Stefano: What the hell? Oh, God. [Exhales sharply] Oh, my God. [Breathing heavily] Last night... I must have collapsed. But why? Why? Ow. [Exhales deeply] [Inhales deeply] I don't... whatever's going on here.

E.J.: Psst! [Chuckles] Good morning, Mrs. DiMera.

Nicole: Good morning. You know, I had this dream, and there was a wedding, and I married the most incredible, hunky guy. And then he took me home and he made love to me all night long.

E.J.: Well, I'm sorry I woke you up. That sounded like a pretty good dream.

Nicole: Oh, it was. I want it to last forever. [Chuckles]

E.J.: You know, I had a similar dream. I dreamt that I was the luckiest man on earth because I met this extraordinarily beautiful woman. And she became my wife. And we had the most...wonderful wedding night.

Nicole: Well...if you had that dream and I had a dream, maybe it wasn't a dream at all.

[Chuckles]

E.J.: I think it will always be a bit of a dream to me.

Sami: You don't think that I need you? Well, you're wrong, okay? You were wrong about everything. And...I just want you to promise me that no matter what I decide with E.J., You are not gonna leave Salem.

Rafe: Goodbye, Sami.

Rafe: You know, after everything that you have done

[Chuckles] That we have done to keep E.J. From knowing, I think that telling him now would be very, very dangerous.

Sami: Yeah, but that argument just means that telling him tomorrow is worse than telling him today, and next week is worse than tomorrow, and next year is just --

Rafe: Would you look at what kind of man he is? We're not telling him, okay?

Sami: This isn't our decision. It's mine.

Sami: What was I thinking? What if I never see him again?

Announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Victor: Bastard.

Brady: I'm sorry?

Victor: E.J. DiMera. It's not enough he tried to murder my son.

Brady: Granddad, we can't prove that he was behind what happened to me.

Victor: We will. You can be damn sure of that.

Brady: Either way...Philip is an awful lot worse than I am. Is there any change?

Victor: He's stable, which is as well as can be expected.

Brady: I still can't believe this happened.

Victor: Oh, what's not to believe? The man is utterly ruthless. This is just the beginning, Brady. That son of a bitch is gonna rue the day he ever tried to screw with my family.

Stefano: Oh, Harold, please. Get that out of here.

Harold: It's breakfast.

Stefano: Yes, I know, but I have no appetite. Please, take it away.

Harold: As you wish.

Stefano: Thank you. Oh, God. Shot... but not dead. That's a problem.

Mia: I will see my baby today. You can't stop me, Nicole.

E.J.: Where are you going?

Nicole: Let some light in this room.

E.J.: What?

Nicole: Guards. There's like 10 more of them out there. I feel like I'm in a war zone.

E.J.: Okay. Come here.

Nicole: What?

E.J.: No more complaints. Remember?

Nicole: Yes. I know it's for my protection, our protection. It's part of the territory, comes with it, whatever. Blah, blah, blah.

E.J.: Hey.

Nicole: What?

[Both chuckle] Sorry.

E.J.: I'm gonna go and check on our daughter, okay? Then I'm gonna have a shower. I thought you might like to join me.

Nicole: That sounds good.

E.J.: Yeah?

Nicole: Yeah.

E.J.: Okay.

Nicole: [Chuckles]

[Cellphone ringing] What do you want?

Mia: To see my baby now, and I'm not taking no for an answer.

E.J.: Good morning.

Stefano: Oh, Elvis.

E.J.: Are you, uh -- you sure you're all right?

Stefano: I'm okay. I'm okay. I just feel bad that you cannot go to the Caribbean on your honeymoon.

E.J.: Well, I think given the circumstances, it just makes better sense for us to stay around Salem.

Stefano: I think you're right. It's best that we do. As a family, we have to stay together, stay strong. [Sighs] They're coming after us, Elvis. We have to be ready.

Brady: Look, granddad, I understand your need for revenge, but I don't think --

Victor: My son almost died. Am I just supposed to take that in stride?

Brady: No, of course not.

Victor: This is my mess to clean up, which means from now on, DiMera will deal with me.

Brady: Well, that's great. You know, that's a brilliant idea. Why don't we just forget about the fact that we're dealing with a homicidal maniac who likes to kill for sport and torture people for fun? You go after him, granddad. That's bound to be a happy ending.

Victor: Don't you dare mock me.

Brady: I'm not mocking you. I'm trying to get you to see that this is insane. Nothing good is gonna come out of this. I want to get through to you because I love you. I happen to care about you, and I want you to be around for a little while.

Victor: You're in no position to tell me what to do.

Brady: See, that's where you're dead wrong.

Nicole: I don't care what you're doing. This is important. She just called me.

Dr. Baker: Mia?

Nicole: Well, if this whole doctor thing doesn't work out for you, you can become a detective. Yes -- Mia. She wants to see her baby.

Her baby.

Dr. Baker: Look, I really have to get going.

Nicole: Yeah, I'm sure you do. You have to get back to your pediatric practice. Whatever. Well, you enjoy that while you can, okay? Because if Mia slips up, we're both gonna take the fall. Unless, of course, you don't mind your little patients trekking out to the state penitentiary where they can get weighed in and measured.

Dr. Baker: [Laughs] Oh.

Nicole: Will you stop laughing?

Dr. Baker: Oh, come on, Nicole. Even you must see the humor in this. I mean, here you are so freaked about Mia wanting to see her baby. You don't even have her baby. Maybe we should turn her on to Sami Brady, huh?

Sami: Dad, look at her smile at you. She loves you. Look at that.

Roman: You know what, honey? I know that I didn't react well at first to you adopting Grace.

Sami: Dad, it's okay. I know you were being protective.

Roman: I was, and I'm glad you understand that, but in hindsight, I guess I could have been a little bit more supportive. But I do want to say this -- I am very proud of you for bringing that little girl into our lives.

Sami: Well, dad, I'm glad you feel that way. She's gonna need a father figure.

Roman: What does that mean?

Sami: Well, I don't have a man in my life.

Roman: So you and Rafe? I mean, I know you were just friends, but I thought maybe.

Sami: Yeah, I thought so, too, but I was wrong. He, um -- he moved on.

Roman: Well, that's too bad, honey.

Sami: I think so, too. But he's left Salem, so that ship has sailed, right?

Roman: Maybe not.

Stefano: It's all about vigilance now, Elvis.

E.J.: I know. Stay under the radar, keep a low profile. Father, I get it.

Stefano: Yes, but does your wife get it?

E.J.: She will, okay? Don't worry about this.

Stefano: Don't worry about it? Listen, you know, she can't come and go the way she always does.

E.J.: Obviously. Obviously.

Stefano: Especially with your daughter in tow.

E.J.: I get it. Look, I understand this, father, okay? Until this situation is resolved, I will talk to her and make it clear that if she wants to stay in the house, that's fine, but if she wants to go outside, then --

Nicole: No way in hell.

E.J.: Nicole.

Nicole: Unh-unh, I have been through this before. I'm not gonna be imprisoned in my house. No, not again.

E.J.: Just let me explain.

Nicole: No, E.J., I'm not gonna do this, okay? I'll go crazy if I am locked up in here. Sydney and I, we're gonna go out. We're going to the park.

E.J.: What I was about to say before you interrupted me...was that if you wish to leave the house, you're more than welcome to. You just need to take one of these guys with you. Nobody's suggesting that you get trapped her.

Nicole: What? I can't go anywhere unless one of those creepy thugs is with me?

E.J.: Sweetheart, this is -- this is for your safety. This is for Sydney's safety, okay? Don't you understand that?

Stefano: I'll arrange for security, all right? Excuse me.

Nicole: This is never gonna end, is it?

E.J.: Yes, this is going to end. But if you continue to be defiant, if you're gonna put your own personal freedoms ahead of the safety of this family, then it may not end well.

Brady: Look, I will never tell you what to do when it comes to business because I realize that would be insolent, but, granddad, this is your life we're talking about. I don't want to see you throw it away just to get back at the damn DiMera family.

Victor: What am I supposed to do? Forgive and forget? Turn the other cheek?

Brady: Yes, exactly. Just take the high road on this, you know? You know violence is gonna lead to more violence, and you know that revenge is juvenile. Come on, you can understand what I'm talking about here.

Victor: Are you done with your rant? Can I say something now? This is not a merger gone bad, Brady. My son was gunned down, almost bled to death.

Brady: But we don't know exactly who gunned him down, do we? So why don't we wait until Philip recovers and we can have him I.D. The shooter?

Victor: So that's your brilliant plan? Philip IDs the shooter and then what? We tie it up in court for the next 10 years?

Brady: I just don't want to see any more blood spilled. Do you?

Victor: Brady, you may be a brilliant businessman, but when it comes to the gray areas, take my advice -- stand down. Let me deal with the DiMeras with the appropriate action. It'll all be over soon.

Stefano: I don't care. I -- no, you will not let her manipulate you. Do you understand me? You will be by her s--

[Clears throat] Excuse me a moment.

[Exhales sharply] All right, now listen, you will never leave her side. Do you understand that? Have I made myself clear? Yes. Well [Chuckles] Do it as soon as possible. Right.

[Exhales sharply] What the hell is happening to me?

Sami: He hasn't left Salem?

Roman: He leaves for new York today.

Sami: He didn't return my call.

Roman: Well, honey, I don't know what's on the guy's mind. I'm just telling you, he leaves for new York today.

Sami: Dad, I need your help.

Roman: You need my help?

Sami: I want to talk to him before he leaves, and look, I know you're gonna say not to get all crazy and stand in his way, but...

Roman: But what?

Sami: But -- but I need to see him. I just don't want things to end between us the way that we left them. If there's anyway you could help me...

Roman: Maybe there is.

Roman: Okay. All right, thanks. 753. Got it. You too.

Sami: Well?

Roman: My contact confirms that Rafe did take a job in new York city, but apparently he is now being assigned to an overseas antiterror task force, so doesn't look like he will be coming home anytime soon.

Sami: So he's already left Salem. What was, um -- what was 753?

Roman: That's his flight number. I know he isn't gone yet, but his flight does leave today. Salem to new York -- JFK.

Sami: His flight leaves in two hours.

Roman: Well, then, you better get going, daughter.

Sami: Uh, will you watch Grace?

Roman: Of course I will.

Sami: Um, thank you. Dad, you are the best.

Roman: All right, now, I got to go to work later, so it's okay if grandma Caroline watches her.

Sami: Of course, yes, of course. Okay, so I have the diaper pack. She needs a nap. Um, um, diapers.

Roman: Check.

Sami: I have a bottle in there already.

Roman: Check, check, check.

Sami: What am I forgetting?

Roman: Honey, we are gonna be just fine. This is not my first rodeo.

Sami: Thank you, dad. Thank you so much. You're the best. Thank you. And, sweetheart, I love you. I'll see you later. Thanks, dad.

Roman: Good luck, honey.

Sami: Okay, I better not be too late.

Rafe: Got to let her go, Rafe. Let her go.

Victor: I'd rather die than let DiMera get away with what he's done.

Brady: So you keep saying.

Victor: I won't rest until his suffering is commensurate with the suffering he's caused us.

Brady: Grandfather, what are you -- what are you talking about? What kind of action are you planning?

Victor: I'm going to hit them where their heart is.

Nicole: [Speaks indistinctly] Oh, Mia. My goodness. What are you doing here? It's okay. She's a teen I work with.

Not too long.

Mia: Okay, Nicole, what --

Nicole: just play along, okay? I'm being watched.

We are being watched.

Mia: Watched?

Nicole: Bodyguard. I can't come and go as freely as I'd like to anymore, not since Tony's murder or Philip's shooting.

Mia: Yeah, okay, I get it. You've got an escort. Cool. Can I see her? Can I hold my baby now?

Nicole: Of course you can. But this is the last time. You made a promise to me and you crashed my wedding anyway, so all bets are off.

Mia: Fine. Whatever you say.

Nicole: I mean it, Mia. You can see the baby today and then that is it, okay? You have to swear to me and then you won't bother us again.

Mia: Yes. Fine. Just... please. Please let me hold her.

Nicole: Boo-boo. Okay, well...here you go. Careful. I know.

Mia: Hi there. Hi there. Something's not right.

Nicole: What do you mean "something's not right"?

Mia: I don't know. Sh-- she doesn't seem like my baby.

Victor: When the time comes, Brady, you'll know what you need to.

Brady: Right. And since this conversation is going nowhere, I'm gonna go in and see Philip. But, granddad, um, you know I don't approve of your tactics, but I'm here for you. Whatever you need.

Stefano: It's not true what they say. I miss him more... with each passing day.

E.J.: As do I.

Stefano: [Sighs]

Marco: Roman Brady is at the front gate.

Stefano: Ah, yes, my old friend. Invite him in. Look, Elvis, why don't you go upstairs? I'll handle this.

E.J.: We'll see him together. We're in this together.

Nicole: So, what do you mean she doesn't seem like your baby?

Mia: I don't know. I guess this just isn't what I expected.

Nicole: Well, honey, I mean, Sydney's not your baby anymore. Come here, honey. Mommy's right here. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I know you love that.

Mia: It's just so weird. This other baby --

Nicole: What other baby?

Mia: I sat for this other little girl once, and...I felt more connected to her than I do my own baby.

Nicole: Well, that's great. I mean, maybe that's a sign. Maybe you'll forget about Sydney and move on with your own life.

E.J.: Roman. Is there a reason you stopped by?

Roman: Victor Kiriakis thinks you ordered the hit on Philip, Stefano.

E.J.: Are you charging my father with a crime?

Roman: Not yet.

E.J.: Be sure to let us know when you do. You'll understand that whatever victor Kiriakis thinks is not only irrelevant, but is of no interest to us whatsoever.

Roman: Well, something tells me you'll be a little bit more cooperative soon.

E.J.: Well, until then.

Roman: Until then, don't leave town.

Stefano: I built this town. I have no plans to leave it.

Roman: Of course you did.

Stefano: Ciao, roman.

Mia: Maybe if you let me hold her again --

Nicole: No, no. You had your chance.

[Cellphone rings] Hey.

E.J.: Finally. I've been trying to call you.

Nicole: Well, I guess my phone was on vibrate, honey. I didn't really feel it.

E.J.: It's okay. Where are you?

Nicole: I'm taking a stroll on the pier. It's a beautiful day.

E.J.: Well, do you know when you're coming back?

Nicole: Actually, I'm leaving right now, so I will see you soon.

E.J.: Okay, I'll be waiting.

Nicole: Okay, see you in a bit. Love you. Uh, look, I really got to go, but, um, you know, maybe seeing Sydney made it easier and you've gotten it out of your system.

Mia: Yeah. I guess.

Nicole: Great. Well, I guess I won't be seeing you anymore, will I?

Mia: Ow.

Nicole: Sydney is napping, and, uh, Mary is gonna stay in the nursery with her.

E.J.: Good. Are you ready for our walk?

Nicole: As long as the bodyguards are ready, sure.

Stefano: They're waiting outside.

E.J.: Father, are you all right? I mean, you look a little bit pale.

Stefano: I've been fighting a little bug, I think. Nothing serious.

E.J.: Are you sure? I mean, you don't want to lie down?

Stefano: Oh, no, no, no. I'm fine. Listen, you two have a lovely walk. I think I will run a few errands and, uh, treat myself to a little macchiato. Ciao.

E.J.: All right, then, shall we?

Nicole: Yeah, sure.

E.J.: Well, don't get too excited about it.

Nicole: It's a walk, E.J. How excited should I be?

E.J.: Look...I know that you're disappointed that you're not in the Caribbean having a honeymoon.

Nicole: No, no, no. I told you I'm fine with postponing the honeymoon. It's just...

E.J.: Come on. What? Tell me.

Nicole: You know, if something's wrong, E.J., I wish you would tell me. And not only are we husband and wife, but we're partners and not just when it comes to Sydney, but with everything.

E.J.: Sweetheart, this -- this business with the Kiriakis family, it's nothing that concerns you.

Nicole: Really? Okay. And the bodyguards -- that's not a big red flag, is it? I mean, of course, you're paying them, so why shouldn't they follow me and Sydney around Salem and keep us company? Of course.

E.J.: All right, well, how about you just look at it that way, okay?

Nicole: I could...if I were an idiot.

E.J.: I'm sorry. Come here. I love you.

Nicole: I know.

Rafe: Not only am I protecting a child, but someone that I've grown to, uh, care about.

Sami: Thanks. You have no idea how much that means to me.

Rafe: Okay.

Sami: Aah!

[Breathing heavily]

Dr. Baker: Sorry to keep you waiting.

Mia: Dr. Baker, I-I didn't know you --

Dr. Baker: I'm new here. We're also short-staffed.

Mia: Wow.

Dr. Baker: So...what's the matter with your arm?

Mia: Oh, I, uh -- I ran into something at the pier and it was kind of sharp.

Dr. Baker: Okay, well, I'm glad you came here. Let's take a look at it.

Mia: Is it bad?

Dr. Baker: You'll live. Here, you hold this. Let me clean that up, okay? This is gonna sting just a little bit, okay? I'm sorry.

Mia: It's okay. Compared to what I was feeling before, this is nothing.

Victor: Philip's a lot stronger today.

Brady: Yeah, he's got some color back, too. You're not gonna tell me, are you?

Victor: Tell you what?

Brady: Come on, granddad. You know what I'm talking about. Your big plans for the DiMeras.

Victor: You're better off not knowing.

Brady: I respectfully disagree.

Victor: Just know this -- it's going to hit Stefano right between the eyes and when he least expects it.

Stefano: Wait here.

Jackie: Mr. DiMera.

Stefano: Ah, Jackie.

[Chuckles] My favorite barista. Good to have you back.

Jackie: Good to be back. The usual?

Stefano: Oh, very good. Yes, I would love that. Thank you. Um, you know, yesterday, there was another girl here. I don't know. What happened to her?

Jackie: Malina? Guess it didn't work out.

Stefano: Malina. Greek?

Jackie: I think so.

Brady: Nicole, hey.

Nicole: It's -- it's okay. It's okay. He's a friend. Do you mind?

Brady: Whoa. You got your own security detail, huh?

Nicole: Um, what happened to you?

Brady: Oh, no, it's a minor scuffle. No big deal. You should see the other guy.

Nicole: Are you okay?

Brady: Yeah, yeah, it looks a lot worse than it feels. I think I'll live. So, how are you? How are -- how are things with you?

Nicole: Look, Brady, I'm glad we ran into each other. I, uh -- I wanted to thank you.

Brady: What for?

Nicole: Not ruining my wedding.

Brady: Well, you know what, Nicole? I-I watched you walk down the aisle, and I, uh -- I realized that you were exactly where you needed to be. Anyway, I just came out to make a call, so...

Nicole: Right.

Brady: So I'll see you soon, huh?

Nicole: Well, look at that. We both have bodyguards. Who'd have thunk?

Victor: Well, don't run off, Mrs. DiMera. After all, we have a lot of catching up to do.

Brady: Yeah, no, that sounds good. It shouldn't take too long. All right, all right. I will -- I'll keep in touch. Thanks.

Dr. Baker: You were feeling worse before?

Mia: Yeah, I just meant the sting, when you were cleaning my wound. It doesn't hurt at all compared to how bad I've been feeling, you know, mentally.

Dr. Baker: You want to talk about it?

Mia: I wouldn't know where to begin.

Dr. Baker: Well, I assume it's got something to do with your baby.

Mia: I got to hold her today. But...something wasn't right. I-I didn't feel anything. It's like she wasn't even mine. Why are you looking at me like that?

Dr. Baker: Because I'm impressed with your instincts.

Mia: My instincts?

Dr. Baker: [Sighs] There's a reason the baby didn't feel like yours, and I think it's time you know exactly what it is.

Victor: I must say, Nicole, you have exemplary taste in men. First Trent Robbins and now E.J. DiMera.

Nicole: Let's not forget about you, oh, light of my life.

Victor: Oh, please. I'm not even in the same league.

Nicole: No. You know, E.J. Is a great man and a wonderful father.

Victor: Oh, and apparently a very competent magician. He certainly has you fooled. Of course that's not much of an accomplishment, is it?

Nicole: E.J. Is more man than you ever were or could ever hope to be, victor.

Victor: Indeed. Not only did his family try to have my son killed, but they beat up your pal Brady on your wedding day. I mean, class act. Oh, they didn't let you in on that, did they? Kept you in the dark, did they? Well, get used to it, Nicole. It's going to get darker and darker.

Brady: You two-faced son of a bitch.

E.J.: Okay, let's not cause a scene, shall we?

Brady: Too much of a coward to face me on your own, is that it?

E.J.: You know, if I saw something that was worth my time --

Brady: You bastard. You know what? Forget your men. You're gonna be dealing with me now, and you are gonna pay for what you did to me and for what you did to Philip.

Stefano: Ahh.

Victor: This isn't over. This is just the beginning.

Stefano: Right, victor.

Stefano: Ah.

Stefano: My God. They poisoned me.

Sami: [Breathless] Oh, good. Your flight. I was running. I would just --

Rafe: Sami.

Sami: Yeah. Sorry, I was running 'cause I didn't want to miss your -- your plane.

Rafe: Hasn't boarded yet.

Sami: Right. Obviously.

[Clears throat]

Rafe: Catch your breath.

Sami: Better.

Rafe: You want to sit?

Sami: No, no. No, I'm good.

Rafe: What are y-- what are you doing here?

Sami: Will -- he told me that you dropped off the St. Anne's medal, that you brought it to me.

Rafe: Yeah. Well, I know how much it means to you.

Sami: Yeah, it does. And... and then there's you. I just want... look, Rafe, I just want you to know what you mean to me before it's too late.

Brady: You don't want to know that person who was holding your daughter has so much blood on his hands.

Lexie: Do you know what you were poisoned with?

Stefano: No, but I know who did it.

Victor: Please, don't worry about Philip. Worry about your father.

Rafe: No matter what you say, it's not gonna change anything. I'm still leaving.
