Justin: So this friend of yours who needs a lawyer, what's he charged with?
Justin: Okay, she. Who is it?
Bo: Carly Manning.
Justin: [Chuckles] Carly. [Sighs] That's right-- Lawrence's murder.
Bo: Yeah. She's in a hell of a lot of trouble. People are after her. Lawrence's people, they're out for revenge. She needs your help. You're the only person she can turn to.
Gus: I have news, Madame.
Vivian: If this isn't about Carly Manning, Gus, I'm going to have to strangle you for waking me up.
Gus: It is about Dr. Manning.
Vivian: Have they found her?
Gus: Our men have advised me they may have located her position, yes.
Vivian: May have?
Gus: We're still waiting on specifics, but I should have them for you shortly.
Vivian: Shortly? What the hell is shortly? Is that next week, next month, next year?
Vivian: You light a fire under those idiots. I need specifics now. Time is of the essence.
Gus: Of course, Madame. I will try to get answers.
Vivian: Don't try. Just do it. You can run, Carly Manning Alamain, but you can't hide... not from me.
Arianna: Brady, I don't know where this is coming from.
Brady: Yeah, you do.
Arianna: No, really, I don't.
Brady: Stop lying to me! Stop it. Look me in the eye right now, and you tell me the truth for once, Arianna. You are a drug dealer, aren't you? Just admit it. Admit it.
Arianna: [Sighs] Okay. I deal drugs... yes.
Sami: Rafe, wh-- what are you doing here? I-I never thought I was gonna see you again.
Sami: Where have you been?
Rafe: A lot of different places.
Sami: That's not an answer.
Rafe: Right. Um, you're right. It would take a long time to explain, so...
Sami: Really? 'Cause I have all the time in the world. Just tell me... please.
Rafe: I can't, Sami. Just--just be patient with me. Can you do that? Please, can you do that for me? Please?
Sami: Are you back?
Rafe: Yeah. I am.
Sami: For good?
Rafe: For good.
Sami: And what about... what about us? I mean, you can't just show up here and... I'm serious, Rafe. You can't just come in here and expect me—
Arianna: I can explain.
Brady: Don't. You don't--you don't have to bother explaining.
Arianna: No, you will not walk away from me until you hear what I have to say!
Justin: So these people, Lawrence's associates, what's the situation? Have they put a contract out?
Bo: I'll have to let Carly explain that to you. Bottom line, she needs a lawyer who's experienced in extradition treaties, international law.
Justin: So she did kill Lawrence? Motivation?
Bo: That's complicated. She was forced to take matters into her own hands.
Justin: Ahh. What the hell does that mean?
Bo: It means she's in one hell of a lot of trouble. That's all I can tell you. Like I said, she'll have to give you the rest of the details.
Justin: [Sighs deeply] Does Victor know she's in town?
Bo: No, he doesn't. Nobody does. And no one can know she's here, especially not Hope.
Carly: Bo. [Gasps] Oh, my god. What are you doing here?
Hope: What am I doing here? This is my house.
Carly: Well, I know that.
Hope: What are you doing here in my bed? Who the hell are you?
Arianna: I know how upset you are. Look, the last thing that I wanted to do was hurt you.
Brady: All--all those times we talked about my recovery... you must have been going crazy inside, huh? Maybe you thought you could get me hooked again or something.
Brady: I can't believe I was stupid enough to trust you.
Arianna: You weren't stupid... okay? You trusted me, because you were falling in love with me the same way that I was falling in love with you.
Brady: [Laughing] I'm a recovering addict, Ari. How could I love somebody like you?
Sami: Okay, seriously. We have to talk about this, because we...
Rafe: No, no, no, no.
Rafe: I got to go.
Justin: Thank you. So... [Chuckles] You're not gonna tell Hope that Carly's back in your life?
Bo: She's not back in my life. I'm trying to keep her from getting killed. And, no, I'm not gonna tell hope. I don't want her involved in this. It's too damn dangerous.
Justin: Where is she? Where is Carly?
Bo: She's at my place.
Justin: [Scoffs] What?
Bo: Yeah, I'm not too thrilled about it either, but that's the way it is. She showed up at my place. She had no place else to go.
Justin: So you decided you had to help her.
Bo: Yeah, I did. What she did she was driven to. You know Carly. She's a good person. How the hell could I turn her away?
Justin: You couldn't. I understand.
Bo: Okay. So you'll talk to her? You'll help her out?
Carly: I'm Carly... Carly Manning.
Carly: What this might seem like, it's--it's not...
Hope: Oh, no. You have no idea.
Carly: I came here because I need help... desperately. And--and Bo was the only person that I could turn to.
Hope: Really? And what did my husband do to earn that distinction? I mean, surely you have other people you could have gone to.
Carly: No, actually, I don't. I don't have anyone, uh... I don't have any--no one that could help me. Rea--there really was no one else, and I can't say much more than that.
Hope: Why all the secrecy? Why didn't Bo tell me that you were here?
Carly: Me--I asked him not to say anything. I insisted he not tell anybody.
Hope: I'm guessing this has something to do with Lawrence Alamain's murder?
Carly: Yes. I killed him. And now his men want my head, and finding Bo was really my only option. I beg you to understand.
Hope: You beg me to understand? You have men after you that want you dead, and you come here to my house? What about my family? Did it ever occur to you to consider them? What about our safety?
Carly: I thought you were-- Bo said that you were living somewhere else.
Hope: This is still my house, my daughter's house.
Carly: Of course it is. Of course it is. I just--I thought you were staying... look, Bo would never have let me stay here if you--
Hope: I get it. Stop. I get it. [Scoffs] I get it. I moved out, you moved in... into my house, into my bed.
Carly: No, Hope.
Hope: I could have you arrested right now if I wanted to.
Carly: Oh, please, don't. Please--please. At least hear me out first.
Sami: Wh--you have to go? You just got here.
Rafe: Well, I didn't say that I wasn't coming back.
Sami: Well, where are you going? What's so important that--
Rafe: It is important. It's something I have to do. That's all I can tell you.
Sami: More secrets--awesome. Picking up right where we left off, huh?
Rafe: Sami, I can't tell you. Please.
Sami: It's really working for you, by the way, the whole secrets thing. You look like hell.
Rafe: Thank you. That's very nice of you.
Sami: Well, if you told me what was going on, maybe I could be more sympathetic.
Rafe: Well, I can't, okay? I can't. Would it make you feel better if I told you that everything that I'm doing, I am doing for you? A little?
Sami: Yeah. But if it's about me, then you should tell me what it is. I can handle it, Rafe. I can. You just tell me what's going on, and I can take it.
Bo: I know this won't be a walk in the park for you. Lawrence's country, it's not exactly democratic.
Justin: [Laughs] Democratic? The place is a hotbed for corruption. I'm not even sure extradition rules even apply there.
Bo: Yeah, well, whatever the case, she does need an attorney. She needs a friend. She doesn't deserve to live like this, Justin. She's being hunted like an animal.
Justin: I know. You've made that very clear.
Bo: So what do you say?
Justin: Well, I'm not sure what I can possibly do, but... I can certainly try.
Bo: Good. Thanks. Let's go.
Carly: Lawrence and I and our son, we--we... we were good, you know? We were--we were normal, relatively normal, you know? And--and we did normal things. We took Nicky to school, and we--we, uh, went to ball games, and we had--took him to music lessons, and he was everything. He was our focus, our joy, and then he grew up. But they--they do that, don't they?
Hope: If you're lucky.
Hope: So your son grew up and left for college?
Carly: Earlier, Lawrence got very sick. He almost died. He, um--he recovered, obviously, but he wasn't the same person. The father of my child was--was unrecognizable to me. He was, um, paranoid and abusive and dangerous.
Hope: So you killed him.
Carly: It was him or me.
Hope: Let's cut to the chase. The bottom line is you murdered your husband, went on the lam, and ended up here... in my house. And what? It never occurred to you that Salem would be the first place Lawrence's people would look?
Carly: I had to come back. I had to come back here, okay? And I trust Bo. If anyone can help me with this, it's him. But he's not gonna be able to do that if you turn me in.
Arianna: That's right. I mean, how could you, right? 'Cause what? I'm--I'm a-a lowlife. I'm the scum of the earth. I'm not worthy of you.
Brady: Are you playing the victim now? Is that what you're doing? Are you starting to feel sorry for yourself?
Arianna: I'm actually just letting you know that I-I get it.
Brady: I'm glad you get it. I'm glad you get it. Good for you. I'm glad you understand, Ari.
Arianna: You know, this isn't all my fault, okay?
Brady: Is it my fault? Is that whose fault it is that you're a drug dealer? Did your mother not pay enough attention to you as a child? Something happened, Ari.
Arianna: You know, I tried to break it off with you, okay? I did. And I knew that I had to. It killed me to do it. But I knew if you found this out--I-I didn't want to break your heart too.
Brady: You know the problem with that, though, is when you came back to me, right here in this room, and we made love right there that night-- I remember it--I gave you every opportunity to come clean with me, and you didn't do it.
Arianna: Would it have made it any easier if I had told you then?
Brady: No. No, probably not... not unless you were gonna tell me that you were gonna quit... or at least explain to me why the hell you were doing it in the first place, Ari.
Arianna: Okay, I would have, all right? I would have explained, but you were yelling at me. You said that you didn't want anything to do with me.
Brady: Okay, I'm not yelling right now. Here's your chance, 'cause I'm gonna be very quiet.
Arianna: Okay, I can tell you the truth. I will tell you everything that you want to know.
Rafe: Sami, I will tell you everything... just not right now.
Sami: Oh, Rafe, come on. If it has to do with me, then I need to know what it is. If we're gonna make this work, if we're gonna be together, I need to know where you're going right now.
Rafe: I'm looking for answers.
Sami: What, literally? What answers?
Rafe: Come on. I'm here, aren't I? I'm here right now. Doesn't that count for something? Please... will you trust me? Please?
Sami: Of course I trust you.
Sami: But, Rafe, you were gone a long time, and... I was worried. And now I'm just scared. You walk out that door, and... I'm--I'm afraid I'm gonna lose you all over again.
Rafe: You won't... okay? I promise. Promise.
Hope: So? That's your side of the story.
Carly: It's the only story.
Hope: I don't know what my husband promised you, and, quite frankly, I don't want to know. But now that I'm involved, all bets are off. I want you out of here... now. I want you out.
Vivian: What have you got for me, Gus?
Gus: Our men confirmed the sighting.
Vivian: Finally. Well, tell me, Gus. Where is that murdering guttersnipe?
Vivian: [Laughs] Of course. Carly is nothing if not predictable. [Laughs]
Carly: Look, Hope--
Hope: I'm not changing my mind about this.
Carly: Look, I just--I get your concerns. I understand. I just wish you would try and--
Hope: Bo... finally met our elusive houseguest. You failed to mention that you were once engaged to this woman.
Sami: [Breathes heavily]
Arianna: The truth is, I deal drugs... because I have to. Unlike you, I've had to struggle, you know? I didn't have the same opportunities and--and privileges that you've had.
Brady: Instead of making something of yourself, you decided... "Hey, I'll just push poison"?
Arianna: You don't know what it's like.
Brady: Right. I don't know what it's like. I couldn't possibly understand, not from my gilded tower that I live on, right?
Arianna: Just--just know-- please understand that I...
Arianna: Have never dealt drugs to children or to teenagers.
Brady: What a relief. I guess that makes everything better, now, doesn't it?
Arianna: It makes it easier for me to sleep at night.
Brady: You're gonna be sleeping alone tonight and many, many nights after that, at least until you find someone else that you can lie to, Arianna.
Arianna: No, Brady, don't do this.
Brady: Arianna, we are done! Good-bye.
Arianna: No, no, wait. Just--just give me a s-- Brady, wait.
Bo: Carly, why don't you fill in Justin. Hope and I are gonna talk outside. Hope, listen.
Hope: How could you do it? How could you bring this fugitive into our house.
Bo: Fugitive? This is Carly.
Hope: How does that make it better? She killed a man.
Bo: Yeah, because he was gonna kill her.
Hope: No, no, no, no, I don't want to hear any excuses. She already filled me in on the whole story, and I get it. [Sighs] He was mentally ill. He tormented her. The whole thing was a nightmare. But the fact remains, she took a man's life. And for you to bring her into our house, to drag our family into this...
Bo: Hold on a second. Let's back up. Our house? As I recall, you moved our daughter out of here. Or am I missing something?
Hope: I moved out to give us some time, some space, to try to find our way back to each other. I never thought or realized that my taking a break meant... that this was no longer my home.
Bo: Taking a break? Okay. I'm sorry. I only thought that--
Hope: You only what? Can't imagine me coming back? Or don't want to imagine it? Well, I guess, um, maybe not... since you have someone else living here now.
Bo: The only reason I even considered Carly staying here for a couple of days... is you took our daughter and moved out.
Carly: You know me, Justin. I save lives. I don't take them. I-I never would have killed the father of my child if I hadn't been backed into a corner.
Justin: But if it really was self-defense...
Justin: Then why did you run?
Hope: Yes, I left. And I've ex... I have explained repeatedly why I felt I had to. I'm still your wife... and I would expect you to at least let me know before you allowed that woman into our home.
Bo: The same way you let me know that you were taking my daughter and going to Doug and Julie's, not having any contact with me for days... the same way you let me know that you were packing our daughter up and moving into a criminal's house. Full disclosure, honesty... it's not a one-way street.
Roman: Whoa, Brady, Brady. Wait. Where's the fire, man? Everything okay?
Brady: No, it's not. Uh, Roman, I think you need to know something about the woman that's running your family’s pub.
Hope: Ciara's therapist urged me to change her surroundings, and I respected that. I took her advice. I knew you'd be against it, and I couldn't deal with it.
Bo: And I knew you'd be against Carly coming here, and I couldn't deal with it. Can I use the same excuse?
Hope: No. No, you can't. I wasn't putting our family in danger.
Bo: Our family is not in danger. I explained that.
Hope: The fact that Carly's on the run because she murdered her husband, how does that not constitute danger? W-what is it, then? A little game of hide the criminal?
Bo: I wasn't gonna turn my back on her.
Hope: How do you think this looks? Police commissioner aiding a fugitive? Forget about your career. You could go to jail for this. [Sighs] Brady, after everything you've been through... covering for Philip, hiding evidence... I'd have thought you'd learn. There's something else going on here, isn't there?
Bo: What are you talking about? What else?
Hope: I know you, Brady. You wouldn't be protecting Carly like this unless there was a heck of a lot more to the story. Something bigger is going on, isn't there?
Carly: I think it's pretty obvious why I ran. I mean, my claims of self-defense aren't gonna matter to people who are trying to kill me, right? I did what I had to do to get out of there, to keep myself alive.
Hope: There's more. There's got to be. You expect us to keep our mouths shut... you're going to have to tell us everything.
Gus: Madame, I've just cleared your schedule, as you requested.
Vivian: Thank you, Gus.
Gus: And now... what further orders do you have for me? What's next on the agenda?
Carly: I have come clean, okay? Everything I've said has been the truth. There is no more.
[Cell phone ringing]
Hope: Excuse me. Hey, Victor. What's up?
Victor: Well, I was just wondering, uh, what time you're coming home. Ciara had a bad dream, and she's inconsolable, asking for mommy.
Hope: Thanks, I'll be right there. It's Ciara. I need to go.
Bo: Is she all right?
Hope: She had another nightmare. I need to go. You and Carly have 24 hours to figure out whatever's going on here and straighten it out. After that, it's my job to turn you in.
Sami: I'm just glad my roommate didn't show up.
Rafe: Your wha--your roommate?
Rafe: Who is your roommate?
Sami: Nicole. Can you imagine if she... [Laughs] Walked in here? I probably should have said something.
Rafe: Yeah, maybe. Maybe we should--yeah.
Sami: Yeah, I agree. All right. Where is my--okay. Oh.
Rafe: Sami, can I ask you something? There's something important that I need you to do for me.
Roman: All right. All right. What's going on here?
Brady: I'll let her tell you.
Roman: Sit down. Talk to me.
Arianna: He found out that I'm a dealer.
Arianna: So what are we supposed to do?
Roman: Well, a better question is, what do you think he'll do? Do you think he'll run with this, start digging around?
Arianna: I don't know.
Roman: Okay, well, whatever he does, there's one thing for sure. He can never find out you're undercover, Arianna.
Arianna: Okay. I know.
Roman: Your cover gets blown, you go back to prison.
Arianna: Don't count me out just yet.
Brady: How could I be so stupid?
Arianna: You're not stupid. Stupid is the last thing that you are. It doesn't have to be like this.
Brady: What are you saying?
Victor: How's the little one?
Victor: Now that her mommy's here, huh?
Hope: Guess she's just still overwhelmed with the new surroundings and everything.
Victor: Yeah, I'm sure that's what it is. Listen, when she was crying before and I was trying to console her, she, uh... said she wanted to go home. She missed her father.
Hope: Don't you think I know that?
Victor: I'm just telling you what she said. There's no need to get defensive.
Hope: You know, this is difficult for me too, Victor. I wouldn't be putting Ciara through all of this if I didn't think it was best for her.
Victor: How can it be best for her being separated from her father?
Hope: If I had stayed in the house with Bo, with all our unresolved problems, it would have been a very unhappy house. Ciara would have picked up on that tension.
Victor: Can I ask you... have you made any progress at all with Bo? Are you trying to work things out?
Hope: Actually, things are more complicated than ever.
Victor: Complicated? How? What's my son done now?
Carly: Justin, I have told you everything.
Justin: No. You told me what you want me to hear. Now, if you want me to defend you, I need to know the whole truth. And I assume that you told Bo the entire story. So you need to trust me as much as you do him. What really happened... between you and Lawrence, and how in the world did he provoke you into committing murder?
Brady: What do you propose we do? Pretend it didn't happen?
Arianna: I know I can't take back what I've done, but... maybe we could just talk about it.
Brady: We can talk about it? What are we gonna talk about? You're a drug dealer, Arianna, okay? Is there really anything that we can talk about that's gonna make that okay with me?
Arianna: Of course not.
Brady: Then why are you here? Why'd you follow me? There's nothing more to talk about. I am not gonna call the cops. I'm not gonna contact the cops or anything. I can't bring myself to do that. But I don't think you should be working at the pub anymore. I think Caroline deserves better, and I'm gonna give you one day to quit, all right?
Arianna: I understand.
Brady: And one more thing... I never want to see you again.
Hope: It's nothing you need to know.
Victor: Hope, you're married to my son. You're staying in my home. Ciara's my granddaughter. She's obviously deeply affected by your separation from her father. Now, I think I have a right to know what's going on. You were at your house earlier. Was Bo there? Did something happen?
Carly: I don't know what else you want from me.
Justin: I told you what I want.
Carly: No, no, you're badgering. Forget it, okay? I don't need your help. I've told you everything I can. It's not enough. So to hell with you. I'll find somebody else.
Justin: Carly, you have to understand. Unless I know every last detail of what happened between you and your late husband, I cannot represent you in a court of law. I am not the kind of man or attorney who can just wing it when someone's life is at stake. So unless you change your mind about this, I can't help you. But if you do, give me a call.
Carly: What am I gonna do?
Bo: I'm s--I'm sorry.
Carly: You understand that no one can know the extent of Lawrence's evil--no one, not hope, not Justin, because it's way too dangerous. It's not just my life that's at stake here. It's some--somebody else's.
Bo: Yeah, I know. Hey, hey. It's gonna be all right. It'll be all right. We'll figure a way out of this.
Vivian: How long have you been with me, Gus? And don't be flip.
Gus: Oh, I don't even know what flip is, Madame.
Vivian: Oh, yes, you do. You know more than you let on.
Gus: If you say so, Madame.
Vivian: I say so indeed. For instance, what would I prefer more? Meticulously putting together...
Gus: A foolproof plan?
Vivian: You haven't heard the alternative.
Gus: I'm sorry.
Vivian: Or the execution of a foolproof plan.
Gus: I would say the execution.
Vivian: And you would be wrong. It's in the anticipation. Like the song says, the anticipation of a plan working perfectly. Oh, I can just see it now. The forces set in motion that eventually come together and crush the bitch. Well, I'm just going to... stretch out and relax... and invite the muse of vengeance to put the pieces in place of my plan, and then anticipate the hell out of the end of Carly Manning.
Sami: Okay, so what do you need me to do, besides not interrogate you about where you're going?
Rafe: [Chuckles] Well, I'm sorry, but I have to fly under the radar for right now. Now, all I can tell you is that, um... I'm working on a case right now, an important case that... involves our future.
Sami: Our future?
Rafe: Our future... in a very big way. Now, what you need to promise me is you don't tell anyone that I'm back, okay? No one.
Sami: Okay. I promise, it'll be our secret.
Rafe: You can do that? God, how I've missed you.
Sami: I missed you so much. You know, I kept trying to tell myself I was--I was moving on... but I couldn't. I love you so much.
Rafe: I love you too... more than you know. I should leave.
Sami: And I'm not even gonna ask you where you're going. See? See how good I am?
Rafe: Very good. Really g--
[Knock at door]
Rafe: You expecting someone?
Sami: Oh, it's probably just Nicole and the baby.
Philip: We were meant to be together.
Brady: Obviously, you didn't go. You changed your mind.
Nicole: Actually, it was changed for me.
Sami: What do I have that Nicole wants, anyway?
