Will: Sorry, I should have --

Sami: No, Will, it's okay.

Rafe: Hey.

Will: Hey.

Rafe: Want to hold her?

Sami: Here you go. Here she is. Yeah.

Will: Hey, Grace. It's me. It's your big brother.

Sami: She needs you, Will. She needs to know people love her.

Lexie: I realize the two of you think that you're very clever, but this is the second time father's left the hospital against medical advice.

E.J.: Lexie, he can't stay in that hospital.

Lexie: Oh, that's only for ordinary people, is that it?

E.J.: It's because tony died there. Look, he's never going to say anything, but he really can't bear to be there.

Lexie: Ah. Yeah, I do everything I can to avoid going to that floor.

E.J.: Look, if it makes you feel any better, his diet's good, he's doing his testing.

Lexie: Good. Good. That's good to hear. So, guess I wasted a trip, huh?

E.J.: No, why don't you stay here? Hang out with me and Sydney. She'd love to see her auntie.

Will: You were right. Thank you. You know, I'm really glad you're staying in Salem.

Mia: So am I, Will.

Caroline: Sami. I want to tell you something. I -- I called Father Matt.

Sami: No. No. No, I am not giving up. I am not giving up.

Lexie: [Chuckles] Hi, beautiful. Oh, my goodness. She gets more beautiful every day.

E.J.: Listen, how's, uh -- how's little Grace doing?

Lexie: [Sighs] Everybody's praying for a miracle.

E.J.: Poor Samantha.

Lexie: And Nicole. I saw her at the hospital. You'd think it was happening to her.

Nicole: I'm gonna go wash my face. God, I need a drink.

Chloe: Nicole.

Nicole: Don't worry. I won't.

Chloe: Hey. She's such a wreck.

Lucas: About something happening to somebody else? That's amazing.

Chloe: Lucas, stop it.

Lucas: Oh, God.

Caroline: You were right. She got very upset when I told her you were here.

Father Matt: Caroline, the baby doesn't need me. I'm here to help the family.

Caroline: Oh, please don't go because maybe Sami will want you here...if the time comes.

Sami: You remember her christening?

Rafe: I do.

Sami: I thought God was gonna take care of her.

Rafe: Sami.

Sami: I thought he was gonna protect her... and make sure she was okay. And I can't believe grandma would bring him here. I don't -- I don't want him to be here, Rafe. I don't.

Rafe: Hey. We're gonna do whatever you want.

Sami: [Voice breaking] I just want what's best for her. I just want her to be okay. We're losing her, aren't we, Rafe? We're losing our baby.

Fr. Matt: May the Lord Jesus bless you and lead you to eternal life.

E.J.: Strange. I really don't know why Nicole's doing that. I guess I do, I suppose. She's always loved that baby. Maybe I should go and spend some time with her.

Lexie: You know, if you want to go be with Nicole, I'll stay with Sydney.

E.J.: No. No. I know how hard you work. Go home. Go be with your family, all right? Go and be with Abe and Theo.

Lexie: Good night.

E.J.: Lexie. Take care of yourself.

Lexie: You too.

[Sydney babbling]

E.J.: Hi. Don't worry. Your mother's going to be home soon. And then everything will be all right.

Rafe: I remember the first time I ever saw her.

Sami: Love at first sight.

Rafe: I didn't even know that I wanted a family. But you did. You just crooked your little finger...twist me all up.

Sami: Little Grace... you brought much love... and so much happiness. And I hope you know how much -- how much we love you. 'Cause we love you more than anything -- more than anything in the whole world.

[Monitor beeping]

[Monitor beeping rapidly]

Rafe: You want to get the doctor?

Sami: No. No. No. I -- no, I just want it to be us. I just want it to be us, okay?

[Monitor shuts off]

Daniel: I' sorry. Just give me a second. Stay as long as you'd like. Did you want your family?

Sami: No. No.

Daniel: Grace went peacefully about five minutes ago. Sami and Rafe are spending time with her now. I'm sorry.

Sami: [Sobbing]

Sami: No, wait. This isn't okay. This isn't right. Here's your little blankie, sweetie. There's your little bunny blanket. Your favorite one. I know you hear us. I know you can still hear us, and I... and I know that you know your mommy and your daddy... we love you. And we're gonna love you. We're gonna love you forever. I know you're in heaven now. [Sniffles] And you're gonna look out for us, aren't you? You're gonna help us. You're gonna help us get through this 'cause we're not -- we're not gonna be able to do this without you. You're mommy's little angel. [Sobbing]

Sami: [Sobbing, sniffling]

E.J.: So, you're going to be a night owl, are you? You think sleep's boring. That's going to be fun for daddy. Do you think you call the shots? Do you? You think the whole world just revolves around you? Let me tell you a little secret. I'm convinced that I was put on this earth for no reason other than to spoil you rotten... and to keep you safe.

Caroline: That's not possible. A beautiful little baby girl. How can Sami bear this? How can anyone bear this?

Roman: I don't know, Ma. I don't know.

Will: It all happened so fast. I can't even believe it.

Lucas: Your mom's gonna need you now more than ever. She's really gonna lean on you.

Will: Yeah, I know.

Lucas: So you can lean on me.

Will: Yeah. I will. I should go be with her.

Lucas: Yeah, go ahead. Chloe?

Chloe: Hey. I watched you tonight, and the reason why you're such a good doctor is because you care so much.

Daniel: Good doctor. That might be a bit of an overstatement.

Chloe: Daniel, you did everything you could. We just have to believe that God wanted her.

Daniel: Yeah, right. Right, it's all part of a plan.

Chloe: Daniel.

Daniel: Chloe. Go. Go. Go be with your husband.

[Baby fussing]

Nicole: [Voice breaking] You're here. Oh, my God. You're finally here. Yeah.

Nicole: I knew from the second I saw you, you were an angel. And now you're in heaven.

Sami: [Sobbing]

Mia: Seeing the sun come up like that...

Will: It's kind of awesome. [Sighs]

Mia: Are you okay?

Will: I don't know. It's like every time I think of Grace dying, there's this big hole.

Mia: Me too. You know, I know I wasn't related to her or anything, but I loved her so much. Now it's like a part of me's gone.

[Door opens]

[Door closes]

Victor: Oh, Brady. I'm glad you could make it. Can I get you some coffee?

Brady: No thanks. Henderson called me last night, said you wanted to see me.

Victor: Yes, well, um... now that this business with the DiMeras seems to be winding down, I was hoping that I could atone for some of the things that I did. Hardly proud of the way I treated you. I was hoping you could just look past that and forgive me.

Brady: Hell no.

E.J.: You okay?

Nicole: Yeah. Um...I came in late last night. I-I didn't want to wake you. Little Grace died last night.

E.J.: Oh, my God. Poor Samantha.

[Door opens]

Sami: [Sobbing]

Will: You should probably get home and sleep. You have finals today, right?

Mia: Yeah, but not till 1:00. I don't want to leave you alone.

Victor: Ah, here you go.

Brady: I said I didn't want any.

Victor: Well, I find when a man has a drink in his hand, he's much more amenable to discussion.

Brady: Oh. I'm surprised at you. If anyone's a realist, you are.

Victor: I am.

Brady: Then you should know there's no way you can apologize for what you did.

Victor: Of course I can. I just did. Whether you accept it or not, that's a different story.

Brady: Grandfather, I don't. You disowned me. You told me you never wanted to see me in these hallowed halls again, all because I was trying to help and protect my family, our family.

Victor: That wasn't what the problem was. The problem was I specifically said not to get the police involved.

Brady: I was doing what I thought was right.

Victor: If you had just stayed out of it, I could have handled the situation.

Brady: Let's -- let's stay realistic, okay? That gardener that kidnapped Stephanie was hired by the DiMeras, but by the end of the whole thing, he was a wild card.

Victor: Still, I could have done --

Brady: And if the police wouldn't have come into it, Owen would still have Stephanie, maybe worse, and Melanie and I, we would have died in that mausoleum probably.

Victor: Which brings me to my main point. I want to thank you.

Sami: It's all my fault.

Rafe: We're not gonna talk like that anymore, remember?

Sami: It was my fault. If I had just told E.J. the truth right from the beginning, you know, everything would have been different. This would have been different.

Rafe: It was the germ, okay? It came out of nowhere. It wouldn't have mattered who Grace's parents were.

Sami: I wasn't paying attention. She has this fever, and I didn't do anything about it!

Rafe: Sami, stop this, okay?

Sami: I was so busy lying and keeping secrets and I didn't even pay attention to my little girl.

Rafe: You got to stop blaming yourself, okay?

Sami: And God is punishing me for everything that I have done.

Rafe: Stop it, please.

Sami: Stop saying that it's not my fault, because it is! It is my fault!

Rafe: Listen to me.

Sami: I didn't care about anybody but myself, and my kids need my help and I didn't help them. I didn't help them. Baby. Our baby. [Sobbing]

Sami: She was supposed to be able to count on me. I was s-- I was supposed to help her.

Rafe: She could count on you. You knew she could, okay? I see you with your kids all day, every day. You give them 100%.

Sami: Allie. Allie and -- and Johnny. I have to find them. I have to talk to them. I have to tell them what's happened.

Rafe: Are you sure you want to do this today?

Sami: I have to. I have to, Rafe, because they can't hear about it from anybody but me. I have to be the one to tell them what's happened to their little sister and -- and -- and I need you to help me. I need a favor.

Rafe: Whatever you need, okay? Whatever you need, I'm here.

E.J.: Unbelievable. That precious little child.

Nicole: She was so sweet. Innocent. And she never did anything to hurt anyone.

E.J.: This has hit you very hard, hasn't it?

Nicole: Yes. I'm a mother, E.J. My daughter is the same age. That could have been our Sydney.

E.J.: Yes, of course. [Sighs] Life can be very random sometimes. She's healthy. I mean, aside from that one little scare that we had, she's healthy. Look, I'm sorry. I have to go upstairs and get dressed. You'll be okay?

Nicole: Yeah. I'll be fine.

E.J.: Okay.

[Cell phone rings]

Will: Oh. Hello?

Rafe: Hey, Will, it's Rafe. Uh, listen, Sami needs the twins with her so she can tell them what happened. Any chance you can go pick up Allie and bring her home?

Will: Uh, yeah. No, absolutely. I'm on my way.

[Doorbell rings]

Nicole: Mary, doorbell. Harold, door! [Ringing continues] 800 men with guns and no one to answer the door.

Marco: The man says he has business with Mr. DiMera about the boy.

Nicole: It's all right, Marco. Thank you. Please come in.

Rafe: Sami asked me to come pick up Johnny so she could tell him the news about Grace. I hope to God you haven't said anything.

Nicole: I haven't seen him. And E.J. just found out himself. Oh. Johnny loved his little sister so much.

Rafe: Yeah, he did.

Nicole: And you. You were making arrangements to adopt Grace. You must be devastated. I'm so sorry.

Rafe: So, can I take Johnny now?

E.J.: No, you may not. You're not taking my son anywhere.

Sami: [Sniffles] [Chuckles] [Sniffles] [Sobbing]

E.J.: Johnny is staying with me today.

Rafe: Yeah, well, Sami wants both kids with her so that she can tell them about what happened to Grace. Now, Will's already gone to pick up Allie, so she sent me here to get Johnny.

E.J.: Fine. Then I will take him over to Samantha myself.

Rafe: That's not gonna happen. See, Sami has made it clear to me that she wants to spend today alone with her kids.

E.J.: Let me tell you something -- Johnny is my son.

Rafe: Now, what part of what I just said do you not understand?

E.J.: I beg your pardon.

Rafe: I'm sorry. I just -- I'm under a lot of stress right now. You know, maybe, just for one day, you and I can get along and do what's best for Sami.

Nicole: E.J...I think it's a good idea. Do it for Sami.

E.J.: You're right. I apologize. I'll get Johnny ready for you.

Rafe: Thank you. I mean, if you didn't just do that for Sami, I get it. But you did it for Grace, you know? Well, that's a good thing.

[Door opens]

Sami: Hey! Hi! Hey, handsome! Look at your hair. Mwah! Hi, pretty. Hey, sweetheart. Thank you, everybody. Hey, did it go okay?

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, it's good.

Sami: Hey, sweetheart.

Johnny: Is that baby food?

Sami: Yeah, it sure is. It's your sister's.

Mia: I'M...

Will: Okay, yeah.

Mia: I'm gonna go. I have a final at 1:00.

Sami: Um, Mia, thank you for everything.

Mia: I'm sorry, Mrs. Brady. She was special to me. She really was. Bye. Call me, okay?

Sami: Okay.

Rafe: Sami, you want me to, uh...

Sami: Um...I need to do this with my kids. I'm sorry.

Rafe: No, right, of course. I'll just, uh -- I'm gonna go take care of those arrangements that we talked about. And I'll see you later.

Sami: Okay, so, Johnny... I have something I have to tell you both. Allie, Johnny... this is gonna be really hard for me to say.

Brady: You want to thank me?

Victor: Yes, for working with Philip to rescue Stephanie. Have a pastry.

Brady: No thank you. Philip and Stephanie have already thanked me.

Victor: Well, I want to thank you for something beyond the actual rescue. You showed that your moral conscience be damned when the family is in trouble that you'll step up, so I want to thank you for being a true Kiriakis. And for what it's worth, I'm really sorry for what I did. So, will you come home?

Arianna: Hey, big bro.

Rafe: Hey.

Arianna: You okay?

Rafe: No.

Arianna: What happened?

Rafe: Just lost one of the most important people in my life last night.

Arianna: Oh, man. Did Sami --

Rafe: It's not Sami.

Arianna: Okay. What happened?

Rafe: Grace died.

E.J.: So, all set for a new day. Hopefully a brighter one.

Nicole: Hopefully. Thank you for letting Rafe take Johnny to Sami's.

E.J.: It wasn't about him being with his mother. It was just about, you know, the transportation. [Cell phone ringing] Sorry. One second.

Nicole: Sure.

E.J.: [Sighs] Back to work. I have to take this one.

Nicole: Okay.

E.J.: Mr. Myoto, Konnichiha. How are you, sir? Excellent. Thank you.

Nicole: [Sighs] Stefano, you scared me.

Stefano: I think we should finish our little conversation.

On the next "Days of Our Lives" --

Lucas: No more secrets, really. Let's be honest with each other. Let's start right now, today.

Arianna: It's like those two are trying to cover something up.

Nicole: Oh, and if E.J. ever finds out that he has another child by Sami --

Stefano: It cannot happen ever.

Sami: I didn't tell you the truth.

E.J.: What truth?
