Victor: Damn, damn, damn, damn.
Philip: So what has Vivian done now?
Victor: Well, first of all, she's had the unmitigated gall to send me, me, the bill for that customized, state-of-the-art, media-equipped sarcophagus.
Philip: Well, you'd better pay it, or they'll send you to a collection agency.
Victor: First of all, this is no time for jokes. And secondly, that's not the problem.
Philip: What is the problem?
Victor: In a million years, I will never understand that woman's fevered brain.
Philip: She has a brain?
Victor: [Scoffs] Listen, that inane, illogical, irrational woman has got one of the best financial brains I've ever seen.
Victor: Don't underestimate her. Look at this--she's moved around her middle eastern holdings, and she's made a bundle in the process. And she's set up an extradition-proof exit strategy. She's up to something.
Philip: Well, what's new? She's always up to something.
Victor: Ah, I'm just glad you and Melanie have moved in here, safe and sound.
Philip: You really think Vivian's still a threat? I mean, she got away with that stuff in the past because no one could believe she was that crazy. Now we all have our guard up.
Victor: And she knows that. And she's using that brain of hers to find our cumulative Achilles' heel and use it to destroy all of us.
Daniel: Is he asleep?
Chloe: No, almost.
Daniel: Ohh. You want me to put him down?
Chloe: No. [Both chuckle] I want this moment to last forever. [Whispering] Yeah.
Daniel: Me too.
Chloe: My boy.
Caroline: Father... forgive me... for I have sinned.
Bo: I keep thinking about this damn psych report.
Carly: You think maybe it's wrong?
Bo: Yeah. When Hope was violent last summer, she was under the influence of that damn drug, and she attacked men she knew personally. To attack prisoners... she's just not that stupid.
Carly: Okay, well, then you're gonna have to ask her about it when you see her.
Bo: Yeah. Got a whole lot of questions about what's going on in that place.
Hope: What do you want me to do?
Warden Smith: You're gonna write a letter to your soon-to-be ex-husband, and you're gonna tell him you had a relapse.
Hope: I didn't.
Warden Smith: Just listen, damn it. You're gonna tell him that you're fine, that you're getting treatment, that you're in good hands. So... "Dear Bo..."
Hope: I won't do it.
Warden Smith: Well, that is an option. But then I'm gonna have to make sure that there is no chance of you telling anyone about our little operation here. So you either write that nice letter, or I'm gonna have to find another way of shutting you up... for good.
Rafe: Ah! Stop biting me! Agh!
Sami: Rafe? What...
Rafe: Hope you've had your shots.
Sami: What are you doing here?
Rafe: Don't you think that's my line?
Sami: No! I think--
EJ: Well, well, well... what are you doing here? Hmm? I think you just made a very big mistake.
Gabi: Uh, I-I think I should go, um--
Will: No... please stay.
Kate: So am I supposed to be intimidated now?
EJ: Well, I just, uh, thought you had a brain in your head... meaning I thought you moved out.
Kate: I'm picking up some papers. What the hell are you doing out here at this hour in this weather?
EJ: I'm looking for a snake. You know what? I think I found one.
Warden Smith: I should think you'd be grateful.
Warden Smith: I've given you a chance, a way out. All you have to do is write the commissioner and convince him it's better that you don't see him.
Hope: You don't know Bo. A letter is not gonna stop him.
Warden Smith: You better hope that it does. Convince him that your mental health is at stake... or else.
Hope: I'll disappear like the other prisoners?
Warden Smith: By George, I think she's got it.
Hope: Well, you know what, Warden? I'm not like the other prisoners. You see... I have family. I have strong connections to people who love me. And mainly, I have Bo. I disappear, and he will never stop, not ever, and you'll be in more trouble than you are now.
Warden Smith: You're threatening me?
Hope: One way or another, your little ride, it's over. So you better start thinking about how bad the fallouts going to be, and think about... how long... you'll be spending in a place just like this.
Carly: So when do you think you're gonna hear from her?
Bo: I don't know.
Carly: Okay, I'm gonna call Chloe and Daniel and tell them we can't make it.
Bo: Oh, no, no, no. Don't do that. I mean, I got my cell. They can get a hold of me when they need to, and I know how much you want to see that-- that little boy.
Carly: Well, he is kind of cute.
Bo: Yeah, he is, and he's got you wrapped around his finger. You know, it's almost like you guys have some kind of secret bond.
Chloe: You know... I don't think anybody could write an aria about this kind of happiness.
Daniel: 'Cause it'd wake up the baby.
Chloe: Well, yeah. It's just so peaceful. Yeah. You know, anybody who's been in an orphanage tries to imagine what a happy family would be like.
Daniel: I don't like to think about you in that place.
Chloe: Yeah, well... now at least I can really, really appreciate what I have... that all my dreams have come true.
Daniel: Yeah. Yeah. Yes, they have.
Caroline: I didn't mean to hurt anyone... by changing those paternity tests. I just... I kept thinking of that helpless baby. And I-I just--I had to get him out of that Kiriakis family. Now he has--he has two loving parents... and he will grow up to be a good person... and healthy and strong and... I will take that secret... to my grave. And if you think I should be punished for that... so be it.
Will: Uh... I mean, uh, I don't want you to leave. I didn't mean to tell you what to do.
Gabi: I know what you mean.
Will: Yeah. I mean, if you want to leave, then... I'm sorry. [Chuckles]
Gabi: You're sorry?
Will: Um, actually, no. No, I'm not. I'm glad that happened.
Gabi: I guess...
Gabi: I am too.
Will: [Exhales deeply] [Both laugh]
Kate: Oh! So there really was a snake. You weren't speaking metaphorically.
EJ: No, it's, uh, Sydney's. She won't go to bed without it.
Kate: She and I should have a little talk. I'm an expert at going to bed with snakes.
EJ: [Chuckles] Well, you won't get to have that talk, Kate, because you're not going to see her again. Good night.
Sami: Oh, that was close.
Rafe: Shh. Let's get out of here. Then you and I can have a nice long talk.
EJ: Thank you, Mary. Oh. Still here?
Kate: I told you I had to get these.
EJ: Oh, yes. Your memoir, hmm? "Chapter one--how to bake a brownie."
Kate: I shall certainly miss your wit... and all the good times we had together.
EJ: Ah, cheers. So where are you going to be holing up? Do they have a halfway house for over-the-hill hookers? I forget.
Kate: You know, I always contended that Sami was useless, but to screw up shooting a dead-drunk idiot at point-blank range, talk about a missed opportunity.
EJ: It's funny--I actually think that worked out rather well for me. Hey, you know, I mean, I always said that I would take a bullet for my kids, and then I actually did, and the next thing you know, I have custody of them, and there's not a damn thing Samantha can do about it.
Kate: [Chuckles] You actually think you've won, don't you?
EJ: Nope. I don't think that I've won, Kate. I know that I've won.
Kate: Then you, my boy, are a complete idiot.
Rafe: What in God's name were you thinking?
Sami: Okay, okay. I get it--you're mad!
Rafe: Mad? If Sydney had dropped that stupid stuffed snake two feet closer to you, you would be in jail right now facing attempted murder charges. E.J. was this close to finding you!
Sami: I know, but he didn't.
Rafe: This time. But you're not gonna stop, are you?
Sami: Look, Rafe, it was an emergency.
Rafe: It always is, Sami. It's always an emergency with you. You tell me you're gonna listen to me, then you go do whatever the hell you like.
Sami: Wait a second. That's what this is about? You're mad because I didn't do what you told me to do?
Rafe: This is about you getting your kids back. It doesn't matter, 'cause you're not gonna listen. You're gonna end up in prison, and you're never gonna see them again.
Philip: Ah, I'm good, Brian. Thanks.
Brian: Tell her that. She sent it over for you.
Brian: You know her?
Philip: Yeah, she works for me.
Brian: Looks to me like she's ready for some overtime.
Philip: I'm a married man, Brian. I don't do overtime anymore.
Sabrina: Oh, come on, Philip. It's just a drink.
Daniel: Hi! Good, more swag.
Carly: You know what? I've decided that heaven is just one big baby department store. So I spent three hours trying to figure out if I wanted to get the baby booties or the baby sweater.
Daniel: Well, what'd you decide?
Carly: I got both.
Carly: Hi, Parker.
Chloe: Hi, want to hold him?
Carly: I do. Thank you so much. Come here, baby. Oh, my goodness. You know what? If you guys wanted to go to a movie or to Europe for, like, three weeks, I would watch him. I would, and you know what, Parker? I will buy you candy and toys and a pony.
Daniel: That woman's like a drill sergeant in the O.R. Put that baby in her hand, and she's mush.
Chloe: Well, Parker's just like his daddy. He's got a way with the ladies.
Daniel: You know, it's weird. I still kind of jump when I hear someone say that I'm a daddy.
Bo: Yeah, that reality's rather staggering. You and Chloe, you're really lucky the way things worked out.
Chloe: What do you mean by that?
Warden Smith: I am this close to losing my patience with you. And believe me, you don't want that to happen.
Hope: Just pointing out you're only in control temporarily.
Warden Smith: You either write this letter right now... or I'm gonna be forced to make other arrangements.
Hope: You're making a big mistake.
Warden Smith: Your concern for my welfare is touching. Now write... "Dear Bo... I've had a few rough days here recently, and... I've gotten myself... into a bit of trouble."
E.J.: You think I'm an idiot? Hmm. Please, elaborate. Amplify.
Kate: The worst part is, I think, I believe that, deep down, you know I'm right.
E.J.: I'll stop you right there. I don't actually have a deep down. Now, I can be shallow. I can be callow. But, uh, not sure about deep down, though, apparently, I am an idiot.
Kate: And I believe that you love your children. I truly believe that.
E.J.: I don't really care what you believe.
Kate: And yet you persist in this vendetta against Sami. You're trying to hurt her as deeply as you can for as long as you can.
E.J.: Well, now, I think that's a tiny bit hypocritical coming from somebody who tried to put a needle in Samantha's arm for something she didn't do.
Kate: Wow. If you take all of that pain and quadruple it, that's what's in store for you.
E.J.: Well... [Clears throat] I don't really care. You need to get your papers and get out of here.
Kate: I know what I'm talking about, EJ, because I saw what happened to Curtis. Actually, he played the same game with me. He took my children away from me. He told them I was dead. He took them, and he lied to them.
E.J.: Well... [Clears throat] Kate, you are a, um... horrible person. You do horrible things. You know, I don't think you really deserve to be a mother.
Kate: You're off point... because I'm talking about Curtis... because Billy and Austin eventually found out what happened just the same way Johnny and Sydney will find out what happened. And from that moment on... Curtis was dead to them. Well, I know that you're going to want to spend a lot of time with your children. And day by day, you are going to fall deeper and deeper in love with them... so much in love that you'll feel like you could burst. And then they're gonna find out what you did. And they'll spit in your eye, and they'll turn on you, and they'll walk out of your life. And the thing that you want most in life will be gone. That's why I think you are a complete fool.
Sami: No, Rafe, it has not slipped my mind that E.J. has the power to put me in prison.
Rafe: Well, you act like it has.
Sami: I act like a mother who is concerned about her children. Look, I'm lying to myself and convincing myself that Sydney is just a baby, so this isn't gonna ruin her life. But E.J. has turned Johnny's life inside out.
Rafe: I know that.
Sami: And I just want him to know that his mother loves him, that I haven't abandoned him.
Rafe: I know that.
Sami: And anyway, you're the one who told me that Stefano and E.J. wouldn't be there.
Rafe: Sami, they're not the only ones in that house, you know.
Sami: Yeah, well, the only person who saw me was Johnny.
Rafe: Oh, okay. And you think he's gonna be able to keep your little visit a secret?
Sami: Yes. Yes, I'm hoping that he can.
Rafe: I still don't think it was worth the risk.
Sami: Well, I do. I totally think it was worth the risk. And anyway, I convinced Johnny that if EJ finds out that I was there, I'm never gonna get to see him again.
Rafe: Oh. Well, that puts Johnny in a great position, doesn't it?
Sami: E.J. did that, not me. I just want my son to know that I love him.
Rafe: I'm sure he was happy to see you.
Sami: He was. He had a million questions... which I can't answer. I mean, how could I explain without making it worse? So... all I can do is worry about what this is gonna do to him. I mean, this is the kind of thing that could traumatize a kid for the rest of his life.
Johnny: Mommy, Mommy!
Bo: Well, you guys didn't think you could have kids there for a while, so... this little guy is kind of a miracle, right?
Chloe: Yeah, right. He is.
Daniel: Well, anybody want a beer?
Carly: You want a brewski, Parker?
Chloe: There's also white wine in the fridge.
Daniel: Honey, you want a beer or wine?
Carly: Oh, no, wine. Let's stick to our gender stereotypes, shall we? Come here, sweetheart. Oh, my goodness.
Chloe: Oh, my gosh, I kind of freaked out just then.
Carly: Yeah, I know, I could tell.
Chloe: I'm sorry. I just thought that maybe Bo knew what I did.
Carly: Chloe, I never said a word to him.
Chloe: Thank you. And I know you don't like keeping secrets from him.
Carly: No, I don't. And I'm worried, because secrets have a way of coming out in ways that you don't even see coming.
Caroline: [Sighs] God... please let this be okay. Please don't let anyone ever find out the truth.
Kate: E.J., this situation that you're setting up right now is going to produce unhappy, troubled, troubled people. All of the decisions that you make now are gonna prevent them from--from ever being strong, independent adults. Don't you see that?
E.J.: See, that's the difference between you and me, Kate. You are wrong. My kids are gonna be fine.
Kate: No. No, you're wrong.
Butler: Mr. DiMera, I'm sorry, sir. It's Johnny.
Butler: He's had a nightmare. Mary can't seem to calm him down.
E.J.: I'll take care of it.
Butler: Uh, sir, it's not you he wants to see. He's been calling for his mother.
Sami: I knew E.J. wanted sole custody. I knew he wasn't gonna let me see my kids. I didn't believe that he would try to convince my children that I don't love them.
Rafe: I still can't believe anything he does surprises you.
Sami: This does. I mean, this is the kind of thing that kids don't recover from. This can mess Johnny up for his entire life... and I don't understand that. When I look at my son's big, brown eyes, all I want is for him to be happy and healthy and safe.
Rafe: I know.
Sami: How come E.J. doesn't see that? I mean, he looks at those same eyes. He's their father. I mean, he has to want his kids to be happy, right? And he has to, at some point, see I'm their mother, and they need me to be happy.
Rafe: Yeah, I don't know. If E.J. wants to be a good father, he certainly has an interesting way of going about it.
Sami: Well, at this point, since they're with him all the time, I have to believe that he wants to be a good father. Otherwise, I will go crazy, literally crazy.
Sami: And now all we can do is sit here and hope and pray that Johnny's gonna keep my visit a secret.
EJ: Shh, shh, shh. Everything's okay. Okay, look, Daddy's here. You're fine, right?
Johnny: I didn't want you here. I want Mommy. Tell her to come back in here now!
Warden Smith: So let's see how well you take dictation. I have to make sure you didn't try to get creative on me and add a little something extra.
Hope: I wouldn't dream of it.
Warden Smith: Mm, looks good. So... I will courier this over to Bo at the Salem P.D., and... one more problem will be off my list... leaving you.
Hope: I thought that letter ensured that I was no longer a threat to you.
Warden Smith: Well, can't be too careful, can you? Oh, Hope, it really is too bad. Why didn't you just leave well enough alone? I actually liked you. You could have had an easy time of it here. Guard. I hate what I--what I'm gonna have to do now.
Sabrina: I know I shouldn't be throwing back drinks with the boss, but we are off the clock, right? How about another round?
Philip: I'm still your boss. And I'm a married man.
Sabrina: Mm, I think you should know married men are a specialty of mine.
Chloe: Is this hard for you, holding him?
Carly: Little bit. Can't help but think of all the time I was with Melanie.
Chloe: Well, you'll always be special to this baby... and to me. I know you did what you did for Daniel, but I will always be grateful.
Carly: Let's let it go, Chloe.
Chloe: I just want you to know that I'm really happy that you're in Parker's life. And I'm sorry that you have to keep my secret for me.
Carly: Shh. There you go.
[Cell phone ringing]
Bo: Uh, excuse me. Sorry. Brady. He's what? No, that's just kind of strange. No, no, no, keep it there. I, uh--I'll be down in a little bit. Yeah. I'm sorry. I... I got to go down to the station. There's a letter waiting for me there from Hope.
Carly: You want me to come with you?
Bo: No, no, you-- you hang out here. Get your baby fix.
Daniel: No, I'll walk out with you. I was gonna pick up some takeout anyway, so...
Bo: Okay. Okay. See you, uh--see you later there, Parker. And I'll call you soon as I know anything.
Carly: I hope everything works out.
Bo: Yeah, me too.
Daniel: Is there a problem with Hope?
Bo: I don't know. Maybe this letter will shed some light.
Chloe: What's going on?
Carly: Uh, Hope is in some kind of trouble, and it's just driving Bo crazy that he can't fix it.
[Keys rattling in lock]
Rafe: Gabi, what are you doing here?
Gabi: Uh, I was just coming over to, um, uh, fix--uh, I was studying, and I needed will to help me out... with a problem. Yeah, I need to get back to the pub, though.
Gabi: Thank you with the problem. I-I understand it now.
Will: Yeah, anytime.
Gabi: Good night.
Rafe: Good night.
Will: Uh, so is everything okay?
Sami: Yeah. Yeah, it's all right.
Rafe: Ohh. So he knows what you were doing tonight?
Sami: Maybe you should do your homework in your room, huh?
Will: Yeah. Yeah, okay. Well, good night, everybody.
Rafe: Good night. Hmm, so he knows where you went, huh?
Sami: You gonna go interrogate him about it?
Rafe: No, not about that.
Rafe: Well, listen to me. I know this situation sucks, but I think that we should deal with it together.
Sami: Yes, and I would like to deal with it together, if you understand how important it is for me...
Rafe: I do.
Sami: To make my son and daughter know how much I love them.
Rafe: I know that.
Sami: It's important for me to make sure that E.J. doesn't poison my children against me, Rafe.
Rafe: Well, that is not gonna happen, Sami. Johnny knows how much you love him.
Sami: Hopefully he does after tonight. I just know how much my son needs me. He needs his mom.
E.J.: Listen, your mommy's not here.
Johnny: She was.
E.J.: No, the last time we saw her was on the pier, remember? Look, she's not interested in us anymore. But that's okay, because I love you enough for a mommy and a daddy.
Johnny: I have to see Mommy!
E.J.: I know-- I know you do. But you can't. I'm sorry. That's just the way it has to be. Sorry.
Philip: You know, Sabrina, I'm sure there's some lucky guy out there who would just love to party with you tonight.
Sabrina: Mm, no one as fun as you.
Philip: But not as married as I am. I'm very married. And I like it like that.
Sabrina: You don't know what you're missing.
Philip: Um... I'll see you in the morning.
Sabrina: Give my best to the missus.
Will: Hey, Mom, I just forgot my phone. "You still... studying?"
[Cell phone ringing]
Gabi: "No. I got too distracted. Something else got my attention."
Will: "Really? Same thing happened to me tonight."
Gabi: "Good night."
Will: [Sighs] "Good night."
Rafe: Well... Allie was out like a light.
Sami: Yeah, she sure was. I hope Johnny can sleep. It's been an emotional day.
Rafe: Yeah. Hey, Sami... I'm not gonna give up. You know that. I'm gonna get something on E.J. This is not gonna go on forever.
Sami: I know that.
Sami: I just hope Johnny does too.
Johnny: I have to see Mommy!
EJ: Okay, just--just--just take it easy for a second, all right?
Johnny: I want Mommy!
EJ: I'm sorry, okay? That's just the way it's gonna have to be.
Johnny: I hate you.
Hope: Bo, please... when you get the letter, read it very, very carefully... every word of it.
Bo: "And after they caught me with a phone I stole, I attacked a trustee..." what?
Hope: [Sighs] You've got to figure it out, Bo.
Bo: "Which is why I might never get out of solitary. Bo, not a minute goes by that I don't think about our precious Ciara." What the...? What the hell is that?
Chloe: You know, my mom says I'm really lucky that he's a good sleeper, but... I don't know. If it were up to me, I'd want him to be awake all the time.
Carly: Oh, I get it. [Sighs] I wish Bo would call.
Chloe: Yeah, it must be kind of tough watching him go through all this with Hope, right?
Carly: He's just so worried about her, and there's nothing I can do but watch... and keep my mouth shut.
Carly: This has to stay between us, okay?
Chloe: What, you want me to keep a secret for you? Wow, that's asking way too much. No, seriously, what is it?
Carly: It's just that everything happened really fast with us, and I... want to do what's right for him. And lately, with everything that's been going on with Hope, I just... it's just been really hard not to have his attention. And I know that's being selfish.
Chloe: No, no, you have a really valid point. And you're probably sick to death of having to keep your mouth shut and being caught up in other people's problems. Hell, I know I've put you through a lot.
Carly: Chloe, I mean it. Let's just keep it in the past. And if I ever question what I did, seeing this baby happy and safe and with loving parents--that makes it all worth it.
Victor: Easy. That girl's nothing but trouble.
Daniel: Oh, you know her?
Victor: Sabrina--she works at Titan. If she wasn't so damn good at her job, I'd fire her.
Daniel: Yeah? Why is that?
Victor: Human Resources nightmare. She's broken up more than one marriage. She's a real man-eater. Have you seen Philip? He was supposed to meet someone here, I thought.
Daniel: Uh, yeah. No, he was here, but he left. So, um, does she work with Philip?
Victor: Yes, she reports directly to him. They're quite a team, actually.
EJ: What are you still doing here?
Kate: I waited to see how it went. Did Johnny ask for his mother?
Kate: Yes, he did. And what did you say to him? What lie did you tell him?
EJ: You know, Kate, I think it's about time that you left.
Kate: I can tell by your face you're worried. And you should be... my darling. You should be.
EJ: [Sighs] Desperate times call for desperate measures. I think it's about time you and I had another chat, Samantha.
Rafe: So... you're scared Johnny thinks he's lost you forever.
Sami: Well, I certainly was after what happened on the pier, having to turn my back on him, following E.J.'s orders.
Rafe: Well, you just have to have faith that he understands what you told him. He knows you'd never leave him, Sami. He knows that.
Sami: And whenever you see me do this sign, what are you gonna say to yourself?
Johnny: Mommy loves me.
Sami: Yeah. I think it's gonna be okay.
Rafe: Yeah. I think so.
On the next "Days of Our Lives" --
Daniel: Why are you in a rush to have a baby?
Rafe: I want that son of a bitch out of my wife's life, permanently.
Sami: I can still stand here and tell you to go to hell.
