Henderson: It is a waste of your time calling this number. You will never get a comment from anyone in this house.
Vivian: Oh, these vile, vile headlines about hope. The press is predatory. There's no question about it. The paparazzi are camping everywhere. I had to cut my ride short.
Henderson: How tragic.
Vivian: I'll have my breakfast in here, Henderson, and please tell the cook that I want a three-minute egg, not a three-hour egg. Mr. K. Didn't call? Well, I know he's devastated, but he shouldn't be out there alone. He should be coming to me, his wife, to share his grief with his soul mate.
Brady: Yeah, 'cause you're such a source of comfort, aren't ya?
Vivian: That'll be all, Henderson. I know you have a constitutional right to be a petulant child, but must you express it in front of servants?
Brady: Vivian, bite me.
Victor: Get the hell out of here, you pack of jackals! Can't you have them arrested or something?
Bo: Well, no. As long as they're across the street. You know, freedom of the press and all that.
Victor: Well, I didn't come over here to discuss the first amendment. I want to know when the hell you planned on telling me about hope.
Hope: Why are you bringing me back?
Hope: Bring me back to my cell.
Abe: I'm sorry. It's not your call. Bring her in here.
Will: So EJ asked you to marry him.
Sami: And I said yes.
Sami: That's it? That's your whole reaction?
Will: What kind of reaction do you want?
Sami: An honest one.
Will: Come on. We know that is the last thing you were looking for.
EJ: Look, there's something that I need you to know, father. I asked Samantha to marry me... and she said yes.
Rafe: [Scoffs] It's not gonna happen, pal.
EJ: Uh, no. No, we haven't set a date, and I would appreciate it if you don't say anything to her. She would just like the time to be able to talk to will and the twins. Yes, as you so romantically put it, father, I do not want you to spook her. Okay? But this is it. This is done. This is happening. Nothing you can do about it.
Sami: Look, will, I don't mind if we fight, but I hate the passive-aggressive thing.
Will: Well, I kind of hate you acting like what I think matters, when it obviously doesn't.
Sami: You matter to me. The twins and you and Sydney, you all are the most important things in the world to me.
Will: You know what, mom, I'm gonna be honest with you.
Will: You have never put your kids first before. Do not start now. Not for EJ.
Vivian: I know you don't like that Victor married me.
Brady: Well, I don't think he does, either.
Vivian: But don't you think for his sake, since you are freeloading in his house, eating his food, and being waited upon by his servants, you could be a little more civil?
Brady: Do you care about my grandfather at all?
Vivian: He's my soul mate.
Brady: "My soul mate." That's bull. That's bull. You know, my grandfather, he doesn't love that many people in this world, but the people that he does love, he loves fiercely. He loves me.
Vivian: And you use that to your advantage.
Brady: He loves Bo, and he loves hope. She branded me, and she tried to immolate Bo. His whole world is crashing down right now, and all you can think about is you.
Victor: That's not true.
Brady: You know, I think one good thing is gonna come out of this horror. With his family in freefall, my grandfather is gonna take a good look at you and realize that he's been wasting his time and energy on you. And, hopefully, he'll finally kick your ass out of here.
Bo: You know, I get it. You can't handle sadness or any other emotion besides anger, so you're gonna charge around, yelling at people. Well, I can't take it. Not today.
Victor: I'm so sorry, Bo.
Bo: Yeah. Me too. They said, ah... it was like she was a different person. She looked at me with such venom and anger in her eyes, it's... it's like I didn't even know her.
Victor: It wasn't her, Bo. It was the pills.
Victor: Look, we're gonna take care of her. We're gonna get her through this. I mean, you and hope, you got like, what, 300 people in your corner.
Bo: She does.
Victor: Oh, come on, now. Don't start that. This is no time for self-pity.
Bo: No, it's no self-pity. It's... it's the truth. I'm responsible for what happened.
Abe: I've been in touch with the D.A.'S office. They say you still don't have an attorney of record.
Hope: I don't need one. I'm not gonna waste the court's time and money. I'm pleading guilty.
Abe: Not without counsel, you're not.
Hope: Damn it, Abe!
Abe: We'll order a competency hearing.
Hope: You're not my lawyer! You're my victim.
Abe: Actually, hope, what I am is your friend.
Hope: Abe, please, think of yourself. Think of the station. I can't get any special treatment. I can't get a free pass because of who I am, or because of who I know.
Abe: Damn it. Hope, I'm not talking about a pass. I'm talking about a fair trial with a competent attorney who will present a valid and totally justified affirmative defense.
Hope: Nothing justifies what I have done! I poured gasoline all over the father of my children! I would have lit the match, Abe! I would have done it!
Abe: Under the influence of prescribed medication.
Hope: Okay, you know what? Fine, and maybe you can jam that down the jury's throat, but how do you think my children are gonna feel? Bo's children? How do you think they're going to feel? Sometimes getting our kids to eat the way they should You were right. So be it.
Vivian: You should treat your grandfather's wife with a little more respect. Although I suppose I should be a little more sympathetic, since your life is in shambles again, and if you need to take it out on me, so be it.
Brady: Wow. Boy, I would really hate it if you were right. See you around, Viv.
Vivian: Well, he is right about one thing. I probably should attend to Victor in his hour of need.
Victor: That is nonsense, Bo. This is not your fault.
Bo: Yeah, it is.
Victor: It's Carly's fault.
Bo: One thing I can say about you, you're consistent.
Victor: Good God, man, can't you see it, even now? She tried to destroy hope so she could have you to herself. Carly manning is a plague, a virus.
Bo: You know what? Think what you want. I'm not gonna change you. But blaming Carly, that's not gonna help hope. And helping her and my daughter is all that matters right now.
Maggie: First sensible thing I've heard either one of you say yet.
Abe: I don't know how your children are going to react.
Hope: They'll hate me. Look what I've done to Ciara. I said she lied, I betrayed her. I...I betrayed her over and over.
Abe: So why stop now?
Abe: After everything that little girl has been through, what could be better than to watch you throw in the towel? Just give up! No lawyer, no defense, just complete surrender. Oh, and... what a legacy she'll have... of concrete proof that you don't give a damn about her.
Lexie: Abe, stop it!
Hope: He's right... about everything. He's right.
Sami: What is that supposed to mean?
Will: That it seems to me that the only reason you're even thinking about marrying EJ is because he is Johnny and Sydney's father.
Sami: Okay, that is not the only reason. EJ and I have grown very close.
Will: You're both... I mean, you're not like you were before. And you're so--you're so damn polite all the time.
Sami: Isn't that a good thing?
Will: No. No, it's not. And I don't want to talk about this anymore. I don't want to talk about you and EJ.
Will: I think we should talk about you and Rafe.
EJ: Hey, listen, I need to get in to see hope Brady.
Officer: I can't let you do that.
EJ: You better. Otherwise, Roman's going to find out about our little arrangement.
Officer: She's in with the mayor right now. How soon can you get here?
EJ: A few minutes. Well, hope, it's time you and I had a little chat, I think.
Lexie: Abe, would you give us a minute alone, please?
Lexie: I'm sorry. He tends to get a bit dogmatic when he's upset.
Hope: He's right.
Lexie: Oh, honey. We can talk about right and wrong another time, okay? Look, I'M... I'm so sorry I can't stay. Um, Ciara and Theo have a play date. Hope, honey, you need to take care of yourself for all of our sakes, but mostly for your baby girl, for Ciara. Okay?
Hope: Wait. Tell Abe I heard what he said.
Lexie: Okay. Oh, honey.
Hope: Kiss Ciara for me. Tell her I love her. Oh, God.
Bo: Didn't hear you come in.
Maggie: I wonder why, with Victor bellowing like that. I came by to see how Ciara is.
Bo: She's not here. She's over at Doug and Julie's.
Maggie: Okay. And how is hope?
Bo: Not good. Having trouble getting through to her. She won't talk to a lawyer, she won't let me help her.
Maggie: Well, don't let her push you away. She is really not in any condition to make any big decisions.
Bo: Yes, I'm aware of that. Um, I'm headed down to the station right now.
Maggie: Well, don't let us keep you.
Bo: I'm outta here.
Victor: Bo, you get the best lawyer you can. Tell them to bill me.
Bo: I don't need your damn money! Sorry.
Victor: It's all right. Been a rough morning.
Bo: Yeah. Um, what I meant to say was, uh, thank you, and I love you too. Maggie, thanks for coming by. Uh, I'll give hope your love. Please lock up when you leave.
Maggie: I will. Very rough morning.
Victor: Sometimes my son and I have trouble communicating.
Maggie: He said, "I love you too." He knows why you came over.
Victor: Maggie, Bo and hope, I just... I just misjudged everything. I figured they'll get through it. They always do. I was wrong. I was arrogant and wrong. Well, you gonna pass up an opening like that? I just admitted I was wrong. Aren't you gonna say something?
Maggie: Yeah. Let's go for a walk.
[Cell phone rings]
Maggie: Is that your phone?
Victor: Phone? What phone?
Vivian: All right, Victor, don't answer, but thanks to modern technology, I am now your own private stalker.
Ciara: I'm not lying. Mommy is.
EJ: Hello, hope. Think it's about time you and I had a chat, don't you?
Sami: Rafe and I are over.
Will: But you still love him, right?
Sami: We can't spend two minutes together without fighting.
Will: That wasn't the question.
Sami: Will, EJ and I are compatible.
Will: So are Dwight and Angela.
Sami: Who? What?
Will: Uh, the office?
Sami: You think you're funny, don't you?
Will: I think you're lying to yourself.
Rafe: You idiot. All you needed to do was prove the Anna/EJ connection. That's it. All you needed was proof! Proof!
Victor: She lived in my house.
Maggie: She was my niece, Victor, and I didn't even know what was happening.
Victor: Well, thank you for taking pity on me. Kept wanting to call, stop by.
Maggie: Oh, hell. I didn't take pity on you. I wanted to be with you, to tell you my troubles.
[Laughs] Are you smiling that smug "I always win in the end" smile? You are, aren't you?
Victor: No. No, I'm smiling my "I'm glad to see my old pal" smile.
Maggie: Victor, I'm scared for her.
Victor: I know.
Maggie: She could have killed Bo.
Victor: I know.
Maggie: That's just not like her. I just don't know... [Crying] I don't know what happened to that little girl on ice skates.
Victor: It's okay, Maggie. It's okay.
Vivian: [Thinking] Are you kidding me?
Sami: Must be nice to be 17 and know everything about everything.
Will: All right, I know you, and you're telling yourself that everything's gonna be hunky-dory with EJ, because...
Will: You know, I shouldn't even be talking to you about this. You're my mom, I'm a dumb kid.
Sami: I hope you don't think I'm doing this to get back at Rafe.
Will: I don't want to talk about this.
Sami: Okay. Let me just be clear that this has nothing to do with Rafe. I am marrying EJ because he has changed. Because he is being honest with me, totally honest.
EJ: Hope, are you afraid of me? Interesting. I mean, you'd think it would be me who would be afraid of you, right?
Hope: EJ, all I can say is I truly am sorry.
EJ: For what? I mean, it's quite a list, isn't it? So I hear you had a chat with Arianna.
Hope: How did you get in here?
EJ: Oh, I'm sorry. Am I imposing, hope? Did I cross a line? Hmm?
Hope: I think you're wasting your time. You're trying to make me feel bad, but you can't make me feel any worse than I already do.
EJ: Well, let's see about that, shall we? See, I'm sure, detective, that, uh, all of your other victims are more concerned about, uh, not being invited to the Horton Christmas party than anything else. I'm sure they're just lining up to say, "let's let bygones be bygones." But not me. See, I remember. I remember what you did to me, and I remember what you did to my father, so a... a break from tradition. Today, I'm straight law and order. I want to make sure you pay for what you did.
Bo: No, no. Don't you threaten my wife.
Ciara: Is my mommy gonna be here?
Lexie: Um, no, sweetheart. Today's just the four of us. Why don't you go play with Theo? He's all by himself.
Abe: And make sure you stay where I can see you. How does she seem to you?
Lexie: Uh, well... water?
Abe: Thank you.
Lexie: It's hard to tell. I mean, I d-- I don't know what she knows. Um, what she understands.
Abe: And it's only gonna get worse.
Lexie: Yeah. Remember, um, how we were talking about if, uh...
Abe: If we have enough love for another child?
Lexie: Yeah. We know one who's definitely gonna need it.
Maggie: Sorry about that.
Victor: No, please. Seemed like a totally appropriate response to me.
Maggie: What hope doesn't need is me falling apart at the drop of a hat.
Victor: Well, you won't when she needs you. I'll tell you what. You take care of hope, and I'll take care of you.
Maggie: I think you're pushing your advantage here.
Victor: Well, maybe you're right. Why don't we, uh, finish this over coffee?
Vivian: You better not say yes.
Maggie: You know what? That sounds nice.
Vivian: You were warned to stay away from what was mine. Now I'm going to have to teach you a lesson.
Bo: What the hell you doin' here?
EJ: That's funny. That's what your wife said.
Bo: Hysterical. Go, now.
EJ: Yeah. I said what I came to say. So you just remember, you haven't got the Horton-Brady get-out-of-jail-free card. Not this time. I'm going. Jerk. How the hell'd he get in here?
Hope: You shouldn't be here, either.
Bo: I stopped in to pick up some paperwork, heard him harassing you.
Hope: What? After what I did, he should be more polite to me?
Bo: He shouldn't be in this room at all.
Hope: He has every right to tell me off.
Bo: Oh, yeah? Him leading such a blameless life and all, the son of a-- I better go.
Hope: Bo, that paperwork, is it the file on my case? Not a good idea.
Bo: I think it is.
Hope: No. You should keep your distance. It could look bad for you to--
Bo: I don't give a damn how this looks. It's the last thing I'm worried about.
Hope: I don't want you to be hurt even more.
Bo: Let's not worry about me. Let's keep focused on you. Um, I saw Maggie. She sends her love. Um, she said she's gonna go visit Ciara. She wishes she could see you.
[Knock at door]
Brady: Hey. I'd like to talk to her.
Bo: Whoa, this isn't a good time.
Hope: That's okay. I'd like to talk to him. Please.
Bo: Go easy.
Hope: I don't know what to say. I truly... am so sorry.
Brady: I thought maybe you should talk to somebody who understands.
Sami: Would you stop apologizing? You're entitled to your opinion.
Will: Hey, I want you to be happy.
Sami: Marrying EJ's a big deal.
Will: Can we not talk about that, though? I'm in way over my head. [Laughs]
Sami: Okay. One thing, though.
Will: You're about to talk about it some more, aren't you?
Sami: No, uh... no, I just wanted you to know that I'd like you to keep it to yourself. We're not telling anyone yet, and, um, I wanted to be the one to tell you, so I'm trusting you to keep it to yourself, okay?
Will: Yeah. Uh, well, I actually have to get over to the pub now. You sure you don't want to come?
Sami: No. No, thanks. I think I need some time all alone.
Will: Okay. Um, you know, if you really want to be all alone, maybe you, uh, shouldn't get married.
Sami: Smart aleck! Course, he's probably right.
[Sighs] And he's probably not the only one who's in over his head.
Rafe: Ah. If it isn't ms. Brady.
Rafe: Well, I hear congratulations are in order.
Abe: Ciara seems like she doesn't have a care in the world.
Lexie: Yeah. She seems to find Theo's matter-of-fact way of life, um, comforting.
Abe: Well, he does help you focus on what's really important. What matters.
Lexie: Yeah. I'm sure it's hard for hope to see right now, but, I mean, the kind of person that she is, the kind of friend she's always been, she's just... she has a whole network of friends and people who would love to help Ciara get through this.
Abe: That's what I learned from Mrs. Horton. Family doesn't mean just the people you're related to.
Lexie: Ah! Thank God for that, huh?
Abe: You know, life is weird.
Lexie: Abe, I'm always struck by your profundity. I mean, "life is weird." How profound! My goodness! You're so deep.
Abe: Well, yeah. Look, I just know that we had some bad times, but now with Bo and hope going through all this, I feel like you and I are strong. Real strong.
Lexie: Me too.
Abe: Like we're ready to think about more than Theo and ourselves, expand our horizons.
Lexie: You know what? I think that we are more than ready.
Hope: Be so much easier if you just yelled at me.
Brady: You feel like you deserve it, right? And then when everyone's done yelling at you, you take over the job yourself.
Hope: My family just want me to say it was the pills.
Brady: And yet they glide over the very reason why you needed the pills in the first place, right?
Hope: Just wanted to sleep. Wanted to escape. Not feel what I was feeling.
Brady: Yet those feelings, they always come out somehow. I'm not gonna stand here and pretend that I have the answers, hope. God knows I've... I can screw things up, but I wanted to say to you... damn it, I'm not too good at this, sorry.
Hope: Say what?
Brady: Just watch out for that voice that says you can't come back. It's pretty hopeless.
Hope: Look what I've done.
Brady: Fine, but look at everything you've done. Look at the people you've hurt, fine. But you gotta look at the people that you've helped too.
Hope: I certainly haven't helped you and Arianna.
Brady: That--that's not your fault. That was in the cards.
Hope: Wasn't in the cards for you to end up with Nicole.
Man: Whoa, dude, you okay?
Rafe: Oh, I'm fine. Frickin' terrific. Really.
Man: Yeah, I can tell. Whoa!
Sami: I want to talk to you.
Rafe: Oh, my God. What are you doing here? We have nothing to talk about.
Sami: Oh, yes, we do!
Man: I'm gonna go to the shooting range where it's a little quieter.
Sami: You said congratulations. What were you talking about?
Rafe: You are getting married, right?
Sami: If I am, what's it to you?
Rafe: Nothing. Just means you're out of your ever-loving mind. You are certainly not the woman that I fell in love with.
EJ: I'll get it. Bo, what can I do for you?
Bo: If anything happens to hope, if you or any of the DiMeras do anything to retaliate against her, I will kill you. any feelings.
Maggie: You know, ahem... earlier, at Bo and hope's, you said you were wrong.
Victor: Oh, I knew you weren't gonna let me forget that.
Maggie: Well, I was wrong too.
Victor: You? Never.
Maggie: Well, I asked you to stay away from me, and you did, and, um, I missed you.
Victor: Well, I missed you too.
Maggie: I still don't think that you should talk derisively about, "Vivian's me," and I don't think you should intentionally set out to hurt her feelings.
Victor: Oh, she doesn't have any feelings.
Maggie: Oh, that's exactly what I'm talking about. She is your wife. You have to respect that.
Victor: Well, how about if I pretend to respect her when I'm around you? Can we be friends then?
Maggie: That's what I realized, you know. We didn't stop being friends. We just didn't see each other. That kind of defeats the purpose of having friends.
Victor: You know, I'm not a very spiritual man.
Victor: But I think that friendship is a gift from... whoever's in charge up there. You know, the Greeks used to think that refusing a gift from the Gods was hubris. I mean, if we're gonna help each other through the crap, I mean, isn't it arrogant not to simply enjoy each other's company?
Maggie: Unh, I hate saying this. It's just gonna encourage you, but I think you're right.
Vivian: Oh! Thank you for meeting me here.
Gus: Did I have a choice?
Vivian: Ohh! That red-headed harridan has done it again. She's lured him into her disgusting world of aprons and-- and doughnuts and tea cozies and-and-and tiles on the wall with mottos about friendship and rag rugs and Americana and Christmas ornaments with their names on it.
Gus: Madame, focus, focus.
Vivian: Focus, focus, right. Focus, oh, God. You're right. She just gets under my skin. [Sighs]
Gus: I see that.
Vivian: Well, she doesn't know what she's up against. I gave her fair warning. She blew it, and now she has to pay for it.
Brady: Don't give up. That's all I wanted to say to you. Do not give up. And now that I've completely told you how you should live your life, I'm gonna go out there and continue to make a mess of mine.
EJ: Bo, we, uh... have security cameras. It's probably not a good idea for the police commissioner to be threatening a private citizen.
Bo: Do you really get your kicks by pushing around a woman who's holding on by a thread there, Junior? And does it make you feel like a man?
EJ: I see. Hope gets some kind of special consideration, does she? Why? Because she's fragile? How's Dr. Manning, by the way?
Bo: I meant what I said.
EJ: Well, I hear you. If I do anything to Hope, I'm going to incur the wrath of the man she tried to set on fire.
Bo: I don't want to see you at the station again, unless, of course, you're in handcuffs.
EJ: I thought my relationship was strange.
Sami: Okay, here's the thing. I... I didn't want you to know about it yet. I wanted to figure out a nice way to tell you myself.
Rafe: Cool. Let me down easy, huh?
Sami: But I'm glad you know.
Rafe: Well, you seem real happy.
Sami: I'm glad you know, because now you will have to accept that we are over and that I don't care what you think about me or what I do or what I say. It doesn't matter to me.
Sami: Don't turn your back on me!
Rafe: Wow. This is so like you right now. I'm out of your life, we're over, but you want it both ways. You still want my undivided attention.
Sami: I want you to acknowledge that you did this, that you pushed me away.
Rafe: Mmm, right into EJ's waiting arms.
Sami: Well, he accepts me. He doesn't expect me to live up to some sort of code of conduct.
Rafe: A code of conduct? Are you kidding me right now? He's conned you, and you can't admit it, so you're blaming me for it.
Sami: He has not conned me. He loves me, I love him, and we are gonna live happily ever after!
Rafe: Do you love him? You really love him?
Sami: Yes, I do!
Rafe: Do you? I don't think you do! I think you're lying to yourself, and I can prove it.
Stephanie: If Melanie's marriage falls apart, I am gonna lose Nathan for sure.
Maggie: What's going on between you and Melanie?
Sami: We need to talk.
