Carly: Hope, I-I-I didn't expect to--
Bo: Oh, what is it?
Carly: I'm gonna go and--
Hope: No, no, no. I don't want you to go. Hang on. You should hear what we're talking about, so come on in.
Woman: Medium fat-free decaf mocha latte.
Vivian: Oh, good. That's for me.
Kate: Excuse me. That's mine.
Vivian: No, it's not!
Kate: Yes, it is.
Sami: Okay, well, if Nicole didn't take Sydney, then who--
EJ: I know. It was you... wasn't it? You took our daughter?
Rafael: Is it true?
Sami: Did you take Sydney?
EJ: So where is she? Answer me. Where is our daughter?
Nicole: [Sighs] Sydney... be safe, honey. Oh, God, please be safe.
EJ: If you did this, if you stole our child, you make no mistake, you are gonna pay.
Rafael: How about it, Mr. DiMera? Is there any truth to what your son is saying here?
Sami: Do you know where Sydney is?
Stefano: Yes, I have an idea.
Maggie: Hey there, Mia.
Maggie: Finish your shift?
Mia: Yeah, but I have to go back and fill in for Karen because she's sick and she's covered for me, like, a hundred times. I actually, um-- I just came to-- oh, I just came to grab my purse.
Maggie: Now wait a minute. You know, you can't live on espresso and cupcakes and java. I'm making myself a sandwich. Would you like me to make you one?
Mia: Sure. Thanks.
Maggie: Ham and Swiss? Um, I have chicken in the fridge.
Mia: No. No chicken. Uh, when I was pregnant, it was pretty much all I could eat. I got really sick of it.
Maggie: Mm, I understand. Are you okay?
Mia: I-- I still think about her sometimes, you know? Like how happy she was and her eyes. I never knew Grace was mine. I miss so much and now she's gone and that's all I've got.
Mia: Yeah. Sorry.
Maggie: You don't need to apologize. You know, Mia, I've been thinking. Something you said about your mom.
Mia: [Scoffs] Couldn't have been anything good.
Maggie: Well, Mia, you know, your mom's your mom. Now this is just a thought, okay? I mean, after everything you've been through this last year, maybe-- I don't know. You think that you could at least try talking to her? Maybe things are a little different?
Mia: Why would I do that?
Maggie: Because... family is the most important thing in anyone's life.
Bo: Is there something you need?
Carly: No, no. I was just driving past and I want to give you a heads-up. That thing about me moving in with Maggie, it's a no-go.
Bo: What happened?
Hope: W-w-w-w-- wait a minute. You were gonna move into my Aunt Maggie and Uncle Mickey's house?
Carly: Yeah, but it didn't work out.
Hope: Why? Why?
Carly: Why what?
Hope: Well, first, my husband and now you're trying to cozy up to my family?
Carly: Okay, you know what? Believe it or not, not everything I do is connected to you.
[Knock on door]
Bo: Oh, great.
Victor: Well, it looks like I interrupted just in time.
Vivian: Didn't know having a cup of coffee was such a competition.
Kate: [Scoffs] God.
Vivian: I think we'll need another one of those.
Woman: It's in the works. Sorry about the mix-up.
Vivian: Mm. Well, you enjoying that? Is it warming your heart? Sorry. Forgot who I was talking to.
Kate: My God. You know, I guess I thought with advancing age came a certain softening, but obviously some people never change.
Vivian: Make no mistake, Kate, I'm not soft.
Kate: You're not Philip's long lost mother either.
Vivian: Excuse me?
Kate: "Oh, my god. It's him. My son. Philip, my baby." Did you really think you were going to form some twisted maternal bond with him? Because you have never been anything more than a gestation device and he knows it.
Vivian: And just exactly who are you, Kate? The mother he wants to die and go to hell? You did marry the man who tried to have him murdered.
Kate: Oh, my god. Wait. Wait. Where's Victor?
Vivian: [Laughs] Why would you ask that?
Kate: Well, I never see you unless you're hanging on his arm. I guess Victor must be on your must-have-for-Christmas list?
Vivian: And why exactly would you care about that? After all, you know Stefano owns your soul... as well as what's left of your body.
Kate: Oh. Now I get it. You think I'm out of the picture and Victor is ripe for the plucking.
Sami: Where is Sydney?
Stefano: Excuse me! Do I get to speak here? I did not harm Sydney. Why would I? She is my own flesh and blood. I cherished the day that she was brought into my life. She was just--
Rafael: Where is she?
Stefano: [Sighs] Wherever Nicole has hidden her. If you stop and think... the only person that could possibly know where the baby is is Nicole.
Nicole: [Sighs] Sydney. Hang on, baby. I hear you crying. Mommy's coming. Mommy's coming.
Vivian: Whether I enjoy Victor's company or not is really my business, isn't it?
Kate: If you're cozying up to Victor because you can be closer to Philip, then it's my business.
Vivian: Well, if that's what you think, anything's possible. Of course, not for you, because you'll never get close to either of them again.
Kate: Vivian? Go to hell.
Vivian: Oh, well.
Victor: God's sake, Bo. Get this intruder out of here. It's Christmas time.
Bo: Victor, you do not walk into my house and start insulting someone just because you've got a pro--
Ciara: Grandpa Victor!
Victor: Ahh, there's my little sweet pea. [Grunts] Oh, boy. Oh, what a big hug. You've just made Grandpa's day.
Ciara: Are you here to help us trim the Christmas tree?
Hope: Oh, sweetie, the tree's not here yet.
Bo: But I tell you what. It's supposed to come this afternoon. If it gets here in time, we'll trim it tonight. What do you say?
Victor: I've got an early Christmas present for you. Why don't we go home so you can open it?
Ciara: Okay. Come on, Mommy.
Hope: Actually, um, sweetie, Mommy needs to stay here and talk to daddy and this woman. But why don't you go with Grandpa Victor and I'll be there soon?
Victor: Come on, sweetheart, let's go.
Bo: Here, get your coat on. Whoop. There we go. Hey. I love you.
Carly: Okay, look, I'm sorry. I never should have come by.
Hope: But you did. So the damage is done. There is something you can do to make things right.
Hope: You can tell me why you wanted to live at my Aunt Maggie's house and why it didn't work out for you. Oh, I'm sorry. Just one more secret you don't want to share.
Maggie: I know you're hurt about all that's happened, honey--all that sadness. But please don't let it change you, okay? You're a very sweet and loving girl. And you are gonna be happy again someday. Maybe sooner than you think.
Mia: I don't know what I'd do if it weren't for you always telling me things will be okay.
Maggie: They will be, Mia. That's a guarantee. Okay.
Mia: You know... you're the only person I know who will tell me the truth. Other people, they just-- they lie. You know, they say that they care, but really they're just looking out for number one. Nicole sure taught me that. [Chuckles]
Nicole: Oh, Sydney. Mommy's here. Mommy's coming. I have to find her.
EJ: That's your big revelation? Oh, Nicole knows where Sydney is. Well, there we go.
Stefano: It's obvious, isn't it?
EJ: No, it's not obvious at all, father. I think the only thing that is obvious here is that you lie.
Sami: Look--look. Brady went in and talked to Nicole. She would have been honest with him and she doesn't know anything.
Stefano: Ahh, mm-hmm. The ever loyal Brady Black. He is in love with Nicole. He always has been and now he's got all of you believing her lies.
Sami: Oh, my God. You're being ridiculous. Nicole was hit on the back of the head. Brady was with us when it happened, okay? He didn't have anything to do with it. What if she really doesn't know what happened to Sydney?
Stefano: Why would you believe anyone who lied about everything, hmm? About her pregnancy? About the baby switch? Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera!
EJ: Lies that you knew about. Lies that you helped keep a secret. Now, how do we know he's not helping her now, huh? How do we know you're not in this together?
Stefano: Oh, for God's sake.
[Cell phone rings]
EJ: No, come on. It wouldn't be the worst thing you've done, Father.
Rafael: It's my guy at the bureau. I got to take this.
Sami: All right. Yeah, yeah.
Rafael: I'll be right back.
Sami: Yeah, all right. She's not the only one who lied. I mean, frankly, she wouldn't have gotten away with taking Sydney if it hadn't been for my lies in the first place.
EJ: How do we know that you haven't been in this every single step of the way?
Sami: There is enough guilt to go around here. All of us have been lying. And I get it. You hate me and you want to keep me away from your granddaughter, but we're talking about Sydney's safety here. I've already lost a daughter. I am not gonna lose Sydney. So if you have any information that can help us, just tell us the truth.
Carly: Well, first of all, not everything is a secret.
Hope: Great. Then tell me.
Carly: I can't live here. Maggie had a room for rent and she's been very nice to me.
Hope: Because she is a very nice person. But there's no way she'd be involved in all this drama if she knew the truth.
Carly: What drama? The fact that I need a place to stay?
Hope: That you won't tell anyone but Bo what you're really doing back here in Salem.
Bo: Can we not get into that again?
Carly: It's a moot issue. Okay, I'm not staying here. I'm not staying at Maggie's. I'm gonna check myself into the Salem Inn and you two can go back to whatever you were doing before I rang the bell, okay?
Hope: Well, we were talking about you, remember? Don't you want to hear the rest of what I have to say?
Vivian: Well, if she's not living there, she's probably staying at a hotel. Stay on it and get back to me. Ahh.
Gus: Just as you thought, Madame. Mr. Lawrence did have a secret bank account in Switzerland. Basel, to be exact.
Vivian: No problems, I presume?
Gus: No, Madame. Since you're the executrix of his estate and I had your letter confirming my power of attorney, they gave me the contents of the box with no questions.
Vivian: And...nothing else besides the letter?
Gus: Some personal items. Nothing important.
Vivian: Well, well, well. There's someone else that needs to read this right now.
Nicole: [Sighs] I've got to find Sydney. I've got to find my baby. [Grunts]
Stefano: Samantha... I have seen your fake tears and playact for sympathy so many times that, uh, I hate to even remember it. But this time... my heart goes out to you. Unfortunately, I do not know where Sydney is.
EJ: Yes, you do... because you took her. One of your men knocked Nicole unconscious and then you took our daughter.
Stefano: Elvis, why would I do something so stupid and cruel? Take my own granddaughter and lie about it?
EJ: You know exactly why, okay? Because you don't get to see your granddaughter anymore, because you're cut off. You helped Nicole. That is your punishment.
Stefano: I didn't think that you really meant that. Believe me, I have no idea where Sydney is, but... [Sighs] I have an idea how we could find her.
Rafael: Okay. Just do me a favor. Check out the database and get back to me. All right, thanks. Hey, man.
Rafael: When did you get into town?
Roman: Oh, I landed a couple hours ago. Any news?
Rafael: Well, I was just talking to a buddy of mine over at the bureau. I guess none of the witnesses at the bus station saw anyone follow Nicole. So looks like it might be a professional job.
Roman: Maybe not. I just got a briefing from the Cleveland P.D. They might be on to who took Sydney.
Bo: Okay, that's it. This conversation is over. Look, Carly's trying to move on with her life. Can't we try to do the same thing?
Hope: Just how do we do that, Bo? If you and Carly know something that's obviously very important, then what, I can't be trusted with the same information? A lack of trust has been a major issue for us.
Bo: [Sighs] We just keep talking in circles. Going over and over the same thing.
Carly: Hope, if it'll help, I doubt that Bo and I will have contact anymore, okay?
Hope: No? Oh, really? And yet, you... come here to tell him where you'd be staying from now on. Which could have been easily accomplished with a simple phone call, but you chose not to do that. You chose to come here, in person, to my house. Why is that?
Bo: If this is your house, why did you leave it?
Carly: I don't belong in this conversation. I'm going.
Hope: Never mind. No. No, don't go. I should be the one going.
EJ: So you don't know where Sydney is, yet you know how to find her? Samantha, this sounds like another lie to me.
Sami: EJ, we should probably hear him out.
EJ: Well, if he knew something, why didn't he say something in the first place?
Stefano: Because you have been accusing me of something I did not do.
Sami: EJ, come on. We need all the help we can get, right? Look, Stefano, if you have an idea of how to find Sydney, I want to hear it.
Stefano: All right, I'll be blunt. The moment Sydney went missing, I had some of my best people tracking her whereabouts. And he did exactly the same thing, no matter what he denies.
Sami: Did you?
EJ: Sure. I mean, Nicole left the jurisdiction of the Salem police department. What was I supposed to do, wait for the FBI? Father, I have no idea how this has anything to do with your knowing where Sydney is.
Stefano: Simple. We combine our resources. My people will join with your people and this way we will have twice the chance of finding your little girl. Well? What do you say?
Roman: Nicole's mother is named Fay. Now they didn't always have the greatest relationship in the world, but apparently this time Nicole needed help and Mom came through. The Cleveland P.D. found Nicole's motel, talked to the manager. He said that Fay visited Nicole several times.
Rafael: So you think Fay's the one that took Sydney?
Roman: It is a possibility, yeah.
Roman: You're not buying this?
Rafael: I don't know. You think Nicole's mom would smash her skull and leave her unconscious?
Roman: Now, you see... that is exactly why the FBI had mush for brains when they asked you to resign. I have known Faye a long time, and she wasn't always the greatest mother in the world, but she always has been a pretty damn good woman. So, no, she never would have done that.
Rafael: Well, she's still a person of interest.
Roman: Oh, yeah, definitely.
Rafael: Well, the attack on Nicole and Sydney's disappearance could be two separate, unrelated crimes.
Roman: Could be. And Faye would keep Sydney if she thought it was in Nicole's best interests, because she's always felt a lot of guilt about-- about the way Nicole suffered growing up.
Rafael: Right. My God. She's trying to make up for a lousy childhood by helping out Nicole. I assume the police have checked out her house.
Roman: Oh, yeah, yeah. Nothing yet, but they do have it staked out.
Rafael: Yeah, well, she wouldn't take Sydney back there. Too dangerous. Oh, my God. That baby could be anywhere by now.
Nicole: [Sighs] Ow. [Grunts] God.
Hope: It was clearly a mistake to come here... or to ever think that we could rebuild our family.
Carly: Okay, this has to end. We have to tell Hope about my daughter.
Maggie: Mia, I know you're terribly hurt, but please don't let it make you bitter and cynical.
Mia: Too late. It already has. That's what happens when your baby dies.
Maggie: Mia, wait.
Mia: I have to get back to work. But thank you for trying to help me.
Sami: Well, EJ, what do you think? Do you think it's a good idea for your men and his men to work together? That way, maybe there's a better chance of finding her?
EJ: Do you want to know how this will go? I'll tell you. Samantha, Father's people are like his personal spies. They who would make sure that we would never find our daughter. And if--if-- if my people discovered any evidence that linked him to Sydney's disappearance, they would make sure that they completely disappeared.
Stefano: That's insane. Samantha, talk to him. The man is out of his mind.
Sami: I think EJ makes a lot of sense.
Stefano: What? Oh, for God's sake.
Sami: I don't think EJ would be suspicious of you unless he had a good reason. You are gonna burn in hell for this, Stefano. How could you do this to your own granddaughter?
Stefano: Fine. Fine. You two want to act like idiots? Go ahead, act like idiots. Oh, boy. But just remember something. I have had experience with this kind of thing, and without my help, you are never going to find that child.
EJ: It's okay.
Nicole: [Gasps] Oh. [Grunts] No. No.
Hope: Mia, how are things going at Maggie's place, huh? I'm sure it's a lot quieter now that Nathan's no longer there, huh?
Mia: Um, yeah, I guess. I mean, we all keep different hours, so...
Hope: I know Maggie loves having you and Melanie living there.
Mia: Yeah, Maggie's the best. She really is.
Hope: Yeah, she is. You know, I happen to know that she thinks the world of you. So just you girls living there, huh, right? No one else?
Maggie: Um, actually, this woman came in today and she was going to move in but she decided not to. Her name was Carly something.
Hope: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, Carly Manning, right? Yeah, I heard she was looking for a place. Why didn't she move in?
Carly: I mean it, Bo. Things can't go on like this.
Bo: Hey, if it were just about that secret, I'd say, "Yeah, let's tell Hope." It sure as hell would make things easier around here, but apparently our problems are much deeper than that.
Carly: I'm sure that if we ask Hope not to say anything, she won't.
Bo: Things have a way of getting out. Hope didn't really want to tell victor that you were staying here, but a couple hours after she found out, he was on to it and you know what happened after that. We have to assume that Vivian is back in Salem because of that little incident with her nephew and that she arranged to have someone confess to that murder and she's here in Salem because she's got her sights set on you.
Carly: And if she knows I have a daughter, she knows that's how she can hurt me the most, and that's exactly where she's gonna strike.
Bo: There you go. So until Vivian is out of Salem for good or we find out that she is not a threat, your secret has got to remain a secret.
Carly: All right, all right, all right. I know, you're right. All right, anyway, I'm gonna head over to the Inn and I didn't even call. I don't even know if they have a vacancy.
Bo: Can you afford that place?
Carly: Well, it won't be for long and then I'll get an apartment and a job hopefully.
Bo: Yeah, I'm sure you will, but this hotel thing, it's not a good idea.
Bo: Look, Vivian's after you. We both know th-- it'd be easiest for me to protect you if you continue to stay here.
Victor: Grandpa will be right down here if you need anything. How'd you get in here?
Vivian: Henderson let me in. I'd love a drink.
Victor: Vodka on the rocks?
Vivian: Oh, you remembered. I was so happy to hear you indoctrinating your granddaughter against that woman, the evil Carly Manning.
Victor: Enjoyed that, did you?
Vivian: Oh, well, I think it's very irresponsible of your son Bo to expose her to a woman like that. A heartless, murderous--
Victor: Murderous? Whom did she murder?
Victor: It wasn't your nephew Lawrence. We know someone else confessed to that.
Vivian: Carly put the knife in him, have no doubt about that.
Victor: Ahh. So even though she's been exonerated of the crime, you're still convinced that Carly's guilty?
Vivian: Victor, don't insult my intelligence.
Victor: Wouldn't dream of doing that, Vivian. I'm just a little confused.
Vivian: And don't play games with me either.
Victor: You didn't come to Salem to see me. You didn't come to bond with Philip. You came here to see to it that Carly gets exactly what she deserves. You can tell me, Vivian. After all, I'm on your side.
Vivian: Not a day goes by that I don't think about Lawrence. I miss him terribly. But enough of all that. It's time for revenge.
Roman: All right. Okay. We're gonna find a way to get her back. Just stay strong.
Sami: I'm just glad you're here, Dad.
Roman: Yeah, I thought it would be better if I coordinated with the Cleveland P.D. One on one.
Sami: Absolutely. So is there any news?
Roman: They have a few things that could pan out, yeah. But first, Stefano, they need your statement.
Stefano: Oh, they do, do they? Well, you tell them that I've been accused enough today, so if they want to talk, they can talk to my attorney. No one is gonna turn me into the villain here. I just want my granddaughter back.
Rafael: Ahem. I just need to ask Nicole DiMera a few more questions.
Man: She's not allowed visitors anymore. It's doctor's orders.
Rafael: Ah, doctor's orders. Huh. Well, hey, man, I know all about following orders. Yeah. I used to, uh-- I used to be with the FBI. But, you see, the problem is with following orders--it doesn't get your case solved. You know there's a little baby girl missing, right?
Man: Uh, right.
Rafael: Right. And the longer she's missing, the worse her chances are. And, uh, well, I'm having a real problem with some of the answers that I got from the woman in there. Now you don't want to be the one responsible for anything happening to that baby, now, do you?
Nicole: [Grunts] Oh, come on. Come on.
Carly: Uh, I can't stay here, okay? I'm gonna go to the Salem Inn.
Bo: What happened at Maggie's?
Carly: Things didn't work out.
Bo: Someone vetoed it? Not Maggie?
Bo: Your daughter?
Carly: Look, you were right. I shouldn't have tried to rush things and--
Bo: You wanted to be near her.
Carly: Yeah, well, the only problem is that now I think she hates me.
Mia: Okay, there you go.
Hope: Oh, thank you, sweetie. Here, this is for you and the rest you keep.
Mia: Thank you.
Hope: So, uh, Carly Manning. She just backed out of living at aunt Maggie's, huh? Then just decided to stay somewhere else?
Mia: She's going to a hotel, I think.
Mia: How do you know her?
Hope: She used to live in Salem years ago.
Mia: So that's why she knows Maggie so well.
Hope: Exactly. That and-- what did you think of her?
Hope: Yeah. I'm just kind of curious. I'm sorry, if you'd rather not say anything--
Mia: No, it's okay. I just-- well, I feel kind of bad. It's not nice to talk about people you don't really know.
Hope: True. Although sometimes first impressions turn out to be pretty accurate.
Mia: Yeah. Well, then my first impression was I couldn't really trust her and I should stay away from her. But I should get back to work.
Hope: Yeah. You take care. It's good to see you, honey. Hmm, smart girl.
Vivian: I just think that extraditing Carly, throwing her in prison, and then executing her is not quite the right punishment for her.
Victor: I see. Not enough torment.
Victor: So your plan is to make Carly suffer through a long and painful revenge.
Vivian: Yes, but I can't do it alone. Would you like to help me?
Victor: Do you really have to ask?
Stefano: They found Nicole unconscious at the Cleveland bus station. They brought her here to the hospital. Unfortunately... Sydney is still missing.
Kate: Dear God. What did she say?
Stefano: [Sighs] Well, she claims she does not know what happened.
Kate: But you don't believe her?
Stefano: [Chuckles] I don't know what to believe anymore.
Kate: [Sighs] I just am very concerned about this. I don't want you getting all worked up again.
Stefano: What kind of nonsense is that? "All worked up"? For God's sake, Katherine, this is my worst nightmare and you want me to be cool and collected?
Kate: I just meant that I--
Stefano: Do you have any idea what has happened here, huh? Elvis, Nicole, and Samantha are trying to keep Sydney away from me and, damn it, they are going to pay for it.
Kate: "Pay" how?
Stefano: Look, you don't worry about that. The important thing is my granddaughter is going to be found.
Roman: Okay, I have another meeting with Commander Hogan for an update. I will call you if there's anything new.
Sami: Thanks, Dad. Tough day, huh?
EJ: Yeah, no kidding.
Sami: It's just hard to know what to believe, you know? Is-- is Nicole lying still and she has Sydney or-- or is Stefano behind all of this?
EJ: Yeah, it's a difficult call. You all right?
Sami: I just keep thinking about... everyone saying that the more time that goes by... the harder it's gonna... be to find her.
EJ: Hey, Samantha. Trust me on this, okay? We're going to find our daughter, all right? Don't doubt that. Okay?
Man: Go ahead. I didn't see a thing.
Rafael: That was a good choice. Nicole? Nicole! Damn it.
Hope: My gut reaction might have been right. She came back to take my husband.
Victor: The sooner we get Carly out of the picture, the better.
Brady: What in the hell are you doing here?
