Smith: Yeah, yeah, she spent a fairly comfortable night in the infirmary.
Bo: And she's safe for now?
Smith: And she suffered no serious injuries.
Bo: This time.
Smith: That is why I called you. The word is out among the general population that Hope is a cop, and yet she's refusing any additional security.
Bo: Well, she's not calling the shots anymore. I am.
Brady: I don't care how long he's been with the company. I haven't heard a fresh idea out of his mouth or his team's for about a year now. Oh, excuse me, I'll tell you what I want you to do. I want you to fire him. I want you to fire his team, effective immediately. No, no, I do not want you to have H.R. find his replacement first. Just do it. Just fired Bob Norman.
Victor: Without discussing it with me?
Brady: Are you mad?
Victor: I started to get mad. And then I thought, who fires an employee of 20 years without even talking to him first? Then I said, me. I would do that. Firing Bob is gonna wake up that whole division. Good work.
Brady: Thanks. Showtime.
Maggie: Thank you, Henderson. I'll just wait in the living room. Oh, Henderson thought you were upstairs.
Victor: Yes, well, he'll figure it out. What brings you?
Maggie: This. I went back to the mausoleum because I was worried about Brady, and I found it there. I've seen Vivian wearing these earrings. They're worth a fortune.
Victor: Well, it's her problem.
Maggie: She has run herself ragged trying to turn you into the husband that she wants you to be. So what, she just gave up and blew town in a hurry and didn't realize that she had left this expensive piece of jewelry behind? That doesn't seem odd to you?
Philip: Hey, Mom, can you call me as soon as you get this? I know it's early, but I need to see you as soon as possible. It's about Vivian.
Carly: I love you. And I am gonna be here to help you every step of the way.
Carly: Oh. I miss you, old friend. There's so many things I want to talk to you about. And I'm sorry I haven't been by more often. It's just that I still have a problem with places where people get buried. What do you think of this fancy casket Vivian got you? It's kind of like a souped up car with all the chrome and magnesium rims, and-- I'm sorry she disturbed you. Nobody deserves to rest in peace more than you. And now the place where you're gonna spend eternity just screams of Vivian Alamain.
Vivian: Because I'm in the damn sarcophagus, you stupid cow. Help me! Damn it, help me!
Stefano: I'll want the results as soon as possible.
Kate: Oh, was someone here?
Stefano: The person who is helping me find out who shot Elvis, so I can deal with this in my own way.
Kate: Just don't let that person be Will.
Rafe: Just wondering if you're okay.
Will: Actually, I'm not.
Lexie: You called out Sami's name, EJ. Why? What were you trying to tell me? Come on, EJ, talk to me. Come on.
Abe: Hey. Hi.
Abe: I ran into Maxine, and she said you were in here.
Lexie: Hi, sweetheart, yeah. Did you get Theo to therapy in time?
Abe: Yeah, we just made it.
Lexie: Good. I'm sorry to have to pull you away from work, but I just felt like I ought to stay with EJ.
Abe: Yeah. Any changes?
Lexie: He spoke to me last night, a little.
Abe: Well, that's good, isn't it?
Lexie: Yeah, yeah. He said Sami's name.
Abe: That's it?
Abe: Well, it's not gonna do him any good to call out her name. After what he did, Sami's out of his life.
Rafe: You want to talk about it?
Will: I don't want to get into this with you. Not again.
Rafe: Okay, fine.
Will: So how are Johnny and Allie this morning?
Rafe: Actually, they're horrible. Johnny keeps asking your mom why he can't go visit EJ in the hospital.
Will: Wait until he finds out that his dad's not in the hospital because he's sick.
Rafe: Right. You think she should tell him the truth?
Will: My mom, she's not-- she's not big on leveling with people.
Rafe: Yeah. What does that mean?
Will: Will you quit jumping on everything I say?
Rafe: I'm sorry, I'm not. I'm just trying to get a handle on what it is you're going through right now.
Will: You want to know what I'm going through?
Will: I hate it. I want it over with. All of it.
Kate: This man that you hired to track the person who shot EJ, did you tell him that you had suspicions?
Stefano: What do you mean, Katherine?
Kate: You know exactly what I mean. Does this hired goon know that you think my grandson shot your son? Because I know that's what you believe.
Stefano: I told him what I thought he needed to know.
Kate: Yes. Well, of course, you did. And what if he confirms that Will is the one?
Stefano: Well... let's hope that's not the case.
Victor: Vivian finally came to her senses and left. I don't care if she left behind the ruby slippers, as long as she's gone.
Maggie: I just think it's strange to lose an earring in a mausoleum.
Victor: For you, yes. But not for Vivian, who's been spending the last three weeks in a mausoleum. I wouldn't be surprised if she put in a kitchen, installed a washer-dryer.
Maggie: Well, you could at least send the earring to her for old time's sake.
Victor: Yeah, sure.
Maggie: You do know where she is, right?
Victor: Well, she wasn't sure where she was going to land. But as soon as she lets me know, I'll send her the earring, along with everything else that she might have left behind. Believe me, I'll be thorough. I want nothing of that woman remaining in this house.
Victor: Where are you going?
Victor: Don't you think we need to talk?
Maggie: About what?
Victor: The real reason Vivian left.
Vivian: It's about time you showed your face.
Brady: Good morning, Vivian. Did you have pleasant dreams?
Vivian: You wouldn't be so impudent if you knew who was standing right nearby.
Brady: Who would that be?
Vivian: The one person who's gonna figure out what's wrong here. She's having a nice heart-to-heart chat with your late, lamented mother. You thought I was crazy. By the way, Brady, she's talking about me.
Kate: Do you know what, Isabella, it's just so strange. I woke up this morning and realized again that Vivian was gone. And I know I should be dancing a jig. It's just that I find myself not trusting it. She's not the kind of person who just packs up and leaves town in defeat.
Vivian: Interesting, isn't it? The one person who despises me the most may be the one who saves me. Especially if she drags your dimwitted uncle Bo into it.
Smith: I hope I'm not getting too personal, but Hope did tell me that you two were no longer together.
Bo: If you're implying that I no longer have the legal right to protect her, you'd be wrong. She's my wife. We're not divorced. She's the mother of my children. And she's honorable enough to want to pay for what she's done. But being beat up by inmates, it's not part of her sentence. So when she gets out of the infirmary, I would like you to put her in isolation.
Smith: The prison is my jurisdiction.
Bo: We're talking about a woman's life here.
Smith: And I will do everything I can to protect her. But this isn't summer camp. It's a prison.
Bo: And I'm not asking you to bend the rules or go easy on her. I don't follow. You came all the way here to tell me that there's a dangerous situation, and yet you imply that you cannot guarantee my wife's safety.
Smith: And as I said, I will do everything I can to ensure that she is safe.
Bo: I'm sure you will.
Lexie: It's just hard to know what's going on with him. I mean, the monitors indicate that his brain activity has increased. And him speaking to me could be an indication that the coma is lightening or it could have just been a reaction.
Abe: I've been dealing with your brother for a while, and he doesn't back off. Sami's been his focus for months. If he called her name, he knows who he is and what he wants.
Lexie: Maybe. I'm not going to tell my father.
Stefano: Tell me what?
Lexie: Um...did you get some rest?
Stefano: How could I rest? And if there's something going on with my son, I damn well want to know.
Kate: Okay, I got your message. Is there a problem?
Philip: You are never gonna believe this. Vivian's left town. Sent Dad a farewell email and just took off.
Kate: Oh. Good.
Philip: That's all you got to say?
Kate: Well, what do you want me to say?
Philip: A woman you hate, a woman who tried to kill my wife on our wedding day is out of our lives. I expected you to be doing cartwheels, and you're not. Which means something must be wrong. Something big? What is it?
Rafe: You want it over with? What does that mean, you want EJ to die?
Will: No, of course not. I mean, I hope he goes back to doing things he loves, you know? Stealing babies. Ruining people's lives. Especially my mother's. You know, I'm thinking of making a novena for that guy.
Rafe: That's good, I hear you. I'm actually partial to the idea of him going away to a maximum security prison and then being locked up with a rather large and lonely guy for a long time.
Will: No, EJ won't go to prison. He'll get away with it. He'll--he gets away with everything.
Rafe: Hmm. Well, I bet the guy who shot him was thinking the exact same thing. Maybe thought he was doing the world a favor. See, the problem is if EJ does die, whoever did it is gonna be locked up for a long time, maybe even worse.
Arianna: Whoever shot EJ is gonna have to deal with Stefano. Me, I'd rather go to prison.
Stefano: I'm waiting.
Lexie: Okay. All right, it's not a bad thing, okay? I just didn't want to get your hopes up yet.
Stefano: So what happened?
Lexie: Well, EJ's brain activity. It's increased slightly.
Stefano: I see. Could I be alone with him?
Lexie: Yeah, yeah.
Stefano: Your sister says that your brain activity has increased. So maybe you'll understand what I'm saying. Elvis, you are my blood. I mean, the air I breathe. And I think I am close to finding out who did this to you. And when I do... there'll be hell to pay.
Maggie: I'm sorry Vivian left.
Maggie: Oh, I was looking forward to hosting the first anniversary party for you two.
Victor: Were you now?
Maggie: Yes, I was planning on a lawn party just outside, and just for Vivian I was gonna decorate. You know, the gnomes that people have in their yard? Lots of those. Plaster chipmunks and skunks and maybe a cement gecko or two.
Victor: Well, I'm sorry I'm going to miss that.
Maggie: I'm gonna miss driving Vivian crazy.
Victor: It's a very short trip.
Maggie: You know, it's really none of my business that she left. I mean, that's between the two of you.
Victor: This is the email that Vivian sent me. I'd like you to read it. Seems that Vivian left because she saw that there was something between you and me. Remember on the day of my wedding? You offered me a ride to the airport. A way to get off the insane merry-go-round my life had become. Like an idiot, I turned you down. I was just wondering if that offer's still on the table.
Carly: Sorry. Sorry.
Bo: That's okay.
Carly: Um, thanks for meeting me here. I'm kind of getting creeped out.
Bo: Because of this?
Carly: Yeah. Nice exercise in restraint, right?
Bo: Hmm. Isabella would have thought this was a little bit over-the-top.
Carly: Yeah, it's Vivian's idea of a tribute.
Bo: How much does something like this cost?
Carly: I don't know. But it's Vivian, so I'm sure she got the insider's price.
Vivian: I am inside the sarcophagus, you idiot.
Bo: You know what I'm thinking? Vivian knew she was leaving town and wanted to leave us something to remember her by.
Carly: Huh. See, 'cause when I walked in here and saw this I thought, I don't believe she's gone.
Bo: Well, you do not have to worry where she is.
Carly: How can you say that? She could be out there right now waiting to strike, because she has something really, really bad in mind.
Brady: Carly's nervous. But Bo wants to believe that you're out of their lives completely, Vivian. And who can blame him? I don't think it's gonna be too hard to convince them that they've nothing to fear from you.
Vivian: Oh, please. You heard Carly. She's gonna keep pushing Bo to find me. She won't believe I'm gone until she hears it out of my own mouth.
Brady: Leave that to me.
Kate: Of course, I am thrilled that Vivian is leaving town. Who wouldn't be? But I'm just a little preoccupied right now with this whole situation with EJ.
Philip: Oh, yeah. How is he?
Kate: He's the same. He's the same, but Stefano is-- is out of his mind.
Philip: Hmm. Which makes him unpredictable, dangerous. I was on the receiving end of that when he decided the Kiriakis family was responsible for Tony's death.
Kate: Before this all happened with EJ, I thought that I understood him, that I could handle him.
Philip: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Now you don't?
Kate: He's very cold. He's--he's just enraged.
Philip: At you? Mom, does he think somebody in our family shot EJ?
Kate: You know that I told your mother what EJ was planning to do.
Will: Stop it, stop it.
Kate: I understand that you love your mother, and I--
Will: I said stop.
Will: Stop it! Don't ask me questions that you know I can't answer.
Philip: Mom! Does he think somebody in our family is responsible?
Kate: I hope not. But honestly, I don't know.
Rafe: Ari, it's great to see you, it really is, but Will and I were having a private conversation.
Arianna: Oh, I'm so sorry. I--I can--
Will: No. No, no, don't worry about it. I--I gotta go anyway.
Rafe: No, no, no, Will, Will, Will, Will, wait. Mm-kay, that's great. Next time maybe you can just not butt into the private conversation, especially one you don't understand.
Arianna: Wait, I mean, what don't I understand?
Rafe: Oh, I don't know. Maybe what the kid is going through.
Arianna: Do you think you're helping him, telling him this whole thing is gonna be resolved in a law-abiding manner?
Rafe: I do actually. You don't?
Arianna: I don't know. I mean, I sat in a Salem City jail cell with, what, drunks, drug addicts, hookers, while the cop who did what I was accused of doing made her case against me. Everybody believed Hope. Nobody believed me. So you'll have to excuse me if I'm a little down on the whole legal system and your whole idea of justice.
Rafe: Okay, great. You do have a point there. So now what? You believe in the DiMera system of justice?
Arianna: I believe in what works, Rafe. I'm leaving now, good-bye.
Rafe: Now hold on a second.
Rafe: I love you too much to let you go. You and I, we're gonna work some things out, okay?
Stefano: Listen to me, Elvis. I'll make a deal with you, hmm? If you keep fighting the way you fought the night that you lay in this bed all night long with a bullet in your head, I swear to you that I'll find out who did this to you. I--I already have somebody working on it right now. But... I'm sorry to have to tell you, but... my money is on the young William Horton. The reason I'm saying I'm sorry is because, you know, I've actually grown very fond of William. But if I'm proven right about him... I will do to him what he did to you.
Maggie: I would have given a ride to any man who was being coerced into a marriage to Vivian Alamain.
Victor: It was more than that.
Maggie: Okay. Maybe I was seeing something in you. A guy who was sick and tired of the way he was living, and he might want to make a big change.
Victor: And you don't see that guy anymore?
Maggie: I was forced into a big change, but it wasn't any of my doing. So maybe I just wanted to relate to you.
Victor: Mickey Horton would not want you to spend the rest of your life alone.
Maggie: True. But Mickey Horton isn't here. So whether I like it or not, I have to rely on my instincts, and my instincts tell me that it would be best for me if we just became friends and nothing more.
Victor: Your instincts don't know what they're talking about. And I'm going to prove it to you.
Philip: I keep a very close eye on my father, and I swear to you we had nothing to do with what happened to EJ.
Kate: Really? Really? Because that night I heard Victor threaten Stefano.
Philip: What, because of the shipment that got held up in customs?
Philip: I'm sure all he did was threaten. Look, I would know if there was more, okay? That doesn't look like it made you feel any better.
Kate: No, I--I feel better, I do. And thank you for telling me about Vivian. Wherever she is, I hope she stays there for the rest of her life.
Vivian: How in the world are you going to convince Carly that I'm not still a threat? She knows that you have almost nothing to do with me.
Brady: You know what your mistake is, Vivian? You're constantly underestimating your opponent. You never give them any credit for having any brains at all. Why don't you think about that? I think you're gonna have the time.
[Cell phone beeps]
Bo: What is it?
Carly: Speak of the devil. "Dearest Carly, I may be gone, but I'll never forget what you did to Lawrence. My broken marriage takes priority right now, but I'll heal and I will be back. Vivian." So what do I make of that?
Bo: Sounds to me like a woman covering her backside.
Carly: What does that mean?
Bo: Well, you're fine. Your daughter, Melanie, is fine. Victor doesn't want anything to do with her. She's failed on all fronts. Could be she's admitting defeat.
Carly: Maybe you're right.
Vivian: You will not get away with this, Brady Black.
Brady: Seems I just did.
Philip: Hey. Who were you just talking to?
Arianna: I don't think we have anything to talk about.
Rafe: Okay, how 'bout the fact that I don't even feel like I know you anymore?
Arianna: Because you can't tell me what to think.
Rafe: Oh, come on, I have never done that. Not for a long time anyway.
Arianna: You approved of me because I was with Brady.
Rafe: I've always approved of you.
Arianna: No, you've always believed in my potential, Rafe.
Rafe: What, you're gonna stand here and you're gonna tell me you think that EJ DiMera has more faith in you than I do?
Arianna: In spite of being your sister, in spite of always being on your side, EJ came to me and he offered me a job. He came to my defense the moment I was arrested.
Rafe: Okay, listen, I hate to break it to you, but he did that for two reasons. Number one, so he could get information out of you about what I had on him, and secondly to impress Sami.
Arianna: Oh, you really know how to boost my self-esteem.
Rafe: Listen, I'm on your side here, okay? The thing is, like, I'm just letting you know that he was using you, he was conning you in the same way that he was conning Sami.
Arianna: Mmm. That's what this comes down to. Saint Sami Brady.
Rafe: He kidnapped her baby, okay?
Arianna: It was his baby too, Rafe. She, what, forgot to tell him that she was pregnant? She's done some horrible things as well.
Rafe: Okay. So what, she gets what she deserves?
Arianna: Well, who's paying now? But Sami has you, she has her two children, and everyone in the world knows that this huge wrong was done to her. EJ, now that guy, he was shot in the head with a bullet.
Rafe: Well, you always did have a soft spot in your heart for guys like that, didn't you?
Arianna: I admit it, okay? In the past, I was a bum magnet. He's not like that. I know he's not perfect. I know he isn't you.
Rafe: Okay. That's why you like him, because he's not like me, is that it?
Arianna: He's never let me down. I'm not gonna let him down either. And you need to get used to that.
Abe: Thank you. Well, it's time to pick up Theo. So let me know if anything changes with EJ.
Lexie: Okay, I will.
Man: Know where I can find Stefano DiMera?
Lexie: I'm his daughter. It's true. Can you tell me what this is about?
Stefano: Thank you, Alexandra. I can take it from here. Let's go where we can talk privately.
Lexie: Wonder what that's about.
Abe: Well, I don't think they're getting together because they're in the same book club.
Stefano: Well, that was fast.
Man: I think this is what you're looking for.
Kate: I am going to have to stop him. He's left me no choice. If he thinks that Will is the one, then I can't reason with him. Katherine, you need to do what you need to do. Whatever it--whatever it takes. Because will is your flesh and blood. No one else matters. But will I really need to do that to the husband I've come to love?
Abe: I'm really proud of you today.
Lexie: For what, lying to my father?
Abe: Yeah, I know it's hard to keep any hopeful sign from Stefano when he's so worried about EJ. But he really shouldn't know that EJ said Sami's name.
Lexie: I know.
Abe: If EJ says anything else, keep Bo and me posted.
Lexie: Okay, I will. Okay, bye.
Brady: Just talking to the office, man.
Philip: In Vivian's old room?
Brady: Honestly, I came up here to make sure that it was true. I mean, it hasn't really sunked in yet that she's gone.
Vivian: Homicidal sociopath!
Philip: Yeah, not for me either. That's why I came up here too. Oh, man, for her to just take off, it's a little too easy. Do you think this is her setting us up?
Brady: I don't know, Philip, but something tells me we've seen the last of Vivian.
Philip: Well, I hope you're right. Take care.
Brady: Yeah. I think we can count on it.
Vivian: I think you can count on burning in hell, Brady Black.
Victor: You know, if you hadn't made this tough, I would have been a little disappointed.
Maggie: I'm not playing a game.
Victor: I know that. And I like that too. In fact, I can't think of much about you that I don't like. I even like it when you call me a spoiled brat. Imagine that.
Maggie: It's a lot about you that I like, Victor. But I'm--I'm not gonna be steamrolled by you.
Victor: Well, suppose I tell you I'll change. All right, well, that's not gonna happen. But think of it this way. I'm not asking you to change either.
Maggie: Yeah, but don't you see, this is hopeless.
Maggie: Because what you like is the game. What if I suddenly became flushed and breathless and said, "Oh, Victor, you're the one for me"? You would be bored out of your gourd in 30 seconds. Why can't we just agree to disagree?
Vivian: Doesn't it bother you just a little bit that what you're doing to me has made you sink to my level?
Brady: No. I'm protecting my entire family from you, Viv, and that makes me feel pretty good actually. And by the way, thank you for shooting your mouth off about, you know, Bo and Carly, 'cause that helped me dodge a big bullet, especially since I sent the message from your phone, which means it can't be traced to anyone but you. Which proves that you're alive and well and you're able to email, so, you know, you gotta face it, Viv. You're toast.
Bo: You know, I have spent enough time in this old mausoleum.
Carly: Me too. You know, I think Isabella would be happy for us being together.
Bo: My sister, guardian angel.
Carly: Yeah. And I'm lucky I've got two angels.
Bo: Come on.
Vivian: You're gonna crack, Black. Pretty soon liquor won't be enough for you. I hope you don't go back to using drugs, because it's a possibility you're gonna need some sort of chemical to cope with what you're doing to me. And you don't want to see it, but you're going to pay dearly.
Brady: Sorry, Viv. This is one good deed that's gonna go unpunished.
Victor: Friends. For now.
Maggie: I did the right thing. Yes, I did.
Rafe: Hey, Tiffany, it's me. Everything cool there? Good. Yeah, I think I'm gonna end up taking the rest of the week off. Can you put in a request for me? [Chuckles] Yeah, as a matter of fact, there is. Maybe you can help me deal with a rebellious teenaged kid who's got his mother's stubborn streak. [Chuckles] Okay, take care.
Will: If EJ already said Mom's name... what else is he gonna say?
Lexie: I don't know who did this to you, EJ. Part of me doesn't want to know. But our father isn't gonna give up until he finds the person who shot you. And when he does... God help whoever it is.
Kate: I thought I heard the door.
Stefano: I have news for you, Katherine. It's about William.
Kate: Okay. But before we talk, what about a drink?
Stefano: Well, a little early in the day, but what the hell, why not?
On the next "Days of Our Lives" --
Maggie: There is just too much happiness in Salem these days.
Brady: I don't think I can trust you.
