Victor: Do I have to clarify for you that the reason you were oh, yeah? Well, then explain to me why the mausoleum's had more visitors than the Acropolis?

Nicole: Well, you're in a lovely mood.

Victor: Want a drink? Silly question. Does Nicole want a drink? Does Dracula want blood?

Nicole: Victor, Victor, why so grumpy? Vivian's still buried alive. That's better than whiskers on kittens.

Victor: Not anymore. Now it's become one big, fat liability.

Nicole: Why?

Kate: Because now Kate knows all about it.

Brady: Are you still alive in there?

Vivian: Oh, Lawrence, is that you?

Brady: Sure. Yeah, it's me, Lawrence.

Vivian: Have you taken up painting, darling? I smell paint fumes.

Brady: Guess it won't be long now.

Philip: Brady, someone in here with you?

Brady: No. No, just, uh, visiting my mother's grave.

Philip: Dad was just doing the same thing. Is there some kind of anniversary?

Vivian: Anniversary? Oh. How we danced on the night we were wed.

Brady: Look, let's just get back up to the house. It's weird in here anyway.

Philip: Okay.

Vivian: Philip? Philip, is that you?

Philip: Let me ask you one question though. Why did you ask "are you still alive?"

Vivian: Because I'm in the coffin. Philip, save me, please. Philip.

EJ: [Sighs] Fine. All right, I admit I have feelings for Samantha.

Stefano: Mm. That is an understatement.

EJ: It is also beside the point, Father. At the moment, I'm focused on trying to find this proof that Arianna left me.

Stefano: I know that. So you can have your children back.

EJ: Right.

Stefano: I think that you have an additional motivation, eh? In other words, once you get the proof, you will have Samantha under your control again, hmm? If you want, you could send her to prison.

EJ: Right.

Stefano: Or you could put her back in your bed.

EJ: You know, Father, I think it'd be a really good idea if you just dropped the subject altogether.

Stefano: I knew I was right.

Sami: Um, so since the funeral was near where Rafe and Gabi grew up, we're gonna do a little memorial at the pub when they get back. And, you know, it's just gonna be informal. Some people talking about Arianna. Remembering her.

Roman: Is that okay with Rafe? I mean, I did put Arianna through a lot.

Sami: Rafe knows that you and Arianna got past it. And you could talk about how strong she was.

Roman: Well, I can definitely do that. And you're right, Arianna and I were good. We did get past it.

Sami: Which is more than you can say about Arianna and me. What is that?

Arianna: This is proof, Sami. Proof that you shot EJ in your words.

Sami: [Exhales] I have to find that camera.

[Door unlocks]

Rafe: I was having a hard time... accepting things. That she's gone.

Sami: I'm sorry.

Rafe: Then Gabi took my hand. She whispered to me. She said "Rafe, remember what you told me about the girl and her parents?"

Sami: The girl who has Arianna's heart?

Rafe: Yeah. It was so weird. After she said that to me, it was like Arianna was there in the room with us.

Sami: I'm glad. I'm glad you let Gabi be there for you. 'Cause you're always the strong one. You're always there for everyone else.

Rafe: Eh...

Sami: How's your mom?

Rafe: I don't know. I don't know. I mean, God, Sami, she just lost her kid.

Sami: You know, Rafe, if you need to be with your mom, it's okay.

Rafe: No, no, no, it's all right. She's with Gabi. They're close. I love you.

Sami: I love you too. I love you so much. But let's face it, you would've been so much better off if you had never met me.

EJ: Father, is--is there any way that I can communicate to you that I do not wish to discuss my motivations or my inner feelings, all right?

[Cell phone rings]

EJ: Yes? He did? Great. Thank you. Rafe Hernandez just left Arianna's funeral.

Stefano: You're having him tracked. Why?

EJ: Obviously he wants this evidence just as much as I do. And he has an edge. He knows her better than I do.

Stefano: So you're letting him do the heavy lifting?

EJ: Then I will relieve him of the evidence. Yes. Good plan, don't you think?

Stefano: [Chuckles softly]

Maggie: Hmm, you look frustrated.

Melanie: I want to write something. I want to say something about Arianna because I loved her. Everything I write down sounds so stupid.

Maggie: Some advice... don't write something. Just get up, look at Rafe and Gabi, and tell them how you felt about their sister.

Melanie: I don't talk like you. It won't come out right.

Maggie: Look, Melanie, I've been through this. Rafe and Gabi, they don't want to hear some purple prose. They just--they want to know why you love their sister.

Melanie: You're right. Like always.

Maggie: Well, I'll keep that in mind. So where's Philip?

Melanie: He should be on his way.

Maggie: I know this may sound selfish, but I am so happy the two of you are still staying with me.

Melanie: Me too. It's weird though. 'Cause I kind of thought Victor wanted Philip and me to move in with him.

Maggie: Me too.

Melanie: And now he doesn't want us to move in with him? Something's not right.

Nicole: [Clears throat] Uh... how does she know about Vivian?

Victor: She overheard Brady talking to Arianna.

Kate: I told you about that, sweetheart. How Brady was so brokenhearted. Grief-stricken.

Nicole: Make her shut up.

Kate: And how I thought Arianna was going to haunt him for the rest of his life. Oh, my God, it is just so difficult when your romantic rival is a ghost.

Nicole: You can't make her shut up, can you? She has the upper hand.

Kate: That's right. I know what Brady did. And I also know what lengths Victor will go to to protect him. That's why Victor is my bitch.

Brady: This--this is not the best place to talk.

Philip: You want to get out of here, don't you?

Brady: It's a private place for me.

Philip: Or maybe you don't want to answer my question. Why did you ask "Are you still alive?"

Vivian: Because I am still alive. Oh, save me, please.

Brady: I didn't say that.

Philip: I heard you.

Brady: No, you heard me wrong. I didn't say that. It's embarrassing enough. I come down here. I talk to my mother's grave, all right? But I did not say that.

Philip: Right. Sorry.

Brady: Don't worry about it. Forget it.

Philip: You know, I'm really sorry about Arianna. I never got a chance to say how sorry I was. That was awful.

Brady: It's all right--yeah. Yeah, it was really, really awful. Thank you for that, all right? Can we please get the hell out of here now?

Philip: You know, I know you've been through a lot. Do you want me to call Maggie?

Brady: [Laughs] What--what?

Vivian: What?

Philip: You've been through a lot. I get it. But you don't want to go down that road again, do you?

Brady: [Laughs] Philip, I'm not using, all right?

Philip: You're talking to dead people.

Vivian: No, he's not. I'm alive.

Brady: You know what, I just lost Arianna very recently. I came here to calm down. Now, do you mind if we please get out of here?

Philip: Sure.

Vivian: Philip, don't go, please. I'm begging you, don't go.

Philip: No, but if you're not using, what did you hide in your hand when I came in the door? What'd you hide in your hand?

Brady: Nosy son of a bitch.

Philip: Come on.

Brady: What are you doing? Hey. Hey, give it back. Give it back, man.

Vivian: Philip. Philip, it's me. I'm in the coffin. Please... [Coughs] Save me.

Philip: That's Vivian. You were talking to Vivian?

Rafe: Don't ever say that. Don't. 'Cause the day I met you was the best day of my life.

Sami: Oh, that can't possibly be true.

Rafe: Well, I think that's my call to make, not yours. Now, listen, if you're harboring any feelings of guilt, you shouldn't. EJ's not.

Sami: You don't think he feels guilty about what he's done?

Rafe: [Scoffs] I don't think that guy feels anything at all.

Stefano: Don't you think that Hernandez is going to be looking over his shoulder at you?

EJ: Well, he's gonna have to find the proof or he'll lose his membership to the Sir Galahad club!

Stefano: Ha ha ha.

[Cell phone rings]

EJ: What? He is? That's interesting. And possibly very useful.

Nicole: You know, it's just like you to gloat.

Kate: Thank you.

Nicole: And eavesdropping on someone who's trying to talk to a person who's dying-- isn't there a law against that?

Kate: So sue me.

Victor: Nicole, we're going to try and make the best of a bad situation.

Kate: You know, I think that is so true. We really need to leave the past in the past so we can all enjoy Vivian slowly going mad while she's buried alive.

Philip: Vivian? Vivian, where are you?

Vivian: I've told you, I'm in the sarfumis. The carpisle. Coffee? C--coffin! Oh, it's the fumes, Philip.

Philip: The fumes? You're in a--you said you're in a coffin?

Vivian: Yes, I am. It's right in front of you. And he put me in here. You got to get me out.

Philip: Brady put you in there?

Vivian: Yeah, he's bad.

Philip: And then he comes down and talks to you? On an earphone?

Vivian: B--that's because the damn thing is soundproof.

Philip: And you knew I was next to the coffin because...?

Vivian: 'Cause, uh, I saw you on the miramack. The ca--the--monitor.

Philip: You have a monitor and a microphone in there?

Brady: So here's the big question. Who do you know that would be willing to take the time and effort to trick out a sarcophagus for a premature burial?

Philip: Vivian, I think you've got some explaining to do.

Caroline: Rafe.

Rafe: Hey.

Caroline: I'm so sorry.

Rafe: She loved you, you know.

Caroline: It was mutual. Oh, this is from Doug and Julie. They--they left it when they picked up the kids.

Rafe: Oh, thanks.

Caroline: Okay. Well, I-I got to get back to the kitchen.

Rafe: Irish, right?

Caroline: Yeah.

Rafe: Lots of food and drink?

Caroline: Arianna was Irish spirit.

Rafe: Yes.

Caroline: [Laughs]

Rafe: Our grandmothers have got to meet sometime because she's cool. And Arianna used to always say that they had a lot in common. I really hate talking about her in the past tense.

Melanie: Maggie, Philip's supposed to be here by now. You think something happened at Victor's?

Maggie: At the Kiriakis mansion? Oh, well, what could possibly go wrong there?

Melanie: [Chuckles]

Maggie: [Chuckles]

Victor: You know, I was just thinking... when Vivian does go mad, how can we tell?

Nicole: Hey, does Brady know that she knows?

Victor: No. And Kate agrees we shouldn't tell him.

Kate: Oh, right. Right. That boy, he is much too fragile. You know, my--my head keeps on going back to the bedside scene with Arianna. It just reminded me of--I don't--oh, the end of West Side Story. Only backwards.

Victor: Come on, Kate. Knock it off.

Kate: Well, Victor, I mean, my fear is that Arianna is and always will be the love of Brady's life. I mean, Nicole only got her hooks into him because she knows his dirty little secret.

Nicole: You know, she won't be able to tell anyone anything if I strangle her.

Victor: Well, try to understand, Kate thinks that relationships should be based on trust and mutual respect.

Nicole: Ah.

Victor: Like her relationship with Stefano.

Kate: All right, and that really needs to stop. No more little supposed funny comments about Stefano. You need to stay on my good side. And you... you don't want anyone else to know what Brady did, right?

Philip: Vivian! Did you hear me?

Vivian: I heard. I'll explain everything when I get out of here.

Philip: Oh, damn it. We have to get her out of there.

Brady: Hey, I'm afraid I can't let you do that.

Gabi: It's weird to be here. I keep waiting for Ari to come out of the kitchen.

Sami: This is too much for you.

Gabi: No. I'm--I'm actually really glad you did this.

Sami: Okay, well, why don't you have a seat? Will, get her some water. I got this.

Will: 'Scuse me.

Rafe: Hi.

Maggie: Oh, Rafe, I'm so sorry.

Rafe: Thank you for coming. Melanie.

Melanie: Hey. How you doing?

Rafe: Um, still kind of numb, I guess.

Melanie: Yeah. Feels weird, huh?

Rafe: Yeah.

Melanie: Philip was... Philip and Brady should be here by now. I don't--can you excuse me for a second?

Rafe: Yeah.

Maggie: So how's your mother holding up?

Rafe: Uh, you know, she's with her sister right now and they're very tight. So that's good. I wanted her to come so she could see all these people that loved Ari. But I think...too much for her.

Maggie: Well, maybe later.

Rafe: Yeah.

Roman: Hey. Hey, I'm so sorry.

Rafe: Thanks, Roman. Thanks for coming.

Roman: Arianna was very special. She was pretty incredible. Son of a...

Nicole: Kate. If you've been paid off and Vivian is still very alive, why are you here? Isn't Stefano pining for his soul mate?

Victor: She's still here because she's having too good a time rubbing my nose into her newfound power.

Kate: Oh, my God. That is going to mean an extra half-hour in the gym, but it was worth it. Mm.

Nicole: So are you going now?

Kate: Uh, no. Because, um, I want to talk to you. About Philip.

Philip: Hey, look, nobody knows better than I do what she's like, but we can't just leave her in there.

Brady: We don't have a choice. If she gets out of here, what do you think she's gonna do to your father?

Vivian: He's not worried about Victor. He's just trying to cover his sorry...butt.

Brady: Or the whole family. Philip, come on. Come on. Think about what she's already done, for God sakes.

Philip: That doesn't give us the right to bury her alive.

Brady: Well, that's what she was gonna do to Maggie.

Philip: Maggie? She planned all of this to put Maggie in there?

Vivian: I was kind of hoping that wouldn't come out.

Brady: She took my mother's body and she had it reburied in a pet cemetery, Philip, to make room for one of the best people that we know. And she was--she wasn't just going to bury Maggie alive. All these cameras, all the microphones, everything--she was gonna torture her. She was gonna taunt her while she went crazy in there. I mean, think about it. Can you imagine being buried, having that damn woman's voice in your ear while her face is looming over you? That's what she had planned for Maggie. You let her the hell out of there, and she's gonna get away scot-free and your family's gonna pay out the nose. Is that what you want to happen?

Roman: I'll get rid of him.

Sami: Dad, get him out of here.

Roman: Yeah, I will.

Rafe: No, no, no. Let him stay. Let him listen to the people who loved Arianna. Let him think about everything he's done.

EJ: What I've done, Rafe? Don't think it was me who harassed her into the path of an oncoming car.

Sami: Hey--

Roman: EJ, Rafe says you can stay, you can stay. So why don't you go have a seat, shut up?

Maggie: Could you consider acting like a gentleman?

Rafe: [Mutters]

Sami: Are you sure about this?

Rafe: Yeah, yeah. He's obviously come here hoping to get a rise out of me. I'm not going to give him that satisfaction. Now please, let's just make this about my sister, okay?

Melanie: I can't tell you how many times something stupid would come out of my mouth. And I would think, okay, we're done. Arianna's not gonna be my friend anymore. I don't really have any friends. 'Cause I-I say stupid things without thinking about it. Mean things. She would just laugh. And I don't know how to explain this. Um... Arianna would never pay attention to the words I would say. She would always just kind of know what I meant. [Cries] And I loved her very much. When she smiled, it was like-- it was like the whole room lit up.

Roman: So I'm looking at this girl with her back to the wall. And it is my job to push her as hard as I can. And she would get so mad at me. Her eyes would flash. Then she'd bite her tongue, nod her head, and do whatever job had to be done. And that's when those, uh, Hemingway words would flash through my mind. And I'd say to myself, "Now that--that is grace under pressure." She had a lot of guts, courage. Whatever you want to call it. Arianna was a very brave woman. And it was a privilege to know her.

Caroline: So many people have come and gone through this pub over the years. And I like to think that we keep going because this place really is a--it's about family. And Arianna...just fit from the very beginning. I was at ease with her. And--and she with me. And I had to remind myself, you know, that I hadn't known her for years. Roman was right when he said she had guts. And she also had... great kindness. And that is a wonderful combination.

Gabi: I was always so sure that she'd look after me no matter what that I didn't even think about all the things I said to her. How I acted and how sometimes I'd go a little too far. And, well, she really didn't bite her tongue. But half an hour later, it was like--it was like nothing ever happened. Like nothing could ever change how much we loved each other. I can say that I'm never gonna stop missing her. [Cries]

EJ: I don't think any of us will ever stop missing her. The day she died, she died being a me. And I believe that even after her death, she's still on my side.

Rafe: My sister... she was so full of life. Everything she did, everyone she loved, it was never halfway. And it was always with all of her heart and her soul. And, um, I hope she knew how proud of her I was and how much I loved her. I really hope she knew that.

Maggie: See, I told you. You were wonderful. And I could see it meant the world to Rafe and Gabi.

Melanie: Yeah, well, we're gonna have to have another service.

Maggie: What?

Melanie: Philip and Brady. There's no reason they shouldn't be here.

Maggie: Well, why don't you wait to see what happened before you judge them?

Melanie: That's no fun.

Roman: Ma.

Caroline: Mm-hmm?

Roman: I got a missed call from Kayla. You know what that's about?

Caroline: Oh, well, I suppose she just called to say good-bye.

Gabi: It was weird. I was listening to you and I thought "Wow, she's so talking about my sister."

Melanie: And I liked what you said. You're so lucky to have a big sister like that.

Gabi: I didn't know that then. I do now.

Maggie: We're gonna be going, Will, okay?

Will: Yeah, fine.

Maggie: Take it easy.

Roman: Will and I are gonna go pick up the kids at Doug and Julie's, okay?

Caroline: Yeah, I'll go with you. Be nice to hold a baby after all this sadness.

Will: Yeah, that's right. Um, do you want me to stay with you?

Gabi: No, I'm fine. I think Rafe and I are gonna go take a walk. I'll see you later.

Will: Okay.

Caroline: You remember what I said now. You can stay as long as you like.

Gabi: Thank you. Hearing what everybody had to say really helped me.

Sami: Oh.

Gabi: What's wrong?

Sami: Here we go again.

Rafe: Well, it's over. You can go.

EJ: I just, um, I just wanted to find out whether you found the rosary.

Rafe: I said you can go.

EJ: Oh, I'm going. I just would like a quick word with Samantha first.

Rafe: And that ain't gonna happen.

Melanie: Philip, where the hell are you?

Vivian: Philip, there's no proof I was going to do anything to Maggie.

Philip: The proof is you, Vivian. Your history. What you tried to do to Melanie. What you did do to Carly.

Vivian: Darling, all I did was love and protect you and give you life.

Brady: Why don't we go back up to the house and talk to Grandfather about this?

Philip: No point in sticking around here.

Vivian: No, Philip, don't go, please. Please. Oh, members of this family won't let anything go.

Rafe: I don't think it would be that difficult to expand the restraining order to include Sami.

Sami: You want me to call my dad?

EJ: Oh, please, call the cavalry. I don't care, Samantha. Once I find the proof Arianna has for me, it's over.

Kate: Actually, I should rephrase that. I wanted to talk to you privately about Philip.

Nicole: Aw. And here I thought we were one, big, happy family. Fine. I'll go check on Brady.

Kate: Well, I'm sure he's at Arianna's memorial. I mean, the way he felt about her, he would not miss that--that deep, abiding love he had for her.

Nicole: Watch it, you old harpy, or I'll shove you in that box with Vivian.

Kate: Ha.

Brady: What's she doing here?

Victor: She was just leaving.

Nicole: She knows about Vivian.

Victor: Damn it, Nicole!

Brady: I'm sorry. What? What?

Nicole: He has a right to know, Victor. I won't let you infantilize him.

Victor: Listen, you booze-soaked, money-grubbing, baby-swapping whore, I've had about enough of you for one day.

Brady: Hey, number one, don't talk to her like that. Number two, why would you tell this woman about Vivian?

Victor: I didn't, you did.

Brady: What are you ta-- I didn't tell her anything.

Victor: Next time you pour your heart out to a dying person, make sure you're alone.

Kate: Oh, my God, I have missed this place.

[Footsteps approach]

Kate: Philip, what are you doing here?

Philip: I could ask you the same thing.

Vivian: Philip, come back. Come back, Shane. Oh. That Alan Ladd, he was a cutie. Wonder if I'll ever meet him. Meet him? Oh, Viv. I think you're officially gaga. Oh.

Victor: I have the sick feeling--

Philip: That I know about Vivian? I do.

Victor: I'm gonna have to build a bigger mausoleum.

Philip: You know what was weird, when I realized what was happening, that she was literally buried alive, I didn't think, I just wanted to jump up, get her out, and save her. But then--

Kate: She talked.

Philip: Yes!

Kate: I know. You hear that voice.

Victor: And those inane arguments.

Brady: And the whine she makes when she's trying to be nice.

Nicole: When she snarls at you.

Philip: And you just can't bring yourself to let her back into the world.

Victor: It's like Pandora's box.

Philip: And after what she did to Melanie, she can stay in that box and rot.

Vivian: Philip.

Philip: I actually feel very close to you all at this moment.

Nicole: I think that calls for a toast.

Vivian: I'm... seeing things. Or was I? Hello? Anyone out there?

Kate: Well, to Vivian. May she get everything she so richly deserves.

Brady: Hear, hear.

Nicole: Cheers.

Vivian: What was that? Oh, my God. It's the sweet by-and-by. [Gasps] Oh, nice work, Vivian. You're going into the light and you've taken his name in vain.

Victor: There were icy fingers around my heart when I looked at Vivian and heard myself saying "I do." But like all contracts, marriage has an escape clause. "Till death do us part."

Brady: Hear, hear.

Philip: Hear, hear.

Kate: Hear, hear.

Vivian: I don't think I'm dead. I think I'm free. I'm--oh, thank you, Philip. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Sami: This isn't like you, EJ. You're posturing. What, you've got nothing, so you're just sputtering a bunch of nonsense?

EJ: How--how do you do it, Samantha? His sister's dead because of you.

Sami: [Scoffs]

EJ: And yet he's still your little lap dog. I don't quite under--

Rafe: That's it.

Sami: EJ, you have--no, no. Rafe, he's just trying to fight with you, come on.

Rafe: Well, maybe he's gonna get what he wants, huh?

Justin: Rafe, Rafe, I wouldn't do that if I were you. Sami's right, that would be playing into his hand.

EJ: [Chuckles] The voice of reason.

Justin: Now if you'd all just settle down, I need to talk to you. Gabi, you too.

Gabi: What's going on?

Justin: Well, I was Arianna's lawyer. So I need to talk to you about her will and some things that she left behind.

Sami: What's in the box?

On the next "Days of Our Lives" --

Melanie: Tell me what happened and be honest with me.

Chad: Whoever this is, they're gonna pay.

Sami: No one wants you here, you son of a bitch.
