Victor: Hello, Marvin. Imagine my surprise when I read the annual report. Course I'm talking about item 379! How the hell did that happen? Well, you better get to the bottom of it or you're gonna be chasing ambulances again.
Kate: Sounds like somebody's having a bad day.
Victor: You might say that.
Kate: Aw. What's going on?
Vivian: I assume that's for Kate.
Stefano: Oh, God. Who let you in?
Vivian: The butler. You know, Kate doesn't deserve that--or you.
Stefano: How did you talk your way past Harold?
Vivian: Well, I told him I had an offer of a lifetime for you. And I do.
Nicole: So you want to stay in Salem? Okay. You want to be a bridesmaid in my wedding?
Taylor: I am your sister. Yeah.
Taylor: [Laughs] Notice how she can say "fine" and make it sound like something that isn't fine at all.
Sami: I get that.
Nicole: There's one condition.
Taylor: Surprise, surprise.
Nicole: You don't side with anyone against me.
EJ: So... now that you have met your replacement, I assume you have a slightly better idea of what's going on.
Rafe: It's not gonna work.
EJ: You see, that is where I beg to differ. The plastic surgeon did an extraordinary job. Voice coach was top-notch. And you do know what they say. If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck... and it dresses like a duck...
Rafe: Still doesn't matter 'cause he's not me.
Brady: Rafe. What's up?
Rafe 2: Hey.
Brady: I got to say, man, I'm here all the time. I've never seen you in here drinking alone. You all right?
Victor: So I'm going over the annual report. And that's when I find out that Titan had acquired a company at the last part of the fiscal quarter. A company I knew nothing about and hadn't approved.
Kate: Hmm. Vivian?
Victor: Who else?
Kate: Wow. I thought Brady made her sign over control of the company before he took her off the island.
Victor: Yes, well, this was signed after that. Somehow she and her shyster lawyer must've found a loophole in the paper that Brady made her sign.
Kate: She saddled you with a company you didn't want?
Victor: Anyone who reads the business page wouldn't want this company.
Kate: A lovely parting gift from Vivian. What are you going to do?
Victor: I'm gonna find that loophole. And then I'm gonna find Vivian and stuff her in it.
Stefano: I don't have any interest in any deal that you have to offer.
Vivian: Excuse me. What are you doing?
Stefano: I am escorting you out. And then I'm going to have a long talk with my butler.
[Cell phone rings]
Vivian: Hmm. I think you might want to reconsider. This is a meeting I think you might want to take.
[Cell phone rings]
EJ: [Clears throat] I see. So you think that you're so unique that you can't be recreated, hmm?
Rafe: I don't think anyone can be.
EJ: That we're all like snowflakes then?
Rafe: You see, that's why your whole plan is gonna tank. You're cynical just like your father. You think you can get some halfwit off the street, and renovate his face, and have him replace me. That's where you're wrong. You made the assumption that just because you don't have a soul, I don't either.
EJ: Actually, Rafe, that's where you're wrong.
Sami: I knew it.
Nicole: You knew what?
Sami: I knew that this truce that you and EJ cooked up is a crock.
Nicole: No, it's not.
Sami: Oh, really? Then why are you warning your sister to stay away from me?
Taylor: You don't mean that, do you, Nicole?
Sami: Of course she does!
Taylor: But you're the one who stole Sami's baby.
Nicole: She is the one who lied to EJ about being pregnant with his child, okay? I just gave Sydney back to her daddy.
Sami: Oh, here we go!
Nicole: Stop. Sami, stop. Okay? I have made peace with Sami being Sydney's mother.
Sami: Oh, really? Peace to the tune of you marrying EJ just so that you can have custody over my children.
Nicole: Oh, will you stop? This is ridiculous.
Sami: No, you're ridiculous!
Taylor: Can't do this! Hello! Yeah. I don't know how Sydney and Johnny do this. I mean, I'm a lot older than they are and I already can't stand being in the middle of you two. I really hate the bus, you know? It takes forever to get to where you're going and the bathrooms are really disgusting, but you know what, I'd rather be on the next bus out of Salem than standing here and listening to this.
Nicole: Well, I think you're doing the right thing.
Nicole: Here. Taylor, take this. Come on.
Taylor: Nicole, I told you I don't want it.
Nicole: I know what you told me, all right? Just take it. Please. Do it for me.
Taylor: Okay, fine. But I'm gonna pay you back really soon. Nice to see you again, Sami.
Sami: Yeah, same here. I can't believe you just did that. I cannot believe you just sent your own sister away.
Kate: Are you going to bring Philip in on this?
Victor: No. This is personal. He's got enough to deal with.
Kate: You're right about that.
Victor: Yes. It must be very tiring for him trying to populate the planet.
Kate: You're the one that should've been teaching him about birth control. What about Brady? He's the one who drew up the agreement that she signed, right?
Victor: I don't want Brady involved in this either. He wanted to leave Vivian where she was on the island. I insisted that he rescue her because that's what Maggie wanted. Now if he finds out that she's making moves against the company...
Kate: He might dump you in that empty sarcophagus and throw away the key?
Stefano: [Sighs] Why don't you tell me what this meeting is about?
Vivian: Well, I was hoping that while I was away, that you would come to your senses about Kate. But apparently, that hasn't happened.
Stefano: That is none of your business. Now, either you are going to go or I'm going to pick you up and dump you in the driveway.
Vivian: You know what I love about you?
Vivian: You're a man's man.
Vivian: And I'd hate to see Kate hurt someone like you. And she will, you know, because she hurts all the men she's with.
Stefano: [Chuckles] What are you suggesting, Vivian? That I replace Katherine with you?
Kate: Who are you calling now?
Kate: Who's Marvin?
Victor: Marvin's the lawyer who's supposed to be fixing all this.
Kate: Well, I can see you are not going to be any fun at all. So I'm going to leave these. And I'll be on my way.
Victor: You're giving me back the keys to the house? What happened? Cook refused to try your brownie recipe?
Kate: No. Actually, I find it a little boring here when there's no one in the crypt.
Victor: Where are you going?
Kate: I'm moving in with Stefano. Permanently.
Victor: And here I thought you were a smart little girl. You really think you can take this arranged marriage and make it into something real?
Nicole: You know, I have a great idea. How about I stay out of your life and you stay out of mine?
Sami: I would love that except for you put yourself in my life whether I like it or not.
Nicole: Oh, and I'm supposed to listen to you?
Sami: Taylor is your family.
Sami: She's not here to use you or to get something from you. All you have to do is take one look at her and you can see that she doesn't have an agenda. Are you kidding me? She's your sister. She just wants to be your friend. And frankly, Nicole, you could use one.
Rafe 2: You got a problem with me stopping for a beer on the way home?
Brady: Not at all. No. No. I just thought with Johnny at the hospital--
Rafe 2: Johnny came home today.
Brady: Oh, he did? That's great. That's great.
Rafe 2: Yeah. We actually had a party for him. Sydney too. It's her birthday today.
Brady: I forgot about it. Oh, man, I forgot. I've been out of the loop, man.
Rafe 2: No problem. Sit down.
Brady: How, uh, how's Gabi doing?
Rafe 2: Good. She was at the party too.
Brady: That's great. I mean, Sami actually got to throw a party for Johnny and Sydney. That's terrific.
Rafe 2: Yeah. All because of the truce that her and EJ made when Johnny got sick.
Brady: Right. Well, at least some good came out of all that pain, right?
Rafe 2: Yeah. Couldn't have said it better myself.
Brady: So, Rafe, the question is if Sami has her kids back and everything's great, what are you doing here drinking alone?
Rafe 2: Yeah, well, I'm still wondering why that's any of your business.
EJ: The soul of your replacement. Well, let's just say it, um, we knew how to provide that.
Rafe: What does that mean?
EJ: Well, I mean, we could've done with more time, obviously. You know, for him to study you, to observe you, to learn your habits. But then you had that unfortunate accident with that head wound and, well, that was just too good an opportunity to miss.
Rafe: That's when you made the switch.
EJ: You know, university hospital probably should do something about their security system. Oh, speaking of which, our boy has the same blood type as you, just so you know.
Rafe: Well, you guys are nothing if not thorough.
EJ: Mm. Oh, and the fingerprints are a non-issue. You were compromised during your operation in Europe. But you probably know that.
Rafe: Wow. So far everything seems to be working out great for you.
EJ: What can I say? We've been very lucky.
Rafe: Yeah. But even though you were able to change this guy's face and voice, get the same blood type, you weren't able to fill him in on the details of my life. Which is why you're keeping me alive.
EJ: Well, you became a part of the plan when we were forced to speed it up.
Rafe: Otherwise I'd be dead right now.
EJ: Right. So now we need you to tell us about whatever it was that made Samantha fall in love with you.
Rafe: 'Cause you sent your guy into my world too soon. How do you know he hasn't screwed it up already?
EJ: He hasn't. He hasn't. And, Rafe, even if he does, you had a concussion, remember? Or you don't remember. See, one of the symptoms of a concussion is the lack of memory. I don't know if you're aware of that, but I can assure you Samantha is.
Rafe: So you're telling me that you're counting on that to bail him out?
Rafe: Wow. You're in bigger trouble than I thought.
EJ: [Laughs] Is that right?
Vivian: Oh, Stefano, you kill me.
Stefano: You must be reading my mind.
Vivian: I do not want to be the next Mrs. DiMera. Been there. Done that. Nor the next Mrs. Anybody. The whole business of marriage has thrown me off completely.
Stefano: Smart lady.
Stefano: Now, what are you doing here?
Vivian: I want to be a part of your life the way Kate can never be.
Stefano: Now you're really scaring me, and I don't scare easily.
Vivian: Tell me something. Does she know everything you're up to? All of it? I'll bet she doesn't.
Kate: My marriage to Stefano is not an arrangement.
Victor: I was there, my dear. Have things changed? Has he--has he written you a poem?
Kate: Hmm. Stefano realizes that he needs me. What led to our separation was the fact that I kept certain things from him concerning his family, and I'm not going to do that again.
Victor: Mm-hmm. Does he know that you're planning on taking Chloe's baby away from her?
Kate: Chloe, Philip, Parker, they have absolutely nothing to do with Stefano, and I wouldn't even burden him with that.
Victor: I just love it when you stick your chin out like that and you're so cocksure of yourself. Especially when I know that you're totally wrong. Ha.
Rafe 2: I'm having a beer after a hard day. What's the big deal?
Brady: It's not a big deal. Don't worry. Forget it. Don't worry about it.
Rafe 2: And who are you to pass judgment on me? Looks like you slept in those clothes. And what's that you're knocking back, hmm? Straight vodka.
Brady: I like it straight. And I just got off a transatlantic flight. That's why I haven't had a chance to change, Rafe.
Rafe 2: Went straight to the bar.
Brady: That's right. I went straight to the bar. I'm not the one that got out of the hospital with a head injury.
Rafe 2: Is that the problem with you and Nicole? Drinking? Is that why she dumped you for EJ?
Brady: Look, Rafe, I know you've been going through a hard time, all right? But that was way below the belt, all right? It's not like you. What the hell's going on with you?
Nicole: I have too many friends already, Sami. Unless one dies, I couldn't possibly add someone new.
Sami: You dump Brady. You tell Taylor to leave town. All that so you can just keep up your business arrangement with EJ?
Nicole: That's not what it is.
Sami: He's using you.
Nicole: No, he's no-- maybe at first he was. But not anymore.
Sami: Oh, come on.
Nicole: He does care about me, Sami. Even you said he's changed, and he has. Things are different between us. They're better. In fact, they're kind of great.
Sami: Oh, my God. You're in love with him.
Rafe: I do have some memory loss. But it's not what you're talking about. I can remember grabbing my keys before I left the apartment. Waking up here after the hospital. So there's a little bit I don't remember. But also there is the, uh, occasional word I can't seem to find. But other than that, I seem to remember just about everything. My sister's confirmation name. That Sami loves ketchup on her scrambled eggs.
EJ: Well, luckily for us, the world does not know very much about retrograde amnesia.
Rafe: Sami will figure it out.
EJ: Maybe. Maybe. But when she does, we have you. Right? You'll be able to fill us in on all the details we weren't able to get from observation, and your resume, and the internet.
Rafe: What if I don't help you?
EJ: If you don't help me, uh, well, then little Allie Horton is going to disappear.
Rafe: So you're really going to kidnap a little girl, huh?
EJ: Yeah. Let me ask you something, Rafe. Do you know where little Allie Horton is right now? Hmm? She's with her grandma, Caroline, and her cousin, Stephanie. She just had dinner. Do you know what she ate? She had chicken strips. And, uh, carrots. And she had dessert. You know what she had? She had apple pie. And right now as you and I speak, she's watching Caroline's favorite Marx Brothers movie.
Rafe: Son of a bitch. So you've got some goons watching her? Do you?
EJ: You'd better believe it.
Brady: Nicole's none of your damn business, all right?
Rafe 2: Well, actually, that's where you're wrong. She is. Now that she's back in those kids' lives, I'm gonna make sure nothing and nobody screws it up for Sami.
Brady: If you're--if you're warning me to stay away from Sami and Johnny and Sydney, you're wasting your time, man. Buy your own beer.
Rafe 2: Okay. Don't underestimate that guy, EJ. That'd be a mistake.
Stefano: What do you know about me?
Vivian: Oh, I knew it! You're up to something.
Stefano: You're just fishing.
Vivian: And it's big. Very illegal. Highly secretive. I'm going to love it. Care to share?
Stefano: Nothing to share.
Vivian: Hmm. Is that what you told Kate? Because I'll bet she asked.
Stefano: All right, this conversation is over.
Vivian: Uh, no, no, no. There's no reason to be upset. You shouldn't have told her anything. You were right not to tell her.
Stefano: There is nothing to say.
Vivian: Of course there isn't. Very smart of you to protect yourself from Kate. Because from my sad and painful experience, your wife is a very dangerous woman.
Kate: I know what I'm doing with Stefano.
Victor: So you don't want to know what I know?
Kate: What? Something that you made up?
Victor: I can't believe this. Lucrezia Borgia has turned into little Mary Sunshine because of Stefano DiMera.
Kate: Why can't you just wish me happiness and then go back to battling Vivian?
Victor: I wish you happiness.
Kate: Thank you.
Victor: If I were you, I'd take these keys along with me. If you plan on doing things behind Stefano's back, you may need a safe haven.
Kate: [Scoffs] A safe haven? That's a joke. Now don't you worry about Stefano and me. You couldn't be more wrong.
Victor: Not in this case, I'm afraid.
Nicole: I am not in love with EJ.
Sami: Oh, really? Then what's with all the "things are so great between us" stuff?
Nicole: He's been good to me. And we've always had this kind of chemistry between each other. And it's still there.
Sami: Really? If the chemistry's so great between you, then why did you have to kick your sister to the curb?
Nicole: All right, you know what, I know that we are making an effort to get along here. But you giving me advice about family? [Scoffs] Really?
Sami: How dare you. I have a great relationship with my sister.
Nicole: Oh, yeah. Now that she's in Europe and you can't get your hands on Austin.
Sami: Are you serious? Are you stuck in 1999?
Nicole: No. But you can't help pushing yourself into other people's business.
Sami: Oh, that wasn't pushing. That's pushing.
Nicole: What, are you in third grade?
Sami: I am trying to help you, you stupid cow!
Nicole: Did you just call me a cow?
Rafe 2: Whoa. What's going on here?
Brady: Uh, hello?
Brady: Uh, hello? Hi. Is this your suitcase?
Taylor: Yeah, I'm sorry.
Brady: I just tripped on it going up the stairs.
Taylor: No. Are you all right?
Brady: I'm fine, but it's right in the middle of the stairway. I almost tripped, you know.
Taylor: I said I was sorry.
Brady: It's okay.
Taylor: Uh, here. Um... why don't you take this?
Brady: Money. Thank you. Why are you offering me money?
Taylor: Oh, don't be offended. It's just, um, you look like you could use a hot meal and a shower.
Stefano: Not that it is any of your business, but Katherine and I understand each other now. We don't have the problems we had before.
Vivian: Oh, Stefano. I knew so many things about you, but I never knew you were naive.
Stefano: I'm not.
Vivian: [Scoffs] Then you're lying to yourself because Kate will always keep secrets from you and you will always keep secrets from Kate because that's who the two of you are.
Stefano: You know, all the while that you've been here, you still haven't told me what you want.
Vivian: I-I want to be your friend. Your confidant. I'm someone who knows Victor Kiriakis better than anyone. And I will always be loyal and never disappoint you.
Stefano: I get all of that from my wife.
Vivian: Really? Well, I hope you've examined this ring very carefully to make sure there are no secret compartments. Because wouldn't it be ironic if the woman you love used the gift that you gave her to put poison in it and then possibly one morning drop it in your coffee? Given the right provocation, she'd think nothing of doing that.
Kate: You're right. I wouldn't.
Brady: Um, 'scuse me. 'Scuse me. Sorry. Honey, I, uh, I'm not homeless. I don't need this.
Taylor: Look, it's okay. Bad things happen to good people.
Brady: Yeah, they do. They do. But I'm not homeless. As a matter of fact, I'm from a very wealthy family. It's okay. Keep your money.
Brady: Please. Please. I'll prove it to you. I have a gold card. I'll show it to you.
Taylor: No, no, no, that's okay.
Brady: No, really. They don't give those to homeless people.
Taylor: Oh, wow. Guess I jumped to the totally wrong conclusion.
Brady: I understand. I just got off a long flight. I haven't changed my clothes. I have not shaved. I had a couple drinks. I get it. It's okay.
Taylor: But--but still...
Brady: I'm Brady. Brady Black.
Taylor: Brady Black?
Taylor: You used to date my sister.
Brady: Who's your sister?
Taylor: I'm Taylor Walker.
Brady: [Laughs] You're Taylor.
Brady: Of course you are. Does Nicole know you're here?
Taylor: Uh, I thought I'd show up and surprise her.
Brady: Mm-hmm. Nicole hates surprises. Even good ones she hates.
Taylor: Found that out. Yeah.
Brady: Didn't go well?
Taylor: Let's just say I don't fit into Nicole's lifestyle right now.
Brady: Well, one thing I know about your sister right now, she could use a friend. Whether she wants it or not. Be nice if it was her sister. So what would I have to do to convince you to hang around?
Sami: I was just trying to say that I don't think it's a good idea for you to treat your sister like crap.
Nicole: Uh, the first place, I didn't do that. And then the second place, what goes on between me and my sister is none of your business.
Rafe 2: Okay, shut it. What goes on between Nicole and her sister is none of your business.
Sami: But she's--
Rafe 2: Do you want to make a scene in front of your grandma's pub?
Sami: Well, you're right.
Nicole: Uh, wow. I must be hearing things. [Cell phone rings] Uh, ooh, well, you know, as much as I'd love to listen to the rest of this, I have a phone call. Hey, Yvonne, what's up? Ha.
Rafe 2: You're mad? I just don't want you getting into it with Nicole over something that doesn't really matter. She could report to EJ.
Sami: You're right. Like I said. Thank you.
Rafe 2: My pleasure.
Rafe: Okay. I'll do what you want.
EJ: So we have an agreement.
Rafe: It's still not gonna work.
EJ: Really? Why is that?
Rafe: Because you have forgotten to take one important thing into consideration.
Rafe: My wife.
Rafe: She's smart. And she knows me better than anyone in this world.
Victor: Marvin, Marvin, there has got to be something wrong with that contract. Because Vivian can't be buying companies for Titan Industries if she doesn't control titan industries. Is that clear enough for you? Wrong answer, Marvin. Clean out your desk. You're fired. How much of that did you hear?
Victor: Well, I didn't want you involved in this. I was hoping to get it all resolved before you got back from your trip.
Brady: I got back a little early.
Victor: So how'd you do? Did you convince the shareholders that Vivian no longer has anything to do with the company?
Brady: Yeah, I think I did.
Victor: Too bad you were wrong.
Brady: No, I wasn't.
Victor: According to the annual report, someone's buying companies that I know nothing about. That has to be Vivian.
Brady: No, it doesn't.
Victor: Why do you say that?
Brady: Because it's me.
Victor: I should get my hearing checked. I could've sworn I just heard you say that you had control of the company.
Brady: Vivian was so anxious to get off that island, when I shoved the contract in her face, she really didn't read it thoroughly. She actually didn't sign the company back to you. She signed it over to me.
Victor: You Judas.
Brady: I hope you're not comparing yourself to his boss.
Victor: Why? Why would you betray me like this?
Brady: Are you kidding? I learned the art of betrayal at your knee, grand-daddy.
Sami: Look, it's just that I'm having trouble adjusting to the whole getting along with Nicole thing. Thank you for intervening.
Rafe 2: No, I should be the one thanking you.
Sami: For what?
Rafe 2: Being patient enough to understand that I have to go through this recovery and could be a little off at times.
Sami: Well, do me a favor and don't drink when you're supposed to be taking that medication, okay?
Rafe 2: Okay, I won't.
Sami: Okay. 'Cause it was definitely weird.
Rafe 2: Okay, I won't.
Rafe 2: Okay.
Kate: Yeah. No, I'm still here. What'd you say again?
Vivian: Are you admitting that you would poison your own husband?
Kate: No. You said with the right provocation, I could poison someone, and that's true. But I love Stefano. And there isn't anything he could do that would provoke me that much.
Stefano: Thank you for that.
Kate: You're welcome, my love. You on the other hand, make me want to fill that lovely ring with strychnine. I thought you left Salem.
Vivian: Well, you know I did. And you know why. But I'm back. Uh, Stefano, think about what I said.
Kate: Ugh. What a witch. What was she telling you about me now?
Stefano: She said that you are ruthless and determined. Something I already knew and love.
Kate: So is that ring really for me?
Stefano: Yes. It is to celebrate our reconciliation. And I'm sorry that Vivian ruined the surprise. All right. Perfect fit.
Kate: It's beautiful. And no secret compartment. Not taking any chances, I see.
Stefano: Forget about Vivian. You're home, Katerina. That's all that counts. All the lies and misunderstandings are behind us.
Victor: Just how did I school you in betrayal?
Brady: You betrayed this whole family when you married Vivian. After you married her, you treated her like a joke. You knew she wasn't going to take it lying down. You knew that she was probably going to plot some revenge against all of us and you didn't care because you were having too much fun with it. If I hadn't intervened, Vivian would've buried Maggie Horton in that coffin. Hell, she managed to for a couple days. She also managed to bury my mother in a pet cemetery. And the way I see it, this all happened because of you and your arrogance.
Victor: You make me sound like a real bastard.
Brady: If the shoe fits...
Victor: You know, I recently told you you were a chip off the old block. How right I was.
Taylor: Hi, Lexie. It's me, Taylor. Uh, no, no. Everything's fine. Um, I was wondering if maybe I could stay with you for one more night. I've changed my mind. I'm not gonna leave Salem. 'Cause I realized something. No matter what Nicole says, I know she needs me.
Nicole: Okay, lovebirds, I have a fitting for my wedding dress. Uh, it's your night with Johnny and Sydney, so I'm assuming that you're picking them up from your grandma.
Nicole: Well, this might be hard, but would you give them a kiss from me?
Rafe 2: We sure will.
Nicole: Thank you.
[Cell phone rings]
Sami: Oh, Stephanie must've taught grandma to text. She's wondering where I am.
Rafe 2: She's probably worn out.
Sami: Yeah. Right. Let's go.
Rafe 2: Yeah.
Rafe: Sami will figure your guy out. In fact, she'll never even let him into her life.
EJ: Found it. Awfully sorry to tell you, Rafe, she already has.
On the next "Days of Our Lives" --
Carly: I realized that, for Bo, true happiness is being with Hope.
Bo: You gonna help me or not?
Stefano: Are you falling in love with this woman?
