[Machine beeping]

[Lexis sobs as EJ is disconnected from the ventilator]

Sami: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Melanie: Hey, Maggie. You ready?

Philip: Something wrong?

Maggie: Um, Philip, I hope you're not gonna be upset, but I've changed my mind. I'm not going.

Philip: What? Why?

Melanie: What do you mean you're not going? This is Philip's sister and Brady's mom and Victor's daughter. I mean, like, Philip said, why not?

Maggie: Well, there are a lot of reasons, but I--I sort of got a warning last night. About Vivian.

Vivian: Damn it. Brady's got the remote. Now I'm really completely cut off. Who knew he'd be that clever? [Sighs] Okay. Don't panic. Don't panic. Victor will get that silly email, and he'll know I didn't write it, and then he'll... he'll come and find me.

Brady: "I'm not sure I get what's happened"? What is it you don't get?

Victor: Here. Vivian's email. She says she's left town. But that's impossible.

Lexie: You can go now, Sarah. Thank you.

Stefano: Good-bye. My son.

Vivian: Something is going on between the two of you, and it isn't sisterly love. So let's see. What could it be? Well, it's not money, and it-- certainly isn't brains and wit, God knows. So, uh, perhaps it's a man. Something's going on here. And it's only a matter of time before I find out what it is.

Daniel: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you.

Chloe: Oh, it's okay.

Daniel: My God, you're gorgeous. You ready to go to the memorial?

Chloe: You know what? I don't want to go.

Daniel: You--well, why not?

Chloe: I don't want to see Vivian.

Vivian: What a hypocrite. People think Brady Black is such a goody two-shoes. Look at him. He--once he heard I was going to put his precious little Maggie Horton into this box, he turned into an absolute reptile. Ooh, that lying snake. He's gonna lose. Victor will know that that email was forged. And he'll come find me. I know he will. I know he will.

Victor: "By the time you get this, I'll be gone." That's utter nonsense. There's no way that she would leave.

Brady: Well, if she said that she did, I mean...

Victor: Read it for yourself. Never happen.

Brady: "It is quite clear to me now that our relationship simply cannot go on. Indeed, it came as a true awakening." Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. "It's obvious that you have feelings." Uh, "I'm sure you would finally say that we were simply not meant to be." Look, Granddad, I mean, you have said some harsh things about her. I mean, if she ever over-- Granddad?

Stefano: Elvis. You'll be missed. More than you'll ever know. I will always... [Gasps] Oh, my God. What happened?

Will: What? What's going on?

EJ: [Gasps]

Sami: Was that his last--? I mean, is that it? Is he--?

Lexie: He's breathing on his own.

Will: What--what does--does that mean he's--he's waking up?

Stefano: He's strong. He's strong. I knew he would beat this.

Will: I don't know how. The doctor said he couldn't breathe on his own.

Lexie: Okay, everyone out now. Out.

[Gun fires]

Will: Mom. You okay?

Sami: I'm fine.

Will: Are you sure?

Sami: Stop worrying. It's gonna be fine.

Stefano: It didn't quite work out the way you'd hoped. Did it, Samantha?

Ian: Hey, Steph.

Stephanie: Ian.

Ian: How's it going?

Stephanie: What are you doing here?

Ian: Uh, coffee. What?

Stephanie: The paternity test. I mean, we know the results were switched. And we know that before it said Philip was the father, and now it's saying Daniel. But if it wasn't Philip who switched the results, and it wasn't Chloe, then who else wanted the results switched?

Daniel: Hey. Hey, honey. If you don't want to deal with Vivian, you don't have to. You just stay right here and relax. Okay? I'll go pay my respects to Victor, Philip, and I'll be back in two hours tops.

Chloe: Are you sure?

Daniel: I am absolutely positive. So why would I let the woman of my dreams have to deal with that old battle axe, hmm?

Chloe: Thank you.

Daniel: Yeah? And while I'm there, I think Vivian and I are gonna have a private, little chat. Yes, a definitive one on one, so she gets the message to stay away from you and Melanie.

Chloe: [Sighs] I--you know what? Come to think of it, Vivian's always gonna be in our lives whether we like it or not, so I'm just gonna have to learn how to deal with it. We'll go together.

Daniel: Okay, that was a 180.

Chloe: Yeah, well, I--I can't hide from Vivian, all right? I'm stronger than that. I guess it just upset me to think about that creepy, old mausoleum, and having to face Vivian, not to mention Victor. So I'll be fine. Really. Even though my stomach's been a little bit queasy, and I've been drinking the sparkling water, but it's not really helping.

Daniel: Yeah? I'll tell you what. Let's not do any more sparkling water, okay? We'll stop and we'll just get some herbal tea for you, all right? What was that for?

Chloe: Because I love you. And because you care so much. And don't worry about me. This is just normal pregnancy stuff, okay?

Daniel: Hey, there is nothing normal about us. Or this pregnancy. 'Cause right here, we've got a little miracle. Now where were we?

Chloe: Mm. You're bad.

Daniel: I am bad.

Vivian: Damn it. This is worse than cable television. All those channels and there's nothing on. [Sighs] Oh, wait a minute. Wait a minute. The other remote. Oh, my God. Oh. Thank you. I was blind. Now I can see.

Brady: Granddad, what's going on?

Victor: Ah. See what I mean? All her clothes, still here. Her luggage, still here. All those gaudy hats, still here.

Brady: I--I don't know.

Vivian: Of course, they're still there, because I'm still here. Two plus two, Victor. Do the math. Can you hear me? Oh. Oh, that's right. They can't hear me unless Brady has those earphones on. Damn it.

Victor: She would never go anywhere without jewelry. It's gone. All her earrings are gone.

Brady: Wow. Really? That--that may mean something.

Vivian: "Oh, really? That may mean something." You lying little snake.

Victor: I'll be damned. Her passport is gone.

Brady: Uh-oh. That's--that's significant.

Victor: And that trashy container that she carried Lawrence's ashes around in, that's gone.

Brady: Gosh. What do you--what do you think?

Victor: Well, there's only one word I can say about all this.

Brady: One word.

Victor: Hallelujah!

Sami: You have no idea what I was thinking, okay?

Rafe: Calm down, okay? Now you need to shut up. You signed off on what Sami did just like everyone else.

Stefano: I was hoping for the best. I was not hoping that he would die.

Rafe: Well, nobody was hoping that EJ was gonna die. Doctors said he didn't have a chance, so Sami just did what they thought was best.

Sami: Lexie. Well? Is he still... breathing on his own?

Lexie: [Sighs] Yeah. Yeah. His lungs are clear and functioning normally.

Sami: So--so that means he's gonna recover.

Maggie: I got a call last night from Vivian's assistant. He said he was leaving town. He said I should watch out. Those were his exact words. "Watch out."

Melanie: Everybody's got to watch out when it comes to Vivian.

Maggie: Yeah, but that's just it. She's been very friendly lately. I mean, she practically begged me to come today for Victor and Brady, so they'll feel honored.

Philip: Oh, like she gives a damn how they feel.

Melanie: Why would she be playing games with you?

Maggie: I don't know. Kind of makes me nervous.

Melanie: You don't have to be. You stick by us. We'll protect you.

Philip: Absolutely.

Maggie: Well, I know this is a special day for Brady. For you too, Philip. I mean, your sister, Isabella, she was--hmm. She was so giving and loving. She trusted and cared. Do you know that she was the first one to see the good in Victor? I mean, she practically dragged it out of him, even when he balked.

Melanie: Kind of like you do, Maggie.

Chloe: Daniel, you have to let me fix my tea.

Daniel: Am I interrupting you?

Chloe: Know what? I should have left you in the car.

Daniel: What, and spend all that time alone? Hmm? You would not be that cruel, would you?

Chloe: Mm. Come on. We have to go to Maggie's. Stop--stop it.

Stephanie: That was Chloe.

Ian: That's Chloe? She's hot. No wonder that guy's so into her.

Stephanie: Yeah, he's... oh, my God.

Ian: What?

Stephanie: What if it was Daniel who switched the results?

Vivian: Victor, don't say that. You should be appalled. You should be suspicious.

Victor: [Chuckles] I haven't felt this good since... I can't remember when. Vivian has finally done something right. Something good.

Justin: Uncle Vic. What is going on in here?

Victor: Justin! Wonderful news! Vivian has left me! [Laughs]

Lexie: I wish I could say this was terrific news, but EJ's ability to breathe on his own, it's certainly better than... the alternative, but... his chances are still very slim.

Stefano: I want to see him.

Lexie: Yeah. Yeah, of course. I still want to do another test. Come. Come.

Kate: Sami, maybe this is a good time for you to come to the house and pick up some of the things that you left.

Sami: Yeah, I've been meaning to do that. Um, okay. Uh, my phone is on, all right?

Rafe: Okay. Mine too.

Sami: Okay.

Will: Want me to come and help?

Sami: No. No, I'm good. Bye. See you later.

Rafe: Okay.

Will: [Grumbles] You know, Stefano can be the meanest son of a bitch in the world sometimes.

Rafe: Yeah, he needs to watch his mouth. And we need to go someplace.

Will: Where?

Rafe: Mm, someplace we can talk.

Will: Why?

Rafe: 'Cause it's time.

Stephanie: Yeah, thanks, Beth. I just wanted to make sure before I said anything to Dr. Jonas. You too. Bye. Yep. Daniel has special privileges at St. Mary's. He could've gotten into the computer system and changed the results.

Ian: Well, you know, Chloe's really hot and everything, but still.

Stephanie: What?

Ian: Well, if she cheated on him and got pregnant by some other guy, why would he change the test results so that everybody would think that he was the father? I mean, instead of, you know, telling her to get the hell out of his life?

Stephanie: Because he thought it'd be better for everyone that way.

Ian: Really? He wouldn't even be mad?

Stephanie: Well, well, yeah. Of course, he was mad at first. And then he realized that there was too much at stake to just pack Chloe in, so instead of ripping Philip's face off for sleeping with his fiancée, he changed the results, saved Melanie's marriage, and fixed things for himself and Chloe. Yeah. That has to be it.

Vivian: Victor, no. You can't be saying this.

Victor: You satisfied? I didn't believe it myself at first. You know, Vivian can be dense as cement when it comes to how other people feel about her. I never thought she'd see the light of day and leave.

Justin: Apparently she did. Yeah, but it just seems like such a 180 for her.

Vivian: You--you tell him, Justin. Tell him it can't possibly be true.

Justin: But strange things do happen sometimes.

Victor: I wonder if this is another one of her schemes to make me miss her.

Justin: Could be. Now that sounds more like Vivian.

Victor: Well, we'll find out for sure when we all gather for the ceremony, and she's either there or she's not.

Vivian: [Sighs]

Victor: No way she would miss being the center of attention.

Brady: Unless she left.

Victor: Right.

Vivian: No. My love, I'll find a way. I promise. I promise.

Victor: In either case, prepare the divorce papers, if she's gone, and we'll call it desertion. That way she won't even get the prenup money. [Laughs]

Vivian: Oh, no, Victor. Don't say that.

Justin: You know what? There's still something a little too strange about Vivian just disappearing.

Brady: You know what? You know what? You should look at the bright side on this one, all right? I mean, she's gone, he's happy. Should get used to that.

Kate: So sometimes Stefano sees things so clearly, and other times, like when it comes to his family, he's totally blind. Are you okay?

Sami: I'm fine. I just want to know what I'm doing here.

Kate: You're here so we can talk about Will.

Rafe: Okay. This should be good.

Will: Are you sure we're far enough out? Yeah, I guess the spies couldn't find us here.

Rafe: Mm. Well, I just wanted to make sure that we could talk. So we're not interrupted.

Will: Why is that so important? Okay, what's up? Something about Stefano?

Rafe: Well, sort of. Where were you when EJ got shot?

Brady: Hey, I'm--I'm sorry. I snapped. Sorry. I just--I have a lot on my plate today, and this whole thing erupted out of nowhere, and...

Justin: Hey, no problem.

Brady: Thanks. I'd like to concentrate less on Vivian, and more on what's really important today, and that's my mom.

Justin: Yeah.

Vivian: Damn it. Where are you going? Downstairs? Oh, well. Who cares? Where's Victor? Where's Victor?

Victor: Oh, Vivian?

Vivian: Yes. I'm here, my sunshine.

Victor: Huh. She really is gone.

Vivian: No, Victor. I'm here. I'm here.

Victor: We'll, I'll be damned.

Philip: Dad. Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you. You okay?

Victor: Yes, I couldn't be better. I'm so good I could dance a jig. If I knew how to dance a jig. Maggie. Melanie, Chloe, Daniel.

Maggie: Hello, Victor. Are--are we early?

Victor: I think you're just exactly on time.

Philip: That is really amazing.

Victor: Yes, it is, isn't it? But not near as amazing as the news that I just got.

Philip: What's that?

Daniel: Uh, what?

Melanie: Good news, I hope?

Victor: Oh, the best. Vivian has left me. There is a God.

[Machine beeping]

Lexie: I have to do some work at the desk. Will you be all right?

Stefano: Yes, yes, yes.

Lexie: Sometimes, uh... sometimes things just don't work out the way we hope. I'm so sorry.

Stefano: Never mind what she says, huh? You come back to me.

Sami: I don't understand. What about Will?

Kate: Okay, let's not play games, because it's just going to waste time, all right? I talked to Will. I know that he knows that I called you and I told you that EJ might be taking the kids and disappearing right before he was shot.

Sami: Right. And I talked to Will about it, all right? So he understands that he can never tell Stefano that you made that call, okay?

Kate: I'm not just worried about that.

Sami: Well, then what are you freaking out about?

Kate: I think you know.

Will: W-where was I?

Rafe: Mm-hmm.

Will: Everybody knows where I was that night. I was--I was at Grandma's with Johnny and Allie and Sydney.

Rafe: Uh-huh.

Will: What?

Rafe: Well, you see, I'm not sure that you're telling me the truth.

Ian: So we're all good? No more computers to be hacked?

Stephanie: It's over. Listen, Ian, thank you so much for everything.

Ian: No problem. And good luck with Nathan. I mean, if he doesn't realize how good he has it--

Stephanie: No, he does. He loves me. Look, all of this was just to make sure that things stay the way they are, the way they should be. And so what? We hacked into a computer system. But it's not like I changed the results, so I have nothing to be ashamed of.

Adrienne: Hi.

Stephanie: Hey.

Adrienne: What's going on?

Ian: Hey, listen, I got to run, okay? I'll talk to you later.

Adrienne: Stephanie? You're practically shaking. What were you and that guy talking about?

Stephanie: Oh, nothing.

Adrienne: Please don't lie. Just tell me. What have you done?

Victor: Apparently, marriages can be ended by email nowadays. I didn't realize that. But Vivian said she finally realized that we shouldn't be together.

Philip: So wait a second. She just left Salem?

Vivian: Oh, no, Philip. Mommy's still here. You're practically standing on me.

Victor: You can say that she's finally bit the dust, hmm?

Philip: Wow.

Victor: She took all her best jewelry and that trashy container with Lawrence in it and her passport.

Vivian: No. Your son of a bitch grandson did all that to make it look like I-- Victor! Victor!

Melanie: So she's gone?

Daniel: I guess so.

Maggie: Sounds like it.

Philip: This is great. This is great.

Melanie: So she's gone.

Daniel: Yeah.

Maggie: She really is?

Chloe: It's amazing.

Victor: And hallelujah.

Daniel: Well, this--this is the best news ever.

Chloe: She's out of our lives.

Daniel: Yeah. She's gone.

Vivian: Bastards. You're all bastards to the core.

Maggie: I'm not giving you any congratulations.

Victor: And why not?

Maggie: Oh, I don't know. Well, then maybe I will. Are you sure? Are you positive she's gone?

Victor: Well, what can I say? Nothing is certain. But it's certainly lookin' good.

Maggie: Oh, now don't start getting silly. This is serious.

Victor: I am serious. If she is gone... it's all thanks to you.

Vivian: Oh, no.

Sami: Spell it out, Kate.

Kate: I need to know where he was.

Sami: Where Will was. The night EJ was shot. Because Stefano suspects him.

Kate: He needs an alibi, Sami.

Rafe: Will, we need to deal with the truth here. You listening?

Will: You were carrying something that looked like a gun.

Sami: Oh, my God, Will. Why? Why? Why did you go back there?

Will: You did that, didn't you, Mom? You shot EJ. Yeah.

Rafe: You know, Will, from the day I first met you, I thought you were a great kid. A straight shooter. But right now I need some straight answers, okay? Now I know it can be tough, but you think you can try that?

Will: Okay. I'll tell you what you want to know.

Rafe: Okay.

Stephanie: Gee, nice to see you too, aunt Adrienne. You know, it's not much fun being called a liar.

Adrienne: Something's wrong. Just please talk to me.

Stephanie: Nothing is-- look, that guy is just a friend. I am in love with Nathan.

Adrienne: What have you done?

Stephanie: Aunt Adrienne, I haven't done anything. Not a damn thing. Okay? So if you'll excuse me, I'm busy.

Victor: Well, we have all come here today to honor a wonderful woman. My daughter. Brady's mother, Philip's sister.

Vivian: It wasn't supposed to be this way. You should all be standing over Maggie's helpless, screaming body. This is so disgusting. It's just disgusting.

Maggie: Isabella wasn't--she wasn't just beautiful. She was an ideal beauty. She was genuine and caring and loving. She touched everyone she was around. I think she touched Victor more than anyone. I know that he learned more from his daughter than he learned from anyone on this earth about love.

Victor: Isabella was one of a kind. She would tell me off, and all I'd want to do was hug her. Maggie was right. She did open up my heart. Life with her around wasn't just wonderful, it was perfect. And this is a very special day for me, for Brady, for Philip. I want to thank you all for coming here today. There's an old Greek custom where you raise your glass to the dead. To Isabella.

Brady: Grand--Granddad. I'm sorry to interrupt. I know I wasn't gonna say anything here today, but... there's something I got to come clean about.

Vivian: Oh, thank God. The boy's conscience is finally taking control.

Sami: We have to save him, Kate. I don't--

Stefano: Oh. What are you two talking about?

Kate: EJ, of course.

Sami: How is he?

Stefano: As if you care.

Kate: Stefano, don't.

Stefano: Anyway, he's fine. He's strong. Uh, so... you want to tell me what you're really talking about?

Kate: Oh, God.

Sami: We were really talking about EJ. Why?

Stefano: Somehow I thought it might be about, uh... Will.

Sami: Why would you think that?

Stefano: Because I have information that the police do not have.

Sami: What is that supposed to mean? Stefano, what are you talking about?

Stefano: I'm talking about the gun that was used to shoot my son.

Sami: You found it?

Stefano: Of course not. It's never going to be found. It's probably buried somewhere, or at the bottom of the river. But it has always been locked in this drawer, and the only people that knew about it were the people that live or lived in this house. You recognize this box, don't you, Samantha?

Sami: I've seen it.

Stefano: Of course, you have. Huh? Now... I firmly believe that, uh, Elvis was not shot by a professional. You know, like Victor's organization, or somebody like that. It was, as they say, an inside job. Now Katherine and I were on the yacht. Nicole has an alibi, and you... you were with Hernandez. So that leaves William. And only William.

Will: I was, um... I was at the pub. Just like I said. Just ask Grandma.

Rafe: Okay. Stay there the whole night?

Will: Yeah. I stepped out for a minute to take a phone call from T, but then I--I went back inside to check on the kids.

Rafe: Really? So then what? You didn't go anywhere else?

Will: No, I didn't. What? What? What are you--? What's with the looks?

Rafe: Well, will... just not sure I believe you.

Adrienne: Kayla, I know it's short notice, but, um, there's something going on here with Stephanie, and if you could come out to Salem... no. No, no, no, no. I don't want to alarm you. Just-- I really think your daughter needs you. Great. Great. The sooner the better.

Brady: You know, when I was growing up, I would hear kids constantly be saying things like, "My mom is so mean. My mom is making me wear this dumb outfit again. My mom this." I didn't have a mom. But I had--I had stories. I had great stories, mind you, about a woman who was loved and admired and respected, and today remembered. And I want to thank you all for coming. I want to thank you for being here and speaking. And helping me remember what a wonderful person she was. And I also have to mention Vivian. Because she's the one that set all of this in motion, and the way in which she handled my mother's memory was... it was--it was really incredible. My only hope is that someday I'll be able to pay her back. And I'm sure I'll find a way. I know most of you know that my life has not been so smooth lately. It's been a little rough. Not as smooth as I'd like it to be, but today, right now, I'm very much at peace. And I owe some of that to Vivian. The fact that she is leaving Salem for good, I mean, that's--that's a lot. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. But, honestly, I kind of feel bad about being so harsh and critical to her while she was here. Because she really did a wonderful and right thing for my mom today. So if you will, please raise a glass. To my mother. And to the woman who made today possible. Vivian.

Victor: Vivian.

Maggie: Vivian.

Chloe: To Vivian.

Vivian: No! No!

Rafe: Look, Will, you know, sometimes the truth, it's hard to accept...

Will: Okay, hey, I told you what I know, okay? And I know you're trying to help, but if you think I did it, then bring it on. Charge me.

Sami: That--that is so crazy I don't even know what to say. Will did not shoot EJ.

Stefano: How do you know, hmm? How can you be so sure, Samantha?

EJ: Sa... Samantha... Samantha.

On the next "Days of Our Lives" --

Victor: I'm telling you, Maggie, she is gone.

Vivian: I am not!

Lexie: Father, you should come to the hospital ASAP.

Rafe: If he feels that you're the one who shot his son, he's not gonna wait for proof.
