: Father, love just distorts the picture. It fogs the lens, and I need to see clearly.
Stefano: Well, I certainly hope that Nicole sees as clearly as you do in this situation.
EJ: She understands very clearly.
Stefano: I hope so, for your sake.
Nicole: Hi, guys.
EJ: Hey. Um... Father, I... maybe we should just leave you alone to, uh... take care of some of those business calls.
Stefano: You're much too considerate. Excuse me.
Nicole: Hoo. I thought he'd never leave.
Jennifer: Hi, what's going on? Any word?
Carly: I stopped in to see hope at the police station.
Daniel: You did?
Jennifer: How is she doing?
Carly: Anxious, but she said Bo told her that he wouldn't give up until she has her freedom.
Carly: And when Bo doesn't give up on somebody that--
Daniel: No, no, no. Come here, come here, come here.
Carly: [Crying] I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Bo: Yeah, okay. Thanks.
Hope: It didn't work, did it?
Bo: No. The governor said that this case is too loaded for him to intervene. Sorry I let you down.
Hope: No. No, you didn't. Look, no matter what happens, I'll never forget what you've done for me. Thank you.
Justin: Okay. It's time for the hearing.
Hope: Let's do it.
Abe: Here's to Theo's excellent report card.
Stefano: Hear, hear.
Lexie: Oh. Glad you finally made it, Father.
Stefano: Well, sweetheart, where in the world would I be on such a special occasion, huh? Theodore, good for you. You know, one day, you are gonna surpass everybody at this table, you know that?
Lexie: Mm-hmm. Have you met Taylor Walker?
Stefano: Oh. Oh, yes, they told me that Nicole's sister was in town. But, uh, nobody told me you were so lovely.
Stefano: Are you here for the wedding?
Taylor: I was sort of thinking that, yeah.
Stefano: Good, good.
Lexie: She's been staying with us since she got to Salem.
Stefano: Oh, yes.
Abe: Yes. And Theo's just crazy about her. Aren't you, Theo?
Abe: Oh, you know what? I got to get to a meeting right now. Oh, gosh, Stefano. I'm so sorry I can't spend more time with you.
Stefano: I know, I know.
Lexie: Well, Theo and I have a movie date, right, sweetheart?
Stefano: Whoa, whoa. What about school?
Lexie: Uh, parent-teacher conferences, my goodness. I lost track of time. We've gotta go. Um, give your grand-daddy a hug.
Stefano: Good-bye, sweetheart. Mmm...Theodore? I am so proud of you. Yes.
Taylor: Bye, Theo. See ya.
Lexie: Bye, honey.
Stefano: Bye, darling.
Taylor: Well, uh, sorry. I have to be going, too.
Stefano: Wait. Have I, uh, offended you in any way?
EJ: Mmm. So is that the way you're going to, um, greet me every time you come home?
Nicole: Well, after yesterday, I'd say the chances are excellent, yes, mm-hmm.
EJ: About that, um, exciting though it was...
Nicole: Well, listen, if you're worried that I have the wrong idea, don't be. I know where things stand with us.
EJ: Good. I wouldn't want to mislead you.
Nicole: Friends with benefits. I get it.
EJ: Actually, um, I was rather hoping we could be a little bit more than that.
Nicole: Mr. DiMera, what exactly do you mean?
EJ: Come here.
Chloe: See, Parker, I am a good mother. 'Cause good mommies make their kids homemade cookies and get 'em cold milk in a pitcher, not some tacky old carton with lipstick on the spout. And, you know what, I can handle going to Nicole's wedding, even if the guests think I'm the whore of Babylon. Think I'm losing my mind because I lost my husband. You know what? I am not gonna go there, because I am in a good place. Look at me. I am baking delicious cookies with my little man. And everything is great. [Cell phone ringing] Okay, coming, coming, coming. Uh, hello. Yes. Oh, okay. Uh, great, I will be right there to pick it up. Thanks. Okay, sweetie, your prescription is ready. Oh, and you are finally asleep. Oh. If I put you in that car, you are gonna start screaming again. You know what, the pharmacy's only a couple of minutes away. I'll be right back.
Bo: That went...well.
Justin: Yeah, I think so. And the judge said he would rule from the bench, which means we don't have to wait two months for a written decision.
Hope: You were great in there just now. Justin, thank you so much for everything that you've done. Thank you.
Justin: I'd do anything for you. You know that. Look, I'm gonna go and see if we can get a reading on how long this is gonna take.
Hope: You weren't half bad up there.
Bo: Ahem. I didn't sweat too much, did I? Tend to sweat when I testify.
Hope: [Laughing] I don't think anyone noticed.
Bo: I didn't want Callahan to think I was lying.
Hope: I don't think he thought that. I was looking at you up there on the witness stand, and I thought, "that's the man that I never stopped--"
Justin: Wow, talk about record time.
Bo: Yeah, what happened?
Justin: Callahan has rendered his decision.
Jennifer: [Crying] No, it's okay. Oh, I'm sorry. Oh, gosh, what did I-- I got some makeup on you.
Daniel: Uh, you know what, don't worry about that. I'll go change. You okay?
Jennifer: Yeah, don't worry about me. I'll be fine. [Laughs]
Daniel: Okay. Don't do anything stupid.
Jennifer: I won't. Yeah, you're fine. Anyone can see that.
Carly: Letting go of Bo was the right thing to do. I didn't say it was easy.
Jennifer: Yeah. Feeling honorable is pretty cold comfort, huh? No one knows that better than me, except maybe Daniel.
Carly: I just hope Bo listens to his heart.
Taylor: Uh... you didn't offend me, Mr. DiMera.
Stefano: Well, uh... it seemed like you were so anxious to go. And, uh, we're going to be family soon. Now, if there is something bothering you, I certainly would like to know what it is.
Taylor: [Sighs, laughs] My sister is gonna marry your son...
Taylor: Again. I don't know anything about him or you. All I know is what happened to my sister the last time she married into your family, and I didn't like that... one bit.
EJ: I'm not just your friend.
Nicole: You're not?
EJ: I want you to know that since you've come back into my life, I've grown to respect you.
Nicole: Respect is good. Doesn't keep you warm at night.
EJ: I'm sorry if that's not everything you want.
Nicole: Did I say it wasn't everything I want?
EJ: What are you doing?
Nicole: Oh... giving you a reason to have a whole new respect for me.
Justin: So... what Callahan said was, based on the police reports, and what happened at the prison, and on Bo's testimony... he's reducing your sentence to time served.
Hope: Meaning...meaning... what?
Justin: Hope, you're free to go.
Hope: [Exhales] I'm free.
Bo: [Laughing] Yep, you're free. It's over. It's all over.
Victor: Oh, hello, Chloe.
Chloe: Hello, Victor.
Victor: How is my grandson doing?
Chloe: He's fine. He's--
Victor: Something wrong?
Chloe: No, I just-- I have to go.
Nicole: I'm glad we... reached this agreement.
EJ: You are? Really?
Nicole: Even when we were at each other's throats, I missed this.
EJ: So did I. Don't tell anyone.
EJ: See you later.
Nicole: Respect. It's a start.
Justin: I'm guessing maybe the two of you would like some time alone.
Bo: You're guessing right.
Hope: Justin, thank you. Oh, my gosh, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Justin: You're welcome.
Bo: Thanks, man.
Hope: Thank you.
Bo: You got no cause to thank me.
Hope: I do. You've done so much for me.
Bo: Well, yeah. 'Cause I love you.
Bo: Come on. Let's go home.
Jennifer: You know, I remember from Lawrence days, you used to keep everything to yourself. And that makes me worry about you.
Carly: I am the last person you should be worrying about.
Jennifer: I am worried about you. I hate the thought of you being all alone right now.
Carly: I'm not. I'm not alone. I have you, right? And I have Melanie. And when I look at it that way, I just feel blessed. Get some rest, okay.
Jennifer: Well... looks like you have the good doctor in your corner. And he is the father of your daughter. Hmm.
Stefano: Ah-ha! If I did not know better, I'd say that you were planning a real wedding.
Nicole: It is a real wedding.
Stefano: But not a real marriage.
Nicole: You wait and see. Your son has changed.
Stefano: [Sighs] There's something you need to know about my son.
EJ: Hey, look. I want Hernandez guarded around the clock, you understand? Thank you. Sorry.
Taylor: Oh, no problem.
On the next "Days of Our Lives" --
Kate: We need to do it now. Before that slut permanently scars my grandchild.
Nicole: You know nothing about me and my sister!
EJ: You are not from Salem.
