Stephanie: Goodness, you finally made it.
Kayla: Yes, I did. I just wish it would have been for a happier reason.
Maggie: Oh, honey, I'm so sorry you had to come back so soon.
Melissa: Oh, Mom. Don't be sorry. I'm so glad to see you. To be here. Has there been any change?
Maggie: Well, Hope and Jen are upstairs with Alice now. It changes every day.
Melissa: No, not for the better, I assume.
Maggie: No. Oh, Melissa, this morning, she took another turn.
Melissa: Oh. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
Baker: What was I supposed to do, all right? Brady was this close to figuring out I was the one that stole the money clip.
Nicole: But drugs and alcohol--
Baker: Hey, the roofie knocked him out and blew away his memory. You know, I just poured a little booze down his throat to make it look good.
Nicole: To make it look good? God, you are so stupid. He is an addict. You could have destroyed his life.
Baker: He is?
Baker: Well, forgive me for thinking about my life at the time. It was--it was survival, okay? Don't forget, if I get caught, you get caught.
Nicole: [Sighs] I just, uh... I felt so awful... seeing him in that-- that hospital bed bombed out of his mind, barely able to speak at first. Oh, my God, Baker, I almost told him the truth.
Baker: What stopped you, Nicole?
Arianna: Look, um... I know this is hard to talk about. But if you went on a bender or if you did drugs…
Brady: That's not how it happened.
Arianna: Brady. I need you to be honest with me, please. If you slipped, it's okay, you know? It was just, it's one time, it's over now. You don't have to protect me by saying something that--
Brady: I didn't slip! Oh, my God. You don't believe me, do you?
Melanie: I'm surprised you called. I don't--I told you I'd be at the wedding. I just, I need to know what time I'm supposed to--
Daniel: You know, actually, there's been a problem. The wedding's been put on hold for a while. Maybe--I don't know, maybe indefinitely, I don't know.
Daniel: Yeah. And you're happy about that?
Melanie: No. No, I'm not happy. I--it's-- yeah. A little.
Chloe: Father Matt.
Father Matt: Chloe, I just listened to a telephone message from Daniel. You lied to him again, Chloe. You told him the only reason I wasn't performing the marriage was because of some problem with the annulment from Lucas?
Chloe: Father, I am so sorry. I tried to tell him the truth, but I couldn't.
Father Matt: Chloe. You're piling one sin on top of another. I will not be part of this. Do you understand?
Chloe: Oh, my God. Please. You're not gonna tell Daniel that I slept with Philip, are you?
Brady: Why won't you believe me, Arianna?
Guard: Time's up, miss.
Arianna: Uh, I gotta go, Brady. I'm sorry. Take care of yourself, please.
Nicole: [Sniffles] I couldn't tell Brady the truth about us... and what we're doing to Arianna because... because I just love him so much.
Brady: You got a hell of a way of showing it.
Nicole: Oh, damn it, Baker! Don't you have one ounce of compassion for what Brady is going through? All those years of sobriety, all of that work destroyed in a heartbeat.
Baker: I told you, Nic--
Nicole: I know what you told me. You wanted to stop him, and who cares how you did it? Well, I care. So you listen to me. If you hurt Brady like this one more time, I will want your head on a platter, and I think you know when I want something, I get it!
Maggie: Well, it's been like Grand Central Station around here. So many people wanting to come and see her. Sometimes she just sleeps through the visits. And other times, she says a few words and she smiles.
Melissa: Well, maybe, maybe I should go up now. I don't know what to say.
Maggie: Then take a cue from your grandma. As they said, she may be asleep. And if not, she'll hold your hand. And you won't have to say anything.
Alice: Now you listen to your old grandmother. You will find your happiness too. You will.
Melissa: If you say so.
Alice: I do.
Melissa: Grandma, I love you.
Alice: Oh, my darling, darling, I love you.
Melissa: [Sniffles] Yeah. Even if I just hold her hand, she'll know. She'll feel my love, right?
Melissa: [Sobs and sniffles]
Kayla: I wish your father or Joey could come, but--
Stephanie: At least you're here. I've missed you so much.
Kayla: Same here, baby. I can't believe I'm actually looking at your face. Not some stupid computer screen.
Stephanie: Hey, I wanna come visit soon. And I, I will, I promise. I have to see Papa and Joey.
Kayla: We would love that. Joey's always asking about you.
Stephanie: Oh. Such a sweetheart.
Kayla: I tried to explain to him that, you know, you've got a job here in Salem, and it's not so easy to get away.
Stephanie: It's not. Especially with Nathan. You know, he's just going through a lot right now, and I wanna be there for him.
Kayla: So things are getting pretty serious with you and Nathan, huh?
Stephanie: Yeah. Mom, he's such a great guy. He makes me so happy.
Kayla: Well, that makes me happy.
Stephanie: Not that there haven't been any problems.
Kayla: Well, there always are. So long as you can work through them.
Stephanie: Yeah. And we did. We worked through one in particular that I didn't think we could.
Kayla: You want to tell me about it?
Stephanie: Mm. I just did something really stupid and almost screwed things up for good.
[Knocking on door]
Nathan: All right. Whoa, whoa, what-- what are you doing?
Brady: I'm leaving.
Nathan: Hey, well, give yourself some time to rest, man. First of all, you need it, and secondly, you need to re-hydrate after the drugs and alcohol.
Brady: I did not use drugs or alcohol last night.
Nathan: Come on, man, the blood work says otherwise.
Brady: I don't give a damn what the blood work says, Nathan, all right? I don't care what anybody says in this hospital. I did not go on a tear last night. Is that clear?
Brady: There's only one person that needs to know what happened last night, one. And no one's stopping me from seeing her tonight.
Daniel: I thought you were fine with the wedding.
Melanie: I am. I'm-- I sort of, I--
Daniel: Sort of.
Melanie: Okay. Yeah, I-- you're not gonna want to hear this. I can't shake this feeling that Chloe's gonna break your heart. And it's not anything you did. You haven't done it, it's just I tend to look on the darker side of things.
Daniel: Got that. Hey. Here's what I want you to know, okay? Yes, Chloe and I, we've... yeah, we've been through a lot. But we're, we're solid. All right? Things are fine.
Melanie: Then why's the wedding postponed?
Daniel: You know, it was some problem with Chloe's annulment from Lucas and, you know, she's absolutely set on having Father Matt do the wedding. In a church, in front of God and that whole... and that whole thing.
Melanie: Well, that--that sounds sweet, actually. That's good because you, you deserve the best.
Daniel: Well, I've got it. I've got the best daughter. And soon I'm, you know, I'm gonna have the best wife.
Father Matt: Chloe. I would never reveal anything that you tell me during confession.
Chloe: But what if Daniel starts asking you questions? I know that you're not gonna lie for me.
Father Matt: Well, actually, we may have caught a break here. I have to go to Chicago for a couple of weeks for a retreat. Then I have a meeting with the bishop.
Chloe: When are you going?
Father Matt: My train leaves in an hour.
Chloe: Oh. So Daniel won't be able to ask you about the annulment.
Father Matt: Chloe. Whether I'm in Salem or not doesn't matter. What matters is that you face facts.
Chloe: I know, I know. I just, I look him in the eyes and I can't find the courage to tell him.
Father Matt: You seem to feel that you have a choice in the matter, Chloe. You don't. You must tell Daniel the truth.
Kayla: So am I gonna hate hearing what this mistake is?
Stephanie: No. No, I-- just mean that-- the thing is, I got a little insecure. A lot insecure, and I just started pushing too hard, and that's not good.
Kayla: No, usually isn't.
Stephanie: Anyway, I realize that yes, I want Nathan to love me and I want it to be forever, but it has to happen the right way.
Kayla: What's the right way?
Stephanie: Well, no pushing, you know, into traps.
Kayla: Traps? That doesn't sound like you, Stephanie.
Stephanie: Yeah, things got a little weird there for a minute.
Kayla: So where did all this desperation come from?
Stephanie: Well, that's easy. Melanie Layton. Now Melanie Kiriakis.
Kayla: You're worried that Melanie's gonna ruin your relationship with Nathan.
Stephanie: She's been known to screw up my life every chance she can get. There's Nathan.
Kayla: Oh, hi.
Nathan: I know this woman.
Kayla: Yeah, you sure do, hi. Good to see you.
Nathan: It's good to see you too.
Stephanie: When's the last time you saw my mom?
Nathan: Oh, man, I was a teenager, I think. How have you been, Dr. Johnson?
Kayla: I'm great. I'm great.
Kayla: My flight got in just about an hour ago. What about your mom, how is she? Is she here yet?
Nathan: Yeah, I think she's with my great grandmother now.
Maggie: Well, how did it go?
Melissa: It was good. She, she was awake. And she smiled at me. And I got to talk to her. Anyway, when she heard that I hadn't seen Nathan yet, she, she said real quiet, almost like a whisper... not to waste a minute.
Maggie: Well, bless her heart.
Melissa: I'm so glad I'm gonna get to be here and spend some time with him.
Melissa: And Stephanie. It's really good they're together, don't you think?
Maggie: Yeah. They're well-suited, yes.
Melissa: That other girl, what's her name?
Melissa: Yes. Oh, she was trouble. She was trouble.
Melanie: [Laughs] I'm a--I'm a bad-- oh, I'm gonna make you some of my good coffee.
Daniel: Ah, no, no, that's okay. I've heard about your coffee making/cooking skills--
Melanie: Eh, no.
Daniel: Yeah, I'm good. You know, aside from telling you about the wedding, I am here for another reason. Maggie.
Melanie: She's not here.
Daniel: I know that. She's at the Horton's.
Melanie: Right. She lives there kind of now. She would if she could. [Laughs]
Daniel: And you don't get to spend a lot of time with her. I mean, since you don't want to intrude and all.
Melanie: I'm not really a part of that family. And Nathan's probably there. And the last time I ran into Nathan, it didn't go over very well.
Daniel: No? No. Well, you know what, I talked to Nathan earlier this morning at the hospital, and he said he's going to the pub to see Stephanie and her mother, so...
Daniel: I don't know, now might be a good time to drop by and just check on Maggie. You know, maybe we could go together, I don't know.
Melanie: Did you plan that? Did you, did you make it so that I could see Maggie?
Daniel: I think I know how much she means to you.
Melanie: Wow. Cool. That's-- I can't believe you were thinking about me, with all the drama with Chloe and your wedding and everything.
Daniel: Hey. You are my daughter. Okay?
Melanie: I am. I am your--and you are-- you're the best dad ever.
Daniel: Come here. Come on.
Nicole: Brady checked himself out? No way. Oh. He shouldn't have done that.
Nurse: Jane, we need to redo the X-rays on Chloe Lane. First ones weren't clear enough.
Father Matt: You know it's the right thing to do.
Father Matt: You said Dr. Manning already knows about this. The truth is bound to come out, as it should.
Father Matt: Good. I won't have a phone at the retreat. But you'll be in my prayers.
Chloe: Thank you.
Father Matt: Now Chloe... be strong.
Nathan: Well, when you're an intern, you do what they say.
Kayla: Tell me about it. But hey, listen, you know, I talked to other doctors that I used to work with here, and the word is that you are building a strong reputation.
Kayla: Yeah, I'm serious, really.
Kayla: Keep up the good work.
Nathan: I will try. Okay, Mom's on her way. She said to have a coffee ready for her. Grandma doesn't make it very strong. I'll be right back.
Kayla: Hmm. I like him. Handsome, smart.
Stephanie: Brady family seal of approval?
Kayla: I think so. I hope that it works out the way you want it to.
Stephanie: It will. I'm gonna make sure of that.
Maggie: Ah. Well, look who's here. I thought I heard voices. Hey.
Melanie: Hi, Maggie.
Maggie: Hi. I'm glad you're here. Hi, Daniel.
Daniel: Maggie. How's Mrs. Horton doing?
Maggie: About the same. Melanie, would you-- I was in the middle of making some lemonade. Would you mind finishing it for me and bringing in some glasses?
Melanie: I will--yeah, I'll go do that for a little while.
Maggie: I got your message. It sounded important.
Daniel: It is.
Maggie: So what do you need to see me about?
Daniel: Well, I've, I've got some news. About your illness.
Brady: Hey, what's up?
Arianna: You should be in the hospital.
Brady: I'm fine.
Arianna: Your eyes look bloodshot.
Brady: I am fine.
Arianna: I'm really worried about you. You've been clean for so long, and then you had to go out one night and get so wasted, you end up in--
Brady: I didn't do it! Why won't you believe me?
Nicole: So the elevator just fell? How far?
Chloe: Too far. That's all I know.
Nicole: Oh, my God, that must have been terrifying.
Chloe: It was. But luckily, I'm okay. The doctors say as long as there's no bleeding that I can be released in a few days.
Nicole: I just, I can't believe this is the first I've heard of it.
Chloe: It's okay, it wasn't that long ago.
Nicole: I know, I just, that I've been, I've been so caught up in my own stuff, I haven't even checked the news, let alone called into the station.
Chloe: Well, if you didn't know what happened, why are you here?
Nicole: You're not gonna be happy about this, Chloe. I found Brady down on the pier last night. I, I brought him to the hospital. He... he had drugs and alcohol in his system.
Chloe: What? Oh, my God. Why, why would he do that to himself? After all his hard work?
Nicole: I don't know, I don't know, I-- the weird thing is, is he, he said he didn't do it. Someone did it to him.
Chloe: Isn't that every drug addict's excuse?
Nicole: I don't think so. I believe him.
Chloe: Why would you? Unless you know something, right? Nicole. What else is going on?
Daniel: That medication switch that we tried... all right, bottom line... it worked. Your mg is in remission again.
Maggie: Oh, dear God! Oh! Oh, thank you, Daniel. Thank you so very much.
Daniel: Oh, hey, you did all the work, come on.
Maggie: This is the best news you could've given me today. Because now I don't have to worry about staying here and taking care of Alice full-time.
Daniel: Oh, I mean, that's fine but, but are you sure you wanna push yourself like that?
Maggie: Oh, yes. I want to be here for her. Like she always was for me.
Melissa: Hey, handsome.
Nathan: Oh. There she is.
Melissa: Hi. Oh...
Nathan: Oh... you have no idea how good it is to see you.
Melissa: I was gonna call your cell. I wasn't sure if you were working.
Nathan: Now I'm on break. Guess what?
Nathan: I got a surprise for you.
Melissa: You do? Really? What? [Gasps] Kayla. Oh, my God.
[Both talking at once]
Kayla: Oh, God, how long's it been?
Melissa: You weren't supposed to come in till tomorrow, I thought.
Kayla: Well, I came in a day early. I can't believe I'm actually seeing you. This is crazy.
Melissa: So long. Oh, my goodness.
Kayla: Look at--
Melissa: Oh, we have so much to catch up on.
Melanie: Hey, I didn't put too much sugar into it because I know-- where's Daniel? Is he upstairs with Alice?
Maggie: He left. He thought I'd like to tell you the news myself.
Melanie: What news?
Maggie: I'm in remission. The medication they're giving me is doing the trick.
Melanie: What? Oh, my God. Oh, my God, oh, my God! I'm gonna spill it. Okay, let's call people.
Maggie: No. No, no. No, no, not right now, honey. No, you'd better wait.
Maggie: I'll tell the people who knew about it and... right now, it's about Alice.
Melanie: Right. Right. I'm--you-- I'm so sorry. This must be so hard for you.
Maggie: I'm fine.
Melanie: I wish I could stay here and help you out, like you always help me.
Maggie: You are here, sweetheart.
Melanie: I know. I can't stay, though. I'm like poison in this house.
Nicole: What I know is, I can't put my finger on it. I mean, Brady's demeanor, how upset and angry he was, but he is positive someone did this to him.
Chloe: But why?
Nicole: He has been looking into the case against Arianna trying to prove her innocent. Anyway, it's not a slip.
Chloe: I hope not. I mean, my God, when he was doing cocaine--
Nicole: I know.
Chloe: All this stress with Arianna getting arrested, I don't know.
Nicole: Oh, twit. She's the worst thing that could have happened to him.
Chloe: Well, look on the bright side. If she does go to prison, then maybe Brady will turn to you. Then at least one of us will be happy.
Arianna: Are you saying that you don't remember how it happened or that it didn't happen?
Brady: I'm saying I didn't do it. I don't know who did. I don't know how they did it, but listen to me. I didn't do it.
Arianna: Brady. I mean, I don't-- are you, are you-- do you think that I'm gonna feel responsible, that--that if you tell me it's because--
Brady: Why aren't you listening to a word I'm saying? I don't understand.
Arianna: I'm listening to you. You're not listening to yourself. You need to admit what happened. Get yourself into the program--
Brady: No matter what I say, you're not believing me, are you? Wow. Wow. The shoe's on the other foot, isn't it? Isn't it? This isn't about some split second flicker that maybe caused a little doubt. This is you saying, "Brady, I really don't believe a word you're saying." Sounds like a real ending to me.
Kayla: And then with this devilish look in her eye, she would say, "Come on, Kayla, honey. Let's go for it."
Melissa: Well, that was her mantra, wasn't it?
Kayla: She was always up for a little adventure. And she always had your back.
Melissa: Yes. And she never ever forgot how important it is to be with the ones you love.
Melanie: It's okay, Maggie. I don't blame anyone for thinking I don't fit the Horton picture.
Maggie: Now listen to me. Are you listening? The Hortons are definitely wonderful people. But they're just like us. They're a long way from being perfect.
Melanie: Could have fooled me.
Maggie: Now trust me, Melanie. They have their problems, just like all other families. So I don't want you to feel like they're judging you. And if they are, they shouldn't be. No one should. You are a lovely person... with a kind and a good heart. And they should be very proud to have you around just like I am. You lift my spirits, my darling girl. Just by being you.
Arianna: This isn't about what I believe or what I don't believe. This is about taking care--
Brady: I don't wanna talk about this again, okay? I--look, I made a mistake.
Arianna: Okay. Then get back into rehab--
Brady: No, no, I stumbled for one second in my total belief in you, and you saw it in my eyes that you haven't been able to forgive me since. And I don't know. Maybe, maybe it's a good thing.
Arianna: What? How--how could that be a good thing?
Brady: I'm gonna continue to help you because I believe in you. And yeah, I love you. But as far as our future goes, I don't know. Us. I just... I just think I need to rethink it because obviously you have.
Arianna: Hey. Brady.
Chloe: This is a total nightmare, Nicole. I don't think I'll ever be able to marry Daniel.
Chloe: Yeah, when he finds out what I did, he's never gonna want to have anything to do with me ever.
Nicole: Oh, is this that thing you were talking about, something awful you supposedly did?
Chloe: There's no supposedly about it. [Sighs] I thought that Daniel was in some motel having sex with Carly Manning. But it wasn't true. Some people lied to me, but by the time I found out, it was too late.
Nicole: Yeah, but if you found out he-- oh, my God.
Chloe: I was really upset and I'd had way too much wine to drink.
Nicole: You slept with someone?
Chloe: Yeah, but it was just one time. And I feel really awful about it. I feel so guilty but now when Daniel finds out, he's never gonna want to speak to me ever again.
Nicole: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Why does Daniel ever have to find out?
Chloe: Because Carly knows what I did and she says if I don't tell him the truth, then she will.
Chloe: Yeah, she already stopped me from marrying him once, and if I don't tell him the truth tonight, then she's just gonna lay it all out.
Nicole: Who the hell does she think she is, the morals police?
Chloe: Tell me about it.
Nicole: You know what? You have to do an end-run around that little bitch right now.
Nicole: Where's Daniel?
Chloe: I'm not sure.
Nicole: Okay, here's the plan. Daniel can never know that I was here. It would be way too suspicious.
Nurse: Dr. Jonas. The ER called. They need you stat.
Daniel: Okay, great, thank you.
Nicole: It's simple. Same plan as before. You tell Daniel that you changed your mind and that this accident made you see how short life is or whatever, but-- and then you marry that man ASAP, okay?
Chloe: What about Carly?
Nicole: Look, she only has control as long as you're not married to Daniel, but afterwards, she will totally back down.
Chloe: Or be even angrier.
Nicole: Yeah, well, let her. I told you, Daniel is no EJ. He will not abandon you. He's the one that told you marriage lasts forever. He will forgive you. Trust me.
Chloe: And when he finds out that I rushed things to get around Carly, then what?
Nicole: Okay, stop, stop being so negative. This is your only option, Chloe. You need to get married today, now, right?
Chloe: What if Carly--
Nicole: Stop. I will handle her. You make all the arrangements.
Melissa: No, I don't think so. No, I don't remember that.
Nathan: I like your mom.
Stephanie: I like yours too. But not as much as I like her son.
Nathan: Mm. Hey, before we go to dinner, I have a surprise for you.
Nathan: Yeah. No. Damn, shoot. I forgot it. I'll be right back.
Stephanie: Wait. Can't it just wait? We're about to leave.
Nathan: No, it can't wait. And neither can this.
Arianna: God. This is stupid. I should have said something to him. Guard. Guard. I could be making this up, you know.
Brady: And why would you do that?
Arianna: Because I don't want you to hate me.
Brady: Why not?
Arianna: Well, you know why.
Brady: No. I don't. Seriously, why would you not want me to hate you?
Arianna: Because I love you.
Brady: That's funny. 'Cause the reason I believe you is because I really love you too.
Nicole: Hey. Good news. No, great news. Carly is in surgery and she won't be out for hours. So you are home free. Look, I'm gonna go find Brady. Okay, I shouldn't be here anyway, so good luck. Say your vows and kiss your husband. And we'll talk later, okay? Chloe, what's wrong?
Chloe: Father Matt won't marry us, and he left anyway.
Nicole: Well, who cares? That's why God made justices of the peace or hospital chaplains. Mm. Okay. Just call the switchboard and have them send up any religious guy they have on tap. Chloe. This is your only chance.
Maggie: Well, honey, I've gotta go out and check on Alice. May need to take a nap.
Melanie: Okay. I gotta go too. I'll see you later. Oh-- I know that this is a really rough time for you but you being in remission, I am so relieved.
Maggie: Oh. So am I.
Melanie: I love you.
Maggie: I love you too.
Guard: What's going on?
Arianna: Guard. I need to make a call. I need to tell someone that I was wrong, please.
Guard: I'm sorry Miss, you made your call for today. You'll have to wait till tomorrow.
[Knocking on door]
Nicole: I went to the hospital and they said you checked yourself out. Are you all right?
Brady: Define all right. Come in. Thank you for thinking of me. More importantly, I wanted to thank you for... believing in me.
Nicole: I always have. And I always will. So did you leave the hospital and just come home?
Brady: No. I went to see Ari.
Brady: And I really don't want to get into it.
Nicole: She didn't believe... oh, Brady, I'm so sorry.
Chloe: Hey. I'm so glad that you're here.
Daniel: Yeah. What's up?
Chloe: Well, I was thinking about what you said before, about getting married anyway. And we don't need to have Father Matt marry us. We can just call that justice of the peace that you wanted to call and-- or you can give me the number and I'll call right now.
Daniel: You were adamant about having Father Matt do the ceremony.
Chloe: Yeah, but I changed my mind.
Chloe: Because you were right. What's the point in waiting?
Daniel: Mm. Why?
Chloe: I just, I don't think I was thinking clearly before, you know, with the pain medication, everything.
Daniel: Chloe. You had a head injury. You're not allowed pain medication. Something is going on. Something is wrong, and you're gonna tell me. And this time, I want the truth.
Lucas: Where exactly is home for you these days, Sami?
Chloe: I wanna be your wife right now.
