Victor: I'm sorry, Daniel. That call took longer than I thought.

Daniel: Yeah, no problem. Getting my things took forever anyway.

Victor: Yes, well, red tape is one of our society's greater accomplishments.

Daniel: Yeah, well, the main thing is I am out of here, thanks to you. And I can't tell you how much this means to me.

Victor: Well, you're more than welcome. I know you're innocent, and as your godfather, it's my job to help you.

Daniel: Yeah. You know, thanks, Marv. Thank you.

Marvin: Good luck, Doc.

Daniel: Look, we got interrupted before, but you still have to tell me everything you know about Kate's involvement. You think she's the one who poisoned Chloe, right... and set me up to take the fall?

Kate: Death can take such a very long time... but with any will be your day.

[Door clicks open]

Maggie: [Whispering] There you are. Have you heard about Chloe? It's good news.

Bo: If Chloe wakes up, she can clear the doc.

Hope: Or not.

Bo: He expects she will.

Hope: So he says.

Bo: You having doubts about his innocence?

Hope: No. I'm just playing devil's advocate. I'm with you--evidence or no evidence, the case doesn't square up.

Bo: No, it doesn't. You know what, we should interview the people who were working at the TV station that day. Maybe with time, you know, something's jogged their memory.

Hope: Yeah. Hey, wait a minute. Don't you have a meeting with the planning board? The role of public safety at our malls?

Bo: Yeah. I've asked Jenkins to cover that for me. I'm gonna work the Jonas case this afternoon.

D.A. Woods: [Laughs] Bobby, boy, you print that about me, I'm gonna have to sue you for conspiracy to print truth. Either that or buy you a steak at Rafferty's. Look, I gotta go. I'll talk you later. What the hell did you just say, commissioner? You wanna work the Daniel Jonas case?

Bo: Well, yeah, there are a lot of things that don't make--

D.A. Woods: Forget it. The investigation is closed.

Bo: No, it's not. We've got a lot--

D.A. Woods: You heard me. It's finished. Time to move on.

Arianna: It's just wrong, all right? You losing Sami because you can't tell her the truth about Emily?

Rafe: No surprise. Life's not fair.

Arianna: Okay, there's gotta be a way around it, all right? Why don't you come up with a plan, okay? You can stay in Salem--

Rafe: No, okay? Sami has to know all the details. It's just the way she is.

Arianna: Can't you at least reconsider?

Rafe: No! No more lies, okay? First of all, I can't stand doing it, and second of all, I-- I just can't, okay?

Arianna: Which means what, Rafe?

Rafe: Which means I have to leave town...and leave Sami.

Sami: Uh, hey, Rafe, it's Sami. Um... look, I just wanna talk, okay? We can't leave things the way that we did. I mean, we say we love each other and then... anyway, I want to believe you about Emily, I really do. call me. I love you.

Sami: Thank God. Rafe, you don't have to knock. I mean, come on, you still live--

Lucas: Oh, great. Why do I have the feeling you are not glad to see me?

Arianna: Come on, let's sit and talk, all right? I don't like seeing you like this.

Rafe: I'll live, okay?

Arianna: Yeah, just...not in Salem.

Rafe: It's not an option. Get used to it.

Arianna: I'm selfish, remember?

Rafe: [Laughs]

Arianna: I don't want you to leave me.

Rafe: Well, I don't wanna leave either. Wanna come with me?

Arianna: I like it here, Rafe. I have a great job, new friends. I actually feel like I belong here.

Rafe: I thought that too. Yeah.

Arianna: It's my fault. It happened a long time ago, and it'll never be over.

Rafe: No, stop it. Stop blaming yourself.

Arianna: How can I not blame myself?

Rafe: Because this is my decision and I'm handling this.

Arianna: Right, the way you handled it the night Emily died?

Daniel: Well, now that I'm free, we're gonna be able to figure out how to prove Kate did this. My first priority right now is to make sure Chloe's safe.

Victor: Chloe's in a coma.

Daniel: Exactly. The D.A. pulled that police guard from her hospital room so Kate can come and go at will.

Victor: You really think that Kate would be that blatant to try and kill her in a public hospital?

Daniel: Well, you know her better than I do, but we both know how cunning she is... not to mention arrogant. She thinks she can get away with anything.

Victor: That's still quite a reach.

Daniel: Can you please just--just humor me, okay? Put a guard on Chloe's door... just until she recovers. At least until I can prove that Kate did this. She's the one who poisoned her and put the blame on me.

Victor: I'm sorry, I can't do that.

Kate: No, I haven't heard any good news about Chloe. Tell me.

Maggie: Well, I heard some of the nurses talking, and apparently there's been a major increase in her brain activity. I mean, she even spoke.

Kate: She spoke?

Maggie: Yes! They said maybe it was Daniel's name, but they weren't sure.

Kate: Oh...I can't tell you how that makes me feel.

Maggie: I know. I have been so hopeful since I heard. I'm so relieved. She doesn't deserve to suffer like this. She's young and... she's got her whole life ahead of her. But now...there's hope.

Kate: Apparently. Lexie.

Lexie: Yeah.

Kate: We are so encouraged by the improvement that Chloe is showing. I mean, is this news as good as we're hoping it is? I she gonna wake up soon?

Daniel: You...don't want to help me.

Victor: Daniel, I'll do everything I can to prove you innocent.

Daniel: But the hell with Chloe. If she dies, that's just fine with you.

Victor: No, of course not, especially since you could be blamed for the crime!

Daniel: Then why won't you help me? If I'm sure that Chloe is protected--

Victor: She'll be fine.

Daniel: But at least then I can feel like I got the time to go after Kate, 'cause she is the one who is responsible.

Victor: I can't help you there.

Daniel: So what are you saying? Kate's innocent? You think somebody else poisoned Chloe? I mean, if you know something, Victor, you-- ah. [Sighs] I get it.

Sami: Oh, Lucas, don't be insulted. It's just...whatever.

Lucas: Yep, that's me. Good old whatever, right? Who were you expecting when you opened up the door?

Sami: How's Chloe?

Lucas: She's a lying, two-faced bitch. That's how Chloe is.

Sami: Come on, Lucas. She's also in a coma.

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah, she is. That's not my problem, is it?

Sami: I'm your ex. I can read you. I know you still care about her.

Lucas: I care about Allie. That's who I care about. I'd like to spend the afternoon with her if that's possible.

Sami: Oh, yeah, you ready for a tea party? 'Cause she's in there with her kitchen set.

Lucas: No, I don't do tea parties. I'm a man. Even for her, I don't do that. I'll let her chill for a while. So why don't you tell me who you were expecting at the door?

Sami: It's not important.

Lucas: Oh, well, I know you better than that. I'm your ex. I know when something's important to you.

Sami: Shut up.

Lucas: It's your boyfriend, the FBI guy? What's his name, Rafe? Things must not be going too well. Right? What'd you do to him this time?

Rafe: Yeah. I handled the Emily situation, and now I am handling Sami the only way that I know how, okay?

Arianna: You loved Emily, okay?

Rafe: Yeah.

Arianna: Losing her almost killed you, and I'm not gonna stand by and watch you go through that--

Rafe: Oh, really? What are you gonna do? You gonna tell Sami the truth? I didn't think so. You can't, and neither can I.

Lexie: Um... Kate, Maggie, look, I-I wish I had better news. Unfortunately, spikes in brain activity like these, uh... a-are common. Sometimes patients even wake up for a few minutes, say a few words.

Kate: So I-it might be meaningless?

Lexie: Well, some neurologists feel that, uh, it's a prelude to the shutting down of the entire system.

Maggie: Oh! Oh, dear God!

Lexie: Maggie, I am so sorry. I wish I had better news.

Kate: Uh, so Lexie... what you're actually saying is that... our Chloe may not be with us much longer?

Lexie: There's always hope, Kate. Okay? Let's just wait and see.

D.A. Woods: If you have anything to say, say it. I’m perfectly capable of multi-tasking.

Bo: Right. The case against Daniel Jonas isn't as clear as--

D.A. Woods: is...airtight. The evidence is solid, and I don't need you running around wasting taxpayers' money, trying to find more suspects.

Hope: But if it turns out that Dr. Jonas is innocent--

D.A. Woods: Detective, do you hear me? It's a slam-dunk. Daniel Jonas is guilty.

Bo: I've got some doubts about that, sir.

D.A. Woods: Is that a fact? Let's see. Daniel Jonas's godfather is Victor Kiriakis...who put up the bail to get him out. Happens to be your father. Could that have anything to do with it?

Bo: No, it doesn't...sir. My point is that--

D.A. Woods: Your point--your point? Your point is irrelevant because you have a massive conflict of interest. So guess what. If, and only if, I need anything investigated further... you won't be involved.

Sami: Why did you say that? How could you ask me that? Every time there's a problem, it's always my fault?

Lucas: Well, usually it is, yeah.

Sami: Well, not this time.

Lucas: All right, fine, it's not your fault. I'm sorry.

Sami: Okay, so you promise not to say anything?

Lucas: Promise not to say anything.

Sami: Rafe had a fiancée... like a couple of years ago. And...she died in a car accident on the day of their wedding.

Lucas: Wow.

Sami: Rafe was driving and speeding, so it's sort of... his fault.

Lucas: That's tough. Is there something else to this story?

Sami: Yeah. I, uh, I met this woman, Meredith. She's Emily's sister. Emily was Rafe's fiancée. She wrote me this letter before she left Salem. Um... she said that... they had a big fight right before the accident.

Lucas: It says that Emily found out something that could ruin Rafe's FBI career.

Sami: She doesn't provide any details or any specifics.

Lucas: Sami, he killed her. Sami...

Sami: That is Meredith's interpretation, yes. Come on, I mean... she just makes the accusation. She doesn't have any facts to back it up, and...she was upset and angry, of course, because her sister was killed.

Lucas: I think this woman's probably right. I think it's very possible that Rafe killed his fiancée.

Arianna: Okay, so...talking about Emily is out of the question. Fine. You're a smart guy. Think of some way to get Sami to leave all of this alone, focus on you two and the present.

Rafe: Look, one of the things about Sami is she never gives up. She didn't give up on grace. She's not gonna give up on this. She knows that I am keeping a big part of my life a secret from her.

Arianna: She's big on secrets. She kept a whopper from E.J. DiMera.

Rafe: [Laughs] Well, she's not in love with him.

Arianna: No. Because she loves you.

Rafe: Well, love isn't always enough. Found out a long time ago.

Arianna: Yeah, I guess I did too. Sorry, Rafe. I really am.

Rafe: Yeah.

Daniel: It's not that you won't help me nail Kate. You can't. You have to protect Philip.

Victor: He's my son.

Daniel: Yeah. And he would be devastated if you turned on his mother.

Victor: He's very devoted to her.

Daniel: But would he still be devoted to her if he found out that Kate tried to kill Chloe?

Victor: Daniel, my only priority right now is you-- making sure that you're not found guilty. What you need is a lawyer who knows how to go for the jugular.

Daniel: I do. I assume you've got one.

Victor: He's on his way.

Daniel: Good. Thank you. Listen, listen to me--I know you care about Philip--

Victor: Daniel, priorities. Whatever happens with Chloe or Kate or Philip--that's not gonna be our focus now. You're the one that's in trouble. You're the one that's important. Is that understood?

Daniel: Understood. But what are--

Victor: All we're gonna do now is focus on your defense. So what's the first thing you want to do?

Daniel: I want to keep Chloe alive.

Bo: As Commissioner, I am involved in all the cases this department investigates. Including Dr. Jonas.

D.A. Woods: Right. Got it. Part of your...job description.

Bo: Pretty much, yeah.

D.A. Woods: There is this one exception, and that is where the district attorney tells you to step aside.

Bo: You can... request that I do that, Mr. Woods. Of course, you have to offer a rationale.

D.A. Woods: [Laughs] I already have. Face it, Brady. You have a long and well-documented history of interceding on your family's behalf.

Hope: Excuse me, that is not true. He has bent over backwards to be impartial.

D.A. Woods: Ah...the wife speaks up for her husband. Touching. I suppose next we'll get testimony from commander Brady, your brother.

Bo: Would you like to make that a formal accusation in writing? You don't get to sling mud in my department and expect me to kneel down in front of you.

D.A. Woods: I wasn't slinging mud. I was simply giving you an order. Stay off the case. Both of you.

Bo: We're doing things by the book. I got leads to follow.

D.A. Woods: We're done here. Oh, and by the way... if either of you disobey my order... I'll have you suspended.

Sami: I have read this letter a hundred times. She doesn't have any proof. She just makes accusations.

Lucas: So she's just...going with whatever just popped into her head, right, she's passing time?

Sami: I don't know, maybe she has an agenda. Maybe she has a reason for wanting to turn me against Rafe. And why are you taking her side anyway?

Lucas: How did he react when you confronted him about this letter, what did he do? What did he have to say for himself, huh?

Sami: Well, he was upset. He didn't really say anything. He just...

Lucas: What'd he do, he walked out? Is that what he did?

Sami: Yeah.

Lucas: Yeah! See? Duh! Come on!

Sami: Oh, come on, just because he didn't want to talk about it doesn't make him automatically guilty. And who are you to make accusations anyway? You're the one who shot E.J. in the back!

Lucas: Yeah, I did shoot him. So what? I paid for it, I did my time. And by the way, E.J. deserved to die. Can you say the same thing about Rafe's fiancée?

Arianna: Just seems like a lifetime ago, you know?

Rafe: Hmm?

Arianna: Your wedding day. You and Emily were so happy. And then...despite the horrible tragedy of everything, you... you picked up the pieces of your life. You moved on. Got a great job with the FBI. I...went on a journey, I guess, to figure myself out.

Rafe: Yeah, well, I'm glad you're back in my life.

Arianna: Are you, really? 'Cause if I wasn't here, maybe this whole thing with Emily would never...come up.

Rafe: Ari... Emily was the love of my life. There's no way that her death was not gonna be a major issue. You did what you did and... I did what I did, and Emily died because of it. Now, we can't make it go away. There's nothing we can do to change what happened. And we can never, ever talk about it.

Maxine: Wait! You can't go in there.

Daniel: Look, look, I-I know I'm not supposed to be here--

Maxine: You're not supposed to be anywhere near this room.

Daniel: I just need to see her. Maxine, please.

Maxine: I'm sorry.

Daniel: Mm. Okay. At least--at least just tell me how she's doing.

Maxine: She's still in a coma. There was some recent increase in brain activity, but the doctors all said it was not significant.

Daniel: Uh-uh, uh-uh, that's why I need to be in there, Maxine. I think it was significant. And I am gonna go in there to save her.

Kate: Thank you.

Waitress: You're welcome.

D.A. Woods: Ms. Roberts?

Kate: Yes.

D.A. Woods: D.A. Charles Woods.

Kate: How are you? Sit down, please.

D.A. Woods: Thank you. I have...bad news, I'm afraid.

Kate: I know, I heard. I talked to Dr. Carver. She said Chloe probably won't make it through the day.

D.A. Woods: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. If the worst does happen, I'll move up the charges against Daniel Jonas to premeditated murder.

Kate: Okay, I understand, but... if you didn't know about Chloe, then what's your bad news?

D.A. Woods: I'm afraid Victor Kiriakis intervened. Daniel Jonas is free on bail.

Victor: Thank you for coming. I know you have important things to do.

Bo: Not a problem. Wanted to talk to you about that 60 million you posted to get Daniel out of jail.

Hope: Quite a chunk of change, Victor.

Victor: Absurd, really. Judge thought he was gonna scare me. I had to stick it in his eye.

Bo: You're that sure he's innocent.

Victor: Absolutely. Aren't you?

Hope: We're keeping an open mind.

Victor: Open mind? Not only do I back Daniel 100%, I expect every member of the family to do the same. Which means, Bo, I expect you to do everything you can to keep this case from going to trial. What's wrong?

Sami: Of course, Emily didn't deserve to die. Rafe said it was an accident, that he was speeding and the car hit a tree.

Lucas: And her sister says it wasn't an accident.

Sami: Well, she's upset that her sister's dead and she's looking for someone to blame.

Lucas: Fine. Believe the man you're in love with. Believe me, it's a road straight to hell.

Sami: Rafe is not Chloe.

Lucas: You know what, if you choose to be blind by this whole situation, that's fine. But my eyes are wide open. All right, now... we believe anything we want about the people we love, don't we?

Sami: Oh, come on, you're not actually thinking about forgiving Chloe, are you?

Lucas: No, I'm not, and she's in a coma, so it doesn't matter anyway. The point is I don't think you should act like a fool in this. Don't let your love for this guy Rafe blind you to who he really is.

Daniel: I-I am just begging you, Maxine. You can come in with me. But if I can go in there...if I am right, Chloe will pull through. Just give me this chance. Please.

Kate: I can't believe they let Daniel out of jail with Chloe lying vulnerable in that hospital.

D.A. Woods: Believe me, nobody in the D.A.'S office is happy about it either. The judge did a complete 180 once Victor Kiriakis got a hold of him.

Kate: Yeah, well, when Victor wants something, he makes it happen.

D.A. Woods: The bond was 60 million. He must be awfully sure his godson didn't do it.

Kate: Oh, I imagine he is. But let me warn you--he's gonna be all over your office, and you won't be able to believe one word about anything.

D.A. Woods: He can say anything he likes. Daniel Jonas is guilty. I'm gonna prove it.

Kate: Well, thank you. I'm very happy that you're so confident in your case.

D.A. Woods: Definitely.

Kate: I have to tell you, though. I'm very unhappy that he's free. My son is going to be absolutely devastated.

D.A. Woods: Well, don't worry. The police will find a way to put him back where he belongs. In fact... I'll see to it myself. Personally.

Bo: All of our investigations have to follow the same rules and regulations. It's important that the public see the department as impartial.

Victor: The hell with the public! And I didn't see you worrying about being impartial when you saved Philip.

Hope: That was a close call. He nearly got fired over it.

Victor: And this is the same thing. Family first. Unless you two think that Daniel's guilty.

Lexie: Daniel, stop!

Officer: You hold it right there!

Daniel: Hey, hey, Lexie, no--I came to check on Chloe.

Lexie: No, you can't--you can't do that.

Daniel: No, no, I need to check her condition, because I know there's something--

Lexie: Listen, listen to me! You cannot go in there, okay? Look, I just got a call from the D.A.'s office. When you were released on bail, he put a round-the-clock guard on Chloe's room to make sure that you can't harm her.

Daniel: What?

Lexie: Yeah.

Daniel: Why would you ever entertain that idea? You know I would never do anything to hurt Chloe. You know that.

Lexie: I know that! Daniel, if it gets back to the D.A. that you tried to go into Chloe's room, your bail could be revoked. Hey, hey, hey. You can't help Chloe from a jail cell. Now, why don't you go home... all right? I'll let you know what's going on. But you can't go in there, Daniel.

Sami: Just because Emily's sister said it doesn't make it true.

Lucas: The fact that he didn't deny it and he won't talk about it? That makes it a lot more plausible, Sami.

Sami: I know Rafe! We have been through a lot together.

Lucas: Yeah, I know, witness protection and the safe house. You were on the run for days together.

Sami: Grace's death. He helped me through the hardest time in my entire life.

Lucas: Well, you know what? That doesn't apply here. The point when you follow your instincts instead of cold, hard logic, you usually make mistakes. It happens every time.

Sami: Oh, come on, Lucas, that isn't fair.

Lucas: You put everybody in danger, Sami, you do. And it's not just you. It's our kids, Allie and Johnny and will--you're gonna put them in danger too. I mean, do you really want your kids living with a murderer? You want that?

[Door clicks open]

Lucas: Okay, let's go. Got your stuff. Say good-bye to Mommy. Here she is.

Sami: Bye, sweetheart. Have fun with Daddy, okay? Love you.

Lucas: I'll bring her back tonight. You know, that is unless you guys are--

Sami: Yeah, no, that's fine. We'll be fine.

Lucas: Yeah, well... like everything works out for you.

Sami: Stop it.

Rafe: Bye, Allie, make sure that you-- well... guess we know what that was all about.

Victor: Can I get you something to drink?

Hope: No, I'm fine, thank you.

Bo: No, thanks.

Hope: Actually, I have to tell you, Victor...neither one of us figures Daniel for the poisoning.

Bo: Known a lotta bad guys. He's not one of 'em. There's something wrong here.

Victor: Well, then why don't you dig into it more? What, just arrest Daniel and walk away? Surely, there are other suspects.

Bo: You mean like Kate?

Hope: Daniel's convinced Kate set him up.

Bo: Which is clearly a possibility. We just don't have the evidence against her yet.

Hope: How would you feel about that...if Kate did do it? Would you be willing to watch her go to jail?

Bo: Philip would hit the roof.

Victor: I'm sure Philip would be very sad to see his mother in prison. But if that's where she belongs...

Bo:'re saying we should get the evidence against Kate... free the doc, and keep your hands clean.

Maggie: Well, hello there, you two. Allie, you look so pretty in that outfit.

Lucas: Honey, why don't, um... why don't you play with Becca over there? I see Becca and her mommy. They're playing on the swings. You wanna do that? I tell you what, you go play with them, and I'll watch you from here, but don't move from there, all right? It's okay, you can go ride it. It's safe. There you go. I'll be right here watching you. You know what, Maggie? You can keep walking.

Maggie: What?

Lucas: I don't want to sit down and have a conversation with somebody that lied to my face.

Maggie: Lucas, what's this about?

Lucas: I know, all right? I know everything. You told me that Chloe and Daniel were having an affair. I remember everything that happened that night. I started drinking and you told me, right, you told me they were having an affair.

Maggie: Yes. I did that.

Lucas: Yeah, you did. You did, and then when I went to Daniel's apartment to talk to him about it, to confront him, that's when I ran into that gas explosion. That's when I got my amnesia. And what did you do, Maggie? What did you do, huh? You lied to me! You lied to my face!

Maggie: Well, Lucas, at the time--

Lucas: You know what? I don't wanna hear it! How could you do that to me? How could you be so damn cruel?

Rafe: So you showed Lucas the letter.

Sami: Yeah.

Rafe: He's kinda your go-to guy for advice, is he?

Sami: Not exactly, but... I needed someone to talk to about it, and he came by to pick up Allie.

Rafe: Good. So he help you work things out?

Sami: No. Did you get my message?

Rafe: No, I didn't actually check my cell, but... I came over here because I felt we had some unfinished business.

Sami: Well, that's exactly what I said on your voicemail. I, uh...I wanted you to come back, because there's something I wanted to tell you.

Maggie: Lucas...yes, I lied to you when I didn't tell you everything...when you woke up in the hospital. But by then I'd seen... how much it hurt you when I told you the first time.

Lucas: Yeah, so better just tell me six months later, right? It's much better.

Maggie: Please...will you hear me out? Chloe swore to me that she loved you and only you...and that she would never be with Daniel again. And then he made it very clear that he would accept that. And I had to decide whether to give you and Chloe a chance or to destroy everything for you right then and there.

Lucas: Maggie, I trusted you. You're my aunt. I trusted you. You're supposed to be straight with me, right?

Maggie: I'm sorry.

Lucas: Well, you know what? So am I! I'm sorry too. Because I can't believe you anymore. I can't believe anything that comes out of your damn mouth! I don't want you to be my AA sponsor--that's it. What I want is I want you to stay away from me. I can't trust you! You played me out to be a fool. Stay the hell away from me. I mean it! Get out of here!

Lexie: Okay, so we'll meet up and take Theo to the carnival. Oh, yeah, a little R&R sounds great. I love you too, honey. Bye-bye.

Daniel: Lexie.

Lexie: Oh! Daniel!

Daniel: I-I had to see you. This is urgent.

Lexie: What is?

Daniel: You--you know me, right? We have worked together on a lot of cases, right?

Lexie: Mm-hmm.

Daniel: Okay, so you have got to listen to me, okay? I need your help.

Kate: Hey, Lucas.

Lucas: Hey, Mom, how you doing?

Kate: I just saw Maggie. She nearly ran me over. She wouldn't say a word.

Lucas: The hell with Maggie.

Kate: Lucas... honey...what's going on?

Lucas: Ma, she knew. Maggie knew abut Daniel and Chloe the whole time. She didn't say anything.

Kate: Yeah.

Lucas: And you knew too. Don't "yeah" me. You were on the same boat.

Kate: Look... apparently Maggie did know from the get-go. That's true. And I had suspicions, but honey, I couldn't say anything based on suspicions. Talk about the mother-in-law from hell.

Lucas: Yeah, well, point is everyone knew but me. Made me look like an idiot.

Kate: I'm sorry. I really am. [Sighs] And now I feel terrible, because I have more bad news.

Lucas: What do you mean "more bad news?" Something happen with Chloe? She all right?

Kate: No, honey, no, she's still... she's still lingering. But, um... Daniel's out on bail.

Lucas: He's what?

Kate: Yes. Apparently, Victor put up millions, and now he's free.

Lucas: He put up millions? You know what, I'm gonna go talk to that traitor! I'm gonna show him exactly--

Kate: Stop, stop--don't get yourself all worked up.

Lucas: I'm already worked up, Mom. It's too late for that. Daniel's free now? He's walking around because he tried to poison my wife because she wouldn't have sex with him?

Kate: Stop! Okay, just stop. All of this is just legal maneuvering. That's all it is, and it can change at any time.

Lucas: How the hell is it gonna change, Mom? What are you gonna do?

Kate: Well, actually, I just met with the district attorney just a little while ago and, um... he told me if, God forbid, Chloe does die...that he's going to change the charges from attempted murder to premeditated murder, which is a capital offense. And that means that Daniel will either spend the rest of his miserable life in prison... or he'll be executed.

Victor: The D.A. ordered you off the case?

Hope: About an hour ago.

Victor: Why, that little cockroach. I'm gonna show him what it means to be stepped on.

Bo: Victor, you gotta stay out of this.

Victor: You're gonna let that idiot push you around?

Bo: We've got other detectives to work on this, and they will with a little help.

Victor: So I'm just supposed to sit around while Daniel's being railroaded? Not likely!

Bo: There's nothing I can do right now.

Victor: Well, if you don't agree to help Daniel, then I have nothing more to say to you.

Bo: I wish I could help you, but--

Victor: Wishing won't do it, Bo. I need action. Fortunately, I've got someone coming who knows where he stands with the family.

Bo: Well, just remember what I said--pressuring the D.A. is only gonna backfire on you.

Justin: Hello, everybody.

Hope: Oh, my God, Justin.

Bo: Justin.

Rafe: Well, if Lucas told you to tell me good-bye... fine. Let's hear it.

Sami: Actually, he did tell me to stay away from you.

Rafe: But...

Sami: But I can't. I love you... and I know you love me. But loving each other means we have to be honest with each other. So I need you to be honest with me about what happened with Emily. I need you to tell me your side of the story. Tell me that Emily's death was an accident and that Meredith is wrong.

Rafe: And if I tell you that?

Sami: Then I'll believe you. And there won't be any more questions about Emily or your past. So can you tell me that?

On the next "Days of Our Lives" --

Bo: Victor's the one who's gonna have to take sides-- Kate or Daniel.

Kate: What happens if Justin--no, when Justin puts the spotlight on me?

Victor: Then you have no one to blame but yourself.

Rafe: I can't tell you the truth-- ever!
