Sami: Good night, sweetheart.
Johnny: Good night, Mom.
Sami: Mwah. [Crying]
EJ: Come on, Nicole, let's get out of here. You know what honeymooners are like on their wedding night. Ahem.
Hanson: So, Mr. Black, are you ready to sign the statement implicating Miss Alamain in Mrs. Horton's imprisonment?
Brady: [Sighs] Sorry. I can't.
Victor: Why not?
Will: Oh, cookies. Hey, Grandpa, guess what. Allie is gonna help us set up for the party.
Roman: Ma. All right, what did Sami do that I need to know you couldn't tell me about in the message? And why is there a party?
Caroline: She got married.
Roman: Which one?
Roman: Well, thank God for that, at least.
Caroline: Well, you didn't think she'd marry EJ.
Roman: Ma, how in the hell am I supposed to know what she will or will not do? Obviously, she doesn't see the need to keep me in the loop.
Roman: You know what? Maybe--just maybe when she gets a second, she can send me an email. "Daddy, FYI--I got married last week."
Caroline: You don't know the whole story. She had to do it quickly and for a very good reason.
Rafe: It's all right.
Sami: It's not--it's not all right! It's not all right!
Rafe: Listen to me. EJ DiMera wants war, he's got war. He's got it. Listen, we're just gonna be stronger than he is. We're gonna be stronger than he is for Johnny and Sydney's sake, you hear me? All right?
Sami: For Johnny and Sydney.
Rafe: That's right. That's right. It's not over. It's not over. We're gonna get those kids back. He's not getting away with this. He's not. It's gonna be okay. Trust me.
Bo: Hey. Hi.
Carly: Hi. Oh...
Bo: How are Melanie and Nathan doing?
Carly: They're just--they're getting weaker. The hospital brass won't let Daniel go see Melanie, that's how bad it is. We need an antiviral. There just isn't one.
Bo: Is the CDC in on this?
Carly: Yeah, there are outbreaks all over the country. But time is of the essence. Nathan and Melanie are being assaulted by this thing, and it's not just them. If this virus spreads, it could be a disaster.
Melanie: My head is killing me.
Nathan: I'm sorry, I know.
Melanie: You were asleep for a long time.
Nathan: Was I?
Melanie: Yeah. Don't do that again. It freaked me out. I felt like I was alone.
Nathan: No, you're not alone.
Melanie: I'm sorry you're sick, but I'm glad you're here... even if you are a jerk.
Nathan: That's funny, 'cause I feel exactly the same way about you.
Maxine: How's it going?
Daniel: Well, I got a breakdown on the Loma Virus from the CDC.
Maxine: Does it help?
Daniel: Nah. I did a residency in infectious disease before I settled on... on surgery, but, you know, I think... I think I have an idea on how to go after this thing.
Bo: Here you go.
Carly: Oh, thanks for bringing this to me.
Bo: I knew you'd forget to eat.
Carly: I just keep thinking I wish it were me. Bo, I wish it were me.
Bo: Hey, hey, hey, hey. Melanie's not going to... she's gonna make it. You got to believe that. You got to believe it.
Carly: When you say it, I do.
Bo: Good. We have some work to do.
Nathan: You awake?
Melanie: I am now.
Nathan: You still think I'm a jerk?
Melanie: Nathan, I don't have enough energy to fight with you right now.
Nathan: I'm not trying to fight with you. I'm just--I don't like this whole not-being-friends thing, not right now.
Melanie: Yeah, but when you found out Chloe was sleeping around on my dad, you should have come to me, not Stephanie.
Nathan: I didn't know what to do.
Melanie: I don't care. It was my life and my dad... and you're supposed to be my friend.
Nathan: Is there any way to fix this?
Melanie: You should have come to me.
Nathan: I know. I know. And I would have if we were together. I would have, but I didn't-- I didn't know where I stood. I didn't... [Sighs] Think it was my place. I didn't think it was any of my business.
Victor: Who am I speaking to?
Hanson: Hanson. Detective Hanson.
Victor: Well, Detective, I would like to have a minute to talk with my grandson and... my wife.
Hanson: I'm sorry, sir. You're gonna have to wait outside.
Victor: Well, I'm sorry. I didn't introduce myself. Kiriakis. Victor Kiriakis. Perhaps you know my son, Bo-- Police Commissioner Brady?
Hanson: Yeah, yeah, of course, I do.
Victor: Well, I would consider it a personal favor if I could just have a few minutes with my family.
Hanson: I'll get a cup of coffee.
Victor: Thank you.
Victor: Now, what the hell is going on here?
Vivian: Brady and I were just having a little talk. I explained to him that he can't sign that statement without serious consequences. I even explained it in a way that even he could understand. I go down, I take every one of you with me.
Daniel: From what I got from the CDC and what I found on my own, there is a viral protein that can be disabled.
Carly: Without side effects?
Daniel: You know what? It's unlike any human protein. But you know what? We can manufacture it right here. And then we just got to test it. Test candidate drugs on--
Carly: Do we have candidate drugs?
Daniel: See, that's the hard part right there. That's the hard part. We got to design that one.
Carly: In time to save Melanie and Nathan?
Nathan: Well, then let me ask you something.
Nathan: With us being here like this, I mean, we're so sick with a virus that nobody knows how to cure. I mean, don't you think we should resolve this?
Melanie: Do you love your mom?
Nathan: Of course, I do.
Melanie: If I found out her fiancÚ was cheating on her, and I didn't tell you, would you be able to get over it?
Nathan: Listen, I'm not saying I don't understand where you're coming from. I'm not even saying you're wrong for feeling the way you do. I'm... look, I just... I don't know what to say to you. I don't even know how to talk to you about anything anymore. And that breaks my heart. You know I would never do anything to intentionally hurt you.
Melanie: [Sniffles] I know. I know.
Sami: I can't. I'm sorry, Rafe, I just cannot go in there and face my family.
Rafe: Sami, Sami. They need to know. We need to all be in on this together.
Sami: They were so happy at the wedding, and... I was so happy.
Rafe: Yeah. You will be again. I promise.
EJ: I know. There we go.
Mary: Mr. DiMera, I have the children's' rooms all set up.
EJ: Oh, that's wonderful, Mary--thank you. Johnny, why don't you run upstairs and go play? Okay.
Mary: Uh... Miss Nicole?
EJ: No, it's-- it's fine, Mary. She has a temporary visa. So don't worry about it.
Mary: Well, then let me have her, and I'll get her--
Nicole: No, no, no, no, wait, wait, wait, wait, I'm not... I'm not ready to give her up yet.
Roman: Well, you know what, Ma? I don't care what the reason is. I should have been there. I'm not real happy with her right now, as you can tell. Sweetheart... what's going on here? What's wrong?
Will: Where's Johnny and Sydney?
Sami: EJ has them.
Victor: You're forgetting something, Vivian. No one will ever believe a single word you say.
Vivian: Maggie will. Actually, she already does.
Victor: You witch.
Vivian: Oh, you just came from seeing her, didn't you? I can see the sadness in your eyes, because she's not gonna have anything to do with a vile man who lets me die in a tomb. I also know that you're not gonna let your beloved we-all- know-how-fragile-he-is grandson go to prison. So it seems I'm holding all the cards, and you have bubkes.
Brady: I think she's right.
Vivian: So to ensure that we all live happily ever after, Brady's going to sign a statement that says he found poor, disoriented Maggie wandering around in the graveyard like a ghost, aren't you, darling?
Brady: Granddad... I don't think I have much of a choice.
Nathan: [Mumbles] Was somebody just in here?
Melanie: [Laughs] No.
Nathan: I'm dreaming things. It shouldn't have been like this.
Melanie: [Laughs] Stephanie didn't want that.
Nathan: Did you?
Melanie: I wrote you a letter on my wedding day.
Nathan: [Scoffs] I know. But I f-feel like you... and Stephanie and--and everyone else are just running my life, and now we might not make it out of this--
Melanie: Don't say that--
Nathan: No, it's true, Melanie. Our vir--I mean, this... could be through the roof. This could be--both of us.
Melanie: There's something I didn't tell you.
Melanie: I heard you.
Nathan: [Softly] What?
Melanie: You were talking in your sleep. You said, "I love you, Melanie."
Nathan: That's because I do love you.
Melanie: I love you, too.
EJ: You're not... ready to give her up. May I point out, Nicole, that it's not really up to you.
Nicole: Please, EJ, just let me get her ready for bed.
EJ: You're lucky I feel somewhat magnanimous this evening--go ahead. Get on, go on.
EJ: Put her to bed.
Nicole: Thank you.
EJ: Oh, Mary, um... could you get Johnny ready for bed as well? Just put him in his PJs. Uh... Nicole's gonna take care of Sydney, and I'll be up shortly to tuck them both in and read them a story.
Mary: Yes, sir.
EJ: It's just like old times, isn't it?
EJ: Don't get any ideas, okay? [Sighs] To... Samantha... and a wedding you will never forget. Cheers.
Sami: So, actually, we just thought it might be nice if, um... if Sydney and... and Johnny spent some time with their dad.
Will: Hey, Allie. Allie, uh, why don't you help me make some lemonade for everybody, okay? Come on, come on.
Roman: Tell me this again. So you let EJ take the kids.
Sami: Well, Dad, I mean, it's not, like, exactly it was a choice.
Roman: What do you mean he had no choice? There's a restraining order out against him. I could put him jail for showing up at the wedding.
Sami: Dad, would you just trust me? I, um... I'm just gonna go clean up.
Sami: I'm okay.
Rafe: Okay, okay.
Sami: I'm okay. I just, um... I just want you to tell my dad to just give me a break, okay?
Rafe: All right, all right, I got it.
Gabi: Do you know what's going on?
Will: Uh, maybe. But I really hope I'm wrong.
Rafe: [Sighs] Roman, I know you're upset.
Roman: Look, Rafe... you know, maybe I wouldn't be if someone would actually tell me what the hell's going on.
Caroline: Sami asked you to trust her.
Roman: What, Ma, what? Does everybody have amnesia here? Does everybody forget what this guy did to her, that he stole her daughter from her?
Rafe: No one's forgotten. We're just... Sami and I are doing what we think is best for the children.
Roman: All right, okay. That's great. Wait a minute. Sami did it, didn't she? She's the one who... and EJ can prove she did it, can't he?
Carly: How do we test the drug?
Daniel: Okay, we insert the gene that synthesizes the target. You have the target protein and the bacteria, and then we culture the cells. We mass-produce the protein. And then we expose it to any and every treatment candidate there is. We evaluate it with a rapid screening. That's what we got to do.
Carly: Thank you. Thank you.
Daniel: Yeah, for what?
Carly: For being so driven on our daughter's behalf.
Daniel: You know what? It's not like I can go in there and hold her hand, right? What else am I gonna do?
Carly: You have a new baby.
Daniel: I know, but I can do it all. I can do it all, 'cause Chloe-- she's with Parker right now. And Melanie--she needs us probably more than she ever did.
Nathan: You said, "I love you."
Melanie: No. I don't know what I said. I love Philip. I married Philip. He's probably outside right now freaking out, because they don't know how I'm doing.
Nathan: And I have Stephanie.
Melanie: I'm not... Nathan, I'm not gonna be like Chloe. I...
Nathan: 'Cause it hurts too many people.
Melanie: We made our--our choices.
Sami: Dad, I, um... I'm just gonna have to ask you to trust me, okay? You can think whatever you want. But Rafe and I are doing what we think is best for the kids for the long haul.
Caroline: I think it's a good idea. Sami and Rafe--they will be alone tonight, and maybe the kids' sleepover with EJ might smooth things over. Anyway... she's right, you know? Some things are best left unspoken.
Sami: Dad. I don't want to lie to you. I don't want to not tell you things. I... I just--
Roman: Sami, Sami. Didn't you just hear what your grandmother said? Some things are better left unspoken. And you know what she's like when she doesn't get her way.
Sami: Thank you, Dad.
Roman: I do have one more thing to say, though. I am on your side... always, forever... no matter what. Okay, Will. You got that lemonade ready over there, buddy?
Will: Yes, sir.
Roman: Okay, and I also hate to see champagne getting warm over there, so... you know, what this party needs is a good toast.
Roman: All right, thank you.
Stephanie: Hey, Allie, come here.
Caroline: Thank you.
Roman: Get up there, Allie. Get with your mama there. All right.
Caroline: There we are.
Roman: Okay. To Rafe and Sami. Just might be the damndest couple I ever did see.
Caroline: Oh, that's...
Victor: Are you out of your mind?
Brady: I got you into this. I'm gonna get you out of it.
Victor: You didn't get me into anything.
Brady: Grandfather, come on, I was furious. I was--I was drunk, and I acted recklessly, and I have to own it.
Vivian: That's right.
Brady: Look, you covered for me, because you didn't have a choice.
Victor: I always had a choice. Besides, I'd rather take my lumps than never go after Maggie again.
Vivian: Oh, Maggie, Maggie, Maggie. I don't even care about Maggie. I have bigger fish to fry. Do you know what it was like being in a coffin waiting for the end of your life, and you making jokes about it? I'm sick of you and your jokes.
Victor: Well, if it isn't young Hanson.
Hanson: Your son called the squad. He's on his way here now.
Brady: Uh, I actually needed to revise, uh, my statement. This is the good one.
Hanson: So the first was what? What, a lie?
Victor: No, of course not. My grandson just realized he had some of the details wrong. So if you'll just shred that other copy, take it off the computer, whatever you have to do. This is for your, uh, time and trouble.
Victor: Have you and your significant other ever toured the Greek isles? I'm not using my yacht next month. It'd be a shame to have it sit idle.
Brady: It's very nice.
Hanson: Thanks. [Clears throat]
Vivian: Oh, smoothly done, Victor.
Victor: Well, I hope you're happy.
Vivian: I'm getting there.
Bo: Oh... just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse. What rock did you crawl out from under?
Vivian: Why don't you ask your father?
Carly: Hey, Maxine, what's the latest on Melanie and Nathan?
Maxine: [Groans] Temperature's still between 103 and 104, both have headaches, airways are irritated.
Carly: Any difficulty breathing, signs of pneumonia?
Maxine: Not yet.
Carly: I can't... I can't stand this. I have to go in there.
Maxine: Hey, don't go in there, Mama. She needs you too much.
Nathan: I mean, damn it, Melanie, are we friends?
Melanie: Yeah. Yeah. You're the only person who knows how lousy I feel.
Nathan: And I... I mean, we need each other right now.
Melanie: My head feels like it's gonna explode, Nathan.
Nathan: You'll be okay.
Melanie: Yes, as you, uh...
Nathan: Move over.
Nathan: Move over.
Sami: So... was that her, um... fifth glass of water?
Rafe: Eh... I waited till she fell asleep. It's a big day for her.
Sami: She misses Johnny and Sydney, and that's why she's having trouble sleeping. So she figured out something is up.
Rafe: Well, all she was talking about was the wedding and how much fun she had decorating the tree. I think she's okay. How are you?
Sami: I was just thinking about my dad and how many times in his life he's had to clean up my messes.
Rafe: Well... rest assured, he understands what happened. He knows EJ pushed you too far.
Sami: Rafe, he is a cop. And now he has to live with the fact that his daughter tried to murder someone.
Rafe: And he knows why.
Sami: What have I done to my family?
Nicole: EJ... have you thought about what could have happened today?
EJ: You know, I... don't recall inviting you to stay and help yourself to a drink.
Nicole: What if Sami didn't do what was best for those children? What if she kicked and screamed and everybody saw?
EJ: Then she'd go to prison.
Nicole: And what about Johnny? Don't you think he'd be traumatized? Do you really think Sydney would have just dropped off to sleep if it weren't for Sami and for me?
EJ: Don't push your luck.
Nicole: I'm just saying, EJ... you don't just want your children under your roof. You want your children under your roof and happy, and you can't do that alone. Those children are here because of me. And you are gonna change the way you treat me...
Nicole: For their sake. [Chuckles]
Carly: How are you?
Nathan: I'm still the same. But she's worse off than I am.
Will: [Sighs] Okay. That is everything.
Gabi: Um, Will, can I ask you something?
Gabi: Did you get a chance to ask your mom what happened after we left the wedding?
Will: No. My family is actually pretty good at not talking about stuff.
Gabi: I think that EJ was holding something over your mom's head. Is that something that Arianna had? Is that how he was able to get the kids?
EJ: Maybe you are.
Nicole: Maybe I am.
EJ: You know, Samantha was quite remarkable this evening.
Nicole: Yes, I can't wait to talk about how great Sami is.
Nicole: It's been a long time since I could make you laugh.
EJ: I'm in a remarkably good mood. I told you.
Nicole: Uh-huh... [Clears throat] Because you got what you wanted.
EJ: Yes... thanks to you. Thank you.
Nicole: Mm-hmm. And I helped you get what you wanted. And I can also make sure you keep it.
Rafe: Come here, you. Get over here. Penguin.
Rafe: I want you to know something. After everything that's happened tonight... hell, after everything that's happened since I met you. I just want you to know that I... I am so happy that we're finally married.
Sami: We're married. We're actually married. It hasn't even sunk in yet.
Rafe: Oh, well, it will. Yeah. In, like, 20 or 30 years, it'll hit you.
Sami: 20 or 30 years, huh?
Rafe: Mm. Yep. That's when you'll finally realize it. The honeymoon period-- we'll just be getting to know each other.
Sami: And what if I'm in prison? What kind of honeymoon will that be?
Rafe: Listen to me. I really believe this. I don't think God's gonna let that happen to those kids... or you.
Sami: He's let a lot of stuff happen.
Rafe: I know.
Allie: Mommy, I can't sleep.
Sami: I'll be right there, sweetie. She misses Johnny and Sydney.
Bo: According to this, Maggie Horton was walking around the Kiriakis private graveyard in a daze, just as Vivian happened to come back from her vacation. And this is all a coincidence. Why do I find it hard to swallow?
Victor: Your problem. It's the truth.
Brady: It's absolutely the truth.
Bo: [Chuckles] Right. Excuse me. What do you have to do with what happened to Maggie?
Vivian: Oh, not a thing. I'm just a witness. Right, Brady?
Bo: You do realize I will talk to Maggie about all this.
Victor: Uh, we're free to go, then, I take it?
Bo: Get out of here. Not so fast.
Vivian: Why? You have no reason to detain me.
Bo: Why the hell did you come back to Salem?
Vivian: Because I realized Salem is my home, and I have so many plans for the future.
Bo: I'm sure you do. I will be watching you.
Vivian: And I will look forward to it.
Will: Uh... actually, I think that's, um-- that's one of the things that we don't talk about.
Gabi: Ah. Okay, but, will... it's like we're family now... in--in a weird way. If you ever want to talk, I'm here... anytime.
Nicole: Well, I have said my piece. But if you don't get upstairs soon, Johnny will miss his bedtime story.
EJ: And... that's it? Really? You're just gonna make your case and then let it rest? Very restrained.
Nicole: Well, I am the queen of restraint. I'm off, Mr. DiMera. Have a good evening and enjoy... the kids. Enjoy Sami's misery. One more thing...
EJ: There always is, Nicole. There always is.
Nicole: When do I get to see Sydney again?
EJ: [Clears throat] Uh, you can come by tomorrow.
Nicole: Okay. This has been a very good day indeed. Good night. I'll... I'll see you in the morning.
EJ: [Chuckles] Nicole.
Bo: Send Hanson in here.
Hanson: You--you wanted to talk to me, sir?
Bo: Brady Black's statement is five sentences long, which tells me that he wrote it in a hurry... although he was in this room for quite some time, as you told me. And it's no help at all, which leads me to believe that, um... he's covering something up... which tells me that there was an original statement. And he decided to, um... update it.
Hanson: Yeah. Well, your father said that he wrote that first one when he was upset, so it wasn't accurate.
Bo: He did, did he? Well, I would like to read that original statement.
Hanson: It... it no longer exists.
Bo: Because my father told you that's the way I wanted it. Well, he's wrong. Consider what you have in your pocket your severance. You're fired. Now get the hell out of my sight.
Hanson: Yes, sir.
Bo: Son of a bitch. Not again.
Victor: You want a drink?
Victor: That's a first.
Brady: Granddad, look, I just couldn't let you and Philip and Nicole pay for what I started.
Victor: So you said.
Brady: I hope things will work out with you and Maggie.
Victor: Yeah, so do I.
Vivian: Well... Gus, we got off unscathed. But the people who did this to me--it's a very different story for them.
Daniel: I'm on it. I am on the right track.
Carly: I can't imagine how awful you must be feeling... and how scared you must be in there all alone. You don't give up. Daniel and I are working on a treatment. And we won't let you down, I promise you. I have to go back. Daniel needs me. No, honey, I'll be back. I'll be back.
Melanie: [Sniffling] [Crying]
On the next "Days of Our Lives"
Nicole: There's something I have to tell you, and you should hear it from me.
EJ: Don't lie to me.
Daniel: All right, Melanie and Nathan are going to die if I don't help them.
