Nicole: Just keep pushing. Keep pushing.
Nicole: Thatagirl! Yes! You can do it. You can do it, Mia. One last push. She's almost here. Push!
Mia: Aah! [Crying] Ow!
Nicole: Yes! Come on. Push!
Will: Mia? Hello?
Mia: Oh. Hey.
Will: Are you waiting for someone or...
Mia: No. No, sit down.
Will: Second time in one day, huh?
Will: So, what's with the newspaper? What's so interesting?
Mia: Oh, I -- I was just reading about this huge wedding tomorrow. Check it out. They're like the perfect little family, aren't they?
Will: Yeah, I guess.
Mia: What do you mean you guess? Look at how happy they are.
Will: Right. Now, maybe, but...
Mia: But what?
Will: That woman -- the bride... she -- she was my stepmom.
Brady: [Sighs] Don't do it, Nicole. Don't do it.
Stefano: Where's Nicole?
E.J.: She's out, as usual.
Stefano: On the eve of her wedding?
E.J.: Father, you're talking as if there actually is going to be a wedding.
Stefano: Won't there?
Rafe: It's for the best.
Sami: Stop saying that.
Rafe: I can't help you, not anymore.
Sami: You can't just leave like this.
Rafe: I've nothing else to say.
Nicole: I know that guy, but how?
Rafe: I couldn't help noticing earlier, you're expecting. Congratulations. You must be real happy about that.
Nicole: Yes, I'm thrilled.
Nicole: Oh, my God. That's how I know him.
Melanie: Wow. That took a long time. Did you handpick those tomatoes yourself? Ooh, waitress. Do me a fav, will ya? Put this on Maggie Horton's tab?
She doesn't have a tab. Look, if you can't pay for --
Melanie: Okay, all right, you -- I can pay for this salad. Okay, this purse is probably worth more than you make in a month. [Chuckles] See what kind of tip she gets. Thinks I can't even afford a wilted salad. Oh, yeah. I can't afford a wilted salad. I hate being poor. Well, luckily I came up with a backup plan.
Sami: This is my daughter we are talking about. And I have to do what's best for her welfare. I have to tell her the truth because she's gonna find out eventually. If she finds out, she'll resent me for the rest of my life.
Rafe: You're just figuring that out now?
Sami: No. But I came up with this plan and I thought it would work, and now I am here trying to live it and it doesn't work. It's not realistic, and it's not fair to her. Come on, Rafe. I can't live a lie with her about something that is so important.
Sami: You are not even trying to understand.
Rafe: Well, I told you that I would be there if you needed me, didn't I?
Sami: But you don't think I will. You don't think that I need you. Well, you're wrong, okay? You were wrong about everything. And...I just want you to promise me that no matter what I decide with E.J., You're not gonna leave Salem.
Melanie: Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Waitress! Waitress, there is something in my salad. I am not paying for that. I want to see the manager now. In fact, if I don't get, like, some kind of compensation, I'm gonna call the health department and sue.
Sue us? On what grounds? You put that in there.
And if you don't come up with what you owe, I am gonna get the manager and it won't be pretty.
Melanie: You can't talk to me like that. The customer is always right.
Pay your bill, or else you'll be back there scrubbing pots and pans all night.
Melanie: You cannot be serious.
Brady: I'll, uh -- I'll cover that. And two lattes, please.
Mia: Your -- your stepmother?
Will: Yeah, it --
Mia: That woman? Nicole walker?
Will: It was a long time ago. Forget I said anything.
Mia: Wh-why? Did you not -- did you not like her?
Mia: I mean, was that why you don't want to talk about her?
Will: No, it's just -- I mean, it's not a big deal. That's all. It doesn't mean anything.
Mia: I'm obviously making you upset.
Will: No, no, look, I'm not upset.
Mia: Uh...will, did -- you know, thinking about this Nicole woman, does it bring back bad memories or something?
Will: Actually, I was pretty young when Nicole was married to my dad. I don't really remember that much, only what people have told me.
Mia: And what have people told you?
Will: Well, I mean, I know my mom hated her. Still does. And my dad... people said she only married him for his money.
Will: I mean, I heard she also drank a lot, which probably didn't help my dad's problems at all. You know what? I really shouldn't be talking about any of this.
Mia: Will, she's not -- she's not an alcoholic or anything, right?
Will: Uh, I don't know. Maybe. Wait. Why do you care so much? D-- do you know Nicole?
Mia: Actually...I do.
Rafe: I'm not promising you anything.
Rafe: You're unbelievable. You know that? All the effort you expended to keep the truth from E.J. Now you're doing a 180.
Sami: Not that again.
Rafe: Yeah, that again. Well, it's funny, because that's all you wanted to talk about in the safe house -- how you didn't want Grace to be raised by a DiMera.
Sami: Well, I still don't want that.
Sami: But what about you in the safe house? Always telling me I should tell the truth? And you were so understanding, and now you're just being angry and judgmental.
Rafe: Yeah, well, maybe I'd be a little less angry and judgmental if you would quit changing your mind all the time.
Sami: Well, it's a really complicated issue.
Rafe: No, it's not complicated, actually. So...I mean, really, it's quite easy. Are you doing this for Grace's sake, or are you just trying to stop E.J. From marrying Nicole?
Sami: Rafe...I am not in love with E.J. And I am not jealous of Nicole. And I am not so selfish and vindictive that I would use my daughter to try to break up their marriage. And why are you harping on my motivation anyway? I haven't even decided if I'm gonna do it. I-I don't know what I'm gonna do yet.
Rafe: Oh, that's funny. Here you are wanting me to make promises, and yet you don't know what you're doing yourself.
Sami: I know one thing. I know I don't want you to go.
Rafe: Well...I'm not making this decision based on what you want. I'm gonna do what I think is best for me and for you... and for Grace.
Rafe: So I'll see you later.
Stefano: So, there's an outpouring of gratitude, is there?
E.J.: Oh, well, Nicole was Philip's savior.
Stefano: Ah. Now they all come crawling out of the woodwork to worship at her feet. Hmm.
E.J.: It's strange. I was feeling completely resolved in my decision to go through with the wedding, as you know. But to see Nicole and...Philip's girlfriend embracing, I just -- I just felt completely derailed.
Stefano: Well, that's certainly understandable. I mean, if it is more important for Nicole to ingratiate herself with the Kiriakises and those ding-dong groupies of theirs instead of you and me and Tony's memory, well, then she is a traitor through and through, okay? To hell with her.
Nicole: No, Stefano. The real traitor is a person you have always known to be a true enemy to the DiMeras, and I'm gonna prove that right now.
Will: So, how do you know Nicole?
Mia: It's -- it's really -- it's complicated. See...I know this girl, this friend of mine. We went to the same school together, and...she was a good girl. She made some mistakes and got into some trouble, so our school put her in this, uh, mentoring program for high-risk teens or whatever, and, uh, that's who Nicole was -- her mentor.
Will: Ni-Nicole was a mentor?
Mia: Yeah. I mean, she seemed cool. I met her a few times.
Will: You're not still in touch with her, are you?
Mia: No. No, no, no. Of course not. This -- this was forever ago. Why?
Will: Nicole walker has major issues, beyond the whole drinking thing. I mean, I'm talking about serious issues.
E.J.: Where have you been? I thought you were coming straight back here after you left the church.
Nicole: Well, Johnny's medication was left in my car, so I thought I would bring it over to Sami's.
E.J.: That's very thoughtful of you.
Nicole: Well, I thought if I didn't do it, you would, and I know you're still...grieving.
E.J.: Why don't you get to your point, please? You told me you were gonna come in here and show me who the real enemy of the DiMeras were, so why don't you cut to the chase?
Nicole: Fine. Sami wasn't alone.
E.J.: Well, I'm assuming the children were with her, darling.
Nicole: I'm not talking about the children. There was a man there about 6'2", black hair, Latin-lover looks, goes by the name of Rafe.
E.J.: As long as the children are all right, I really don't care who Samantha spends her time with.
Nicole: Well, you should care.
E.J.: Excuse me?
Nicole: This guy Rafe, I met him before, months ago, right here in this house.
Sami: Uh, please don't kill me. Please, I don't want to die.
Rafe: Look at me. You're Samantha Brady, right?
Sami: Who are you?
Sami: Rafe...I th-- I think your fever broke. I think we won.
Sami: Here, just take her. Just be real gentle with her head. Yeah, there, you got her. [Laughs] Look at that.
Rafe: She's smiling at me.
Sami: Doesn't it feel good to just go with your feelings?
Sami: You know, your mom has a really big decision to make, Grace. And all I want is to do the right thing. For once, I really want to do what's right, and I don't even know what it is. I just don't know what's best for you. Or will or the twins. I don't even know what's best for me.
Sami: Hello? Hello, Rafe?
Rafe: Damn it.
Sami: Rafe. Rafe, it's Sami. Are you there? What am I doing? I mean, I don't even know what to say.
Rafe: Hi, it's Rafe. Yeah, I need to talk to you. Yeah, right now.
Melanie: I mean, I could have eaten that thing. What if it was poisonous?
Brady: I doubt it was poisonous.
Melanie: That is not the point. Look, if I don't sue this greasy spoon... the same thing could happen to a poor, unsuspecting customer.
Brady: Okay, you know what? You really don't need to keep this charade up for me.
Melanie: "Charade"? Yeah, all right. No lawsuit, which means no damages, which means I cannot pay you back.
Brady: Don't sweat it.
Melanie: You're always so nice to me. It's like a pattern with you or something.
Brady: Yeah, I know. I guess I just appreciate your charm.
Melanie: [Laughs] Too bad Philip didn't. I think I might have screwed that up.
Brady: I think Philip was wrong for you anyway. And he and Stephanie, you know what? They're really solid.
Melanie: So boring, aren't they?
Brady: Obviously, they don't think so.
Melanie: [Chuckles] All right, okay. So, what about you?
Brady: What about me?
Melanie: Well, are you or aren't you?
Brady: Am I or am I not what?
Melanie: Single. Come on, Brady. All the girls at titan were always drooling all over you.
Brady: Come on.
Melanie: Seriously. Have you looked in a mirror lately? You register pretty high on the hotness scale.
Brady: Do you want a piece of cake or...
Melanie: Oh, and he's modest, too. Makes you even cuter. How come you never dated anybody at work?
Brady: Uh, the boss dating employees -- that's never cool.
Melanie: Yeah, no kidding. Unless there's somebody else.
Brady: Someb-- uh, no. No, no.
Melanie: Oh, no! No! You're still in love with that awful woman, aren't you?
E.J.: Rafe was here?
Nicole: Yeah, only he wasn't Rafe. He was the cable guy.
E.J.: The cable guy?
Stefano: Wait, wait, wait. I get it. I remember. You remember now, Elvis, there was a mix-up and the guy came to the wrong house.
Nicole: Mm-hmm. And Mary let him in, and then I found him snooping around in my bedroom.
E.J.: You're sure this is the same guy.
Nicole: I'm positive. What? You think I'm making this up? Oh, come on. I mean, you must have records on this guy since he came to Salem, right? Maybe a picture or something? Show it to Mary. She'll verify it.
Nicole: You will see that I'm right about this, that I'm right about Sami, too.
E.J.: Okay, can we not have an argument about Samantha, please?
Nicole: You know, saint Sami, the straight shooter.
E.J.: Nicole, please.
Nicole: You know, don't you get it, E.J.? All the time you were fretting over your precious Sami languishing in the safe house, she was spying on you, on us.
Nicole: That's Sami, isn't it?
Sami: E.J., It's Sami. I need to tell you something now.
Brady: We were talking about you, remember?
Melanie: Oh, he's changing the subject again.
Brady: I'm not changing the subject.
Melanie: Look, Brady, so you have a thing for your ex-wife.
Brady: What? Wait, you mean Chloe?
Melanie: Well, yeah, Chloe. Unless there's another ex-wife I don't know about.
Brady: [Laughs] No. Why do you think I'm still in love with Chloe?
Melanie: I may have heard some rumblings around the office back when I worked at titan.
Melanie: It's not a big deal. I just -- don't take this the wrong way, but I never really thought that you and Chloe were a good fit anyways. She's kind of a b-word.
[Laughing] You know what I'm saying?
Brady: No. Actually, no. She is a sweetheart, and you wouldn't say that if you really got to know her. She had to be in order to put up with me all that time.
Melanie: Well, it sounds like you do kind of have a thing for her.
Brady: No, I'll never regret all that time I had with Chloe, but I'm just glad that we're friends now. And I'm also glad that she found Lucas.
Melanie: You seem glad.
Brady: All the people that I care about...I'm happy for.
Melanie: We're not talking about Chloe anymore, are we?
Brady: See, you got to stop doing that, all right?
Melanie: Brady, I know what a guy looks like when he's head-over-heels for a girl. You have it written all over your face. You have it bad for somebody, don't you?
Will: That's -- that's just the stuff that she's done to my dad. I haven't even told you what she tried to do to one of her other ex-husbands.
Mia: How many exes are there?
Will: Too many. But I bet this one won't last more than six weeks.
Mia: But she seemed so... normal when I met her.
Will: "Normal"? Believe me, there's nothing normal about Nicole walker. She -- she's a total psycho. I mean, I think the worst of what she did was to my dad. She burned him pretty bad. It took him a while to get over it. And, I mean, everyone would make excuses for her, like she's supposed to get a free pass just 'cause she had an awful childhood and a loser dad, you know, who put her in porn movies and stuff.
Mia: Wait. Porn movies?
Mia: This -- this woman, the mother of that beautiful little girl...was a porn star?
Will: Yeah, you -- you want to delete that last part, okay? Look, it doesn't mean that much, not anymore.
Mia: That poor baby.
Will: [Clears throat] Let's talk about something else, huh?
Mia: No. Please, will...for my friend's sake, I need to know everything about this Nicole woman.
E.J.: Samantha, what do you want?
Sami: Look, E.J., This is really hard to say, so --
E.J.: So why don't you just not say it, okay?
Sami: E.J.? E.J.?
E.J.: That woman is hopelessly two-faced and manipulative.
Nicole: I think you used some of those same words to describe me.
E.J.: Nicole --
Nicole: E.J., Please, wait. Just listen to me, okay? I want to marry you. I've wanted that for a really long time. And I gave you a beautiful baby girl who needs to grow up with both her parents, and I am proud that you are Sydney's father. But we both know sharing a child with you doesn't mean a whole lot to Sami. I'm sorry if you're upset with me for being totally honest about what happened to tony. And I'm sorry that Stephanie and Philip and whoever else are glad about it, but I didn't do it for them, E.J. I did it because I believe in the truth. And I need to know the truth from you. Are you gonna marry me tomorrow?
Brady: You about done with that latte or...
Melanie: There you go again, changing the subject. I can take a hint. After everything you've already done for me tonight, I should probably just leave you alone.
Brady: Hey, I didn't mean that.
Melanie: I know. You know, this is probably the longest conversation I've had in months.
Brady: Come on, really?
Melanie: I wish I was kidding. You're like the only person in Salem that doesn't want to run over me with a truck, even though you'd have pretty good reason to.
Melanie: I'm -- you've kind of been a friend to me, Brady. God knows I don't have many of those. Max, you know, and Maggie if she's had her morning coffee.
Brady: I don't believe that at all.
Melanie: You know how we were talking earlier about being happy? I just -- I want you to be happy, Brady, because you're a catch. Okay, so look, this mystery woman, whoever she is, let me pay you back for being so nice to me by giving you some advice.
Will: You know, I feel kind of weird talking about Nicole like this.
Mia: Yeah, but if I don't have specifics, you know, if I can't back my story up, then my friend is going to think I'm lying.
Mia: Yeah, and then she'll think you're lying, too, because you're just bitter and, you know, you hate Nicole for what she did to your dad.
Will: No, I don't -- I don't hate Nicole.
Mia: But you said a second ago she's a total psycho.
Will: Yeah, well, maybe this whole baby thing softened her up. You know, maybe this time she won't try to --
Mia: Try to what? Will, you were gonna say something. Tell me.
Will: She sort of...I don't know, tried to...kill this one guy.
Mia: Oh, my God. Wh-when? I mean, how? And who?
Will: You know what? I'm just gonna shut up now.
Mia: No, no, no. You cannot -- you can't say stuff like that and then just drop it.
Will: Well, if you're really that interested, you can go online. It was all in the newspapers.
[Cellphone ringing] Oh, it's my dad. I got to get this. Hello?
Stefano: Ah. You're absolutely right.
Nicole: Same guy, wasn't it?
Stefano: The studly cable guy, as Mary so eloquently put it, was indeed Rafe Hernandez. Now, we need a plan.
E.J.: Later. Later, please, father.
E.J.: Could you give us a moment alone?
Nicole: So, does that really cute smile mean no more doubts?
E.J.: Come here.
E.J.: Harold! I'm sorry.
Nicole: That's okay.
E.J.: Look, I, um...
E.J.: Would you excuse me for just one second?
Melanie: I know I'm not an expert in relationships, obviously. [Laughs] But I have had a lot of experience, and the reason they usually bomb with guys like Philip is because I'm honest with them and I tell them how I really feel, and that usually freaks guys out. Am I right?
Brady: Yeah. Yeah, you are.
Melanie: Oh, I know, unfortunately, so, naturally, you're not going to tell a woman how you feel because you think it's gonna freak us out. Is any of this making sense?
Brady: Actually, yes. It does.
Melanie: I know, right? I should have my own talk show. [Laughs] Look, the bottom line is, if you really care about this woman, then you have to tell her because girls hate games. You got to be honest. You need to tell her that you love her and that you can't stop thinking about her. Who knows? Maybe something good will come from it. Either way, you can't be any worse off than you are right now, right?
Sister Agnes: Oh, I am surprised to see you so soon. Uh, how did it go with Samantha?
Rafe: Oh, not so well.
Sister Agnes: Oh, Rafael.
Rafe: She's so damn stubborn. Sorry. She's gonna tell this guy the truth, that he's Grace's father and, you know, once she does that, he's gonna be back in her life. Figure I should just cut my losses.
Sister Agnes: No, no, can you be absolutely certain that she's going to tell him?
Rafe: Well, I know Sami. And if it's on her mind and she wants to do it, it's gonna happen. Maybe it's the right thing to do. Maybe it's not. Only thing I know for sure is she's not letting go of the idea, which means...there's no place for me in her life.
Sami: Uh, may I come in?
E.J.: No, you may not.
Sami: E.J., I just need to talk to you. It's important.
E.J.: Really? Would you like to spy on me again?
Sami: What are you talking about?
E.J.: I know what you did, Samantha. We all know what you did.
Sami: What did I do?
E.J.: Let me ask you something. Why did you feel so compelled to violate my privacy? Or maybe you thought father and I were involved in mayor Marino's murder, hmm? Maybe...maybe it was your obsession with Nicole spiraling out of control because she has a child with me.
Sami: E.J., I don't know what you're talking about.
E.J.: You're like a dog with a bone, Samantha. You don't want to have me, but no, no, no, you don't want anybody else to have me, either.
Sami: You're talking crazy.
Nicole: Oh, really, Sami? Then why was Rafe here?
Nicole: Yeah, you know, your beefcake bodyguard.
Sami: I don't know what you're talking about.
Nicole: Sure you do. He was here months ago in some ridiculous cable-man getup.
E.J.: Sound familiar? He violated my home, Samantha. My house. Do you deny that? Do you?
Mia: I will not let you keep my little girl, Nicole. Never.
Sister Agnes: You have to give this more thought.
Rafe: What I have to do is leave Salem.
Sister Agnes: Oh, Rafe.
Rafe: And I'm on my way. I've already got my plane ticket. I leave tomorrow at noon.
Sister Agnes: Well, that's so soon.
Rafe: You're not gonna talk me out of it. I know you mean well, but my mind's made up.
Sister Agnes: I guess this -- this is goodbye. [Laughs] I'm gonna miss that face around here.
Rafe: Yeah? Well, I'm gonna miss you, too. And listen -- will you do me a favor?
Sister Agnes: Anything.
Sister Agnes: Mm-hmm.
Rafe: Check in on Sami and Grace for me, okay?
Sister Agnes: Yes.
Sami: Rafe was here because...
Sami: Because I was worried about Johnny. I mean, I was worried because he's living in this house with Stefano and with her, and you know that upsets me. Oh, come on. You have to believe that, right?
E.J.: We're through here, Samantha.
Sami: E.J., N-- come o-- telling E.J. is still the right thing to do. You have to tell him the truth about Grace.
E.J.: Listen... I owe you an apology. These last few days, losing... losing my brother... my emotions have really been all over the place.
Nicole: I understand.
E.J.: It meant a lot to me and to my father that you told us about Samantha violating our privacy. It really jarred me...into realizing that...you are loyal to us, to me. And I was wrong to have doubted you. Sort of jarred me into realizing how much I love you. You're a wonderful, kind, beautiful person. And aside from wanting to raise Sydney in a stable home with two parents, I want you in my life because I think we'd be incredibly happy. So...if you will still have me, I would like you to do me the honor...of allowing me to be your husband for the rest of my life.
Nicole: Oh, E.J. Of course, I'll still have you. I love you. I love you so much.
E.J.: I love you.
Maggie: She left with roman.
Maggie: They left together.
Hope: Just don't touch me, okay?
Chloe: What are you doing here?
Kate: Do you want to tell her or should I?
Mia: You lied to me about everything.
Nicole: Mia, please.
Mia: I mean, did you seriously think that you were gonna get away with all of this?
