Bo: Yeah, yeah. Thanks for the update. I will. You do the same. All right, later.

Hope: Hey.

Bo: Hey, hey.

Hope: News?

Bo: It is now official. Philip will not be charged with Tony's death. The D.A. Ruled it an accident.

Hope: Oh, thank God.

Bo: Yeah.

Roman: Hey.

Hope: Hey, roman.

Roman: I wanted to commend you on your work last night -- both of you.

Hope: Oh, we just found out that Philip isn't gonna be charged.

Roman: So they ruled it an accident. Boy, that'll be a big relief to victor. You too, Bo. Bo?

Mia: Will.

Will: Hey, Mia. What's going on?

Mia: Uh, nothing much. I actually just registered for school today. I start classes next week.

Will: Really? That's great. Salem high has a decent rep. The teachers aren't bad.

Mia: Anyway, since it's, you know, right across the street, I figured I'd pop in. I hear this is where all the cool kids hang.

Will: Yeah, something like that.

Mia: You okay? You seem bummed or something.

Will: Yeah, you're right. I'm in kind of a weird mood right now. I'm just trying to wrap my head around something.

Mia: And that would be...

Will: Something my mom did.

Mia: Oh. Well, if you don't want to tell me what it is...

Will: She adopted a baby and brought her home last night.

Sister Theresa: Ohh. We have certainly missed you, little Grace.

Sami: You know, I was gonna bring her to see you. You didn't have to come all this way.

Sister Theresa: Sami, I didn't come here just to see Grace. I...

[Sighs] I need to talk to you about -- about what you're doing.

Sami: What I'm doing?

Sister Theresa: Hiding the truth from Grace's father.

Stefano: I almost expect him to come walking down those stairs and telling us that it was all a dreadful mistake. Now we don't even have anything to remember him by. Oh, God. [Crying] And then that miserable wife of his! She comes here -- after all the months she has not been here, she comes here with the audacity, the cruelty to say that I have something to do with my son's death. My God.

E.J.: Father, she's -- she's devastated.

Stefano: I don't care what she is. All I know is that that bitch had no right to walk away with Tony's ashes.

E.J.: Father, she's upset. We're all upset. This is not the time to start blaming people. There's no need to do that.

Stefano: To do what? To what, t-to mourn my own son? To want to avenge my son's death? Oh.

[Sighs] My son is dead, and that bastard Philip Kiriakis is walking around a free man, all because of that traitorous whore that you are going to marry.

E.J.: All right. That's enough. I'm sorry, father. I will not allow you to speak that way about her in this house.

Brady: Nicole.

Nicole: Oh, Brady. Thank God you made it.

Brady: Did you talk to Philip?

Nicole: Yes. He is, uh -- he's going to cooperate. I told the truth, Brady. Tony's death was an accident. And whatever Philip saw or overheard between you and me, he's agreed to not say anything.

Brady: So we're all good, then.

Nicole: Yes, definitely.

Brady: Said with no conviction at all.

Nicole: What, do you think I have a guilty conscience? Whatever ill I may have wished tony, I had nothing to do with his death.

Brady: Then why are you so upset?

Nicole: Because I may have killed my future with E.J.

E.J.: You told me that you were so happy that I'd found somebody that I loved, somebody who gave me a wonderful daughter, who gave you a wonderful granddaughter, your precious heir. What was that, just disingenuous crap?

Stefano: Go away.

E.J.: No. Answer my question. All Nicole ever wanted was to be loved and accepted by this family. She was good to you. She was patient with you. You -- you didn't have the decency -- didn't even have the decency to tolerate her. Why? To punish me?

Stefano: [Sighs] Listen, I want to think about the son I just lost, not about you.

E.J.: Sure. Okay, you think about him. Don't worry about us getting married. We'll exchange our vows somewhere else... not in this house.

Stefano: Great.

Brady: You and E.J.?

Nicole: Yeah, I -- I should have seen it coming.

Brady: Nicole, look, he's in -- he's in shock. He's grieving. When he calms down --

Nicole: Calms down. Calms down? His brother died a tragic, awful death. How calm do you think he'll ever be again? He'll never get over it. It'll always be on his mind, and Stefano will never stop thinking I was involved.

Brady: So, what you're saying is this changes things with you and E.J. Forever.

Nicole: [Sighs] It's like I'm tainted. He's always gonna see me connected to his brother's death. Why would he want to marry me now? Why aren't you saying anything? Oh, my God. You think this is a good thing, don't you?

Brady: Yep. Yeah, I do. I think it's for the best.

Kate: Okay. Let's see.

Chloe: Hi. Good morning. I'm Chloe Horton. I have an appointment at 9:45. I'm a little bit early, but Dr. Van Ellen retired, so his nurse was gonna recommend me to somebody.

And so she did.

Chloe: Oh, well, she didn't tell me who it was.

You're looking at him.

Will: And the bottom line is her kids need her right now -- the little ones, I mean. This whole adoption thing just kind of throws everything off, you know?

Mia: Well, sometimes it's hard to understand why people do what they do, but I'm sure your mother had a good reason.

Will: [Scoffs] Apparently, you don't know my mom. She doesn't really need a good reason to do anything.

Mia: What's she look like, your baby sister?

Will: Honestly, I wasn't even paying attention.

Mia: Will, you can't act like that. You can't act like you don't care. She'll know.

Will: She won't know. She's a baby.

Mia: Yes, she will. Babies have feelings. They -- they can sense things. Whatever happens, promise me you'll be good to that little girl. You two are family now, and nothing's more important than that.

Will: You're right.

Mia: You have to love her. You have to.

Will: Okay, okay. I will. I'll take care of the new baby. It's just it was so sudden and unexpected, you know? I wasn't ready for it.

Mia: Well, you don't get to plan everything that happens in life. That's not the way it works.

Will: Listen, I have a free period right now, and I'd go see the baby if, uh...

Mia: If what?

Will: If you went with me.

Sister Theresa: The adoption story worked, then?

Sami: Yes. Yes, sister, it did. Thank you for your concern, but -- but Grace's father's never gonna find out about her. And if it was gonna blow up in my face, I think it already would have.

Sister Theresa: I'll be praying for you, Sami... and for Grace.

Sami: You don't think it's gonna work, do you? You still have doubts.

Sister Theresa: Don't you, Sami? Don't you have them, too?

Chloe: So, you're my new doctor?

Daniel: I tried to find someone else who I believed was qualified to treat you, and the closest referral I can offer you is, uh -- well, it's in Maywood.

Chloe: Maywood? That's more than 100 miles away from here.

Daniel: That's why I assumed that it wouldn't work.

Chloe: Yeah, okay. This will be fine.

The exam room is ready, Dr. Jonas.

Roman: You are a lucky guy.

Bo: What?

Roman: Your wife. She's an amazing woman. And what you two have is --

Bo: Don't tell me what I have.

Roman: Something on your mind?

Bo: I need you to do me a favor, no questions asked.

Roman: Sure.

Bo: Until I tell you otherwise, stay away from my wife.

Stefano: [Exhales deeply] The baby is still asleep?

E.J.: Yes.

[Cellphone ringing]

Stefano: Ah, it's from Italy, probably a condolence call. I have to take it. Pronto. Ah, sí, Anzo. Grazie. Ah, un momento, per favore. One day, Elvis -- one day, you will think as I do. And when you do, you will know who Nicole really is... and you'll be a broken man.

Nicole: You think it's a good thing that E.J. And I are finished?

Brady: You know how I feel about the lies, Nicole, about the deception.

Nicole: Here we go.

Brady: What do you want me to say, huh?

Nicole: I actually thought maybe you'd feel sorry for me that my life may be falling apart, that I may lose the man that I love.

Brady: I'm only sorry that you seem to be in pain all the time.

Nicole: Brady, just leave me alone.

Brady: All right, look. If you want to marry E.J., I hope it happens. I wish you luck.

Nicole: Great. Now you're being a jerk.

Brady: Really? How am I being a jerk, hmm?

Nicole: You're wishing me luck? I don't need luck. What I need is for yesterday not to have happened. What I need are things to be different, Brady!

Brady: I see that you love E.J. I can see it. I'm just really hoping it's worth it.

Sami: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I just -- I really can't talk about this. I -- I just can't.

Sister Theresa: I didn't mean to upset you.

Sami: I know you didn't. I know you're just caring.

Sister Theresa: Please, just -- just think about what I said.

Nicole: I'm back.

E.J.: Yeah.

Nicole: Is Sydney asleep?

E.J.: She is.

Nicole: And is it just you?

E.J.: He's upstairs. Conference call from Italy, all offering their condolence.

Nicole: And did I give you guys enough time? I, uh -- I know your father doesn't want me around right now... or ever. I assume that he hasn't changed his mind about what I've done.

E.J.: Nope.

Nicole: And what about you? Do you still think I haven't lived up to the DiMera code, that I should have sent an innocent man to prison?

E.J.: I think that you know that Philip Kiriakis is not innocent. And I think there was a reason that you were at that pier. It's just too much of a coincidence. You're gonna play the victim now?

Nicole: No, E.J. It just pains me that you have no faith in me.

E.J.: I'd like to be alone now.

Nicole: Fine. But before I leave... I need to know if the wedding's still off.

Chloe: So, how am I doing?

Daniel: Pressure's normal. Everything looks great. Should get the results of your blood work back in a couple of hours.

Chloe: Great.

Daniel: So, I'll see you next time.

Chloe: Daniel. I'm sorry if I seemed reluctant before to have you as my doctor. It's fine. And, uh, I'm glad we've moved on.

Daniel: Yeah, so am I.

Chloe: I just -- I hope you're okay.

Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, why wouldn't I be?

Chloe: Well, 'cause, you know, things have been difficult. And I know I hurt you.

Daniel: You were part of Lucas' life, stepmom to his little girl. And I'm not proud that I was so willing to interfere with that. I should have stayed away.

Chloe: But you said that, um, it was beyond your control, that you couldn't.

Daniel: Well, that was a weak thing to say and to feel. I had choices. Made the wrong one.

Chloe: So that's how you see it now?

Daniel: That's just the way it is. But I've learned from it.

Chloe: Learned.

Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, what I put you through, myself through... I would never do it again to anyone. I've changed. I'm not the same man.

Roman: Bo. You are my brother, and I love you. If something is wrong --

Bo: No. Nothing.

Roman: Okay.

Bo: It's nothing.

Will: Hey, mom. I hope you don't mind us busting in unannounced.

Sami: Will, you don't have to announce yourself. This is your home.

Will: Right. Anyway, mom, I'd like you to meet Mia. Mia, this is my mom.

Sami: We've met. Hi. Well, I guess we didn't meet officially. We just ran into each other. But it's nice to finally meet you.

Mia: Yeah, it's nice to see you again.

Sami: So, what are you two doing out of school so early?

Mia: Oh, I'm not actually a student yet. I just registered today.

Will: And I'm on free period right now, thought I'd just drop by and show Mia my new baby sister.

Sami: Wow. Will, that means a lot. Thank you.

Will: Uh, can I show Mia around?

Sami: Oh, yeah. Give her the grand tour.

Will: Oh, do you have a plan on your phone to call Europe?

Sami: A plan? No.

Will: 'Cause I promised aunt Carrie and uncle Austin that I'd stay in touch.

Sami: Oh, yeah, of course. Call them, and I'll get a plan so you can call them whenever you want.

Will: Cool. All right, follow me.

Sami: Okay. All right, there it is. William reed. Oh, man. I'm so glad that I found out that will's blood type is different from Austin's. Now I can change it so no one will ever know that Lucas is the father. If Austin knew the truth, he'd never even look at me again, much less marry me.

Sami: [Scoffs] I just haven't learned, have I? I just keep making the same mistakes.

E.J.: Do I want to cancel the wedding? No.

Nicole: Wow. That was not the answer I was expecting.

E.J.: Sydney's our child. She is the most important thing, and I think that's what is right for her.

Nicole: So this is about Sydney.

E.J.: Surprised by that?

Nicole: No. Of course not. Sydney is the most important.

E.J.: Yes, she is. [Sighs deeply] And if, in time, we're able to get past the tragedy of my brother's death and the differences we have over Philip Kiriakis' involvement, then...

Nicole: Then?

E.J.: Well, maybe we'll be able to move on... reconcile things.

Nicole: But for now?

E.J.: Now we have to do... the most responsible thing. And the most responsible thing for our child is to get married.

Nicole: And how about you, Stefano? Can you accept what E.J. Wants? Will you give us your blessing?

Stefano: [Sighs deeply]

Chloe: So, you're a changed man, huh?

Daniel: Yeah, all I want for you now is to have a long and happy life with Lucas.

Chloe: And you?

Daniel: Me? [Chuckles]

Chloe: Yeah, I mean, what do you want for yourself, Daniel? Don't you deserve to be loved, to have a happy life?

Daniel: I don't really think in terms of being deserving. I just don't think life works like that. But, yeah. Yeah, I want to be loved and loved by somebody. And maybe someday that'll happen again.

Chloe: It will. I'm sure of it.

Daniel: Uh, take care.

Will: So, that's it.

Mia: Cool.

Will: Uh, where are the twins?

Sami: Grandma Caroline has them.

Mia: Your home is really nice, ms. Brady.

Sami: Will, do you two have some time before your next class?

Mia: Uh, well, seeing as I don't actually have any classes yet...

Will: I have two free periods right now, so, yeah, we've got time. Why?

Sami: I was just wondering if maybe you could do me a huge favor and stay with Grace for a little bit.

Will: What?

Mia: Of course we can.

Will: Do something? Do what? What do you have to do?

Sami: Um, I'm gonna go see E.J. I have to talk to him about Johnny -- preschool.

Will: Right.

Sami: Uh, her pacifier is right there, so if she fusses, you can give it to her. But she just went down. She usually sleeps for about two hours at a time, so she should be fine. Call me if you need me. Thank you.

Will: Mom, wait. Don't you think this can wait?

Sami: No, will, I really don't. Thank you.

Stefano: Having heard how eloquently my son framed his thoughts, it, uh, lessened the hardness of my heart. But Sydney is my granddaughter. You are her mother. And we are family. I will not turn my back on you, Nicole.

Nicole: Thank you.

Stefano: So, the two of you, why don't you go ahead with, uh, your wedding plans with my blessing.

Will: You can come closer if you want. I'm pretty sure she doesn't bite.

Mia: This is fine.

Will: Are you okay?

Mia: Yeah. Why?

Will: I don't know. You just seem a little, uh...

[Grace crying]

Mia: Oh, no.

Will: Hold on. Just -- okay, we'll calm down. It's just a crying baby. It's not a fire or a tornado.

Mia: Yeah, right. Um, okay. So maybe you should try rocking the crib or something.

Will: Right. Right, Mia. It's worth a try. [Crying continues] Come on, stop! Stop crying.

Mia: Stop crying? Wow, it's so soothing.

Will: Come on. Just...ugh. That's way too fast, okay? You have to do it like this. Shh. Hey, it's okay, baby. It's all right. Your mom will be back soon. Shh.

Will: You're pretty good at this.

Mia: She's -- she's so beautiful.

Bo: Yeah, I'm here now. Just call me as soon as you hear anything. Hey.

Sami: Hey, uncle Bo. I called your office, and they said you were here. I hope you don't mind.

Bo: No, no, no. What's up?

Sami: I need to talk to you. It's just about something that I think you'll understand better than anyone.

Kate: Perfect. Impossible to tell the difference.

[Cellphone ringing] Chloe. I was just thinking about you.

Chloe: Hey, Kate. I'm done with my checkup, and I was wondering if you wanted to talk more about the job you offered me, hosting that TV show.

Kate: Yes, I do. Soon.

Chloe: Well, I'm free today if you are.

Kate: Excellent. There's just one minor thing that I have to do, and I'll call you after lunch. How's that?

Chloe: Sure. No problem.

Kate: Bye for now. Hey, Chelsea, it's me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm fine. I'm fine. You know -- you know what I was thinking? Could you meet me for lunch today? I feel so terribly remiss in not keeping in touch, and I want to hear all about your work with the children at the hospital and that adorable little Theo. What do you say? Yeah, that would be great. What do you say we have an early lunch, and then you can give me a tour around the hospital? Yeah, sounds good. I'll be down soon. Bye.

E.J.: Thank you for reaching out to her. I appreciate it.

Stefano: Well, perhaps I'm seeing things a little clearer. And I believe that Nicole told the truth as she sees it.

E.J.: Yes. I believe that, too.

Stefano: But... there is one thing that I will never believe, and that is that Tony's death was an accident. You know, the time will come where we will know what actually happened. And when that time comes, Philip and his whole family will pay for Tony's death... and they will pay dearly.

Hope: Hey, roman. Room for one more?

Roman: Uh, hope. I, uh -- I thought you were gonna be out on a case all day.

Hope: Yeah, well, unfortunately, it turned out to be a false lead. I found myself in the neighborhood, thought I'd stop in for one of Caroline's burgers.

Roman: Well, I'll tell you what. I really can't stay. Something I need to do.

Hope: Aren't you gonna finish your drink?

Roman: I really don't need it. We'll catch up later, okay?

Hope: No, wait. Hold on one second. Your leaving like this, so suddenly, it's not because you have something to do, is it? It's because of Bo.

Sami: So I just want your advice, or your take on something that happened a long time ago.

Bo: Yeah, sure. Shoot.

Sami: You remember when will was little, and he thought Austin was his dad for a long time 'cause I let him think that?

Bo: Yeah, I remember.

Sami: Well, I mean, he's known who his real father is for years now, right? And he's a teenager now and everything, but I just wondered if you think that lie -- if you think that had lasting damage for him.

Bo: Did you ask him?

Sami: No, I mean, I can't bring it up without hurting him. And, anyway, I just think he would say, "No, Mom, I'm totally cool."

Bo: You're probably right about that.

Sami: And that's why I wanted to ask you. You know what I'm talking about, and I think you'll be honest with me. I'm just worried about the pain that I caused him in not knowing who his father really was. And I just wonder if he'll ever get over it. Do you think he will?

Bo: No, Sami. I don't.

Nicole: Oh! Hi, Dr. Jonas.

Daniel: Hey, Nicole. And this must be Sydney.

Nicole: Yes. The one, the only.

Daniel: You here for her checkup?

Nicole: I am. You know, I got a call from the pediatrician's office last week, saying that he'd moved to Chicago or is moving.

Daniel: Yeah, yeah. Dr. Salinger.

Nicole: Right.

Daniel: Yeah.

Nicole: Well, the nurse didn't know who was replacing him. Do you?

Daniel: I was told this morning, actually. Oh, and here he comes now.

Dr. Baker: Well, well. Just like old times.

Mia: Uh... maybe -- yeah, maybe you should try this. Here.

Will: Hey, here you go, Grace. Here. Come on, here. It's okay. Here.

[Grace fussing] She won't take it.

Mia: Okay, well, then, um... I guess you're gonna have to hold her.

Will: Right. Here, Grace. Shh. Shh, it's okay. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Or maybe you want to?

Mia: What?

Will: Maybe you want to hold her. It's easy. You just take her like this, make sure you keep your hand behind her head.

Hope: Bo said something to you, didn't he?

Roman: I really do have to go.

Hope: Just answer the question. Answer me.

Roman: We're fine. Bo's fine. I'm just in a hurry. That's all. See you later.

Sami: And grandma kept that lie going for years.

Bo: She did what she thought was best. You're right.

Sami: Because she thought you deserved better than victor. She wanted you to have a good life, a good father.

Bo: Good or bad, right or wrong, a lie is a lie.

[Cellphone ringing] Excuse me. I got to take this. Yeah. Brady.

Stefano: Antony is gone... and nothing will ever bring him back. So [Clears throat] I think we should focus on your wedding. Forge ahead with courage and, uh... not let this tragedy... mar such a joyful occasion.

E.J.: No. Tony wouldn't want that.

Stefano: I won't let it happen. And, Elvis... I will not let anything interfere with your happiness.

Sami: My sweet Grace. Okay, I can't do this. I can't hurt you the way that I hurt will. I'm gonna do the right thing, damn the consequences. Uncle Bo, is tony DiMera dead?

Bo: You didn't know?

Sami: Oh, my God. I have to go see E.J.

Nicole: I will drag your sorry ass in front of the hospital board, and I will have your job in a blink of an eye.

Will: What's wrong?

Mia: It's just holding her -- I never want to let her go.

Sami: There's something I want to tell you about Grace.

Philip: I'm not to blame. The person to blame is his father.
