Abe: Yeah, so if you guys could just take care of this...

Daniel: Mayor Carver.

Carly: Hi.

Daniel: Bo.

Bo: What's going on?

Carly: Vivian threatened me earlier.

Bo: You saw her?

Carly: I ran into her at the pier.

Abe: Well, what exactly did she say?

Carly: Among other things, that "You may not be in jail, but you're not free because, from this moment on, the sword of Vivian Alamain hangs over your head."

Lois: Manicure time is over. Back to your cell.

Nicole: Not until I'm done.

Lois: No? Well, how 'bout scrubbing the floor some more? Or are you afraid of chipping your polish?

Nicole: Oh, Lois, you're gonna have to find someone else to do your slave work because I just found my get-out-of-jail-free card.

Jim: Oh, boy, am I in trouble. This is crazy. This is just crazy.

Anna: Yeah, but you always used to love crazy.

Jim: No, listen-- listen to me. Anna, listen to me. You're a lovely woman, and we've had a lot of good times.

Anna: Well...only good?

Jim: But you're asking too much. This is not a case of insider trading gone wrong. This is a high-profile kidnapping with a sick game of musical babies.

Anna: Well, that's the way it was described in the tabloids. That's true. But, Jim, if you read the trial transcripts, and if you heard it from Nicole’s perspective, your heart would go out to this woman. I know it would.

Jim: My heart has nothing to do with it. The public has to have sympathy for her, and the chances of that happening is about the same as the bears going to the super bowl. George, would you bring the car around front, please? We're leaving.

Sami: So are you gonna write me a recommendation, or should I just write it, and you can sign it? Rafe?

Rafe: [Clears throat] Yeah, I don't think it's a good idea for me to write you a job reference.

Sami: Oh...right. It was really presumptuous of me to assume you would stick your neck out for me.

[Clears throat]

Rafe: Sami...

Sami: No, it's all right. Forget it. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.

Rafe: Sami, would you get back here? Sami, come here. Come on. Come here, just hold on a second, will you?

EJ: Okay, Theo, why don't you tell me the secret Johnny told you?

Theo: About Sydney.

EJ: Sydney.

Theo: That she was never gone. She was safe with you all along.

EJ: Right. Well, uh... you see, Theo, Johnny, uh... doesn't always tell the truth. And he likes to make up stories.

Theo: Not a story. Sydney was with her daddy always.

Lexie: Theo, why would you say that?

Gus: What now, Madam?

Vivian: Sit! As I told you, I have a backup for our plan.

Gus: So if Madam has Mr. Kiriakis' assistance, then perhaps--

Vivian: Oh, no, no, no, no. You're very much needed. Very much needed.

Gus: But, madam, Mr. Kiriakis?

Vivian: This is a job to relish. Carly won't be able to breathe feeling you doing the same thing down the back of her neck, and then she won't be able to breathe at all. Cheers.

Bo: Well, that's just great. We've got this dangerous, insane woman wandering the streets of Salem, doing whatever the hell she wants. I don't get it.

Carly: Hey...

Bo: Would someone please explain to me why she isn't in a mental institution?

Daniel: Well, you know what, that's where she belongs, obviously. But since she's not-- since she's out wandering the streets, as you put it, we need to protect Carly.

Bo: Of course we need to protect Carly from a psychopathic maniac. That's exactly what we're gonna do. We're not gonna continue to live our lives like this. Not anymore.

Sami: Rafe, please just let me go.

Rafe: You're making a scene.

Sami: It's embarrassing.

Rafe: Come back to the table. Please?

Sami: What is it? Rafe, just tell me. Is it that you don't want me to work? Is that it?

Rafe: Of course not.

Sami: You know, I have to do this. I have to support myself.

Rafe: I get that.

Sami: If EJ decided to sue for sole custody of our kids, I would have to be able to prove that I have some means of support.

Rafe: But you do. You always will. You have me.

Sami: And I appreciate that, but--

Rafe: But what? Is that not enough? Am I not enough?

Lexie: EJ, why do you think Theo would say that about Sydney always being with you?

EJ: I have no idea.

Theo: Johnny told me the secret.

Lexie: Okay, honey, come on.

EJ: Look, Theo, I think you misunderstood. I think, possibly, his tendency towards a literal interpretation of things has just left him a little bit confused.

Lexie: Theo, sweetheart, why don't you go back and play with Johnny. I'm sure he misses you, okay?

EJ: All right, look, I am sorry. I shouldn't have said that that way.

Lexie: My son may be autistic, but he hears just fine, okay? He also happens to be highly intelligent.

EJ: I--I under--I know that.

Lexie: And I've learned never to dismiss anything he tells me.

EJ: What are you suggesting? Sydney was here the whole time? Come on, Lex, that's completely absurd.

Lexie: No, no, no. Not literally here, EJ. But come on, Johnny’s been in and out of father's house. Maybe he saw something or heard something. Johnny could be the key to finding out who's behind Sydney’s kidnapping.

Mia: Hi, I was just thinking about you.

Will: Did you lose something?

Mia: Uh, where'd you find that?

Will: No, Gabi found it. She actually got it from Chad. I guess this thing really gets around. Just like you.

Lois: I don't get it. Who the hell are you trying to get yourself all dolled up for, anyway?

Nicole: Oh, damn! You made me mess up.

Lois: There's gotta be someone. You're not trying to look pretty for me.

Nicole: Is it hard working here when you should be engineering rockets for NASA?

Lois: It's that guy you called, isn't it? Mm-hmm.

Nicole: Don't call me. Don't write...and don't come visit me.

Brady: What are you talking--

Nicole: Because I won't see you, Brady. I won't take your calls. I won't write you back.

Brady: Nicole--

Nicole: I won't, I won't! Because it will be too hard for me. And the one gift that I can actually give you is to finally truly let you go. What about him?

Sami: You-- you mean a lot to me. I mean, I can't even tell you how much you mean to me.

Rafe: But...

Sami: But I just thought this would be a great situation. You know, it's an exciting job. There's day care and everything. It's perfect. At least I thought it was.

Arianna: I'm thinking we should leave.

Brady: Yeah.

Arianna: Yeah. Okay. Uh, excuse me...hi, guys. We're gonna split.

Sami: Oh, my God.

Rafe: No, no, no.

Sami: 'Cause we're being rude. Um, we're sorry. We're--sit. Sit, sit. Everybody sit. We're gonna stay, and we're gonna celebrate. Aah! Oh!

Arianna: Oh, okay, all right.

Sami: See, it's a party already. Cheers! Cheers!

Arianna: We're sitting. We're sitting. This is great. Yes, we're actually really glad we did this tonight.

Sami: Totally.

Arianna: Cheers again. Drink up. Let's drink.

EJ: But Johnny hardly spent any time at the mansion when Sydney was there. I mean... you don't think...

Lexie: What?

EJ: You don't really think that Father had something to do with this, do you?

Lexie: I wouldn't put it past him.

EJ: Yeah, you've made that mistake before.

Lexie: Yeah.

Jim: I really wish that I could have done something to help you out, at least for old times' sake, but no can do.

Anna: Well, I understand. Your career is on a fast track now, and you wouldn't want to risk it on some washed-up old bimbo.

Jim: Now, you stop that, Anna. Come on. You know that I think you're cute as hell and lots of fun.

Anna: Yeah, that's me, a laugh and a half.

Jim: Believe me, if I could have done something for you, I would have. It was great to see you. Take care, now, okay?

Anna: Mm-hmm. Self-obsessed...ooh!

Nicole: You have 24 hours to deliver that pardon. Otherwise, let the games begin.

Anna: Okay, Anna... it's time to pull out the big guns.

Carly: This isn't about me. It's about Melanie. It's her safety that I'm concerned about.

Daniel: Let's not talk hypotheticals. The point is, we can't allow this woman to terrorize people. Carly should not have to live in constant fear from some elderly madwoman who's run amok in Salem.

Bo: I'll put an end to that.

Daniel: Yeah? How? When?

Bo: When did this become your problem?

Daniel: Well, since Melanie, my daughter, was almost killed on your watch. Vivian was able to get into her police-guarded room, and now Carly is getting death threats. So what are you gonna do about it?

Vivian: Maybe you should look under "slow-acting poison."

Gus: Are you sure we should be doing this--

Vivian: Keep searching, Gus. Get, get--

[Cell phone ringing]

Vivian: Oh, God. Hello?

Bo: It's Commissioner Brady. I need you to come down to the police station.

Vivian: Can't do that, sorry. A bit busy. Maybe another time.

Bo: You're coming down here now, do you understand?

Mia: I lost the medal at work. Chad must have found it.

Will: No, you're lying.

Mia: Why would you say that?

Will: Because I know that liar look. I grew up with my mom, remember?

Mia: That's mean. And I'm not like that.

Will: No, you're exactly like that. The winter dance-- I should have known when you said you would go with Chad after you already said you'd go with me. You're playing us both, Mia. You know what, though? You're gonna end up with nobody.

Rafe: So you guys don't have any concrete wedding plans, do you...yet?

Brady: No, no, not yet.

Arianna: No. I mean, we don't want a big wedding. You know, just something simple.

Sami: You're planning to work after you get married? Or is that a sexist question?

Arianna: I, um--yeah. I'm gonna work. I'm actually thinking about going back to school to get my masters.

Rafe: Great.

Sami: Wow. God, that'd be awesome. I'd love to go back to school. I mean, if it weren't for the kids.

Arianna: Kinda tough.

Sami: Yeah. Of course. Which is why this job with the FBI would be so perfect.

Brady: You know what, I'm craving something sweet. Why don't we go check out that famous pie selection you have back there, okay?

Arianna: Sounds good.

Brady: Excuse us.

Sami: Mm-hmm.

Rafe: Had to bring up the job again.

Sami: Well, it's important to me.

Rafe: Yeah, I get that.

Sami: And you don't care. And I don't get that.

Rafe: Okay, you see, here's the thing. This job that you are applying for, it's in a completely different department than I even work in.

Sami: So?

Rafe: So I don't have any pull.

Sami: I'm not asking for pull. I'm asking for a recommendation.

Rafe: Well, I've never worked with you before.

Sami: You did not just say that.

Rafe: It's a fact.

Sami: You don't have to have worked with me, Rafe, to know that I am smart and punctual and responsible and whatever else I need to be to get this job.

Rafe: Do you even have any clerical experience?

Sami: Yes! Tons! I used to work at the hos-- I can type, I can answer phones, I can get coffee. I can do whatever I have to do. And I can keep secrets with the best of 'em.

Rafe: No need to tell me.

Sami: What is that supposed to mean?

EJ: Anna. What the-- what the hell are you doing here?

Anna: Well, invite me in and I'll tell you.

EJ: Get inside!

Anna: It's Nicole.

EJ: What?

Anna: She found out I took the baby-- she finally placed my voice.

EJ: What?

Anna: I tried to do this, EJ. I tried to handle it on my own, but I need your help.

EJ: You need my help?

Anna: Mm-hmm.

EJ: Why should I help you?

Anna: Well, jeez, I don't know. Maybe because I can implicate you.

EJ: Really? I gave you $5 million to keep your mouth shut, Anna. I mean, if that isn't enough, there's another way of silencing you. It's not quite as pleasant, but it's a lot more permanent.

Anna: EJ, don't talk like that.

EJ: Marco! Do me a favor, Marco.

Anna: But wait--

EJ: Dispose of this.

Anna: EJ...EJ...EJ... no! What the heck am I thinking?

Nicole: This is stupid. I have no right to be upset.

Lois: Whatever gets you through the night.

Nicole: Yeah, well, it was my choice. I was the idiot walking away from the one and only guy who ever loved me.

Lois: If you were the one who walked away, maybe it's not too late.

Vivian: Oh, hello. Ah, I see that sleeping with the police commissioner has its perks. Namely freedom.

Carly: I told you I was exonerated by my daughter's testimony.

Vivian: That is so touching. It sort of smacks of movie of the week. And what do you need from me? I hope it's worth my time.

Bo: Would you excuse us?

Anna: [Sighs] we come. EJ!

EJ: Nicole told everybody everything. She got to me through you. You stupid, stupid girl.

Anna: Come on, Anna, who do you think you're kidding? There is nowhere on earth you can hide from the DiMeras. So there's only one thing left to do.

Rafe: What? I was agreeing with you.

Sami: Then why did it feel like an insult?

Rafe: Because you're being defensive and insecure.

Sami: You called me a good liar.

Rafe: What? No, I did not. You said you were good at keeping secrets. I said that I knew that.

Sami: And that's not taking a swipe at me?

Rafe: Okay, what do I have to do to convince you that I want to move past what happened? That I want us to have a life together, a future together.

Sami: I asked you for a simple job recommendation, and obviously that's just, what, asking too much?

Rafe: Oh, my God. Okay. You want to know the truth?

Sami: Sure. Why not?

Rafe: Well, I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want to hurt your feelings, but the bottom line is you will never pass the required background check for the FBI.

Sami: Why?

Rafe: You really need to ask me that? Because you have a criminal record. Because you withheld information in a federal investigation.

Sami: Exactly. Now we're back to that. 'Cause you'll never forgive me for it.

Rafe: This isn't about forgiving you. This is about you being able to meet the requirements to get a job with the FBI!

Sami: It's about you not trusting me!

Rafe: Wow. What do you want me to say?

Sami: There's nothing to say. You're right, I am insecure. I'm insecure because I have screwed up every relationship I've ever been in, and obviously screwed up this one too.

Rafe: Don't do this, Sami, please.

Sami: It's too late, right? So let's just stop before it hurts more than it already does.

Rafe: What?

Sami: I think we just jumped in, you know, again, before we really thought things through.

Rafe: Are you saying--

Sami: I think we should take a break. You know, the one we should have taken before.

Rafe: A break. Okay.

Sami: Okay. Just like that.

Rafe: What do you mean, just like that? You're the one who suggested it. You're the one who brought it up. So that's what you want to do, obviously. So fine. Let's do it. We'll take a break.

Nicole: Brady tried to move on with someone else. It was because he couldn't have me. But he's come back before. Crazier things have happened, right?

Lois: They happen all the time.

[Cell phone ringing]

Lois: Yeah? It's for you.

Nicole: Hello?

Anna: Nicole, it's Anna. I--I--I couldn't do it. I couldn't get the pardon. I'm sorry. It's over.

Daniel: He is all talk. He's the commissioner of police, and Vivian Alamain’s walking around free.

Carly: Okay, don't take it out on Bo, it's not his fault.

Daniel: No, I'm not doing that! I just-- look, I just resent that he's known about my daughter longer than I have.

Carly: That's understandable. Thank you for helping me. For everything. But you don't have to stick around here.

Bo: I called you down here to warn you.

Vivian: Well, I've been warned. May I leave now?

Bo: No, you may not.

Vivian: Really? Or else what?

Bo: I don't think you want to know.

Vivian: [Chuckles]

Brady: Hey, look, I don't know what's going on with my sister and your brother, but I know one thing. I'm not letting their little things get in the way of our evening, okay?

Arianna: Mm-hmm. Thank you.

Brady: Mm-hmm.

Arianna: Oh, my goodness! Speaking of sisters.

Brady: Oh.

Arianna: She doesn't know about our engagement. She's gonna be very excited.

Brady: Well, go tell her, then--I'll get coffee.

Arianna: Okay. Okay. Hello... how are you?

Gabi: Hey.

Arianna: Is something wrong?

Gabi: Yeah. Guys, eh? They suck.

EJ: Do you want to give me a high five?

[Makes explosive sound]

EJ: Very good. Oh...who's that?

Sami: Hi.

EJ: Is that your mommy?

Sami: Hi, beautiful!

EJ: Somebody missed you.

Sami: Oh, look at her. Did you have fun with Daddy? What did you two do today? Huh? Mwah! What did you two do?

EJ: So did you have any word from Rafe? Is he joining us this evening?

Sami: No. No, he won't be coming at all.

EJ: Okay.

Will: So...what did my mom do now?

Anna: Wait, there is one other thing I could do.

Nicole: What?

Anna: You'll see.

Nicole: Oh, really? And I'm supposed to trust you? You clubbed me over the head and took my kid.

Anna: Come on, Nicole, what have you got to lose, hmm?

Nicole: 12 hours. That's all you get. Last chance.

Lois: Hey! Easy on the phone!

Nicole: Stupid woman, stringing me along. I won't let her get away with it. I can't!

Arianna: Talk to me. What did he say?

Gabi: He said it wasn't fair for him to go out with me anymore because he's still into Mia.

Arianna: Oh, honey, I'm sorry.

Gabi: I just don't get it. Mia, she's-- she's just not a nice person. Why does he even like her?

Arianna: Look, they had a baby together. And sometimes that bonds people in a way that you can't imagine.

EJ: Look, Samantha, I'm sorry. I know that you and Rafe have had your differences, but I hate seeing you like this. All I really want for you is...

Sami: For me to lead a happy, joyful life.

EJ: Right.

Sami: It's funny, you know.

EJ: What's that?

Sami: Well, the whole time, I kept thinking that once I did get Sydney back, you and I would fight over her, and it would be really difficult. And it hasn't been. You've been great, and I really appreciate it. We-- we really appreciate it. Huh? Huh?

Rafe: Your mother and I... yeah, we're having some problems.

Will: Oh, shocker. Sorry.

Rafe: Look, whatever's going on, it's not your mom's fault.

Will: Are you kidding? It's always her fault.

Rafe: Will--

Will: All right, you want me to name all the guys she's had problems with over the years? I mean, Rafe, we don't have the time. I mean, that's all it's been. It's been, like, make-ups and breakups and repeat... repeat, repeat. It's the same old story. Nothing ever lasts.

Rafe: What's up? You're all down on your mother all of a sudden.

Will: Yeah, I am.

Rafe: Something she did, or is something else going on? You want to talk about it?

Will: I broke up with Mia. Again. She was stringing along two guys at once, and I lost out... obviously.

Rafe: Sounds like her loss to me.

Will: Yeah, well, it doesn't feel that way.

Bo: Would you like me to review with you the ways I can make your life a living hell?

Vivian: Oh, please, my heart. I'm not a young woman.

Bo: I noticed.

Vivian: Excuse me?

Bo: So I would suggest you make this easier on yourself.

Vivian: Commissioner, you are very linear in your thinking. You make all these threats that you can't follow through on. Whereas I, on the other hand, make threats and follow through. Au revoir!

Bo: Au revoir.

Carly: How'd it go?

Bo: Nothing I didn't expect. She made some inaccurate assumptions, as usual. She's going down.

Jim: Well...

Abe: Hello, Governor Ford.

Jim: I saw you and your lovely wife and son over here. I thought I'd pay you a visit.

Abe: By all means.

Jim: Mind if I sit?

Lexie: No, no, please.

Jim: So I just got off the telephone with Councilman Keller, and I was telling him how impressed I am with the green Brady pub. Not to mention all the civil projects you've managed to implement around this town.

Abe: I have a very accomplished staff. And the smartest wife in politics.

Lexie: Oh... [Scoffs]

Jim: Well, no argument there. The volunteer program that you started at the hospital is nothing short of revolutionary, Doctor Carver.

Lexie: Oh, well, I don't know about that.

Jim: And what is your name, young man?

Theo: I'm Theo.

Jim: Well, I'm very pleased to meet you, Theo. My name's Jim.

Theo: Hello.

Jim: Hello. You have a beautiful family, Mayor Carver. You're gonna have to excuse me. I've had a long night, and I've got to get back to the hotel. I've got an early morning meeting. But it was really nice running into you.

Abe: Well, the same here, Governor.

Jim: Keep in touch. A pleasure.

Abe: I will. Take care.

Lexie: You can't stand him, can you?

Abe: Aside from the fact that he's ruthlessly ambitious and slick as hell, he's a charmer.

Lexie: Oh, a slick politician--how unusual. And present company excluded, of course.

Abe: [Chuckles] Thank you for that. But I am fairly sure that that man is destined for a higher long as he keeps his nose clean.

Anna: Okay, this is it. Governor Jim is gonna lay his weary head here tonight in this very room.

Nicole: She's not gonna get away with this. No way. No way. I have to talk to someone.

Lois: Well, who can you talk to?

Nicole: Someone who will take my calls. Someone I can trust.

Lois: Wow. Tall order.

Nicole: I've got it. I know exactly who.

Gabi: Oh, my God! Is that what I think it is? He proposed again?

Arianna: He did, and this time I gave him the right answer.

Gabi: And you're just telling me this now?

Arianna: Well, it kind of just happened. Um, actually, I want to ask you to be my maid of honor.

Gabi: No, you do not want to do that.

Arianna: What? Why not?

Gabi: You have to elope. That's the only way.

Brady: You know what I'm really, really dreading, though?

Daniel: No.

Brady: Telling my grandfather.

Daniel: Well, my suggestion-- don't take his reaction to heart, whatever it is.

Brady: No, I won’t. I just don't want it to affect Ari. You know, she's gonna be part of the family now, and I don't need my grandfather making her feel like she doesn't belong.

Gabi: Please, just do it, okay? Just run away and find some justice of the peace or whatever.

Arianna: No, no, no, no. This is my wedding. This is my decision, okay?

Gabi: I know, but--

Arianna: Let's not make this into a problem. I want you to be happy for me. Hmm?

Gabi: You know I am. I'm so happy.

Arianna: Thank you. Come here. Oh, my goodness! Hey, I want you to feel better, okay?

Gabi: Okay, I will.

Arianna: Call me?

Gabi: I will. I love you so much.

Arianna: Okay. I love you too so much. You take care, honey. All right, get back to those books.

Gabi: Oh, yeah, thanks.

Mia: Gabi. How's it going?

Gabi: Like you don't know.

Mia: Oh, you mean about Chad dumping you? Yeah, he told me. I think it was a pretty smart move on his part.

Gabi: I'm out of here.

Mia: Aw, you're upset. I mean, I would be too. It is kind of humiliating.

Gabi: Mia, just drop dead.

Mia: You're gonna be even more upset when I'm through with you.

Sami: [Laughing] I never get tired of seeing her smile. Or cry or...anything. Huh?

EJ: She's just like her mother.

Sami: You think?

EJ: Yeah. Look at the shape of her eyes. And she does that thing that you do when she--she's about to laugh, she scrunches up her nose.

Sami: You hear that, Syd? Sorry about that, babe. Hope you're not too much like me.

EJ: I think she's a very lucky girl.

Brady: So Gabi recommends that we elope?

Arianna: Yeah. But I know you're not into that.

Brady: Oh, hold on.

Arianna: What?

Brady: Who said I wasn't into that?

Arianna: You'd be okay with eloping?

Brady: Yeah. Yeah.

Arianna: Then what's stopping us?

Brady: I have no idea. Let's get on a plane...

Arianna: Okay.

Brady: Find someone to marry us, and not tell a single soul in the universe. You want to do it?

Arianna: You are so on, baby! Thank you.

Vivian: Hello.

Gus: What did the commissioner want, Madam?

Vivian: Oh, just to make idle threats. What else is new?

Gus: Madam is not deterred, I take it?

Vivian: Au contraire, Gus. Bo Brady can make a bumbling ass out of himself, but I will not be distracted from my goal. I will do Lawrence proud.

Bo: No more talk about insane people. You just got your life back. I want to talk about us and our future.

Carly: How 'bout we don't talk at all, okay?

[Pager beeping]

Carly: Oh, wait. Do you hear that?

Bo: No, I don't hear that.

Carly: This is me. I have to call in. I'll be back.

Bo: Okay, you better be. Hey, it's me. Just wanted you to know that this craziness with Vivian... it's gonna end.

EJ: Feeling better?

Sami: Yeah. I think she's finally wearing out. She's gonna be ready for bed soon.

EJ: Good. Well, um... actually, I'm gonna go lie down.

Sami: Rock-a-bye Sydney /Sent from above /God's little angel /Mom's little love/ Now that you're with me…

Man: [Whispering] Okay.

Anna: Oh, wait, wait, wait. I'll take the tray in.

Man: Are you sure?

Anna: Oh, absolutely. The governor and I are actually sharing the room. Shh... so if you take this, I'll handle everything else.

Man: Thank you. Thank you so much.

Anna: No problem. Thanks.

Jim: Unbelievable.

Anna: Nighty-night, Jimmy. Sleep tight.

[Cell phone ringing]

Rafe: Hernandez.

Nicole: Rafe, it's Nicole DiMera. I need to see you right away.

Stephanie: Every word out of your mouth is about Melanie and that stupid letter.

Maggie: Do you still have feelings for Nathan?

Nicole: It's about Sydney. There's something you need to know.
