Hope: What am I going to do with you, Brady?
Nicole: [Sighs] Hmm, maybe if I dim the lights, this place won't look like such a hovel. Hmm. Voila! A badly-lit hovel. [Scoffs] Oh, yes, now I get to slip into my $200 nightie and sleep alone in a room that looks like the Addams family guest room. Oh, how I love my life. [Sighs] You prove Arianna is innocent before Brady does, and I keep my little tape to myself, and no one will hear you admit that you kidnapped Sydney. Deal?
EJ: [Inhales, exhales] Deal.
Nicole: Oh, you're gonna pay through the nose, EJ. Then I am gonna put this place far behind me.
Nicole: Well, Mr. DiMera. You are smart.
Disguised voice: I need to meet you.
Nicole: Dream on, buddy.
Disguised voice: Do you want a story? Drug bust, dirty cops?
Nicole: Who is this?
Disguised voice: Not on the phone. Meet me.
Disguised voice: The pier. Now.
Nicole: I'll be there.
Rafe: I won't.
Sami: Believe me, EJ, no one is more surprised than I am that I--well, that I, you know--
EJ: That you can trust me?
Sami: [Laughs] I mean, it wasn't too long ago that I was so grateful to have the witness protection program so that I could hide my pregnancy and the--and the baby from you. And now, looking back, I can't summon up any of those feelings.
EJ: Right. Remember? You were so angry.
Sami: Vaguely. Something about wanting to take all my kids from me.
EJ: Yeah. You know, I think I knew even then that what I was doing was wrong. I mean, you had every reason in the world to think that your life and our children's lives would be better without me.
Sami: Well, we've both had a lot to answer for.
EJ: No, just me. I'm the one who... did things, you know? Who needs to ask for your forgiveness.
Carly: I should call Hope.
Roman: Carly, look, Bo's okay. I think we should let Ma and Hope, uh--well, what I'm trying to say here is if we call them, they'll be here all night, and there's no need.
Carly: Are you sure?
Roman: I'm absolutely sure. I don't want to tell them the details right now.
Daniel: Hey, it's okay.
Carly: No, it's just--it's horrible. I mean, I can't even think about it.
Abe: Thank god you showed up when you did, Daniel. No doubt about that. Bo is a very lucky man.
Hope: I loved you so much. [Kiss] That, my dear... was the kiss of death.
Maggie: [Laughs] Hello, Victor.
Victor: Oh, listen, I hope I didn't wake you.
Maggie: No, I was wide awake.
Victor: Oh, I'm glad. Listen, I just finished the plans for the, uh, Mickey Horton scholarship foundation, and I'd really love to show them to you. I know it's late, but I'm really keyed up about it.
Maggie: Come on over, Victor. I'm looking for a good spreadsheet.
Victor: All right, I'll be right there.
Rafe: That was so easy. Well, if I were Nicole's deepest, darkest secret, where would I be hiding?
Sami: Who are you, and what have you done with EJ DiMera?
EJ: It's not funny.
Sami: Oh, come on.
EJ: Look, Samantha, you still have every reason to be on your guard around me.
Sami: I don't feel that I do.
EJ: I'm a DiMera.
Sami: I know that. But you're not the same kind of DiMera as Stefano. I mean, I kept telling you you didn't have to follow in your father's footsteps, and look at you. You--you actually did it. You've changed. You're--you're your own man.
EJ: You have no idea how much it means to hear you say that.
Sami: Well, you earned it.
EJ: But it's not just who I am, is it? I mean, it's also what I've done.
Sami: EJ, what are you talking about?
Carly: My residency, I was a tiger. I was out to prove to everyone that nothing could get to me, that I was an "a" number one tough cookie.
Daniel: I can only imagine.
Carly: And then I hit my E.R. Rotation. It was a car accident. The gas tank blew up. Burn victims. And I fell apart. I'd never seen anything so horrible.
Daniel: He's okay. Bo is okay.
Carly: Daniel, whoever doused him with the gasoline, if you hadn't been there to find him--
Daniel: But I was. Okay, Carly? I was. Come on.
Abe: So that's why you didn't want Hope down here.
Roman: Well, if you wanted proof positive that Carly really does care about Bo, there it is.
Abe: Hope is Bo's wife. Her house almost burned down. Now don't you think that gives her the right to know?
Roman: I'll tell you what I know. Whoever did this to my brother meant business. It was personal and meant to be permanent. Hope's been through a lot. I'm not gonna wake her up and tell her somebody tried to torch her husband. Not until I know more than I know now.
Abe: Well, you are right. It was personal. But what I keep asking myself is who could possibly hate him that much?
Hope: The air bubble in your I.V. Won't be as slow and painful as I had planned. But you will end up dead... and that's all that really matters.
Vivian: There you are, Victor. I thought you might like a nightcap. I picked up some private reserve Greek brandy.
Victor: I can't. Meeting.
Vivian: Obviously the meeting's so urgent, you can't even put verbs in your sentences.
Victor: Don't wait up for me.
Vivian: Wait a minute. What is this meeting about? I know that you've given all the day-to-day responsibilities to Brady and Philip.
Victor: Yes, and there's an interesting documentary about these giant pythons that have invaded Florida. I think you'll find it interesting.
Vivian: Oh, thanks. So the heirs have the day-to-day responsibilities, and you take on the late night meetings.
Victor: Vivian, don't go there.
Vivian: You're going to Maggie's, aren't you?
Victor: Yes, I am. And it's none of your damn business
Nicole: Is anyone here?
Rafe: [Exhales] Okay. Oh. Well, at least if I'm not gonna be part of your life, I can keep you away from those damn DiMeras.
Sami: All right, EJ, why don't you tell me about this terrible thing you've done.
EJ: The ransom, that was a hoax.
Sami: Uh, what do you mean?
EJ: I mean, our baby is dead.
Sami: EJ. What's wrong?
EJ: I was just thinking. You know, ever since... we've known each other, it seems that I've always been keeping something from you, conning you one way or another.
Sami: Yeah, well, we've both grown up a lot since then. Look, when I told you that I trust you, I didn't mean to bum you out.
EJ: Samantha, in the time that I've known you, you have made me very angry and you've made me very happy, but I can assure you, you've never bummed me out.
EJ: I'm just remembering when I moved in across the hall from you.
EJ: I came in with this wonderful plan to exact revenge against your family. I didn't anticipate it would have one rather fatal flaw. I fell in love with you the moment I saw you.
Sami: Yeah, that always happens with me.
EJ: And you had no idea. You didn't even see me.
Sami: Come on, EJ. We both know that's not true.
Bo: [Groans] What are you doing?
Vivian: Oh, Mr. Grumpy grump. I think you need to sit down and have a nice relaxing drink.
Victor: Oh, good god.
Vivian: Oh, now, I think your shoes are pinching you and you need to sit down and let me bring you a brandy.
Victor: Really, Vivian? Do you think you can divert me by talking to me like I'm seven?
Vivian: Well, that's the way you're acting. "It's none of your business. I don't have to tell you anything." I'm your wife, Victor. I'm your soul mate.
Victor: My penance for past sins.
Vivian: There is no reason for you traipsing around in the middle of the night. Oh, I know. Maggie has presented herself as this grieving, lonely widow, and I love the lochinvar part of you that wants to save her, but I hate seeing you used and manipulated. And I'm sure she is so helpless. "Oh, Victor, all these numbers are just so confusing." Well, she doesn't have to worry about that anymore. I've taken care of it. You can stay home now and let Vivian make your dreams come true.
Victor: What's this?
Vivian: It's a business plan for Mickey Horton's scholarship fund. I've taken care of everything, Victor. Everything.
Sami: Come on, EJ, no false modesty. You can't act surprised.
EJ: Oh, no, no, I don't think attraction was the problem.
Sami: Me neither.
EJ: Well, no, I mean, everything was a problem, but that, you know--
Sami: Yeah. But that is all in the past tense. We have worked through all our problems now, and we get along great, and our kids are upstairs, sleeping peacefully--
EJ: Thank you. Did you have to say that?
Sami: I don't know. I know better. Why would I say that?
EJ: I have no idea.
Sami: I'm sorry.
EJ: I've got it.
Sami: No, no, I'll--all right, you can do it. She likes you better than she likes me anyway.
EJ: No, she doesn't like me better. She knows me better. And we're fixing that, right?
Nicole: Yeah. Someone called me from this number. A pay phone? What? Yeah. Thanks. Son of a bitch. I was set up. Did you ever think that something like this would force a truce between us?
EJ: No. I never thought anything could force a truce between the two of us, and neither will anybody else, so we need to keep this a secret.
Rafe: [Groans] This is pointless. Maybe not.
Victor: You did this.
Vivian: Well, uh, I just wanted to take some of the stress off of you.
Victor: Interesting, how you structured the capital investments, staggering the payments for the fiduciary outlet.
Vivian: Well, I'm just bad for staggering.
Victor: This is crap work, Vivian, and you didn't do it. You hired it done. You don't even have any idea what's in this thing.
Vivian: Okay, so sue me. Is this a crime? I just wanted to have some time with my husband. We're living here like brother and sister, for god's sake. I could make you happy, Victor. Happier than that redheaded cow. Oh, I didn't really mean to say that.
Victor: But you did. And I'll never forget it.
Nicole: So I get this call telling me that there's a drug bust, so I find out it's from a pay phone and I call my source down at the station, and he said that there's nothing going on. So why would they try to get me all the way down at the pier in the middle of the--oh, my god. It's a trap.
Rafe: Hmm. Well, Nicole, what do you got for me?
Sami: Seriously, that is so not fair. She just likes you better than me. She's daddy's girl.
EJ: No, I think she just spends a little more time with me.
Sami: I guess so.
EJ: Samantha, she adores you. You're her mother, all right? Just give it a little bit of time. Things will smooth themselves out.
Sami: Okay. Ooh, I gotta get the twins' lunch ready for tomorrow.
Sami: You want something?
EJ: I'm good, thank you.
Sami: All right.
EJ: I know, I know, I know. I know what I did. But I'm gonna make it right. We're going to be together, just one big, happy family.
Hope: I'm doing what I should have done a long time ago.
Bo: Why...Hope, why?
Carly: I'm not sure roman is right. I think I should call Hope.
Daniel: Well, let's see what Bo says, okay? He should be waking up soon.
Carly: Hey, are you awake?
Abe: You think this is a separate crime. It has nothing to do with the muggings?
Roman: It's a completely different M.O. Domestic scene, drugs, gasoline.
Abe: He fits the profile of the victims, and serial criminals escalate.
Roman: Abe, it's got to be personal, believe me. It has to be.
Hope: [Exhales] He looked me right in the eyes. He knows I tried to kill him.
Carly: Want me to call Hope?
Bo: She--she was--
Carly: Daniel, Daniel, code blue. Get the crash cart, stat!
Daniel: Crash cart!
EJ: Now what?
Nicole: I'm on the pier.
EJ: I don't care.
Nicole: On a wild goose chase, and you know what? It just occurred to me that maybe I should remind you if anything happens to me, your life as you know it is over.
EJ: I had nothing to do with this, Nicole.
Nicole: That better be true, because if you mess with me, EJ, the whole world will know your dirty little secret, and Sami will never let you see Sydney ever again.
Sami: Oh, great. What did Nicole do now?
Rafe: Okay. What the hell does this mean?
Sami: I could tell by the tension in your shoulders and that look on your face it was Nicole, right?
EJ: Yeah, it was Nicole.
Sami: So, what did she want?
EJ: Oh, uh, the usual. Just to bother me.
Sami: Well, that doesn't make any sense. I mean, she should stay as far away from you as possible if she knows what's good for her.
EJ: Well, that's her problem, isn't it? I mean, she doesn't know what is good for her.
Sami: And why did you even answer the phone?
EJ: Do you trust me?
Sami: EJ, of course I trust you--I told you that. It's Nicole I don't trust.
EJ: Okay, well, then just trust me to handle the situation, okay? I will deal with Nicole.
Sami: I just don't understand why she would call you. I mean, even she has to see that it is not a good idea to push you.
EJ: Well, she's jealous.
EJ: Jealous. Of us.
Hope: Is something wrong?
Woman: Hey, Mrs. Brady. Ciara didn't want to go to bed till you got home.
Hope: I'll take her up.
Hope: You can go. Good night.
Woman: Good night.
Hope: Sleep well.
Woman: I will.
Hope: Lucky you. My beautiful girl. I love you... more than anything in the world. And I want you to know that I did all of this for you.
Carly: No. What the hell happened? He was stable! What's going on?
Daniel: All right, we'll do it again, all right? Clear!
Carly: Oh, god, please help us, please.
Daniel: You know what? I think I know what's wrong.
Vivian: Oh, god. I'm a fool. Gus, I'm a fool for love. He laughs at me, he scorns me-- I love him more.
Gus: Like Ava Gardner in show boat.
Vivian: I mean, I've made fortunes. I've swayed the thoughts of kings, and he compares me unfavorably to a restaurant hostess and a hospital volunteer.
Gus: It's just not right.
Vivian: It's galling. It's infuriating. Put another nickel in the machine, Gus. It's time to make the music easy and sad.
Gus: Perhaps we should think about going home.
Vivian: Get your meat hooks off my martini.
Gus: I'm very, very sorry.
Vivian: Oh, no, no, I know. I know you were just thinking of what's best for me, but I can't help it. I'm in his thrall. [Sighs]
Gus: Madame, if I may. I think you should remember who you are.
Gus: And what you're capable of doing. Are you really gonna take it laying down?
Vivian: I'll take it sitting up in a canoe if that's what he wants. Oh, I know, I know. That's--that's not what you meant.
Gus: I mean this with great respect, Madame. I think it's time that Mr. Kiriakis and his little candy striper found out exactly who they're dealing with.
Victor: I'm sorry I'm late. You know, it seems lately I can't get out of my house without a couple of scenes of high drama.
Maggie: So Vivian was upset you were leaving?
Victor: Oh, actually, it's not high drama. It's more like a 30s gangster movie. You know, Vivian as the gun moll. Remember that scene with jimmy Cagney when he shoves the grapefruit into Mae Clark's face? I could go for that one again.
Maggie: Oh, Victor, please don't talk about Vivian like that to me.
Victor: I'm not gonna talk about Vivian at all. The Mickey Horton scholarship foundation. Now this is a very good start, but I still need input from you for a couple of items.
Maggie: We're--we're not gonna talk about the scholarship either. We're--we're gonna talk about us.
Sami: So you think Nicole is jealous of us too?
EJ: Oh, it's crossed your mind as well? Good.
Sami: Yeah, I mean, everything she went through to be with you and live in this house and raise my child?
EJ: I mean, we have every single thing that she wanted, and she cannot stand it.
Sami: Of course, there's one important difference. She was your wife, and I'm your houseguest.
EJ: Samantha, even if that were true--
Sami: Well, it is.
EJ: Well, look, I'm not getting into that conversation with you right now. The point is that Nicole is not able to make that distinction, right?
Sami: Well, you're certainly right about that. [Sighs]
EJ: What are you thinking?
Sami: Nothing. I was just wondering if there's anything Nicole could ever do to make me forgive her?
Sami: No. You know what? I, um, I want to go look at Sydney and watch her sleep for a little bit.
EJ: Oh, I'll go with you.
Sami: No, no. Um, if it's okay, I'd like to just have some time alone. You know, I'm very behind in the parent popularity poll. I thought I would go for some subliminal messaging. See you later.
EJ: Damn you, Nicole. Nobody is going to find out what I did.
Rafe: Oh, Nicole. Did you come up with this code all by yourself? 'Cause it's gonna take that dude in cryptoanalysis about two seconds to--
Rafe: Say "yes" to savings!
Maggie: I didn't ask you to come over here tonight because the foundation has some kind of a deadline. I said it was okay because... I can't sleep. I'm kind of blue, and you--
Victor: Maggie, those are all perfectly good reasons to say okay. We're friends.
Maggie: Well, maybe we shouldn't be.
Vivian: [Groans] I'm afraid, Gus.
Gus: You, Madame? Never.
Vivian: I know you're wondering, who is this quivering mass? I have no pride, no strength.
Gus: You've had three martinis.
Vivian: He's my guy. He's the captain of my fate. I mean, what can I do?
Gus: I really think we should be taking you home.
Vivian: Mm... no. No. I'm going to Chicago. Get me a car. I'm going to Chicago.
Gus: You know what? That's not a bad idea. Give him a day or two when he doesn't know where you are. Let him remember that Vivian Kiriakis nee Alamain is a strong, independent, capable woman.
Vivian: He has a favorite store of his there. Greek store. I think I'll just get him all his favorites and woo him with moussaka.
Gus: Good lord, who is this woman and what's she done with Madame?
Vivian: Oh, I think the woman you knew died the night she spent her wedding night alone. Maybe it was one of those other awful nights when I was waiting for his footfall in the hallway. There I was, alone in my bed, a virtual nun... while she's having coffee with him across town. Maggie Horton. She's getting on my nerves.
Gus: If that's true, Madame, don't get sad. Get even.
Nicole: [Sighs] Someone's been here.
Sami: EJ. I saw a new dress in Sydney's closet. Do you know where it came from?
EJ: [Grunts] Yes. That was supposed to be a surprise. Not anymore. I arranged for a photographer to come tomorrow to take a family portrait.
Sami: Come on, you know how much I've been wanting to do that.
EJ: I know. And I got new outfits for everybody, for Sydney, and Johnny and Ali. Oh, and I also got will to wear a suit, if you can believe it.
Sami: Will. My son will has agreed to be in a family picture?
EJ: Mm-hmm. I told him that it would mean a lot to you.
Sami: And then you bribed him.
EJ: No. He thought it was a good idea, actually. And I hope you don't think I've gone too far, but I've also--
Sami: No, you haven't. Oh, sorry.
EJ: It's okay. I also--I got you something, you know, that would match everybody else's outfits.
Sami: Well, thank you. Did you pick something out for you?
EJ: No, I mean, you know, just because I thought it was a family portrait, so...
Sami: Right. It is. And you're Johnny and Sydney's father. You should be in it.
EJ: Great, I'd love to-- actually, I do have something that I could wear.
Sami: Somehow I thought you might.
EJ: Yes. Just in case.
Daniel: All right, he's stabilized now, thank god. He's responding to treatment.
Carly: I can't put this off. I have to call Hope. [Sniffling]
Hope: I needed to protect you. Zack died because daddy didn't care. All he cared about was that daughter he had with Billie. And your brother died because of that. And then I almost lost you. All because your father handled everything the same way... like he knew everything. Like I wasn't even there. I tried. And now I don't know what's going to happen, Ciara.
[Cell phone ringing]
Hope: So... Bo told Carly what happened. And now they're coming for me. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Ciara.
Nicole: So, EJ, the trip to the pier wasn't to get me alone. It was to get me out of here. Let's see how bad it is. It's still here. No damage. Reporters get false leads. It happens all the time. Everything's fine.
Rafe: Yeah, so call me as soon as you get this. I'm gonna figure this out. And then you are going down, DiMera. In flames.
Sami: I can't believe you arranged a family portrait for me. I mean, I have been wanting to do that so much, and Rafe had even said... I'm sorry.
EJ: No, no. Don't be sorry. I mean, you can mention his name, Samantha. I mean, he was a big part of your life.
Sami: Right. Not anymore.
Sami: Well, I have a big day tomorrow. So I should probably go upstairs and get some beauty sleep.
Sami: Good night.
EJ: Hey, just-- wait a second, would you? Just before you go. Good night.
Sami: Right. Good night.
Victor: You can't be serious.
Maggie: I am. You're married, Victor. I mean, you said yourself how upset Vivian gets when you come here.
Victor: Who cares?
Maggie: I do. Now Victor, you... I have to do what I think is right.
Victor: There goes that thing that I don't get.
Maggie: No. You know exactly what I'm talking about. You know I'm right. I think from now on--
[Cell phone rings]
Maggie: You need to talk to my lawyer about the foundation.
Victor: It's the hospital. Kiriakis. I'll be right there. Bo's been hurt seriously.
Maggie: Oh, my god. Oh, I'm going with you.
Roman: Well, should we state the obvious?
Roman: I always wanted to be a DiMera.
Abe: I know.
Roman: Doesn't fit, though, does it?
Abe: No. It's not the DiMera M.O. They kill with regret, not relish.
Roman: If not them, who?
Hope: [Sighs] This is good-bye.
Carly: Hey, shh, it's okay. It's okay. You're back. You scared me to death.
Carly: Hey. You got a tube down your throat to help you breathe. Okay, just relax. No, Bo. Stop, stop. Bo. Stop it! You stubborn man.
You really want to tell me who did this to you, don't you?
Nathan: I'm moving in with Stephanie.
Justin: Bo's in the hospital. He was attacked.
Carly: Do you remember who did this to you? Did this to you?
