Mia: I can't believe you. You pretend you're my friend, like you care. Now you're threatening me.

Nicole: It's not a threat, Mia. It's a promise.

Mia: A promise? What does that mean?

Nicole: You need to think this through. Because if the truth does come out about you and Sydney, she could be put in foster care...

Mia: Stop saying that.

Nicole: ...Or be given to someone else.

Mia: No.

Nicole: Is that what you want?

Mia: Of course it's not, and it's not gonna happen because I won't let it.

Nicole: Words are cheap.

Mia: All I care about is my baby. Do you hear me? And if coming forward is the best thing for her, then that's what I'm going to do. I'll take that risk.

Rafe: What do we have here?

Sami: Uh... what's -- uh, nothing.

Rafe: St. Anne's medallion?

Sami: Yeah, uh, it's mine.

Sami: I know one thing. I know I don't want you to go.

Rafe: I'm not making this decision based on what you want. I'm gonna do what I think is best... for me and for you... and for Grace.

Will: Hey, what's up?

Rafe: Will, is your mom here? I have something for her.

Bo: So, you're telling me our informant just disappeared.

Chatsworth: We went to his apartment, but it was empty -- closets raided.

Bo: Ah. So we're back to square one. You know what? Head on over to the station, find out if there's any more information on the location of the stakeout and get back to me.

Chatsworth: Yes, commissioner.

Bo: Damn it, Hope. Where are you?

Roman: Any signal yet?

Hope: Nothing. Something's jammed. It shut down every communication channel we've got.

Roman: What about your cell?

Hope: Still no good.

[Doorknob rattles]

Nicole: Mia, I understand you want to do what you think is best for your baby.

Mia: And I will. I'm not afraid.

Nicole: And I admire that... selflessness. I only hope...

Mia: What? Say it.

Nicole: Mia, you know, when I was your age, I always wanted to make these big decisions. And I had a difficult childhood, already enduring a lifetime of pain and humiliation. No one was gonna mess with me. I was as tough as nails. At least, that's how I like to think of myself.

Mia: So? What's that got to do with me?

Nicole: You remind me of myself. Not only was I tough... but I was emotional, impulsive. And, like you, I made some pretty huge mistakes.

Mia: What is your point, Nicole?

Nicole: These mistakes -- I learned some pretty valuable lessons -- how to survive, how to deal. And, Mia, look at -- look at what I have now. I have E.J. I-I have Sydney, a wonderful, comfortable life. I have everything I ever wanted. Because I pulled myself up. I put my past behind me. You have your whole life ahead of you. And if you confess, you're gonna ruin your life. Don't do that. Somewhere out there... there is a career for you... a wonderful guy, a great life. And you have all the time in the world to have more children. Take it from someone who's made her fair share of mistakes. Don't make this one.

[Doorknob rattling]

[Gun cocks]

Mia: You're right... about everything. I know that. I just...

Nicole: What?

Mia: I'm sorry... for what you've been through, for what I've gone through, for what Sydney has already been put through. [Sighs] Although, I guess she doesn't really know that right now.

Nicole: No. She knows that she's loved and protected. That's all that matters to her.

Mia: What you're saying -- it makes sense. It really does. But my mom used to tell me some stuff you have to do on instinct... not because you think it's right, but because it feels right. My instinct is telling me to get my baby, so... that's what I'm gonna do.

Arianna: The espresso machine is clean.

Max: Excellent.

Arianna: Oh, and, uh, we're out of the really hot, hot sauce.

Max: Oh, you mean the lawsuit sauce.

Arianna: Is that the one? Yeah.

Max: Yeah, it's a secret recipe -- been in my family for years. I could tell you what's in it, but then, you know, you'd have to leave the state.

Arianna: Is that right?

Max: Yeah. Just the state, though, not the whole country.

Arianna: [Laughs]

Max: So, how are things? How are you settling in?

Arianna: So far so good. I'm really enjoying the job.

Max: Good. Good.

Arianna: Anything else you want me to do?

Melanie: Yeah, you can start by taking my order. I'm starving! Hi, bro.

Will: My mom's not here.

Rafe: Okay. Any idea where she is?

Will: She said she had to go run errands or something, see a friend. I thought that friend was you.

Rafe: Nope.

Will: Guess not.

Rafe: Yeah, anyway, I just came by to, uh -- to drop this off, and then I'll be out of your way.

Will: Dude, you're not in anyone's way. Come in if you want.

Rafe: No, no, it's cool. I just, um -- I just wanted to, uh, give this to you. And then hopefully you can give it to her when she gets back.

Will: Yeah. Yeah, sure. No problem.

Rafe: All right. All right, will. Well, uh, take care.

Will: See you soon.

Rafe: Right.

Will: Or...not.

Rafe: What?

Will: Uh, why do I get the feeling that I'm not gonna be seeing you again soon or ever again?

Rafe: No, it's just that, um -- the thing is, your mom and I...

Will: What, she dumped you?

Rafe: [Scoffs]

Melanie: The bottom line is if you really care about this woman, then you have to tell her because girls hate games. So you got to be honest. You need to tell her that you love her.

Bo: Well, why the hell wasn't I brought up to speed on this? That's a lame excu-- as soon as you hear from Roman or Hope, you call me. What is going on, fancy face? Where are you?

Housekeeping.

Roman: What are you doing here?

I was gonna clean the room.

Hope: Hey, love, what --

Roman: I don't know, sweetheart. I don't know what's going on here.

I'm terribly sorry. I won't bother you again.

Roman: All right. All right, good work. What's it look like now?

Hope: Another car just pulled up -- four men, all armed.

Nicole: Mia, wait. Wait, wait, wait, please. Just hang on a second.

Mia: What?

Nicole: I want to... I want to give you this. It's a -- a family portrait. Maybe you could put it away for Sydney so, um, she'll have something to remember us by... no matter where she ends up.

Mia: No matter where she ends up? Why are you saying that?

Nicole: I'm just being realistic.

Mia: Trying to scare me, you mean.

Nicole: No, Mia, I'm not. I learned the hard way that some things you can fix. But some things -- some things you can never take back. Look, I know you don't want to hear this. But the truth is... you could lose Sydney to the system -- government property. If you want to get her back and tell everybody the truth, you probably won't see her again.

Mia: I just wish this would all go away. I just wish I could just take it all back.

Nicole: You can't take it back. You're here. Sydney's here. I'm here.

Mia: [Sniffles]

Nicole: Now you have a big decision to make. So what's it gonna be? Do you want Sydney in your life or not?

Rafe: Did your mom dump me? No, she didn't -- why would you even think that?

Will: I don't know. You just got this "I just got dumped look" on your face.

Rafe: Yeah, well, maybe you actually mistook it for the "I'm leaving town" look.

Will: What, for good?

Rafe: Yeah. I got another job.

Will: Right.

Rafe: Just make sure your mom gets the medallion, okay?

Will: Yeah, don't even worry. I will.

[Grace crying]

Will: I'd better go. Babysitting duties never cease.

Rafe: I've actually got some extra time.

Will: Yeah?

Rafe: Yeah, I could settle her down, if you don't mind.

Will: It's fine by me.

Rafe: All right.

Max: This is Melanie, my beautiful, witty, freeloading sister.

Melanie: Oh, you are hilarious. I'm actually his kind, free-spirited life of the party Max wishes he was. Pleasure to meet you.

Arianna: Nice to meet you, Melanie. What'd you like to order?

Melanie: Oh, that. Right. I would like the almond-crusted mahi-mahi with a side of wasabi mashed potatoes.

Max: Wow, the fun just never stops with you, does it?

Melanie: Can I have a cheeseburger, medium-well with a side salad instead of fries?

Arianna: You got it.

Max: [Sighs]

Melanie: I like her.

Max: [Chuckles] Why, because she just stood there and took it when you ordered her around like a servant?

Melanie: Well, it's her job, isn't it?

Max: Your generosity of spirit never ceases to amaze me.

Melanie: Calm down, Mr. Serious. She likes me.

Max: Yeah, I could tell. So, how's the new job at the hospital?

Melanie: It's awful. It's horrible.

Max: Why? What's wrong with it?

Melanie: Well, the smell, for one thing. It smells like medicine, rotting fruit, and talcum powder, not to mention things that I am just too ladylike to discuss right now.

Max: I get the idea.

Melanie: The coffee -- ugh. Also, the lighting gives me a headache, the doctors are really mean, and there are sick people everywhere.

Max: [Gasps] Sick people in a hospital? Wow, imagine that.

Melanie: I know, right? I mean, it'd be one thing if they made the place more like a luxury hotel, but this place is awful. You know? I mean, like, if it was more like a hotel, people might want to actually stay there.

[Plate clatters]

Arianna: Ow!

Roman: What's going on now?

Hope: They're splitting up, heading this way. Time to get ready.

Roman: Let's do it.

Mia: I can't do it. I can't risk losing Sydney forever.

Nicole: So... you're not gonna get your baby?

Mia: No.

Nicole: And you're not gonna tell anyone the truth? Mia, I know how hard --

Mia: No. Don't -- don't say it, okay? Just don't say anything, please. I have to go.

Nicole: Oh, thank you. Okay, Nicole. Just get it together. You got to get ready. Where is Chloe, anyway?

[Knock on door] Mia.

Nicole: Brady. Uh, what are you doing here?

Brady: I heard this was where you were. Can I come in?

Nicole: Yes. Of course. Come in.

Brady: Thanks. [Clears throat] So, um...how's everything?

Nicole: Fine. Great. I-I'm sorry, Brady. I don't mean to be rude, but we're gonna have to make this fast because I'm kind of running late.

Brady: Oh, because you were arguing with Mia?

Nicole: Wow. Eavesdropping seems to be your thing lately.

Brady: Wait, I wasn't eavesdropping. I was arriving, and I saw her crying. What happened?

Nicole: None of your business.

Brady: None of my b-- it was my business a couple months ago.

Nicole: Fine. So, what, we exchanged a few words, and now everything's fine.

Brady: Nicole, you know, why don't you not lie to me anymore?

Max: You can move it, though, right?

Arianna: It still hurts a little, but, yeah, I can.

Max: Okay, but it's not broken or sprained. That's good. I'm gonna try and move it back. Tell me if it hurts. You all right? It's okay?

[Door slams] I think you're okay. I mean, it doesn't look too bad. Maybe you just bruised it.

Chelsea: Whoa.

Bo: Mommy will be home soon, little one. Yeah, I know. I love you. Okay, bye-bye. What's up?

Chatsworth: A squad car radioed in.

Bo: And?

Chatsworth: Spotted some bad boys near the hacienda motel.

Bo: Hacienda?

Chatsworth: Thought something might be going down.

Bo: The motel down on Bayview. Maybe Hope and Roman are down there.

[Cellphone ringing]

Will: That's so weird. I was just thinking about you.

Mia: [Crying] Yeah? [Sniffles]

Will: Mia, are you okay?

Mia: Actually, no. I was wondering, um, would it be okay if I came over?

Nicole: You think I'm lying?

Brady: How shocking, right? I mean, why would I have any reason to believe that? I mean, you've been so up-front about everything up till now.

Nicole: Oh, Brady, will you stop it? What is wrong with you? Couldn't you at least fake being happy for me today?

Brady: That's your area of expertise, Nicole, not mine.

Nicole: Brady... I'm getting married this afternoon. I mean, you're supposed to be, you know -- you're supposed to be there for me, supportive. Can't I have a little smile? One smile? Half a smile? Maybe a quarter of a smile?

Brady: [Laughs] All right, all right, stop. Listen, about your getting married today, um...

Nicole: Yeah?

Brady: Well, that's why I came to see you.

Nicole: Why? What's wrong?

Brady: [Clears throat] There's something you need to know. There's something I have to tell you.

Chelsea: Are you okay?

Arianna: Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm fine. Just a little sore. I accidentally bruised my hand.

Max: Well, since it's not broken, if you want to take off the rest of the day and rest --

Arianna: No, no. I'm good. I'd rather work.

Melanie: She's a trooper.

Chelsea: Oh, you're the new waitress. Max was just telling me that they just hired somebody.

Arianna: Yeah, that's me.

Chelsea: Oh.

Max: Mm-hmm.

Chelsea: Max, are you gonna introduce us?

Max: Yeah. Yeah. That's Arianna. This is Chelsea. Chelsea, Arianna.

Chelsea: Nice to meet you.

Arianna: You too. Max has said some really great things about you.

Chelsea: Well, he better have.

Arianna: I hope to see you around.

Chelsea: Oh, you will. A lot. I'm a -- I'm a regular.

Arianna: Great.

Chelsea: Well, if Max ever gives you a hard time, just let me know 'cause I'll straighten him right out.

Arianna: Okay, I might have to take you up on that.

Melanie: B.F.F. Alert.

Arianna: I should, um, go check on an order. But, um, it's really good to meet you.

Chelsea: You too.

Max: Cool. Coffee.

Chelsea: I like her.

Max: Yeah.

Melanie: You know what would be fun? You guys could all get together and play, like, Pictionary. Wouldn't that be adorable?

Chelsea: Melanie, I didn't even notice you sitting there. It's quite nice to see you, as always, since you always just brighten my day.

Melanie: And you mine, Chelse.

Chelsea: So, I have to say, I was, um, kind of impressed when I walked in here. You were tending to Arianna's wrist very professionally. If I didn't know any better, I would think that you were a doctor.

Melanie: Oh, well, he will be after, you know, a bunch of years of dissecting corpses and delivering babies and curing terminal illnesses, not to mention never sleeping.

Max: Hmm.

Chelsea: What is that?

Melanie: Do -- you didn't tell her yet?

Chelsea: You didn't tell me what?

Melanie: It's a completely filled-out application ready to be shipped off to medical school.

Rafe: Everything okay?

Will: Yeah, it's fine.

Rafe: Didn't sound fine.

Will: One of my friends is just going through some stuff right now.

Rafe: You want to talk about it?

Will: You want to talk about why you're really leaving town?

Rafe: I told you.

Will: And I told you. She's just going through some stuff.

Rafe: Okay. All right. I didn't mean to pry.

Will: My mom is gonna be home soon, okay, so...

Rafe: Right. I should get going. Hey, beautiful. See you later, okay? Don't grow up too fast on me now, you hear? [Smooches] Okay. Here's your big bro. I'll see you.

Will: [Chuckles] Rafe.

Rafe: Yeah?

Will: I-I hope your new job is good and everything works out for you.

Rafe: You too, will.

[Knock on door]

Nicole: Oh, Brady, please don't do this, not today.

Brady: Do what? What? I haven't even --

Nicole: No, I -- you don't think I know that look on your face? You're gonna ask me if I'm prepared to marry E.J. without telling him that Sydney is not my child. Look, you can breathe now, okay [Inhales] Because the answer is yes. [Sighs] Now, would you please be happy for me?

Brady: Happy. It's funny you should bring up happiness.

Nicole: Yes, it's weird, being that it's my wedding day.

Brady: You are never gonna be happy with E.J.

Nicole: Brady, please leave.

Brady: You deserve to be loved by someone who cares for you, just for who you are, not some prepackaged baby deal, Nicole.

Nicole: There's no one out there like that.

Brady: Are you sure about that?

Chelsea: Medical school.

Max: Yeah, you know, I'm not sure yet, but, you know, thanks for spreading the news, Mel.

Melanie: You weren't gonna keep something so serious from your girlfriend.

Max: I would have liked to tell her on my own time. Thanks.

Chelsea: It's a pretty big deal, medical school. Were you ever planning on telling me?

Max: The truth? Probably not.

Nicole: Brady. You know I've never...

Brady: You've never what? You've never what?

Nicole: ...Been very good at resisting you.

Brady: Then why stop now?

Nicole: Because it's my wedding day.

Brady: You're marrying the wrong guy.

Nicole: No, I'm not.

Brady: You deserve to be loved. You deserve to be happy.

Nicole: Brady, you know me. I will never get everything that I want.

Brady: It doesn't have to be like that.

Nicole: Yes, it does. Look, E.J. And I are wired the same. We don't live life by the rules. You do. Brady, you are one of the good guys... one of the best.

Brady: You don't love E.J.!

Nicole: Yes, I d-- I don't. Just will you stop saying that?

Brady: You don't.

Nicole: Yes, I do.

Brady: Nicole, you don't.

Nicole: I do. I do. I do, and I know that it is not a perfect love. And I know that we are dysfunctional, but it is what I want, and it is what I need.

Brady: You need -- what do you need, misery? You need a loveless marriage?

Nicole: Stop it!

Brady: No, Nicole.

Nicole: Brady, you need to leave.

Brady: You know what I need? I need you.

Nicole: Brady... you need to find someone... with no baggage. Please leave. You know E.J. Will freak out if he knows you're here, so will you please leave?

Brady: And I'm supposed to watch you make the biggest mistake of your life?

Nicole: You've walked away from me before. I'm sure you can do it again.

Will: You want to tell me what's wrong?

Mia: What isn't?

Brady: I don't want to talk about the past, Nicole.

Nicole: Brady, you threw me out of your life, and you were right then. That was the right thing to do. And, yes... maybe there's still a spark there. But it's over. And you have your path to walk down, and I have mine... with E.J. And the baby.

Brady: And what about that spark that you were talking about?

Nicole: It'll fade away. And one day, it'll be gone.

Brady: I don't want that. I don't want that.

Nicole: You don't have a choice.

Brady: But most of all, I don't want to see you get hurt again.

Nicole: Oh, Brady, I don't want to be saved. And if what I'm about to do is damning my life, then so be it. I accept that. And you're gonna have to accept it, too.

Chelsea: Okay, so, you weren't gonna tell me, but you told Melanie?

Max: I didn't tell her. She opened my mail, and she found the form.

Chelsea: Oh, okay.

Max: Do you really think she'd be the first person that I'd tell?

Chelsea: Look, I just -- I thought that we were gonna be honest with each other.

Max: No, no, no, no, no. Don't turn it into that.

Chelsea: Well, what am I supposed to think?

Max: I didn't lie to you.

Chelsea: No, but you didn't exactly tell me the truth, either.

Max: This is ridiculous. You know why I didn't say anything.

Chelsea: I do?

Max: Why would someone be all hush-hush about their med-school application or any application? 'Cause they're not sure they're gonna get in. And the thought of disappointing you -- I don't know. I couldn't take that.

Chelsea: Max, I wouldn't care.

Max: [Scoffs] Yeah, you say that now.

Chelsea: Why would you care what I think anyway?

Max: You know why.

Chelsea: Well, tell me anyhow.

Max: Because when somebody cares about someone the way I care about you, you know, you want them to think -- you want them to, like...

Chelsea: Like admire you? Think that you're an amazing guy? I already do. I don't need some medical school's opinion to convince me otherwise. You're one of the smartest guys I know, and you're gonna get accepted into med school. And even more than that, you're gonna be a fantastic doctor someday.

Max: [Chuckles]

Will: Tell me about it, Mia.

Mia: I can't.

Will: Okay. W-w-well, do you want something to eat or watch some TV? I got like six episodes of "30 Rock" on DVR.

Mia: You're babysitting?

Will: Yeah. How lucky am I, right? I'll be right back.

Hope: Bo! Bo.

Roman: Damn, little brother. Almost blew your head off.

Bo: Yeah, sorry to burst in on you unannounced.

Hope: Where are the -- I'll be damned. You took them all down.

Bo: You okay?

Hope: Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine.

Bo: How about you?

Roman: Yeah. Yeah. We're fine. I'm gonna go help with booking.

Bo: Right.

Roman: Good job, commissioner.

Hope: Oh, God. You have no idea how happy I was to see you come through that door, huh?

Bo: I'll be damned.

Brady: I know that look in your eye. I know you've made your decision.

Nicole: You don't want to waste all the good stuff on me, Brady. Find someone who deserves you. [Exhales sharply] [Crying] [Sobbing]

Chelsea: You are handing in this application, Max Brady. I don't want to hear another word.

Max: [Laughs]

Chelsea: I'm sorry. Do you think I'm kidding?

Max: No, I didn't say that. I didn't say that.

Chelsea: Good.

Melanie: Guys, I'm gonna get going.

Chelsea: Shucks.

Melanie: You gonna turn that in?

Max: I think so.

Melanie: Cool. Make me proud, bro. We'll hang out later?

Max: Yeah.

Melanie: Bye.

Max: What?

Chelsea: I still can't believe you told her before me.

Max: This is ridiculous! I didn't say anything.

Chelsea: Okay, but here's the deal. From now on, you're gonna tell me everything because we are in a committed relationship, and that's what people in a committed relationship do.

Max: Okay, you're right. You're right, okay? I missed the easy lay-up. Fine. Forgive me.

Chelsea: You know, you're really lucky that you're cute, wanting to make me proud.

Max: It's true.

Chelsea: I already am... in every way.

Max: Oh.

Hope: Oh, Bo, come on. Come on. I hope you don't think just because Roman and I were stuck in this fleabag room that... I spilled coffee on my blouse. That's why I have this ridiculous robe on.

Bo: Fancy face, this -- my visions were totally on with this motel room, the date, you and Roman being here.

Hope: W-w-wait, but nothing happened.

Bo: I got that. The visions were totally wrong about why you guys were here.

Hope: Exactly. You see, you can't control what you see, but now you do know that you can trust me enough to tell me everything.

Bo: Always, yes.

Hope: And whatever these visions, whatever you see, we will always deal with them together. Okay?

Bo: Mm.

Hope: 'Cause that's the most important thing -- us, together.

Bo: [Chuckles]

Mia: There she is.

Will: I'm really glad you're here.

Mia: Oh, yeah? Why is that?

Will: Well, my mom has been gone awhile, and... my arm was starting to get tired.

Mia: What?

Will: From holding her.

Mia: You're kidding.

Will: No, I mean it. She's getting pretty heavy.

Mia: What, like 10 pounds?

Will: More.

Mia: Will, your arm is not tired. You just want me to hold her.

Will: That's 'cause I know you want to. Here.

Mia: Hi. Hi. What are you doing? What are you doing?

[Trash can clatters]

Melanie: Somebody's mad.

Brady: Yeah. Yeah, I am. You probably shouldn't be around me right now.

Melanie: I don't think you should be alone right now.

Brady: Melanie, please, just go.

Melanie: You're always talking me off the ledge. Let me help you.

Brady: No. Melanie, I don't --

Melanie: Brady, shut up.

Nicole: I'm getting married today... and nothing's gonna stop me.

Stefano: Today, Philip Kiriakis will answer for what he did.

Nicole: Maybe I'm making a huge mistake.

Chloe: So you think you shouldn't marry E.J.?

Melanie: Are you in love with Nicole walker?

Sami: The thing I told you and have told everyone -- it's a lie.

Lucas: What did you lie about this time?
