Philip: This baby is Daniel's. You have to believe that.
Chloe: Yeah, until someone tells me it isn't.
Philip: Hey, it's like I said, worst-case scenario, we raise the baby together.
Chloe: And try to live with what we did to Melanie and Daniel.
Nathan: Hey. [Clears throat] Everything all right? You guys...look upset.
Daniel: Thank you for meeting me.
Daniel: I need a woman's opinion on something.
Carly: Oh, Daniel, it's exquisite.
Daniel: Yeah, I thought it'd be the kind of thing that she could wear when we go to the opera.
Daniel: She deserves it. It's a big day tomorrow.
Carly: Is this your first birthday together?
Daniel: Well, first public birthday. And I get to tell people I'm gonna be a father.
Daniel: Yeah. I never told anybody this, but with Chloe's medical condition, we've been walking around on eggshells this first trimester. Now, to think that, you know, we can actually just relax and... and be happy now... what? What's wrong?
Stephanie: Okay, shift's changing. Maybe I have some time. What's her password? Test results. Hopefully Chloe's came in early. That way I know the baby daddy before she does.
Melanie: What are you doing here? What are you looking at?
[Chuckles] Pardon me.
Sami: No, it's okay. Really.
Stefano: Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for including Katherine in on the wedding plans. She's already at work calling up, you know, the florists and the caterers, et cetera, et cetera.
EJ: Uh, I said it was okay.
Sami: But we haven't even booked St. Luke's yet. I mean, we don't even have a date picked out, EJ.
Will: So this train wreck is really gonna happen?
Brady: I don't know. I don't know.
Nicole: You don't know? You don't want to do this? Well, I can do better than that.
Rafe: Guess what, Nicole. I'm sick of playing by the rules. You sure as hell don't. You're gonna help me nail EJ whether you like it or not. Yeah, this is Rafe Hernandez. You're surprised I had your number, huh? Well, I got more where that came from. I need your help.
Melanie: Why did you do that?
Stephanie: This is restricted access.
Melanie: Then why were you looking at it? What are you doing here?
Sami: Um, look, will, I told you that EJ had proposed and I had said yes. And we're living together already, kind of as a family. So we just thought it'd be great for the kids, you know, to make it official.
Will: Okay, you can sell yourself on that. Do not try and sell it to me.
Sami: Will. Will? Will, come on, listen.
Will: Are you gonna wear a white dress, mom? It's nice you're gonna do it in a catholic church too, because this is what, your 33rd time down the aisle?
Sami: Okay, stop it. I thought you understood.
Will: I will never understand you! Are you ready to spend the rest of your life with EJ DiMera? What, you think it's gonna work this time?
Rafe: Well, I was hoping you had some time to meet me. Because I need some help with Nicole DiMera, and your name popped up on the radar.
Chloe: We're upset for the same reason that you are. Hope Brady's sitting in a jail cell.
Philip: After trying to kill my brother.
Nathan: Yeah. No, right. Uh, I'm sorry I interrupted.
Chloe: No, it's okay. It's not a problem.
Nathan: I meant to call you. I mentioned to the head of the free clinics that titan might be interested in providing some funding for some of the new equipment at the new location. Is that--is that still cool?
Philip: Absolutely. You have my assistant's number, right?
Philip: Well, give her a call. We'll set up a meeting.
Nathan: Great. Thanks. All right, you guys take it easy.
Chloe: Yeah. Oh, my God, take it easy. Of all the people who could run into us.
Philip: I can't stand that guy.
Chloe: He knows that I slept with somebody else.
Philip: You told me.
Chloe: I thought for a minute that he'd figured it out.
Philip: If he had, he'd be running straight to Melanie right now.
Carly: I don't mean to get upset. I'm sorry, it's just too many hours on duty.
Daniel: No, no, no, it isn't that.
Carly: What are you talking about?
Daniel: I've seen you work 18 hours and go out dancing.
Daniel: Look, Melanie and I, we're a little worried about you.
Daniel: Yeah, this thing with Bo and hope, she says that you're blaming yourself for the whole mess.
Carly: Well, I am a part of it. Victor says I wreak havoc wherever I go. Maybe Victor's right.
Daniel: No, Victor, he's full of it. Look what you did for Melanie and me by coming back into our lives.
Carly: That's sweet, but you didn't always feel that way.
Daniel: Well, Melanie and I, we had a few angry days after you told us what you did. But that's over now. All right? No more lies. Everything's on the table.
Daniel: Okay, what happened?
Carly: What are you talking about?
Daniel: Some sort of curtain just dropped.
Carly: I can't-- I can't have this conversation. I'm sorry.
Stephanie: As a matter of fact, I am checking up on a patient here, because your father was involved.
Melanie: Right, the facial reconstructive surgery.
Stephanie: Yep, that's it. There was a lot of press about it, so P.R. Wanted me to get some more information. Where's that file?
Melanie: Oh. Um, okay. Sorry, you were just acting weird behind the computer.
Stephanie: Oh, that's okay. What are you doing here?
Melanie: I have a job interview. I'm meeting with the head of nursing here.
Stephanie: That is great. I hope you get it.
Stephanie: Yeah. I mean, this is a wonderful hospital. And wouldn't it be better not to work a hospital where both your parents are doctors?
Melanie: I like working with my parents.
Stephanie: Oh. I don't know, I get that thing all the time where they're, like, "your mom's a doctor, what happened to you?"
Melanie: Yeah, I should probably find sr. Anne's office before I'm late for my meeting.
Stephanie: Yeah. Oh, check on the first floor. There's an information desk. It's easy to get lost around here.
Melanie: Thank you.
Stephanie: Uh-huh. Bye. Exactly what I did not need just now. Okay...come on... where are those test results?
Rafe: [Sighs] Well, I was wondering if you were gonna show.
Victor: Well, I'm here. And how do you think I can help you with Nicole? If you have migraines, you know pain.
Sami: Okay, so I see that the hypocrisy of my life isn't lost on you. How come you weren't giving me a hard time about my relationship disasters when I was with Rafe?
Will: Because that was different.
Will: Because Rafe was different. That could have worked.
EJ: You okay?
Sami: Oh, yeah, that was a walk in the park in comparison to telling my dad and my grandma.
EJ: I'll go with you.
Sami: I can't see how that's gonna make it better.
EJ: Samantha, I'm going to be your husband. You don't have to do these things on your own anymore.
Nicole: Hey, why don't we take this somewhere a little more private? What? Wait, what are you doing?
Brady: No, not here. Get dressed.
Nicole: What's wrong?
Brady: Get dressed.
Nicole: What is wrong?
Brady: With what's going on here? Everything.
Caroline: I don't understand why hope has a public defender.
[Cell phone rings]
Caroline: Can't we afford to get her a good lawyer...a shark?
Roman: It's Sami. Hello, sweetheart.
Sami: Hi, daddy. Where are you?
Roman: Well, I'm at the pub with your grandma. Why?
Sami: That's great-- you're both together. I just have something I have to tell you both.
Roman: You know what, when you call me "daddy," you've either totaled the car or gotten a "d" in Spanish.
Sami: Si, sí, senor.
Roman: Okay, Samantha gene, what's going on here? Am I gonna hate this?
Sami: You just sit tight, dad, and I'll be right there.
Rafe: I have proof that Nicole has something on EJ DiMera.
Victor: Why do I care?
Rafe: You wouldn't enjoy seeing EJ get what's coming to him?
Victor: Well, your idea of what's coming to him and mine, I think, are two different things.
Rafe: How's that?
Victor: You'd like to see him lose Sami. I'd like to see him lose an appendage or two.
Rafe: Well, I won't deny I'm doing this for Sami. But...there's a lot more than that.
Victor: More how?
Rafe: I'm not at liberty to say.
Victor: Then you're wasting my time. Sometimes getting our kids to eat the way they should
Stephanie: Only Chloe would come up with a name like Dana Scott. She's definitely not a Dana Scott. Okay, "Scanlon, Schaffer, Scott!" Dana Scott. Put your password again. "Access denied." Says who? Come on, I thought this was gonna be easy. Oh...okay. I have to find out whose baby Chloe is carrying . If she blows up Philip and Melanie, Melanie will blow up Nathan and me. Think! Think, think, think, think... got it.
Philip: I can see why this clinic is free.
Melanie: We just opened.
Philip: You think that was a little premature?
Melanie: It doesn't take a whole lot to give flu shots and immunize kids.
Philip: Maybe you should give sr. Anne's office another call.
Melanie: I did. And I left a message with her secretary. I don't know why she wasn't there, 'cause I was only, like, a minute late.
Philip: So what should we do?
Melanie: I'm gonna get my clinic hours in, and you go be a media mogul.
Philip: Honey, this is a dangerous neighborhood. I'm not gonna leave you alone. I can't believe that program requires you to work here.
Melanie: You're right. They should put free clinics in safer areas.
Philip: [Chuckles] I'm not leaving you here alone.
Melanie: It's fine. I'm working with another doctor.
Philip: Anybody I know?
Nathan: Actually, yeah. I guess so. Hey.
Nathan: Um, I found some folding chairs in the storage closet. I figure we can make a little makeshift waiting area.
Melanie: Cool. Awesome. Thank you so much for the ride.
Philip: Well, wait a minute. You guys are gonna be working together on a regular basis?
Nathan: Uh, yeah. Do you have a problem with that?
Chloe: Hi, honey.
Chloe: Mwah. What'd you just hide?
Daniel: What" nothing. Nothing.
Chloe: I saw you hiding something. Thanks for coming to meet me. It was great.
Chloe: Aw, I'm sorry you had to go to the hospital for nothing.
Daniel: Oh, no worries. You know, it gave me some time to do some shopping.
Chloe: Hmm. Which you're not gonna tell me about?
Daniel: Actually, no. But I could show you. You know what, yeah. I'll let you open one of your gifts on the day before your birthday.
Chloe: Oh, yeah?
Daniel: I think I have it here.
Daniel: There you go.
Chloe: Oh, my God. It's beautiful.
Daniel: First present from his dad. Or her dad. Yeah.
Chloe: Daniel, it's-- it's beautiful.
Daniel: Thanks. You know, it kind of makes it real, doesn't it? I guess it's already real for you, but for me... I looked at that, and I just said, "now this is gonna belong to my child. Honey, what is it?
Chloe: I'm just-- I'm so happy.
Daniel: Yeah, I can tell.
Chloe: I'm sorry. You know what, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go to the ladies' room.
Daniel: Hey, sr. Anne.
Anne: Oh, Dr. Jonas. Hello.
Daniel: Oh, you can call me Daniel. What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?
Anne: Well, I can't stop for a little pick-me-up now and then?
Daniel: Hell yeah.
Anne: Actually, I got a call from the head nurse of obstetrics. There's a 15-year-old, and she's in labor. She's all alone, and she said that her mother was a regular here, so I found her and put her in a cab.
Daniel: No wonder you need a drink.
Anne: Well, I was gonna call your daughter to apologize for missing my appointment.
Daniel: Oh, no, no, no, no. You know what, I'll explain to Melanie. Yeah, yeah. You know what, why don't you sit down. I'm here with my fiancée, and I think you should meet her. Yeah.
Caroline: Well, whatever it is Sami has to tell us, I mean, how bad can it be?
Roman: Well, ma, let me put it this way. Sami and the kids are living under the same roof as EJ DiMera, and that roof is owned by Stefano DiMera.
Caroline: Yeah, I see what you mean.
Sami: Hi, dad, grandma.
Caroline: Uh, Sami, whatever it is you have to tell us, does it have to be in front of him?
Sami: Yeah. Actually, it does.
Rafe: Okay, okay, I'll tell you what I've got. A theory. A suspicion.
Victor: Ah, that celebrated hinky feeling that law-enforcement types get when they got nothing.
Rafe: I'm 99% sure that EJ hired Anna DiMera to kidnap his own kid and hide her from Sami.
Victor: Why would he do that?
Rafe: Why? Because then when he stages the whole miraculous baby showing up thing, the guy looks like a hero, that's why.
Victor: So he did it for love?
Rafe: I think he did it for revenge, but... then changed his mind.
Victor: What a putz.
Victor: So how does Nicole figure into all this?
Rafe: Well, I overheard Nicole and EJ making a truce. And I have evidence that indicates she knows what he did.
Victor: But you can't do anything with that. That's the difference between your world and mine.
Rafe: Yeah, and Anna DiMera's dropped out of sight. Even if she were to surface, she's so damn scared, I don't think she'd say a thing.
Rafe: So I need Nicole to roll on EJ.
Victor: But let me venture a guess here. She doesn't share your interest in seeing justice done.
Rafe: Well, I'll break her if I have to. I was just hoping you might be able to tell me something that would help me.
Victor: And why should I lift a finger to help you? What's in it for me?
Stephanie: Ian! Come in!
Ian: Wow, nice place.
Stephanie: Thank you. Thanks. Uh, thanks for making time for me.
Ian: Sure. I haven't even seen you since, what... oh, the benefit dance at the hospital.
Ian: Yeah, you were wearing that hot red dress, and you were with Victor Kiriakis' son.
Stephanie: Yeah, that's all over now.
Ian: Oh, really? So is that why you called me?
Stephanie: Um...listen. I...have a favor to ask of you.
Chloe: Oh, my God, the nun from St. Mary's. I'm so dead.
Philip: [Chuckles] I'm just surprised, that's all. I mean, when I saw you earlier, we were talking about funding for the clinics-- you didn't talk about this. You didn't mention you were gonna be working here.
Nathan: Oh, yeah. I guess I thought it was understood.
Melanie: [Clears throat]
Nathan: I didn't know you were scheduled today.
Philip: Ah, kind of picks up your whole day, huh?
Melanie: [Chuckles] Okay, now you know who I'm working with, and it's a friend, so you have nothing to worry about.
Sami: So, grandma, daddy, um... I've decided to accept EJ's proposal.
Caroline: But I thought--
Sami: Yeah. Well, uh, before you say anything, I should make sure that you know that I'm happy. And I hope you can be happy for us.
Roman: To him? Are you really sure about this?
Sami: Dad, if I wasn't, I wouldn't have said yes.
Roman: Well, then you really have lost your mind.
Sami: All right, if you're gonna be like that, dad, then we're just gonna leave. We don't have to stay here.
EJ: Just wait a second, okay? I understand why they're acting this way. It's because they love you.
Roman: And we both have really accurate memories.
EJ: I understand how you feel. I do, okay? You love Samantha. I love Samantha. More than I could ever imagine that I would ever love anything. And I want what is best for her, just as you do.
Roman: And you think that's you?
Rafe: I know about your little arrangement with Stefano DiMera. It keeps the families backed off. Now, you seriously think that EJ signed up for that?
Victor: I couldn't care less. You still haven't told me why I should help you get Nicole.
Rafe: Well, if I can put Nicole away, then she can't get her hooks into your grandson.
Will: Oh, sorry. I didn't realize you were in here.
Stefano: Oh, William, wait, wait, no, don't go, don't go. I know that you are not happy about your mother marrying Elvis.
Will: Yeah, I'm sorry. I know he's your son, but... I just can't get into what they're doing. I mean, no way.
Stefano: Can I let you in on a little secret? I had trouble getting into it myself, at first.
Will: You changed your mind?
Stefano: Yes, I have.
Stefano: Part of the reason is you.
Stefano: Mm-hmm. Well, you see, look, my son and your mother, they have made a lot of mistakes. But yet, look. Look at the children that they've created.
Will: You're--you're proud of me?
Stefano: Absolutely. I want to be a part of your future, William. See, I believe in the power of family that heals old wounds. William, I believe in the power of family...period. You see what I'm saying?
Will: Yeah. I think I do.
EJ: Look, I think I have some idea of how you must be feeling.
Roman: I don't.
EJ: Right. Well, I wouldn't have, up until recently. But now I have a daughter. And if I'm lucky, one day she's going to grow up to be just like her mother. So one day men will be falling all over her. I'm sure she'll fall in love with one of those men. Maybe he won't treat her very well, the same way that I did not treat your daughter... very well. And if it happens, I'm quite sure I'll want to rip his head off. So I thought about that. And I also thought about something else. I thought about, well, what if Sydney grows up, and she sees her father treating her mother with respect? You know, recognizing that she's beautiful and she's intelligent. Maybe Sydney will look at that relationship...and she won't accept anything else in her life. You see, I've grown up a lot. And I really am ready to be the man that your daughter deserves.
Caroline: Uh-huh. So you think you're the best thing for Sami? Well, I disagree.
Roman: Uh, listen... EJ, ma, do me a favor. Let me talk to Sami alone.
Sami: Actually, I have a problem with that. Because I didn't come here asking for your permission or your blessing. I've made my decision. And now EJ and I have to go get our marriage license. Bye.
Rafe: Well, maybe you don't care about what EJ does to Sami, but I know you care about Brady. And if Brady finds out what Nicole did to Sami and her baby, he's not gonna give her the time of day. I'm assuming that pleases you.
Victor: All right, I'm not gonna tell you what to do, and I'm not gonna help you.
Victor: But Nicole likes to make everybody think that she's tough as nails. But like everybody else, she has an Achilles' heel. You get to that, you'll get to her.
Nicole: Okay, what is wrong with you? We were about to make love.
Brady: You know what was going through my head just now? That this'll get me through the night, and then I'll just get through tomorrow morning somehow.
Nicole: Well, you're making it sound like I'm some sort of--
Brady: Like you're some sort of drug. That's kind of what sex is with us, Nicole. It's like the next high, you know? Why do you think I came to your apartment the other night?
Nicole: No. No, you came-- you said you loved me, and that I was the only one.
Brady: Baby, I'd have said anything.
Nicole: [Scoffs] No. It could have worked, until you found out about the money.
Brady: It's not about the freakin' money. What?
Nicole: Oh, my God, you're drinking now? Is that why you're talking to me like this?
Brady: No, no, no, this stuff is not the problem. This is good. You're the problem. And one way or another, I've got to kick the habit.
Carly: Hey, Daniel.
Daniel: Hey, Carly. Yeah, I wondered where you rushed off to. Have you met sr. Anne?
Carly: Yes, we have. It's nice to see you again.
Anne: Thank you.
Carly: I'm sorry I ran out on you like that. I just remembered that I had to take Ciara to a brownie meeting. And then I got to the car, and I didn't have my glasses, and... and they're right here. I'm sorry I interrupted.
Anne: Oh, you didn't. I have to get back to the hospital. It was so nice to see you again, Daniel. And I'm sorry I didn't get to meet your fiancée.
Daniel: Yeah, me too, me too. Some other time.
Anne: Well, I hope she's as nice as you are. Dr. Manning.
Carly: Sister. So what's a nun doing in a bar?
Daniel: Well, she's reaching out to an errant soul.
Carly: Plenty of those around.
Carly: Listen, I'm sorry about the meltdown.
[Cell phone rings]
Daniel: Hold on a second. Dr. Jonas. Yeah. You know, I'm just a couple blocks away. I'll be right there.
Daniel: Yeah. You know, Chloe, she's been in the bathroom for a long time. So could you go just check on her, make sure she's all right?
Daniel: Great. And, you know, tell her that I'll meet her at home.
Carly: You got it.
Carly: Well, that was close. Just one more day. Chloe? Look, everything is okay. But we need to talk before you go home.
Stephanie: Do you still work for that software company?
Ian: Um, yeah.
Stephanie: So you're still great with computers.
Ian: Um, as great as I was the day I hacked into the college's mainframe and said that you fulfilled the P.E. Requirement.
Stephanie: Uh, yeah, well, don't forget, I did things for you too.
Ian: I know. So is that what this is really about...your computer?
Stephanie: Sort of.
Ian: Okay. Well, boot it up. If you can.
Stephanie: So cute. It's a little more complicated than that.
Ian: How complicated?
Stephanie: Well, before I tell you all about it, I need to know if you're in. Are you gonna help me?
Ian: Is he your boyfriend?
Stephanie: If he's my boyfriend, is that a problem?
Ian: Well, it depends on what it is you want me to do.
Rafe: If Nicole's got a weak spot, I need to know what it is.
Victor: You know about her history as a porn star?
Victor: You find that distasteful, Rafe, hmm? I'm sure you'd prefer her to have a B.A. From Sarah Lawrence.
Rafe: Well, actually I was just hoping you were gonna tell me something that I didn't already know.
Victor: Well, how about this. The person that launched her in her cinematic career was dear old dad.
Rafe: Oh, man.
Victor: Yeah, Fay, she really could pick 'em. So inside Nicole is a broken little girl. She says that she liked to pretend that her real father was not her father, that there was this other great guy running around out there looking for her. She kept looking for that guy... this knight in shining armor.
Rafe: Does she think Brady's him?
Victor: She might. He says he's over her. Before she gets him to change his mind, you need to make your move. Convince her that you're that white knight, and that you can help her. Then she might give you what you want. Then I'll owe you one. A big one. But we never had this conversation.
Nicole: You can't just throw me out.
Brady: What are you suggesting...moderation? You think that works for a guy like me?
Nicole: I love you, Brady, and I know you love me.
Brady: You know what, you don't know anything. For instance, do you really think that I bought that load of crap you gave me about where you got the money?
Nicole: It's true.
Brady: I don't care where you got the money. I don't care where you spend the money. I don't care about you. You're not leaving.
Nicole: Not until you've listened to me.
Brady: I'm not listening to you, Nicole. I'm done listening to you. I'm done.
Brady: I'm done!
Nicole: Brady! Damn it!
Melanie: Hi. Are you here to see a doctor?
I need something.
Melanie: Okay, well, here we just do, like, checkups and stuff, so...
Don't tell me no, bitch!
Stephanie: I need to access some hospital records.
Ian: Um, you work at the hospital. Aren't you, like, in charge of the records?
Stephanie: No. No, I'm not in charge of the records. But even if I were, it's a different hospital.
Ian: Oh. Well, then, I have to ask what kind of records?
Stephanie: Paternity test.
Ian: Stephanie, you have a right to those results, okay? He doesn't even need to know that you had the test done.
Stephanie: Ian, I'm not the mother.
Ian: Well, then, why-- actually, I don't even want to know why.
Stephanie: Yeah, I think it's for the best. Just like I didn't need to know the details about when I helped you back in college.
Ian: Point taken.
Stephanie: Mm-hmm. So are you gonna help me or not?
Carly: Listen to me. I don't want you to worry. I covered for you.
Chloe: Like you've done so many times before. Thank you for everything you've done for me.
Carly: We both want the same thing, Chloe.
Chloe: Yeah, for the test to prove that this is Daniel's baby.
Carly: Yeah. So we'll go to St. Mary's together, okay? I'll pick you up first thing in the morning.
Daniel: First thing in the morning? What are you two up to now?
Brady: Philip, how you doing?
Philip: Hey, before you start, it's 5:00 somewhere, okay?
Brady: You know what, I wonder-- I wonder who came up with that rule about the 5:00 drinking thing. I mean, come on, by dinner you'd be bombed, right? Brian. What's up, man? I'll have exactly what he's having.
Brian: You got it.
Brady: So what are we celebrating? Being the king of the world, having it all? What's up?
Philip: Something like that. You don't usually drink.
Brady: Yeah, but you know, the booze is not my problem. And I promise to swear off everything that is.
Philip: Hmm. Cheers.
EJ: Well...that was a big surprise. The Bradys are a little less than thrilled with Samantha's news. I think it's fairly safe to say they will not be throwing us an engagement party.
Stefano: [Chuckles] Let me give you a little hint, all right? I think that you may-- better get yourself a little under control before you see Samantha again, because that smile of yours could be interpreted as smug.
EJ: Really? You know, when I think about agent Hernandez' reaction to this news, "smug" just doesn't quite seem to cut it.
Stefano: Be careful. Elvis, be careful. You know, Hernandez may not be deterred simply because you have posted the bans. As a matter of fact, I mean, what would happen, huh, if either he or Samantha were to find out that you arranged the kidnapping?
EJ: No, no, no, no, no. Not in this house.
Nicole: Damn it, EJ! But I thought-- I thought when you told your dad what you did-- that you... you stole your own child-- that I finally had you. That this-- this put me in the driver's seat. Instead, it just ruined everything good I had in my life.
Rafe: Well, Victor, you said to strike when she's vulnerable.
Chloe: I think that Daniel should know the truth.
Hope: I'm going to prison.
