Brady: Hey, Viv. You're not gonna get away with this. This is gonna eat you up and destroy you.

Melanie: Brady! Hey.

Brady: Hey.

Melanie: Henderson said you'd be down here.

Brady: Yeah, how you doing? Were you looking for me or...

Melanie: Yeah. I just haven't really seen a lot of you since you and Arianna broke up. So I was wondering if you were okay?

Brady: Uh, no. No, I, uh, I'm not okay.

Daniel: Wow. So sorry I have to work today.

Chloe: Oh, right. You mean you don't want to eat finger sandwiches and watch me open up presents? Or play fun games like "How many words can you make out of 'umbilical cord'"?

Daniel: Boy, I hate to pass that up.

Chloe: Can you take me with you, please? I'm dreading this.

Daniel: Yeah, why?

Chloe: Well, Nicole found out about the shower, and I had to invite her.

Daniel: Is that a problem?

Chloe: Well, it is for Melanie. When we were making up the guest list, I suggested Nicole, and she said if she were here that all the other women would start throwing things at her.

Daniel: Uh-oh.

Chloe: Yeah, and Carly and Maggie are gonna be here, and I really don't want a scene.

Daniel: It's a baby shower. How bad can it be? And when I get home, we will have a shower of our own. And there won't be any words at all.

Chloe: Mmm, promise?

Daniel: Promise you.

Arianna: Hello. All right, we're gonna start with this arm today. Um, there wasn't anything in the newspaper. So I went to the police department to see if they had any idea who might have done this to you.

Stefano: I said I had news about William. You don't seem anxious to hear it.

Kate: Because I could tell from your face it wasn't good news. The usual?

Stefano: Yes. Pour yourself one, because after you hear what I have to say, you're gonna want one.

[Phone rings]

Nathan: Uh-oh. You wanna get that?

Stephanie: No.

Nathan: No? You sure?

Stephanie: Mm-hmm.

Nathan: Could be your little friend Ian.

Stephanie: You really want to waste this time talking about Ian?

Nathan: Why not? Talk about how madly in love he is with you.

Stephanie: No, he's not.

Nathan: Oh, please. Come on, I swear he sneaks in here to break your computer just so he can fix it.

Stephanie: My computer problems are my fault. I admit, I went a little crazy about it, but that's why Ian was here all the time. But all that's over now.

Nathan: Hmm. You sure?

Stephanie: Mm-hmm. I can't control the bad things that happen in my life. Stuff happens.

Nathan: Yeah. Sometimes it's the good stuff.

Chloe: [Chuckles]

Nicole: [Clears throat] Hey, kids.

Daniel: Hey.

Nicole: So good news. I talked to the FBI, and they said that EJ is out of commission for now. And Stefano has dropped the idea that I'm the one who shot EJ. So they're gonna cancel the guards outside.

Daniel: Well, that's great.

Chloe: Yeah.

Nicole: And I'm--I'm gonna move back to my old place. So you'll have your love nest to yourselves tonight.

Chloe: Oh, does that mean that you're gonna miss the shower? I would totally understand.

Nicole: What? Heck no! Of course, I'm coming. I have the greatest gift. And those broads are gonna be green when they see what I got you.

Daniel: All right, I better go. I will see you later.

Chloe: Okay.

Daniel: All right. You ladies have fun at--bye-- at the shower.

Chloe: Okay. [Sighs] So you must be really relieved. But you still look kinda sad.

Nicole: Chloe, being here, being scared of the DiMeras, it's just it kept me from thinking about the mess I made with Brady. And now I'm moving back to one room and a life without Brady in it. Chloe, what am I gonna do now?

Kate: Okay. Tell me.

Stefano: I believe that the person who shot Elvis could not be William. Cause for celebration, yes? Salud.

Kate: Well--

Nathan: All right, can we take this to the bedroom? 'Cause I don't want to show up to the hospital with rug burns again.

[Knocking at door]

Stephanie: The pizza.

Nathan: No, go away! We're not hungry anymore!

Stephanie: No, stop that. I'm starving. Wait, I'll be right back.

Nathan: Okay, fine, me too.

Kayla: Surprise.

Stephanie: Mom?

Chloe: Come on, sit. You know, I--I really am sorry about Brady. I don't know what else to say.

Nicole: You are lucky to have a guy like Daniel.

Chloe: I know that. I tell myself that about, oh, once an hour.

Nicole: Well, you should. I mean, look at you. You have the guy and the baby.

Chloe: Yeah. Even though I cheated on that guy because I thought he was cheating on me. You know that famous insecurity of mine? Definitely my worst enemy.

Nicole: Yeah, well, the baby's Daniel's. And no one's ever gonna find out about it.

Chloe: I hope.

Nicole: I made one mistake with Brady, and he dumped me like nuclear waste. These guys with ethics and morals, they can really break your heart.

Melanie: Well, you don't look good. So why haven't I heard from you in a while?

Brady: When Arianna and I broke up, I, uh, I thought Nicole might be the answer, and I knew you would hate that.

Melanie: Great, well, obviously, because she broke you two up.

Brady: Hey, take it easy. It's over now.

Melanie: Good. That's good.

Carly: Honey. Oh, I get it.

Brady: Get what?

Carly: Melanie called me and asked me to meet her at the mausoleum, and I was concerned but now I see that you're here, so...

Brady: Yeah, I--I was just having a little visit with mom. That's all.

Carly: I was here this morning. I still miss her so much.

Brady: I miss her too, and I didn't even really get a chance to know her.

Vivian: The two of you make me want to hurl. Exchanging sympathetic remembrances of Isabella when one of you locked me in here and the other one killed Lawrence.

Melanie: Is that why you feel bad? This, it all reminds you of your mom?

Vivian: Go on, Brady. Tell little Melanie what you're up to.

Brady: Yeah, I guess. I think this thing just makes me think about everything I lost, you know? I hope you guys know how lucky you are.

Carly: Oh, we do, right?

Melanie: Yeah.

Brady: I'm happy for you. You fought back. And you didn't let Vivian win.

Arianna: So the police department has no idea who might have shot you. Switching. All right. But, I mean, are we really surprised? They couldn't even figure out that one of their own was doing those muggings. They just wanted it to be me. You believed me. And that's something that I will always remember. I'm not gonna stop until I find out who did this to you. You have my word.

Stefano: You're not drinking. Don't you want to celebrate William's innocence?

Kate: Well, I never for one moment thought that he did it. I'm just glad that you finally agree with me.

Stefano: Ah. So now that that unpleasant problem has been handled, we can spend some time talking about you and me.

Kate: You and me?

Stefano: What's going on between us, Katherine? Really?

Carly: I got an email from Vivian today.

Melanie: You did?

Brady: That's pretty wild.

Melanie: What did it say?

Carly: Vintage Vivian. Something along the lines of, "I have to leave town because of my broken marriage, but I'm still out to get you."

Melanie: I don't like that.

Carly: I don't like it either.

Brady: Well, you know what? My grandfather thinks she's gone for good. So I think you and everybody else in this town can pretty much forget they ever knew Vivian Alamain.

Vivian: No! No! No.

Daniel: Mr. Burnett?

Ian: Mr. Burnett is my dad. Please call me Ian.

Daniel: Okay, Ian. I'm Dr. Jonas.

Ian: Dr. Jonas? Dr. Daniel Jonas?

Daniel: Uh, yeah, that's right, yeah. Have we met?

Ian: Uh, no. I saw your name in the paper a while back.

Daniel: Oh, yeah, yeah. I did a facial reconstruction over at St. Mary's.

Ian: Yeah, that was it.

Daniel: So your chart says that you wiped out on your motorcycle and you requested a surgeon to stitch your arm up.

Ian: Yeah, I'm vain. What can I say?

Daniel: All right, well, that shouldn't be a problem. Let me just go get a nurse, and she'll set us up.

Ian: I feel kinda bad for the guy who thinks he's the dad, you know?

Stephanie: Me too. And Dr. Jonas happens to be a really good guy. But, I mean, he wants this baby more than anything. So it's good for everyone.

Ian: Dr. Jonas. Uh, I didn't just read about you in the paper. I heard about you... from Stephanie Johnson.

Stephanie: Why didn't you tell me that you were coming?

Kayla: Well, it was sort of a spur-of-the-moment decision.

Stephanie: Did you bring Joe?

Kayla: Yes, of course, I brought him.

Stephanie: Oh, I can't wait to see him. Wait, is everything okay? Is Pop okay?

Kayla: No, he's fine. He didn't come because he said he thought this was a woman thing.

Stephanie: What is?

Kayla: Baby, your Aunt Adrienne called me. She thinks you need your mom.

Chloe: Are you gonna be okay?

Nicole: Sure. You know me. Listen, I have to go get my gift. Is there anything else you need for this little shindig?

Chloe: No, I think that Melanie and Carly have it pretty much covered.

Nicole: Yeah. Wouldn't they just?

Chloe: Hey, be nice. The three of us are finally getting along. But if you really want to do something--

Nicole: Oh, name it, name it. What?

Chloe: You know what, I actually don't think we have enough soda. Do you think you could pick some up?

Nicole: Yes, I'm on it.

Chloe: Perfect. You're a lifesaver. All right, I think I'm gonna lay down for just a minute.

Nicole: Okay.

[Knock at door]

Nicole: Oh, Melanie.

Melanie: What are you doing here?

Nicole: I've been staying with Chloe and Daniel.

Melanie: Oh, have you set your sights on Daniel now?

Nicole: [Fake chuckle] Uh, no, Chloe's my best friend.

Melanie: Well, Arianna's my best friend, and she's miserable now thanks to you. So excuse me.

Nicole: Oh, well, you can go ahead and tell Arianna that if she's wished anything bad to happen to me, it's happened. So why don't you go be grateful for your rich little husband and your doting doctor parents, okay? And leave me alone.

Melanie: Oh, Chloe, you better find yourself a new best friend, 'cause the one you have now is a bitch.

Kate: Why do you want to talk about us?

Stefano: You are my wife, Katherine. I must be able to trust you.

Kate: Well, I want to be able to trust you as well.

Stefano: Mm-hmm. And if I had told you that I had proof that William shot Elvis?

Kate: Then I would have begged you not to hurt him.

Stefano: And what if your begging had fallen on deaf ears? What would you have done?

Kate: If you had chosen to go after Will, I told you I would have done anything just to protect him.

Stefano: I see.

Kate: Did you really expect me to do anything less?

Stefano: I suppose not.

Kate: We're together, you and I, because we're alike.

Stefano: Lately I've been wondering if you think of me as some kind of ruthless barbarian.

Kate: I married you because I think of you as a man of great strength, great passion.

Stefano: And because I have evidence that can send you to prison.

Kate: I think about that less and less now.

Stefano: So do I. You have been my partner every day since we got married. I don't want that to end. And I don't want to hurt you. Or cause you pain of any kind.

Kate: I believe you. I feel the same way.

Daniel: So how do you know Stephanie?

Ian: We went to college together. I was asking her about her job, and she was talking about the people that she works with.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Ian: And she mentioned you.

Daniel: She's a great girl.

Ian: Believe me, I know. But she has a boyfriend.

Daniel: I'm sorry about that.

Ian: I'll always be there for Stephanie. No matter who else is in her life.

Stephanie: Look, I'm sorry Aunt Adrienne got you all worried, but I think she just wanted to see you and used me as an excuse to get you here.

[Cell phone rings]

Nathan: Oh. Ah. Duty calls. It's good to see you, Dr. Johnson. I'll--are you gonna be staying a while with us?

Kayla: Well, just till I know my baby girl's all right.

Nathan: Well, to me, she is pretty much perfect. Bye.

Kayla: You know, you may have got him fooled, but not me. What's going on?

Chloe: Maggie, hi. Thanks for coming.

Maggie: Oh, I wouldn't have missed it. Oh, my goodness gracious. I know how happy you and Daniel are about this baby. Congratulations.

Chloe: Thank you. Come in.

Melanie: Maggie, I'm so glad you came.

Carly: Melanie was afraid you were gonna be away.

Maggie: Oh, I couldn't leave, not just yet anyway. There is just too much happiness in Salem these days.

Nicole: Wait a minute, what do you mean it's not ready? The baby shower is today. Okay, so what? Yes, I gave you the wrong date, okay? But how hard is it to engrave, "To my best friend"? You know what, I don't want it anymore. You can eat it for all I care. Ugh. Unbelievable. Brady, hi. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Please don't leave. I--I need to talk to you.

Brady: What about?

Nicole: Well, how are you? I-- I miss you.

Brady: What are you doing?

Nicole: I blew it, okay? I know I was coming off a really bad time and I did some terrible things, things that you would never do in a million years, okay, I know, but I-- I did them because--because I was so damn desperate to be happy.

Brady: Nicole, I don't want to do this right--I don't want-- not today. I'm not in the mood for this.

Nicole: I'm not trying to get you to give me another chance, all right? But can't you just understand? Haven't you done something totally crazy because--because you couldn't stand the way it was?

Vivian: Could you just let go of my wrist, please?

Brady: No, I don't think so. You didn't know what you were gonna do with me, did you? And look it, I have the same problem with you right now. Yeah. As a matter of fact, I have.

Will: Hey, EJ. I hear you said my mom's name. Does that mean you're waking up? And if it does... what is that gonna mean to my mom?

Melanie: Hey, come in.

Arianna: Thanks.

Melanie: Um, you guys, this is Arianna Hernandez.

Carly: Hi.

Melanie: You know Maggie, my mom, Chloe. This is Maxine. She works at the hospital with Chloe and Daniel.

Arianna: Nice to meet you.

Maxine: Nice to meet you.

Melanie: I'll take your present, and you can grab some punch or some wine.

Maggie: I got some for you.

Melanie: Thank you, perfect. Okay, does everybody have their baby pictures? We're gonna guess who is who.

Chloe: Uh, you know what, we can't start yet 'cause not everyone's here.

Melanie: Uh, who's not here?

Chloe: Uh, Nicole.

Arianna: She's invited?

Chloe: Yeah, she happens to be a good friend of mine.

Arianna: Oh, gosh, I'm really sorry, but I don't think that I can be in the same room with her.

Chloe: I'm really sorry.

Arianna: As a matter of fact, I think you're, like, the only person who can even stand her.

Chloe: I am? Oh. Guess I am. You know, Nicole's going through a really hard time right now. She knows she's made a lot of mistakes, but she knows how important this is to me. So could you please try to welcome her when she comes here?

Nicole: Something's funny?

Brady: Yeah, it just hit me. All those times you were telling me--you and Grandfather were telling me that Arianna was no good for me, truth is I wasn't good enough for her.

Nicole: Well, that's not true.

Brady: But you and I are different. I think we kinda deserve each other in a weird sorta way. I mean, we have some really great traits in common. I think that's why we keep bumping into each other in bars in the middle of the day.

Nicole: Brady, we both know that I'm not good enough for you. But I'll try. If you give me a chance.

Brady: Look, I'm glad you're sitting down right now, because there's something I need to say to you. I don't think I can trust you, and I don't put a lot of weight into your promises.

Nicole: I get that.

Brady: And if you need proof as to how much I don't want to deal with you, I'm gonna leave right now without having a drink.

Stephanie: I just don't understand why you didn't call first. 'Cause then I coulda told you that Aunt Adrienne was overreacting.

Kayla: Well, you know I love Africa, but the pizza there stinks.

Stephanie: You come all this way because you're worried about me, and you're talking about pizza?

Kayla: No. I'm just waiting for you to calm down so we can talk.

Stephanie: Okay, I'm calm. What do you want to talk about?

Kayla: Well, why don't we start with this mysterious guy that your aunt saw you with.

Ian: That didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would.

Daniel: It will once the numbing agent wears off. So why don't I write you a prescription for some painkillers and some antibiotics. You know what, I think I left my pad at the nurse's station. So I'll be right back. Okay.

Stephanie: What if it was Daniel who switched the results?

Maxine: So after about 14 hours of labor, her husband comes to her talking about, "Honey, don't forget to breathe." Girl, I had to move fast. Her hands were just about around his neck. And then the baby was born, and everything was fine.

Maggie: Um, you know I've made an observation about life.

Carly: I love observations about life, good.

Maggie: Oh, good. You know, once a woman starts talking about labor, it's as hard to get her to stop as it is to stop a man giving directions.

Carly: Yeah.

Maggie: Yes.

Melanie: Okay.

Arianna: Can I...

Melanie: Oh, yeah.

Arianna: Okay. I just--I'm really sorry, what I said earlier about Nicole. If I see her, I'll just steer clear of her. No problem, I'm sorry.

Chloe: It's okay. I know you don't like her, and I totally understand. But, you know, she knows how important this shower is to me, and she's gonna be on her best behavior. She's even out right now buying some soda.

Melanie: We need more soda?

Chloe: Well, I just wanted to make sure that we had some extra, but she is taking her sweet time doing it.

Nicole: Garcon! Un autre, s'il vous plait. And keep 'em coming. I don't really know "keep 'em coming" in French. I don't really know a lot of French, except for what you just heard, but I know "another round" in 13 languages. Another round. That's in English. Where are you, garcon? Garcon? [Sighs] You probably alienated him, Nicole. Oh. You're good at that. World-class. Vying for the gold medal in alienating people is Nicole Walker DiMera. [Imitates cheering] Representing the United States of America. [Imitates cheering] [Sighs] It's a little drunk out. What should I do now? I know. I'll call me a cab and go to a baby shower.

Stefano: [Sighs]

Kate: Thank you. Darling.

Stefano: Yes, dear?

Kate: Okay. You said that you came to believe that Will did not shoot EJ, right?

Stefano: That's right.

Kate: Because you know what kind of boy he is? Or because you believed me when I said he didn't do it?

Stefano: That's how much I trust you.

Kate: Ah. I know how much you trust me. That's why I know that you didn't just come to believe he didn't do it. I know you have proof that he didn't do it.

Stefano: I pulled out the drawer that the gun was in, and I gave it to my DNA guy.

Kate: God, it's so comforting to be married to someone who has a DNA guy.

Stefano: William never touched that drawer.

Kate: Thank God.

Stefano: So you gonna ask me who did?

Kayla: Ugh, ugh.

Stephanie: I mean, you don't find it a little offensive that my aunt calls my mom to tell her that I'm hanging out with an old friend from college?

Kayla: I can see that he's no big deal.

Stephanie: The big deal is feeling like I'm being spied on.

Kayla: You know what, Stephanie, I'm not here for just you. You know, my best friend, my brother's wife is in jail. My other brother's daughter, your cousin Sami, just found out that her ex-husband is the one that kidnapped her baby. I have other people to worry about.

Stephanie: Right.

Kayla: So even though I will be butting into your life and making you crazy, it won't be 24/7 because I have other people's lives that I need to interfere with.

Stephanie: So are you staying for a while?

Kayla: You don't think I came 14 hours for a pizza party, do you?

Stephanie: Well, listen, now that I'm calm, I'm really glad you're here. I've missed you so much.

Kayla: I've missed you too, baby.

Stephanie: Oh, wait, I have an idea. Sit down. We have an extra bedroom. You and Joey can stay with us.

Kayla: No, no, no. I'm sure that Nathan wasn't whispering in your ear, "Please, please, please, have your mother and her baby come stay here." I mean, that is really every man's dream.

Stephanie: No, it would be fun.

Kayla: No, no, no, we are staying with your grandmother.

Stephanie: Seriously, it would be no problem, Mom. Just--it would give you a chance to see that I'm happy and that everything's okay.

Kayla: Yeah?

Stephanie: Yeah.

Kayla: So you're not worried about Melanie and Nathan any longer?

Nathan: Ian.

Ian: Nathan, hi.

Nathan: Hey. Heard you were in an accident. Everything okay?

[Cheers and applause]

Melanie: All right, okay, the next game that we're gonna play is truth or dare.

Maggie: Oh, boy.

Carly: Ooh, love that one.

Melanie: Yeah, okay, so all the questions are based off of the life of the guest of honor. So I will start. Who's never been to an opera? I've only been to one, but that's because I met this really rich guy in Rome who convinced me that if I went to the opera with him that--

Carly: Oh, oh, honey, I think we don't need to say anything more.

Maggie: Thank God this child came into our lives.

Carly: Oh, totally.

Melanie: Arianna?

Arianna: Nope. No operas for me.

Chloe: Yes, you have. We double dated, remember? We saw Tosca.

Arianna: Yes, you're right.

Melanie: You fell asleep through it too?

Arianna: It was actually Brady who fell asleep, so... kind of a hard time to talk about.

Melanie: Sure. Okay, moving along. Uh, who--

Nicole: You started the party without me? What's the matter with you?

Vivian: Bad enough to be trapped in here. I had to witness that nauseating display between Carly and Melanie. Oh, when I get outta here, I'm gonna get rid of both of them in the most horrible way possible.

Brady: When you get outta here? Don't you mean, "If you get outta here"?

Stefano: My fingerprints and Elvis' were all over that desk, the drawer, the keys, everything. There were also a lot of other people's fingerprints on that desk, including yours. But William's were not. However, Samantha's were.

Kate: Oh. Well, Sami lived in the house. But she has an alibi. She was with Rafe all night.

Stefano: Oh, come on. At this point Rafe would say anything to protect Samantha. Would he not?

Will: So I've been thinking. I have watched my mom go through hell for the past year because of you. And I don't want her to pay for protecting her children. I want you to pay. There's nothing left for you, man. You're done. So just stop fighting. It would be best for everyone if you died.

Ian: Look, I don't know what you want from me.

Nathan: It just seems like every time I turn around, there you are.

Daniel: Hey, Nathan. Well, here's your prescription. You can pick it up at the pharmacy downstairs.

Ian: Will do.

Daniel: All right. That's where I left that thing.

Nathan: See ya.

Ian: Can I go now?

Daniel: Uh, just a minute. Now remember, if the wound gets red or swollen, you run a fever, you call me.

Ian: Okay. Hey, Nathan's not on my case, is he?

Daniel: No.

Ian: So he just came in here to bug me.

Daniel: Well, uh, here's a bitter pill. Leave him and his girlfriend alone.

Stephanie: No, no, I'm not worried about Melanie and Nathan anymore. Nathan makes me happy. He loves me. It's all good. I mean, he's over Melanie. Melanie's over him. Everything's good.

Kayla: Great.

Stephanie: I'm gonna go get my purse so we can go to Grandma's.

Kayla: I'm not buying that. Adrienne was right. You got trouble.

Vivian: You've got me trapped in here like a wild animal. You at least could give me some privacy.

Brady: No, no privacy for you. Your secrets get people killed, Vivian.

Vivian: So will yours if you don't let me out of here. You're gonna end up in prison for the rest of your life. You'll be ruined.

Brady: You know, I disagree, and I'll tell you why. Something happened to me today. I actually went inside a bar and I didn't order a drink. I didn't even have a drink. I mean, Vivian, that doesn't happen to me. I'm thinking that keeping you in here is the best therapy I ever had.

Melanie: Well, it looks like somebody's already had her own party.

Nicole: Hey, Arianna, long time no see. Ooh, I got a good party game. Yo, homegirl, let's talk about our prison experiences.

Chloe: Nicole.

Melanie: Okay, let's have a party in the kitchen. I'll make you some coffee.

Nicole: Wait, you think I won't act like a lady, right?

Melanie: No, I just don't want you to ruin Chloe's party.

Nicole: Oh. The disappointment in your voice, like you're better than I am, all married and demure and everything. Having baby showers and passing teacups.

Melanie: Keep it down.

Nicole: Let's relax, Mel. Okay, I will behave myself. And I promise that I won't tell anyone that you were once a cheap little--

Carly: Everything all right?

Nicole: Says the villainess sleeping with the married man.

Carly: Let's get some air. Come on.

Nicole: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Ushering me out. Yes, clearly I am not good enough for this refined company.

Chloe: Nicole, stop it right now.

Nicole: What, Chloe, you're one of them now, right? What, butter wouldn't melt, soon-to-be-married woman, doting mother.

Chloe: I want you to go.

Nicole: Okay. We won't talk about what you did to Daniel. We'll just skip right over that one. What he doesn't know won't kill him, right?

Melanie: What did you just say?

Nicole: Hmm?

On the next "Days of Our Lives" --

Kate: If you know something, you have to tell me. You have to.

Sami: Tell me you believe me. Will didn't do it.

Melanie: Daniel deserves to know the truth.
