Bo: I always thought you looked beautiful by the light of the tree. I didn't hear you come in, but it’s good to have you back here. Glad you dropped by.
Hope: I just had a few more presents that I needed to put under the tree. And I know that you always forget to water the tree.
Bo: See, you're needed around here.
Hope: Oh, those are for you. Don't peek. I'll know if you do.
Bo: All I want for Christmas is you and Ciara home.
Hope: Well, that's up to you.
Henderson: These just came for you, ma'am.
Vivian: Oh, lovely, Henderson, put them down. The cards, Henderson, the cards. The secrets they reveal to the talented reader. Is there anything you'd like to know?
Henderson: When you're going.
Henderson: I was just wondering if madam was going out this evening.
Vivian: Oh, yes, I am abandoning you tonight.
Henderson: I'll struggle through.
Vivian: Oh, quelle surprise. The card of justice. What could that mean, Carly? What could that mean?
Lexie: [Laughs] Seeing you with that chart, it's like you never left.
Carly: Oh, I'm so glad to be back.
Lexie: I heard the board approved your application. Congratulations.
Carly: Thank you. I have to admit I'm a little scared. It's been a long time.
Lexie: Yeah, well, you know, it's making life-and-death decisions under conditions of extreme stress. So it's a nice break from family life, huh?
Maxine: You were supposed to give the man a sponge bath, not a critique.
Melanie: Come on, did you see the guy? Are you telling me he wouldn't benefit from an aerobic workout?
Maxine: He's 87 years old. And more than that, he is a trustee of this hospital. Girl, you could use some work on your people skills.
Melanie: And be sweet like you?
Maxine: You can start by introducing yourself to the new attending. And I want you on your best behavior with her.
Melanie: Sweet. Point her out. I'll have her eating out of the palm of my hands in two minutes.
Maxine: That's her right over there.
Melanie: Great. The woman I kicked out of my house. [Sighs]
Brady: You're nuts. You know that? You--you're crazy. Listen, don't you ever think that you can trust EJ DiMera. Don't ever believe that there's a human being in there somewhere, all right? And most importantly don't ever feel sorry for the guy.
Arianna: His daughter is missing. His wife lied to him for over a year, kidnapped his child, but you think it's okay to feel sorry for her.
Brady: Oh, oh, great, here we go.
Arianna: You know, I don't think that you have a right to tell me how to feel about anything.
Brady: Don't you understand that the reason she did the things she did was because of the man he is.
Arianna: She tried to have my brother murdered, Brady. She is right where she belongs-- in jail.
Nicole: So I give them the clue about how to find my baby, and they just what--they cut me out like I wasn't part of Sydney's life? What, they just forget about me?
EJ: I haven't forgotten about you. Not by a long shot.
Nicole: EJ. Did they find Sydney?
EJ: Then why are you here? To gloat?
EJ: I'm here because you are gonna tell me everything that you know about who my father is working with. And you're gonna tell me right now.
Woman: The itsy-bitsy spider went up the water spout down came the rain and washed the spider out…
Rafe: Oh, thanks for getting back to me.
Tim: Can you talk? Is Sami there?
Rafe: Oh, it's okay. She went to bed early.
Tim: So what's up?
Rafe: Well, like I said, from what Nicole says, and we now have forensic confirmation that she's telling the truth, it looks like it's a woman who's working with Stefano.
Tim: Narrowing the suspect pool about 50%.
Rafe: Yeah, but we need to be sure.
Tim: Okay, how soon do you need this favor?
Rafe: Like ten minutes ago.
Tim: I'll do my best.
Rafe: Thanks, Tim.
Davis: This is Officer Davis.
Rafe: Hey, it's Hernandez. What's he up to?
Davis: He's sound asleep.
Rafe: All right, well, not for long 'cause I'm on my way.
Bo: No wonder you're the best interrogator on the force. It's like second nature for you to turn things back on the perp.
Hope: You're not the perp.
Bo: Yeah, well, I'm kind of feeling like one. You know, let's just go over the facts here. You take our daughter and move out of the house. I say, "Hope, please move back." And you say, "No, that's up to you." It's not up to me, Fancy Face. I can't drag you back here. They have laws against that kind of thing. Can you see we're--we're stuck in a pattern here? So tell me, please, just tell me. How do we get out of this pattern? Because it's driving me crazy.
EJ: I want you to tell me everything that you just told Roman. Now.
Nicole: Well, I don't remember much, okay, but I remember a very beautiful pair of women's boots the second that I was hit, so I realized that it was a woman who hit me and a woman who took Sydney.
EJ: Yeah, I always thought my father was working with a woman.
EJ: Yeah. You.
Nicole: Oh, EJ.
EJ: Look, Nicole, the two of you were in league for months. You can't expect me to just forget about all that.
Nicole: Well, I didn't hit myself over the head.
EJ: Right. And now you just miraculously remember this woman in boots. Hmm? And now suddenly the police are all running around with federal agents on some wild goose chase.
Nicole: No, I wouldn't do that. I am just trying to help, EJ, to make sure Sydney is safe.
EJ: Maybe you know she's safe. Maybe you and my father are just wasting everybody's time until you can figure out your next move.
Nicole: I know you hate me. And I know that you think that I'm capable of anything. But I am not working with your father. I don't know where Sydney is, and I am begging you to do anything to find this woman, EJ. I know she has Sydney. I know she does.
Tim: So I have something that can be administered under the radar. Doesn't leave any traces in the bloodstream, but it's highly effective.
Rafe: Thanks, Tim.
Tim: Don't screw up. And if you do, I'll go into a court of law and put my hand on the bible and say I never gave you that.
Rafe: All right, don't you worry. No one's gonna screw up. And no one's gonna know that you gave this to me.
Rafe: I just realized this is the first time I'm actually looking forward to talking to a DiMera.
Melanie: Dr. Manning.
Carly: Nurse Layton. It's good to see you.
Melanie: Actually, it's ‘student nurse’ Layton, and you don't have to say it's good to see me. You and I both know that's not the case.
Carly: How is your arm? Did it ever blister?
Melanie: Uh, no. And it wasn't really that big of a deal. I'm sorry. I made it such a big deal. I'm also sorry I wouldn't let you live at Maggie's house.
Carly: No, it probably worked out for the best. You know, it's hard for people to work and live together. Who knows? We might have gotten on each other's nerves.
Melanie: You think?
Vivian: Melanie. Darling. What a divine coincidence.
Carly: You know her?
Vivian: Well, I-I must say, though. A fashion catastrophe. You look a bit like a student nurse.
Vivian: Uh, I am a student nurse.
Vivian: Ah. Well, someone has to be one, don't they? One just never expects to meet one personally.
Melanie: Uh, sure. Yeah, I have some bed pans to pick up, so don't have time for a chat, so...
Vivian: Scrappy little thing. Don't much like that.
Carly: Vivian, you visiting someone? Can I help you find that special someone, so you don't have to stay here longer than necessary?
Vivian: Visiting someone?
Carly: The flowers. They're for a patient, right?
Vivian: Carly. The flowers are for you.
Brady: I thought we weren't gonna fight about this.
Arianna: If you don't want to fight, then you need to stop trying to tell me what a swell gal Nicole is.
Brady: Come on, I never said that.
Arianna: Her secret was more important than Rafe's life.
Brady: All right. It was horrible, all right, what she did. I'm not defending her actions. I'm just saying that's what happens when you think you can handle the DiMeras.
Arianna: Okay, EJ had nothing to do with that. Actually, he was the one that saved Rafe's life. And he's in real pain right now.
Brady: He's always in pain. You know, let me tell you about pain. Why don't you go to Sami and ask her what it's like when EJ serves custody papers to you at your daughter's funeral? Better yet, why don't you ask Stephanie Johnson what it's like to run out of air when you're trapped in a freaking morgue drawer?
Arianna: Okay, all right, all right, I get it.
Brady: Arianna, Nicole does deserve to be in prison for some of the things she has done. But make no mistake--so does he.
EJ: You know, I just spoke with Roman. He thinks you're telling the truth.
Nicole: He does?
EJ: Yeah. They found some forensic evidence, apparently, that probably corroborates your story.
Nicole: Well, does he know who the woman is?
EJ: They need some more information. Information that you, sweetheart, are gonna provide.
EJ: I know you know. Okay? You remembered that much. You can remember more. Come on.
Nicole: No, I can't, I can't.
Nicole: That is so like you. "Just do it, Nicole. Do as I say. I decree you to remember." I used to think that you were so strong. I would do anything for you, I loved you that much.
EJ: Yeah, well, that's over now, all right.
Nicole: I wish it were, but it's not.
Stefano: [Exhales] Guard. Guard! I need some water.
Davis: Here you go.
Rafe: They say you should drink at least eight glasses a day.
Stefano: Go away.
Rafe: Well... no. Actually, you and I, we're gonna have a little chat.
Brady: What are you thinking about?
Arianna: When I was talking to EJ earlier... I had my guard up. Um, I didn't trust him at all. And then he just fell apart over Sydney, and I let my guard down. I mean, I really felt for him. And I can't afford to do that. He said something to me. It was, like, in passing, but it...
Brady: What? What?
Arianna: He said that he didn't bump into me, that he tracked me down.
Brady: Excuse me.
Arianna: Well, I kinda think that he was just trying to get a rise out of me.
Brady: Well, he got a rise out of me. You know what, he-- you can't just track women down. It's time that guy understands that.
Arianna: No, no, no, I don't want you to do anything. Please just let it go.
Brady: I'm not gonna let it go. It's time that EJ DiMera gets what's coming to him.
Melanie: Oh, yeah, no, amen, that dude is a total jerk. It's usually him. [Shivers]
Vivian: I was very clear with the florist. I told her the woman is not subtle. We don't want delicate. We're not looking for pretty.
Carly: Vivian, it's a hospital.
Vivian: Yes, I know, dear. Death, disease, and antiseptic smells--just your milieu.
Carly: And I'm working, so why don't you--let me make sure I'm phrasing this properly-- get the hell out of here.
Vivian: I know that you want to feel important, so I'll be on my way. Victor and I just wanted to mark your return to the killing fields--uh, stomping grounds.
Vivian: Oh, there, you've pried it out of me. Mon compere is now mon amour. Love of my life. My boyfriend.
Carly: You and Victor.
Vivian: I know it sounds mad, impetuous...
Vivian: Oh, no, but, you see, it's even sweeter now. We share more than just animal passion.
Carly: What, like your Polident?
Vivian: How...tactless of me to talk about my happiness when you've just been widowed. Alone. Shut out. On the shelf. Hopeless.
Carly: Vivian. Vivian. Good-bye.
Vivian: You know, it's really a shame... that Lawrence had to die. Now you have nothing but misery.
Hope: That... that is a good question.
Bo: Do you have an answer?
Hope: I just--it's... I'm so used to getting things clear in my head by talking to you. But we don't do that anymore. We spar. And at the end of every conversation that we do have, I feel like we haven't gotten anywhere.
Bo: Right. I know.
Hope: And then you act like it's all me. That you're fine and happy and everything's great and that I'm the one who's making all the problems. If you were really happy, really happy, I would know it. You're not happy.
Bo: No. I'm not.
Carly: Is that a threat?
Vivian: Do people who make threats bring flowers?
Lexie: Carly, I have a patient in 427 complaining of chest... Vivian.
Carly: Like nachos at bedtime, she keeps coming back. Vivian, I know the perfect place for your flowers.
Lexie: Well, looks like the two of you have patched things up nicely.
Vivian: Carly, I forgot to say good night.
Melanie: No, so I was in the hospital with this one after EJ's goons beat him up, and all he could think about was how I got off easy. I mean, EJ never had me beaten up--he just took all my money.
Arianna: Wow. I can't believe I ever felt sorry for him.
Brady: That sounded really heart-felt. Listen, I gotta go.
Arianna: Wait, you're not gonna go mix it up with EJ, right?
Brady: Right, because of all the pain he's in right now. I don't want to hurt his feelings or anything.
Arianna: You know, because I think that we have a lot on our plates right now.
Brady: I'm not going there anyway. I'm gonna go talk to Roman and see if there's any more leads concerning Sydney, but... Melanie, good to see you.
Melanie: Uh, okay, all right. You know how I always listen to you?
Arianna: Actually, I'm the one that listens to you.
Melanie: Ha-ha. But then you tell me what to do, and I do it, so now it's my turn. If you let EJ get in between you and Brady, then you're an idiot. Because EJ is poison. I mean it.
EJ: You love me?
EJ: That's sweet.
Nicole: I'm masochistic. You know, I really--I really want you to go now, EJ.
Nicole: We're playing hard to get, are we?
Nicole: It is hard for me to look at you through the bars.
EJ: Well, I don't know. I quite like these. So... you told Roman about boots. Now what I want to know is, what didn't you tell him?
Nicole: I told him everything that I remembered. I told him that I saw women's boots, that I heard a woman's voice. I am not holding anything back.
EJ: The voice. The voice. You recognize the voice?
Nicole: Yeah. Yeah, I recognized the voice. Just--I didn't mention it. I let it slip my mind because I know who has my baby. I just chose not to share.
EJ: She's not your baby. She's my baby. She's Samantha's baby.
Nicole: I know. Okay, I know.
EJ: She's not yours.
Nicole: I know. You can stand there and pour salt in my wounds, EJ, or you could talk to someone who knows something, like Stefano.
EJ: Nicole, we both know, if Stefano decides he's not gonna say anything, nobody is gonna get him to talk.
Stefano: Talking to you is a waste of breath.
Rafe: You know how many people would love to be in my shoes right now?
Stefano: What the hell are you talking about?
Rafe: To talk to Stefano DiMera and get the truth. The whole truth. Nothing but the truth.
Stefano: What did you do? You--you put something in the drink?
Rafe: Mm. Yeah, it's just a couple of drops. I can't pronounce it in Latin, but the words "truth serum" mean anything to you?
Rafe: Well, all right, then. Where should we start? Boxers or briefs?
Stefano: You're a sneaky bastard, aren't you? You know, you cannot do this.
Rafe: Yeah, well, see, the thing is, I already did. Now I'm gonna be very clear. I'm gonna do whatever it takes to get Sami's child back... and to put you and your lady friend away forever.
Arianna: So EJ had Brady beaten up?
Melanie: Yeah, I was really worried about him. Oh, I mean, thank God that scar he got was just behind his ear. I mean, that face is classic cute.
Arianna: Yeah. So why? Why--what did Brady do?
Melanie: Why, he went to EJ and Nicole's wedding.
Arianna: To try and stop it.
Melanie: No, to catch the bouquet. Where are you going? I'm kidding.
Arianna: I'm gonna go talk to that cute guy. Yeah. I hope it's not too late.
Melanie: I'm getting pretty good at this relationship thing.
Carly: Your blood pressure is fine, Mrs. Parker.
Mrs. Parker: Really?
Carly: Yeah, I think the chest pains are probably a little indigestion, but just to be safe, I'm gonna keep you here for a couple hours of observation. So just relax, get some sleep. Okay? See you in a couple of hours.
[Cell phone buzzes]
Vivian: Dear Carly, welcome back to the workforce.
Bo: You think that helps?
Hope: Admitting that you're unhappy? Yes. Yes, I do, because it's honest. And it says that this isn't just about me, that it's about the both of us.
Bo: Yeah. It is about the both of us. Hope, when we got married, we said that stuff about for better and for worse. This is kind of feeling worse. We also said we'd stick it out together.
Hope: You've made that promise more than once. To more than one woman.
Bo: Now who's taking us off the track?
Hope: I'm sorry. Okay. That was so uncalled for. I am sorry. I just--I... [Groans] [Sighs]
Hope: I-I'm really--I'm worried about something, and I think that you're gonna be really mad. And maybe that's not fair. But I keep thinking about it.
Bo: Thinking about-- all right, I won't get mad. Just tell me what's bothering you.
Hope: Carly's secret.
Hope: Bo. I keep thinking about you and Billie. When you found out that your daughter was still alive. And now that Carly's back and you won't tell me--
Bo: Hope, listen to me--
Hope: Just tell me, please. Please. Tell me you and Carly didn't have a baby. Tell me.
Bo: You really think that?
Hope: I'm worried about it. Brady, I'm worried--
Bo: This secret of Carly's is about her life. Not mine. She is out of this house. And her secret has nothing to do with you, me, or us.
Hope: And I have to take that on faith, right?
Bo: You have to trust me, your husband... for now.
Brady: Are you collecting for the EJ DiMera defense fund?
Arianna: That's very funny. Um, I want to talk to you.
Brady: Come on in.
Arianna: No, no, no, actually, um, not here. I don't think that we both want your grandfather to see us together, so can we go somewhere else?
Brady: Sure. Um, how about the Java Cafe? Is that cool?
Arianna: Actually, I have a better idea.
EJ: My God, my life. I mean, I have to find my daughter, and the answer lies between you and my father, neither of whom I can trust.
Nicole: I didn't have anything to do with what happened in that bus station. I am just trying to help.
EJ: Maybe. Maybe. In which case, my father has another accomplice.
Nicole: EJ, he wouldn't have anyone take care of her that wouldn't be good to her. I mean, your father loves Sydney. She's gonna be all right, isn't she?
EJ: All right? All right? Nicole, she was all right when she was sleeping and living with her mother and father next-door. She was all right before you stole her.
Nicole: Don't you think I regret it? I was calling to bring her back before it--before it happened.
EJ: Whoa, whoa, whoa.
EJ: You were calling. You called me, you called Brady, then you tried to call Samantha. It was clear you'd bring her back. And then bang, and the baby's gone, and... that's when he made his move. Right then. He took her because he didn't trust me to bring up my own daughter. Damn!
Stefano: You can't do this.
Rafe: Well, it would appear as though I already have. You're not gonna spill any secrets to me, right?
Rafe: Just name, rank, and serial number. Man, you better focus.
Rafe: Whoo. Closing in on truth time, my man.
Stefano: Nothing, nothing that I say can be held against me because this is totally illegal.
Rafe: [Scoffs] Illegal? You think I care? It's not like this has to be admitted into evidence. All I need to do is get Sydney back for Sami. Whoo. Look at you. Well, I think we're pretty close to go time here, my man, so, what do you say, man, we have a few warm-up questions? Like, I don't know, your favorite Beatle or first pet's name-- oh, I got it. Did you try and kill me?
Rafe: All right. That's right. That’s splitting hairs. Did you pay someone to try and kill me?
Stefano: I... [Chuckles] Oh, yes, I did.
Rafe: [Laughs] You did.
Rafe: That's great, Mr. DiMera. You see, the truth, it'll set you free. Okay, next category: Baby switch for 300.
Stefano: You really are a smug son of a bitch, aren't you?
Rafe: Now why don't you just save your breath for the next question, okay, Pops? Now... did you help Nicole with the baby switch?
Stefano: Yes, yes, yes. Yes.
Rafe: Do you have a granddaughter named Sydney?
Rafe: Do you know where Sydney is right now?
Hope: Was that a threat?
Bo: I'm just being honest. If you don't trust me, I don't see that we have much of a marriage.
Hope: Do you have any idea at all what this is doing to me? Do you even care? What-- what am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to just push down my feelings because that works out best for Carly?
Bo: Fancy Face, you're telling me that you don't have any faith in me.
Hope: Oh, God, here we go again. I ask something of you, and you aren't able to give it to me.
Bo: No, you demand information and won't accept that, first of all, it's not mine to give. Second of all, you don't have any right to it.
Hope: But Carly's rights trump everything, right? Right? Even our marriage.
Bo: That's how you put it.
Hope: No. This is how I put it. I love you, Brady. I love you.
Bo: And I love you. But, apparently, that's not enough for you.
Hope: No. No, it's not.
Brady: This is your bedroom, Ari.
Arianna: Yup. You're very observant.
Brady: Your bed right here.
Arianna: Yes, it is. You're very, very observant.
Brady: Hey, hey, what do you think, I'm easy or something? I mean, what is this?
Arianna: I kind of hope so. My goodness.
Brady: Are you kidding me? We were having a conversation. We should probably talk about our disagreement that we had.
Arianna: Yeah, you know, I had this idea that maybe we should just, I don't know, move to plan B.
Brady: I think I'm gonna like plan B.
Vivian: Melanie. Darling. Let me buy you some coffee. You must be exhausted from that grueling, demeaning job you have.
Melanie: Mm, you know, we have a volunteer spot open. I could put in a good word for you.
Vivian: Good idea.
Melanie: I mean, it would be a way for you to give back.
Vivian: I have no idea what that means. What--what do you think Philip should get you for Christmas?
Melanie: Uh, I don't know. That's kind of up to him, isn't it?
Victor: Oh, so young. So much to learn. You see, a woman's duty is to guide a man to an expression of love and esteem.
Melanie: How romantic.
Vivian: Well, you know, I'm old-fashioned, but, even in this market, I'm always quite moved by a gift of real estate.
Vivian: [Chuckles] Well, I cannot wait to see what Philip leaves under that Christmas tree on Christmas morning.
Melanie: Oh, well, that's not gonna happen because Philip and I are spending a quiet Christmas alone.
Vivian: You have good instincts. Very good instincts. Tell me, how long have you been working with my dear, old friend Dr. Manning?
Melanie: Well, tonight was her first night.
Vivian: You--you just met her?
Melanie: Oh, no, no. No, I've--I've met her, and I just can't wait to keep working with her.
Lexie: Carly, how's it going?
Carly: You know, it's like riding a bike. I'd forgotten how much I love being a doctor.
Lexie: Yeah. How's the patient in 427?
Carly: Oh, diagnosis-- late-night burritos.
Lexie: Huh, seems to be a lot of that going around lately.
Carly: You know what, I'm gonna check on her and sign her out.
Lexie: Okay. Hmm. Burritos. Sounds good.
Carly: Okay, Mrs. Parker, how you feeling? A little better? [Screams]
Rafe: Yeah. Little Sydney. [Raps table] Oh, God. What the hell is happening to me?
Rafe: It's starting to dawn on you, isn't it? You can't fight it. You can't.
Stefano: I guess not.
Rafe: All right, good. So let's get down to business, huh? You love your children?
Rafe: You'd do anything for them?
Rafe: You hate Samantha Brady?
Stefano: Oh, yes, indeed.
Rafe: Do you enjoy hurting her?
Stefano: Oh, yes.
Rafe: Do you love your wife?
Rafe: Did you take Sydney?
Rafe: It's a simple question. Did you take Sydney?
Stefano: No. No, I-I did not. No, I did not do it. No.
Lexie: So where's Mrs. Parker?
Maxine: She was dismissed. I have her paperwork right here.
Lexie: And how did our friend here get in her bed? I mean, clearly she had some help.
Maxine: I don't know.
Lexie: Maxine, we can't have mistakes like this.
Carly: Lexie. It wasn't a mistake.
Vivian: The flowers are for you.
Bo: I can't do this.
[Unlocks and opens door]
Nicole: Damn you, Stefano. Damn you.
Stefano: I did not take Sydney.
Stefano: I would not do that to Elvis. You see everything that I did was to keep that child in the family... with her father. Elvis is my son. I would do anything for him. [Sighs]
Rafe: That's the truth?
Stefano: That's the truth.
Rafe: The whole truth? All right, listen up, I'm gonna be a little more specific here, okay? Is there a woman who was working for you? Did you tell this woman to take your granddaughter?
Stefano: No, I did not-- I don't even know who the hell you are talking about.
Rafe: He's telling the truth.
Anna: Out came the sun and dried up all the rain and the itsy-bitsy spider went up the spout again
Anna: [Laughs] Uh-oh.
Bo: I think it's over between the two of us.
EJ: I think you know more than you're letting on.
Sami: We are running out of time!
