Stefano: Ah, I ordered the car to come around in 15 minutes.
Stefano: You care to have a drink? You might need one.
E.J.: Yeah. Right again, I think. [Sighs] Father, it has to look like we're going to a wedding.
Stefano: Don't worry... [Clears throat] ...'Cause when the time comes, I will be the proud father of the groom, take a lot of pictures, and finally salute the newlyweds. But first... we'll add a little to this. [Inhales deeply] To Antony.
E.J.: To Antony.
E.J.: Something funny?
Stefano: Ah, I was just thinking that...you're getting married, but also, I'll never forget that it was the day that Philip Kiriakis paid in full.
Philip: Hi, Mr. Harken... wow. I wish all my clients dressed like that.
Stephanie: Come on in, Mr. Kiriakis. Now, this meeting is strictly business, you understand?
Stephanie: Mm-hmm, because I realize that business is the only thing that gets your attention.
Philip: I don't know. You definitely got my attention, but I don't know how much business I'll be doing.
Stephanie: Maybe I should put on something in pinstripes.
Philip: No. No, no, no. I like you just the way you are.
Stephanie: Good. I'm assuming Howard was pretty convincing about Mr. Harken.
Philip: I am gonna bust his chops.
Stephanie: No, you're not. You're gonna thank him. Because he also promised that he wasn't gonna let any phone calls go through, no matter what. But just in case...
Philip: Oh, you want my phone?
Stephanie: Mm-hmm. Thank you. Sure you can handle life without a line to the outside?
Philip: I'll see what I can do.
Dr. Carver, how do I put this nicely? Get the hell out of here.
Lexie: You know, you can't talk to me that way. I'm a very important doctor.
Who's working way too hard. Go home. Get some sleep.
Lexie: [Sighs] I can't. After I finish up here, I have to go read some scripture at my brother's wedding. See you later.
Dr. Baker: My, my. I guess my invitation got lost in the mail.
Nicole: Well, pretty girl... pretty soon your daddy's gonna make an honest woman out of me. Yes.
Nicole: [Laughing] Yeah. Oh yeah, you're right. You can't exactly call me an honest woman, huh? But, honey, things are gonna change. I'm gonna be a wonderful wife and a wonderful mother, and you, little lady, are gonna be the happiest little girl in the whole, wide world. [Gasps playfully] That's right. I promise. I promise. You're so perfect. [Smooches] Oops. Sorry about that, baby. [Sighs]
Sami: Hey, Rafe, it's, um -- it's Sami. I was just thinking about you, and I wanted to call and say hi. Grace misses you. She heard me say your name, and she's trying to talk to you. Um, she gets a big smile on her face every time I say your name. Um, so I hope you're taking care of yourself, and -- and give me a call if you can. Okay. Bye. You miss your Godfather, don't you, sweetheart? I know you do. I miss him, too. The truth is, I -- I'm doing the right thing. I know I am... 'cause I have a sick feeling in my stomach, and my hands are shaking. But it's what's best for everyone. Certainly what's best for you, 'cause you're gonna get to know your daddy. The truth's gonna come out eventually, right? Better now. Okay. God. I can do this. Hope your daddy's ready. He's gonna get the surprise of a lifetime.
Chloe: Hey, Nicole. It's getting late. You need to finish getting ready.
Nicole: I know. It's just kind of nice being here alone with Sydney. [Sighs] For the last week, I haven't got a whole lot of peace and quiet, you know?
Chloe: Yeah, but I'm worried that E.J.'s gonna see you before the ceremony.
Nicole: Yeah, we wouldn't want any bad luck, huh? [Chuckles]
Chloe: Come on. Let's go. Come on.
Chloe: Hey, you know what? Just think about it. By the end of this day, you and I are gonna be just a couple of old, married ladies.
Chloe: Uh, it was a joke.
Nicole: No, I, uh -- I think I left my grandmother's pearls in the car.
Chloe: Okay, well, I'll just get them. Give me the keys.
Nicole: Okay. Um, I -- I think it's unlocked.
Chloe: Wow, you are nervous. Calm down. It's okay. I will get the pearls. I will lock the car, and I will meet you in the bride's room, okay? Don't let anyone see you.
Chloe: Brady. What are you doing here?
Brady: Where is Nicole? I got to talk to her.
Chloe: I don't think that's such a good idea.
Nicole: I understand that you have issues with me. But I promise -- I really do... if you take care of E.J. and Sydney... [Sighing] Oh, I... I really just want to be a good mother to her -- a mother she deserves. And I want to be a good wife to E.J. and, um...I realize that I've -- I've screwed up. The whole reason I'm doing this is that I just really need your help. Thank you. That's really not funny. What the hell are you doing here?
Dr. Baker: I don't think you're supposed to use language like that in a church.
Nicole: Get out now.
Dr. Baker: Nicole, do you really expect me to stay away on your big day?
Max: Hey, Lexie. So, your order's just gonna take a minute, all right?
Lexie: Okay, thanks, Max.
Max: Look... I didn't know whether to say anything about Tony when you came in earlier, and I should have. You know, I -- I know it can be kind of rough.
Lexie: Yeah. Yeah. I was, uh -- I was with him when he died, and, um... [Chuckles] Here I am, grabbing a sandwich to go so I can get to E.J. and Nicole's wedding on time, you know? They couldn't wait. Like losing Tony doesn't even matter.
Max: Well, do you have to go? I mean...
Lexie: [Sighs] Yeah, yeah. Um, E.J. wants me to read some scripture at the wedding, so... yeah.
Max: Well, I -- I hope the wedding, you know, doesn't make you too sad. I mean, it's nice of you to do this for your brother and all, but... I'm gonna -- I'm just gonna check on your order and stuff, all right?
Lexie: But, Max... thank you. Thank you. I...I can see why Theo likes you so much.
Max: [Chuckles] Yeah, he's a good little guy.
Brady: I didn't ask you if you thought it was a good idea. I asked you if you knew where Nicole was.
Chloe: Getting ready to marry E.J., who will be here any minute, and I don't think he'll be too happy to see you.
Brady: [Chuckling] I can't tell you how much I don't care.
Chloe: Brady...I'm Nicole's friend, and I thought you were, too.
Brady: I am.
Chloe: Then leave her alone. She told me that you talked to her earlier, and it really upset her. Don't do that to her again.
Brady: Hey, did it ever occur to you that I wouldn't even be able to upset her if this was what she really wanted to do?
Chloe: You know what I'm sick of? Men who just know better -- who know what women want better than they do.
Brady: Whoa. Where is this coming from?
Chloe: From me, telling you to turn around and go home right now.
Dr. Baker: You know, Nicole, I'm a little bit hurt by your attitude. I mean, I would like to think that I had a lot to do with making this day happen.
Nicole: Oh, please.
Dr. Baker: You know, I've dedicated my whole life to putting healthy babies with happy families. Are you going to deny me the celebration of my life's work?
Nicole: What do you want? Whatever it is, one way or another, you have to get out of here before E.J. gets here.
E.J.: This is turning out to be one hell of a bachelor party, eh?
Stefano: You disapprove?
E.J.: No. I was just...thinking.
E.J.: How lucky I am, Father. I'm always overwhelmed by the depth of your feeling.
Stefano: You know the way you love Giovanni and Sydney? You wait. You just wait. It grows, it grows. You get to love your children more than you love your own life.
E.J.: That's how much... Victor loves Philip, Father.
Stefano: I know. And that's why this is being done.
Philip: [Sighs] Isn't it nice to be alone?
Stephanie: Mm-hmm. No one in the world has a clue where we are.
Sami: Max, hey.
Max: Hey, Sami, what's --
Sami: Oh, I need your help. I'm so glad you're here. I just got a flat tire, and I need you to...blow it up? Blow it out? Change -- whatever, whatever.
Max: Okay, yeah, I can do that. I just got to wait for somebody to cover for me, though.
Sami: Oh, but you don't understand. E.J.'s getting married, and I have to get there in time.
Max: Sami, it's not like he's marrying you. I mean...
Sami: Max, it's an emergency.
Stephanie: Something wrong?
Philip: Not at all. I just can't believe how happy I am right now.
Philip: And it's not just that we're alone. We don't have any obligations. We have time. [Chuckles]
Stephanie: Philip, we have all the time in the world.
Philip: Yes, we do.
Stefano: [Sighs] The car is here.
E.J.: She's gonna know, Father. Maybe it would just be better just to tell her.
Stefano: No, no, no. It is better for Nicole if she realizes this is a fait accompli, huh? Because one way or the other, she has to realize that she has no say in the family business.
E.J.: Yeah, but it's gonna tell her what kind of family she's marrying into.
Stefano: Well, she's not naive, all right? She's not squeamish. And if she gets upset, then you just point out to her, very gently, of course, that she is the only person that could have saved Philip's life, and she chose not to.
Stefano: No, hey, if the Justice Department had punished him -- all right? -- I might have accepted that as payment for what he did. But, oh, no, no, no. He walked away scot-free. And that is why his fate was sealed.
E.J.: We're back to this -- that this was her fault.
Stefano: Who knows, Elvis? Maybe this is a learning experience for Nicole, all right? How did you put it? “Drive home how this family operates,” hmm? But now it's time for you to make her a real member of this family, in the eyes of God.
E.J.: Yeah. God help all of us.
Dr. Baker: You know your wedding -- snagging that rich dude to marry? You know how important that was to you? Well, my job -- my status at the hospital is important to me. I did not appreciate you replacing me as Sydney's pediatrician. It did not reflect well or enhance my status at the hospital.
Nicole: So, I hurt your feelings and you're gonna crash my wedding?
Dr. Baker: I'm afraid with you, Nicole, it's “out of sight, out of mind.” So, I am here...to remind you that you do not want to get on my bad side.
Nicole: Okay, okay, fine. I see your point. Look, you just go away, and I won't treat you like you're a horrible, disgusting man. I'll pretend that you're actually human.
Dr. Baker: Hey, you know what? Um, why don't I bring a guest? How about Mia?
Nicole: Don't you dare.
Dr. Baker: [Chuckles] Okay, I'll go stag. I'll be nice, and I won't rain on your parade. But, Nicole...do me a favor. Don't ever, ever talk to me like that again.
Nicole: Fine. Look, I need to go and get dressed, but E.J. is gonna wonder why you're here.
Dr. Baker: Well, I'm here because even though I'm no longer Sydney's doctor, we're still very, very close, you and I, and nothing is going to change that.
Chloe: Brady, you need to listen to me.
Brady: This is not your call.
Chloe: Fine. I will tell her that you're here, okay? But if she doesn't want to talk to you, then you need to turn around and go home.
Brady: No. No!
Chloe: Listen, if you barge in there right now the way that you are, you will not have a chance. If you even want to have a shot at this, then you need to have her agree to see you.
Brady: Okay, fine.
Chloe: Oh, and, Brady? "The Graduate?" Elaine running away from her wedding to be with Ben. It was just a movie.
Mia: You lied to me about everything.
Nicole: Mia, please.
Mia: I mean, did you seriously think you were gonna get away with all of this?
Max: Why do you need to get to E.J.'s wedding?
Sami: Oh, you know what? Stop asking questions and start changing tires.
Max: Arianna's not here yet.
Sami: Well, I'll help out. I'll stand behind the bar and do whatever, and you can go fix the tire, all right?
Max: All right, fine. Fine. Just give me the keys.
Sami: Thank you so much, and I'm sorry for snapping at you. I'm just in a hurry.
Max: Yeah, I got that.
Sami: Thank you!
Sami: [Sighs] Grace, this is not going well. We should be there by now.
Stefano: [Sighs] So, sweetheart, it's too bad Abraham could not make it.
Lexie: Oh, well, he just didn't think it was a good idea to have the Mayor of Salem be seen at a DiMera's wedding.
Stefano: So much for bipartisanship.
Lexie: Look at you. You look so handsome.
Stefano: Doesn't he, huh?
Lexie: Nicole's a lucky, lucky lady. [Laughs]
E.J.: I'm so glad you could be here.
Lexie: Yes, yes. Listen, I'm on call, so if I have to slip out, don't be alarmed, okay?
Fr. Matt: Oh, good. You're here.
Fr. Matt: It's almost time to take your places.
Stefano: Good to see you, Father. Yes. So, we see you in a minute, huh?
E.J.: Oh, yeah. I'm just gonna...collect my thoughts.
Stefano: [Laughs] Nerves.
Stefano: I remember the day I got married. Talk about nerves! Ho-ho!
E.J.: [Exhales deeply]
[Cellphone rings] Yes.
Masi: Don't turn off the phone.
E.J.: I'm going into the church.
Masi: The boy is not here. The house is empty.
Masi: Where would he have gone?
Philip: Are you sure?
Stephanie: More than I've ever been.
Singer: Oh. You got me past crazy all I think about is you so come on, baby, take me do just what you want to do it's more than a fever it's way past, way past extreme what you do to me baby, I can't stop, can't stop not when it gets this hot, hot baby, I can't stop, can't stop not when it gets this hot, hot, hot this love is on fire ooh, yeah ahh.
[Pachelbel's "Canon in D" plays]
E.J.: You're not on the guest list. I'd like you to leave, please.
Brady: What are you gonna do -- throw me out?
E.J.: If I have to.
Chloe: Hey, there you are. I've been looking for you.
Nicole: Did you get the pearls?
Chloe: Yeah, right here.
Nicole: Oh, great. Thank you.
Chloe: Uh, Brady's here.
Chloe: Yeah, he wants to talk to you.
Nicole: Oh, my... if he's here when E.J. gets here, E.J.'s gonna go crazy.
Chloe: Sorry, honey. E.J.'s already here. I saw his limo out front.
Nicole: Oh, God, no, no. I mean, who else is gonna show up to my wedding? Sami, Victor? How about Vladimir Putin? Hmm, that would be great. Dick Cheney, Michael Vick. Oh, who else is gonna show up that I really, really don't want in my wedding?
Chloe: Calm down.
Nicole: Oh, I can't believe this is happening.
Chloe: Nicole, knock it off, damn it, okay? You're about 5 minutes from getting everything that you want. Don't go nutso on me now.
Nicole: You're right. You're right. Brady would never ruin my wedding.
Chloe: How could he?
E.J.: The, uh, gentleman over there needs to be attended to.
Stefano: Nicole is gonna be upset.
E.J.: Okay, listen, don't do anything to disrupt the wedding. Okay? Just keep an eye on him. Make sure he doesn't do anything. When he leaves, let him know it was a mistake to come here.
Stefano: Did Masi call?
E.J.: Yeah, Philip's not home.
Stefano: Oh, that's a pity. I was hoping that Victor Kiriakis would have that experience.
E.J.: I'm more concerned the timing of this whole thing is off.
Stefano: All right, listen to me. Give Masi this number.
E.J.: Give this number to the person who answers this phone. When everything is done, you destroy that, okay?
Stefano: Okay, come on. Now, listen to me, yeah? [Sighs] I want you to forget all about business, and now you -- no, no, no, no. Just concentrate on Nicole, okay?
Stefano: Go on.
Chloe: You look beautiful.
Nicole: Well, I haven't heard any eruptions in there yet.
Chloe: And there won't be any, okay?
Chloe: Oh, there's my cue. Okay, I'll see you at the altar.
Nicole: Okay. Good luck. [Chuckles] [Sighs] Well, you've made it this far. Now it's damn the torpedoes, and full speed ahead. [Sighs]
Sami: Oh, hey, Max.
Max: That's what did you in right there.
Sami: So you got the spare on?
Max: Uh, Sami, the spare's flat, too.
Sami: Well, what good does that do?
Max: Nothing. I mean, it doesn't do any good.
Sami: Can I borrow your car?
Max: Chelsea's got my car.
Sami: What about grandma's?
Max: She's at jury duty.
Sami: Oh, God. Oh, God. I'm gonna have to walk. Okay, you watch her for a second, okay?
Max: Wait, wait, wait.
Sami: I just have to get the stroller. Two minutes, Max. Relax. Thank you.
Sami: Ooh! Ow! Jerk!
Max: It's my prediction you're not gonna have a boring life. Are you okay, sweetie? You don't feel good, do you?
[Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" plays]
E.J.: Are you ready?
Nicole: Absolutely. Grow in the most unlikely places. For this couple - cupid's arrow hit while they were on the badminton court. But first - they had to travel half way around the world to find each other. We'll have their story - tonight at six - only on the news hour. . . .
Fr. Matt: It wasn't too long ago that we welcomed that young lady over there into our church. And now we're uniting her parents in the sacrament of holy marriage. This is a joyous, blessed celebration, even though the sequence leaves something to be desired. But no matter. We are uniting Elvis and Nicole. Nicole, I think the holy mother is smiling at you now. She knows what you have done to bring this new family into being. So, please join with me in prayer as we ask Mary to bless Elvis, Nicole, and their beautiful young daughter. Hail Mary, full of Grace...
All: The Lord be with you. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus... holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and in the hour of our death. Amen.
Brady: I meant what I said, Nicole. Good luck. You are gonna need it.
Masi: [Speaking Italian] No, it's not gonna be a problem. A little public, perhaps. [Speaking Italian]
[Beeps] Yeah. Our subject is at the Salem Ambassador Hotel, 1812 West Main.
Masi: Good job.
Grazie. So, as you Americans say, you're gonna go out with a bang.
Stephanie: [Sighs] I feel like we're the only two people in the world.
Philip: I wish that we were.
Stephanie: Yeah, right. You'd get sick of me.
Philip: In about a couple of hundred years.
Stephanie: Nice save. You know all those fights that we had?
Philip: We didn't get in any fights.
Philip: I'd act like a jerk, you'd tell me I was acting like a jerk. That's not a fight, technically.
Stephanie: Well, I surely thought they were fights. Anyway, what I was gonna say is I'm glad they happened.
Philip: Oh, really?
Philip: 'Cause I was sincerely hoping they were a thing of the past.
Stephanie: No, I mean, like, I'm glad they happened because we faced our issues, and we didn't pretend like everything was perfect.
Philip: Yeah, it's hard to pretend everything's perfect when you're disinherited and facing murder charges.
Stephanie: But you got through all that, and now... [Sighs] Oh. See... the reason I acted the way I did was because I was really scared you were gonna hurt me. But now I know I can really trust you.
Philip: So, Steph...
Philip: ...Sincerity... I'm not really comfortable with it, but... I'm gonna try to be the guy you can trust. [Chuckles]
Stephanie: I have a present for you.
Stephanie: Mm-hmm. For saying that beautiful thing just now, you don't have to be serious anymore.
Philip: Thank you. Thank you.
Stephanie: In fact, I'm not feeling serious at all. I'm just surprised at how much fun that was.
Philip: Well, there's a reason it's so popular.
Sami: You're not gonna believe this. Salem's finest gives me a parking ticket. I was like, “do you not see the flat tire?” And it's not like that car is going anywhere now.
Max: Sami, you need to --
Sami: And then I was thinking I'd ask my dad. I mean, how many times have we been through that? And he's not gonna help us. He's gonna just give us a lecture about how --
Max: Sami, she's sick.
Max: Feel her head. She feels like she's got a fever.
Sami: Oh, Max, stop it. She's not -- she's just a little warm.
Max: You're gonna have to talk to E.J. later, okay? I think you should take her to a doctor.
Fr. Matt: So, I think the part of Paul's letters to the Ephesians that we should concentrate on is “be subject to one another under Christ.” This does not mean that Nicole must obey E.J. or that E.J. is the boss. What it means is we should check our egos at the door. Paul's also the one who said, “the greatest of all these is love.” This love is a powerful weapon against those parts of human nature that would pull us apart. Let God and that beautiful child over there pull you to higher ground. Choose love over hate, joy over sorrow, life over death.
Sami: Aw, sweetheart, you don't have a fever, do you? No, you're okay. Yeah, you're okay, sweetheart.
Sami: She's fine.
Max: She has a fever.
Sami: She doesn't have a fever. She's a little bit warm. That happens with babies. She's okay. Anyway, I've got to get you in your stroller.
Max: Okay, fine. You go, and then I'll take her.
Max: I'll take her to a doctor.
Sami: Max, she's okay. She's fine. There's nothing wrong with my daughter. We have a mission to accomplish.
Fr. Matt: Dear God, please hear our prayers for Elvis and Nicole, who have come here to be united in holy matrimony. Like all couples, they've had their ups and downs on the path to this happy day.
E.J.: I don't like Brady at all. One of the reasons is he's always hovering around like some annoying gnat in my living room. But the main reason is -- business. I don't wish to have any contact with him.
Nicole: Yes, I won't see him anymore.
Fr. Matt: Please help them to increase their faith in you, our Lord, and in each other. Guide them to deal with each other with love, compassion, and honesty.
Nicole: Please, Dr. Baker, don't make this any harder for me than it already is. Let me take...Sami's baby, and you can have Mia's.
Fr. Matt: Ready for more?
Nicole: Yes, I am. [Sniffles]
Fr. Matt: Dear God, through this couple...
E.J.: You okay?
Nicole: Thank you.
Fr. Matt: Dear God, through this couple, this family, we ask that you bless them and bless your church. We ask you through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who, with you and the Holy Spirit, lives for ever and ever. Amen.
Max: Sami, I really think you should --
Sami: Stop it, Max. She's fine. I'm her mother. I would know if something's wrong. She's not even crying.
Max: Sami, what's going on with you, huh?
Sami: Are you really thinking that I'm the kind of person who would do something like that to my own daughter?
Max: No, no. You're a great mother.
Sami: I am doing what's best for her, and that means taking her to E.J. right now. Thank you for your help, Max.
Fr. Matt: And now, will you bow your heads with me and reflect as the ringers ring a change that has been celebrating marriages for hundreds of years, and today celebrates Elvis and Nicole.
[Church bells ringing]
Fr. Matt: Now.
Stephanie: I love you.
Philip: I love you.
Stephanie: Just... promise me you'll never leave me again.
Philip: Hey... I'm never gonna leave you, Stephanie. Not ever.
Sami: [Sighs] No. We're too late. [Sighs]
Fr. Matt: Wasn't that beautiful?
Nicole: Yes. Beautiful.
Fr. Matt: And now I'm required to ask the question that I hope is only rhetorical. If there are any here present who know of any just cause why these two may not lawfully be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace. And now moving on...
Mia: I would like to.
Fr. Matt: Yes, dear? What is it you'd like to say?
Sami: Oh, my God.
Max: Brady, what the hell happened to you?
E.J.: Who is she? Why are you interrupting my wedding?
Stephanie: Did you hear that?
Philip: Is somebody there?
