[Door slams]

Philip: Hey. I don't know what you're thinking about Melanie and Chloe, but it's stopping, now.

Kate: And a pleasant hello to you too.

Philip: This is not funny. You are backing off. You are butting out of my life.

Kate: This isn't about you. It's about your son--my grandson.

Philip: I'm not messing around here. You stop, or you don't ever see that baby again.

Melanie: [Clears throat] Why are you just sitting there?

Chloe: Damn.

Melanie: You don't have a job. It's the middle of the day. Why are you on the pier instead of taking care of your baby?

Chloe: Parker's fine. He's with Maggie.

Melanie: Thank God.

Chloe: Not that it's any of your business, you know?

Melanie: Maybe not, but for what it's worth, I think Parker deserves better than you.

Chloe: You mean you?

Daniel: [Sighs]

Woman: Mrs. Deveraux, I cannot let you get out of that bed.

Jennifer: I just want to find out one thing about my cousin.

Woman: I will put you in restraints if I have to.

Daniel: What the hell is going on?

Jennifer: Listen, I just want to find out some information about Hope, and if no one is gonna help me, I'm gonna find out for myself.

Daniel: No, Jennifer. That's not gonna happen.

Nicole: Taylor, what are you still doing here? I thought you were long gone.

Taylor: I had a long talk with Lexie. She made me see that I need to talk to you one more time.

Nicole: Not now. Okay, why don't you come back in a year or so?

Taylor: I'm not leaving until we've talked. You're gonna listen to what I have to say, Nicole, about us.

Rafe 2: Hey, you know that thing you were worried about with me and Sami? Well, don't worry about it anymore.

EJ: Oh, uh, you two kids gave physical expression to your love, did you?

Rafe 2: Huh?

EJ: You did it.

Rafe 2: Yeah.

EJ: Did the earth move?

Rafe 2: Look, man, I know you're my boss, but I don't really feel comfortable talking about this with you.

EJ: Believe me, I do not want all the details, okay? All I want to know is, did she have any idea that you weren't her husband?

Rafe 2: Oh, uh... I don't think so.

EJ: "I don't think so." Is there a problem?

Rafe 2: I don't know what's normal for these two. But after we were done, she... kind of went off by herself.

Sami: Oh!

Rafe: I'm not gonna tell you anything.

Stefano: Yes, you will. And you will do it right now. And I'm about to tell you why.

Rafe: Why? 'Cause you're gonna kill me?

Stefano: No. But if you do not cooperate... [Sighs] we'll make her disappear.

Rafe: Son of a bitch.

Stefano: Desperate times, desperate measures. So... why don't you and I have a nice, long chat?

Jennifer: Okay.

Daniel: Now, look here, princess. I didn't bust my ass putting your heart back so you can end up rejecting it 'cause you're acting like a two-year-old.

Jennifer: That's a nice bedside manner.

Daniel: Thank you. I'll take it from here, nurse.

Jennifer: Listen, I'm just trying to get some information about Hope. Can you please help me out here?

Daniel: I don't know, exactly. I'll let Maggie know you're concerned. She'll keep you posted.

Jennifer: How about a phone?

Daniel: No. No.

Jennifer: I don't like you.

Daniel: I don't care. Jennifer, it is critical, critical that you don't strain yourself physically or emotionally. Now, promise me you will take care of yourself?

Jennifer: I...

Daniel: I'm sorry, what? I can't hear you. I'm sorry, what?

Jennifer: I promise you.

Daniel: I'm sorry, what?

Jennifer: I promise you.

Daniel: What?

Jennifer: Promise.

[Cell phone rings]

Daniel: Sorry, I got to take this.

EJ: She just went away?

Rafe 2: No. She said she was thirsty, went to get us some water. So I don't have a lot of time to talk.

EJ: Oh. Well, I wouldn't worry about that. Samantha gets moody half the time. Listen, just keep me posted if she gets suspicious, all right?

Rafe 2: Well, I sure hope she isn't. This job's frickin' awesome.

[Cell phone rings]

Sami: Carrie, hi.

Carrie: Hi. I saw you called. Everything okay?

Sami: Oh, yeah, everything's great, actually. I was calling to thank you and Austin for the adorable outfit you got Sydney. I'm gonna take a picture of her in it, and I'll send it to you.

Carrie: That'd be great.

Sami: Listen, I, um... I miss you. It's been a long time since we've talked.

Carrie: I know. Me too.

Sami: And I think that's really why I called. I need a "my sister" fix.

Carrie: Hey, I could use one too. So how is everything going?

Sami: Carrie... [Sighs] I'm not really sure.

Rafe: Wow. You and EJ are real men. Ruining a little girl's life so you can get revenge on her mother.

Stefano: No. That is totally... inaccurate, eh? We are not going to ruin her life. We are going to, uh, restructure it... and not for revenge... but for leverage with you, hey? Which means that Allie's fate... [Sniffs] will depend on you, hmm? So... if you don't want to see that face on a milk carton, you better start talking.

[Monitor beeping]

Jennifer: Nathan, I don't want another sedative, please.

Nathan: Doctor's orders.

Jennifer: [Groans] I hate orders.

Nathan: [Chuckles] Well, it's good to see that your near-death experience hasn't mellowed you out any.

Jennifer: Hey, just--you know what? Let me just borrow your cell phone, please, for just one minute.

Nathan: Okay, and then I'll just give you my ATM card and my pin too. No, no phones, no excitement, all right? I'm gonna put you in restraints.

You know, I'm so frustrated right now, and that can be really stressful.

Nathan: Well, that's what the sedatives are for.

Jennifer: Fine. Okay, let's talk about you, okay? And I'll be very calm. How are things with you and Stephanie?

Nathan: Well, nonexistent. Things are completely over.

Jennifer: Hmm. Don't you think that's a little unforgiving, a little harsh?

Nathan: Well, it's not about forgiveness. I've just realized that she's not the right person for me.

Jennifer: That would be Melanie, right?

Melanie: No, I don't mean me, Chloe. Are you getting paranoid now?

Chloe: I'm not paranoid. I just know what I'm up against.

Melanie: Yeah, all your enemies, 'cause everything that happened--none of it's your fault.

Chloe: It is all my fault. And I paid for what I did. I lost the man that I love more than anyone in this world. And my son lost a great father.

Melanie: So what, you're gonna just throw in the towel and decide not to be a mommy?

Chloe: Wow. It must be so great to have all the answers... to be so perfectly qualified to judge everything and everyone. It must be really hard for you to have to deal with real human beings who make real human mistakes. Look, I know that you got hurt in all of this. But you are--and pretty much have always been--a real pain in the ass.

Kate: You need to open your eyes and face what's happening to your son, because if you do that, you're going to realize that I'm not the enemy here. I'm not the problem.

Philip: You want to talk about my son? Well, maybe I don't think it's such a great idea for you to be waging a guerilla war against his mother, that fending off the woman who tried to kill her is a bad idea!

Kate: Are you just willfully blind here? Look what Chloe did to Lucas. Look what she did to you.

Philip: I wasn't a victim in all this. She didn't tie me down, you know.

Kate: No. No. I know. But Melanie is, all right? You need to start thinking about her. Why should Chloe be allowed to ruin Melanie's life?

Philip: Have you not been listening at all? I'm the one who ruined her life. I screwed up our marriage.

Kate: Okay. Okay. All right, let's put Chloe to the side, shall we? You are right. You ruined your marriage, which means you are the one who needs to fix it. You need to do anything you have to do... to make Melanie forgive you.

Nicole: Taylor... can't you just send me an email or something? I promise I'll read it.

Taylor: I really listened to what you told me last night, and I told you I talked to Lexie about it.

Nicole: Oh. Great. I just love that you blabbed my family history to my fiancÚ's sister who pretty much hates me!

Taylor: She doesn't! But this isn't about what Lexie thinks. It's about what I think. You're making a really big mistake, Nicole. Shoving me away isn't gonna make anything better. It's just gonna make it worse.

EJ: Look, just remember, this guy's a real sap, okay? You cannot lay it on too thick.

Rafe 2: Right.

EJ: Oh, and keep playing up the concussion, but I should have a lot more information for you coming soon.

Rafe 2: All right, got it. Listen, you should let me go. It won't be real romantic if she catches me talking to some dude two minutes after I took her on the magic carpet ride.

EJ: Quite right. And how very eloquently put. [Sighs] Father, I do hope you're making some progress getting our friend downstairs to play ball.

Rafe: So Allie's nothing more than a pawn in your game.

Stefano: [Laughing] Oh... if you think guilt works on me, you obviously have no idea who you are talking to. I need information... and I can use her to get it from you. So... what is it going to be?

Sami: Carrie, I don't know. It's like he's a different person, like he's not even the same man.

Carrie: Just because he's a little forgetful? That's just short-term because of the accident.

Sami: He's not the same... in bed.

Carrie: Uh... la la la la

Sami: I'm not gonna give you details.

Carrie: Thank you.

Sami: But I'm serious. It's like... it's just that he's different.

Carrie: Maybe he's just not ready. He was in a pretty bad accident, right?

Sami: It was his idea, though, Carrie. And he was really... aggressive.

Carrie: Again... [Laughing] La la la la la

Sami: Sorry.

Carrie: And I have to say... you know, what's wrong with aggressive? At least you now know everything's in working order.

Sami: [Laughs] Carrie! Thanks for the silver lining! Look, you're right. I'm probably making too much of this. There's probably nothing wrong with him at all.

Nathan: Yes, that would be Melanie. However, it's a little too late for that.

Jennifer: Are you sure?

Nathan: Well, she's carrying Philip's kid, so that's something of a complication, you know?

Jennifer: Poor girl. She might make a choice for the baby and not for herself.

Nathan: Yeah. Well, I guess it's up to me to make sure she makes the right choice, then, huh?

Melanie: I may be a pain in the ass... but I don't really think that justifies you sleeping with my husband and cheating on my dad and ignoring your baby.

Chloe: [Chuckles] Wow. It must be really making your afternoon. It must be so much fun to be so much better than I am. Wait, let's just ignore that whole thing about you throwing yourself at Nathan while you're married to Philip.

Melanie: I did not throw myself at Nathan.

Chloe: Really? Well, your husband came to me for comfort because you were doing--how did you put it-- "kissing Nathan good-bye"?

Melanie: That's the truth.

Chloe: Yeah, right. How long after your wedding did you kiss Nathan good-bye? There must have been a few months of hello in there.

Melanie: You are unreal.

Chloe: Listen, I may be down, and I may be out, but I am not as stupid as you think I am. And I may not be the kind of mother that you think I should be, but the jury's still out on you. See, I remember who you were before you decided to become all perfectly wonderful. So go ahead--live your perfectly wonderful life, and stay the hell out of mine!

Philip: Let me put this in terms you might understand. If what you want is for Melanie to take me back--

Kate: Of course I do.

Philip: Then back off. Back way, way off... because I know Melanie, and if she knows you're sticking your nose into all this, I don't stand a chance.

Kate: You think?

Philip: What the hell does that mean?

Kate: What that means is you're right. That's why I'm being very discreet.

Philip: Mother, you saying you'll be discreet is hilarious, freakin' hilarious.

Kate: You know, I would back off if I wasn't so damned sure all you're gonna do is sit on the sidelines just hoping things will work out.

Philip: That's all I can do.

Kate: No, it's not. You go to Melanie, and you offer Parker as an olive branch. You're so concerned about your son? Well, he needs a good, strong mother, not like Chloe... like Melanie.

Nicole: Look, honey, I'm sorry... I'm not the sister you always wanted that will never be on some daytime talk show throwing things, screaming, crying, hugging. I'm sor--it's just not me.

Taylor: [Softly] Right. Here's your money back.

Nicole: Don't. Taylor...

Taylor: I didn't want to take it, and I don't want to keep it.

Nicole: You need it.

Taylor: Maybe. But what I really don't need is you thinking you bought me off.

Nicole: I won't take it back.

Taylor: I'm your sister, Nicole. We're family. Look... I know you don't want that to be true, but it is.

Nicole: Please, God, let that be the last time. She's exhausting.

EJ: Talking to yourself again, darling?

Nicole: No, my sister just left. She drives me crazy.

EJ: Your sister? I didn't realize she was in Salem.

Nicole: Well, not for long.

EJ: Did you know she was coming?

Nicole: No, but even if I did, why would it matter?

EJ: [Chuckles] Okay. Just, uh... wondered. You invite her to the wedding?

Nicole: Why would I do that? I just told you she drives me crazy.

EJ: Okay, I just thought it might be nice if you'd have somebody from your family there.

Nicole: No. No. No, no. No family, mm-mm. I want the wedding to be perfect, okay? No family... just you.

Carrie: I just think you need to stay calm and try not to overreact.

Sami: Oh, right, and we both know I'm so good at that. Carrie, I, um... I have to go, okay?

Carrie: Right. Kiss the kids for me and take good care of Rafe.

Sami: I'll try. Uh, I love you and hope we can talk again soon, okay?

Carrie: Definitely. Love you too.

Sami: I didn't hear you come in.

Rafe 2: I know. But I heard you.

Sami: I'm sorry, Rafe.

Rafe 2: No, no, no, don't be. Did I do that?

Sami: Yeah, you know, it was just--just different.

Rafe 2: No, no, it's my fault, and, uh... if you're not happy...

Sami: Well, it's just... it was like we were, you know... like it was the first time or something, you know?

Rafe 2: Right. Well... I think I can explain that.

Stefano: Well... your time is up. Agree to cooperate, or... she will never see her mother again.

Rafe: So I guess I don't really have a choice, do I?

Stefano: Your grasp of the obvious is stunning. I'll go tell Elvis the good news.

[Door closes]

Rafe: Agree to cooperate. With what? [Sighs] What the hell do they want from me?

Chad: So, uh, Adrienne said to stop by later and fill out an application.

Man: Got one, uh... right here. Take your time.

Nathan: You need to be resting, not worrying about my problems.

Jennifer: Yeah, you're right. I am feeling a little tired, actually.

Nathan: Good. Well, relax, all right? And we'll talk later... about some neutral topics.

Jennifer: Okay.

Nathan: All right?

Jennifer: Good luck with Melanie. I mean that.

Nathan: Well, don't worry about that. Just, uh... just count some sheep or something.

Jennifer: I'm not counting any sheep. All right. I got to get out of here. [Monitor beeping] Oh! Ow! [Beeping stops] Ooh... okay. Oh... oh! Oh... all right. Got to find a phone. Turn that off. Please don't beep. Please don't beep. Yes. Yes. All right.

Daniel: Just transfer the funds to Chloe's account. No, I know it's a lot of money, but she has a, uh--a baby to support. No, until I say otherwise. You just keep sending it until I-- hey. Jennifer! Jennifer!

Nicole: You know... I was, um... headed back upstairs.

EJ: Huh... [Softly] I have work to do.

Nicole: Oh.

EJ: Sorry. I think you're busy as well. Don't you have a, um... [Snaps fingers] What's that thing called? Wedding...

Nicole: Ah!

EJ: To plan?

Nicole: Yes.

EJ: Yes.

Nicole: When you are right, you are right. [Chuckles] This afternoon, uh... it's nice to know we were able to maintain our skill set. I'm looking forward to married life.

EJ: [Laughs]

Nicole: I'll see you later.

EJ: Oh, Father... I hope you got our guest downstairs primed for round two.

Rafe 2: Sit down.

Sami: Rafe, you don't have to explain anything to me. I understand. You were in an accident, and it's gonna take a while for things to get back to normal.

Rafe 2: It's more than that.

Sami: What do you mean?

Rafe 2: Remember how I had a few beers at Sydney's birthday party?

Sami: Yeah, we all did.

Rafe 2: Yeah, well, um... they also gave me some pain pills at the hospital, and...

Sami: Are you serious? Rafe, you know you're not supposed to drink while you're taking pain medication.

Rafe 2: Yeah.

Sami: What were you thinking?

Rafe 2: I wasn't. Sorry. Okay? Let me make it up to you... all right?

Rafe: So you're the next shift.

EJ: Well, I just wanted to make sure you were comfortable, Rafe.

Rafe: Oh. The good cop.

EJ: Hmm.

Rafe: Your father threatens me with tearing a family apart, and you come to bring me a blanket.

EJ: Do you want it?

Rafe: So you're really gonna do it, huh? Kidnap a four-year-old girl to get revenge on her mother?

EJ: No, uh, Rafael... the primary purpose of this operation... is not revenge. It is to correct a situation which has got out of control. Although, looking at you here... in this little cage, locked up and impotent... a little bit of revenge is certainly a rather... pleasant side effect.

Rafe: So... this operation... not gonna tell me what it is, are you?

EJ: [Clears throat] Actually, uh... I'm gonna do even better than that. I'm gonna show you. [Door closes]

Chad: You have anything?

Man: Looks good. Your age checks out.

Chad: You have anything?

Man: I can offer you a job as a stock boy. Our guy just quit.

Chad: That's great. I'll take it. When can I start?

Man: How about right now?

Philip: Good plan. I'll just--I'll use my child as bait with Melanie. She won't see through that. She won't be totally repulsed by that at all.

Kate: Okay, we'll stick with your plan, then--sit in a corner and whimper.

Philip: Let me repeat what I said to begin with--you interfere with Melanie or Chloe's life, and you never see my baby again... ever again.

Kate: Poor boy... racked with guilt. Clearly, he needs someone to do his thinking for him.

Melanie: Well, Chloe, one good thing came from this. We don't have to pretend to like each other anymore.

Chloe: I'm heartbroken.

Melanie: Luckily, Parker's with Maggie. He's gonna need someone to depend on.

Chloe: Go to hell.

Melanie: Kate, you're right. Chloe's lost it. [Scoffs] And the one who's gonna pay is Parker.

Jennifer: Oh, come on! I don't want another sedative, please.

Daniel: It doesn't matter what you want. You had a heart transplant. You have to heal. Why don't you do what you're friggin' told?

Jennifer: Why are you so mean?

Daniel: Why are you so infuriating, insubordinate, oppositional, insufferable?

Jennifer: You know, I really should be mad at you right now.

Daniel: Yeah, well, I'm mad at you.

Jennifer: But surprisingly, I'm not. I actually feel... kindly towards you right now.

Daniel: There we go. Sedatives are finally kicking in.

Jennifer: You're a good guy.

Daniel: I'm a great guy.

Jennifer: Yeah. You take care of people.

Daniel: Apparently, that's what doctors do.

Jennifer: Chloe, Parker. No walk-abouts for you. You... are a stand-up guy. You are one in a million.

Nicole: Hey, Mom. Have you talked to Taylor yet? Well, I'm just gonna give you a little heads-up before she calls. She's the good one, and I'm the bad one. Yeah, I know, I know, Mom. [Scoffs] You want me to do what?

Sami: Taylor? I can't believe you're in town. Hi.

Taylor: Hey, Sami, it's nice to see you.

Sami: Oh, are you here for your sister's wedding?

Taylor: Uh, no, as a matter of fact, I'm on my way to my mom's. Yeah.

Sami: You're leaving now... before your sister's big day? Nicole can't be too happy about that.

Taylor: Actually, it was Nicole's idea. Well, it was nice to see you, Sami.

Sami: Wait a second. Hold on. Taylor, I don't think you should go anywhere.

Melanie: Your mommy couldn't love you, Parker...

Melanie: Your mommy couldn't love you, Parker... but I never stopped. I know what I have to do. ****************************************************************

[Knock at door]

Chloe: Philip, hey. I'm sorry--Maggie left me a note. She took the baby out.

Philip: I didn't come to see him. I came to see you.

Kate: And make it very, very dry. Chad?

Chad: Mm.

Kate: You took a job here?

Chad: Ah, it's not volunteer work.

Kate: You're a DiMera. You don't need a job.

Chad: All right, look, Stefano made it pretty clear he had all the family he wanted already.

Kate: Hmm? Are you sure about that?

Man: Hey, DiMera. It's my job to chat. You schlep.

Chad: Hey, no problem.

Kate: DiMera, huh? So you have big problems with Stefano... but not with taking his name.

Sami: So you want to stay in Salem, but you're gonna leave because your sister said so?

Taylor: Not just that. I can't keep crashing with Abe and Lexie, and I can't afford rent until I get a job.

Sami: Well, I'll talk to Grandma--she probably has a room over the pub.

Taylor: Were you listening? Sami, I don't have any money.

Sami: Details. If you want to stay in Salem, you should stay. You shouldn't wait for Nicole's permission.

Nicole: Sami... butt the hell out.

EJ: So... where were we?

Rafe: You were gonna show me what you're up to.

EJ: Oh, yes. Just give me a moment, yes?

Rafe: Suspense is killing me.

[Cell phone rings]

EJ: Oop! Ah... yes. Well, why don't you come right down? Do you remember, Rafe... when you asked me-- rather hoarsely, as I recall-- how we were going to keep Samantha from noticing that you were gone?

Rafe: I remember.

EJ: Well... here's how.

[Snaps fingers]

Rafe 2: [Laughing] Man! Whoa! That's one good-looking dude!

Jennifer: I mean, after everything that happened, you're still taking care of Chloe and the baby.

Daniel: You pulling a stunt like that, I'm not above using a sledgehammer as a sedative.

Jennifer: You know, you--you say mean things, but you like me. You do.

Daniel: [Chuckles] You know what? Go to sleep, Jennifer.

Jennifer: And I like you. I do. You have a good heart. And you know what?

Daniel: Hmm?

Jennifer: Thanks to you, so do I.

Daniel: [Chuckles] Yeah. You do.

Chloe: Who ratted me out?

Philip: Hmm?

Chloe: You've been getting an earful about what a rotten mother I am, and you're here to see for yourself.

Philip: I didn't come to see for myself. Look, you're in a bad place... and I'm responsible.

Chloe: No, Philip, you're not.

Philip: It feels like I am. And... I-I-I just want you to know that I-I don't want you to go through this all alone. And I want you to know that if there's anything that I can do, I'll do it.

[Cell phone rings]

Kate: I was hoping you'd call.

Melanie: I've thought about what you said.

Kate: And?

Melanie: You're right. We have to get Parker away from Chloe.

Nicole: I can only imagine the lies you've been telling her.

Sami: Sorry, Nicole. The truth was plenty. You're not the boss of Salem. You don't get to tell everyone who stays and who goes. Not only should your sister stay, she should be in your wedding. She should be your bridesmaid.

Rafe 2: [Laughs]

EJ: This is a most remarkable resemblance... I mean, even more so with the two of you being here face-to-face.

Rafe 2: Man, I got to tell you. I like your life. You've got remarkable taste in women.

Rafe: My guess is his resemblance is more than just a coincidence.

EJ: Oh, yes. Yes, father's been working on this for quite some time.

Rafe: Plastic surgery, huh?

Rafe 2: Yeah, it started out pretty close, though, so... wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be.

Rafe: They must be paying you a hell of a lot of money to do this.

Rafe 2: [Laughs] Yeah. Yeah, uh... they--they even changed my voice a little. Still can't sing, though.

Rafe: So they gonna change you back when you're done?

EJ: [Clears throat] That's enough. It's time to go home. Come on.

Rafe: I'm sure you can. They're real honorable guys.

EJ: Let's go.

Rafe: What the hell do you think they're gonna do with you when they're done?

[Loud rattling]

EJ: [Laughs] So... now that you have met your replacement... I assume you have a slightly better idea of what's going on.

Rafe: It's not gonna work.

EJ: You see, that is where... I beg to differ. The plastic surgeon did an extraordinary job. Voice coach was, uh... top-notch. And you do know what they say. "If it walks like a duck... and it quacks like a duck" -- [Laughs] And it dresses like a duck...

Rafe: It still doesn't matter... 'cause he's not me.

On the next "Days of Our Lives" --

Nicole: How about I stay out of your life, and you stay out of mine?

Brady: So what would I have to do to convince you to hang around?

Rafe: You're in bigger trouble than I thought.
