Sami: You were saying?
Rafe: I don't remember.
Sami: I think we were arguing. You want to finish that argument now or later?
Rafe: How about never?
Sami: Sounds good.
Carlo: Yes, sir.
Philip: When was the last time you saw Stephanie?
Carlo: Several hours ago on the terrace.
Philip: Where'd she go after that?
Carlo: I don't know, sir.
Philip: I thought we were paying you guys to protect us, to know everything. I'm just disgusted with you guys. Would you please just go search the house, speak to someone, find Stephanie? God. Come on, Stephanie. Pick up the phone. Pick up.
Owen: That's not Mr. DiMera's number. Who the hell else would be calling me?
E.J.: Just pick up the phone. Pick it up. Pick up -- doesn't recognize the bloody number. I'll text him. I'll send him a text. "Owen, I'm calling from a new number. Box 11079. Call back immediately." I'm coming for you, father. Just hold on a bit longer.
E.J.: You said this feud must end. This is not the way to do it.
Victor: No, I think it is.
E.J.: He'll never accept this. My father will retaliate.
Victor: With what? As far as I know, he only uses mercenaries. He won't be able to afford them.
E.J.: He'll come back, Victor. He always does.
Victor: Not this time. He's a sick old man, Elvis. And it's the end of an era.
Philip: Owen, it's Philip Kiriakis.
Owen: Oh, hey, Mr. Kiriakis.
Philip: Listen, I know it's a long shot, but I've called the rest of the staff and no luck. Do you by chance know where Stephanie's at? Owen? Owen, you there?
Brady: No, Charles, actually, I'm gonna have to pass. No, no, I'm not playing hardball on this. There's a perfectly good explanation why Victor is not returning your calls. He's not hands-on at titan anymore. As a matter of fact, he's been semiretired for quite a while. No, no, Philip is busy. I'm handling the accounts now, and it's completely my decision, Charles. Yeah, I'm sure you have read the papers. Look, look, look, I'm not going to discuss my personal family situation with you now or ever. The bottom line is, I looked at your books, I saw your company's projection for next year, and I didn't like what I saw. Goodbye as well. [Sighs]
Arianna: It seems like I'm always listening in on your conversations. You seem to have a lot going on, which is totally none of my business.
Brady: It's all right. It's okay. I'm just -- have a lot of family obligations going on. It's cool, though. It's fine.
Arianna: Seems like you got a lot on your mind, which is probably why you left this behind. I'm not stalking you. I just thought you might need it.
Brady: Yeah, no, thank you.
Arianna: Interesting color. Actually never seen one of those before.
Brady: It's a corporate card.
Arianna: So, cute and rich. Your wife's a lucky lady.
Brady: You think I'm cute?
Arianna: It's not really an opinion. Just statement of fact.
Brady: This is really interesting, 'cause you were practically snarling at me a couple days ago and now you're giving me compliments. I like that.
Arianna: Feisty and honest. What can I say? I'm known to have the occasional mood swing.
Brady: My head's spinning here. I mean, it's just like a big 180 you pulled. Doesn't have anything to do with me having one of these, does it?
Arianna: Oh, my God. You've got to be kidding me. You think I'm being nice to you because you've got a black credit card, because you're rich?
Owen: Uh, Stephanie. Stephanie, sir. Um, I'm sorry. I haven't seen her. Um, wh-- why would you ask?
Philip: I just haven't been feeling all that well tonight, and, uh, I lost track of her. She's M.I.A., Nowhere to be found.
Owen: Maybe she went out for some air.
Philip: That's what I was thinking, and I know that since you walk the perimeter of the grounds, I thought maybe you might have seen her.
Owen: Oh, Mr. Kiriakis, I'm sorry, sir. I haven't seen her.
Owen: Uh, I wish I could be of more help, sir.
Philip: Well, thank you, Owen. I'm sorry to bother you at home.
Owen: Oh, no worries, Mr. Kiriakis. I totally understand what you mean about the whole security thing, but you know what? It's really like fort Knox over there, sir, and if I were you, I'd just rest easy. Everything's on lockdown.
Philip: Yeah, yeah, I'm overreacting, I guess. It's just she's not answering her phone. It's not like her.
Owen: Well, just between you and me, sir -- oh, maybe it's not my place to say.
Philip: What? What?
Owen: Well, it's just that I overheard the two of you arguing earlier tonight, and is there any way she might have just taken off?
E.J.: You gave up, I see.
Nicole: I-I-I tried. He just doesn't want to calm down. Mary's with him now.
E.J.: Damn! I'm sorry, with his crying and this incessant screaming.
E.J.: He misses his mother, all right? I understand that, but she's not here, is she, okay? So for the love of God, can he please shut up?!
[Monitor turns off]
E.J.: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Nicole: E.J., I know how hard these past few weeks have been for you. I know you're worried about your father, about all of us.
E.J.: Yeah, I don't know whether it was the right decision to bring him back here.
Nicole: You mean Johnny? Honey, you brought him here because you -- you love him and you want to keep him safe. I mean, if he was with Sami, who knows what kind of danger he would be in? I just wish there was more I could do to help.
E.J.: Sweetheart, come here. You're my rock, you know that? Thank you for being so patient with me.
Nicole: You're welcome. Wh-- what happened to your phone?
E.J.: That damn girl. I should have never let her in the house.
E.J.: Yes -- Sami. If I've screwed this up, I'm never gonna forgive myself or her.
Sami: Ow. Ow! Ow!
Sami: Ow, that hurt.
Sami: Wait. Wait. Wait, what if Grace wakes up? W-- what if she starts to cry?
Rafe: We'll put her back to sleep.
Sami: No, but what if she doesn't go back to sleep? What if she keeps crying? What if we end up playing scrabble again?
Rafe: Sami, if you don't want to do this, it's okay.
Sami: No. Oh, my God. I do. I really do. I just...
Sami: Look, you mean a lot to me, and I don't want to screw this up. I'm scared you're gonna come to your senses.
Rafe: Come to my senses?
Sami: Yeah, you're gonna ask yourself, "what am I doing with this chick? She's got four kids. She looks like she's got four kids. She's got baggage with four kids. What am I thinking?"
Rafe: Sami, you know I don't think that at all.
Sami: Why, because you're a glutton for punishment?
Rafe: No, because -- oh. Look, first of all, you don't look like you had four kids, okay? And secondly, I love that you have four kids. I love everything about you.
Sami: You're too good to be true.
Rafe: No, I'm not. Not at all.
Victor: E.J. Should be calling very soon. Or not. Either way...it's finished.
Brady: Ooh, here comes feisty again.
Arianna: ...You. I don't know who the hell you think you are, but I don't give a damn about your money or your incredibly good looks. I don't care if you got something huge packed away in your pants.
Brady: [Laughs] What?
Arianna: Oh, for God sake, I'm not talking about that. I was talking about the checkbook in your back pocket.
Brady: Oh, yeah. Oh, hey, you're checking out my butt, then, is what you were doing, right?
Arianna: I was not. You have got to be the most egotistical -- I just happened to glance in that direction, and...never mind. And you know what? See, I was just trying to be nice, okay? I felt bad about snapping at you or what did you call it -- snarled?
Arianna: Yes. And I was trying to do my job. Take care of a paying customer, and now...
Brady: Now? Now what?
Arianna: I'm sorry I crossed paths with you.
Sami: No, I just said --
Rafe: That I was too good to be true. I'm not. It's not like you need to be rescued from some rubble pile or avalanche or anything.
Sami: No, but...I've been through a lot in my life, and... I know I'm like resilient or whatever, but...I usually end up alone. I'm not good at this, at relationships, and I'm just... I'm just afraid that I'm gonna push you away. I always push away people that I really care about, and I don't want that to happen. I mean, I can't even believe that you're still here now.
Rafe: There's no place else I'd rather be.
Sami: Really? You can really look me in the eye and tell me there aren't a million places you'd rather be.
Rafe: Am I not looking you in the eye? I am right now. There is nowhere else that I would rather be. This is good. It's great. I'm happy. Are you happy?
Sami: You have no idea.
Rafe: Because you don't seem very happy.
Sami: No. I just -- I just wish things were simpler.
Rafe: Simpler? Come on, I told you, I like things the way they are. I think they're fantastic, and...I like that your life is complicated. And...it would mean more to me than anything if you'd let me be part of it. Yeah?
Sami: As predicted.
Rafe: I'm a patient man.
Sami: [Laughs] I better go get her to take her bottle in about 10 minutes, and then she should be down for the night.
Rafe: I'll be right here waiting.
Sami: Okay. Okay.
Carlo: I checked the entire house. No sign of Miss Johnson.
Philip: Check again. Hey, go to our room. See if her things are still here.
Owen: Who the hell is that?
E.J.: Come on, just answer the phone.
Nicole: This operative of yours doesn't recognize your phone number?
E.J.: He's not exactly the sharpest tool in the box, evidently.
Nicole: Okay, well, you'll get through. You just have to be patient, E.J.
E.J.: Patient? Nicole, this is a disaster, okay? It's a disaster. If he doesn't -- hello?
E.J.: Owen, it's me.
Owen: Wait, no, no, no. This is not the same line you were calling me from.
E.J.: It doesn't matter, okay? Have you got her?
Owen: How do I know that this is you?
E.J.: Box 11079, all right? I had an incident on my secure line. I'm gonna be calling from this number from now on. Now, please, Owen, mission accomplished -- yes or no?
Owen: Yeah, yeah, I got her. Now that I have her, what do you want me to do with her? Right. No, not a problem. Okay, yes, sir.
Sami: You should have seen her. She had this perfect little dreamy smile. S-- Rafe?
Philip: Hey. It's me. I kind of wanted to say this in person, but since I can't seem to find you anywhere...look, I'm just -- I-I-I'm sorry about our fight, Steph. And I know this is gonna sound lame, but look, I don't even remember half of what I said. Those pain meds, they've made me kind of crazy, and I just... just please call me, okay? Let me know you're okay. I really am sorry. I love you. Call me.
Stephanie: Where am I?
Stephanie: Oh. Where am I?
Carlo: As far as I could tell, all of Miss Johnson's belongings are upstairs.
Philip: What about her engagement ring?
Carlo: I didn't see it.
Stephanie: Philip. [Sobbing]
E.J.: Okay, so, you understand your instructions.
Owen: Yes, sir, clearly. Oh, one question, though.
E.J.: What's that?
Owen: Don't you want to know where she is?
E.J.: No, absolutely not. I need to have plausible deniability.
Owen: Right, got it. Sorry.
E.J.: Good. Listen, until you hear anything more from me, just don't do anything, okay?
Owen: Easy enough.
Stephanie: [Breathing heavily]
Owen: Stephanie, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Forgive me, please. I had no choice.
Owen: I hope you understand why I can't let you make that call, Stephanie. Nobody can ever know that you're here. You understand? If they find out, we're both dead. I'm sorry.
Rafe: You and I, we don't work together.
Rafe: I want to be a bigger part of your life than you want me to be.
Sami: What? No, that's not true.
Rafe: Neither one of us wants it to be true... but we both know that it is.
Sami: What -- what is all this? You did this? It's beautiful.
Rafe: Well, what can I say? That daughter of yours has excellent timing.
Sami: You did this all while I was putting Grace back to sleep?
Rafe: It's all about the preparation.
Sami: You know what? I thought...
Rafe: What? You thought I left? Sami, what do I have to do to convince you that I'm not going anywhere?
Arianna: For the record, I'm not hitting on you. I am not flirting.
Brady: Well, not to belabor the point, but a couple minutes ago, you did call me, um...cute.
Arianna: And now I'm calling you butthead.
Brady: I've been called worse, actually. If you weren't flirting with me, by the way, why were you fishing about my marital status?
Brady: Well, you said to me that my wife was a lucky lady, and by saying that, you expected me to respond in one of two ways. I could have said, "yeah, she is a lucky lady," or I could have said, "no, I'm not married." See, you're not subtle.
Arianna: Do you do this with every woman?
Brady: What's that?
Arianna: Just assume that when a woman's making polite chitchat, it's a fishing expedition and a come-on.
Brady: No, I don't do that. And just for the record, I'm not married. I'm divorced.
Arianna: I didn't ask, and I don't care.
Brady: I'm beginning to sense that, actually.
Brady: I can understand how this comes across as me being -- what did you say -- full of myself? But I'm not. I swear to God I'm not. I'm just -- actually, I've been out of the game a little while. I'm a little rude and rusty because I'm out of practice.
Arianna: And what are you practicing now?
Brady: I'm flirting.
Arianna: I thought we established that there's no flirting going on here.
Brady: See? Do you see how bad I am at this?
Arianna: Not totally your fault. I'm definitely, definitely testy today.
Brady: It's okay. I'm testy, too. We've already established that, with all my family issues and it's a big mess.
Arianna: Well...I'm sure it will all work out somehow. Good luck with all that.
Brady: I appreciate that. Thank you. I hope you're right.
Arianna: Yeah, I should go. I got to go.
Brady: Okay. You should go. Go. But just for the record, I want to let you know that I think you're cute, too. Whoa. Bye-bye, Arianna.
Philip: Hey, Brady.
Brady: Hey. Hey. What are you doing out like this? You're not flying solo, are you? You're supposed to be flanked by household security, man.
Philip: I had the guards keep a reasonable distance.
Brady: All right. Hey, are you all right?
Philip: Yeah, I'm just -- I'm just a little woozy from the meds. That's all.
Brady: Is there anything I can get you?
Philip: You can tell me if you've seen Stephanie or not. I thought she might have come here to see her grandmother.
Brady: Philip, you don't look good, man. Are you sure you should be out right now?
Philip: Hey, I'm not the one you need to be worried about.
Brady: What is going on? Did something happen to Stephanie?
Victor: Well, E.J., I would have though I would have heard from you by now. If nothing else, to inquire after your father's health. Yet here I am calling.
Victor: What's the matter, E.J.? Too busy to check in?
E.J.: What do you want?
Victor: Well, I thought you'd be interested in knowing that Stefano is awake and alert. We gave him a rather large injection of insulin, and he's responding quite well to it. Problem is, we're fresh out. We don't have any more and no plans to restock.
E.J.: You're a son of a bitch. You know that? Son of a bitch.
Victor: E.J., It would behoove you to rein in that famous temper of yours. Now, do you have all the documents signed and ready for me to turn over the DiMera enterprises, or is your father going to die tonight?
Stephanie: [Groans] What is this place? Where am I?
Owen: Uh, yeah, sorry about the accommodations. It's the best I could do on short notice.
Stephanie: What did you do to me? My God, I can barely move. You kidnapped me. Why am I so weak?
Owen: Those are the effects of the chloroform. It should wear off any minute now, though. Don't worry.
Stephanie: Oh, my God. This is a morgue.
Owen: That it is.
Stephanie: You brought me to a morgue?
Owen: Look on the bright side, at least you're not dead in a morgue.
Stephanie: Why? Why are you doing this to me?
Owen: I told you, I had no choice. They made me. Hey. Don't move, don't move.
Stephanie: Just let me go.
Owen: No, no, no, no. You're fine, you're fine.
Stephanie: Let me go.
Owen: No, no, no. I promise you, if you do what you say and follow my instructions, everything should work out just fine.
Stephanie: What instructions?
Owen: Just smile and look beautiful for the camera, which should be easy for you because even after everything you've been through, you still look so beautiful right now.
Stephanie: What are you doing?
Owen: Hold still. Let me just fix this hair, these hairs. No, no, no, shh, shh, shh. Don't be scared. Don't be scared.
Philip: Where the hell is that waitress? I asked her to get Caroline five minutes ago.
Brady: Philip, what's going on? Did something happen to Stephanie?
Philip: Nothing could have happened to Stephanie with all those guards at the house, okay?
Brady: That's not an answer.
Philip: What is it to you anyway? What are you gonna do, call the cops?
Brady: Yeah, yeah, that's a good start.
Philip: Butt out of my life, Brady. I can handle this.
Brady: Philip, you tell me that Stephanie is missing. I'm not supposed to react to that at all?
Philip: Look, bro, you gave up the right to react the second you went to Bo Brady and ratted out your own family.
Brady: Oh, for God sake.
Philip: What, you gonna deny it?
Brady: Listen to me, Philip. 24/7 I've been keeping titan afloat while you and grandfather have been plotting your next revenge move, deciding who's gonna be murdered next.
Philip: I'm seriously getting confused here.
Brady: What are you confused about? You want me to write you a diagram as to what I'm talking about here?
Philip: I'm confused because first you're a Kiriakis, then you're a DiMera, then you're a Brady. I mean, make up your mind. Which one is it, huh?
Brady: You know the answer to that one.
Philip: Yeah, I do. You're always looking out for number one -- yourself.
Brady: Oh, okay, so I'm selfish. I'm the selfish one, is that it?
Philip: You don't follow the rules because you're a champion of ethics and morality. You follow them 'cause you don't want to get caught. You're always looking out for number one the way you always have.
Brady: I really don't need this.
Philip: Fine. What, am I begging you to stay?
Brady: [Scoffs] Look, if you need help...
Philip: [Chuckles] You'd be the last one I'd call. Get out of here.
E.J.: You're gonna hear from me, Victor, very shortly. I promise you that.
Victor: Well, do you have any last words you'd like me to say to your father?
E.J.: Don't you worry. I'll say them myself when I see him.
Victor: To his face or in his eulogy?
Owen: Ugh, sorry, Stephanie, but that first picture was -- well, you looked a little down in the dumps. Can you at least try and smile?
Stephanie: Please, Owen, you don't have to do this.
Owen: Stop saying that. I already told you, I didn't have a choice. Stephanie, you have nothing to be afraid of, okay? Honestly, I would never, ever hurt you. You have to believe me. To me, you're like one of those peach blossoms, the kind I let grow wild out in the gardens. I'd never bring them in for cutting. You're too beautiful. All right, just, uh, one little smile for me, okay? Try and think of something happy.
Stephanie: I can't.
Owen: All right, well, I'll just have to take what I can get, then.
E.J.: You're certain that he's there? I see. No, no, no, no. Just...leave it for the time being, but I'll be in touch.
Nicole: He's finally back asleep.
E.J.: Thank you.
Nicole: I had to read him "Goodnight Moon" about 10 times. I think I know it by heart now.
E.J.: [Chuckles] I bet you do.
Nicole: So, uh, how are you doing?
E.J.: I think we're back on track.
Nicole: Oh, E.J., that's great. I knew you would pull it off. Victor and Sami be damned.
E.J.: Okay, I have to get going.
Nicole: Okay. Um, good luck.
E.J.: Luck? I don't need luck. I know exactly what's gonna happen. Somebody's eyes are about to get opened in a very big way. I love you.
Nicole: I love you.
Softly kissing you so softly gently loving you so gently
I've never seen anything more clearly
you are everything I've hoped for
everything I've longed for
everything and more
everything and more
Sami: What? What are you laughing at?
Rafe: I was just thinking about when I first met you at the safe house. You were, uh...what's the word? Hostile.
Sami: [Laughs] Well, you were hardly a ball of charm.
Rafe: Oh, yeah? Well, you sure knew how to work it, didn't you?
Sami: What? What are you talking about?
Rafe: Come on. Always trotting out the tears. No matter what crazy stunt you just pulled, you'd just start crying. I just couldn't stay mad at you. What?
Sami: I just -- I just don't deserve this.
Rafe: Sami...hey. Look at me. What do I have to do to convince you that you...you're all I ever wanted?
Philip: Yeah, she was talking about leaving town, maybe to visit her parents. Right. Right, yeah, so I'm wondering if you heard anything about that. She did. [Sighs] Thanks, Max. I really appreciate your help. Hey, and give me a call if you hear from her, okay? Yeah, I'm sure it's nothing. She must have visited her parents. You too.
E.J.: You seem...cheerful, Philip. Everything going your way, is it?
Owen: Hey, thanks again for lending me your phone. Mine was about to die. I forgot the charger, of course. I should have been more prepared, but the thing is, I'm not used to doing this sort of thing. Are you okay?
Owen: "Had a minor equipment failure. Please contact me at this number from now...on."
Philip: Everything is great. Yeah. Everything is great. Couldn't be better. I'm just happy to be alive, actually.
E.J.: Happy to be alive. Unlike my brother. Happened over there, didn't it? Look at you now. You're just -- you wander blithely by. Talk on your phone about how you're having the time of your life.
Philip: I'm not blithe about anything. I think about tony all the time.
E.J.: Of course you do. Well...that's touching. Tell me something -- do you think about my father all the time?
Philip: I have no idea what you're talking about.
E.J.: Oh, I see. You think I'm an idiot. Is that right? You think that I don't know you have him.
Philip: What are you talking about?
E.J.: Your...pathetic son-of-a-bitch father...is holding him hostage. Well, I have a message for him.
Philip: Okay. What is that?
E.J.: He's not gonna win.
E.J.: And neither will you.
Owen: Ah, there it is. Message sent.
Arianna: What, did I scare you away from the pub for good?
Brady: Well, like I said, it's been a -- it's been a rough week.
Arianna: Don't tell Caroline, but the coffee's actually better here anyway.
Brady: What do you know? That's something we both agree upon.
Arianna: Brady, I just want --
Brady: Ow! My God! Oh, my God!
Sami: These tears are not, uh -- not manipulative.
Rafe: Well, I didn't say anything.
Sami: I'm so happy. I have never felt this way before.
Philip: Pretty cocky, aren't you, for a guy who's about to lose everything.
E.J.: I know. That would be you.
Philip: Me? What are you talking about?
E.J.: I'm talking about Stephanie. See, I have her.
Victor: So, how does it feel, Stefano, to be the pawn instead of the king? You know, it's going to be very interesting to find out which E.J. Finds more valuable -- your money or your life.
Stefano: [Chuckles] Keep talking, Victor, if it makes you feel better.
Victor: Well, either way, no consequence to me. I turn out Victorious either way.
Stefano: If you think that my son is going to play by your rules, you underestimate him, severely.
Victor: Very strong words for a man in your...position.
Stefano: If this were a game and I was, uh, a gambling man... I'd put everything I have on my son.
Owen: Stephanie, I didn't take you for the violent type.
Stephanie: I'm not usually.
Owen: Good, because neither am I.
Stephanie: Let go of me.
Owen: Don't you know that I'm your friend?
Stephanie: My friend?! Are you crazy?!
Owen: That's it. I know exactly what to do with you.
Stephanie: No, no, no, please.
Owen: Can't keep going on like this, can we?
Stephanie: Please, no! [Sobbing] Let me out!
Arianna: You're related to Sami Brady?
Brady: Yeah, she's my stepsister. Why, you know her?
Arianna: Yeah. Not a fan.
Rafe: I should do the right thing. I should make a proper commitment.
Stefano: Come on, son. I'm counting on you.
E.J.: I propose an exchange, a swap. I want my father here tonight.
