Chloe: Oh, my God. It's positive. Daniel and I are gonna have a baby.
Daniel: Carly, I don't know what you were doing at Victor's house, but wouldn't it be better if you just stayed away? From Victor? From Vivian?
Carly: Uh, where's Bo? He was here before, right?
Daniel: Uh, yeah, he was, but he got called into work.
Daniel: [Groans] And I got to go myself, okay? Unless you need me.
Carly: No, I'm fine.
Daniel: You sure?
Daniel: Okay. I'll be back. Okay?
Carly: Okay. Thanks.
Carly: Why was I at Victor's? Why can't I figure this out?
Kate: You're not dressed.
Stefano: I'm not going.
Kate: Uh-huh. My son's getting married. You're going.
Stefano: I was not invited.
Kate: Okay, well, I RSVP'd plus one.
Stefano: Well, then why don't you go at the gas station? They got guys hanging around there. They're willing to work for food.
Kate: Stefano, my love, I have enough to deal with today. I'm not going to put up with your petulance.
Philip: You got her to leave, huh?
Victor: Threw her out. And told her if she didn't behave herself at the wedding, we'd throw her out again.
Philip: Well, I got, like, ten text messages and voice mails from her.
Victor: Well, your mother's tenacious, if nothing else.
Philip: Thank you for handling it.
Victor: You know, I may not be the most supportive of fathers, but nobody loves you more than I do, Philip. And now that I've accepted the fact that Melanie is the one that you love, I want it to work out for you, right from the start. Your wedding's gonna be a grand celebration, and I'm not gonna let anybody screw it up for you.
Carly: Stay away from her.
Vivian: It's too late. I've already given her my presents.
Melanie: The comb?
Vivian: Yes, the one with the poison tip.
Vivian: Sorry, my dear.
Carly: Baby. Honey.
Melanie: Carly, I can't-- I can't breathe. Breathe.
Carly: Breathe. Breathe!
Carly: No! Melanie, please don't do this!
Vivian: Now you know what it's like to lose someone you love.
Vivian: [Sighs] How'd it go?
Melanie: Fine. Philip was very sweet. He made me feel very loved.
Vivian: Of course he did. So don't ruin a good thing. Embrace that love. Just live every day as if it were your last. So you are going to marry Philip?
Melanie: Yeah. He really loves me for who I am. That's so important.
Vivian: Of course it is. Well, now that you've come to your senses, you can open your very special wedding gift. Go ahead, dear. Open it.
Hope: Hey, Bo, call me as soon as you get this, okay? It's a work-related issue. Thanks. Vivian... what could you be up to? Oh! Oh, Vivian, I'm so sorry. Sorry about that.
Vivian: Oh, thank you.
Hope: What's wrong?
Vivian: Nothing. Nothing.
Hope: Why do I get the distinctive feeling you don't want me to see what's in this bag? What was in that bag? And why Melanie?
Carly: Victor. Vivian. Melanie.
Kate: As a matter of fact, I had the most silly argument with her this morning over a wedding gift for Melanie. She went absolutely berserk. I thought she was going to have a stroke right then and there. It's funny. That's the same time that I overheard her talking to some guy.
Carly: What do you mean some guy?
Kate: I don't know who he was, but, um, they were talking about you and Melanie.
Carly: That's it. Vivian knows that's why I was there. I wanted to protect my daughter.
Melanie: Oh, Vivian. Wow.
Carly: Bo, she knows. Vivian knows about Melanie. No. Bo, pick up. Pick up. It's me. Bo, Vivian knows about Melanie. She knows that she's my daughter. You have to find her. You have to save my daughter.
Justin: Hey. Just got your message. What's up?
Hope: I just had the strangest conversation with Kate.
Justin: Every conversation with Kate is strange. What'd she say?
Hope: Well, she was telling me about Vivian. The two of them had a fight.
Justin: Hope, you're still not giving me anything new. They hate each other.
Hope: It's what they were fighting about that was interesting. Kate said that Vivian got very agitated about Kate seeing her wedding present for Melanie, and before you--your next smart remark, let me just add this. I had exactly the same experience when I ran into Vivian on the pier last night. She dropped her bag. I almost saw what was in it, and she nearly freaked out.
Justin: Probably her eye of newt, toe of frog.
Hope: No, Justin, she's up to something, and it involves Melanie. You got ask yourself, "why?"
Justin: Oh. So you're saying that Melanie...
Hope: Is the right age.
Justin: Melanie is Carly’s daughter?
Hope: Mm-hmm. And Vivian knows it.
Kate: I have to share billing with Vivian. I need moral support. Every time I think of that vile, trashy woman passing herself off as my son's mother, I could scream.
Stefano: Well, I suppose I could offer something a little more practical than moral support, um... one phone call and I can have the problem with Vivian eliminated.
Melanie: Uh, it's so...
Vivian: Gorgeous? Absolutely gorgeous, isn't it?
Melanie: I was, um, I was gonna say "unusual."
Vivian: Well, just like you.
Melanie: I'm flattered.
Vivian: Well, you should be. Oh, I'm so glad you got over those nagging doubts about Philip.
Melanie: Me too.
Vivian: And now I want your wedding to be one that no one will ever, ever forget. Why don't we see how this looks on you?
Melanie: Sure. Why not?
Vivian: Here, let me do it.
Stephanie: Okay, we're here.
Arianna: Hey, hey.
Arianna: Got something special planned for tonight, or what?
Melanie: Yay. Look what Vivian got me.
Stephanie: Oh, wow, that's beautiful. That's gonna go great with your hair.
Arianna: Aw, when Philip sees you, he's not gonna believe his eyes.
Vivian: Oh, I couldn't agree more.
Stephanie: Uh, okay. I want to propose a toast. Come over here. To, um, let's say... the future... Mrs. Kiriakis. Long may she live.
Vivian: Here, here.
Philip: So it turns out there's a stakeout only Bo can handle, so he's not gonna be here. But I'm pretty sure you can handle everything solo.
Lucas: Yeah, right.
Philip: Yeah, you sound thrilled to be here. And thanks for the toast and everything.
Lucas: Philip, I saw Melanie last night at the pub.
Lucas: Are you sure she's over Nathan?
Nathan: Yeah, it's pretty slow. Stays this way, I should be able to get out of here as soon as my shift's over with.
Nathan: I'll pick you up as soon as the wedding's over, and we are Alpine Valley bound.
Stephanie: I can't wait.
Nathan: Good. How is, uh, how's everything going over there? Um, everyone freaking out, or--?
Stephanie: Uh, no, everyone's fine. I, um, I think it's gonna be a really perfect wedding.
Nathan: Mm, that's great. Um, well, give Philip and, uh... uh, Melanie my best, and I will see you in a little bit, all right?
Stephanie: Right. "Philip and, uh, Melanie"? Well, just 'cause he can't say her name doesn't mean anything.
Chloe: We're having a baby, Daniel. We're having our very own baby.
Daniel: What, is something wrong?
Nathan: No, I'm just thinking.
Daniel: A doctor shouldn't look like that in a hospital waiting room. People will think someone just died.
Nathan: Right. Right.
Melanie: Well, yeah, it's just--it's just strong.
Arianna: Mm-hmm. Tasty, tasty.
Melanie: It is. It’s...
Arianna: Yes, let's have more.
Melanie: I don't, uh...
Arianna: Uh, yep.
Melanie: I think it's going right to my head, 'cause I'm nervous right now.
Arianna: Honey, no reason to be nervous. Here. You're gonna look beautiful.
Melanie: Yeah, I, uh, to tell you the truth...
Melanie: I kind of thought it was gonna be us three.
Arianna: Oh. Okay. So you want me to get her to go? I can do it nicely.
Melanie: I don't think it matters if you do it nicely. She's kind of thin-skinned.
Melanie: She gets weirded out, and she's real hyper.
Arianna: Oh. So how do we get her to go?
Melanie: I don't--I'm not really sure. Um, all I know is she keeps talking about a comb...
Melanie: That she wants to put in my hair. I don't know why. She keeps talking about it like that's the only thing that matters.
Arianna: Okay. Okay, you know what? I can do this. I can get her to go. I mean, I won't literally say "go," but she's gonna get the hint. Watch. Watch.
Melanie: Okay. Hey. Hey, you. Sorry about--sorry about the interruption. Uh, should we put the comb in?
Vivian: No, no, no, no, no. Your friends are here. I'll leave so you can get ready.
Melanie: Yeah, yeah, there-- there's a lot to do.
Vivian: You know, I want to ask you a little favor. Just don't let anybody touch it, you know? It's very delicate. All right?
Melanie: Okay. Absolutely.
Vivian: Well, I am so glad that we had some quality time together last night and this morning, and I want to wish you a very...happy...voyage.
Vivian: Well, I sort of think of it like a spiritual... journey.
Melanie: I, uh...
Carly: Melanie, it's Carly Manning. Oh, God, I hope you get this in time, honey. Um, I know it's your wedding day, but you have to be very, very careful with Vivian. Do you hear me? You stay away from her. I know it sounds strange, but your life could depend upon it.
Melanie: I mean, uh, I know the woman isn't run of the mill, you know, or whatever, but it's like she was saying good-bye, not congratulations.
Arianna: Okay, you know what? She's gone, so this is what we're gonna do. We're gonna take a few deep breaths. Push her out of your mind. Gone.
Stephanie: Okay, what's up?
Melanie: Hi. Uh, I'm being weird.
Stephanie: You're supposed to be. You're getting married today.
Melanie: Not this weird. I don't usually get this weird.
Arianna: No, I know what the problem is. More champagne. Here we go.
Melanie: Thank you.
Arianna: Drink up, baby.
Melanie: Just--I, um... the--mm. Mm-hmm. I just--the woman is--is-- she's driving me insane.
Stephanie: Well, she may be eccentric, but she does have beautiful taste. It's so elegant--
Melanie: Oh, no, no. Don't touch that. No. Mm-mm.
Gus: Madame, please. You're scaring me.
Vivian: Lovely girl. I could just strangle Carly for putting me in this situation.
Gus: Courage, Madame, courage. I do have good news.
Vivian: You do? Oh, Augustine, you're my rock. I need good news.
Gus: Dr. Manning is indeed at the hospital. Apparently, she's been kept overnight for observation.
Vivian: [Sighs] Thank you. Is--is she in pain? Is she hurt? Is she--oh, my God. She's awake? I--I can't go through with killing Melanie if she's going to sleep through it.
Gus: She's awake. And she can't stop you now.
Vivian: But we can't be sure of that, can we? I--I don't want anything to go wrong with the wedding.
Gus: I'll take care of it. Gave the girl the comb?
Vivian: Everything's in place and the poison is untraceable. It's slow-acting. And if we're lucky, she'll just collapse in agony in front of everyone, and the only one who's going to even suspect anything is Carly.
Maggie: Okay. Ooh. Oh! Oh! Oh, no.
[Knock at door]
Nathan: Hey. What are you doing?
Carly: I have to get out of here.
Nathan: Um, no, Dr. Jonas wants you in overnight for observation. You're--you're concussed.
Carly: I can’t. I have to get out, okay?
Nathan: No, what you have to do is get back in bed, all right? Dr. Jonas gave strict orders.
Carly: All right, look, just go get the discharge papers and I'll sign out, okay? You won't get in trouble.
Nathan: It's not me that I'm worried about, okay? Look, you have to get back in bed.
Carly: I can’t.
Nathan: What is it that you have to do? Can I do it for you?
Carly: No, I have to get to Melanie.
Hope: Okay, so Melanie thinks that her mother died when she was just a baby. She lived in Europe. So did Carly. So it's got to-- wait a minute.
Justin: All of a sudden, you don't sound as sure as you did a second ago.
Hope: Carly's not my most favorite person in the world, but I have a hard time imagining her partnering with Melanie’s father.
Justin: You knew him?
Hope: It's a miracle she turned out as well as she did. Trent Robbins was truly a vile man.
Justin: Well, Carly married Lawrence Alamain. Evidently she likes dangerous men.
Hope: No, no, no. Trent Robbins wasn't the attractive kind of dangerous. He was dangerous like a disease.
Justin: Oh. Sorry I never met him. But you still think that Melanie is Carly’s daughter?
Hope: She could be.
Ciara: Yes, she is.
Stephanie: Uh, I'm sorry?
Melanie: No, it's, uh, it's fine. Just--um, I didn't mean to jump on you. She's got me freaked out about this comb thing.
Stephanie: Don't worry about it. I shouldn't have picked it up anyway.
Vivian: Darling, did I leave my-- what the hell do you think you're doing?
Philip: All right, I'll bite. What did Melanie say?
Lucas: She was asking a lot of questions about Nathan.
Philip: She just came up to you and started grilling you about Nathan?
Lucas: No, I--I brought it up.
Lucas: Because I was trying to help you.
Philip: 'Cause you thought after the year I've had, maybe my life should be more complicated, that you should stir up trouble right before I get married?
Lucas: No, that's not what I was doing at all.
Philip: What did you think would happen... when the best man decides to grill my fiancée about her ex?
Lucas: You know, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I--I want you to be happy, man. And I like Melanie. But don't you think she's a little young, you know, to be getting married?
Philip: All of this is pretty much none of your business, is it?
Lucas: Look, I made the same mistake with Chloe. I rushed into things. And I want to make sure you don't do the same thing.
Philip: Oh, so you screwed up your life, and now you want me to screw up mine? Is that right?
Nathan: Well, Melanie’s getting married today, so she's a little busy.
Carly: I have--I have to talk to her and make sure she's all right.
Nathan: All right, well, I just spoke with Stephanie. She's helping her get ready. She said everything's fine.
Carly: Thank God.
Nathan: All right, now, please get back into bed.
Carly: No, I still need to talk with her.
Nathan: Okay, I will call Stephanie for you.
Carly: No, in person, okay? It's important.
Nathan: All right, look, Dr. Manning...
Nathan: You and I both know that head injuries can induce anxiety. Now listen. I'm sure that Melanie is fine. I just--
Carly: No, no.
Nathan: I will make sure that she's fine, okay? You give me a message and I will deliver it for you, but right now, I need you to get back into this bed. Okay? You don't want me to go get some orderlies, now do you?
Nathan: All right. Thank you. Now, listen. I'll be right back. Meanwhile, just try and lay down and relax, all right? All right.
Carly: Sorry, Nathan. She has to hear this from me.
Hope: So, uh, Carly told Daddy what, honey? That she's Melanie’s mommy? And she was gonna tell Melanie that?
Ciara: Can I go back to Grandma?
Hope: Yeah, sure. Go ahead, sweetheart. Have fun. Don't eat too many cookies. But you know what? Vivian already knew that Melanie was Carly’s daughter. I mean, somehow or another, she nailed that one down.
Justin: And then bought her a present that she didn't want anyone to know about.
Hope: We need to get to Melanie.
Justin: Before Vivian does.
Vivian: Put that down. Carefully.
Melanie: Okay, Vivian? You need to--you need to dial it down. Can't talk to my friends like that, okay?
Vivian: Oh, I'm sorry.
Stephanie: Don't worry about it. I shouldn't have touched it, anyways.
Arianna: Wow. Where did you find that? I've never seen anything like that.
Vivian: Oh, it's an heirloom. I think my great, great grandmother wore it at an auto de fé.
Arianna: Mm. There was a reason that you came back here. What was it?
Vivian: Oh, yes, yes, yes. My little bag.
Arianna: Oh, and there it is.
Arianna: And you know what?
Arianna: I want to hear all about that comb and all the stories that go with it after the ceremony, but we have so many things we need to do.
Vivian: I know. When you're ready to put that comb in, you let me do it, 'cause I know just how to do it. And one more thing. I--
Stephanie: That was really, really impressive. You got her to leave just like you wanted.
Arianna: Aw, you know what? I learned from one of the prison matrons. So... let's get you dressed.
Gus: What took you so long?
Vivian: I ran into one of those horrible girls, and she was holding the comb.
Vivian: By the crown. She didn't touch the teeth. This is the most nerve-racking day.
Gus: Madame, I should be going. Will you be all right?
Vivian: Yes, yes. I can't waver now. Not when we're so close.
Gus: You're very strong.
Vivian: Yes, I am. I have to be. For Lawrence.
Stefano: Thank you. Yes, you can put it on my account. And add a 20% gratuity for the service provided. Uh-huh.
Kate: Well, you do know the most helpful people.
Stefano: [Sighs] You know, I was once offered over a million dollars for my rolodex.
Kate: Really? Where do you keep that?
Stefano: Up here. Well, now that I have cleared the way of your competition, I think I will go get dressed, and we can get going.
Kate: Ah, you're coming, hmm?
Stefano: Yes, well, you were right, you know? I was just being--how did you put it? Petulant.
Kate: Petulant, yes.
Stefano: Yeah. Well, I'm sure that my name being omitted from the guest list was a mere, um, oversight, huh? Besides, I want to get even with Victor for attending our wedding.
Kate: Mm-hmm. You will be nice to Philip, right?
Stefano: I'm always nice to Philip. Drives him crazy.
Maxine: Dr. Jonas just left. You want me to page him?
Nathan: No, just, uh... I mean, he's been on duty forever. Just--just check on Dr. Manning every once in a while. She seems, uh, a little agitated.
Maxine: Well, I'm short-staffed here, otherwise I'd check on her myself.
Nathan: No, that's fine. Uh, I think I talked her down.
Maxine: Where are you going?
Nathan: Uh, something I have to take care of. I'll be right back. Oh, jeez. Sorry.
Gus: No problem.
Nathan: Excuse me.
Gus: Nice to see you again, Dr. Manning.
[Sighs] You home?
Chloe: I'll be right out.
Daniel: Oh, man, what a day. I was hoping to get home earlier, but guess who I picked up as a patient? Carly Manning.
Chloe: Thought you were late.
Daniel: Oh. Yeah, on top of that, now I got to take over her shift. Look, I'm sorry, honey. I'm not gonna be able to take you to Melanie’s wedding.
Chloe: Sounds like you had a terrible day.
Daniel: You could say that.
Chloe: Well, I have some news that I think is gonna cheer you up. In fact, it's the best news ever. Daniel?
Arianna: You look awesome.
Melanie: Thank you. So, okay, it's time. Let's go get Vivian, tell her I'm ready.
Arianna: Okay, here's the deal. She puts the comb in, and then we get her out of your hair. No pun intended.
Melanie: It's all right. Look, I know she's, um...
Melanie: Aggressive. I don’t... I don't know. I think underneath all of it, she's just shy.
Arianna: That woman shy?
Melanie: I--I think that-- maybe she didn't have a lot of girlfriends growing up.
Stephanie: I wonder why that is.
Melanie: I'm about to get married, so maybe I just want to be nice before "I do."
Arianna: Okay. I will go get her.
Melanie: She can stay as long as she wants.
Arianna: Whatever you want.
Vivian: Oh, uh, so, uh, are we ready?
Lucas: I'm sorry, all right? I'm sorry. Let's just let it go, okay?
Philip: That's fine. God knows I've screwed up before, but I really don't think I am this time. I really don’t.
Lucas: Well, good, good. Here. Here's to you and Melanie. May you have all the happiness in the world.
Philip: Thank you. And thanks for standing up for me. I know it's not a favorite pastime to be hanging out with Chloe and Daniel.
Lucas: Not to mention dear old Mom.
Philip: You know, one of the first things that got me about Melanie was how she handles my family. They don't faze her at all.
Lucas: That's 'cause they haven't tried to kill her yet.
Philip: You know, after Sami and Chloe, I don't think even Mom has the nerve to go after her. Nah, I think she's safe.
Hope: Well, I just realized. Now that I'm back on the force, I have to be careful how I handle this case. Private citizen Brady could have tied Vivian to a chair and gone through her stuff, but now I have to respect her rights.
Hope: I could go to Carly, but then again, I'm not supposed to know about her deep, dark secret.
Justin: You're trying to protect her daughter. I don't think she'll care. Tell me something. Do you think Carly knows that Vivian’s up to something?
Hope: Vivian's always up to something. She must have some idea. You know, once again, I'm gonna need your help.
Justin: Sure. Name it.
Hope: Do me a favor. Could you take Ciara home and keep an eye on her and I'll get back to you?
Justin: 'Course. Hope, be careful, okay?
Hope: Justin, don't worry. Vivian has no idea I'm onto her. Hey, uh, Bo, it's me again. Sorry to bother you again, but I really need to talk to you. It's about Carly.
Philip: I wonder how Melanie’s doing. I know she wants everything today to be perfect.
Lucas: Well, if she wants that, I think she picked the wrong family, don't you?
Philip: You mean you're not sure if Mom and Vivian will be playing nice?
Lucas: I think your Dad'll watch 'em. You know, he always seems to smooth things over between the two of 'em.
Philip: I keep telling myself Mom won't have the nerve to bring Stefano.
Lucas: How many times have we said Mom wouldn't have the nerve to do something?
Philip: She always has the nerve.
Lucas: Yep. And the reserve of nerve you never dreamed existed.
Philip: Oh, my God. Melanie and I should have eloped.
Lucas: No, no, I think you'll be all right. You'll be okay. You'll be fine. What could go wrong?
Kate: Well, I can't believe today of all days I am feeling so lighthearted. Thanks to you, my dear Stefano, Vivian won't know what hit her. Literally.
Stefano: I love to see you happy.
Kate: You spoil me. You know, for so long, I thought everything was on my shoulders.
Stefano: Mm. Listen. It can be very lonely.
Kate: You understand, don't you?
Kate: I think that... I think that you're right. I think we keep growing closer.
Stefano: Well then, could you do me, um... well, a favor? I guess.
Kate: Oh, what's that, my love?
Stefano: Well, if you feel that you have to deal with Melanie, all right? And if, uh, you feel that you have to deal with her the same as you dealt with Chloe... let me know. We could share.
Kate: Ah. I can trust you that much?
Stefano: Yes, you can.
Hope: Okay, but if I don't hear back in five minutes, I'm moving. Got it.
Victor: Can I get you something?
Hope: Hey, Victor. No, thanks. I'm on duty.
Victor: Oh, looks very taxing.
Hope: Wait a second. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at the wedding? Or getting ready for the wedding?
Victor: Everybody at my house is getting ready for the wedding. All the rooms are full of people.
Hope: Yeah, I'm really sorry I won't be able to make it.
Victor: Yeah, it's just it's Philip’s first wedding. I wouldn't lay any odds it's going to be his last.
Hope: Ooh. You're in a terrible mood. Did something happen?
[Cell phone rings]
Melanie: Sorry, sorry. I'm just a bundle of nerves right now.
Maggie: Hi. Uh, Stephanie, I'm sorry to bother you.
Stephanie: No bother. Is everything okay?
Maggie: Um, I know Melanie’s phone isn't working. Um, is she there with you? I--I need to talk with her.
Stephanie: Yeah, yeah. Hold on one second, okay?
Maggie: Sweetie? Listen, um... I'm sorry about this, but, uh, I'm not feeling very well.
Melanie: You're not feeling well? What's wrong?
Maggie: Um, it's nothing serious. I just don't think I'm gonna be able to make it to your wedding.
Kate: Well, if that-- if that's true...
Kate: And I think it is. That means that you can trust me too, which means that you can destroy that evidence that you have against me. You don't have to keep it hanging over my head.
Stefano: Well... Katarina, don't be ridiculous.
Kate: It was worth a shot.
Kate: So what exactly are you going to do to Vivian?
Stefano: Darling, don't you want to be surprised?
Victor: You know what I hate?
Hope: Yeah. That you're not in charge.
Victor: Chatter. House is full of chatter. That's what I always liked about you--no chatter.
Hope: And yet you invite Vivian into your house.
Victor: Yes, well, seemed like a good idea at the time.
Hope: Victor, um, is there something you'd possibly like to tell me about Vivian?
Maggie: I'm so sorry.
Melanie: Can't--can't you think it over? Don't--don't you think maybe you could just come later if you want?
Maggie: Melanie, you know that wouldn't be fair, because maybe whatever it is I have is contagious.
Melanie: Okay. I understand. Um... I'm gonna miss you so much, Maggie. I love you.
Maggie: I love you too, darling. Forgive me for disappointing you. I wish I didn't have to.
Melanie: Don't give it another thought. You just feel better, okay? I'll call you after.
Maggie: Don't be silly. You have a wonderful day, okay? And we'll talk soon enough. When... when you're Mrs. Philip Kiriakis.
Melanie: Yeah, we'll talk all the time. Bye, Maggie.
Maggie: Bye, sweetie.
Melanie: I can't do this.
Carly: Where am I?
Gus: Six feet under. Bring back memories?
Lucas: I'm gonna make sure this wedding goes off without a hitch.
Victor: Vivian is not going to hurt Melanie.
