Brady: You're getting married? Well, hey, that's great. That's terrific news. Let me guess. Um...childhood sweetheart. Found him on Facebook. You've been emailing each other and you've realized that you're just destined to be together and you can't live without one another. So he's flying in from Podunk. You're gonna have a big, old wedding. Is that it? Is that what's going on or...
Nicole: I'm not on Facebook.
Brady: Then you stumped me, Nicole. I don't--I don't know what to make of this because with the exception of myself, the only other guy you've been hanging out with is EJ and... holy crap.
Vivian: As you can see for yourself, Nicole and Brady are still having their way with each other, to put it delicately. And I have such enormous respect for you and all the DiMeras that I--I just felt I couldn't let it go on any longer letting that woman make such a fool of you. Once is quite enough, don't you think?
Maggie: Daniel's not the father of the baby?
Victor: No. Philip is.
Maggie: Philip? Oh, my goodness. But how did--how did Caroline get in the middle of this?
Victor: I don't know where she got her information, but she took it upon herself to change the results of the test.
Maggie: Caroline did something like that?
Victor: This was a deliberate decision to let a Kiriakis child come into this world without a single Kiriakis knowing anything about it.
Maggie: I don't think it had anything to do with you, Victor. I think she was trying to protect Chloe and Daniel.
Victor: Oh, why would she want to protect them? She hardly knows them. This was about depriving Philip of his own flesh and blood child. She played God with my family. Everyone knows that's my job. Now Philip and Melanie and mostly Daniel--their lives are all blown to hell.
Chloe: Caroline had a stroke? That's awful. Is she gonna--
Chloe: That's a relief. Please, you have to--
Daniel: Give me my-- I want to hold Parker. Give him to me. Hey. [Sniffs] Hey. [Sniffs] Yeah. Little heart. [Sniffs] Yeah.
Melanie: I want to wake up. I want somebody to tell me that this is a nightmare and that none of this is real.
Philip: Melanie, I love you. You have to believe that. Please.
Melanie: Don't touch me.
Carly: I'm the reason your mother had a stroke. Is that what you're saying? Has nothing to do with the fact that she's an older person, probably hypertensive, maybe forgets to take her statins from time to time?
Kayla: How dare you. Mother was fine before today.
Carly: You're a physician. You know better than anyone that no one gets a stroke from being upset. Besides, she's no innocent in all this.
Philip: Yeah, I deserve that.
Melanie: Yeah, you deserve a lot worse.
Melanie: "Melanie" what? "Melanie, don't leave me"? "Melanie, stay with me even though I'm a worthless human being"? "Melanie, let me explain"? Go to hell. We're done.
Philip: No, no, we are not done. We're not. We'll never be done.
Daniel: It's just you and me. So talk. And for once... tell me the truth.
Chloe: I am telling you the truth, Daniel. I had no idea what Caroline did until today. It was a shock to me. A horrible shock.
Daniel: You know, I put together a lot in just the last hour, and it is all starting to make a sick sort of sense to me. That patient--the one that Carly prevented me from seeing at St. Mary's that day--that was you, wasn't it? Is that when you had your secret paternity test?
Daniel: Because you weren't sure if I was the father.
Daniel: Do not touch me.
Philip: Melanie, I swear it only happened once.
Melanie: Wow. You did not just say that.
Philip: Look, I know it sounds lame, but it's true. I made a mistake, okay? And I swear it never happened again.
Melanie: You know, not only are you a disgusting, womanizing creep, but you're also delusional. You think the fact that you slept with Chloe only one time makes everything okay?
Philip: No. No. It's not just that it happened once. There was a reason.
Melanie: Of course, there was. Of course, there was. The reason is you think you can do whatever you want because you're a Kiriakis.
Philip: Oh, come on. Come on, come on. You know that's not true.
Melanie: Yes, I do. I'm out of here. Do not touch me!
Philip: I slept with Chloe because I saw you kissing Nathan. I thought you had betrayed me. I thought you had betrayed me.
Melanie: So it's my fault?
Philip: I'm just saying I wouldn't have reacted so badly if--if I hadn't thought that.
Melanie: Yeah? Your--your logic, Philip, I'm missing something here.
Philip: I was depressed as hell. I thought I was losing you. I was going crazy.
Melanie: So you decide to have sex with Chloe? Unprotected sex, by the way, because you two managed to make a child. All because of your undying love for me?
Philip: Yes. Yes. In a way, yes. Because if I hadn't thought I was losing you, I wouldn't have reacted so badly...to thinking that you had slept with somebody else. I-I-I... I made a mistake.
Melanie: Do you really think I'm going to buy this?
Philip: It makes sense if you'll think about it.
Melanie: No, no, no. I don't want to think about it, Philip. I don't want to think about anything. I don't want to think about that. I don't want to hear another word come out of your mouth. No more lies. No more excuses. Just--just shut up. Just shut up and leave me alone.
Nicole: Brady, I'm sorry if this upsets you.
Brady: No, doesn't upset me. You marrying EJ DiMera. No, I try not to sweat the small stuff, Nicole.
Nicole: This is about the children. EJ thinks I'll make a good mother. Sydney and Johnny, they need me right now. They love me. Brady, I don't have any other choice.
Brady: Sydney is not your daughter.
Nicole: Don't be cruel.
Brady: Sydney is not your daughter! She is Sami's daughter. She will always be Sami's daughter, and that's not going to change just because you marry EJ again and move back into that house of horrors, Nicole.
Nicole: I know, Brady. I know. I know I will never be Sydney's mother. But I will be satisfied if I can just be around her to love her. That would be enough for me.
Brady: Fine. I get it. Congratulations on your engagement. Let me know where you're registered. I'll send you a gift.
Nicole: Brady, wait. Brady--Brady, wait, please. I love you. I love you so much. And things don't have to change between us.
Brady: Things are gonna change. You're marrying the most hateful bastard on the face of the planet. Who's keeping my sister away from her own children. Things will change.
Nicole: I'm doing this to help with Sami's children.
Brady: Oh, my God.
Nicole: I mean it.
Brady: Oh, my God.
Nicole: I-I mean it. We can keep doing what we're doing, Brady. Remarrying EJ is just a--it's a stupid legal document. But I will be married to you in my heart always.
Brady: Great. In our hearts, we'll be married. You know what, why don't you go on Facebook, I'll friend you, and then we can continue our relationship online.
Nicole: What is with Facebook? I am serious. Nothing has changed. We can still... sneak around and find... wonderful... cozy places to... to be together.
Brady: Over Vivian's dead body, Nicole.
Vivian: Those photos are authentic, EJ. In case you want me to prove it, I mean--
EJ: That won't be necessary. Thank you, Vivian.
Vivian: Oh, my timing is not perfect. I just realize you went through so much with your son. But I'm such a dear friend of your father's, I just couldn't let it go on any longer.
EJ: Quite. You're, uh, you're too kind.
Vivian: I try.
EJ: If you'll excuse me though, I have to spend some time with my children.
Vivian: How is little Johnny?
Vivian: Oh, good. He's so adorable--just--just give him my best, would you? Oh, and, EJ, Happy New Year.
Maggie: Victor, it wasn't Caroline who destroyed anyone's life. Yes, she made a bad decision. But the fact is that Chloe is the one who slept with Philip and conceived a child. That is the crux of the problem. That's where it all started. What are you thinking now?
Victor: That you're right. It wasn't Caroline. The three of them are responsible for this fiasco. Caroline, Chloe...
Maggie: Who's the third?
Victor: Carly Manning. The dark horse of deception.
Nicole: Why are you so worried about Vivian? She's gonna wait to tell EJ about us, don't you think? She's not gonna show him those pictures now. Especially after what happened to Johnny.
Brady: You really think Vivian has a heart?
Nicole: No. But I think she knows that EJ won't hear her. He'd hang up on her if she tried to call. He's slam the door in her face if she tried to see him.
Brady: You sure about this?
Nicole: Yeah. I know EJ. I mean, he's heard enough to know that she's a scheming liar. And he would totally think those pictures are doctored. So that gives us time to... figure things out. Time to, uh...
Kayla: So what my mother did was terribly misguided. There's no arguing with that. But if Chloe hadn't been allowed to take that paternity test behind your friend's back who you claim to care so much about--
Carly: I do care about him. I was trying to protect him.
Kayla: Oh, how noble of you.
Carly: You know what, he loves Chloe. Chloe loves him. So, yeah, maybe I didn't think the whole thing should end because of one stupid mistake, which only happened because Chloe thought that Daniel and I were--what am I doing? You've made up your mind that I'm to blame for everything-- that I'm heartless and nothing I do or say is going to change it, right?
Kayla: For once, you know what...you're absolutely right.
Melanie: No! No! No.
Melanie: You're unbelievable. Do you know that? Standing there with that self-pitying, pathetic look on your face, telling me you slept with Chloe because you love me?
Philip: It was because I was hurt.
Melanie: Liar! Now I know why Daniel tried to beat you up.
Philip: I thought you were sleeping with Nathan, okay? I thought you had betrayed me. I wouldn't have reacted so badly if I hadn't thought that.
Melanie: Really? Maybe you reacted so badly because it hurt your big, stupid ego.
Melanie: And how dare you put this on me. You slept with Chloe. You ruined our marriage. You ruined their marriage. But let's make this about my feelings for Nathan. Feelings which I never ever acted on.
Philip: But I didn't know that--I thought that you had betrayed me.
Melanie: Well, maybe you should have done a little more research. Maybe you should have talked to me about it, clarified a few things before you hopped in bed with my father's wife and knocked her up and lied about it for nine months.
Philip: I didn't know about that either. I thought that Chloe's and my mistake had no consequences except to make us both feel horrible and guilty. Melanie, I swear to you that's the truth. Up until an hour ago, I thought Parker was Daniel's.
Melanie: Well, you were dead wrong. Weren't you? Because that little boy, God help him...is your son. And I feel so, so sorry for him because his daddy may have a lot of money...but he has no soul.
Chloe: Look, if you want to go back and figure out what happened, we can do that, okay?
Daniel: Let's do it. Okay?
Chloe: After my hysterical pregnancy, I wasn't in my right mind. And I knew I wasn't. But you were all about Melanie and Carly having a new daughter.
Daniel: Oh, right, okay, yeah, let's just blame me.
Chloe: No, I'm not trying to do that. Not at all. I'm just trying to explain to you--
Daniel: Explain what? You felt threatened and insecure because Carly and I share a daughter. And, of course, the only way for you to comfort yourself is to have sex with another man, right? But not just any man. No. No. "How could I best act out this resentment I feel towards Daniel for being happy about something that doesn't directly involve me? Oh, I know, I'll have sex with his daughter's husband!" There's an idea.
Chloe: It's not that I resented your having a daughter. You know--
Daniel: How would I know that? How?
Chloe: It was Vivian. She paid those guys to make me believe that you were sleeping with Carly. I was sure that you two were having an affair. I was tricked, Daniel. You know I was. Say something, please. Tell me you understand that I was led to believe that you were sneaking off with Carly.
Daniel: You were supposed to believe in me. In me. And I do know, yeah, you were tricked.
Chloe: Then is there any way somehow that you can ever find it in your heart to forgive me?
Chloe: Why aren't you saying anything?
Daniel: I don't know. I just keep going back on, uh... all the times that, uh... the wedding was on, it was off. Is that because you were waiting for a paternity test?
Chloe: No. It was because Carly was determined to tell you about my mistake. And I was trying to talk her out of it. That's why I postponed the wedding. When I found out that I was going to have a baby, she agreed to keep my secret if the baby was yours because she knew how much I love you. And she didn't think it was worth hurting you that much when it was just that one-time, stupid, awful mistake.
Daniel: I see. And did you happen to confide your one-time, stupid, awful mistake to Father Matt? Is that why he was reluctant to marry us?
Daniel: Yeah. And Nicole. And obviously you must've confided in your--in your best friend.
Chloe: I did.
Daniel: You did? So all these people knew of this terrible thing you had done, and they kept it from me.
Philip: You're right. Parker deserves better than me for a father.
Melanie: Well, it's a good thing I'm not pregnant then, isn't it? 'Cause then we'd have two babies who deserve better.
Philip: Look, I know I've said this before, but I was beside myself with jealousy. That's why I did what I did. But--but the love I felt for you--the love that I still feel for you, it's so strong, it's so real. If I lose you, I'll lose everything. Melanie, I know what a mess I've made of everything, but... but...
Melanie: But what?
Philip: What I'm asking is do-- do you still love me?
EJ: [Exhales] Did you get a chance to think about my proposal?
Nicole: Yes. Uh, I thought about it a lot.
Nicole: And I think it's a great idea for all parties concerned. So, yes, I will marry you.
Nicole: You don't seem thrilled about it.
EJ: No, I-I, um, I was a little bit, and then we seem to have hit a snag.
Carly: I know you resent me because of my relationship with Bo, but you have no idea the difficult choices I've had to make. Kayla, how is it that you know so much about this? It didn't just come from your mother.
Kayla: Stay out of it, Carly. Stay out of my life.
Melanie: Part of me will always love you. You've been so amazing to me. Except in the one way that matters the most, Philip. So even if I could forgive you for what you did to me, how could I ever forgive you for what you did to my father?
Chloe: [Crying] Well, what about Parker? Do you still love him?
Daniel: That is the stupidest question.
Chloe: Okay, you're right. I-I know--I know it is, because I know the answer. I know you do. I know you love that little boy with all your heart. So please don't throw this all away. Please. We can still have a life together, the three of us. We can make this work. Please.
Kate: Brady. Finally. Where's everyone else?
Brady: Everyone else?
Kate: Yes. The Jonas baby baptism. You didn't attend?
Brady: No, I didn't go to that.
Kate: Ah, well, I did want to talk to you and to Victor.
Brady: Let me guess. It's about Vivian, right?
Kate: I have had an epiphany.
Brady: Those are scary.
Kate: Mm. And you know what struck me?
Kate: We're acting like fools--complete fools. Cowards even.
Brady: How so?
Kate: Well, think about it. Vivian--evil, sadistic, unpredictable, and she's out for revenge against you, against me, against Victor and Nicole. She is bebopping around Salem plotting and planning... while we sit here waiting for the other shoe to drop. And what kind of sense does that make?
Brady: It doesn't make any sense.
Kate: Well, hallelujah. Thank God you agree with my point.
Brady: I do see your point and... oh, man, Kate, I just got a hell of an idea.
Nicole: Hello, uh, it's called Photoshop. All you need is a computer and a twisted imagination.
EJ: That's your defense? That these have been doctored?
Nicole: That's not a defense. It's a fact. Vivian already showed me those. Why do you think I didn't act surprised?
EJ: Because as well as being quite an accomplished liar, you're also a good actor. You lied to me for the last time, Nicole.
Philip: I understand that. I do. It's not just about you and me. It's...it's about your father too. I'm sorry about that.
Melanie: You destroyed his life and you're...you're just sorry?
Philip: That night, Chloe made it sound like he had betrayed her too. And also--
Melanie: And also what, Philip?
Philip: Daniel slept with Chloe when she was engaged to Lucas.
Melanie: Why are you bringing that up?
Philip: Because you put him on a pedestal, Melanie. But he's fallible too just like the rest of us.
Melanie: Don't. Don't do that. Don't compare him to the rest of us, because the rest of us includes you.
Philip: I'm just saying.
Melanie: You're just saying? My dad is a good, honest man. And you know what, thank God I have him, because he and Maggie are all I have left in the world.
Daniel: Don't do that again.
Chloe: I'm sorry. I just thought--
Daniel: You thought what? Maybe we could just have sex and this whole disaster would disappear? What kind of pathetic idiot do you think I am? Oh, my God, I got to get out of here.
Chloe: No, please don't leave. No, please don't leave.
Daniel: Don't touch me! Do not touch me! Please.
Chloe: Please don't go. Look, we can make this work. I love you so much and I'm so sorry.
Daniel: So am I. And you will never know how much.
Kayla: So my mother sat up?
Maxine: For a second. Yes.
Kayla: That's good news, right?
Maxine: Sure is. The doctors are very impressed.
Kayla: Good. So they'll start the rehabilitation therapy immediately, right?
Maxine: Oh, yeah. Uh, today in fact.
Kayla: Good. Good. Can I--can I see her?
Maxine: Follow me, honey.
Victor: You. How do you live with yourself?
Kate: So what's your plan?
Brady: I was thinking about the time when Vivian last tried to poison you. Remember that?
Kate: Oh, yes. Yes, I remember that very well. She poisoned my coffee. But the pilot of the plane that I was flying on drank it instead.
Brady: Then you ended up in the middle of the ocean, right?
Kate: Chopping fish.
Brady: It's a funny image, actually.
Kate: Okay, just tell me the plan. Not here. These walls have ears. Come with me.
Nicole: EJ, look, it's not--
EJ: Don't...play...me... for...a fool. You've been seeing Brady ever since you told me that you broke up with him, okay? And then when my son is in hospital having surgery, you bring him into my house? Into my house? And you pleasure yourself with him all over the room!
Nicole: You need to understand something. I love Sydney, and you know how much I love her. But I need to be loved too, EJ.
EJ: You knew the rules... and you agreed to follow them. So you should understand the consequences for not.
Nicole: EJ, where are you going? EJ, wait. EJ! EJ!
Carly: How do I live with myself?
Victor: I'm gonna go see Caroline.
Carly: This from a man whose entire life has been a travesty. Who's built a career on being greedy and dishonest and treacherous. Who's raised a son to be just as greedy and dishonest and treacherous.
Victor: What a relief.
Carly: What are you talking about, "what a relief"?
Victor: That Bo finally left you to go rescue his wife. That he's finally gotten a little class.
Melanie: Dad. Dad. Um, I wanted to call you.
Daniel: I know, I did too. I just--I--I knew Philip was unfaithful. I just--I didn't know--
Melanie: It was with your wife. I knew Chloe cheated on you. I just--I didn't know it was with my husband. I wanted to tell you so many times. I just--the baby was born, and I was so sure that that child was yours that I just didn't have the heart--
Daniel: Hey, hey, hey, I get it. I understand. I do.
Melanie: I hope so.
Daniel: I do. It's just you got two people that are just trying to protect each other. That's all, okay?
Melanie: I know you're a fan of, um... trying to see the best in every situation or maybe pointing out the silver lining, but please don't do that. There isn't one here.
[Knocking at door]
Chloe: Daniel. Hey, Daniel-- it's you.
Philip: May I come in?
Chloe: No, if you're here when Daniel gets back, you're just going to make everything worse.
Philip: Chloe, he's not coming back. Melanie, Daniel, they're not just coming back to us.
EJ: Well, well, well. Still here.
Nicole: EJ, can you just hear me out, please? Just listen to me.
Nicole: Can I, uh... can I at least see Sydney one last time?
EJ: She's taking a nap.
Nicole: Right. I'll get my things in the morning.
EJ: What? That's it...is it? You're gonna leave, are you?
Nicole: You're making me.
EJ: I'm making a point, Nicole.
Nicole: Point? What point?
EJ: I thought it would be instructive for you to appreciate firsthand what life would be like without Sydney. You know, especially now that you've got used to spending so much time with her and having her around.
Nicole: It's unbearable. Painful beyond words.
EJ: Is it? I'm going to give you one last chance to make your choice. And, Nicole, you better not blow it this time.
Chloe: You are wrong, Philip. Daniel's coming back to me. I know he is.
Philip: Whatever you say.
Chloe: Why are you here anyway? What do you want?
Philip: To see Parker. I want to see my son.
Melanie: I keep thinking about that little boy. That's the worst part about all this--to me, anyway.
Daniel: Me--me too.
Melanie: Philip and Chloe don't deserve to have Parker. You're a thousand times the parent that slut will ever be.
Daniel: Melanie, don't. No. You are not gonna talk-- you're not.
Melanie: Oh, my God.
Daniel: What? What?
Melanie: Legally, you're Parker's father, right?
Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, I am.
Melanie: Dad, we need to take Parker away from them.
Kate: All right, tell me the plan.
Brady: Back at the house when we were going down memory lane. You know, you were telling me about the pilot having been drugged by Vivian and you ended up in the middle of the ocean in the plane crash--all that stuff.
Kate: Yes. Get to the point, please.
Brady: As you know, grandfather has many private islands that he owns. Think over a dozen. Maybe two dozen of them. And they're all very small. So small that many people don't even know about them. As a matter of fact, there's one that's so small, it's so insignificant, it's actually uninhabited.
Kate: Not for long.
Nicole: You're gonna give me another chance?
EJ: Yes. It's not like me, is it?
Nicole: It's a bit out of character.
EJ: Maybe I'm mellowing with age. What do you think, eh? Possible? Ha ha.
Nicole: Lovely thought.
EJ: So...where are we? Let me see. Okay. Um... you can, uh...marry me. We can be married, you and I. Or you can have sex with Brady. However... it cannot be both. I, um... haven't mellowed that much. [Laughs] So... what's it gonna be, hmm? Call Brady or walk out the door. Up to you.
On the next "Days of Our Lives" --
Philip: Everything is different now.
