Sami: Will, I'm so glad we found you.

Will: I didn't realize it.

Sami: Yeah. I know how much you love your Great-Gram. And she is an amazing woman. But, um, sweetheart, I think... oh, sweetheart, I think you're gonna have to prepare yourself to say good-bye.

Maggie: [Sighs] Oh.

[Cell phone rings]

Maggie: Hello.

Lexie: Maggie. Hi, it's Lexie. I hope I'm not disturbing you.

Maggie: No. Not at all. Uh, what's wrong?

Lexie: Brady Black was admitted into the hospital. Drugs and alcohol were found in his system.

Maggie: Oh, my God. Oh, I'll be right there. Oh, lord.

Brady: What am I-- what am I doing here?

Nicole: Brady, I'm so sorry. It's all my fault.

Brady: You mean--what happened?

Nicole: You fell off the wagon. And it's because of what I did.

Arianna: Thank God. What time is the arraignment?

EJ: I'm afraid I have some bad news.

Charles: Where's Chad?

Madeline: On his cell phone as always, which gives us an opportunity to talk strategy.

Charles: I know how to handle our son, Madeline.

Madeline: Charles, please, let me do most of the talking. Chad already suspects what this lunch might be about.

Chad: Wake Forest? That's gonna be the big topic, am I right? Well, you two can save your breath 'cause I'm not going.

Kate: So what's the plan? Put on a blond wig, waltz into the bank, and ask them to open the box?

Stefano: Of course not. You'll give them the key.

Kate: [Chuckles] Well, well, well, never underestimate Stefano DiMera.

Stefano: [Chuckles] Which is a lesson that Madeline has yet to learn and she is about to pay for it dearly.

Doug: Hardly touched your soup. Sweetheart? What were you thinking?

Julie: Oh... just how Grandma's always been the rock of the family. Thinking how no matter how far you traveled or how long you were away, the house and Grandma was always here. Always here. To welcome you with open arms.

Alice: Darling. Whatever happens, whether you win or lose, you'll always have us. Just remember that. You'll always have a home here with us. With or without your baby.

Julie: Oh, thank you, Grandma. Thank you for everything. Oh, Doug, I'm not ready to say good-bye to her.

Doug: I know, darling. Dear God, neither am I.

Will: I need to see her.

Sami: Of course. We'll go together. Oh, hey, sweetheart. Can you hand me her sippy cup? It's in my purse.

Will: Yeah.

Sami: You okay? You ready to go with your big brother?

Will: Is this a bill from the contractor?

Sami: Yeah. Yeah. They've, uh, finished working on the townhouse.

Will: So when are you moving back?

Sami: We're not. Uh, we're gonna be staying at the mansion a while.

EJ: The judge is out sick, so all of her cases are being pushed back.

Arianna: Damn it. I shouldn't even be in here. Why is this happening to me?

EJ: I don't know. But I'll find out.

Brady: Listen to me. I swear it--it wasn't--it wasn't me. It wasn't my fault.

Nicole: You're right, Brady. Like I said, it was mine. You were upset that Arianna was in jail and she wouldn't be there if it wasn't for me.

Brady: What are you talking about? What do you mean?

Nicole: I... I shouldn't have followed you down to Santo Domingo. And if I hadn't have shown up, you two would've gotten married.

Brady: It's--it's a hurricane, Nicole. It was a hurricane.

Nicole: And if... if you had married Arianna, then she wouldn't have had so much pent up anger. And she wouldn't have taken it out on those poor men including you.

Brady: Listen, number one, Arianna didn't attack anyone. Number two, I didn't drink. I didn't use drugs.

Nicole: Then, Brady, what happened to you?

Brady: I don't know. Someone must've set me up. Someone must've knocked me out and put the drugs and put the liquor in my system. I know it's crazy. But you believe me, right?

Will: Why would you want to stay at the mansion? It's not because of me, is it?

Sami: Well, yeah, partly. But it's also for Johnny and Sydney too. They're--they're comfortable there.

Will: But the townhouse is their home.

Sami: And they'll be going back there. We all will go back there soon. But, you know, for right now, it's good for them to spend some time with their father.

Will: Really? You're sure you're not talking about yourself?

Sami: I am not thinking of myself, I am doing what's best for my kids.

Will: Since when?

Sami: You know what, Will, I'm not gonna let you talk to me like that.

Will: Okay, fine. You--you know what, you--you do whatever you want to do. You always do anyway.

Sami: Uh--

Maggie: Maxine, what room is Brady Black in?

Maxine: Room 314.

Maggie: Thanks.

Maxine: Mm-hmm.

Victor: Maggie.

Maggie: Mm!

Victor: I assume you heard about Brady.

Maggie: Ah, yes, I was just going in to see him. Do you know what happened?

Victor: I just got a message from Bo, but no details. But trust me, I know exactly who to blame for this.

Nicole: Brady, I want to believe you, but who would set you up?

Brady: Isn't it obvious?

Nicole: No.

Brady: Nicole, listen. I was trying to prove Arianna's innocence. My grandfather made a replica of the money clip--the one that the mugger stole from me. When I was at the pub, this guy recognized it. He came up to me and he said he had seen it somewhere else. Whoever has the money clip is the one that mugged me.

Nicole: Do you remember where you went to look for it?

Brady: No. No. But I must've been getting close to the truth.

[Door opens]

Lexie: Hi, Brady. How you feeling?

Brady: I'm feeling better.

Lexie: Good. Good. Well, it's a good thing Nicole found you when she did. She probably saved your life.

Charles: "Not going to Wake Forest." When the hell did you decide that?

Chad: Why does it matter when? I'm not going. That's all you need to know.

Madeline: Sweetie, why would you squander this opportunity? Wake Forest is such an excellent school.

Chad: Yeah, and so is Salem U. And it's close by.

Charles: Oh, so now you want to be close by to your overbearing parents. Well, gee, I'm touched. How about you, Madeline?

Chad: My friends are here. And I don't want to leave them.

Charles: You can't make new friends?

Madeline: Charles, I think Chad is referring to one friend in particular.

Charles: Oh, I wonder who that could be. Mia McCormick by any chance?

Mia: Oh, Gabi, hey, I'm glad I ran into you.

Gabi: I'm in a rush.

Mia: Uh, wait. Look, I heard about your sister getting arrested and I wanted to say I'm sorry.

Gabi: That's a lie. We both know you're not sorry.

Mia: What?

Gabi: What do you really want to say, Mia? Be honest for once.

Kate: So all I do is trot out my very best supercilious ice queen impression. Yes.

Stefano: And you are going to be brilliant at it, my darling. And in a few hours, Miss Madeline is not going to have anything to hold over us anymore. Our secret will be safe forever.

Mia: Gabi, wait.

Gabi: What's with you? Are you stalking me or something?

Mia: Look, I just--I want to work things out between us, you know? I really want us to be friends.

Gabi: Are you kidding me? After the way you've treated me? Mia, you are the last person on this earth I want to be friends with.

Chad: All right, Mia McCormick is not the reason why I'm staying in Salem. Why would you even think that?

Madeline: Frankly, Chad, we don't know what to think.

Chad: Look, Salem U just feels like a better fit for me, okay? Wake Forest, I just--I know I wouldn't feel comfortable there, okay? It--it--it's elitist. And all the kids there look like they're just totally self-important.

Madeline: But Chad...

Chad: No, no, no, Mom. No--no buts. No--no more arguments. I've already made up my mind. Sorry you're disappointed. But, hey, you must be used to that by now. So I'm just gonna, you know, get some fresh air. I'll be right back.

Madeline: No--what, now? What--what about lunch?

Chad: Look, I'm not hungry anymore.

Madeline: Well, at least meet us for dinner.

Chad: Why? So we can talk about the same stupid thing?

Madeline: No, because I-I have something special planned. Please.

Chad: Fine. You promise not to mention Wake Forest?

Madeline: Whatever you want.

Chad: Fine. I'll see you guys later.

Charles: Maybe--maybe he's right. I mean, Salem University is a decent school. It might not be a bad idea to keep him close by. Keep an eye on him.

Madeline: Charles, no. My God. We have gone over and over this. There are too many distractions here and I don't want him associating with the wrong people. I can't allow that.

Kate: [Exhales]

Stefano: Whoa, why aren't you dressed?

Kate: I'm going to put my disguise on at the office. There are too many prying eyes here.

Stefano: Good thinking. [Chuckles] All right, now, as they say in the theater, break a leg and Godspeed.

Kate: Well, my darling, I don't think God has anything to do with this.

Stefano: Uh-huh.

Kate: We are on our own.

Stefano: [Knocks on wood] Huh.

[Doorbell rings]

Julie: Oh, Sami.

Sami: Hi, Julie.

Julie: Will and little Sydney too. Well, come in.

Will: How's Great-Gram?

Julie: She's, uh--she's tired. But she's in good spirits. So why don't you go up? I-I know she wants to see you.

Will: Okay, thank you. I will.

Sami: I'll wait for you here.

Julie: Did I, uh, detect a chill in the air?

Sami: Try a full-blown ice storm.

Julie: Why is that, may I ask?

Sami: He doesn't approve of my living situation.

Julie: Oh, which is?

Sami: The kids and I are staying at the, uh, at the DiMera mansion.

Julie: What? With EJ?

Sami: It is his house.

Julie: Well, no wonder Will is upset. Good grief, Sami. What in the world are you thinking?

Arianna: Okay, you still think that Nicole framed me.

EJ: Yeah. It makes perfect sense to me.

Arianna: But even if it's true, how are we gonna prove it?

EJ: Look, do you trust me?

Arianna: Yes.

EJ: Okay. Then believe me. All right? I will get you out of here. I give you my word.

Maggie: So you know who to blame without hearing a word out of Brady's mouth?

Victor: Well, I'm going in to see him now.

Maggie: No, you're not. Not like this. You may be Brady's grandfather, but I'm his sponsor. So before you go in there with guns blazing, you're gonna listen to me, Victor, and listen hard.

Nicole: It was pure luck that I ran into you on the pier, Brady. I-I-I did what any decent person would've done.

Brady: Does that mean that I can't be grateful to you?

Lexie: Nicole, would you mind stepping outside for a few moments? I'd like to run a few more tests.

Nicole: Of course. I'll be back. Feel better. Damn you, Dick. You did this to him. I know you did. But it's over now. I'm not gonna let you get away with it.

Madeline: And why didn't you even speak up?

Charles: Because you told me to let you do the talking.

Madeline: Only if things were going well.

Charles: Madeline, why don't you have a drink? Calm your nerves.

Madeline: No, I don't need a drink. I need to know why he's doing this to us.

Charles: He's not doing anything to us. He--he's just trying to assert himself, that's all. Yes, he's been influenced by some troubled kids. Badly influenced, obviously.

Madeline: And yet he refuses to leave this wretched little town. Why? Why is he being so damn defiant?

Charles: Madeline, if you feel that strongly about Wake Forest, we can get Chad to change his mind. There's still plenty of time.

Madeline: You're right. You're right. I shouldn't worry so much. But now I wonder if...

Charles: What?

Madeline: Well, I was going to give him a gift and I don't want him to think that it's some kind of bribe.

Charles: What gift?

Madeline: Bonds.

Charles: You put money into bonds for him? Well, why didn't I know about this?

Madeline: I didn't think to tell you, that's all. They're in my safe deposit box. Anyway, I-I don't want him to think that it's some kind of... oh, you know what, to hell with it. I'm gonna give him those bonds anyway. So what if it's a bribe? Desperate measures, right?

Stefano: [Sighs] Ah. Ah, yes. Katherine should be ready for her... close-up... about now.

Okay, that should do it.

Man: Do you have your key, Judge Peterson-Woods?

Kate: I do. I do indeed.

Maggie: When an addict has a relapse, the worst thing that you can do is lose your temper and start throwing accusations around.

Victor: I'm not blaming Brady. I'm blaming his girlfriend. The once and future prison whore.

Maggie: But he's in love with her, Victor. Now, you're not going to go in and berate him. Do you understand?

Victor: Well, what the hell do you expect me to do?

Maggie: I expect you to be quiet, supportive, gentle. Any of that in your repertoire?

Victor: The last time Brady used, I almost lost him. Surely you can understand that I can't be passive about this.

Maggie: I'm not asking you to be passive. I'm asking you to listen. If you go ranting and raving about his girlfriend, he will shut you down. I promise you that. I mean, you're a wonderful grandfather, Victor. And I know how much you care about Brady. But as a sponsor, a former addict, I have some knowledge about how to deal with these types of situations. Will you trust me?

Victor: I will. I do.

Maggie: Okay.

Sami: I am staying at the DiMera mansion for my kids, so that they can be with their father, Julie.

Julie: Yes, I can understand that. But I can't understand why you need to be around him.

Sami: W--

Julie: Well, he is, after all, an amoral, pompous jerk, is he not?

Sami: He's their father.

Julie: He's also a lowlife and a criminal. Has that slipped your mind?

Sami: People can change. You and I both know that.

Julie: Yes, it happens all the time. So tell me how does your FBI boyfriend feel about this change in your location?

Sami: It doesn't matter. He's not my boyfriend anymore.

Julie: Oh, I get it. This is a rebound thing.

Sami: It's not. It isn't a rebound thing at all because we're not a thing. We're--we're friends and--and parents and it's not romantic, okay?

Julie: I recall the last time you were living in that house of horrors it wasn't a romantic thing then and you and EJ wound up in bed together.

Sami: Julie, this is totally different.

Julie: How?

Sami: Okay. Okay. You know what, you are being really judgmental right now. And obviously it's because of Lucas. It's because of what happened with Lucas last time. And he's obviously poisoned your mind against EJ.

Julie: Sami, I make up my own mind. And you forget I've been watching the DiMera family operate since before you were born. So believe me, darling, there isn't a doubt in my mind. You're making the worst mistake of your life.

Mia: Look, I know I treated you horribly.

Gabi: Not just me.

Mia: Okay, and Will too. But you need to realize, I really did like him.

Gabi: Till Chad came back to Salem.

Mia: True. I guess I just didn't realize it at first. But Chad is the guy I really love. Always have, always will.

Man: Okay. Um, I'm going off duty. My associate will see you out when you're done.

Kate: Thank you very much. Where is this freaking tape?

Will: That was hard.

Doug: Yeah.

Will: Seeing her look so fragile--I'm not used to that.

Doug: None of us is. Look, Will, I know it's difficult, but, uh, we all just have to be grateful for the many years that we had with her. So how's everything going? School's okay?

Will: Uh, not really. My grades weren't very good this last semester. Mostly C's.

Doug: Uh. You mom can't be very happy about that.

Will: I don't care what my mom thinks.

Doug: You two having problems?

Will: I moved out to try and get a little space. But there is no escaping her.

Doug: Well, hey, wait a minute here. If you're not living at your mother's place, where are you living?

Will: The DiMera mansion.

Sami: I didn't come here to be judged.

Julie: I'm trying to help and--

Sami: I appreciate it. I get it. But I didn't ask for your help. And--and I don't want it. I would want you to respect that I'm doing what I think is best for my children. Ever since Rafe left, I am a single parent again. And you know what, it's not exactly easy.

Julie: Yes, I do know. I know all about being a single parent. It's very tough. I also know it's better for a child to have both parents. I know that. However, in your case, the other parent happens to be a, uh, troubled man to put it euphemistically. Besides, I thought you had the backbone to handle single parenting on your own.

Sami: I am not saying that I can't do it. I'm just saying that EJ is kind, and he's been supportive, and he has been there for me through a very difficult time in my life. And I have watched him with his children. He is an amazing father to them. Nothing? You're gonna stay silent?

Julie: I want to choose my next words carefully.

Sami: I can take it. Spit it out.

Julie: Fine. You're trying to replace Rafe with EJ. And there's not a doubt in my mind you're gonna live to regret it.

Brady: Next thing I knew it, I was--I was lying here in this hospital bed.

Victor: Did you ever find the money clip?

Bo: Not--no. Not that I recall. But the one thing I do recall is that I did not drink and I did not use any drugs. But I can s--I see what you're thinking. I swear to God. I swear on my mother's grave I've been sober since I came out of rehab.

Maggie: But the test.

Brady: I was set up, Maggie. I don't know how. Someone knew that I was trying to prove Arianna innocent and they wanted to stop me from doing it.

Victor: Sounds very farfetched, Brady.

Brady: Granddad, I--

Victor: But I believe you. You're--you're innocent.

Brady: Arianna is too. She is not this mugger.

Maggie: But that would mean that the real mugger--assuming they did this to you--knew that you had a substance abuse problem.

Brady: Exactly. They had no problem using that against me.

[Door opens]

Dr. Baker: [Gasps] What are you doing here?

Nicole: You son of a bitch. I know what you did and I could kill you for it!

Man: Judge Peterson-Woods, how nice to see you again. How may I help you?

Madeline: I'd like to access my safe deposit box.

Man: Certainly. Just give me one minute.

Madeline: Oh, I hope I brought my key. Ah. Here it is.

Man: Great. All you have to do is... wait a minute.

Madeline: Is there a problem?

Man: Yes, actually. According to this, you've already signed in.

Gabi: Does Chad know how you feel about him?

Mia: Uh, no. But it's too late to matter. He's leaving for Wake Forest in a couple months and honestly, I think half the reason he's leaving is because of me.

Chad: [Clears throat] Actually, you know what, that's, uh, that's not true.

Mia: Chad.

Chad: And, actually, I'm not leaving after all. I'm going to Salem U in the fall.

Mia: What made you change your mind?

Chad: I want to be with my friends...and you.

EJ: Okay. That's everything.

Arianna: Thank you.

EJ: Same time tomorrow?

Arianna: I'll be here.

EJ: Okay.

Arianna: [Chuckles] Um... thank you again for everything that you're doing. I just want you to know how much I appreciate it.

[Cell phone ringing]

EJ: Sorry.

Arianna: Oh, please.

EJ: Would you excuse me just for a second?

Arianna: Yeah.

EJ: Yes, Lexie, what can I do for you?

Lexie: You're representing Arianna Hernandez, right?

EJ: Uh, yes. Why?

Lexie: Good. I thought she'd want to know that Brady's been admitted into the hospital.

EJ: What happened?

Lexie: Apparently, he went on a binge. He--um, his blood alcohol level is through the roof and we found traces of drugs in his system.

EJ: Stupid.

Lexie: I don't know. I-I can't say anything more. The only reason I'm calling is because Nicole knows. And, uh, look, I-I just don't want Arianna finding out some other way.

EJ: No. Thank you. I appreciate you telling me.

Lexie: Okay, just let her know that he's on the mend, all right? He'll be fine.

EJ: Thanks, Lexie.

Arianna: Is everything okay?

EJ: No. That was Lexie. Sorry to tell you that Brady's had a relapse.

Victor: Don't worry, Brady. I'll get to the bottom of this. And when I find the person responsible--

Brady: Gra--Granddad, no, no, no. I don't--I don't want you going after anyone. I don't want you trying to find anyone, you understand? I can handle this whole thing myself.

Victor: Don't be ridiculous. You're my grandson and I intend-- fine. We'll, uh, put this discussion off until you're feeling better.

Brady: Thank you.

Victor: But in the meantime, if you change your mind--

Brady: I will absolutely let you know.

Dr. Baker: How the hell did you get in here?

Nicole: Through the window. Don't change the subject.

Dr. Baker: Which is?

Nicole: Brady. I know you drugged him, you bastard!

Dr. Baker: I-I had to. He was at the poker game and he was asking questions about the money clip. And he could tie that to me in a minute and all your plans go up in smoke. Is that what you want? Would that have made you happy?

Nicole: You didn't have to drug him.

Dr. Baker: [Exhales] It's the only thing I could think of. And it's a small price to pay anyway. You get Brady in the end.

Nicole: No. No, this time, the cost was too high.

Mia: So, uh, you're staying because of me?

Chad: Yeah. And there's other reasons too.

Gabi: Um, I should leave.

Mia: What? No. No, no, no. Stay. We're all friends here, right?

Gabi: Yeah, I guess.

Mia: Yeah. So your parents must have freaked when you told them you weren't leaving. I mean, we all know how much they want you away from me. Ha.

Chad: Well, they aren't happy about it. The strange thing is, it's not you they're worried about me hanging around with. It's Will. In fact, it's become, like, the really big issue.

Gabi: Will? What do your parents have against him?

Chad: Well, I think it has to do with his grandmother Kate. See, will found this old photo of my mom and her together. And seems like they were really good friends at one point. And ended badly anyway. My mom insists she just doesn't like the DiMera family. But, you know, I know it's more than that.

Gabi: What does Will think?

Chad: Well, he agrees. So we're gonna try and find the picture and see if we can get to the bottom of it. Maybe whatever my mom is hiding will give us some leverage.

Madeline: It's empty. Everything is gone. How could this have happened?

Man: Um, the other woman had a key.

Madeline: Well, obviously she wasn't me so why the hell was she allowed access to my safe deposit box? Don't just stand there. Go get security!

Man: Come on.

Madeline: Dear God. What have they done?

Kate: Yes. Yes. We did it. [Exhales]

Stefano: Our secret is safe, Katherine. And...

Kate: Oh, thank God.

Stefano: Madeline is finito.

Kate: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Stefano: So much for underestimating the DiMeras, huh?

Kate: Mm.

Stefano: Ah.

Kate: That's right.

Victor: Maggie, I want to thank you for your help just now.

Maggie: It was a challenge shutting you up.

Victor: Yes, but you made it happen. It could be a first.

Maggie: Really? Well, then I'm even more impressed with myself. I'm a trailblazer. Ha!

Victor: You know...

Maggie: You know what?

Victor: You just seem to understand me better than most people.

Maggie: Well, um-- that's why I-I manage you so well, yes?

Victor: Mm. Yeah, I guess that's why.

Doug: Will, you're living with the DiMeras? Hey, look, I know your Grandma Kate is there and all, but still, I--

Will: Please don't try to tell me it's a bad idea because I have heard that enough.

Doug: Oh, sure. Okay, fine. Well, I know I, uh, it's not my place to weigh in here, but, uh, um, look, I can't lie to you and say that it pleases me. Surely you're aware of how Stefano DiMera has lived his life.

Will: Of course I am. How can I not be? I-I know. He's done a lot of horrible things. But...

Doug: But?

Will: But he must've mellowed. He actually seems like a pretty cool guy.

Doug: [Scoffs]

Sami: I'm gonna go check on Will.

Julie: Sami, please. I'm sorry if I sounded judgmental. I care about you. I really do. I've explained this to you before that--

Sami: I know. I know. I remind you of you when you were my age.

Julie: Well, yeah, you do. And I don't want to see you make any mistakes.

Sami: But look at you. I mean, that's what I want. You have a wonderful family. You have a loving husband. You are a strong, confident woman that...

Julie: I had a lot of guidance from my family. Especially... that patient, loving lady upstairs. Most of all, I had the love of the right man. Sami, you are so vibrant and full of life. I hope you find that kind of love. I really do.

[Cell phone rings]

Brady: Hello.

Arianna: Brady, it's me.

Brady: Arianna. I guess you heard.

Arianna: I did just now. Are you--are you okay?

Brady: I'm fine. But I swear--I swear I didn't use.

Arianna: Just tell me the truth, Brady, how did this happen? How did you let it?

Dr. Baker: There's nothing we can do about it now, all right? What's done is done.

Nicole: Really? May I quote you on that?

Dr. Baker: I had no other choice, Nic.

Nicole: Well, you should have thought of something else instead of hurting him! He didn't deserve that!

Dr. Baker: This is not about what people deserve. This is about you and me and keeping people from finding out what we did because if they do, you can kiss your sweet dream life with Brady good-bye.

Chloe: You're not going to tell Daniel I slept with Phillip, are you?

Nicole: If you hurt Brady like this one more time I will want your head on a platter.

Brady: I didn't do it!
