[EJ lies on the bed bleeding]
Sami: [Sighs] I love you. I love you so much.
Chloe: Here you go. Hey, listen. I think it's a little too soon to decide that there's no hope, all right? It's the middle of the night, and things have a way of looking better in the morning.
Nicole: How was Brady when you saw him?
Nicole: How did he react when you told him you were pregnant?
Chloe: He said he was happy for me, and I think he meant it.
Nicole: He is the sweetest, greatest guy. God. No wonder he doesn't want anything to do with me.
Chloe: Nicole, stop it.
Nicole: No, it's true. I ruin everything I touch. No wonder I don't have a life. [Crying]
Vivian: Did you come to visit your mother?
Brady: I asked you what you were doing here.
Vivian: Well, I had this wonderful sarcophagus made for your mother.
Brady: What the hell are you talking about?
Vivian: Well, so that you and Victor could think of Isabella resting in eternity in comfort and splendor.
Brady: You are the strangest person I've ever met. Did my grandfather agree to this? To put my mother in here?
Vivian: Actually, he rather liked the idea.
Brady: Well, I don't like the idea, and I want you to get this freakin' thing out of here and leave my mom alone.
Victor: Stefano and I had a little disagreement. It's all settled now.
Maggie: Well, it doesn't sound like it's settled. It sounded like the two of you were threatening each other.
Victor: Oh, two old men posturing is all it was.
Stefano: Absolutely. Oh, oh, I think I see the launch coming back. Come on, we have to go.
Kate: Good night, Victor, Maggie.
Victor: [Speaking Italian] What?
Maggie: All the posturing. I presume it had to do with the phone call you got before.
Victor: Stefano wasn't playing by the rules. I just made him aware that I knew that. Did you follow me down here?
Maggie: The phone rang, and it was like someone flipped a switch. My friend turned into a whole different person, and I decided I'd better find out who that other person is.
Victor: You know, you really shouldn't come down here alone. It could be dangerous.
Maggie: I can take care of myself.
Victor: You shouldn't have to.
Maggie: What does that mean?
Victor: Do you really want to travel the world by yourself?
Rafe: Wow. You have the goose bumps. You cold?
Sami: I just keep thinking about that nightmare I had and I just--I feel like, you know, shivers down my spine.
Rafe: Yeah, well, I don't want you to worry about it anymore, okay? I promise you, nothing is gonna hurt you.
Sami: I'm trying to believe that myself.
Rafe: Okay. Mmm.
Vivian: Brady, I know I should have cleared it with you, but I was so anxious to do something meaningful for Victor.
Vivian: I know how much he loved your mother, I know he thought she was the better part of himself, and I wanted to prove that I understood and respected her memory and that I wanted to prove myself worthy to Victor and to you.
Brady: I don't want to think about anybody moving my mother.
Vivian: Oh, I know how much you love her, and I know she would be very proud of you.
Brady: I'm not so sure about that.
Vivian: But just--just tell me that you understand my gift.
Brady: Well, if my grandfather says it's all right, I guess it's all right.
Gus: More cassettes for your tape recorder.
Gus: Luckily, Salem had a late-night electronics store.
Vivian: I had a rather unnerving experience while you were gone.
Gus: What happened?
Vivian: Brady dropped in.
Gus: The late Isabella's son.
Vivian: Victor dotes on him. And then he saw the sarcophagus, and I had to tell him my intentions towards his mother. He got very angry.
Gus: Oh, dear.
Vivian: Well, he was drinking. I could smell it. But I am sure I convinced him of my good intentions.
Gus: Does he visit his mother's resting place often?
Vivian: I don't know.
Gus: Because it would be rather unfortunate if he were to learn that his mother's remains now lie beside her long-haired Chihuahua named Pookie at the Happy Hunting Pet Cemetery.
Vivian: Well, he's not going to find out. Isabella's immortal soul is resting in heaven or wherever. That's what matters, and Maggie Horton's body is going to be just where it belongs.
Maggie: You can order Stefano DiMera around, but you can't tell me what to do.
Victor: I'm just saying, if you're gonna poke around Europe, what's the fun of doing it alone?
Maggie: Well, the man I'd like to be doing it with is gone, and I need to accept that.
Victor: I'm just saying that as a friend.
Maggie: Am I? Am I a friend, really? Or am I just the instrument that you use to keep Vivian feeling uncomfortable?
Victor: You know, you seem to have a very low opinion of me all of a sudden.
Maggie: I decided tonight that I don't really know you. If you want out of your marriage, tell Vivian that, but leave me out of it.
Chloe: Brady was drinking tonight.
Nicole: He was drinking when he threw me out.
Chloe: Yeah, well, it's not good for him.
Nicole: He'll be okay, once he gets me out of his system.
Chloe: You make yourself sound like poison.
Nicole: Well, I'm not alone in that opinion. I'm sure Daniel wouldn't mind if we never saw each other.
Chloe: He just doesn't understand you like I do.
Nicole: You and my mom-- I feel like the only two people in the world who still care about me, and I do not want to screw anything up between you and Daniel.
Chloe: You won't.
Nicole: And it's finally coming together for you, now that you know it's his kid. I'm sorry. Okay, just--you finally got it all, Chloe, and I just don't want you to take it for granted or do anything stupid. You do not want to end up like me.
Brady: [Exhales as he pours himself another drink]
Sami: I love you so much, Rafe. I love you so much.
Bo: Okay, so what do you want to do first, eat or fish?
Carly: I suggest we eat, and while we're eating, we can catch minnows with this thingy.
Bo: [Chuckles] See that? We can fish without even using your fishing pole.
Ciara: I don't want to fish. I want my mommy to come back.
Chloe: [Sighs] Wow, I can't believe I slept that late.
Daniel: Hmm, surprised you did. A lot of commotion going on here last night.
Chloe: Yeah. Thank you for letting Nicole stay.
Daniel: Didn't I tell you I would do anything for you?
Nicole: Don't stop on my account. I'm on my way out.
Chloe: What? You're--you're leaving already?
Nicole: I know you're gonna miss me, so try to keep a stiff upper lip.
Chloe: Where are you going?
Nicole: As of right now, I've narrowed it down to anywhere that isn't Salem.
Rafe: Oh, God, Sami. What the hell have you done?
Rafe: Hey. You okay? I think you were just having another nightmare.
Rafe: You all right?
Rafe: You want to tell me what it was about?
Stefano: Elvis is not in his room.
Kate: Was his bed slept in?
Kate: I knew it. I knew we should not have spent the night on the yacht. He probably wanted you to think he was too drunk to do anything, and now he's gone after the kids.
Stefano: We do not know that.
Kate: Okay, you need to find him before he disappears forever.
Sami: I'm sorry. I, um, I'm sorry that I woke you up.
Rafe: Oh, come on. You were having a nightmare. It's okay. You want to tell me about it?
Sami: I don't remember it.
Rafe: Oh. There's one logical explanation as to why you're having them. It's about EJ and what happened last night.
Sami: I don't know.
Rafe: It's all right. [Sighs]
Bo: I know, little one. Um...I know you miss Mommy, and she misses you a lot too.
Ciara: Did you send Mommy to that place 'cause you want to be with Carly now?
Chloe: Wait. Last night, you said you were afraid to even leave the apartment.
Nicole: But you said things would seem better in the morning, and you were right.
Rafe: Well, what about the FBI? Aren't they counting on you to testify that you heard EJ say he kidnapped his own kid?
Nicole: No, no, no one can guarantee that EJ will go to prison, so I am designing my own witness protection program, and it involves margaritas and cabana boys.
Chloe: How are you gonna afford any of that? I thought you said EJ froze your bank accounts.
Nicole: That can't last forever, and all I need is a plane ticket to somewhere far, far away, and I was hoping you could lend me the money.
Chloe: Of course.
Daniel: No way.
Rafe: [Kisses Sami] Yesterday must not even seem real.
Sami: 24 hours ago, I was gonna marry EJ. I mean, I actually thought it was gonna work out, even though I knew--I knew in my heart, I still loved you.
Rafe: Oh. Well, I'm sorry I didn't find the evidence against EJ sooner.
Sami: It's not your fault. I'm the one who convinced myself marrying him was a good idea. I'm gonna, uh, call my grandma and check on the kids, okay?
Rafe: Wait, hold on a second. Let's have a little talk first.
Rafe: I just think we should figure out what you're gonna tell the kids about EJ.
Sami: EJ's out of my life. He's out of Johnny and Sydney's life too. It's like you said. The bad times are over.
Rafe: That's right.
Sami: I'm at peace.
Kate: Yes, so if there's anything that we can do for the kids... [Sighs] Well, that was pleasant.
Stefano: [Sighs] What did Caroline say?
Kate: She said that she sent Will to school so he could register, and that Johnny and Allie and Sydney are with her, and they're fine.
Kate: Yeah, and she also said we need to keep our meat hooks off her great-grandchildren.
Stefano: Obviously, you did not let on that we do not know where Elvis is.
Kate: Of course, I didn't. So, what do you think? Do you think he went after Sami in some way?
Stefano: You know, he truly loves her.
Kate: God knows why.
Stefano: I agree, but he would not do anything to hurt her.
Kate: Then where the hell is he?
Stefano: [Taps desk and sighs] Wait. [Sighs] I think I know.
Bo: No. No, little one. I... I did not send Mommy away so that I could be with Carly. We've talked about this a lot. Um... Mommy went away because she's sick.
Ciara: Does she have a fever?
Bo: No, it's... [Sighs] It's not that kind of sickness.
Carly: You remember when you had that rash, and we gave you some medicine that made you feel sleepy? Well, your mommy took some medicine that wasn't good for her, and it made her feel angry, and it--while she was feeling that way, she, um, she did some bad stuff that she would never, ever do if she was herself, right? Like telling you that you were making stuff up, and you just noticed that something was a little different about her? Ciara, I--I know you blame me for your mommy going away, but I never wanted that to happen. See, I have a little girl of my own, and I didn't get to spend a lot of time with her.
Ciara: 'Cause you did bad stuff?
Carly: Yeah, in a way. I needed her, and she needed me, and I--I wasn't there. So I would never, ever, ever want that to happen to anybody else, especially to someone that I like as much as I like you. Okay?
Maggie: I can't believe I lived in this house all these years and never changed a fuse before.
Brady: Well, now you know how to do it.
Maggie: [Laughs] Yeah. Mickey used to do all that kind of stuff.
Brady: Yeah, I figured he did.
Maggie: So, do you have time for coffee and a chat?
Brady: A chat? Oh, I get it now.
Maggie: You get what?
Brady: When did you perfect the "blow toaster, dryer, air conditioning" combination?
Maggie: Do you think I blew that fuse on purpose?
Brady: You want to smell my breath?
Maggie: Are you gonna drink today?
Brady: [Laughs] Let's just say that I'm--I'm not gonna do any drugs today, Maggie.
Maggie: But you're thinking about picking up a drink.
Brady: Look, I can handle myself just fine.
Maggie: Okay, I know this is a difficult time for you. I mean, you broke your engagement, and you found out that Hope was the one that mugged you.
Brady: Hold on, hold on, hold on. Maggie, it's--it's not all bad news.
Maggie: What do you mean?
Brady: I mean that last night, I heard that Chloe was pregnant. She's having Daniel's baby.
Maggie: Oh. Oh, Brady, I am so sorry.
Gus: Good morning, Madam.
Vivian: We have to make this fast. Victor hasn't left yet. Did you bring them?
Gus: Letters to Maggie Horton's loved ones, in her own handwriting, or as close as we could get.
Vivian: I'll post these before we do it. When she disappears, everyone will think she's on a lovely trip. Now, you'd better go.
Gus: It doesn't bother you?
Vivian: What doesn't?
Gus: Putting Maggie Horton in a coffin while she's still alive.
Vivian: Oh, please don't get sentimental on me now, Augustine. I count on you too much. Out! Go, go! Oh, these will definitely do the trick.
Rafe: I'm feeling pretty peaceful myself.
Rafe: Oh, yeah. Do you have any idea how long I've dreamed about having my arms around you for a whole night?
Sami: [Sighs] Rafe, I have no right to expect you to take me back.
Rafe: Come on.
Sami: I was an idiot. I was marrying EJ, and I was too proud and...bullheaded to admit what a huge mistake I was making and... it doesn't matter.
Sami: I mean, no matter what happens, we had last night. [Sighs]
Rafe: What the hell is that supposed to mean? "No matter what happens"? What's gonna happen?
Stefano: Elvis! Ah, Elvis. Oh, my God. Ah. Oh, my God. Oh, no, there's--there's blood. No, no. Madonna mia. Oh.
Kate: What happened?
Kate: Oh, my God!
Stefano: Non e` possibile.
Kate: Oh, God!
Stefano: E` morto, e` morto.
Kate: What are you saying?
Stefano: I think he's dead.
Stefano: It's not right.
Kate: Look, he's--he's been shot in the head, and there's a lot of blood. I don't know who-- who knows how it happened? Just get the ambulance here.
Stefano: I cannot lose you. Who did this?
Kate: Oh, God. [Sighing] They want to know if he has a pulse or if he's breathing.
Stefano: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Give me that phone. I cannot tell if he's breathing! Why are you asking me all these stupid questions? This is Stefano DiMera. My son is almost dying. If he dies, you die! Do you understand? You get that ambulance over here right now! Oh! Oh, God.
Brady: Maggie, I'm very happy for Chloe.
Maggie: Well, of course, you are.
Brady: I mean, I know how long she's always wanted to have a baby.
Maggie: She was your first love, your wife. You must have thought about children.
Brady: Sure, we did. But that didn't work out, and I'm--I think she deserves to be happy, Maggie.
Maggie: I agree. But it must hurt to think about what might have been.
Brady: I try not to look back.
Maggie: It becomes harder and harder to pick yourself up and keep going.
Brady: Look, Maggie, you're very, very sweet to care about me, but you don't really know me.
Maggie: Oh, but I do. I've been you.
Victor: What are you reading?
Vivian: Oh, just some legal papers my lawyer sent over.
Vivian: What are your plans for today?
Victor: I'm making preparations for your departure.
Vivian: What are you talking about?
Victor: I'm sending you to Tahiti. You like it there, right? Grass huts, little umbrellas in the drinks?
Vivian: Well, it's like heaven on earth to me, but why would I go there?
Victor: Because I want you out of the way. I mean, well, it could get dangerous here. My arrangement with Stefano has gone south, and I don't want you caught in the crossfire.
Vivian: [Kiss] Oh, Victor.
Vivian: I have been waiting for a sign, and I just got it. You don't want me to get hurt. You really do care about me.
Nicole: I'm good for the money, Daniel. I would never stiff Chloe.
Daniel: I'm not talking about money. I'm talking about leaving town.
Nicole: You'd miss me? I'm touched.
Chloe: She can't stay in Salem. EJ tried to kill her last night.
Daniel: The DiMeras are a crime family. They have connections all over the world. Anna DiMera tried running away. When's the last time you talked to her?
Nicole: Where'd you find this guy? He's a total buzz-kill.
Daniel: No, you're gonna be looking over your shoulder for the rest of your life.
Nicole: So what should I do? Stay here?
Daniel: If you can help the government put EJ away, they'll protect you.
Nicole: That's a big "if."
Daniel: And you have friends right here.
Nicole: [Sighs] Well, sincerity isn't my best event, so thank you.
Daniel: Yeah. Hold on. Dr. Jonas. You're kidding me. What happened? All right, I'll be right there. I've got to go in to emergency surgery on EJ.
Daniel: He got shot. Yeah, okay.
Sami: I don't know. I don't know what I mean. I'm just saying that I don't know what's gonna happen.
Rafe: What are you talking about?
Sami: And--and--and so I don't want to worry about the future anymore. I just want to appreciate being with you and being happy right now.
Rafe: Well, what are you saying? What do you mean, "right now"? Huh? What do you think, we're not gonna be together? Is that what you're saying?
Sami: Well, we don't know what's gonna happen.
Rafe: Yeah, we know what's gonna happen. We love each other, and we're gonna be together. That's what's gonna happen.
Sami: You can't promise that.
Rafe: Yes, I can, and... now listen, I know you probably don't want to talk about the future right now, but I've realized over the last few months, everything I have been doing is--I've just been thinking about how we could possibly have a future together.
Rafe: Yeah, really. Then, once I realized--once I realized that I had the evidence against EJ, that he had kidnapped Sydney, I started thinking, you know what? Maybe this future thing, maybe this is actually gonna happen. So I did something. Oh, God. You know what? You drive me crazy, you know that?
Rafe: I was gonna save this.
Sami: What are you talking--
Rafe: Till we were on a deserted beach or something, and I thought maybe I'd ride up on a white horse and...
Sami: Horses make you sneeze.
Rafe: You're right, they do. Can't stand 'em. Anyway...
Bo: Don't go too far. [Sighs] You're really good with her.
Carly: I see a lot of you in her, and I love you. How could I not love her?
Bo: What she's been through, what--what she's going through, I just--uhh.
Carly: You were struggling to explain what was happening to Hope to her, and the thing you couldn't tell her was that her mother was having a breakdown because she was losing you. Come on, it's killing you. So you need to tell me what you want me to do, and I'll do it, even if it means the end of us, even if it means I leave Salem. You were there for me when I needed you the most, and now I'm back on my feet. So you tell me what the right thing to do is for you.
Maggie: Life gave me myasthenia gravis and marital problems. So I said, okay, life, I'll just get drunk. You know who paid?
Brady: I know what you're saying, Maggie.
Maggie: No, you don't, or you wouldn't be drinking.
Brady: Why is everybody harping on this drinking thing? It's not a big deal.
Maggie: Because getting high is getting high. You know, what helped me get through these years is remembering what the program says about staying away from people and places and things that make you want to drink.
Brady: I--I know where you're going. Don't--don't lecture me about Nicole, okay? She's out of my life.
Maggie: Nicole is not who I'm talking about. I'm talking about Victor.
Victor: I just want to avoid as much collateral damage as possible. Now, when can you leave?
Vivian: Well, certainly not until I complete the arrangements to have Isabella moved.
Victor: Listen, I love my daughter to death, but she's dead. That can wait.
Vivian: Oh, you're really sending me to that beautiful Tahiti just to save me from the DiMeras?
Victor: On my private jet, all expenses paid.
Vivian: [Gasps] I don't know quite what to say.
Victor: Say good-bye. Pack your bags. You leave today.
Daniel: All right, what's the story?
Male EMT: He's got a bullet in the temporal lobe. The wound isn't fresh, but he's lost a lot of blood.
Female EMT: His head was compressed against a pillow, reason he's still alive.
Stefano: Don't stand here talking. Do something.
Daniel: All right, quiet! Quiet! All right, what--what were his vitals?
Female EMT: Faint. BP is low, pulse is thready, and pupils are non-responsive.
Rafe: I'll be honest here, I'm not gonna promise you a bunch of fancy jewelry, outside of this, or a castle in Spain, but... I want you to know, I'll always put a roof over your head, I'll bring you coffee in the morning, I'll rub your back when you're tired, and I will always love you. Samantha Brady... will you marry me?
Brady: What about Grandfather?
Maggie: Hmm... Victor is, um, charming and smart and funny. But there is a lethal part of him that is always lurking, and you never know when that axe is gonna fall.
Brady: He won't hurt me, Maggie. He loves me.
Maggie: He also wants to own you. That's how he is.
Brady: Well, I can hold my own.
Maggie: How? By drinking? Because it's making him crazy, and I think you know that. I think that's a big part of why you're doing it, but don't let it destroy you.
Brady: What am I supposed to do then, hmm?
Maggie: Well, if by being around him makes you want to drink, then you've got to do whatever you need to do not to be around him. Get a job, move out of the house. But get a job that you pick for yourself, and live like 90% of the people in this country live.
Brady: [Groans] Victor would not like hearing you say that.
Maggie: Do I look like I care?
Maggie: This problem that you're struggling with, you're gonna have for life, Brady, so don't minimize it. I've been doing a little reading about ancient Greeks since I've gotten to know Victor better. Do you know that they waited outside of Troy for ten years, waiting to win? Don't give up. You never know what's around the corner.
Daniel: Okay, go, go, go. All right, I want you to page Carly Manning. Tell her I want her to assist. Get EJ a CT and prep for O.R. Type and cross for at least six units, all right?
Stefano: If he needs blood, I'll give him all I've got.
Daniel: Hey, it's okay, all right?
Stefano: Listen. Listen to me. I know that you are Victor's godson.
Daniel: That's right.
Stefano: But--but I don't care. You do everything in your power to save his life.
Rafe: [Down on one knee] I'm beginning to think that this was a bad idea.
Sami: No. No, no, don't think that. It's just--it's one of the things I love the most about you, that you're handsome and smart and funny and kind, and-- and that you always want to do the right thing. Opposites attract, I guess. But Rafe, I mean... you--you can't know what you're getting yourself into. I mean, you--you really-- you really want to have a life with me?
Rafe: I do. Besides, I don't think that we're that different. I mean, obviously we have a different definition of what's right, but, uh, I think I could learn from you.
Sami: Get out of here.
Rafe: No, I'm serious. I gotta tell you, I knew when EJ came back with that baby, I said to myself, I said, "He did this. He did this so he could have this moment." I should have told you that.
Sami: I would never have believed it. I mean, I just didn't want to think he was capable of something that horrible. I mean, I have two kids with that monster.
Sami: Rafe, my life has been a mess up until now.
Rafe: Well, if it's any consolation, mine has been a drag.
Rafe: I want it to be a mess. I want it to be a mess with you. You make me feel alive.
Sami: I have to tell you, I don't know what--what my future's gonna be like. I mean, it--it could be awful.
Rafe: Who cares? We'll do it together, right? I want to be the man that is always there for you.
Sami: The smartest thing I've ever done in my entire life is fall in love with you.
Rafe: Um... yeah, well, uh, I believe I asked you a question.
Sami: Will I marry you?
Sami: Hell yes. [Laughing] Come here, come here. [Laughs as they lie down on the bed kissing]
On the next Days of Our Lives" --
Stefano: Whoever shot Elvis is gonna pay. Who did it?
Carly: He's coding. We're losing him.
Bo: Where were you last night?
